Currently thinking about what a face time with alessia would be like whilst she’s in Australia and the readers at home because of work. Full of fluff and them just happy they get to talk to each other after a hard day, saying how much they miss each other

last bit of writing from me for a few days while i'm off on holiday! might post a couple blurbs if i have time maybe

it was a warm evening on the east coast of australia and alessia was almost in disbelief it was winter in the foreign country. nearly all of the girls had been happily wearing shorts and tops each day at training, some of them even daring for a late afternoon swim.

alessia though was not that brave and had instead settled herself on the beach, bare legs spread out on a towel and top half kit out in one of your hoodies as she glanced up to watch her friends all race off toward the water, the early evening sun just beginning to dip beneath the horizon.

tucking an airpod into her ear alessia clicked dial on the facetime icon by your contact. the time in australia nearing 5:30pm would make it almost 8:30 in the morning for you back in England, as you'd sadly been unable to accompany alessias family to the tournament due to work.

you were a primary school teacher and alessia more than understood the commitment that meant, your passion and drive for teaching the next generation one of the many reasons she'd fallen so in love with you in the first place.

she had always loved kids, and seeing you speak so dearly about your students and how you interacted with them had meant she'd spent many an hour dreaming about what you would be like if the two of you one day had your own children, something that had never really crossed her mind before meeting you.

it was now saturday which meant you were finally able to speak with alessia freely, not needing to cut anything short to rush off to work. your routine so far while she was away had been the two of you speaking while you got up and ready and then during your drive to school before you'd have to then hang up.

due to time zones it was hard for alessia to stay up to call you once you'd finished which you assured you'd rather she not do anyway, wanting her to be as well rested and ready for the matches as she could be.

so mornings for you and afternoons for her were the perfect time for the two of you to call and catch one another up on what had been missed.

"good evening my love." you accepted the call and sung out happily, alessias smile widening seeing you were in one of her hoodies, and you were quick to make a joke that the two of you had the same thought considering she was currently wearing yours.

"good morning gorgeous, you look lovely." alessia complimented, tucking her knees up to her chest and moving her phone to rest against her water bottle, angling the camera upwards toward herself.

"mm yes with my bed hair, pyjama shorts and puffy eyes i clearly missed my calling as a model." you teased, moving your own phone to lean against the wall as you began to prep yourself breakfast.

"well you're glowing. australia looks good on you baby and so does happiness." you commented back with a soft smile, alessias heart melting at your words and wishing for nothing more than to just wrap you up in her arms and never have to let go.

"did you have a nice day? you had it off from training right?" you questioned, a slight sizzle heard as you tossed some diced bacon and peppers into a pan, intending to make yourself an omelette.

"we did! we went into town and to some local markets, then got some breakfast at a really cute cafe and just explored a little, it's so beautiful here. the coffee is something else! i think i'll need to smuggle some back with me." alessia grinned, indeed having somehow even fallen more in love with the caffeinated beverage since landing.

"some of the girls went whale watching but tooney made me stay back because she gets sea sick." alessia rolled her eyes, having felt immense fomo seeing all of the photos and videos from the outing.

"captain tooney gets sea sick?" you laughed, alessia forever ripping into her best friend for the horrendous time they'd all had when ella decided to drive them all round in a boat last summer on one of their days off.

"apparently so, and then instead she dragged me round shopping with roebuck and g for hours!" alessia moaned, her arms still sore from an afternoon spent helping them haul around their bags.

"that girls gonna need a second house just to store all her trainers!" you joked with a shake of your head, a comfortable silence falling between the two of you as alessia watched you cook.

the familiar domestic scene just made the heart ache that she wasn't with you right now worsen.

the two of you would always cook together and it was often the highlight of your days after grueling training on her end, or wrangling restless nine year olds for you.

since the two of you had started seeing one another this was the longest you would be separated and though it caused the two of you to be given endless grief from your friends you really were normally attached at the hip.

as a pair you were well known for forever making a one person job into a two person task. whether it be something as simple as alessia sitting on top of the washing machine keeping you company as you folded laundry or the numerous occasions you'd sit in the bathroom whilst alessia showered after training, the two of you chatting one anothers ears off about your days.

when you'd have to lesson plan for the week the blonde would always ensure at least one part of her body was touching yours at all times, if that was her head resting on your thigh, your back tucked securely into her front, or your legs draped in her lap as she traced absent minded shapes along the warm skin.

one time ella even swears she saw the two of you holding hands under the stall door while using the restroom, though both you and alessia knew she'd only spread that rumor to wind less up.

but thats not to say the two of you hadn't done other things in bathroom stalls together, never unable to keep your hands off one another for very long, especially when alcohol was involved on nights out.

