The team party was in full swing, you having shown up about an hour ago with your friend, having swung an invite from her boyfriend. It wasn’t unusual though, tagging along with her. Whenever there was a party, you were an automatic plus one to the plus one, and it had been that way for over a year now. You couldn’t deny that these gatherings were one of the exciting highlights of your avid social life, and you were grateful that your friend had wanted to include you from the start. As far as she was concerned, the two of you were a package, and her boyfriend was more than happy to go along with that. Where she went, you went, and the team knew to expect you along with her whenever there was something going on.

Speaking of the team…

“Hi Jeff.”

Jeff Skinner, one of the other highlights of your new social life. There was just something about the cute curly-haired boy, from his wide smile to adorable dimples to his unabashed laugh. Your friend teased you relentlessly ever since the first time she’d seen you around him, teasing you about your crush, but you knew that unless Jeff said something, there was no way you were going to act on it. You couldn’t face the humiliation of a rejection – and to be honest, Jeff really had never given you any indication that he was interested in you too.

You had enough pride to hold out, at least.

“Hey! I didn’t know you were here,” he said happily.

Jeff rooted around in the fridge, pulling out a beer for himself and handing you a black cherry white claw. Your favourite. He remembered?

“I’ve been here for an hour already,” you mused, watching him blush in glee as you opened the can, “Nice to know you noticed.”

He blushed even harder, shaking his head.

“I always notice you. It’s kinda hard not to,” he murmured, taking a deep gulp of his own drink.

“I can’t tell if that’s a good thing or not?” you said, raising an eyebrow.

“Of course it’s a good thing. It’s always good when you’re here.”

“Oh?” you prompted, only teasing a little bit.

Jeff huffed out a breath, almost seeming to squirm a little with the attention solely on him, only making you smile more. What was it about this guy?

“You’re like, so pretty? And you’re funny, always making everybody laugh with your hilarious stories. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone command a room like you do, and it’s mesmerising. Whenever you’re around, I can’t take my eyes off you and it’s driving me crazy. You’re beautiful, and funny, and so smart, and…”

As he continued rambling, it felt like something inside of you snapped. That was it. You couldn’t take anymore. Almost a year you’d suffered through not knowing how he felt for you, and this was the closest he’d ever come to saying anything that gave you a hint that he liked you too. If you didn’t take this chance now, you didn’t know if you’d ever get it again.

“Oh my god Jeff, stop talking,” you groaned.

Jeff barely had a moment to look confused before you placed your drink on the side and cupped his face, pulling him down into a kiss. He froze for a second, long enough to make you hesitate, before that freeze broke and he slammed his own drink down, kissing you eagerly, clutching at your waist with both hands. Fuck, yes, finally. Jeff kissed you over and over again, sending electricity through your body, letting out occasional whimpering noises himself. You didn’t know how long the two of you stood in the kitchen kissing for, hands clutching and lips colliding desperately, but you found that you didn’t care the moment that Jeff’s tongue slipped into your mouth, swirling with yours in a way that made your head spin.

“Goddamn, get a room.”

You broke the kiss with a jolt, Jeff not looking away from you as he flipped Dylan off, resting his forehead on yours as he tried to catch his breath. Dylan just snickered, grabbing a beer from the fridge before leaving again.

“So that was something,” Jeff murmured.

The nervousness from before made you purse your lips, moving your hands from cupping his face to resting on his chest.

“How could you not know that I like you?” you asked, frowning.

“What?”

“I’ve been so obvious! You think I flirt with everyone like I flirt with you?” you asked, a little incredulously.

“You like me like me?” Jeff asked, lips parted in surprise.

You groaned and stepped out of his arms in frustration. How could he be that blind? You knew the stereotype of hockey players not being the brightest crayons in the drawer, but this was crazy.

“Hey, no, don’t go please?”

Jeff hand lightly rested on your shoulder, still clearly nervous, but you turned back to face him properly anyway. There was very little you wouldn’t do for this guy, you knew that much.

“I’m sorry I’ve been such an oblivious idiot. You deserve better than that. Better than me. I just honestly didn’t think a girl as pretty as you would be interested in me?” he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

His self-deprecating words made you soften, and you smiled sadly.

“We have got to work on your self esteem bud,” you said, pursing your lips.

“Yeah, I know. Not my finest attribute.”

You huffed out a laugh, shaking your head as you leaned against the kitchen counter.

“I like you, Jeff. I thought you knew that and were just shy, but apparently not. I had no idea you were this nervous around me, but you really don’t have to be nervous, okay?” you said firmly.

“Still trying to get my head around the fact that you like me, let alone trying to stop being nervous,” he said, smiling wryly.

Bless his heart. His humble nature was one of the things that had drawn you to him, if you were being honest. That, and how cute he is.

“Are you going to ask me out for real or am I going to have to do that too?” you teased.

Jeff blushed but shook his head, walking up to you properly to take a hand in his.

“Would you like to go on a date with me? Because I would love to take you out to dinner,” he asked, raising your hand to his lips and kissing the knuckles.

Okay, smooth.

“I would love to go out with you, Jeff. About time,” you said, smiling up at him.

Jeff just blushed a little deeper, running his thumb over the back of your hand.

“Now kiss me again, we were interrupted,” you demanded playfully, hopping up to sit on the counter.

“I suppose it isn’t a team party until the rookies are traumatised,” Jeff grinned, stepping forward to stand between your thighs.

That was more like it.

Alright. So. Chapter 153 gives my theory that Dakan is the Phantom Scythes leader more fodder. At this point it's still possible it's someone else, but he sure is suspicious (maybe he's just a red herring though, as his PS sympathy is very much obvious).

So. We know that the snapdragon members that survived the royal assassination became radicalized, and turned into the PS. We know Lauren's parents, the 1st and 2nd apostle (and them being this high on the ladder probably means something) didn't agree with that radicalization, and were murdered for it. Now the question is, do I think Dakan could pull that off? Maybe. He is certainly close to Tristan, and the Leader just said that Lauren not being murdered is a part of his plan. Not being able to murder a child, but murdering your friends because you believe in the cause is rough, but not unimaginable. I think the interesting question is why, if it is him, he hasn't done anything about the queen, considering they actively hate each other. You'd think he'd be able to create opportunities. An accident. But maybe it is too risky - it might expose him, and the king, who Dakan is still trying to change for the better, might shut down fully if the PS kills his wife in addition to his father. He could have a complete breakdown and try to crack down on the PS instead of listening.

I do think he is very suspicious. Pretty sure he knows about Lauren's ability, and maybe he wants to make use of that later, and that's why she needs to stick around. Either way, it's still fresh in my mind how quiet he was in that whole tumultuous time after Lune supposedly died and Lauren came clean to him and Tristan. Not saying anything sure is a way to not speak lies.

The whole 'the PS knows Lauren is a detective' (because I just checked, and it's mentioned by the 3rd first, it's not just the Leader) does mean they have an informant in a small circle of people, which they confirm - pretty sure it's March, he said himself he was part of the NSA and fed the PS information. He is maybe possibly a Leader candidate? I think I remember he knew Lauren's parents, and he knew about the snapdragon. So he could reasonably be close enough to be a member himself. (Alternatively, it would be funny if he was the 3rd, since March is the third month of the year, and I wouldn't put that past the authors). Like Dakan, he also appears to wish for a brighter future. Like the 7th, it's unclear which team he's playing, considering it is currently looking like he's leading Kym and Will to their assassination. I think Dakan is still a stronger case, but I could see March.

I think these two are the strongest candidates, and I suspect that we'll see that oh-so-deliberately placed pen again soon, if we haven't already (I'll admit I'm too lazy to check rn, this is an opinion piece and not the corkboard/red string analysis this series deserves). I will say, I think the pen points more to March stylistically than to Dakan.

Another crack candidate for the Leader would be Dylan's dad - he was close to Lauren's parents, and I don't think we ever saw his body?

Herman is suspicious too, considering he's suggested March, but for now I'd like to stick with Lauren's assessment that he's an ass but means well for his country (then again, the Leader is likely someone who is familiar with Lauren, so who knows about the accuracy of her assessment. Heck, the whole story is about her assessments, based on truth and lies, being wrong.)

At this point I am wondering just how many apostles we will know when they finally get uncovered. Because narratively, the masks make more sense if we know who's behind them, and can get a dramatic reveal out of it. But that's something to theorize about at a later date.

the tenderhorny couch scene in tnno....from the wonder twins perspective

wonder twins, my children!! pls enjoy this brief detour into the brain of the more sober one during the tenderhorny couch scene. ❤

Coming into the season, Tanner had big expectations and bigger dreams for what he’d hoped would be his first full year in the NHL. He played a couple of games with the big club at the end of last year, once his junior team’s season was over, before getting punted to the Marlies to help them out on their playoff run. Which had been fun, and surely valuable for his development or whatever, but that taste of The Show — man, he didn’t want to be anywhere else. So he’d worked his ass off, earned a roster spot, and other than the incident with Kevin nearly getting his head knocked off, it’s been a dream of a season so far.

In none of his dreams, however, could Tanner have concocted this: tipsy and playing Chel on a teammate’s sofa while Connor McDavid watches.

