The irony is Sonnett, Lindsey, and Kelley went together and paid for a few days at a resort in Breckenridge as a retirement gift to Carli last year. And they made such a show of Carli "handing off" the number 10 to Lindsey. I'm sure that stings a bit.

Good. I’m glad. I have absolutely zero remorse for her.

You know what else probably stings? Somebody who knows exactly how hard you bust your ass to be on this team question your passion and mentality and say TO A NATIONAL BROADCAST OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE that you’re all only doing this for fame/money/followers/endorsements.

Jill Ellis touched on this in her interview with Tobin and Christen — after her benching at the 2019 WC Carli never had the same relationship with Jill, the team or the federation. She is very clearly still bitter and is very prepared to grind her axe any chance she gets. The legitimacy of her comments should be taken with a grain of salt.

There is a difference between constructive criticism of a GAME and publicly disparaging members of a team. This is where I think Julie Foudy truly shines. She played this game at every level, knows this team, captained this team and has a brilliant soccer mind. She uses all of those things to praise where praise is due and her criticisms aren’t directed towards players personally but towards tactics and game plans and execution. And in the midst of a bad performance she has never once singled ONE PERSON OUT (Alexi Lalas, if you ever so much as think about Crystal Dunn again, it’s on sight, you miserable fucking cunt.)

It’s truly hilarious to me that Fox has given him a platform to critique this team trying to win a World Cup when the closest he has ever come to a World Cup trophy is a 3rd place finish in group play and a swift kick in the ass in the RO16 by the team that went on to win the dang thing.

Carli and Alexi do not deserve to be the ones to have a national audience during this tournament.

Grassroot Soccer 2023 World AIDS Day Gala

On November 30, 2023, the Ninth Annual Grassroot Soccer (GRS) World AIDS Day Gala at Lindley Hall in London raised almost $2 million for GRS, which uses the power of soccer to equip young people with the life-saving information, services, and mentorship they need to live healthier lives.

Featuring celebrities and high-profile individuals from the worlds of sport, entertainment, and global health, the evening focused on the theme of mental health - the most critical health issue facing young people globally, and one that affects other urgent health challenges, including HIV/AIDS. During the evening, GRS honored the television series Ted Lasso and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) for their respective impact on mental health with the Game-Changer Award.

Attendees included: Christen Press, Tobin Heath, Brendan Hunt, Kola Bokinni, Billy Harris, June Sarpong, Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngouka, Fiona Ferguson, Ethan Zohn, and HALE ZERO, along with video appearances by David Beckham, Seth Meyers, Siya Kolisi, Phil Dunster, Nick Mohammed, and Cristo Fernandez.

This Sunday, 21 April, I will be one of the Boston Comics Roundtable artists with art in Outside the Box who will be present for the "Meet the Artists" reception in the Joy Cochran Gallery. The Gallery is in the Parker Room at the Footlight Club in Jamaica Plain, MA. Outside the Box is an exhibit of kid-friendly pages in coordination with the Footlight Club's production, Tuck Everlasting, which opens this weekend. The reception is 1--2 PM this Sunday, just before that day's matinee of Tuck Everlasting. Light refreshments will be served, and you will have the opportunity not only to look at the comics art on the walls but to buy copies of the comics those pages are from! Several original pages from my Drowned Town Press all-ages mini-comic Laird MacGuffin's Treasury join the work of Dan Mazur, Anthony Lathrop, Brendan Tobin, Lindsey Leigh, Reggie Themistocle, Julie DiSalvio, Robert Christie and Deborah Lang, Crispin Wood, Calvin and Nile Hennick, Mark Borok, Jerel Dye, Jonathan Todd, and Catalina Rufín. The Footlight Club, the oldest community theatre in the USA, is at 7A Eliot Street in Jamaica Plain, MA, just off Centre Street. The closest public transportation is the MBTA #39 Bus; the Green Street and Forest Hills stops on the Orange Line are each at least 15 minutes' walk from the theatre, and there are shuttle buses replacing that branch south of Ruggles 20--21 and 27--28 April. There are several parking garages in the area, though closer to the T stations than to the theatre.