"i miss you." alessia sighed, resting her chin on her fist as you looked up to meet the sad smile flashed your way, returning one of your own. "i miss you too." you agreed quietly, though as much as it was killing the two of you to be apart you would never ever do anything to hold her back from her career, nor would alessia with you, so sometimes sacrifices like this had to be made.

"i miss you more." alessia challenged perking up a little, playful glint returning to her eyes as you flipped the omelette, taking a bow at your girlfriends cheers. "i miss you most." you cheekily stuck your tongue out and disappeared out of frame to grab something from the fridge.

"i miss you more than the most." alessia countered before calling out for you to hurry up and return on screen. "you're so needy." you teased as the blonde rolled her eyes playfully, both of you well aware you were just as needy as each another.

"also you can't miss something more than the most, so therefore i win." you shrugged, returning to alessias sight as you turned the heat off the stove, moving the omelette over to a plate.

"says who!" alessia challenged, picking her phone back up as her legs began to cramp, standing to her feet and wandering off toward the water. "says the english language, and me." you sat down at the dining table, moving the phone so you were still in frame.

"well you're both wrong." alessia argued with a smile, eyes glancing off with a chuckle as she watched lucy absolutely body ella down and into the water after she splashed her.

"baby i literally teach english for a living, i can't be wrong!" you laughed after swallowing your mouthful of food. "look!" alessia flipped the camera around, showing the dazzling sunset as you squealed happily, alessia well aware how much you adored this time of day.

"take a photo of that for me please." you instructed as alessia promised she would. "it's almost as beautiful as you are." alessia quipped smoothly, grinning lovingly at the blush that spread across your face at the words. "charmer." you shook your head, smile tugging at your lips.

"oh god even on the other side of the world i can't escape youse two and your disgusting lovesick pining!" ella gagged as she appeared beside alessia, you glancing up and bursting out in laughter at the hot pink goggles on your friends face.

"what!" ella frowned, eyebrows furrowing in annoyance as you simply continued to laugh, clearly at her expense. "nice goggles you idiot." you managed to choke out, as the girl basically spent more time at yours and alessias flat than her own the two of you had formed quite the close bond.

"gotta protect the lashes, obviously!" the brunettes frown quickly disappeared as she wiggled her eyebrows goofily. "oh! did less tell you what happened last night?" tooney grinned as your girlfriends eyes widened and she tried to move away but ella snatched her phone, sprinting off away from her.

"we decided to go for a swim in the dark after we went in the spa-" ella started, pausing as she dodged alessia who caught up to her and ran off now in the other direction as the blonde yelled threats after her.

"-cause theres like lights on the beach and stuff and we only just dunked our bodies in and bolted-" a yell was heard and the screen went black for a moment before ellas head popped into frame again, you spotting your girlfriend over her shoulder still avidly chasing after her.

"-and we were running across the road to get back to the hotel and less of course tripped over and her slider went all the way up her leg-" ella continued with a loud laugh before a body hurtled into her, a flash of blonde tackling her to the ground.

"-and she couldn't get her slider off her leg and we had to cut it off!" alessias face now back on the screen you could hear ella dying from laughter on the ground beneath her, your girlfriend hitting her with a loud smack as ella cried out.

"less don't hit her!" you chastised, alessia ignoring you as she grappled with ella with her free hand, the two of them pushing and smacking one another around, their childish behavior nothing new to you.

"girls!" you called out again, firmer this time as alessia glanced to you, ella pushing her off and sitting up beside her inside. "ooo teacher voice!" the younger of the two called out teasingly, alessia joining in with a grin as you rolled your eyes at their sudden change of antics.

"it is not!" you protested with a pout before you heard the rest of the girls call out for the two as they were headed back to the hotel, ella wishing you goodbye before running off to join them.

