Chi è Chi Spring Awards

Il Baglioni Hotel Carlton ha ospitato l’8 maggio la seconda edizione dei CHI E’ CHI SPRING AWARDS, gli ambiti premi assegnati agli ambasciatori dello “spring mood” che lavorano con passione, energia, entusiasmo e positività.

L’evento, patrocinato dal Comune di Milano e inserito nelle manifestazioni dedicate a Milano Food City è un omaggio al gusto sotto tutte le sue forme di espressione.

Cristiana Schieppati, direttore di CHI E’ CHI e Guido Polito, Amministratore Delegato di Baglioni Hotels, insieme a Maddalena Fossati Dondero, direttore de La Cucina Italiana, media partner della serata, hanno accolto gli ospiti alla cerimonia di premiazione nel salotto dove è sbocciata la primavera con fiori, petali e bouquet.

Sabato a Ostra Vetere giornata inaugurale del MonteSaxNovo Festival diretto da Federico Mondelci

OSTRA VETERE – Il Comune di Ostra Vetere, l’Associazione Lemuse, in collaborazione con le associazioni locali e con la BCC di Ostra Vetere, dopo la straordinaria edizione del Montesaxnovo Festival 2019, hanno inteso proporre l’edizione invernale assicurando così una continuità di eventi musicali di prestigio durante il periodo invernale.

Il format è quello di affiancare i concerti, ai luoghi dell’arte della città e del territorio, ecco quindi la scelta di tenere tre dei quattro appuntamenti nella grande sala della pinacoteca del Polo Museale Terre di Montenovo che ospita una mirabile collezione di arte sacra. Il quarto concerto si terrà nel nuovo auditorium BCC di Ostra Vetere.

Ad aprire il Festival sabato 8 febbraio h 21.15, al Polo Museale, sarà proprio il direttore artistico Federico Mondelci, che in qualità di solista dell’ORCHESTRA GAV proporrà un ricco repertorio musicale, dal concerto barocco di Alessandro Marcello ai brani tratti dalla West Side Story di Bernstein, alle musiche da Film di Morricone fino a brani celebri di Duke Ellington e Astor Piazzolla. L’Orchestra, nella seconda parte del programma, proporrà uno dei più grandi capolavori della storia della musica, la Serenata per archi in do maggiore Op.48 di Čajkovskij.

 L’Orchestra GAV, diretta sin dalla sua nascita da Lucia Visentin, vanta un’attività di altissimo livello che vede questo ensemble protagonista in importanti stagioni musicali. Le sue esibizioni sono recentemente state trasmesse dalla Rai.  L’orchestra ha vinto prestigiose competizioni quali il concorso nazionale Città di Ortona, i concorsi internazionali Rovere d’Oro Giovani Talenti di San Bartolomeo e nella propria categoria Città di Padova nel 2005, il Victor De Sabata European Youth Orchestras Contest nel 2007 e nel 2008, con la menzione di merito per la più giovane orchestra vincitrice (presidente di giuria M° Azio Corghi).

Il connubio tra arte musicale e arte pittorica nella sala museale quest’anno sorprenderà i visitatori. Proprio in occasione delle concerto inaugurale verrà presentato al pubblico un inedito dipinto del pittore montenovese Luigi Conti, vissuto tra il 1810 e il 1881, proveniente da una collezione privata, raffigurante una Santa Filomena nella sua tipica iconografia sdraiata, appoggiata su grandi cuscini, indossa una sontuosa tunica con greche dorate e sul capo una corona di rose. La fiera bellezza ieratica e intima al contempo di questo maestoso soggetto sacro colpisce in modo folgorante e ci spinge ad indagare ulteriormente sulla vita, sulla produzione artistica del pittore montenovese e sul soggetto ispiratore di questo mirabile dipinto.

 Orchestra GAV-Giovani Archi Veneti

Diretta sin dalla sua nascita da Lucia Visentin, ha vinto prestigiose competizioni quali il concorso nazionale Città di Ortona, i concorsi internazionali Rovere d’Oro Giovani Talenti di San Bartolomeo e nella propria categoria Città di Padova nel 2005, il Victor De Sabata European Youth Orchestras Contest nel 2007 e nel 2008, con la menzione di merito per la più giovane orchestra vincitrice (presidente di giuria M° Azio Corghi).

