I know people have fun with it but man it must be exhausting trying to make a new glam for every job for every new expansion. I haven't changed Kitali's DRG glam since Heavensward except to upgrade specific pieces. MCH and DNC aren't going to change. I haven't had a NIN glam I liked since the HW artefact gear. RDM isn't even canon but that's been set since I got the Exarch coat.
Like. How tf do people do this.

gunbreaker clio is now real!!! I hit level 60!! ^-^
I’m currently on the level 44/maybe the first level 46 story quests, which is.. near the end of A Realm Reborn, but still very early to be a gunbreaker, considering you have to be level 60 to become one in-game. However, in terms of the actual storyline, Clio runs into Radovan and Sophie (and subsequently canonically becomes a gunbreaker) during the part of the game that first takes you to where you meet them - which is like level 20 or so, considering you meet them in the Bramble Patch. So that’s even more ridiculously early =P

I was thinking about WOL outfits and what not, so here's a question:
And to elaborate on the difference between option 1 and option 2, a brief explanation of my interpretations under the cut:
Illusion magic only masks the true appearance of an item, bending the light aether around the item to make it look different to the naked eye. No physical properties of the armour changes. It maintains its original dimensions and weight. If your WOL was wearing full plate armour then glamoured it to something more revealing, if someone tried to stab an exposed area, their knife would stop on impact of the concealed armour.
Transformation magic will fully alter the physical appearance of the armour into the applied glamour. It will take on the shape and structure of the WOL's desired form, but the properties of the materials used will be maintained. The high grade metal of the armour will be altered to a state where it was like a woven thread. The item would provide the same degree of protection as the original where it physically exists in its glamoured state. If your WOL glamoured their plate armour into a the street wear top, their actual abdomen could be pierced by weapon. Because this is magic you could fudge the physics if you so choose or say there's a secondary spell involved; but I'd imagine that if the transformation was completely lossless, your glamoured item will weight the same amount as the un-glamoured version. (Otherwise it would be more like a transmutation which is a lossy conversion and not reversible. The WOL turned their new savage tier BIS armour into a hempen camise and lost 95% of the material in the process. When they dispel the glamour they have that hempen camise's amount of the original armour piece.)
That's my take on the two options! I don't know if either of them really contradict any canon in-game explanations to the glamour system tbh. It's been so long since I picked up the intro quest and the only time I remember glamours being used as a plot device it was in the ARR Hildebrand quest line (I think the very end or within the coliseum arc, either way I'm not doing all that just to check and see that it says nothing of note)

Obviously XIV gives us a point of reference for character clothing through the use of glamours. However, beyond that, how does your character dress? Are their fabrics they prefer (cotton over wool, satin, silk, etc), do they tailor their clothes a certain way or do they tend to dress in certain colours? Is fashion and clothing something they care about, or is it more for function? Do they know how to repair their clothes if they get holes? What about things like shoes and accessories?
Thanks for the question! I love answering stuff like this about Mina and Theia!
General:
It ultimately depends on where she is. She grew up in Garlemald so she is most likely wearing lighter clothing than everyone else weather wise, but she's also rather insistent on wearing some sort of armour where she can.
Cotton wouldn't have been part of her standard clothing before she was twenty, since it is not good for cold weather, wool was probably something she wore often under her armour and jackets.
When she ended up in Eorzea she had the nightmare of adapting to hot and temperate weather and often wore as light clothing as she could safely get away with.
In her adventures she is always wearing some form of light armour, likely leather or cermet plate (this is a real material used in body armour!) once Cid is able to get it imported/recovered, enough to protect her from basic injury but not too heavy she can't move freely.
Places she can't or doesn't need armour:
She does have a soft spot for dresses, they're usually too impractical for her to wear though. The softer the material the happier she is, because she likes to pet it, so velvet and silk are her favourite indulgences that she rarely allows herself to have. Usually these fabrics are saved for state events she's been forced to go to due to Scion business.
Shoes: a good pair of leather boots are her favorite, something made to fit her foot and able to withstand a lot of travel and be comfortable. If it has a sole that is grippy for uneven terrain and support for her ankles, she's pretty happy. Think a construction work boot.
Accessories and little things about her:
She always wears a flower clip in her hair, she knows it's impractical, but her hair is one of the few indulgences she lets herself keep.
She also likes braids and plaits and learned how to do them. The gyr abanian plait was her standard hair style up until recently, briefly used Lyse's hair style and settled on Durante's going forward. She also dyes the blond parts of her hair green since arriving in Eorzea, much to a certain character's irritation later.
She always wears a single earring in places where it's warm, she removed them and most jewelry when she journeyed to cold regions such as Coerthas and Garlemald, to prevent frostbite. After Heavensward she wears a ring on her ring finger, the one she would have received from Haurchefant if things had gone differently and a necklace with two small crystals, a dark aspected one from Lahabrea and a ice aspected one from Ysayle. She also has a ring on that necklace after Shadowbringers from Emet-selch, which was something she had made him as Azem.
Can she fix her own clothes? Yes, it may not look fantastic on the inside, but it will be fully functional. She did get better at it from pre-ARR to Endwalker, Tataru got annoyed and sat her down and made her learn proper mending.
Colours: Mostly shades of green where she can. She has a few outfits in blue and reds, but she primarily wears green where she can. Tataru once again said she couldn't have every item be green and started making her wear other colours.