"i'll call you back after dinner and we can watch a movie?" alessia asked hopefully as she gathered her things into her bag and began to walk off the beach. "it's a date. i love you!" you smiled softly.

"i love you, the most."

Why Daniel Ricciardo Really *Really* Needs To Do Well in Australia

He said he has nothing to prove but many (Helmut Marko) would disagree

Daniel Ricciardo was all smiles while being interviewed in a domestic terminal in Australia. As he should be. Going back home to Perth before having his home race so early on in the season is exactly what he would want right now. Comfort. Security. Familiarity.

Especially since those three things are the key parts missing in his F1 career right now.

A renowned late-breaker, Daniel was well suited to Red Bull’s cars that were aerodynamically superior and with a focus on the front end. Hence why they suit his driving style; there is no need for heavy breaking or understeer. As per McLaren’s cars which were rear-end focused and required such breaking.

Whilst Daniel Ricciardo’s lack of adaptability can be a source of criticism unto itself — isn’t a marker of a good driver that they can adapt? — it’s almost excusable. Daniel Ricciardo never belonged in a McLaren! Blue is his colour, not papaya. It’s just the car, the team. He was “unrecognisable” from all the “bad habits” he picked up being away from his ‘home team’ at Red Bull.

So, of course, it was inevitable that he did come back to Red Bull.

Inevitable in the sense that the “soft spot” Christian Horner has for Daniel Ricciardo is evident in how, despite Max Verstappen’s performance in 2017, Horner was still willing to compromise on the ‘lead driver’ model Red Bull so often adopts. 2018’s move to Renault was a shock in more ways than one; “we gave him everything he wanted,” was the line Horner gave.

Daniel’s comeback was two fold and staggered all the same. He was in the infamous ‘marketing role’ (that evaded a proper official title) for Red Bull Racing — which helped promote the awkwardly lacklustre pairing of Max Verstappen and Checo Perez — before infamously replacing Nyck De Vries for 2023’s AlphaTauri. However, it was staggered by the wrist injury from a collision with the other Australian driver. The one who replaced him at McLaren. The one who can adapt to McLaren’s break earlier/rear-end style of car that Daniel never seemed to adapt to.

A style of car that the likes of Liam Lawson drove — and outperformed — in spectacular drives when he replaced the injured Ricciardo late last year.

So where does this leave our Australian Honey Badger? He’s demonstrated the wider Paddock that he isn’t very skilled in adapting to cars, he’s lacking in driver confidence — which is crucial for late-breaking, a fundamental to his successful overtaking — and is being outperformed by both Yuki Tsunoda and Sergio Perez. As in, the two people he needs to beat to resume his seat next to Max Verstappen.

Daniel started 2024 topping Bahrain FP1 to now finishing both races at the back end of the grid. The race this weekend in Australia is going to have a massive spotlight in him. And this is not just because his face is plastered everywhere as the Australian GP markets the shit out of the charismatic face of F1. He really, really, really will need to do well to show that the last two races were just him off to a rocky start, that this is not the end.

Because if it is, it really will be the end.

And be prepared for this realization: Soon, if not already at the threshold, Quinn will be approaching the Big 3-Oh (30 y.o.). She must be in her late-20s by now! Charlotte Dawson, 47 (Australia 2014)

To an outsider, it might have seemed like Charlotte Dawson had it all. She was a judge on Australia’s Next Top Model and hosted the boxing reality show The Contender Australia and Getaway in New Zealand. Her career was widely known and she was admired by many.

But Charlotte was struggling. She suffered from severe depression for years before finally revealing the cause of her suffering in her autobiography.

In 1999, Charlotte married Scott Miller, an Olympic athlete. Sometime in the few short months that they were married, Charlotte became pregnant.

Charlotte’s autobiography Air Kiss & Tell documented the trauma she suffered from the abortion. She had been so excited at first to realize she was pregnant. “I knew I was pregnant; I didn’t have to have the test, I could just feel it. It was the most brilliant but terrifying feeling and the test did, as expected, confirm it… We were going to have a baby. I was actually going to be a mother. If there had been room to have butterflies in my stomach, I figure I could have managed that as well, such was my ability to multi-task.”

