Hello!

Hoping someone can help me out. Read this fic on Ao3 probably early this year. It’s quite long. It’s either just Steve’s pov or both of them. Steve and Robin are best friends and Eddie and Nancy are best friends and I think it’s set it Chicago and they’re in their mid 20s. Nancy is a total metal badass I believe. I mostly remember it being very angsty and slightly toxic as far as Steddie. There’s this ex of Steve’s (I think it’s Tommy) who is a cop and has something to hold over his head like a video maybe? So Steve keeps going back to him. Steve’s also an overall mess and has so much to deal with. Like I said, it’s super angsty! Like so so angsty. Been looking for days and hope someone recognizes it!

내가 정말 좋아하는 음식, 야채 잔뜩 넣고 파르륵 끓여서 고기와 이것저것 건져먹는 따끈한 음식

샤브샤브는 몇 없는 나의 최애 음식 중 하나다.

얼마 전 동생과 통화하면서 그런말을 했다.

자기가 얼마전에 샤브샤브를 먹어봤는데, 엄마가 너무 좋아할것 같더라고.

엄마가 이런거 좋아하지 않아? 라고 신나게 말하는 네가

나보다 훨씬 엄마를 당연하게 생각하고 있구나,

무엇을 먹고, 보아도 엄마가 좋아할 것 같다는 생각이 오래전의 일 같다.

내가 사는 게 팍팍하다하여 엄마의 걱정까지 잊을필욘 없었는데, 핑계뿐인 어른이 되어간다.

그리고 나도 샤브샤브를 좋아해, 동생아.

수 없는 다툼 끝에 결코 뼛속부터 맞지 않는 사람들이라는 사실을 확신까지 하고 나니 둘 다 마음이 편해진 건가. 이미 헤어짐을 고하고 또 고했던 우리는 속도 없이 웃으며 마지막으로 샤브샤브를 먹으러 갔다. 메뉴를 정하는 중 평소 같았으면 걔의 의견을 물어봤을 나지만, 이제 뭐 끝난 사이니까 싶어서 평소 진득하게 물어봤을 걔의 의견 따위는 묻고 싶지도 않았고, 그냥 내가 좋아하고 먹고 싶은 샤브샤브를 먹으러 가자고 말했다. 그렇게 뜨거운 김이 펄펄 나는 육수를 사이에 두고 호호 불어가며 열심히 샤브샤브를 먹고 속 든든하게 헤어졌다. 물론 여러 가지 해결해야 할 문제들이 남아있어서 완전한 헤어짐은 아니었지만 내 마음은 진짜 이별을 마주하기 전 단단하게 마음을 만들고자 하는 주춧돌인 시간이었다. 미련 때문에, 같이 보냈던 시간들 때문에, 깔깔 웃던 재밌었던 순간들 때문에 내 앞날을 망치고 싶지 않았던 냉정한 마음이 결국 날 지켰다.

샤브샤브는 언제 먹어도 무난한 음식이다. 이것은 한국인의 독특한 후식, 탄수화물 섭취문화와 맞물려서 한국 샤브샤브 전문점에 가면 기본적인 데친 음식 이외에도 칼국수, 떡사리는 물론이요 남은 육수도 버리지 못해 기여이 덜어내어 죽까지 만들어 아낌없이 싹싹 긁어먹는 것이다.
