The best lens ever

Buying a Lens

When it comes to buying a telephoto lens it’s important to ask yourself what subjects you are wanting to shoot, how far away these subjects are likely to be, and what type of light you will most often be shooting in. You’ll then be able to narrow down your lens choices based on the following characteristics:

Focal Length

The lens focal length will determine how close your subject will appear through your cameras viewfinder. The larger the focal length the closer you will be able to get to your subject.

If I’m shooting a motocross event and I’m able to get very close to the track then often I won’t need a focal length longer than 200mm on a full-frame camera. But if I’m shooting birds in flight then these will be much further away and the subject will also be much smaller, so then I usually prefer a focal length in the 400-600mm range on a full-frame camera.

Aperture

The aperture of the lens together with shutter speed and ISO will determine your exposure. A lens with an aperture of f/2.8 will let in twice the amount of light compared with an f/4 lens, this not only allows you to keep your ISO lower but also improves the autofocus speed.

Many zoom lenses will have a variable aperture that changes depending on your focal length. For example, the Sony FE 100-400mm GM lens has a maximum aperture of f/4.5 when you are at 100mm, but at 400mm the maximum aperture changes to f/5.6. However, some lenses that have a constant aperture that doesn’t change as you zoom, like the Sony FE 70-200 F2.8 GM lens which has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 and 70mm and also at 200mm.

For indoor photography where light levels are low apertures of f/2.8 or faster are often preferred. Fast apertures are also preferred for outdoor photography when using fast shutter speeds or if you want to create the smoothest separation between your subject and the background.

Autofocus Speed

If you are planning to shoot very fast subjects such as superbikes or birds in flight then it’s important that the autofocus motors in the lens are able to keep up with your subject, if they can’t then you’ll struggle to get any shots in focus.

Prime or Zoom

Prime lenses are almost always sharper than zoom lenses but there are a couple of downsides to using them.

First of all because prime lenses have a fixed focal length you can only move closer or get further away from your subject by using your feet (which may not always be practical), whereas a zoom lens needs just a quick twist of the zoom ring.

Prime lenses are a lot more expensive than zoom lenses. For example, the Sony FE 200-600 f5.6-6.3 G lens normally costs around $1,998.00, whereas the Sony 600mm F4 GM lens costs a whopping $12,998.00.

APS-C Telephoto Lenses

Sony E-mount APS-C telephoto lenses are designed for cameras like the Sony a5100, a6000, a6100, a6300, a6400, a6500 and a6600 but will also work on full-frame E-mount cameras like the Sony a7 Series or a9 when shooting in APS-C (Super-35) Mode.

Sony E 70-350mm F4.5-6.3 G OSS (SEL70350G)

The Sony E 70-350mm F4.5-6.3 G OSS is the longest APS-C zoom lens currently available for the Sony E-mount.

I bought this lens on the first day that it was available and it has quickly become one of my favorite APS-C lenses for travelling, shooting sports and shooting my dog Frank. I also often use this lens on my a7R IV in crop mode as it’s so small and light.

The lens has a focal length of 70mm to 350mm and a variable aperture of f/4.5 – 6.3. From 70mm to 82mm its f/4.5, 83mm to 113mm its f/5, 114mm to 199mm its f/5.6, and 200mm to 350mm is f/6.3.

The lens is well built and weighs only 625 g (22.1 oz.). It features an AF/MF switch and OSS (Optical Steadyshot) On/Off switch. There’s also a customizable function button and a zoom lock switch. Unfortunately Sony missed off a focus limiter switch that can be useful at times, and there’s also no panning mode 1/2 switch.

The lens is pretty sharp when shooting at 350mm and f/6.3 but by stepping down to f/7.1 you’ll see an improvement in sharpness.

The Camera is the magnificent Nikon F5 (ok I'm biased) and the Nikkor 70-210mm f/4-5.6 AF. Epson V600. Big Nikki is what I call my F5. For those that moan about heavy cameras, go to the gym, work out and score one of these. The lens is super. I have no qualms with this lens on my D7100 or the F4s.Super bargain, and a tad heavy when compared to todays lightweight plastic bodied lenses. Then again people used to schlep 8x10 view cameras up mountains with glass plates and their lab. So heavy, like time, is relative to me.

Với hiệu suất tổng thể vượt trội, ống kính FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS sở hữu tiêu cự tương đương 105-300mm vẫn khá nhỏ gọn và bao quát phạm vi zoom tele linh hoạt lý tưởng chụp chân dung, hành động, thể thao,… Hỗ trợ chụp chủ thể di chuyển nhanh là bộ đôi động cơ lấy nét tuyến tình và cơ chế lấy nét nội bộ để lấy nét tự động, cho phép lấy nét nhanh, chính xác và cho ảnh sắc nét, nhất là khi kết hợp với OSS. Ống kính này sắc nét ngang ngửa phiên bản f/2.8 nhưng giá chỉ bằng phân nửa, đổi lại là giảm khả năng chụp trong điều kiện ánh sáng tự nhiên thấp.

Sony FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS

Lý tưởng cho nhu cầu chụp tele, ống kính zoom FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 tương đương 105-450mm cân bằng tốt về phạm vi tiêu cự linh hoạt và thiết kế quang học tinh vi nhằm duy trì chất lượng hình ảnh. Ống kính này phù hợp chụp du lịch, phong cảnh và động vật hoang dã. Ống cũng trang bị khả năng chụp cận cảnh dẫn đầu phân khúc, khoảng cách làm việc nhỏ nhất là dưới 0.9m và tỉ lệ phóng đại lớn nhất là 0.31x, lý tưởng để chụp tele-macro. Đổi lại ống kính không quá xuất sắc khi chụp thiếu sáng và soft nhẹ về phía rìa ảnh.