OKAY this is out of nowhere But
So according to FFXIV wiki (console games wiki, as opposed to the fandom.com wiki), there are six g tribe miqo'te that we currently know exist: g'raha tia (main character introduced in Crystal Tower quests, beloved by many), g'wahneko (armourer's guild receptionist in Limsa), g'jusana (vendor of the books needed for ARR relics), g'nibnpha (maelstrom commander, sidequest in the fringes), g'zensta, and g'nanghal
Of these six miqo'te, I've found the least information about g'zensta or g'nanghal -- gamerscapes says they're affiliated with Limsa, but I've searched both Limsa Lower Decks and Limsa Upper Decks, as well as all cities or little towns in La Noscea, and have been unable to find either of them.
And so I turn to Tumblr, because I am desperately trying to find g'zensta and g'nanghal (who were apparently added in patch 2.1) in hopes of getting any bit of information on them. If you know these two NPCs, have an image of them, and/or can tell me where they can be found in-game, it would be greatly appreciated if you did so!

Late Night Brief Forbidden Elf Lore
Curtesy of my friend @thatonediviner for reminding me of my Zenos brain worms regarding Eramus.
So Eramus is missing his left leg! He lost it during the attack on Rhalgr's Reach in SB! Harklan has been traveling with him since ARR (to keep him safe from Lahabrea) and he assumed that the Reach was safe! Usually he leave him with Tataru, but he didn't really have much choice this time. zenos goes to attack the Reach, Harklan is hiding, Eramus arrives and sees Zenos marching on Harklan's hiding spot, wastes literally no time and jumps in (he is a DRG), because he had no plan and acted on instict alone- Zenos quite literally cut him down! Taking his leg and completely changing Eramus' story, his life, everything. He falls in battle and is whisked off to Gridania since they cannot help him the reach. Then, Estinien who was tailing him from quite a distance, arrives and sees nothing but his blood on the ground, his lance broken and just a MESS of blood and armour.
He finds Eramus after a monumental break down (tearing the place apart, threatening the Scions) and takes him to Ishgard, thinking they can help him better there, the Skysteel guys make him a leg but its, not the best, it works, but its not the best. And Estinien insists he stays in Ishgard to heal, that he leaves the Scions to this for now. its around this time Eramus is called by Halone to become a Paladin, so he starts to train. But his leg holds him back. Fast forward and hes back with the Scions much to Estiniens annoyance, when he and Yugiri go to ambush Zenos Eramus is striked down and caught by him. He's taken back to the palace and Zenos tells his best men to "fix" him. Where he is handed off to Aulus himself.
Eramus gets a new leg, a magitek leg. And, oddly, he actually gets the gender affirming care he needed (top surgery, finally, he was binding up until then because he couldn't find a spell/herb to finish his transition). Zenos' guard and Aulus took it quite literally when he said fix him. But his leg was hell and pure agony, it works, it works amazing, but its entirely connected to his circulatory system. He has cerulean and blood in his veins.
Zenos would force Eramus to fight and fight and fight until he's exhausted. And then "fight" in the bedroom, trying to antagonize him, to hurt him, provoke him and make him angry. To push him to his limits. And EVERY time he "broke" he'd just have Aulus fix him up again, and again, and again.
:D

