This is page 14 of my graphic novel. Again, not animated, but I think this is my favourite page that I have ever done for my graphic novel. I have made the background effective that presents Dasher in the most epic way that I have ever done him. I have originally designed this pose of Dasher off my phone and imported it into my page as a PNG image. I can honestly say that I am glad that I have done this pose of him on my phone when I had the chance.

This is page 13 of my animated Graphic novel. In this page, Lucas finally starts to transform into Dasher. I have animated him taking his shirt off, putting his gauntlet on, and taking his shoes and trousers off. It was hard to animate this page because I had to focus on how to get every detail done right. If this page wasn’t animated, then It would have been easier. I was planning to add sound effects onto the page, but then I thought that I didn’t need to.

I have been looking on YouTube to see some blur effects that would help me think of new ideas for my Dasher graphic novel. I have found a short clip video of an episode of Ben 10 that has given me some new ideas. Soon in my graphic novel, I’ll plan to draw Dasher’s legs in a circular motion that will show his super speed run. I’m hoping that it’ll work on Adobe Photoshop, just because it’s a different animation software.

I have come across this on YouTube and found something out. Turns out, when you make comics or graphic novels, it usually takes up to 2-3 months of continuous work. This video is from a graphic novelist called Eric who is part of detective comics.

This has me worried about my future, because I had hoped that doing my our comic/graphic novel will be much more faster and easier. If issues takes that long, then a single Volume could take a lot longer. Perhaps a year or two would be how long it will take.

For page 7, I have done some research on what different blurs look like. I have look up which once are the most inspiring to me that would work well with my Dasher character for my Graphic novel.

In my opinion, these all look great, but it has me thinking of my own blur effect to generate. I was thinking about a blur effect that doesn’t make Dasher’s body look blurry to look at. His body will be a normal running pose, and around him will be a blanket of blue glowing haze that acts as a shield.

Based on Mario’s 1 to 1 feedback, I thought that I would take the time to redraw the school in page 2. Now that its done, I think this image is much more better than how I planned for it to look. I have added shading and lighting over the building as well as the name of the school. The name of the school is so that the reader knows where they are in the story. I have also added detail to improve on my sketching.

Mario has just had a talk with me about my work. He likes what I post onto tumblr.

He is impressed with my semester 2 planner, however the dates where I put on pages to do for my graphic novel need to have where I done the animation for them. I other words, he wanted to know when I’m doing animation. In addition, he told me that my CV should take a day to complete and that I should show it to a lecturer so I will know how to keep changing it.

He has looked at my graphic novel, and has given me some suggestions  on details. On page 2, I showed him the school. Mario suggested that I should show it in a different angel so that he knows that it is a school. On page 3 where Lucas and Julie are, Mario mentioned to me that I should animate Julie stroking her hear, and Lucas pulling on his shirt. Lastly on page 5, the panels where the backgrounds are blank with yellow and blue, Mario suggested that I should animate the background changing colour.

I have been looking on the character design for spider man off from the spectacular spider man, an animated TV series from a decade ago. I have been looking at the art style that was used to generate the character, and I was practicing that same style for my Dasher character for my graphic novel. I was busy focusing on the shape of the body as well as the shading applied for the character.

I have been experimenting if I could do the same cartoon style for my graphic novel. After it’s done, I have been amazed by how it has turned out. It was hard to copy the body shape and make it into my Dasher character, but it was worth doing.

This is page 3 of my graphic novel. From the storyboard, I have altered a few things like giving Julie a new panel shape and putting Lucas on no panel at all. I have look at some comics and found out that not every character is in a panel all the time. I just wanted to try it out on page 3.

also, I have added 2 more speech bubbles to fill in the empty space that I thought needed doing.

In addition, when I think back to last year when I did my 2 minute animation, I never thought about putting in some action in the background. So I have added some kids walking around in the background of the panels to remind myself that there has to be something interesting going on behind the characters.
