I have been looking on YouTube to see some blur effects that would help me think of new ideas for my Dasher graphic novel. I have found a short clip video of an episode of Ben 10 that has given me some new ideas. Soon in my graphic novel, I’ll plan to draw Dasher’s legs in a circular motion that will show his super speed run. I’m hoping that it’ll work on Adobe Photoshop, just because it’s a different animation software.
I have been practicing again on my sketching using the same drawing technique. I have traced over an original cartoon character and worked on building my own using the same body position. I have also applied shading to the character design.

I have come across this on YouTube and found something out. Turns out, when you make comics or graphic novels, it usually takes up to 2-3 months of continuous work. This video is from a graphic novelist called Eric who is part of detective comics.
This has me worried about my future, because I had hoped that doing my our comic/graphic novel will be much more faster and easier. If issues takes that long, then a single Volume could take a lot longer. Perhaps a year or two would be how long it will take.
Mario has just had a talk with me about my work. He likes what I post onto tumblr.
He is impressed with my semester 2 planner, however the dates where I put on pages to do for my graphic novel need to have where I done the animation for them. I other words, he wanted to know when I’m doing animation. In addition, he told me that my CV should take a day to complete and that I should show it to a lecturer so I will know how to keep changing it.
He has looked at my graphic novel, and has given me some suggestions on details. On page 2, I showed him the school. Mario suggested that I should show it in a different angel so that he knows that it is a school. On page 3 where Lucas and Julie are, Mario mentioned to me that I should animate Julie stroking her hear, and Lucas pulling on his shirt. Lastly on page 5, the panels where the backgrounds are blank with yellow and blue, Mario suggested that I should animate the background changing colour.
I have been looking on the character design for spider man off from the spectacular spider man, an animated TV series from a decade ago. I have been looking at the art style that was used to generate the character, and I was practicing that same style for my Dasher character for my graphic novel. I was busy focusing on the shape of the body as well as the shading applied for the character.
I have been experimenting if I could do the same cartoon style for my graphic novel. After it’s done, I have been amazed by how it has turned out. It was hard to copy the body shape and make it into my Dasher character, but it was worth doing.