But when Charlotte told Scott the happy news, he became upset. The baby’s due date was close to the Summer Olympics and Scott considered his child a distraction. Charlotte wrote, “Inside I was in total turmoil. I wanted the baby. How long would we have to wait? Were there even any guarantees that I would fall pregnant again? Of course, I accepted without question that the Olympics was Scott’s number-one priority — I had been told that by him and a number of other interested and invested parties.”

Charlotte didn’t want to have an abortion, but others in her life pressured her into it. She was fed the lie that she needed to give up her baby for her husband’s career. This was the lie that killed Charlotte’s baby and sent Charlotte into depression. Demoralized, frustrated and scared, dhe underwent the abortion that her husband wanted her to have. After the abortion, she had her first experience with something that would never leave her: depression.

“I wanted our baby, but I felt greedy, like I already had too much, that the termination was a compromise I should make… When I got home, I felt that something had changed. I felt a shift. Maybe it was hormonal, but I felt the early tinges of what I can now identify as my first experience with depression… I should have bought a couch especially for the depression bogeyman right then and there. If I had known he was going to visit so often, I would have at least have had somewhere for him to sit, the bastard.”

Charlotte’s reluctant sacrifice of her only child for the sake of her husband’s Olympic career was for nothing. Miller was doping to enhance his performance and was allegedly caught cheating on Charlotte with a swimmer. He didn’t even make the team for the Sydney Olympics. The two of them got divorced only a few months after they were married, leaving Charlotte alone to grieve.

Her depression never left. Charlotte wrote about numbing the emotional pain with alcohol and trying to cope with her trauma: “I was just a depressed mess… I was single, damaged and miserable.”

As her mental health continued to decline, Charlotte struggled. She was repeatedly hospitalized, suffered from panic attacks, was eventually fired from her roles in TV. The management company Chic Management parted ways with her, saying her battles with mental illness were ‘damaging her brand’. Charlotte attempted suicide in 2012, but survived this attempt.

Charlotte worked against bullying and helped raise money for children’s charities. She was cyberbullied after joining anti-bullying campaign Community Brave, but continued her work. She mentored younger models, and at least one of them thought of her as a second mother. She was open about her depression diagnosis and tried to raise awareness about mental illness. But after years of suffering, her depression was unbearably painful.

On February 21, Charlotte saw some friends. Pictures posted on the internet showed a seemingly lovely day, but the friends stated that Charlotte was in a terrible mental state. That was the last time they saw her alive.

On February 22, 2014, a real estate agent from the company Morton and Morton found her body. She had committed suicide.

While media covered Charlotte’s death, many sources ignored the role that abortion played in her depression and suicide.

Christopher: If there's something good about having a home race then it's probably the fact that i can spend two whole weeks with my family, and i just love that. Also don't forget it next week we'll have the third race on the calendar!

Mingi: I've been training in the past few days, so i took a little time to get some flowers for my mom not sure which one to choose though..

Personality and Traits

Look overall once you’ve got to know him a bit and have a few chats, he’s a pretty chill guy, easy-going. Loves a bit of chat or whinge every now and then over a few drinks. You wouldn’t know this at first though since he looks so done with everything and everyone in conjunction with his gruff voice constantly sighing or telling people to go fuck themselves.

In reality, if you catch him at a time when he’s not busy, he’ll be happy enough to have a chat with you (as long as you don’t get on his nerves), same applies for everyone else in the unit. Just for fun, I see him as a guy who likes listening to drama even though he says otherwise - “I don’t have time to care about stuff like that” as he recalls the info the next day.

Though don’t get me wrong, he can lash out quite easily thanks to his developing anger issues after being in the military for so many years as well as family issues I suppose…but he tries his best to control it and is seeking help over it, for the sake of himself and being a good role-model to others and his children.

Speaking of his unit, he can be an absolute hardass on them, putting them through the worse of the worse scenarios so that they’re prepared for anything as well as being an outstanding solider on the field. He just wants them to have the best chance of survival out on field, and all while being one of the oldest members in the unit, shares his many years of experience with them. In short: when training or on operations, he shows little to no mercy on his men, will yell and scream at them to get on top of their shit, and if they don’t, suffer consequences later.

With that being said, he just cares a lot for them like they’re his own, especially the more time they’ve taken to grow and work together. He will check in on them and see how they’re doing like mentally since he knows how taxing this job is on the mind. Sometimes when they’re back in Australia, he’ll take some of them out on trips (like fishing or like driving to a nice Airbnb somewhere) or to grab food.

