Another unnamed creature! Heavily inspired by dolphin ancestors. The skull us like a dolphin skull. I looked at river otters for coloring and body style. The talons is just a little added spice. 

Female dominated species. Prey on fish and crustaceans. Amphibious mammals. 

“Like hyenas in that the group is female dominated” 

“Females use front talons to fight for leadership. Longer talons = Leader. In most cases though the female with the largest talons is default leader without a fight.”

Unlike hyenas they live in groups that consist of the lead female, multiple females that are allowed to breed, and a couple of males that are studs. They aren’t family groups as most juveniles that reach adulthood break off and join or create their own groups. Studs regularly are chased out after a few months, this is a way to keep them from eventually inbreeding as there are some cases of juvenile females who stay within the group and then attempt to breed with the stud, which obviously is no bueno. 

“Unlike hyenas, they are very forgiving. They care for the injured/sick in that they eat first & are at the center of grooming” The leader is in charge of keeping the order when eating and will snap at anybody trying to eat out of order. The order is: Sick/Injured > Young > Pregnant > Leader > Females > Males. There are large fish that the females bring back that they feed on. 

“Being leader is favorable, as you get to choose prey & form of attack, but most females are complacent in never being leader”