Kevin loves it. Oh, Kev’s in his prime. Kev hasn’t had more than one drink at a time in months, and he forgets sometimes that Tanner has only met the guy that once, when they snapped some selfies in the locker room toward the beginning of the season. Kev thinks that because McDavid is his friend now he’s also Tanner’s friend. Tanner disagrees. To Tanner, the man on the couch is still Connor McFucking McDavid, and Tanner feels a little bit like he’s having an out of body experience. Like, in the corner of Tanner’s eye, Dylan is — holding McDavid’s hand? No, he’s picking at the sleeve of McDavid’s hoodie. There’s a hole in the cuff. And this is real life.

Dylan glances over toward the sofa, and Tanner wrenches his attention back to the television. The distraction is not helpful for winning the video game. Tanner doesn’t want to get smoked in front of the man, the myth, the legend. He buckles down and concentrates, digging his elbow into Kev’s side as Kev laughs and forces a turnover, then lines his digital Mo up for a massive hit.

“Wow, you’re really gonna let him do that to you?” Dylan asks.

“Fucking — fuckity fuck,” Kevin says as the puck slides uselessly away onscreen, and his chance to get a shot off before the period ends goes up in smoke. He groans and hops to his feet. “I need another beer. Connor, you want one?”

“I want one,” Tanner says, to remind him that there are other people in the room. Kev flips him off.

The long minute while Kevin’s in the kitchen isn’t awkward, exactly. Tanner just doesn’t know what to say. He can talk to Dylan easy; Dylan is the easiest person in the world to talk to. But Dylan is on the love seat with McDavid, to whom Tanner has no idea what to say. Like, it’s Connor McDavid.

“They spent the break in Cabo,” Dylan is telling McDavid now.

“Oh, nice,” McDavid says. His eyes flicker over to Tanner belatedly, like he has to remind himself to look away from Dylan. “Good call, going somewhere warm.”

“You should have gone somewhere warm,” Dylan says.

“At least I went somewhere,” McDavid says. Dylan pulls a face at him.

“It was fun,” Tanner says, for the sake of saying something. 

He’s relieved when Kev reappears with more beer. He’s more confident with Kev sitting next to him, his thigh pressed warm against Tanner’s. Feels less egregiously out of place. It’s like that on the ice, too. He’s done so much less chirping with Kev out of the lineup; taken so many fewer high-risk high-reward chances. But with Kevin next to him, he can throw himself back into the video game, tease him, swear at him, elbow him, try valiantly to win his attention back from McDavid, who, just by being there, keeps drawing it away. It’s pretty funny, actually: who would win — Tanner, trying actively to keep his best friend’s attention, or the Next Next One, existing? The answer is: Kev has the attention span of a goldfish anyway.

In the corner of Tanner’s eye, now, Dylan has his arm around McDavid. McDavid is tucked against his side, and Dylan is saying something into McDavid’s ear. McDavid murmurs something back with a small smile. Something about it makes Tanner feel suddenly like he’s intruding on a private moment, and he jerks his attention back to the game, but he can’t help sneaking one more glance. He can’t hear most of their quiet conversation, but he catches cute and Kevin.

“Stop gossiping about us,” he says, by which he really means, stop distracting me. “We’re distracted, not deaf.” He squints at the television, twisting his controller to the side. The puck is stuck in a corner, and they both have several guys trying to dig it out.

“Personally I don’t mind if you gossip about me,” Kev says, grinning. “Besides, you know what’s really cute?” He pauses the game and grabs his phone, pointing the camera at the love seat.

“Don’t you fucking dare,” Dylan says, starting to sit up, but it’s too late. Kevin now has a very cute picture of the two of them cuddling. McDavid seems uneasy about this; Dylan seems grumpy; but Kev doesn’t seem to notice anything amiss at all, so Tanner throws himself back into the game and lets the weirdness of the moment pass them by. The ideal way to deal with conflict.

And yet, despite being notably more sober and arguably more determined, he loses the damn game. The way Kevin whoops and dances about his victory makes Dylan and McDavid laugh, though, so Tanner concedes defeat with minimal complaining. He lets Kev swoop in and kiss his forehead, and doesn’t even blow up his spot by calling him out for how many times he’s watched the end of the Helsinki  gold medal game on YouTube.

“Oh, that was awesome,” Kev says once they’re out on the sidewalk outside of Dylan’s building, waiting for their ride. He’s beaming, unaffected by the cold, his breath leaving him in small white clouds. Tanner’s not drunk enough to not feel the cold, but his forehead is still warm where Kevin kissed him. “Man, Stromer should have told us Connor was coming. But that was so cool.”

“It was very cool,” Tanner agrees, pulling Kev back by when he strays too close to the curb. Kev sways into him, hugs his arm, rests his head on Tanner’s shoulder.

“That’s gonna be us, you know?” he says dreamily. “Ten years into the league and still hanging out. Old and retired and still hanging out. That’s gonna be us.”

Tanner doesn’t think Dylan knew that McDavid would be showing up tonight. McDavid looked so tired, and Dylan kept looking at him with such concern. And Tanner doesn’t know McDavid on a personal level, obviously, but he did read the book, and between that and the vibes in the room tonight, he would feel confident betting that the relationship there is more complicated than “best friends from junior.” The way McDavid wrote about Dylan felt like he was writing about someone he missed. Tanner would never say that out loud, of course, and it’s none of his business, but he’s dying to know what got left out, if only because now, listening to Kevin’s babbling about their future together, he can’t stop thinking: I don’t think it’s that easy. I don’t think it was that easy for them. I think it might be harder than we think.

He pats Kevin’s head through his toque. “Wonder twins forever.”

“Mmm,” Kevin agrees happily. “Wonder twins forever.”

Hi Kay!

I just wanted to take a moment and say how deeply moving (and overall comforting) I find your writing to be! I've gone through almost the entirety of your masterlist twice in the past month alone and have found myself returning more often to the pieces of literature/poems your reference sometimes. (Especially that one poem by Benedict Smith! I've read a few more by him because of you and they're just wonderfully lovely 💛 so I'm eternally thankful to you for including it.)

I may be wrong in assuming, but I believe you may have studied/are currently studying a degree involving literature. I hope this isn't too foreward of me but I was wandering if you have any other works of literature that you'd recommend? (I'd love to read anything you recommend from poems to plays 💛) I'm slightly embaressed to say but the works I've read are quite limited to a highschool level and since I'm currently studying Pharmacy, there are very few people who can recommend me such moving works. :)

First of all... I'm incredibly sorry for how long it took me to reply to this ask, I know you sent it weeks ago and I'm honestly just ashamed of myself for only replying now! I've been taking a bit of a Tumblr break again, or rather a break from literally everything, and I guess not having written anything in a while made me feel guilty whenever I opened Tumblr, so... All I can say for myself really is that I'm sorry you had to wait so long! Again, I never ever ignore anyone, I promise! It just sometimes takes a while for me to reply 😅🙈

Now, I'm so happy to hear that you've been enjoying my writing! 🥺🥰 Hearing that it's comforting and inspiring to you is honestly such a relief and indeed does make me happy more than I can say 💚 It's so cool that you're checking up on all the references I make aaahhh 🥺🥺🥺 I love it 😁 You're always more than welcome, love! I don't think I could stop including references to literature, culture, history and the science around it even if I tried 😅☺️

And yeah, I did study classics and newer literature as a minor for my undergrad degree 😄 But tbh I still work with literally a lot even now (I'm in grad school for media and cultural studies) even though it's technically not something I've been properly taught ☺️ I'm just a nerd who likes to learn on her own, and with media and culture you can pretty much delve into almost anything you want 😂😅🤷🏻‍♀️

Now, it's not forward at all to ask me for literature recommendations! 😁😃 I truly love recommending stuff!!! I have a few up my sleeve, even though you've probably heard of a few already, for obvious reasons: A lot of what I truly enjoyed reading was something Tom Hiddleston has worked on in one way or another! It's truly a magnificent guideline for picking new literature... Just look up the literary origins of his films/shows/plays and you will be in for quality literature most of the time! I don't think I've ever mentioned it on here, but me reading High-Rise (JG Ballard) because I heard Tom would be partaking in the film adaptation was actually what sparked my love and passion for literature!!! Yep, it's that good. Now on to the recommendations though 😁(This... got rather long):

Plays

Anything by Harold Pinter really, but for obvious reasons you'll find a lot of additionally fun stuff for Betrayal, which is lovely and truly funny if you're in on the kind of humour btw

Medea by Euripides (a classic, but I love it nonetheless... You can find translations in almost every language) ((and pls stay away from Seneca's Medea, because ugh... Euripides is far better AND the og story, as much as anyone can say that for Greek mythology)

La Bohème by Puccini (I know, this is technically an opera, but if you read the libretto it's honestly just like a play... And if you're up for it, the og story is in prose and written by Henri Murger... It's better than the opera, but oftentimes more difficult to find) ((this one is hilarious and basically explains an entire cultural subgroup in the 19th century)

Faust by Goethe (many people hate it, but I LOVE this one!!! It's also been translated into any and every language, and it's so interesting philosophically!!! It's also referenced SO freaking often literally everywhere, and the operas and ballets based on it are always my fave) ((there's technically Faust I and Faust II, but you're good to go just reading the first one)

Anything by Shakespeare, obviously... Though I do love me my Hamlet like every other literature enthusiast (Yes, I can do that one famous soliloquy in act 3 scene 1 by heart as well...)

Poetry

Again, anything Shakespeare for the win, but I LOVE the sonnets and keep a copy of them with me most of the time (Yes, I own multiple copies of the sonnets...) ((My faves are 116 and 91, but there's always so much truth to be found in there!!!))