Pre-MW

Lachlan was born in Perth, WA to his father (who was an ex-SASR solider) and his mother who was a primary school teacher. His upbringing was pretty standard, not much to comment on, went through school pretty smoothly and was in the Aus Army Cadets in high school.

The start of his military career started when he was young. His father was still in the SASR for majority of his childhood and so when he wasn’t on deployment, he would take Lachlan to base a lot, showing him the various equipment, medals and even letting him have a go on the range once he was old enough. After hearing stories from his father and seeing all his achievements, he really was influenced by him to sign up once he was old enough to.

He enlisted at 17/18 (2000), into the Aus. Army where he served as an infantryman for a couple of years before going for commando selection, approximately at age 22 (2004). His father wanted him to go for SASR selection instead to follow his own footsteps, but Lachlan decided that the commandos were more his style.

Sometime during the mid years of him joining the commandos, Lachlan marries his wife and has two children whom he loves dearly. Few years later, they do separate on good terms due to the both of them not being able to sacrifice time for one another, along with Lachlan’s long departures and just the entirety of his line of work in general. He was paranoid about something happening to his family just because of their ties with him. When on leave, they all do meet as much as they can, especially his children who he’ll take care of. In short, he loves his children so very much and does hope to rekindle things with his ex-wife once he leaves 2CDO.

Current Events – Modern Warfare

Just like Damien, he spends most of their time out in the Middle East – Urzikstan – following orders dished out from the Ministry of Defence, unless specifically called upon by Price.

2009: Lachlan joins Lieutenant Price alongside other SAS members to raid a Russian chemical lab whilst also saving Farah and her brother, Hadir.

2019: Seen in Piccadilly and Clean House alongside Damien, Gaz, and Price. Returns to Urzikstan with Damien.

2022: Violence and Timing: help rescue Kate Laswell from AQ fighters.

Sometime in the future: Lachlan states he’s getting a little old for the full-time commando job. He plans to retire from 2CDO and transition into 1CDO (reserve commandos), where he will primarily work in the West Australian Police Tactical Response Group (WAPOL TRG), focusing on domestic counterterrorism.

Involvement with 141

As previously stated, he doesn’t particularly work alongside TF141 very often UNLESS Price specifically asks for his and/or his team’s aid. He’s met some of the members before with Damien, but very rarely do they work together with the full task force.

The two actually go waaaaay back! They’ve been good friends for years, ever since they met at an exchange exercise between 2CDO and SAS when they were both just sergeants. I think they admire each other in the sense that they both hate following certain rules/orders that go against their own morals, so they’re both willing to go against them. They’ve worked together in many operations over the years, either side by side or across the globe, and have earned each other’s trust. In general, they do have similar personalities, but Lachlan is a bit more hot-headed.

In their downtime though, they love bantering. Particularly poking fun at each other’s hats…

Lachlan has also gotten to know Gaz pretty decently too since he’s always by Price’s side in recent years. He and Price are always talking about Damien and Kyle like proud fathers ;’)

Another interesting note to add is Lachlan’s relationship with Simon Riley, rather than Ghost. There was a line in MWII suggesting Price knew Simon before he became Ghost, so taking reference from this, Lachlan has definitely met him before and has worked with him/trained him.

He could see that Simon was different from the rest of the SAS members in the sense that he was more quiet and observant, but above all, incredibly skilled in a multitude of things. He really took a liking to him – often calling him ‘kid’.

I don’t know Ghost’s lore in the reboot/if it’s the same as the OGs, however, you could imagine when Lachlan met up with Simon after a while he was taken aback by his new identity as Ghost. Of course, he was naturally inclined to ask why Simon had suddenly just changed, but he stopped himself when he looked at his overall demeanour. He knew something had bad happened but ultimately decided it was up to Ghost if he wanted to share.

Again, I don’t know how much Price knows about Ghost’s past but if he does, then Lachlan would too sometime later, either through Price dropping subtle queues or Ghost just outright telling him.

