Review: The Father and the Assassin, National Theatre
Review: The Father and the Assassin, @nationaltheatre Simply phenomenal
Rajha Shakiry’s gorgeous design, Shubham Saraf’s astounding lead performance, so much to love about Anupama Chandrasekhar’s phenomenal The Father and the Assassin at the National Theatre “What are you staring at? Have you never seen a murderer up close before?” Too often, plays can feel stranded in the cavernous space of the Olivier Theatre but between them, writer Anupama Chadrasekhar and…

One Dress a Day - bonus challenges
Black and White October Star Wars: Attack of the Clones - Queen Jamillia (Ayesha Dharker)
Everyone always remembers Padmé’s royal gowns, but Queen Jamillia’s dress is just as lovely. I like the textured fabric and the beading. Like Amidala’s gowns, it’s designed to hide the queen’s shape and size, so that she can swap with her handmaidens at a moment’s notice. The iridescent shells in the headdress are really pretty.

Behind the Scenes of Planet of the Ood (Part Six)
Does Ayesha [Dharker, who plays corporate drone Solana] not think her character’s black, knee-high boots might be in danger of overly exciting Saturday night viewers? “My only criterion for buying these boots,” she laughs, “was that I could run in them, and run preferably as fast as David Tennant. He’s got much longer legs than me, because I’m five-foot-nothing and he’s six feet tall! I saw him running in a previous episode and I thought, ‘I’m not going to lag three blocks behind, going ‘What for me!’ So when I tried them on in Selfridges, I asked the man if I could run around the store.  He looked at me very strangely...”
David will be leaving this afternoon, in order to attend an awards ceremony, which entails “a mad dash up and down the M4.” What’ll he do in the car? “I’ll have lines to learn, I imagine,” he says.  “I always do.”

Jodie Whittaker is leaving Dr Who so here are some actors I think should replace her
Tumblr media
Noma Dumezweni, best known for playing Hermione in the Cursed Child and she was also in Black Earth Rising and she was really good in that. She has been in Doctor Who before but when has that stopped anybody
Tumblr media
Sophie Okonedo, best known for Hotel Rwanda I think and she was also Margaret in the Hollow Crown. she played Liz X in one of Matt Smith's early ones as well
Tumblr media
Paapa Essiedu, he was most recently in I May Destroy You and he was also Hamlet at the RSC in which he was absolutely phenomenal
Tumblr media
Jade Anouka, currently Ruta Skadi in His Dark Materials and she was also Antony, Hotspur and Ariel in the Donmar Warehouse Shakespeare trilogy
Tumblr media
Anna Chancellor, she was in Four Weddings and a Funeral and played Caroline Bingley in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice
Tumblr media
Fiona Shaw, probably best known for Petunia Dursley but she's recently been in Fleabag and Killing Eve and she was so good in those
Tumblr media
Lucian Msamati, he was in Game of Thrones and John Faa in His Dark Materials and was Salieri in the national theatre's production of Amadeus
Tumblr media
Ayesha Dharkar, I honestly haven't seen her in much, I think she's best known for Anita and Me but for some reason she just gives me the correct vibes
Tumblr media
Indira Varma, best known as Ellaria Sand in Game of Thrones. She was also in Luther and played Suzie Costello in Torchwood
Tumblr media
Anne Marie Duff, she played Fiona in the UK version of shameless and Ma Costa in His Dark Materials.

The Father (2020) – Film Review
Here is our #review of drama The Father (#TheFather), starring Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins:
Over the years, Hollywood has given us its fair share of depictions about human tragedy pertaining to regular mental illnesses. We’ve gone from comedy to drama, and we’ve even found ourselves in the romantic comedy territory with themes that riskily toy with mental disorders. The territory of the subgenre is plagued with formulas that don’t change much. An early discovery, an unexpected cure, and…