A lot of the stuff William Blake wrote is amazing, though you have to pick carefully with him if certain religious motives aren't your thing... I love The Tyger, which is an individual poem, and the collection of works called Tyger, Tyger which does have many good ones and a few ones that are a little more on the mediocre side

Do not go gentle into that good night by Dylan Thomas (I know this one by heart as well... It's beautiful, and there's a version of Hiddleston reading it on YouTube, which gives you even more goosebumps than the poem does anyway)

Invictus by William Ernest Henley (same for this one, also read by the one and only) ((I love to read this when I'm feeling down or powerless))

The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock by T. S. Eliot (This is another wow piece with many quotable lines and truths... I love it a lot and keep coming back to it! It's also a great example of how literary modernism tried to condense the complexity and passing of time and history into a single frame that had to be intrinsically poetical in nature... As in, this poem could've been a short story in any other period, but modernists loved to make everything a poem so here you go)

Der Zauberlehrling by Goethe (This one sucks in all English translations I’ve found, poetically speaking, but in German it’s such a fun piece! If you’ve ever seen the Disney ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ with Mickey Mouse or listened to the orchestral piece by Paul Dukas, then this poem proves very useful in truly understanding either! But again, the English translation should only be taken for informational value... The German one is also worded hilariously)

Prose

Short edited by Alan Ziegler (This is a collection of short prose forms that honestly is a must for me... I love this book to pieces and have had it for years now! It’s an international anthology, so you’ll find more and less famous authors from all around the world represented with short stories, prose poems, short essays and just curious and interesting snippets of writing! I draw a lot of inspiration from this book)

High-Rise by JG Ballard (As mentioned above, I owe this book part of my personality... I don’t think I would be the same person without having read it. It’s not necessarily full of wisdom, but if you’re interested in a different kind of portrayal of the human condition, then this is the read you need to take a look at)

The City of Dreaming Books by Walter Moers (This is another piece that changed my perception of literature, even though this is a more ordinary and ‘fun’-value read... It’s one of my favourite books and it’s endlessly entertaining! So if the classics are a bit heavy for you, this one is perfect for casual readers as well! Its value really does lie more in the realisation of how fun literature can be, and the freedom you have as an author... So really, I could recommend everything by Moers, his style is amazing both in the German original and in the English translation. Yes, I’ve read both.)

Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett (This is comedic gold, stylistic gold and generally a bloody perfect book. Also a ‘fun’-value read, but it also does a magnificent job at showing you what you can do with literature, and how well-developed characters are supposed to be written)

The Penguin Book of the Undead (Penguin Classics) edited by Scott G. Bruce (This book is basically an education on fifteen hundred years of supernatural encounters and how culture wrote, used and perceived them. You get introductory texts for different periods and social groups, explaining how and why ghost stories were written and used, followed by passages of the prime source texts (eg. ancient necromancy shown on The Odyssey). Really, this book is just for cultural history nerds)

The Earthquake in Chile by Kleist (This isn’t necessarily one of my faves, but it has helped me understand what studying literature and culture can do for you. In case anyone remembers my insistence in Wicked Game that you gotta know what a pomegranate symbolises... this novella is such an instance where this knowledge would prove useful. Generally, it gives many opportunities to think about privilege and circumstance)

The Symposium by Plato (You’ll probably not want to read the entire collection of speeches tbh... But the concepts introduced mainly here and in some of Plato’s other work are well worth looking into! For example, the ‘double being’ introduces a concept that in modern fiction is called soulmates... Just sayin’)

You woke up the morning of your birthday to find your room covered in balloons. Walking down the stairs, you found your best friend, Michal Cajkovsky and his teammates in your kitchen.

“Guys! It is eight in the morning! What the hell are you doing here?” You asked

“Uh baking a cake” Marek said as if it was obvious

“Can’t you do that in your own house? How’d you even get in here anyway?” You asked jumping from one question to another

“You gave me a key, remember?” Michal reminded you

You sighed, yet again you regretted giving him that key to your apartment. He’d always pop in at the most random times.

“Are you ready for the party tonight Y/N?” Tomas asked

You nodded in response “Yeah, I can’t wait”

THAT NIGHT

You threw on your favorite little black dress that your boyfriend always loved to see you in and you texted him.

Everyone began to arrive midafternoon. You greeted everyone with a big smile, looking forward to the party tonight. That was when you walked over to your best friend.

“Thank you so much for doing this” You smiled as you rested your head on Michal’s shoulder

You walked around the room, talking to each and every person who would wish you a happy birthday. After walking around the room multiple times, it sunk in that your boyfriend still wasn’t here. You would continuously sneak small glances to the front door in hopes that your boyfriend would walk in. You checked your phone to fine no texts or calls from him.

You figured he was just running late so you turned your attention back to the conversation you were having with Marek and Tomas. You guys – well mostly they were – sharing childhood stories. Tomas must’ve said something funny because Marek burst out in laughter after his teammate spoke. You smiled and faked a laugh, pretending to actually care about the conversation they were having.

You walked around the house yet again, but this time you made sure to thank everyone for coming. You continued to attempt to be interested in whatever conversation your guests were dragging you into, but you couldn’t help but worry where on Earth your boyfriend was. After managing to sneak away from the crowd, you pulled out your phone once again, so you decided to text him to see what was going on.

Y/N: Babe are you alright? The party started an hour ago

Michal stood on a chair and rang a bell that he pulled out of his pocket “Dinner!” He called to the group

The team, the rest of your guests and yourself gathered around the table. Since you were the birthday girl, you were forced to sit at the head of the table. You hated to admit it, but the guys made an amazing dinner. Passing the food around, you were sure to get a little bit of everything on your plate. However, you couldn’t help but notice the empty seat where your boyfriend should have been sitting.

“So how’s Y/BF/N?” Patrik asked

“Alright, he must be running late though, but he said he’s be here any minute” You lied straight through your teeth

Patrik nodded then went back to eating his food. You could feel a tear starting to form in the corner of your eye so you politely excused yourself and went to the bathroom. When you closed the door, the tears instantly began to stream down your face. You found yourself crumbling to the floor as you wept. Minutes later, you heard a knock on the bathroom door.

“Go away” You muttered

“Y/N, open the door” You heard one of your boyfriend’s best friends, Jack, say

“Please Y/N” Your boyfriend’s other best friend, Dylan, say “It’s just the two of us”

You got up off the floor and opened the door. The two boys immediately engulfed you into a hug.

“What’s wrong?” Dylan asked not letting go of you

“He said… he said… he said he’d be here” You sobbed into his shirt

“Y/N, we can’t understand you” Jack replied

You pulled apart from the two boys, took a deep breath to attempt to collect yourself, and then repeated what you had just said. “He said he’d be here”

“I’m so sorry” Jack said and hugged you again

“Let’s go upstairs and clean you up a bit” Dylan suggested

You nodded and then led the two boys up to your room. Your heart sank as it hit you that he actually wasn’t coming. What was supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life turned out to be one of your worst. You sat down on your bed and the two guys soon joined you. The three of you sat in silence as you attempted to get yourself together even more.

After a few minutes of sitting in silence, you finally spoke “I think I’m ready”

You guys walked back downstairs where everyone else was still sitting around the table. You half hoped that your boyfriend was magically sitting at the table, but alas he was not. You sighed and Jack, Dylan and yourself sat back down in your seats at the table.

“Are you alright?” Michal asked as you sat back down

You nodded “Yeah, I’m fine”

You ate the rest of your dinner in silence. As you listened in on everyone’s conversations, you couldn’t help yourself from looking at the door every five seconds in hopes of seeing is smile burst through the door.

Everyone finished dinner and then moved to the family room where you turned on some hockey game. You honestly didn’t really care about the score, or who was playing as a matter of fact, since your best friends and his teammates were lounging in the same room as you. The cameras switched from a game to a few people in the stands. You recognized one face immediately….

Your boyfriend.

Your jaw dropped in shock. Without saying a single word to anyone, you ran up to your room, flopped down onto your bed and let the tears fall. As you were crying, you heard the front door open and the house get quieter and quieter. You don’t know how long you were lying in bed, but you eventually got up and changed into something a lot more comfy. You took off what was left of your makeup and returned to your room. You scrolled through twitter until your phone began buzzing. It was a call. From your boyfriend. You were extremely hesitant to pick up, but you eventually did.

“Look, Y/N, I’m sorry I couldn’t make it” Your boyfriend began

“Y/BF/N…” You said but he didn’t hear you

“My cousin invited me to go to a soccer game” he rembled on

“Y/BF/N.” You repeated

He still didn’t hear you “I was gonna invite you, but you had your party…”

“Y/BF/N!” You yelled causing the other end of the line to be dead silent. “I’m sorry too” you drastically lowered your voice

“What? What do you mean you’re sorry? You have nothing to apologize for” He replied clearly confused

“I’m sorry, I should’ve known better”

“Are you-?” He asked

“Yes” You interrupted “I’ll see you around Y/BF/N”

You couldn’t bear to hear his response, so you hung up the phone before he could say a word. You put on some sad music, something you always did when you ended a relationship, and shoved your face into your pillow.

Countless songs and tears later, you heard a knock on your bedroom door.