Set in ARR probably?
“Miss Vertical, you should go and speak at the meeting!”
Vertical, in a tight lipped smile, nervously pointed to herself. “me ..?”
“Yes! Of course, you are the Warrior of Light who has saved Eorzea many a times, are you not? Who better to represent us than the heroine herself!” The enthusiastic man slammed his hands on the table and leaned forward, looking at the elezen with the most bright eyed expression she had ever seen. “You will, right?”
“wouldn’t   b’ig nunh be a better choice.” She gestured to the clunkiest suit of tin can armour with bare legs next to her.
“No! I mean, no offence to your partner, I know he has been an integral part of your victories… But I feel it would be more impressive to have The Warrior of Light rather than the warrior of light’s.. weird… I mean interesting sidekick. Again, no offence, Mister B’ig Nunh.” B’ig made a gesture with his hand, causing his armour to creak, one could only assume it meant it was okay. “Miss Vertical, please, I’m Begging you!”
“...”
“Pleaseeeee,” he heaved, grabbing her hands in his. He started crying. not really, but it looked like he was.
She paused for a second and averted her eyes. “okay,” Immediately the man started jumping.
“This is the best day of my life. Okay so here’s all the notes you should mention at the meeting. Someone who has slain such ferocious beasts such as yourself would not have any trouble with these,” he dropped maybe like a stack of a million papers and documents in front of Vertical. “Wait!” He brought out maybe a million more papers.
Vertical died.
She was not actually dead, but she was definitely in a daze after the man went over his like 7 bell presentation he wanted her to do. He had long left the room leaving Vertical and B’ig with the spread of documents.
“Crazy!” B’ig Nunh got up and did a little stretch. “Gods, this guy talks wayyy too much. Okay so here’s the plan. Take this,” he handed Vertical a linkpearl.
“okay,” She put it in her ear. B’ig Nunh put two fingers to his ear.
“I got you covered Vertical.” His voice was doubled. He gave her a thumbs up.

It was the ending of the Dragonsong War, however, that brought the most significant improvement in Ishgardian armorsmithing with the reemergence of another long-forgotten forging technique: that of smelting ore in dragon flame to imbue its metal with arcane draconic magicks. It seems likely that Haldrath’s armor, crafted in a time of friendship between man and dragon, was created using this technique.
sometimes I really really wish job armours had questlines attached to them to get them (like how you earned the drachen maille over multiple quests in ARR!DRG, vs the current design of them just giving it to you automatically as a quest reward / having some blacksmith NPC make it with no preamble) bc I really want to see this