L’orchestra si è esibita nelle più importanti città e sale internazionali da concerto tra cui il Teatro Dal Verme (Milano), Teatro Bibiena (Mantova), Il Teatro degli Impavidi (Sarzana) il Teatro Alighieri (Ravenna), Teatro Donizetti (Bergamo), Basilica dei dodici Apostoli (Roma), la Sala della cultura della Catalogna (Barcellona), Kammermusichaal university of music and performing arts of Mannheim, Musiksaal (Graz), riscuotendo unanimi consensi. Nel 2010 in Francia ha inaugurato la stagione conceristica “Musiques e Patrimoine en Pais du Chinonais” presso la chiesa di Saint-Martin de Candes. Il 1° giugno 2011 è stata invitata a Torino per partecipare alle manifestazioni per il 150° anniversario dell’Unità d’Italia. Nel 2012 in Francia ha partecipato al “Festival de la Haute Tineè” nella cattedrale di Saint-Ea tienne de Tineè e nel 2013 ha effettuato una tourné e nel Canton Ticino e ha tenuto un concerto nella cattedrale di Lugano.

Ha collaborato, tra gli altri, con Luciana Serra, Ines Salazar, Roberta Canzian, Massimo Martinelli e nella cattedrale di Evry (Parigi) con Michel Portal.

Con Enzo Caroli ha inciso un CD per la casa disco grafica Velut Luna con musiche di Pergolesi, Mercadante, Quantz e Stamitz.

A Treviso ha recentemente presentato lo Stabat Mater di Rossini per il Teatro Comunale Mario Del Monaco di Treviso in occasione del 150° anniversario dalla scomparsa del compositore pesarese.

Lucia Visentin

Diplomata in violino, ha conseguito il diploma accademico di secondo livello in Discipline Musicali con lode.

Si è dedicata alla formazione quartettistica e ha collaborato con numerose formazioni cameristiche, tenendo concerti in Italia, Europa ed in Giappone. Ha collaborato con l’orchestra del Covent Garden di Londra, dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia di Roma, con il Teatro La Fenice di Venezia e con il Teatro Comunale di Treviso.

Tiene corsi di perfezionamento e masterclass ed è membro di giuria di concorsi musicali internazionali tra cui il concorso Salieri di Legnago, il concorso “Città di Moncalieri” (TO), il concorso Città di Padova (PD), il concorso “Euterpe” di Corato (BA), il concorso “Musica Insieme” di Musile di Piave (VE), il concorso “Caffa Righetti” Cortemilia (CN). Ha fondato e dirige la “Scuola Musicale Suzuki del Veneto” con sede a Treviso e presso il Conservatorio Venezze di Rovigo con il quale collabora anche come docente.

Ha fondato e dirige l’orchestra GAV-Giovani Archi Veneti.

Dal 2011 dirige il coro “Città di Oderzo” vincitore di concorsi nazionali ed internazionali. E’ consigliere regionale dell’ASAC Veneto (Associazione per lo Sviluppo delle Attività Corali), e presidente della Consulta della Cultura del Comune di Oderzo.

Federico Mondelci

è da oltre trent’anni uno dei più apprezzati interpreti della scena internazionale. I suoi studi comprendono il Conservatorio di Pesaro dove consegue il diploma “cum laude” nel 1979 sotto la guida del M° Romano Mauriello e il Conservatorio Superiore di Bordeaux dove ha conseguito il diploma con “Medaglia D’Oro” all’unanimità sotto la guida del M° Jean-Marie Londeix.

Si è esibito come solista con oltre 50 orchestre, tra cui l’Orchestra del Teatro Alla Scala, la New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, la BBC Philharmonic, l’Orchestra da Camera di Mosca, l’Orchestra Sinfonica di Bangkok e  la Filarmonica di San Pietroburgo, dove ritornerà, nella prestigiosa stagione diretta da Yuri Temirkanov in Aprile 2020. Il suo repertorio non comprende solo le pagine ‘storiche’ ma è particolarmente orientato verso la musica contemporanea e Federico Mondelci affianca il suo nome accanto ai nomi dei grandi autori del Novecento (quali Nono, Berio, Nyman, Kancheli, Glass, Donatoni, Sciarrino, Scelsi, Gentilucci, Graham Fitkin, Nicola Piovani e altri compositori della nuova generazione); eseguendone le composizioni spesso a lui espressamente dedicate, produzioni di straordinario successo che lo conclamano come raffinato solista di raro e straordinario talento.

Nel 2017 è stato insignito del titolo di “Marchigiano dell’Anno”.

MACERATA – Le MenseVerdiBio del Comune di Macerata di nuovo al centro dell’attenzione. “Biologicamente a scuola – Opportunità e buone pratiche per la ristorazione scolastica”, infatti,  è il titolo del convegno che si terrà il prossimo 25 ottobre, all’Asilo Ricci a Macerata organizzato dal Comune di Macerata e dalla Albert Sas, in collaborazione con la Regione Marche.