“Go away” You yelled even though you figured it was Michal coming to check on you

Sure enough you heard his voice through the door “It’s me”

Yet again you yelled “Go away”. You groaned when you heard your door open; you had forgotten to lock it when you came in to cry. You felt the bed dip when Michal sat next to you. “I said ‘go away’”. You mumbled

“I just wanted to check on you, make sure you were okay.” He replied as he laid down next to you

“Oh I don’t know, I just broke up with my boyfriend who decided a soccer game was more important than my birthday party, does it look like I’m okay?” You asked lifting your head up and looking at him to show him your tear stained face.

He gave you a ‘come on really?’ look as he spoke his next words. “Turn off your sad music, he was ugly anyway”

“No he was not!” You protested as you shot up from your laying positon

“Yes he was.” He argued as he sat up and grabbed your phone from your nightstand.

“Noooooo! Gimme my phone and let me suffer” You whined

“Noooooo!” Michal mocked you “You are not going to suffer”

“Please leave me in my misery” You continued

Instead of verbally responding, you saw Michal get up off the bed. He then put his arms around you and lifted you up. He carried you bridal style out of your room and down to the living room where he put you on the couch. You looked around to see the house was completely clean in comparison to the mess it was in earlier that day.

“Why did you bring me down here?” You asked as Michal sat down next to you

“Because we are going to play some video games to get over this boy” He said

You sighed, already knowing you were going to regret doing this with him. However, by the time you two called it quits, you were having a blast beating him in Mario Kart. At the end of the night, you were dead asleep laying on Michal, not a single thought of your ex-boyfriend was in your mind.

Rays of sun kissed every corner of the large park as I swung happily, enjoying the breeze through my hair and the soft squeaks from the swing set. “I bet I can jump off farther than you can,” he said from beside me.

“Yeah right.”

“Wanna bet?”

“Hell yeah! When I win you have to buy me an ice cream cone. Actually TWO so that I can shove one in your face and eat the other while I laugh at you,” I giggled, swinging higher and higher.

“No. When I win, you’ll be the one covered in ice cream!”

“You wish,” I laughed. “Go on then, jump!”

And he did, landing with a thump in the grass, only stumbling sideways a little. “And that is how it’s done,” he cheered arrogantly. “Now jump already so I can shove an ice cream cone in your face!”

“Whatever!” I yelled as I prepared to jump from the swing. I was flying until I hit the ground rather ungracefully, and stumbled backwards, landing on my ass. All I could hear now was Dylan’s howls of laughter. The bastard didn’t even bother to help me up.

I stood and dusted myself off while he composed himself, though it took a few minutes. “That was great,” he said, wiping an imaginary tear from under his eye. “Now it’s time to pay up.”

I pouted but followed Dylan reluctantly to the ice cream stand across the park. I watched him pay for a vanilla ice cream cone, and when he turned to me, I took off in a sprint.

“Hey! Come back here Y/N!”

“You’ll never catch me!” I yelled over my shoulder. I knew I wouldn’t be able to outrun him but I ran as fast as I could. I passed a group of children playing soccer and a few dogs playing fetch with their owners, everyone enjoying the sunny afternoon.

Running out of energy, I headed for the large elm tree in the middle of the park, where I rested and caught my breath, preparing myself for the inevitable.

“Dang, you’ve gotten faster,” he remarked, just as out of breath as I was.

“Just do it already,” I pleaded, closing my eyes and waiting for the cold treat to coat my face.

“You didn’t think I’d actually dump this ice cream on you, did you?” he chuckled.

I opened my eyes. “What do you mean? I lost the bet.”

“But that would be mean. I got this so we could share it,” he smiled, pulling me against with his arm around my waist. I was surprised, but smiled at him- the boy of my dreams. “Here,” he said, before abruptly shoving the ice cream onto my mouth and chin.

“Dylan!” I screamed. “I can’t believe I fell for that!”

He threw his head back and laughed loudly, which distracted him enough for me to snatch the cone from his hand and do the same thing he did to me.

“Hey!” I only smirked at him while licking whatever ice cream was left in the cone. “That was uncalled for.”

“You deserved it.”

Dylan glared at me playfully before grabbing me by the waist again and pulling me in for a kiss, our sticky ice cream faces now smooshed together.

I broke the messy kiss. “You’re crazy, Dylan O’Brien.”

“Not as crazy as you.”

Great. This is just great. Memories that I haven’t recalled in months now invaded my mind with a thick fog that I couldn’t see through. I couldn’t sleep last night, and trying to focus right now seems impossible, as I trudge into my office building in my zombie-like state. Why can’t I stop thinking about him?

I try to push any thought of Dylan and Lauren out of my head as I make my way to my desk after stepping off the elevator. Quietly mumbling a hello to Ben, I slouch at my desk and start my computer.

“Well, good morning to you too, sleepy head,” Ben chirped, pursing his lips with his usual sass.

I just gave him a look as if to say, “I’m not in the mood.”

He rolled his eyes at me. “I know you have your cranky mornings, but you don’t have to be a soggy hoe about it.”

“Sorry,” I huffed. “I just... don’t want to be here right now.”

Ben sighed dramatically. “I do not know why I put up with you sometimes,” he said, taking one of two coffees from his desk and putting it onto mine.

I swiftly grabbed the coffee and greedily took a few gulps, immediately feeling better. Did I mention how much I love coffee? “Me neither, but I’m incredibly lucky that you do,” I hummed, leaning over and kissing Ben on the cheek.

He laughed. “It is quite amazing how fast your mood changes with a little caffeine. You’re welcome baby doll.” He cleared his throat. “So what’s the deal?”

“With?”

“Queen Bitch and your man. Duh”

“I wouldn’t know. I just walked in. And I wholeheartedly hope that I don’t have find out all the gory details of last night.”

“And I wholeheartedly hope you do, because work was just starting to get boring before you walked in with lover boy yesterday. Oh wait, two lover boys.”

I rolled my eyes. “Well I’m glad my hot mess of a life amuses you. And I’m gonna pretend you didn’t just refer to my co-workers as ‘Lover Boys.’”

Before Ben could respond, a laugh echoed throughout the office; one that drives me absolutely insane. Lauren, with her arm hooked on Dylan’s, cackled as they entered. What's so funny? And why does my desk have to be so close to the elevators?

I caught Dylan’s eyes and he smiled and nodded towards me. I forced a smile back, but my face dropped once I met glances with Lauren. Her eyebrow raised and she smirked. “What kind of game is she playing?” I mumbled, as the two of them made their way towards their desks.

“Who even knows?” Ben chimed in to what was supposed to be my own personal conversation. “But by the looks of it, their date last night went well.”

All I could do was groan. Of all the girls at the office, why her? If Lauren wasn’t in the equation, I probably wouldn’t be having these feelings for him flooding back to me, though Ben would probably disagree.

“Whatever. I’m just going to focus on work, and not think about them at all,” I said, trying to convince myself more than I was trying to convince Ben.

“Whatever you say, Hun.”

The morning went by excruciatingly slow. It felt like I had been perched at this desk for days, but only a few hours have passed. I tapped my fingers impatiently, finding it hard to sit still.

“Can you chill?” Ben asked. “It’s bad enough I have to deal with your leg bouncin’ all the time. Please don’t make tapping a thing or I will have to murder you mercilessly. Right here in the office. Don’t embarrass us like that, Y/N.”

“I think I need another coffee.”

“No, no, no. Caffeine will just make you more fidgety. Go take a walk or something. Here,” he said, handing me a pile of folders. “Go run these reports over to Trends for me. Thanks hun bun.”

“Ben, no.” He knows fully well that Dylan works over in Trends.

“Girl, yes. You and I both know that you’re just dying to talk to him.”

“No, I most definitely don’t want to talk to him.”

“Yes you do. Now go.”

“No.” Ben gave me a look that reminded me of when my mom used to scold me as a child. “Ugh,” I pouted. “Fine. But I hate you.”

“Sure you do.”

Bringing the large stack of folders up to my chest, I stood up and started heading towards the Trends area. Striding over, I put the reports on James’ desk, the leader of the team. He nodded to me as a thank you, and I pivoted to head back to my desk, but someone called my name.

“Oh, hey Dylan,” I responded, walking over to his desk. I was kind of hoping to avoid him, since he was oh so snuggly with Lauren this morning, and I would rather not have to hear about it, but it was too late now. He had stood up and made his way around the desk to lean on it. “How are you?”

“Doing pretty good. How ‘bout yourself?” he asked.

“A little tired, not gonna lie. This day just feels like it’s dragging on.”

He laughed. “I know what you mean.” I peered around, checking to see if Lauren was ready to pop out of nowhere like she usually does.

“So...” I hesitated, not really sure if I should actually finish this sentence. “How was your date last night?” I asked, nudging his side as I turned to lean on his desk beside him, my teasing and cheery attitude hopefully covering up the fact that my whole body was burning with anger and, fine I'll admit it, jealousy.

Dylan looked at me with the same expression he had yesterday after I found out him and Lauren would be going out together. Studying my features, analyzing my expression.

I kept up my happy demeanor even though the way he looked at me caused more mini flashbacks of our past relationship to pop into my head.

“Oh,” he said after a moment, finally turning away. “It was nice.”

“Just nice?” I asked, still teasing.

He let a sheepish laugh leave his lips. “Yes, it was the perfect amount of nice. Quite nice indeed.” I smiled when he decided to humor me.

“Hmm, interesting. I didn't think you were the type of guy to settle for ‘nice,’” I replied, using air quotes. I was technically implying that he could do better than Lauren, and I was only half hoping he would pick up on that.