Got all my figures setup here for now! Socks was curious about what I was doing xD Whenever I finally get around to getting some shelving sorted I'll move them to a better spot.
There's a bunch of close ups of all my new ones and the other stuff my best friend got me from Japan below :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1: A monster hunter glasses cloth! 2: Physical copy of the pixel remasters for ff1-6!(I paid for this one. This version has pixel art of all the characters on the inside of the case as well :D) + FF4-6 on ps1 3: The little message on the inside of the ff4-6 collection. I have no idea what it says :D It also comes with a lovely manual as well full of cool art! 4: The discs of ff4-6 with stunning art from each of the games on them! 5: They went to the eorzea cafe and they got a little art card for each thing they ordered. This is about half of them. We split them so I got the ffxiv exclusive ones and he got the summons from ARR. There was 2 ifrits so I got the spare of that one :D 6: A dragoon job stone magnet that is already on my fridge :P 7: Paladin Cecil play arts figure! This is him from the original Dissidia game! IT ME TUMBLR NAME!!! 8: This one is for Socks. It's a cute little plate with a little kitty cook that I'm 100% calling a mh palico chef even if it isn't xD It's nice and shallow and is slightly raised so it's perfect for a cat food bowl! I'm going slow with it though cuz he's used the same plates for like 7 years now xD 9-15: The next 7 are all from the complete collection of volume 25 of the monster hunter blind boxes! There's Chaotic Gore Magala, Scorned Magnamalo, Bloodening Malzeno, Gold Rathian, Silver Rathalos, Giasmagorm, and finally each of the boxes the previous 6 came in all had these weird blue parts and when you put them together you get the special version of Giasmagorm! They all came with a little sticker as well :) 16: I forgot to take a picture of these setting them up cuz I'd already put them on my shelf when I got in last night xD We've got the silly monke Rajang :), Then there's Kirin that was my first introduction to the blind boxes from my friend jay a couple years ago, and finally A lil Palico from mh4u wearing khezu armour!
Overall a crazy amount of stuff and I love it all! I was expecting a single blind box, the final fantasy collection, pixel remaster, and the plate. I ended up with all this xD
He a real good friend :)

DAHLIA AND SCARS
Tumblr media
hello it is time for a masterpost of this gal's scars which, at this point, are rather extensive after all the trauma her body has gone through.
SCARS FROM A REALM REBORN. her scars from arr are an energy / fire blast scar she received from midgardsormr in the cs's post the keeper of the lake when he flavour blasted her into next week and took away her gift of light for a time. formerly her hands were burned during the praetorium when lahabrea flavour blasted her with that big ol attack of his with the revamped solo duty fight we get.
SCARS FROM HEAVENSWARD. haurchefant died. emotional scarring.
SCARS FROM STORMBLOOD. her scars from stormblood mostly come from the various fights she undergoes with zenos, the main one from the cutscenes following ghimlyt dark. the attack that ultimately takes her out of the fight ends up slicing through her WAR armour from her clavicle down to her navel which ultimately left her bleeding out with only the remains of her armour holding her guts in. the scar itself healed rather poorly due to her running around because trouble on the star never slept even when she needed it. she also picked at it because she has anxiety and she picks. at her scars. she sports other scars that she gained from their fights throughout, though none as bad as that one.
SCARS FROM SHADOWBRINGERS. cracks knuckles, here we go hoss. so basically throughout the expansion, from the moment she consumes the light her skin begins to crack. it isn't a big deal at first, at least to her, but the more she takes the bigger the cracks get and the more they spread. they begun at the small of her back and spread akin to a virus over the rest of her ; up and down her back to to her shoulders and back of her neck. the scars at first are a glowing white only to change to gold once the light has been expelled in full ( even though her troubles aren't over ). while not a scar, her eyes turned from emerald green to icy blue. her fight with elidibus leaves her, for a short time, with chain mark bruising around her arms where she was held in place when yeeted into the space between worlds before emet clicked her back to the fight.
SCARS FROM ENDWALKER. besties she's emotionally spent throughout lmfao, she's ( gordon ramsey vc ) RAW. but physically ? the fight with zenos wrecked her significantly as she returns to the ragnarök alive by a thread but broken with nyx'ael covering her like a sheet with their wings. seeing her reveals a sorry state that takes months to heal and tataru gifts the island to her for recovery over anything else. bloodied hands / claws, scars reopened and torn with fur from her ears missing in places - neck sliced through where had it been any closer to her throat she would have been unsavable as the damage would have been too extensive. for awhile after she has trouble walking as everything hurts, using her scythe as a support or allowing fray or nyx'ael to shoulder the pain she would feel so that she could even move to do things for herself. she suffers from chronic pain even worse than she had it after shadowbringers which is ongoing into 6.3