L’evento si focalizzerà sulla ristorazione scolastica, sulle opportunità e problematiche del settore e sulla certificazione bio delle mense.

a qualità delle Mense Verdi Bio è uno dei punti di eccellenza tra i servizi scolastici del Comune di Macerata. Infatti, oltre ad essersi aggiudicata il premio nazionale Mensaverdebio 2014, è stata premiata con il bollino d’oro dal Ministero delle Politiche Agricole. È inoltre riconosciuta anche dalle statistiche nazionali di FoodInsider, l’osservatorio indipendente sulle mense scolastiche italiane dove Macerata risulta al 7° posto tra 52 città (seconda nelle Marche) prese in esame per la qualità e la sostenibilità. Il dato sottolinea l’eccellenza nel settore del biologico, con oltre il 70% di prodotti bio utilizzati a scuola, e per la filiera di prossimità, in particolare per il progetto Pappa Fish  che ha insegnato ai bambini a consumare i prodotti ittici del proprio mare. In media nelle 12 mense scolastiche comunali vengono serviti 1705 pasti al giorno.

“E’ una scelta importante – interviene il sindaco Romano Carancini – che sta portando buoni frutti e questo convegno ne è esempio. Macerata sta assumendo il ruolo di città modello per il sistema delle mense scolastiche e sta definendo i contorni di una buona pratica che si concentra sulla crescita sana del bambino, sulla cura dell’ambiente, sulla valorizzazione dei prodotti del territorio e sulla consapevolezza del contesto di vita, elementi che contribuiscono al migliore sviluppo dei nostri figli e della comunità tutta.“

“Siamo molto orgogliosi delle nostre mense comunali non solo per i premi e i riconoscimenti, ma anche perché in questi anni a Macerata abbiamo dimostrato che si può fare un servizio pubblico di qualità altissima, garantendo ai bambini un’alimentazione accurata, scegliendo cibi biologici e controllati, e garantendo soprattutto una cultura dell’alimentazione aperta e critica, consapevole dei cicli naturali e delle filiere produttive.

Alle famiglie abbiamo garantito tariffe tra le più basse delle Marche e la gratuità per le famiglie con i redditi più bassi, oltre la partecipazione costante dei comitati dei genitori, anche nella stesura dei bandi.  E alle imprese agricole garantiamo la filiera corta che valorizza la produzione locale. Una grande soddisfazione che fa di Macerata un modello!” sottolinea con soddisfazione Stefania Monteverde assessore alla Scuola e alla Cultura del Comune di Macerata.

Per quanto riguarda il convegno, nella mattinata del 25 ottobre è prevista una prima sezione dedicata alla presentazione delle diverse tematiche riguardanti il servizio di ristorazione collettiva e le filiere da valorizzare. I lavori del convegno proseguiranno nel pomeriggio con un momento di confronto, attraverso quattro tavoli di lavoro a cui potranno partecipare tutti che verteranno sulla qualità degli alimenti ed aspetti nutrizionali, la ristorazione scolastica come stimolo all’innovazione e al rafforzamento delle filiere agricole regionali, la riduzione degli sprechi, la valorizzazione delle buone pratiche nei capitolati d’appalto.

Nel dettaglio il programma del convegno prevede alle 9.30, dopo la registrazione dei partecipanti, l’apertura dei lavori con i saluti istituzionali del sindaco di Macerata Romano Carancini, dell’assessore e vice presidente della Regione Marche Anna Casini e dell’assessore alla Scuola del Comune di Macerata Stefania Monteverde.

A seguire interverranno Alessandra Morganti e Giovanna Rivieccio dell’Ufficio Agricoltura Biologica del Ministero delle politiche agricole alimentari e forestali sul tema “Il fondo per le mense scolastiche biologiche”, Alessandra Mascioli del Ministero dell’Ambiente che parlerà de “Il quadro dei criteri ambientali minimi adottati e in corso di elaborazione”, la direttrice di Food Insider Claudia Paltrinieri che esporrà alcuni  “Esempi di buone pratiche nella ristorazione scolastica nazionale”  mentre gli “Aspetti nutrizionali del pasto a scuola” saranno al centro dell’intervento di Luca Belli del Sistema Informativo Agricolo Nazionale – ASUR Marche Area Vasta 2.