“Oh, Y/N.” He stood up and placed himself in front of me. “I know you think you know me, but I've changed a lot in the past two years.” Is that a smirk I see?

“Well, Dylan, I've changed a lot too,” I poked him in the chest.

He squinted and the corners of his mouth quirked up. “I can tell.”

Though I was curious to find out what about me he found noticeably different, I ignored that part of me. “I’m guessing you’re still a huge Star Wars nerd, though.”

“Of course! How can anyone not like Star Wars?” he defended himself, laughing.

“I’m not trying to knock Star Wars, I’m just making fun of you.”

Dylan gasped mockingly. “At least I’m not obsessed with that dumb reality tv show! What was it? The Bachelor?”

“Hey! I’ll have you know I watch it for comedic purposes! And the Bachelorette is way better. Boy drama is hilarious.”

As we laughed together, I found myself staring at him again. The moment felt exactly like the one we shared yesterday just minutes after we had met for the first time in two years. I knew what he was thinking, because I was thinking the same thing: this feels just like old times.

“Dyl!” We both heard Lauren’s annoying call, but neither one of us acknowledged it, trying to stay in our moment for just a few seconds longer before we were inevitably interrupted.

I was the first to look away from Dylan and at Lauren, who seemed to be pissed judging by the way she stomped over to us in her heels. Her perfectly perfect smile wasn’t enough to cover up her mood this time. It was only when Lauren firmly grabbed Dylan’s shoulder that his eyes left me.

“Hi babe!” she squealed, completely ignoring my presence now. “Look what I brought you!” Her face was dangerously close to his and to be honest, he looked kind of uncomfortable with the proximity. Or maybe it was the yelling. Why the fuck was she so loud and high-pitched all the time? “It’s green juice. It’s like super healthy for you, and that’s why I got you one! You have to keep your energy up, it’s still your first week on the job!”

“Oh, Lauren. Thanks,” he said, taking the bottle of green, lumpy slime in his hand.

“It’s no problem at all! Anything I can do to help you, babe!” There’s that word again. Cringe.

Since Lauren obviously doesn’t give a damn that Dylan and I were having a conversation, I’ll just leave. I don’t want to hear her obnoxious voice anymore. If I don’t leave now, I might have to hear her spew something about their “nice” date last night.

“I had a lot of fun last night,” Lauren whispered, bringing her arms around his neck, not ashamed at all to act so clingy while in the office. I’m going to vomit.

“Alright, and that’s my cue to go.”

“Oh! Y/N, I didn’t see you there,” Lauren smiled sweetly, still clinging to Dylan.

“Sure you didn’t,” I replied, not in the mood to play fake nice today. I smiled at Dylan before squeezing past them.

“Wait, Y/N,” he called after me.

Instead of sticking around to hear what he wanted to stay, I glanced back with a, “See you later!” before heading back to my desk.

“So, how’d it go with Lover Boy?” Ben asked. I huffed.

“It was going great, until you-know-who showed up.” Ben and I made an “Eck,” sound in unison.

“Let me guess. Lauren has already made wedding announcements?” I just snickered in response. What did Lauren mean when she said she “had fun” last night? Did they just have a delightful dinner or did they...

“Y/N. I need you in my office,” Cheryl interrupted my thoughts, thankfully. She sped away before I could even respond to her, but I quickly got up to follow her back to her office.

After closing the door behind me, I took a seat in front of Cheryl’s desk. “Has the new employee been acquainted?” she asked bluntly, and somewhat disinterested as she looked over papers on her desk.

“Mr. O’Brien? Yes,” I replied. “He settled in easily and has been hard at work. He fits in nicely in my personal opinion.”

“Good. That’s very good,” she glanced up for a moment before shuffling through more documents. “Remember to have his report written up by next week.”

“Of course.”

“Also, I need you to help finalize the current campaign proposal before we bring it to the board tomorrow. I would do it myself but I need to leave early today.”

“Yeah, no problem.”

“Great. Mr. Barnes is waiting for you in his office.”

“Ethan?” I said aloud without thinking.

“Yes. Is that a problem?” She looked at me confused.

“No, ma’am. Of course not.”

“I understand you two are dating now, but I expect you to keep it professional while at work.”

I found myself too shocked to respond as she ushered me out of her office without another word. Even my fucking boss thinks Ethan and I are dating. Great. If this “news” has reached Cheryl already, why haven’t I been contacted by HR? I guess I’ll deal with that problem when it arrives.

Slouching my way over to Ethan’s personal office, I mentally prepared myself for his flirty demeanor and cocky persona. I knocked a few times before letting myself in.

“Y/N. What a pleasant surprise,” he said, winking at me. “For what do I owe the pleasure?”

“Cheryl wanted me to help you with the campaign proposal you’re working on.”

“Oh, perfect. Come have a seat.”

I made myself comfortable across from him at his desk while he rearranged papers and folders, handing me a few. “Alright let’s get started.”

I was surprised to find that Ethan and I working together on this project was strictly professional. No snide remarks or innuendos from him. He’s actually a decent person to be around when he’s working. We finished rather quickly and I was relieved. It’s well past lunch hour and I haven’t eaten. “Thanks for your help on this. If I had to handle this myself it would’ve taken forever.”

“No problem,” I replied. “I’m happy to be of service.” I stood up and stretched a little before making my way to the door. I only made a few steps before I felt Ethan grab my hand.

“Wait, Y/N.”

“Yeah?”

“I just wanted to apologize,” he said.

“For what?” I asked, my eyebrows furrowed with confusion.

“For yesterday. I basically demanded that you go to lunch with me, and I came off like a total jackass. I’m sorry.” I searched his steel blue eyes and all I found was sincerity. I never thought I’d hear an actual apology from Ethan Barnes.

“I appreciate your apology,” I smiled.

“For what it’s worth, I’m really glad you said yes. I had a great time,” he said with a soft smile.

“Me too.” I looked down at his hand still holding mine, and wondered what would happen next. I don’t know if I want anything to happen at all. Maybe I should just leave...

“O-oh,” we heard someone say from the doorway, and my head snapped up to see it was Dylan. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt,” he said audaciously, chest out and eyes scanning Ethan and his grip he still had on me. It was obvious he wasn’t sorry at all, and his bold aura that entered the small room made me drop Ethan’s hand as if I had done something wrong.

“A polite knock wouldn’t have killed you,” Ethan shot back, obviously annoyed. But there was something else in his tone... Suddenly I could feel the tension in the room, and it was rising as the two glared at each other.

“Well anyway, Y/N, I need to talk to you about this report,” Dylan said, completely ignoring Ethan’s reply.

Wanting to avoid whatever the hell was going on here, I left Ethan’s side and started towards Dylan and the exit. “Um, yeah of course--”

“What was your name again? Was it Daniel?” Ethan interrupted my flee, stalking forwards arrogantly.

“It’s Dylan.” His jaw clenched as he mimicked the dominant posture Ethan displayed.

“Right,” Ethan dismissed. “Well I just want to emphasize to knock next time,” he all but growled. “It’s rude and incredibly unprofessional to barge in the way you just did, and Y/N and I were not finished doing business.”

“Whatever I walked into sure as hell didn’t look like business.”

I saw the anger rising in Ethan’s eyes and I wanted to interject, but I’m too occupied with confusion as to why I’m suddenly standing in a warzone between the two alpha-males. Both obviously have issues with one another but I can’t figure out why.

“Whatever business I have with Y/N is none of your business. So why don’t you go ahead and show yourself out while we finish up here,” the blonde sneered. They’re talking like I’m not even here.

“You see, I would but I kinda have this really important work thing that I need her help on, so yeah. Not leaving without her. Thanks though.”

Ethan was all but fuming because of Dylan’s remark, and I finally came out of my shock and confusion long enough to cut in. “Alright boys. That’s enough. Ethan, we were done anyway.” I looked into his blue eyes with a warning not to argue. Turning to Dylan, I gestured for him to lead the way out, wanting to keep myself between the two. With the door shutting loudly behind me, I took a deep breath, happy to be out of that intense situation. Why it escalated so much was still a mystery to me.

“So, what is this report we’re looking at?” I asked, as we walked back through the office and towards my workspace.

“Here,” he responded, handing me a folder covered in colorful sticky notes. He was obviously still tense. “James told me you were the best person to talk to about this.” I sat down in my chair and quickly skimmed the first few pages.

“Right, okay. Well--”

“Are you hungry?” he interjected. “We can talk about it over lunch.”

“God, I’m starving! Yes please.”

Episode 2 - "Fuck I’m on the cursed tribe" ~Moth

dennis is very sneaky. we all had a tribe call and he said he'd come later but he was actually doing the hunt challenge. like that's totally fair, it's just even afterward he acted as if he was not really focusing on it either. im going to play the game assuming he has something, just in case.

Dhsjdjsjskksks. First tribal done. We just finished the taboo challenge ... A good bonding experience with my tribe. However, I have a feeling we lost. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 The fact that I was the guesser. Rip. 