Speaking of FFXIV
I've started playing the free trial! And it's further affirmed that once I get a stable income source, I will get the full game and experience everything myself. Cause despite the long stretch the early game is known for I'm still having a fun time!
More down below so it's not a massive text spam on dash 😅
Tumblr media
So the game runs surprisingly fine on my laptop but graphics can chunk a bit sometimes to say the least. But here's my Warrior of Light :D!
Went for paladin route first because girl knights and they get crowns.
Tumblr media
And of course so far I made everything purple 💜. I don't think I'm taking the glamour off my weapon unless I find a cooler one, and maybe even for my current armour set idk. Look at her, looking at the bay.
Tumblr media
The gobbie's just here cause I saw it one time while camera was in idle mode in La Noscea
In other news, I've:
Went through the MSQ so far with gladiator, then went to do other sidequest stuff
Remembered they don't give much and stopped apart from a few specifics
Realised by that time my main class I wanted to stick with for the ARR expansion was overlevelled (for context, the first dungeon you get is around LV15. I was at LV31 :P)
Then realised MSQ EXP can be given to other classes so anything that involved talking I used thaumaturge
Speaking of dungeons, I did some! 3! With NPCs first then 2 with actual people. Kinda stress inducing for me but think that's mostly from me trying to multitask attacks and pulling.
Met the Scions! Actually blanked at one point when entering a building at Vesper Bay and saw Tataru before remembering they are set there
Unlocked the casino Gold Saucer
Found this which I found funny
Tumblr media
Did you know there's a Spriggan that leads you to the minion area at that floor?
And I think that's about it? Right now I'm on my way to unlocking trials which will get you to actually join a party with IRL people. Let's see how well I do. And on my way to getting that first class (I didn't feel like running to Eastern Thanalan without a chocobo even with Aetheryte, it's so far :') )
Might update, idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but anyone who read through this whole list, thanks!

Yorina Limai, Shadowbringers
Yorina was a magic user for mostly all her life, starting an Arcanist and Scholar and becoming a Redmage during "Post ARR-Patches" and through Heavensward and Stormblood. However, the dragon magic she got from Hraesvelgr to fight against Nidhogg never really left her again and always dwelled beneath the surface. By this time she had already been trained in lance fighting - Estinen taught her during the Post Dragonsomg-War Time - and even manifested a Dragoon Soulstone, but never really expected to fight as Dragoon.
After her companions fell unconscious one after another, she bacame more and more angry, witch resulted in an outbreak of the dragon magic. Some kind of aether wave reached Estinien, who went in search of her. He found her somewhere in the Sea of Clouds where she hid and tried to get the power under control again.
After some arguments and shorter physical confrontations, she not only accepted the magic but decided to use it in future confrontations. She got the Dragoon weapon and armour from Hraesvelgr and set up to The First to find her friends again.

How does your OC want to be seen by other characters?
Frog wants to be seen as dignified and well-composed, very nervous of all the imagery of her as some sort of feral warrior beast (like, starting with ARR Alphy using her as an attack dog, and then it sort of cools down but then you meet Zenos and ShB happens and - yeah). So she's become very conscious of dressing smartly and keeping her armour in top condition and her hair perfect and her weapons shiny and sharp. There's not much hope of NOT being spotted and recognised as the Warrior of Light because she's huge and distinctive in a crowd, so her best defence is double takes and being uncertain if this is the same person from legend... On the other hand if she IS going to be recognised, her legendary armour is going to be flawless and well-coordinated. I'm guessing in Frogverse she's also unknowingly a huge fashion icon and she isn't really helping her case but at least the common depictions of her are flattering :3
(Galvin wants to be seen as someone who is taken seriously too, but completely fails to pull it off even when he does try to look smart by doing things like opening his mouth or emoting inappropriately... He'd be sick if he saw how effortlessly Frog commands a crowd and maintains her public image... People don't believe he's the WoL because they just saw him trip over his own feet and shriek >:D)
