payne revelation!!! think it is a nice AFFC parallel that Brienne is running around the riverlands with Podrick Payne as her new squire, whilst Jaime, elsewhere in the riverlands, has effectively become a squire to Ilyn Payne. and I think it's like. Pod is Brienne's past and Ilyn is Jaime's future. Pod is a lonely, discarded child who wants to hone his strength to stand tall and defend himself, even as he desperately craves the company and comfort of others. he has seen something of how cruel the world can be, but is looking for ideals in people like Brienne. which is more or less exactly as we find Brienne when she first appears in ACOK: lonely, discarded, clinging onto Renly's train and desperately seeking his attention and regard, idealising him, trying to be a knight worthy of song. Pod is her inner child, and Brienne is trying to help him grow and build his strength without subjecting him to the cruelties she's known in doing so.

and then there's jaime and ilyn lmao, who I think are easily one of the most underrated relationships in the series. Jaime sees the man he could become in Ilyn: nothing more than a headsman for Cersei's whims, with no agency and no autonomy. and what's more, Ilyn has come to accept that as his lot in life. part of Jaime's project in dragging him out into the riverlands is to see if Ilyn can be rehabilitated, and if so, then perhaps Jaime himself can be, too. but it becomes apparent that Ilyn is past wanting that for himself. he seems to enjoy some of the freedom of the march, but he doesn't change. in fact, he laughs in Jaime's face: he makes it feel as though attempting rehabilitation for either of them is a joke. he's Jaime's ghost of christmas future, warning him of the man he could become, whilst simultaneously making him feel there's no possible alternative. he will never fight like he once did, his darkest deeds were still done, and what can he do but spend the rest of his days in Cersei's service. BUT jaime ultimately rejects that, effectively leaving Cersei's service to join Brienne, and pursuing change regardless.

modern theon gets electrocuted by his strawberry mango lollipop sizzle flavored vape on the clock at his minimum-wage fast food job and passes out and hits his head on a shelf of molding bread and barbrey (shift manager) wakes him up by burning him with the end of the cigarette she always has in the corner of her mouth and forces him to take orders even though he’s actively concussed and seizing and when it’s time for him to go home he wraps balon’s 30 year old truck around a tree because he’s seeing double and he calls asha for help she picks him up and drives him to the er and steals the bars of hospital soap while her brother’s brain is leaking out of his ears and balon writes him out of the will for the whole truck thing but by god does theon clock in for his shift the next day. roose (store manager) lets him sleep on the floor if he promises to not tell the police about the time ramsay locked him in the walk-in for three hours and jacked off on the other side.

im obsesed with costume designing willas tyrell and oberyn martell. i'd give oberyn a red/bruised purple/black dupatta with snake and subtle dragon motifs (fire and blood and all that). otherwise, dripping in rubies (i know it's a bolton thing, but i'm obsessed with the bleeding spear). and willas just has to match margaery tyrell's first wedding dress, thorns and all.

GRRM did AFFC so good actually. Flipped the male-centric series on its head with majorly female PoVs and then started the book with our resident paranoiapilled Cersei Lannister convinced that her killer is hiding in the walls of the Red Keep. He introduced the first true knight of the series, keeping an oath to a dead woman. No chance, no choice. Asha fighting centuries of patriarchy to fight for her throne. “Balon let her believe she was a man.” “Your father made the same mistake with you.” Sansa and the whole Vale arc? Arya’s Cat of the Canals arc?? Hello? We have been served female characters on a platter here and I for one am eating. it. up. He truly snapped here tbh.

Maybe because black stans hate them for literally no reason? If I remember correctly they actually really enjoyed their characters and talked proudly about them and black stans couldn't take it and start hating on them.

Tom Glynn Carney and Emily Carey literally left Twitter when the toxic TB fans harassed them. They flooded Fabien's Instagram posts too. The same thing happened once to Sophie Turner who deleted her Twitter account in 2019-2020. Ewan is lucky and wise to not have any social media presence. And Ewan is the only one who can still talk about his character without being scared. I mean if I was called a rapist for playing a character I would be scared to talk about the character too because I didn't wanted to be called that again.

Shame on you. You guys are embarrassing and disgusting for hating the actors and making them so scared that they can't even talk about their characters and their reasons.

Like I can list many reasons why greens should sit on iron throne but you guys really think the actors who play the characters and know more about them can't? Ofc they can but this toxic fandom and HBO are the problems.

“Daemon would have never let Jacaerys take the throne over his own sons.”

People seem to forget that Jacaerys was betrothed to and was soon to marry Baela (Daemon’s daughter).

Baela was set to become Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. If you honestly believe that Daemon would plot against his own daughter, you need a serious reality check.

Believe it or not, not everyone is like those two overly ambitious upstarts, Otto and Alicent Hightower, who didn’t settle for anything less than having their blood occupy the throne and take the crown of Consort as well.

People like Daemon Targaryen and Corlys Velaryon have proven to be open to compromises and are way more flexible.

Yes, of course, Daemon prefers his own sons. Any normal person would. But he never had a problem with any of his stepsons (unlike how Ryan Condal makes a point to create unnecessary strife between them on that show for some reason). He raised them for many years. They are Rhaenyra’s sons and his great-nephews, so they are of his blood as well.

As much as he would have liked to have his own son sit the throne, Daemon would have settled to have his daughter as Queen Consort.

And given the closeness between the Team Black children (unlike the Greens, who attempt to betray one another), Aegon and Viserys wouldn’t have done anything to try to undermine Jacaerys after he became King.