Dopo una breve pausa sarà la volta del  dirigente del Comune di Macerata Gianluca Puliti con “La gestione in house della ristorazione scolastica”, poi sarà la volta di Antonio Ciappi, Amministratore Qualità e Servizi dei Comuni di Sesto Fiorentino, Campi Bisenzio e Signa  con “La mensa sostenibile in simbiosi con il territorio”, la psicologa esperta in problemi legati all’alimentazione Cristina Manzini con i “Nuovi percorsi per l’educazione alimentare”, Sabrina Secchiaroli del Comune di Trecastelli con “Una gara d’appalto che non prevede ribassi. L’esempio di Trecastelli” e infine Giovanni Faedi, della Commissione Istruzione  – Associazione Nazionale Comuni Italiani con ” Il pasto in contesti bioeducativi”.

Dopo gli interventi si aprirà una discussione sui temi trattati aperta a tutti i partecipanti. Alle 14.30 prenderanno il via quattro tavoli di lavoro incentrati sui temi “Riduzione degli sprechi alimentari” coordinato da Claudia Paltrinieri, direttrice di  Food Insider e Fabiola Formiconi, Dietista Asso Osimo,  “Qualità degli alimenti, caratteristiche nutrizionali e conservazione’ coordinato da Simona De Introna, del Sistema Informativo Agricolo Nazionale dell’ASUR Marche Area Vasta 3 e Giulio Barocco dell’ Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Integrata di Trieste, “La ristorazione scolastica come stimolo all’innovazione e al rafforzamento delle filiere agricole regionali “ coordinato dal presidente dell’Associazione Italiana Agricoltura Biologica Marche Enzo Malavolta e da Mauda Moroni dell’assessorato alla Cultura della Regione Marche e “La valorizzazione delle buone pratiche nelle gare d’appalto. Redazione di un capitolato sostenibile” coordinato dal direttore di Albert Paolo Agostini, Melissa Ascani del Comune di Cupra Marittima e dall’amministratore di Jesiservizi  Salvatore Pisconti.

Le conclusioni saranno affidate a Andrea Bordoni, dirigente del servizio Agricoltura della Regione Marche. L’intera giornata sarà moderata da Valentina Tepedino, direttrice del periodico Eurofishmarket e docente dell’Università degli Studi di Bologna.

Al via la XXIV edizione di Cinema intorno al Vesuvio a Villa Bruno di San Giorgio a Cremano

Prende il via sabato 1 luglio 2017 la XXIV edizione di “Cinema intorno al Vesuvio” che si svolgerà nella prestigiosa location di Villa Bruno a San Giorgio a Cremano. La rassegna, che si terrà dal 1 luglio al 4 settembre, si compone di 66 serate di cinema con numerosi appuntamenti e tanti ospiti: Toni Servillo, Edoardo De Angelis, Stefano Incerti, Enzo Avitabile, Renato Carpentieri, Tony D’Angelo, Sasà Striano, Francesco Amato, Gianfranco Gallo, Massimiliano Gallo, Pina Turco, Tony Tammaro, Enzo De Caro, Giorgio Verdelli, Francesco Bruni, Agostino Ferrente, che  presenteranno il loro film al pubblico dell’arena. 

“Un anno importante per noi di Arci Movie – dice Roberto D’Avascio, presidente Arci Movie – che ci ha visti impegnati in diversi festival nazionali e internazionali dove abbiamo ricevuto riconoscimenti che rafforzano la bontà del nostro lavoro sul territorio mentre è proseguito l’impegno per le scuole con importanti rassegne ed incontri. Non poteva mancare l’appuntamento estivo con la storica arena di cinema all’aperto che quest’anno si sposta a San Giorgio a Cremano. Abbiamo fatto un grande sforzo ed una vera e propria corsa contro il tempo, tutti insieme noi dell’associazione, per realizzare un programma di qualità, dove proponiamo film italiani che testimoniano il valore degli autori del nostro paese, cartoni animati e film per le famiglie, senza mancare l’appuntamento con gli imperdibili grandi successi della stagione. Grazie alla stretta collaborazione di Antonella Di Nocera avremo il piacere di accogliere e far conoscere al pubblico vesuviano tanti importanti ospiti che apprezzano il lavoro della nostra associazione”.

I lunedì, virtualmente connessi alla bella esperienza di AstraDoc, saranno dedicati al cinema musicale scegliendo alcuni documentari straordinari che raccontano la musica ed i musicisti. Tra questi il film Il tempo resterà su Pino Daniele costituirà un evento a sé il 17 luglio con la presenza dell’autore Giorgio Verdelli, l’introduzione del giornalista Antonio Tricomi e di uno degli artisti coinvolti, Enzo de Caro: serata di particolare emozione a San Giorgio a Cremano poiché si evocherà anche la grande amicizia con Massimo Troisi di Pino e di Enzo.

