the ‘shut up’ kiss - when a character kisses another while they are ranting, typically when they want to shut them up or are in complete awe of the character speaking that they cannot wait any longer to kiss them. 

pairing: shuri x wakandan!designer!reader

summary: the reader was nervous about her latest design she had done for the queen’s 'fuck you france’ dress, she asks her girlfriend to check if there was anything she could change.

writer’s note: ya’ll this is my first piece of writing on here so don’t judge me. i  saw such a lack in shuri x readers and honestly i just decided to write my own cus i was not having it (IT WAS GIVING VERY MUCH ANTI-BLACK). i’m usually a reader on here so i dont even know how the writing side of this website works. sorry if this makes no sense at all. PLUS i don’t even write about or for marvel.

“Shuri I need you to be ONE HUNDRED percent honest with me, okay, I cannot afford to fuck up this dress. it’s so important to your mother.” Y/n hastily said as she dragged her girlfriend by the hand to her design room. Shuri smiled and laughed as she let herself be led by someone so much shorter than her.

“Dont worry, I’m sure it’ll be great, you’re the most talented person I know,” she complimented Y/n with a fond smile on her face as they stood face to face in front of the door, “plus it’ll be fine, the worst thing my mother would say is that it’s horrendous and that you should end your career now,” she joked and Y/n widened her eyes, “other than that, it’ll be fine!”

“Shuri I love you but right now I will not hesitate to cheat on you with one of these mannequins.” Y/n playfully threatened while she opened the door and led a chuckling Shuri into her colourful design room. Each wall was covered from head to toe in pieces of different fabrics and patterns, some fabrics were kitenges that were carefully and beautifully handcrafted by some of Wakanda's most talented artists. On the wall facing the door, wall-length mirrors invited warm golden rays of light the sun had gifted this country into the room. Mannequins of different shapes and sizes with pins and needles in them were all around the room, some were adorned in dresses with the finest silks and colours, and some were bare, waiting to be tested and experimented on.

"You could never cheat on me, I’m too pretty.” Shuri countered.

“Until you speak.” Y/n smiled lovingly at her and Shuri rolled her eyes at her before letting her eyes wander through the beauty of this room. She could never get over how Y/n always managed to make every room she entered look even more beautiful than it already was. This room would never be able to look as great as it did if there was never some pretty girl working away in here, always dressed in long, flowy dresses, with her bottom lip in between her teeth while she drew on her next design, an automatic masterpiece. 

After Shuri took in the full room, her eyes finally came across the dress.

Her mother’s dress.

The dress that Y/n had been stressing about designing for weeks, wondering if it looked like crap or if it was going to be to her mother’s liking.

Shuri’s breath was blown away as she took in the dress on the mannequin. it was a dark blue/purple, a colour that never failed to accentuate her mother’s unmatched beauty, with gold accents and geometrical patterns flowing down the dress. it had a jewel-type neckline that was gold and she even managed to create a matching hat that her mother was bound to love. this look was fit for a queen, especially a queen that was looking to send a message about her country.

Y/n took Shuri’s silence as a bad thing and widened her eyes, “ So what do you think? I know it’s a little messy right now, but this is only a draft and I wasn’t sure if your mother wanted this colour. She sort of told me to do me so I kind of went wild and- oh my Lord I think I might lose my job if she hates this. this seems like a dress fit for a queen that wants to scold other nations for trying to steal from us right? Or am I underestimating the level of import-” Y/n’s fast rant was cut off by Shuri taking large strides towards her and giving her the most rewarding kiss she’s ever experienced. She was taken aback at first but eased into it, enjoying the peace being in Shuri’s arms gave her.

When they pulled apart Shuri smiled at her in awe and adoration, Y/n was truly one of the most talented women she knew, "It looks amazing, Y/n. my mother will shine in it like she always does in your designs. I can’t believe you were able to do this all by yourself.” Shuri truthfully reassured her.

Y/n smiled at the praise Shuri had given her. It meant a lot coming from her, the most brilliant woman she knew. “Really?” Shuri nodded with a smile while looking down at her, probably with hearts in her eyes, “thank you, I was so stressed about this and Okoye wasn’t helping much either she said it looked wild, but she really cannot be talking with her Fenty shade 440 that doesn't even match her head!” Shuri let out a laugh at Y/n’s joke and nodded.

“That’s her way of saying that it looks good,” She explained as Y/n smiled, letting her hands rest around Shuri’s shoulders and play with her short curly hair that she loved so, so much.

“Thank you by the way, for letting me drag you out of your lab to see some silly dress. I know you have a lot of things on your mind.” Y/n truly was thankful to Shuri, so much has happened to her, with her brother passing and her not being able to properly grieve. Y/n still isn’t able to comprehend how Shuri still finds the time to help, love and support her.

“No, thank you. for being the only person who is truly able to make me laugh like I used to.” Shuri wasn’t lying, she hasn’t properly smiled in a few months and Y/n was able to help her smile in less than five minutes. There was a moment of comfortable silence between the couple before Okoye started knocking on the door, yelling Y/n’s name repeatedly. the two widen their eyes and burst into giggles.

“YES!” Y/n calls out, suppressing a few laughs.

“Y/N I KNOW YOU’RE GOOD AT MAKEUP AND SUCH SO I WAS WONDERING IF YOU COULD TELL ME IF MY FOUNDATION SHADE WAS OKAY!” Shuri widened her eyes at Okoye's words and broke down with laughter.

“YEAH I’LL BE RIGHT WITH YOU!” Y/n yelled back, trying to control her giggles.

The two silently laughed together for a few seconds, savouring the happiness and light they gave each other in a time of eternal darkness.

I was scrolling Twitter and saw this picture. It's so cute and then I remembered something: In 1930, Mexican government tried to change Santa Claus as Christmas icon for Quetzalcóatl (K'uk'ulkan); so that year, the fethered serpent god was the one in charge to brought gifts to children in Mexico. This was to reinforce nationalism with a well know image in all the country. Sounds bizarre and amazing at the same time. Anyways, I just wanted to share an lovely anecdote that came to my mind while searching content of this ship. If someone know the author of the fanart, please let me know, so I can put the correct tag. Edit: it was just that year, because population in general was not very keen to the idea and Catholic Church less. The article is in spanish, but it has images.