I filmed confessionals but my internet got disconnected hahaha so that's neat. Hopefully there will be youtube videos here soon, but new update Jodi and I are in alliances with Dennis and brayden separately which I think would be hilarious if they were also in am alliance together. And it will be funny it my internet is still out for the challenge tomorrow since I'm the guesser 😆 whoops

So this is the beginning of round 2 and here are my thoughts. Might purposely not be helpful in the taboo challenge lol but i have to do it in a way that doesn't show im throwing it? tbh i say this now but when i start playing the urge to win comes in ugh but i just wanna vote one of these people out. I also took a stroll through the wiki page for this org and i love that some of these people (esp brayden and amy) have played before and their stats are there like yassss give me ammunition yassss!!!! anywho i dont care if we win or lose tomorrow i think i set myself up nicely within the tribe and i still really dont think any of these people won the hunt challenge on my tribe but again who knowssss. if we lose the logic would probably be go for josh or ginny aka the least active people buttt i dont think so like i don't wanna go the boring route. i need to keep josh close to get to merge with him we have friends on the other tribeeeeeee so i need them to survive and i need him and i to survive till we swap or merge to link up. im also trying to win a hunt challenge but my god y'all have me fucked up!!!!!!!!! i guess we shall see what happens tomorrowwwwww

It was nice sitting the challenge out, I'm busy tomorrow and the fact that they could complete it is good for me. Also, if we lose, nobody can blame me for the loss. Only drawback is it appears to me some people can be getting close by bonding over funny things in a game. I have to go back and see who may be close, I don't think I'm next on the chopping block, but I'm definitely not in control. To me, I do not need to be number one on this tribe, I just need to survive the next tribal and hopefully make it to the swap at 14 or 15.

HEY SO KIND OF A LOT OF DEVELOPMENTS TO MY GAME we didn't lose first challenge!! thats great. whatever. no tribal. I've been trying to connect with fellow tribemates but overall we're all pretty quiet. I did have a small 30 minute call with Jay where we kinda connected on somewhat of a game level. I kinda get the vibe that he may not fully trust me or he might see my as a threat, but I want to work with him. I also really like Anastasia and Elle, I think I can connect with them more on a more genuine level. Perfect scenario for me would be setting up a trio alliance of Me + Elle + Anastasia, and then having Jay on the side as my actual #1. idk if I can pull that off, but that was my plan heading into round 2 BUT. AS ROUND 2 STARTED, MY GAY ASS WON THE HUNT CHALLENGE. AMAZING. idk HOW I managed it because like?? I finished and found the hidden link within like 20 minutes? Statistically very unlikely BUT I'm so glad I did it. I WON A SAFETY WITHOUT POWER. It's kinda like a hidden immunity idol, except slightly worse because I can't actually partake in tribal at all. we went ahead and competed in the Taboo challenge last night and boy it was kinda rough. We lost a LOTTA points because we kept accidentally saying forbidden words (I lost us 2 points, woops). But we ended up with a semi decent score. Elle did an amazing job guessing. I really hope we can pull this out. SO YEAH SORRY THATS KIND OF A LOT. OVERALL I FEEL LIKE IM IN A DECENT POSITION, WAY BETTER NOW THAT I HAVE A SWP. I wanna further my position in the game with some allies now. That's my next biggest goal. toodles!!!

So I've figured out that Amy is a comp beast based on us discussing our old seasons and how she did in those: she always talks down her abilities because she's worried she's being painted as a big challenge threat, but I don't think she realizes that doesn't matter to me at all. Ultimately, I think she needed to be at tonight's challenge more than me, so I decided it's ok to sit out since I'm sitting out only because somebody has to, not because I don't want to play. In tribal challenges, it means she'll help keep us winning tribal immunity, and further down the line, if anything, I'll be using her as my "Ken" and if she wins everything, it'll keep immunity away from people I want out. 

I think I did much better in Taboo than I did in endurance, so I'm happy about that. Hopefully my performance this round can help me redeem myself with my tribemates.

So! We did the Taboo challenge and got second place, probs wouldve got first if we didnt get deductions but also we did so good so whatever 😂. I definitely kinda pushed for us to do the challenge last night bc it's Dylan's birthday and I didn't want to have to like, be anywhere specifically today 😅. But yeah we did super good and now I'm gonna go talk to ppl bc I've been gone all day lol

SO. Here’s the rundown: We lost. Again. Pushing for Shaad to go. Moth, Jared, and Danny all agree with him going. So far I’m getting good vibes with everyone. Danny says he gets along with Jared well and doesn’t talk to Moth that much. Plus, Jared, Moth and I have that little alliance. Jared and I also get along well. Worried for Moth as she doesn’t seem to message a lot. This tribal... I’m feeling safe. I might even make an alliance with Jared, Danny and I. Worst case scenario for next challenge we lose and Moth goes. 

Yay we won again! Anyways, Dennis messaged me tonight talking about how everybody else knows each other from playing Stings games before. He said he checked the series wiki and got freaked out and told me that we're two newbies amongst vets. While he's telling the truth, I'm actually not too panicked because 1) I actually checked out the wiki before he told me about it and 2) I have pretty decent relationship with Amy to incentivize her to keep me around. I worked tightly with Amy for the specific reason that I knew she'll have others to work with, and for her to keep me as a loyal number. I also know that she was runner up of another series and she already recognizes the target on her, so I doubt she wants to risk me putting a bigger one. WOW FOR ONCE I'M NOT THE FLAMING TARGET I LIKE THIS

So, tbh I've done some research about some previous seasons and I noticed Moth and Jessica have played together before. Moth still has not talked to me but Jessica has been overly friendly. I know they have a group message with Jared and I know he can be the split vote between what happens in our tribal tomorrow. Jared claims he has voted for Moth but we will truly see tomorrow. But honestly, if he chooses us, then Jessica is next unless the tribe swap or merge has happened.

Fools tribe is bad at playing games. And its perfect for me because I am safe but i am wishing for drama bcs its fun. rn we are doing small talk and being so nice to each other. I think we will form an alliance officially soon but i am too awkward or like i dont know how to say it or bring it up.

Jodi: Jodi remains at the top of the tribe for much of the same reason as last round. Now, she is even in two alliances with no one wanting to come for her nor do they see her as playing both alliances. Hopefully Jodi’s quick alliance making and constant worrying will help strengthen her defenses in the later rounds to come when people will be looking at her more closely.

Amy: Amy is still playing that stellar UTR game. No one seems to register her as a threat despite their access to the wiki and her performance in the challenge. Her social game is just too strong. Additionally, her greater willingness to work with Dennis than Jodi’s willingness to work with him may provide some good allies for Amy if she ever wants to distance herself from Jodi.

Brayden: Brayden rises in the rankings from last round as he has become more closely aligned with Amy and Jodi. The trio seem to see themselves as the only “active” ones on their tribe and are very quick to bond. Additionally, unlike Dennis, Brayden is not viewed with suspicion by either Jodi or Amy. They definitely feel more like a core alliance than they did with Dennis. Furthermore, Brayden is poised to get the people he wants gone out of this game. He is targeting Josh and Dennis which are good targets, especially the latter. All it takes is for Brayden to push a little for Dennis and I am sure the two girls will take the bait. Finally, Brayden’s connection with Ginnifer is very beneficial since he seems to be the only one willing to work with her at the moment. This gives him a very easy ally and Ginnifer doesn’t have much of a choice besides working closely with him. It is certainly an easy number for Brayden if he ever wanted to backstab Jodi or Amy in the future.

Josh: What lands Josh here is that he performed well in the challenge and is easy to like. Interacting with Josh on calls is always a pleasure. However, by not being part of that main trio, he is in danger of being voted out on a whim. Despite that, he seems to be, in my eyes, the least likely out of the bottom 3 to be voted out. Additionally, there is paranoia around people’s “experience” with ORGs surrounding these bottom 3 from others (despite the fact that the top 3 is composed of 2 people with ORG experience). Josh gets this heat the least.

Dennis: Dennis is in real danger if this tribe goes to tribal council. If Brayden pushes hard enough, Jodi can be easily swayed into turning on Dennis. He needs to back off with the strategy talk and just be more social. What saves him from last is that he is in that alliance with Jodi and Amy. This might make Jodi hesitant about targeting Dennis so soon as she may see him as a number. Additionally, Amy does seem keen on keeping Dennis around for a little while which would help his longevity. Hopefully Dennis can realize people’s perceptions of him before it is too late considering that he gives great confessionals and is one of my favorite players this season.

Ginnifer: Ginnifer may be on the bottom, but she definitely has a chance at avoiding being voted out. Most talk around Ginny is about how she is hard to socialize with, but I am sure, when the strategic game starts becoming more important, she can navigate out of this position. After all, she does have Brayden advocating for her which can definitely help. She would need to push for Dennis if she wants to survive until the swap at this point.

Fools

Jared: He takes the number 1 spot on this tribe as he is working with both “sides.” He is serving as the perfect double agent for Danny and Shaad. Additionally, he is making the smart move of getting rid of an obvious duo wherein he was the third wheel of that alliance. He has a great strategic mind on his shoulders, but is it too early for him to show that off? Regardless, he has earned this top spot by avoiding the target cleanly and betraying his allies perfectly. Jared is definitely a contender for the winner spot as he has shown some excellent gameplay these past two rounds.

Danny: Danny has done well in avoiding the target this round as well. He seems to be more sociable and active than Shaad which is the main reason that he is not the one getting Jessica’s and Moth’s vote. Additionally, he was the one that brought Jessica’s and Moth’s pre-existing relationship to Jared’s attention which caused this flip to happen in the first place. Finally, Danny made an excellent move by pairing himself with Jared as this duo could be something fearsome to go up against in the future. The cards are being laid out for a force to be reckoned with and I am excited to see what Danny will do in the future.