E quest’anno all’arena non solo proiezioni, ma anche “Parliamo di cinema” – un ciclo di incontri al tramonto”, con personaggi della cultura locale e nazionale, (Titta Fiore, Guido D’Agostino, Gabriele Frasca, Gennaro Carillo, Laura Angiulli, Domenico Ciruzzi) sulla terrazza che affaccia sui giardini di Villa Bruno. Ci saranno, inoltre, laboratori creativi per i bambini, a cura della libreria La Bottega delle Parole di San Giorgio a Cremano: perché il cinema estivo possa rappresentare un presidio sociale e un luogo in cui le persone possono ritrovarsi piacevolmente durante tutta l’estate, proprio in continuità con quello che è sempre stato lo slogan di Arci Movie la passione del cinema per costruire cultura e solidarietà.

Le arene estive di Arci Movie nascono nel 1994 con l’idea di animare l’estate dell’area vesuviana con il cinema sotto le stelle. In poco tempo, ma con costanza, il un progetto si è ampliato, con l’organizzazione di diverse arene estive, immaginando un vero e proprio percorso del cinema alle pendici del Vesuvio: a partire da Ponticelli, passando per Torre del Greco, San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, Cercola, Volla, Pomigliano d’Arco, Boscoreale, San Giorgio a Cremano, fino ad arrivare a Santa Maria Capua Vetere. Questi appuntamenti estivi testimoniano da anni lo sforzo culturale dell’associazione nella promozione del cinema e della cultura per un pubblico più ampio e diversificato, attraverso una proposta quotidiana, dalla fine di giugno alla metà di settembre, arricchite da eventi speciali, incontri con ospiti del mondo dello spettacolo e della cultura, film per bambini e anteprime nazionali con più di 20.000 presenze l’anno.

L’inaugurazione, il 1 luglio alle 21.15 con ingresso speciale ad 1 euro, è affidata al regista Edoardo de Angelis con il suo pluripremiato “Indivisibili” e all’interprete Gianfranco Gallo. Daisy e Viola, due gemelle siamesi che vivono nella provincia di Caserta, hanno quasi 18 anni e per lavoro si esibiscono a festicciole e matrimoni. Sono bravissime e molto richieste, soprattutto per la loro particolare condizione (gran parte della gente che le invita crede, per esempio, che il loro essere unite per una parte del corpo porti fortuna). Angela e Marianna Fontana, entrambe al loro primo film, sono davvero gemelle, ma non gemelle siamesi. Nel cast ci sono anche Peppe Servillo, cantante degli Avion Travel e fratello di Toni, Massimiliano Rossi e Antonia Truppo.

Il 2 luglio sarà Will Smith, diretto da David Frankel, il protagonista di “Collateral Beauty”: Howard è il manager di maggior successo di una grande azienda. Colpito dalla tragedia della morte della figlia di sei anni, non riesce a tornare a vivere.

Il 3 luglio si torna in Italia con Michele Riondino e Fortunato Cerlino, protagonisti di “Falchi”, pellicola diretta da Tony D’Angelo che sarà presente in sala insieme a Salvatore Striano. Peppe e Francesco sono due falchi, agenti della sezione speciale della Squadra Mobile di Napoli. A bordo della loro moto pattugliano la città incuneandosi nei sobborghi più loschi e criminali. Efficientissimi e dediti a 360 gradi alla loro missione, i due amici pagano però lo scotto di una vita sempre in tensione.

Toni Servillo sarà l’atteso ospite dell’8 luglio. Insieme al regista del film, l’artista presenterà per la prima volta a Napoli, “Lasciati andare” il film di Francesco Amato che lo vede protagonista nei panni dello psicoanalista Elia Venezia. La sua pigrizia rasenta i languori di Oblomov, la sua taccagneria non riguarda solo il denaro ma anche le energie vitali. Anche il suo rapporto con la moglie Giovanna, da cui è separato in casa, sono improntati alla passività. Poi l’incontro con la personal trainer, la spagnola Claudia.

Il regista Stefano Incerti con Massimiliano Gallo, Pina Turco e Tony Tammaro presenterà “la parrucchiera” il 9 luglio. Una donna decide di mettersi in proprio e aprire un salone nei Quartieri spagnoli ma scatterà la rivalità con la sua ex titolare.