Chemical evidence for pair-instability supernova from a very massive first star The first stars illuminated the Universe during the Cosmic Dawn and put an end to the cosmic "dark ages" that followed the Big Bang. However, the distribution of their mass is one of the great unsolved mysteries of the cosmos. Numerical simulations of the formation of the first stars estimate that the mass of the first stars reached up to several hundred solar masses. Among them, the first stars with masses between 140 and 260 solar masses ended up as pair-instability supernovae (PISNe). PISNe are quite different from ordinary supernovae (i.e., Type II and Type Ia supernovae) and would have imprinted a unique chemical signature in the atmosphere of the next-generation stars. However, no such signature has been found. A new study led by Prof. ZHAO Gang from the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC) has identified a chemically peculiar star (LAMOST J1010+2358) in the Galactic halo as clear evidence of the existence of PISNe from very massive first stars in the early Universe, based on the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) survey and follow-up high-resolution spectra observation by Subaru Telescope. It has been confirmed that this star was formed in the gas cloud dominated by the yields of a PISN with 260 solar masses. The team also includes the researchers from Yunnan Observatories of CAS, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan and Monash University, Australia. This study was published online in Nature on June 7th. The research team has performed follow-up high-resolution spectroscopic observation for J1010+2358 with the Subaru telescope and derived abundances for more than ten elements. The most significant feature of this star is its extremely low sodium and cobalt abundances. Its sodium-to-iron ratio is lower than 1/100 of the solar value. This star also exhibits a very large abundance variance between the odd and even charge number elements, such as sodium/magnesium and cobalt/nickel. "The peculiar odd-even variance, along with deficiencies of sodium and α-elements in this star, are consistent with the prediction of primordial PISN from first-generation stars with 260 solar masses," said Dr. XING Qianfan, first author of the study. The discovery of J1010+2358 is direct evidence of the hydrodynamical instability due to electron–positron pair production in the theory of very massive star evolution. The creation of electron–positron pairs reduces thermal pressure inside the core of a very massive star and leads to a partial collapse. "It provides an essential clue to constraining the initial mass function in the early universe," said Prof. ZHAO Gang, corresponding author of the study. "Before this study, no evidence of supernovae from such massive stars has been found in the metal-poor stars." Moreover, the iron abundance of LAMOST J1010+2358 ([Fe/H] = -2.42) is much higher than the most metal-poor stars in the Galactic halo, suggesting that the second-generation stars formed in the PISN-dominated gas may be more metal-rich than expected. "One of the holy grails of searching for metal-poor stars is to find evidence for these early pair-instability supernovae," said Prof. Avi Loeb, former chair of the Astronomy Department at Harvard University. Prof. Timothy Beers, the provost's chair of astrophysics at Notre Dame University, commented on the results: "This paper presents what is, to my knowledge, the first definitive association of a Galactic halo star with an abundance pattern originating from a PISN." Chapter 15: Snap.

Authors Notes: I started writing this while remodeling my kitchen, so that informed the slightly quirky narrative. It starts slow, but once it heats up, it is on fire. I have tried to pull facts from RL as much as I could, but obviously there are some assumptions and flat out dreamy wishes involved here.

Chapter 15: Snap.

There is still enough light left outside to take pics next to the window. Austin fiddles with the ISO setting on his camera then nods to himself and lifts the viewfinder up to his eye.

“Turn around, I want to see that beautiful back,” his face is partially covered by the camera as he finds an angle that he likes.

You turn around, reaching your arms overhead, resting one on top of your head, grasping one wrist and looking to the side. You hear the ‘snap’ of the camera shutter and the tiny clicks of the film advancing. Remembering his advice when you were in the woods, you think about how sexy he looks tonight and look over your shoulder to take a peak at him. Snap.

You spontaneously do the classic Charlie’s Angel pose, legs bent to the side, ass stuck out with a finger gun pointing up. Snap.

You burst out laughing. Snap.

“Sorry babe. I’m trying, I’m just not a model.” you apologize turning to face him.

“I don’t want you to be a model love, just be you, you are doing great,” he says reassuringly.

“I’m not really sure what to do next,” you bite your lip and look up at him with an almost worried look. Snap.

“Why don't you lift your dress a little,” he suggests. With hands on your thighs you pull the fabric up to your hips. The thigh slit was pretty high to begin with, but now exposes your hip bone and the curve that leads to your mound.

He crouches low, so it's in the foreground. “Look down at me like when I was your plaything, next to the stream.”