Shaad: It is hard to tell if Shaad did anything himself to avoid being voted out, but, regardless, he did something right by aligning with Danny and Jared instead of ratting to Jessica and Moth. In fact, even if he does rat, he will still land himself at number 3. He is not going to get voted out here, and has an established alliance moving forward. And now that he is putting more focus on the game, I am happily anticipating what he can accomplish now.

Jessica: Jessica is being blindsided tonight. However, at the very least, she is not the one going. Her performance in challenges have helped her avoid the target for the time being. Here we can see that the boys weren’t inactive, they were just inactive with her which spells doom for Jessica if this tribe goes to tribal council again. Unfortunately, the boys found out about her prior connection with Moth. The only thing Jessica could have done was to distance herself from Moth at the beginning of the game, but that seemed unlikely since people were inactive with her. I hope Jessica is able to survive until a swap because it would be devastating to see her go so early.

Moth: There is nothing Moth did that landed them here. It was just an unfortunate circumstance wherein they are targeted because of a prior connection. Additionally, I doubt Moth is going to see this coming.

S.E.E.S.

Colin: With an advantage in his hands and him being the most popular bachelor on his tribe, Colin is quick to make allies and his allies like it that way. It feels as if everyone wants to ally with Colin. His activity in the earlier stages of the game have definitely born fruit.

Elle: Similar to Colin, everyone wants to work with Elle. Her social game is just that strong. Nothing much else to say besides what I said before, but the challenge definitely helped raise Elle’s standings in the tribe.

Anastasia: Similar to last round. Nothing much to say.

Jay: He is keeping out of the spotlight which is good.

Babs: No developments. Still viewed in the same way though has noticeably been less unhinged in the tribe chat.

Jennifer: Still the same as last time: seemingly inactive and might be targeted for it.

2. Who’s the one to send the other “Ilove my gf/bf” memes

Maxie wouldnever do this, and wouldn’t find memes particularly funny either.  If one of them were going to send “I love mybf” memes to the other, it would have to be Archie.  Even then, he’s not that on top of currentsocial media trends and jokes, so the only way he would really see memes wouldbe if one of the grunts showed them to him. So he doesn’t generally send them to Maxie, and if he did, itwould be more to tease him since he knows Maxie wouldn’t appreciate it.

5. How many years did it take to getmarried or was it just not for them

If you countfrom the time they first starting dating when they were in Team Rockettogether, then it takes roughly 20 years for them to get married.  From the time they reconcile after the eventsof ORAS, they’re married less than a year after they’re back together.  They honestly would have been fine nevergetting married, but once they decide to try for a child, they decide to getmarried for legal reasons.  They don’thave a wedding ceremony and just get a marriage license issued through a court.

7. Are their friends/family supportive

Theirfriends/teams are mostly supportive, although they’re initially weirded out byit on both sides for varying reasons (although most aren’t that surprised whenthey really start to think about it). The Team Aqua members are slightly more supportive since they just wantArchie to be happy, but most do wonder why he would choose Maxie of allpeople.  Surely there’s someone he’sinterested in with a more agreeable personality.  Most assume their shared history is the maindraw, since the grunts are aware of the fact they were together in somesort of capacity back when they were in Team Rocket together. 

As for TeamMagma, they’re even more surprised than the Team Aqua members, since theassumption is that Maxie isn’t interested in being involved with anybody ingeneral.  More than a few grunts wonderif the rivalry between their two teams was actually some sort of long running lover’sfeud, but have enough sense to not voice this in front of Maxie.  In that sense, they’re more wary about theidea of them getting together, since they’ve already proven a breakup between thetwo of them has the potential to get ugly. In an effort to avoid Maxie’s wrath, no one is actually unsupportivethough, and as time goes on, everyone is relieved to see that the two dobalance each other out, even if they’re still prone to arguing.

As for theirfamilies, Archie is the only one that still has some contact with his family,specifically his mother.  She’s aware ofall of the shared history between the two, so she’s understanding of theirrelationship and is supportive, although like most, she’s concerned whetherthey’re relationship will end badly like it did last time.  Since she’s been around since the beginningthough, she’s not as worried as most since she figures if the two still havefeelings for each other after 20 years, they can make a relationship work ifthey really try for it.

As forMaxie, he cut all ties with his family around the same time he joined TeamRocket.  He comes from a wealthy familywho has very conservative views on what the role of an omega should be.  To escape that, he ended up leaving home theday he was of age and never looked back. If they were to somehow find out about his and Archie’s relationship,they would approve of the fact Maxie was finally settling down with an alpha tohave a child, but wouldn’t think that much of Archie in particular, thinkingMaxie should have found someone of higher social standing.  Archie being a self-made man who managed tobuild his own organization would be a point in his favor, but the fact he wasborn to a ‘lower class’ single mother would overshadow a lot of that.

8. How does one comfort the other when theother is in distress/having a panic attack/crying

It’s rarefor either of them to get upset to the point where they’d cry or have a panicattack, as both are good at repressing those sorts of emotions.  From both their time in Team Rocket and thenas the leaders of their respective organizations, they couldn’t afford to showweakness, so even around each other, they still don’t completely let thatdrop.  It’s too ingrained at this pointto always seem strong and collected.  That being said, Archie is the more transparent of the two and also theone who’s more honest about what he’s feeling, but when Maxie breaks, he breakshard. 

Talkingabout whatever the issue is can go either way since they’re prone to arguing, sothey’ll generally physically reassure the other first (whether this be throughsimple holding the other all the way up to sex varies), and once the other hascalmed down, then they’ll talk about whatever is bothering the other.   Both tend towards being pragmatic, soactually solving whatever is causing the other’s distress is viewed by each asthe best approach.

15. Have they saved each other’s livesbefore

Probably,almost certainly a few of those times being when they were in TeamRocket together.  What initially sparkedtheir relationship was how well they were able to work together in stressfulsituations on the fly.  While they hadseen each other around headquarters and Archie had tried to engage Maxie in conversationa few times (which resulted in Maxie brushing him off), it’s not until theyboth get into a dangerous situation on a mission together and are able to getout of it through quick-thinking as a team that they actually start to interactmore (or rather, Maxie deems Archie worthy of engaging with).  There are likely other situations they’ve beenin together where failure could have resulted in death, and it’s throughworking together that they’re able to keep each other alive.

21. What is their song? Like the song thatgives them overwhelming feelings?

I honestlycan’t see either of them having a specific song that’s “their song.”

22. What song do they listen to while goingon a joyride

Like most oftheir interests, they have completely varying tastes in music, so the mostcommon compromise is to either listen to nothing or turn whatever they do endup listening to down low.  They don’t generallygo on joyrides, so this would be an issue that rarely comes up.  The most likely time period they would have goneon random joyrides would be when they were first dating in their 20s, andduring that time, they’d be more likely to actually alternate who got to choosethe music.  This then turned into howlong the non-chooser could tolerate the music choice before demanding they puton something else.

37. Do they get into fights often? If sowhat do they fight over and how do they make up?

Theydo.  A lot.  Anything and everything is fair game to fightover, although it’s most often their differing viewpoints on how to approach anissue that gets them into arguments.  Tosome extent, bickering is second nature, and each has gotten better at nottaking what the other says personally, so it doesn’t often escalate into a fullblown fight.  When it does though,they’ve found it’s better if they each separate for a while to cool off, andthen re-discuss whatever the issue was once they’ve each had time to calmdown.  Part of what tore theirrelationship apart the first time was their inability to see the other’sviewpoint, so this time, they make a promise that even if they don’t seeeye-to-eye on an issue, they’ll always listen to and respect the other’sopinion.  It’s hard sometimes, butultimately a difference of opinions isn’t worth the loss of theirrelationship.  They’ve already learnedthis the hard way.

40. Who would fight in honor for the otherif someone would insult them

Both of themwould in varying circumstances.  It cango either way if they’ll fight someone if the person is simply insulting theother, since they both are forced to accept a certain amount of criticism dueto their past actions in Team Aqua and Team Magma.  Some criticism is fine, particularly if it’strue, as they’re both trying to rebuild their image in order for Team Terra toget backing.   They’d certainly want tofight the person, but they have to choose their battles in order to not damagetheir reputation further.  If the insultsstart to get particularly vicious or untrue, then it’s more likely they’llchallenge the person to a Pokemon battle to prove them wrong, but again, it’s a cost-benefit situation.  If someonewere to actually threaten the other though, then without hesitation, they’dfight for each other.   Of the two, Archie is slightly more likely to fight someone simply because he’smore impulsive than Maxie.  Maxie isbetter at repressing his feelings for the sake of the Team.

42. How would one react if the other was todie

Ultimately,as sad as each of them would be if the other were to die, they would move onand continue with their lives.  It doesdepend somewhat on when the other were to die though.  If it were to be shortly after their teamsgot back together, or especially while Dylan was young, it would be harderthen.  Not only would the survivor haveto lead the Team alone, but they would also end up as a single parent, alone inraising the child they had vowed to raise together.  In some ways though, due to having so manypeople relying on them, it would force the survivor to remain strong foreveryone else.  Having Dylan wouldprevent them from falling too far back into their old habits as well.  While Maxie would be at risk for becomingcold and harsh, he couldn’t for Dylan’s sack. In reverse, Archie would have to remain firm and resolute for Dylan, andcouldn’t fall into being impulsive and reckless.  It would be hard, but the survivor wouldultimately vow to live on in place of the other, doing the best they could toraise their child and make Team Terra the organization they had dreamed of together.