Altro appuntamento con ospiti da non perdere l’11 luglio quando il regista Francesco Bruni presenterà il suo film “Tutto quello che vuoi”. Un giovane scapestrato e un anziano signore poeta sono insieme alla ricerca della ricchezza del cuore per le strade di Roma. Con Bruni sarà presente il protagonista Giuliano Montaldo.

Martedì 18 luglio serata evento con il Premio Napoli per la versione director’s cut  (per la prima volta a Napoli) del pluripremiato film  “Le Cose Belle”. Parteciperanno il regista Agostino Ferrente, i protagonisti, Antonella Di Nocera e il presidente del Premio Domenico Ciruzzi

Lunedì 24 luglio serata speciale per ricordare il regista Jonathan Demme, con il film “Enzo Avitabile Music Life”.

In chiusura di programma lunedì 4 settembre proiezione del documentario “Pagani”. Interverranno la regista Elisa Inno e i protagonisti del film con una performance di musica e balli popolari della tradizione. Una festa per chiudere una bella estate di cinema.

Writing Snippet #26: Drunken Desires

“So how did you find out Will was bi?” Enzo asked curiously, one arm snug around Will’s waist. He didn’t seem to notice Will stiffening a little. “I mean, you don’t have to tell me, I was just wondering.”

“Uh...” Loki glanced at Apollo, who lifted an eyebrow curiously. “It’s not really important, you know, just... guy stuff.”

Three years ago...

“Oh my God,” Will managed, laughing hysterically. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this drunk in my life, ever.”

Loki smirked, vision swimming slightly from the alcohol in his blood. “If you weren’t straight, I’d totally bang you.”

Will laughed harder, slapping his hand against the tabletop, spilling a few drops as he poured himself another drink. “Who said I was straight?”

It was then that Loki looked into brilliant green eyes, wicked and full of mirth, a dare, a challenge. A living whirlwind tossed up flecks of gold and brown, giving them a slightly hypnotic effect. Put with that cheeky half-smile and relaxed stance, Loki found his gaze lingering a little too long on Will’s undisputedly gorgeous face.

Leaning forward, Will cupped the back of Loki’s neck and kissed him. The god thought his brain might melt, resolve slipping further, restraint starting to flicker.

He kissed back, heated and passionate and fierce. Will, as always, refused to back away from the challenge; the kiss turned sharper, more bite involved. A battle—neither of them knew how to love gently. Maybe it was time for that to change.

“I think I might love you,” Loki murmured against Will’s lips. Feeling Will tense, he pulled back, uncertain. “Will?”

Will stared at him. Then his eyes—those beautiful and brilliant green eyes—narrowed. “Why the fuck would you say something like that?”

Loki swallowed hard. He attempted a response. “I’m sorry.”

A long moment stretched between them.

Will picked up the drink he’d poured, Adam’s apple bobbing as he downed the whole thing. Setting the empty glass down, Will looked up, green eyes like shards of a broken beer bottle—sharp, clear, wicked, wicked, wicked. He looked down at the glass again, and almost as an afterthought, turned it upside down; showing he was finished. 

“We’re friends,” he said eventually, holding Loki’s gaze. “I don’t want to ruin that."

“Yeah,” Will said, after a long moment of hesitation. “Guy stuff.”

Loki wondered what might’ve happened that night if he hadn’t said those godforsaken words. Wondered if that might’ve been him in Enzo’s place, Will’s arm snug around his waist, quiet laughter between them after references to inside jokes, kisses pressed to his temple every so often.

As if sensing what Loki was thinking about, Will’s arm tightened around Enzo’s waist.

Apollo poked him. “You alright?”

Loki looked up, getting lost in those beautiful golden eyes. Like a fly, he thought dazedly, trapped in amber. Apollo, who radiated the warmth of the sun; Apollo, who had his back no matter what; Apollo, who treasured those soft I love you’s and the quiet stay with me forever’s. Apollo, the Golden God, with a smile brighter than all of Olympus’ golden domes and more glorious than the first colours of the sunrise. 

A small smile spread across his face, and he closed his eyes—sinking into the sun god’s warmth. “Yeah. I’m good. Just reminiscing.”

Writing Snippet #28: Lazy Lover

Enzo felt his husband starting to stir and smiled. “Morning, darling.”

Will made an unintelligible sound, nestling into Enzo’s warmth, burying his head in the crook of his husband’s neck. “Mmhm.”

“You’re adorable,” Enzo murmured, and Will let out a sleepy chuckle; hiding his face more. He didn’t handle compliments well. Enzo watched as Will’s legs straightened and he arched his spine. “You’re like a cat. You stretch like one, anyway.”

