No Rest E2 C1
Sorry it’s short, bout to finish dying my hair
"And... raise your gun a little, then fire." I squinted, and fired the pistol at the target. The bullet stiked the shooting target directly in the chest, causing me to beam.  "I hit it dad!" I exclaimed, happily, turning around to face him. A smile grew on his face, as he ruffled my hair. "Knew you could kiddo." Dad smirked, lifting up his headphones a bit. I smiled, removing mine as well. This was so cool, finally learning to act like my dad.  It'd be like whenever he'd ask me what I'd want to be when I grow up. I would always point at him. He'd always smile whenever I would say it. It was one of the rare times I would see him smile.  Dad looked at me, then his watch. And exasperated sigh escaped his lips as he saw what time it was.  "Sorry buddy, looks like we gotta go." He sighed out. A frown tugged at my lips. "Why dad?" I asked. "We gotta head back. Kate and Mari want us to come back." Dad explained, startong to remove his safety gear. "But dad..." I whined, "Today I turned 10!".  "I know that buddy but-"  "Dad, when I was 4, you tried taking me to the shooting range. But then mom got mad. You promised her not to teach me until I reached double digits. You said, and I quote, 'Yo, David García, prometo a mi hijo que en su décimo cumpleaños, lo llevaré al campo de tiro por el tiempo que quiera.'." I explained, looking my father in the eyes.  Dad looked at me, then his watch. With a soft sigh he looked back at me, a grin growing on his face. "Tenth birthday is a very important day, mijo." Dad chuckled, putting his safety goggles on. I grinned, and slipped my head phones back on.  "Padre e Hijo para disparar a algunos chicos malos." I said smirking.  "No Gabriel. A gun is not a weapon. It's a means for self defense. If you're in danger, and me or anyone else isn't there to protect you, you have to be able to protect yourself." Dad explained, stepping behind me. I took the gun, and he took my hands.  My dad helped me aim again, looking at the target with me.  "You need to be able to protect yourself Gabriel."  I fired the gun, panting as the bandit collapsed to the floor, bullet in his eye. "Oh my gosh..." Clem gasped out, picking up AJ.  "I did what I had to...but..." I began. The gun began to feel heavy in my hand, slowly sliding from my grip.  "You did Gabe. I know that. Just, for a second I was scared it was Javi or Eleanor." Clementine explained, walking over to the dead bandit. She kicked the body a bit, bouncing AJ up and down. The small child whined a bit from the crying. That was a bit concerning honestly. The thought of accidentally shooting Javi or Elenaor. Both were already injured as it was... especially sense we had just lost Tripp. Oh god, Tripp.  Clem walked to a corner of the house, looking at AJ. I griamced, but decided to be useful. Gently pushing the body away, I closed the door. "Won't work if the doors locked." Clem called out. "Working on that." I thought out to myself. With a huff, I began to push some furniture in front of the door. "Need help?" Clementine asked.  "No..." I grunted out, shoving a chair in front of the door. Once the chair was secure I walked back over to her. Clem let out a heavy sigh, gently patting down AJ's hair. "What do we do?" Clem asked.  "We have to get back to Uncle Javi and Eleanor as soon as we can." I explained. Clementine nodded slowly, leaning against the wall with me. She gently rested her head on my shoulder. Her soft breathes filled my ears as she grew silent. There was no way we could go out yet. It pained us both to think about leaving them behind for now, but seeing that one bandit. The bandit had broken into our hiding spot. If one had found us, who said more wouldn't try to take us away? Or kill us? Or worse.  Getting back together was our top prority, but at the same time we couldn't go and get ourselves killed.  Clem slept silently, her breathing fill the air. I sighed heavily, listening to the twos breathing. It was all I could hear. I looked around the empty house, frowning. It reminded me to home, just before we left.  Silent and empty, all bit of furniture being used block every exit. Sleeping on blankets. Doing nothing, absouletely nothing. Left to hide away from the monsters outside.  Slowly I pulled out my cards, looking at it frowning. My cards. I remembered the days me and Mariana would play euchre in the locker room. While we waited for uncle Javi to come back. Hehe. She'd always get so mad that she could never beat me. No matter how hard she tried, i'd always win. Every time I won, she swore she would win the next game.  I frowned, pulling something out from my other pocket. Her casette tape looked the same as ever, even years later. Mom gave it to her when she was a baby. I remember dad telling me mom wanted to be a singer, or an actor. She gave up that life though when dad came back from the military, and decided to start a family with him. Didn't stop her from naming us after singers. Though it did save me the fate of being David Jr.  With a heavy sigh I put the two objects away, and finally let sleep take over.
