Parsnip has come to enjoy the allotment. He diligently positions himself on every piece of weed proof membrane I put down (I think because he thinks it is similar to me putting a blanket/settle mat down and he will get snacks).

He also paws at every stick I pick up, not because he wants them (if I drop them he seems confused) but I think just because he wants to be involved and receive attention

Our foster puppy Charlie had his second and third heartworm treatment! He was very brave and his buddy Eureka provided good moral support. Our resident pup Idgie is happy to have  "her" boys home and everyone is resting comfortably now. We are looking ahead to 6-8 weeks of strict rest, but luckily Charlie is a chill guy who loves to cuddle, and we are entering hibernation season here in New England anyway!

In July, my mom's dog, now our beloved family dog, started having trouble breathing. A vet said she was fine, it was probably just allergies. Over time, we watched her get better and worse...and then just worse. In November, she stopped eating and lost 2lbs (almost 1kg) and she's a tiny dog to begin with. A second visit to that same vet said she had two collapsed lungs, but at that point she was still energetic and jumping around like nothing was wrong, barring periodic coughing fits. She was even eating again for a little while, but not enough.

A different vet did an ultrasound and found a large mass pressing on her lungs. We didn't and still don't have the money to pay for more tests to see what it is, but they doubted that it's operable anyway due to its size and location. We can't take her back to them because we owe them several hundred dollars for the initial scans. And now the little pupper can't get a breath at all, she's having seizures, she's lethargic and weak and scared. My mom is keeping her drugged just to ease her pain and anxiety while we struggle to figure out how to help her. She's conscious, but stoned.

I'm disabled and have no income other than food stamps. Mom and little sis have both tried applying for Carecredit but couldn't get approved. No vets nearby take payment plans or reduce their prices. Animal control can't help. All we have is one in-home hospice that will cost nearly $1000 to euthanize and cremate her. We can't sit by and watch her keep suffering.