Sony E 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS

55-210mm tương đương 82.5-315mm trên 35mm là lựa chọn có giá phải chăng, là ống kính telephoto tốt nhất trong dòng Sony E xét trên giá bán của nó. Ống kính đạt độ cân bằng vượt trội về hình dáng và chức năng: phạm vi zoom lớn bên trong thiết kế nhỏ gọn, nhẹ, cầm và thao tác khá thoải mái. Ống kính này lý tưởng chụp thể thao hoặc thiên nhiên khi bạn muốn chụp cận cảnh nhưng đứng ở khoảng cách xa.

Ngoài ra, các ống kính Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM và FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS đều là các lựa chọn xuất chúng cho chất lượng hình ảnh và lắp ráp chuẩn tầm chuyên nghiệp, tuy nhiên hai ống kính này lại có giá thành cao, không thực sự phù hợp với phân khúc người dùng máy ảnh Sony a6400. Các ống kính này còn được hỗ trợ bởi các ống chuyển teleconverter Sony FE 1.4x và FE 2.0x. Tuy nhiên cần lưu ý là các ống adapter này không gắn vừa lên ống FE 70-200mm f/4 G OSS.

Sus Majestades de Oriente ya casi están aquí y aunque puede que ya sea tarde para encargarles regalos (hay que fijarse muy bien en los plazos de entrega y, si no, siempre se puede recurrir a un “vale”), seguro que os interesa echar un vistazo a nuestro Cazando Gangas.

Nuestro ya habitual espacio en el que, como sabréis, os ofrecemos las mejores ofertas que hemos encontrado de los principales portales de e-commerce en el apartado de cámaras fotográficas, objetivos, trípodes, bolsas, flashes, tarjetas de memoria, discos duros… ¿Empezamos?

Ofertas en cámaras

Comenzamos con una representante de las cámaras más de moda del momento, las sin espejo con sensor FF. Y lo hacemos con la Sony A7 II que está en oferta con el objetivo 28-70 mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS por 1149 euros (precio mínimo) tanto en El Corte Inglés como en Amazon.

Si en vez de sin espejo prefieres una réflex económica tienes el modelo más sencillo de Canon, la EOS 4000D con la óptica EF-S 18-55mm III, por sólo 229,99 euros en eBay. Es un modelo de importación, eso sí, por lo que puede tardar en llegar, así que si quieres tenerla antes tendrás que pagar 279,33 euros en Amazon.

También réflex pero algo más avanzada y de la marca rival, tienes una Nikon D5300 con objetivo AF-S DX 18-55mm G VR por 499 euros en El Corte Inglés.

Si lo que buscas es una pequeña sin espejo, sencilla, atractiva y que dé buenos resultados tienes una Canon EOS M100 en varios colores y con el objetivo EF-M 15-45 mm por sólo 399,99 euros tanto en Amazon como en MediaMarkt.

Muy similar, pero algo más avanzada (esta tiene visor electrónico), tienes una Canon EOS M50 con la óptica EF-M 15-45, una bolsa y una tarjeta de memoria de regalo por 599 euros (precio mínimo) en El Corte Inglés.

Parecida a la anterior (sin espejo y con visor) pero con un diseño diferente tienes una Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II con el objetivo 14-42 mm II en un pack especial que incluye bolsa y una tarjeta por 479,90 euros en Fnac.

Y por último, otra sin espejo en oferta es la Sony A5100 que puedes conseguir solo cuerpo por 371,95 euros en Amazon, con un objetivo E PZ 16-50 mm f/3.5-5.6 por 439 euros también en Amazon, y en un pack con las ópticas E PZ 16-50mm y E 55-210mm más una bolsa y tarjeta de 16 Gbytes por 579 euros en MediaMarkt.

Ofertas en objetivos

Si buscas un teleobjetivo todoterreno para tu réflex Canon APS-C tienes un Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM por 103,72 euros (más gastos de envío) en Amazon.

Y si lo que tienes es una Nikon con sensor APS-C y en vez de un tele quieres un ultra gran angular echa un ojo a este Nikkor AF-P DX 10-20 mm G VR que está por 322,15 euros en El Corte Inglés.

De un estilo similar pero para cámaras Canon con sensor full frame tienes un Tamron 10-24 mm F/3.5-4.5 Di II VC HLD por 551,77 euros en Amazon.

Ofertas en accesorios

Si quieres una mochila-maleta preparada para los largos desplazamientos echa un vistazo a esta oferta flash de Amazon: Una Neewer 2-en-1 con cerradura TSA, compartimiento acolchado desmontable con capacidad para dos cuerpos DSLR completos, cinco objetivos y más accesorios (incluido un portátil de 15″) por 98,59 euros en Amazon.

Si tienes una cámara de acción de GoPro y lo que necesitas es una batería de repuesto, echa un ojo porque tienes para la GoPro Hero4 por 22,43 euros y para la GoPro Hero3+ por 44,96 euros, ambas en El Corte Inglés.

Si lo que necesitas es un trípode ligero pero de calidad tienes un Manfrotto Compact Light por 42,50 euros en Amazon.

Ofertas en almacenamiento

En el siempre pujante apartado de las tarjetas de memoria, podemos encontrar una Kingston SD UHS-I Clase 10 de 64 Gbytes por 14,54 euros en Amazon.

En formato Micro, pero con gran capacidad, tenemos una SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Clase 10 U1 y A1 de 256 GBytes y con adaptador SD por sólo 62,88 euros en Amazon