Episode #1: “brb gotta go to dinner” - Logan

This is literally the worst possible outcome, I would know the 10 fkers on the other tribe and only know of like 2 people on this tribe, sayonara it's a wrap a mere 5 minutes after the cast reveal concluded.

Omg! So this game started and i landed on a short witches tribe.. Maybe we are short but the humor around Helgamine is definitely tall. Love my tribemates! They are a bunch of really chill and fun to talk to people. At this stage of the game my goal is to get a good grasp on the already existing pre-game relationships within people. This knowledge will allow me to know what to say and to who. Other than that i'm focused on developing bonds with people without approaching them with gametalk. A pretty slow start for me, i don't need at all to jump into making alliances left and right. It's the beginning so its important to just leave a good (and non threatning) impression on my  tribemates.Those people seem to want to CALL a lot during the day JASHDKGAHD and i'm still exhausted from study group calls for exams so.. i'm not gonna be trying to do a lot of that. I'm however really excited for what's this game is going to bring up <3

Gonna do my own first impressions as well, to put some of my thoughts together.

Daisy - oh how i love her.. She's so positive and adorable. We have a pending plan for a call and I'm really looking forward to it. She's more experienced in discord ORGs than me and we are both BaR winners so.. we gotta work together. At least for now. She seems like someone that would be a bigger threat than me down the road.. I feel like we have a potential to work together well and I'd want to establish a duo with her and be partners in crime in this tribe. <3

Scott - OMG the only person in this whole cast that i actually knew before this game? we didn't talk in like 4 years but when i saw him in this cast i literally gasped. I enjoyed catching up with him and he is definitely someone i could see myself aligning with. Yesterday we shared each other concerns about a mention of alliances and alliance calls. And neither of us  introduced gametalk with other tribemates. He also mentioned that he wants me to be his #1 in this game. And i'm digging that!

Rob - OKAY our conversation on day 1 was p much awkward.. We have a mutual friend from the fb org and he was mad at me for winning an ORG over her and he literally didn't hestitate on letting me know that.. But we talked a lot yesterday and found out many common interests. He wants us to be like Fenella and Shonee and i mean why not? I really like talking to him but i'm not sure if i can trust him yet. He's the first person that reached out to me about doing a call and we did one today LMAO i had a lot of fun. He's definitely very social so keeping him as close as possible to me can only bring me some benefits. stan him tho <3

Seamus - Someone who i saw around forever but never had any opportunity to talk or meet his ass.  i just vibe w/ his clowny personality and already called him a caveman and a half british. <3 hoping to build a good connection here.

Logan - Funny and very active. He definitely stands out as he talks the most in the tribe chat and plans all the tribe calls. We had some good convos so far, mainly about total drama. Love watching his videos for this immunity challenge KSAJDHG but other than that i'm not sure how i feel about him but i would like to get close to him and work together when the game gears will switch on

Jules - She's so adorable and our talks are very cute but... they don't happen very often.  And she's not really contributing in the challenge so far which i really hope is going to change because in case we lose i fear that people will view her as an easy prey for the first boot? I hope that won't be the case and that she's going to snap cuz i think she's lovely and i enjoy our conversations.

Conor - Didn't have much to write about him until today. He just dyed his hair to the same color i got last summer so we have no choice but to stan. For real tho, we are the only europeans on this tribe (maybe even entire game?) but i don't have much to say about him. Curious how he will approach the game once we are forced to start playing.

Gage - Hmmmm! I like him, but don't really have any kind of trust towards him. He's just quite flirty and the flow of our conversations is weird/forced? I can't stop thinking abt Dean Kowalski and Spencer whenever he messages me.. It's like he's their survivor child.

Vincent - Great he immediately brought up his twin brother with who i played twice and ended him... twice as well. I literally have no idea how or what to talk about with him :/

Hmm the challenge is almost over

I definitely wasn't a challenge MVP by any means. I think everyone but Scott outscored me. But I did a lot better than I could have expected at the challenge start. 65 points isn't a Dooze-level score but it's a lot better than the 30 points I was expecting earlier.

Lol I'm super happy to be apart of this season!! So far it's turning out to be a great one and I'm hoping that I can do what I need to in order to get far.

Not gonna lie I just had a feeling we were gonna lose this challenge. Like I just... stink at challenges and knew I wasn't going to do well. So I just made sure I didn't have the worst score. Which I hope puts me in the clear. However, i lowkey get the vibe I might be going just cause the conversations are so... bland. Like no ones come purposing an alliance and such. I know I don't want to be the first person to do so, which means someone's gonna have to step up.

Anyways, here's my thoughts on everyone.

Szymon: he's cool, definitely my #1 out here, we've known each other from previous orgs and such. Seamus: I know who he is from tumblr,  but I don't know him that well. he seems chill. Daisy: Queen, shes an icon and O hope she can be my female iconic duo Logan: He seems like he wants to be THAT person who likes to be in control of everything, but doesn't want to come off as controling everything. So I let him think he owns me :) Vincent: I like him, he's a cool guy and one of the few I've talked to the most. He already told me about his vote steal and I'm just like "damn, look at you go!" Conor: He's cool too! I enjoy talking to him when I wake up in the morning. I like hearing about him and his boyfriend too. Gage: home boy likes to flirt around with everyone doesn't he. i'll play a long, but leaving a mental note to not go far with him. Jules: They're cool, not really that social tho but they try. Rob: I forget that he's on this season oops.

I really thought I was gonna get the boot first cause everyone is just so quiet. But the conversations seem to be between Jules and Vincent. Which I'm personally okay with either of them as long as I'm still here. I'd prefer Rob though just cause he doesn't make an effort to talk to me that much, but it is what it is.

Let's hope I get by this round and can survive the first boot. I like to think I can, but you never know with this group.

we lost the challenge which sucked. but i really like my tribe. everyone seems chill. i didnt think we were gonna win the challenge though becase several people didnt rlly try to even get 100. so originally i thought it would just be a super easy vote on vincent because he isnt very chatty, but logan is annoying everyone. asking to one on one call and sinking his own ship by pushing so hard (giggity) for jules to go home. so i think either logan or vincent will go this round

I’m liking my tribe mates more than I expected. I’m just trying to play it cool so I make it to merge. I feel like that’s everyone’s goal. I love the alliance of Cindi, both Dylan’s and myself. I’m hoping that we stick together, because I feel like we can be a really strong alliance moving forward. I also think I might be good with Beck, because they’re dating Asya and we played a game together a couple years ago. Asya apparently still really likes me from what Beck said. So woo! Let’s continue the good vibes.

So past 4 hours is a lot to process, but basically i got home expecting a pretty easy vote on Vincent. He's a great kid that but have to think about performing well in the challenges as a tribe. So then miss Logan decided to play as if it was merge and not day 3 and just went off with targetting Jules?? I am not having any of that because Jules is too fun to talk so i made sure to let Jules know immediately of what was going on. I believe i was the first to warn her of what's happening so that brings us two closer. Logan then went on calls with everyone individually, ending my call in such a shady way with an excuse of having a dinner... when he was just going to call with Seamus. And he told Seamus that he was currently eating the dinner.. WHAT? Anyway just got the tea that Logan was making multiple trios as well. WHY DO YOU NEED TO PLAY SO HARD? THIS GAME HAS JUST STARTED skjdghd

I feel really bad because he said that he was the first boot the last time he played due to playing hard. But this is just him... not learning from his past mistakes at all :/ Im sorry but i don't feel comfortable moving forward with such a ticking bomb. Neither he or Vincent have any benefit for my game at this point so Im hoping this plan that we put in motion with Daisy to get rid of Logan works, and then we have Vincent as an easy vote next time we lose.

So I'm more optimistic now that I've properly gotten to know a lot of my tribe, I think I'm socially in a good place but I'm trying not to get ahead of myself and get lazy with communication. I love the little group I've got with Beck, Cindi and Dylan and I think Dylan G and Christian or Chips would fit in like a glove if we ever visit tribal council, and we needed to bring in another couple of people.

All I have to say before tribal is that I really... finessed this vote.

Logan got lose and decided to voice call everyone telling them that they need to vote Daisy. Which made a lot of people more on edge to vote out Vincent. I don't want Vincent to go because I think he's still useful. He has the vote steal advantage and I think he's someone who trusts me. He might not be a number for other people, but Vincent is a number for me. SO I want to keep him around as much as I can cause I trust Vincent more than Logan. So to save Vincent, I decided to throw Logan under the bus and push for him to go. I'm glad I did that since that got traction with Szymon and Daisy on board with voting Logan. However, they weren't enough so I campaigned to Seamus, Gage, and Rob to vote Logan out. They were hesitant at first, but they eventually came around and got on the ship to vote Logan out. I had to voicecall Gage, Rob, and Szymon to convince them but I'm glad it worked. I mean, i had to throw out there that I had an alliance with Logan and Vincent in order to get them to expose Logan's other alliances, but I did what I needed to do in order to save Vincent. So with everyone on board to vote out Logan, I think I set myself up to be in a good spot moving forward.

If I'm gonna be the move maker this season, then I guess I'm starting out the game with one of the biggest moves yet. Poor logan being the first boot AGAIN, but that's what happens when you decide to scramble your butt off.