“Hm.” Will was all loose and relaxed, content. Lazy mornings like this were Enzo’s favourite part of the day, aside from the lazy evenings where they would order takeout and curl up on the couch watching sappy rom-coms (Enzo’s choice) or gory thrillers (Will’s favourite). Enzo always held onto Will tight during those. “Love you...”

Enzo laughed lightly, stroking Will’s hair absently. “Well, that’s good. Otherwise this would be really awkward.”

Will kissed his neck in response, nosing up at his jaw. “We should just stay here all day.”

“We need to eat,” Enzo reminded him, smiling at Will’s grumbling, unintelligible protests. “I could order Chinese...?”

Will sighed happily, resting his head by Enzo’s shoulder. “Mm. Sounds great, love.”

“We’ll have to go downstairs to get it,” Enzo realised. Will groaned, but then Enzo said, “I’ll get it and bring it up.”

“You’re the best,” Will mumbled, eyelids drooping. Still tired, then.

Enzo kissed Will’s temple, cradling his head close to his shoulder. “And you’re adorable. No arguments. It’s been decided, here and now, that you, Will de Vetere, are absolutely, utterly, adorable.”

Will had already drifted off.

Writing Snippet #16: Close Call

 “Are you ashamed of me?”

The question caught Will by surprise, although now the last few days were beginning to make sense. Enzo had been distant, barely smiling. Will had wondered if he was sick; he usually wore a smile everywhere he went.

“Of course not.” The words rolled off of Will’s tongue easily, but when he stepped forward, Enzo stepped back. “Why would you ever think that?”

Enzo didn’t meet his eyes. “You don’t hold my hand in public. You’re not anything beyond friendly when we’re with other people. If our relationship bothers you that much, then maybe we should take a break.”

That was the last thing Will wanted. “Enzo, I—”

“You haven’t even told your brother we’re dating,” Enzo said brokenly. “And you two are close. If you were going to tell anyone, wouldn’t you tell him?”

Will hesitated, and that hesitation was just a split second too long. 

“See?” Enzo laughed, humourlessly, bitterly. “You are ashamed of me.”

I’m not. The words wouldn’t form. I’m ashamed of myself. I’m ashamed of myself for not being strong enough to overcome my childhood insecurities. I’m ashamed of myself for making you feel like this.

Enzo nodded to himself when Will didn’t answer. “Do you love me?”

“More than anything,” Will managed, moving forwards. This time, Enzo didn’t back away, and Will took the opportunity to hold Enzo’s hands in his, running his thumbs over Enzo’s knuckles. “Tell me what I have to do to make it up to you. Anything. I’ll do it.”

“Let me be a part of your life.” Enzo looked at Will, hazel eyes brimming with tears. “Please. Promise me that you won’t be scared. Promise me that you aren’t ashamed. Promise me that you will love me like I love you; publicly and privately. Promise me.”

Will didn’t break his gaze, lifting Enzo’s hands to press kisses to his fingertips. “I promise.”

Enzo nodded, burying his face in the crook of Will’s neck. Will held him close, heart racing as he realised just how close he’d come to losing him.

They stayed like that for a long time.

Writing Snippet #1: Ready, Aim, Daisy

Will was leaning on his elbows, belly resting against the grass. The rifle was heavy in his hands. He shifted slightly, closing one eye and peering through the scope at the target that seemed so far away now that he was looking at it from here. Maybe he should have put it a little closer.

He took a breath, finger tightening on the trigger, ready to exhale and fire the round, when suddenly a daisy dropped over his eye.

Snorting with barely suppressed laughter, Will brushed the flower out of the way to look at his boyfriend, calmly making daisy chains next to him. “Really?”

Enzo grinned at him, arranging the daisy chain so that it sat better. “You should have seen this coming.”

The marksman shook his head slightly, moving to take the daisy chain off of his head, when Enzo cried out, “No, please! I spent ten minutes making that!”

Will hesitated, then sighed, putting his finger back on the trigger and squinting through the scope again. “Fine.”

“Thank you.”

Writing Snippet #11: Drinking Early, Leaving Early

“What are you doing here?”

Kat looked up, tensing as Will walked in. It was three a.m. She supposed it was a little awkward to be caught in his kitchen, drinking his liquor, after breaking into his apartment. 

Nevertheless, she held up the glass of whiskey. “Trying to get hammered.”

He raised an eyebrow, sitting down at the table across from her. “Pass it over.”

“What?”

“I don’t let friends drink alone. Pass it over.”

She slid the bottle across the table, watching him. “Enzo asleep?”

