Little Promises
Rogue x Mutant!Reader
You were in love with and dating the most brave, fierce, confident and beautiful mutant you’ve ever known: Anna Marie or as she liked to be called Rogue.
You and her met thru Professor Xavier, it was love at first sight. Your mutation, accelerated healing and invulnerability, allowed you to touch and hold Rogue, unaffected by her parasitic touch. Rogue was ecstatic the moment she realized that she finally had someone she could hold, kiss, cuddle, all the things she couldn’t do with another person she could with you.
Turns out Rogue’s love language is physical touch. She loves being wrapped around you whether that be hugs or piggyback rides. She loves kissing you and holding onto you as often as she can.
“oh sugah” she’d gently whisper in your ear, “I wish you could know just how good you make me feel. I mean truly, thank you”
Rogue just loves being in your presence and enjoying every little micro touch with you. It sends a shiver up and down her spine, the kind that elicits a little moan and squeal of giddiness from her.
Recently you noticed that Rogue’s been feeling a little down. Her eyes still show the love and joy she has with you, but there’s just a little hint of sadness.
You cuddled with her that night, a small sad sigh escaped her lips.
“What’s wrong, my Mint Julep?” you asked her.
“Sugah I know this is gonna sound weird but…” she bites her lips, a hint of red makes its way across her face, “I wanna have babies with you”
Your own face went red with a blush. “oh” you manage to say with a little smile making its way across your face.
“But…” Rogue’s mind wanders. “what if we can’t? M-my powers are touch based and o-our baby will be touching me and I-I don’t wanna hurt my little darling!”
Rogue breaks down, tearing up in your arms, “I don’t wanna hurt my baby”
You rock her back and forth gently, placing little kisses to her neck and behind her ears. “You won’t” you reassure her.
“How do you know?” she asks in a gentle whisper.
“Our baby would have my healing factor” you rub her back reassuringly. comforting your amazing southern belle. “And if not, I’m sure Hank can create some sort of power cancelling bracelet for you”
Rouge looks up at you, hopefully, “how quickly can we get him started on it?”
You giggle. “Pretty soon I’m sure. He’ll want to be our baby’s godfather though.”
Rogue giggles at the thought. She knew she picked right when she chose you, not just because your mutation allowed it but also because of the support and love you offered her.
It was a little promise. But you and Rogue would keep it for a lifetime. And Hank does make a wonderful godfather.

Filed under ‘penny for your thoughts’ :
In Age of X, when Magneto says ‘there must be a shrine in some remote corner of your being. A place of sanctity.’, in that entire speech, and in that moment, that place for him is Legacy. It’s Anna.
Because he didn’t imprison her as his own laws would have asked for; he didn’t kill her in the rubble to secure his fortress. He sheltered her. He preserved that corner of himself. Legacy (her ways and the world seen through her eyes) represents that piece of humanity in him while the rest of his soul is a butcher’s shop. He wants to trust her judgement even if her actions are breaking his world apart. He chooses to put his faith in her at the cost of himself and at the cost of the world he fights to keep afloat because he trusts her to be the better part of him.
The story starts with Legacy reminding him of how long they have been fighting for, making him reflect on the meaning of their lives. And by the end of it he comes to terms with how tired he is of that struggle, of surviving just to wake up again and again to the same grey day. So when she exposes the cracks in his fortress he chooses to see the rays of light that are coming through.
Yes, I do love that story - it had so many details written with care and respect.