“Yeah.” Will looked at her, pouring himself a drink. “You didn’t have to break in, you know. You could’ve knocked. We have a doorbell, you know that?”

Kat leaned back in her chair, downing the drink. “Didn’t think you’d hear it. The bedroom’s upstairs.”

Will tapped his ear. “Enhanced hearing, remember?”

She shrugged. “You make it hard for me to forget.”

A moment stretched between the two. There was nothing romantic between them, never had been; they were more than friends, less than lovers. Brother and sister, perhaps, could be a good way to describe the relationship.

“Kat—”

“I should go,” she said, standing up too quickly. She shouldn’t be here. She was putting them in danger. People were looking for her.

“Don’t.”

She froze. She’d been expecting a lot of things, bad things, but that wasn’t one of them. All that escaped her was a weak, “What.”

“We’ve got a spare room.” Will stood up, slowly, like she was a wild animal and he didn’t want to scare her off. “Come on.”

He put a hand on her shoulder, gently leading her up the stairs. The door at the end of the corridor was open a crack, the inside of the room dark, and Kat stepped into the room closest to the stairs. 

“It’s okay,” Will told her, leaning against the doorframe—not quite blocking her exit, but not leaving it wholly open, either. “You can stay as long as you like. We don’t mind. You’re family, Kat.”

She nodded, looking away, and he got the message, slipping out of the doorway and going down the corridor to his room. 

When he came to check on her in the morning, she was gone.

Oooooooh boy. Okay. I’m not entirely sure if this is about something I want to write or if it’s something to read bUT that doesn’t matter because I write books that I want to read anyway, so...

My perfect story is in the sort of fantasy-crime genre: eg, Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy, my actual author god. One of my favourite themes is the concept of found family—as a queer girl who is still closeted to her family but has a close circle of queer friends, it’s a pretty cool thing to see in books even if it’s not inherently queer (although the found family theme I’m writing about is VERY queer because I have no self-control). I love symbolism! Dark omens, polar opposites, all that—very good.

In conclusion??? Perfect story = fantasy-crime found family themes, queer themes would be nice. Any symbolism is always welcomed so that when the Big Twist™ at the end comes I can scream, “WHAT THE HELL HOW DID I NOT SEE THAT” and spend the next three days questioning my entire existence and writing ability :’)

4. You’re stuck on an island/lost in a forest/desert with little supplies. Which of your ocs would you rather have with you?

I think I’m going to choose Fred Jones, who I haven’t written about on tumblr before. He’s an African-American ex-army one-armed guy (his right arm was lost in an explosion during his time in Afghanistan), who has been happily married to Benedict “Benny” Jones for almost a decade.

ANYWAY he’s got pretty good survival skills from being a tracker in the army and from hunting trips with his dad (who thought that doing manly things would make his son like girls, disclaimer: it didn’t work), he’s hilarious, well-trained in hand-to-hand combat as well as firearms and other weaponry, and since he’s also queer it means that we can make lots of shitty puns (“Hey, do you see that tree over there?” “Yeah, what about it?” “It’s like me... not straight” *giggling*).

5. Which of your ocs would participate in a prank war? Rank from least to most likely.

6. What is your ultimate Writer fantasy? (Fanfics, fan art, etc)

FUNNY STORY

So I’ve published my series on a site called storybird.com and oof the early books were bad. like bad bad (I was around twelve when I started writing them and I’m now almost sixteen so yeet). I was messing around one day and typed the name of my first book into google and... there was a result on Wattpad. A fanfiction. Someone else had gone onto Scratch (a coding website where you can make games) and created a soundboard for my main characters and you bet your ass I stayed up until two a.m listening to all of them repeatedly and crying because I’m an emotional wreck.

The fanfiction was mildly hilarious for a couple of reasons. For example, they had put my asexual-aromantic OC (Kathryn Pearce) in a sexual relationship (this OC was pREGNANT) with my biromantic OC (Will di Siva). THEY LITERALLY PUT THE TWO PEOPLE WHO WERE MOST OPPOSED TO SEX (apart from Artemis) IN A RELATIONSHIP. They also said that the plural of “Jötunn” was “Jötunnese” (like “Chinese”) despite the fact that I used “Jötunns” (disclaimer: I found out a few months ago that I was also incorrect, and the correct term is “Jötnar”). 

My big dream is fanart because wowowowow *Jonathan Van Ness voice* cAn YoU bELiEvE what some of these artists make??? their shit is amazing!!! and I love it so much that I wanna pay for a commission or something!!! but I can’t bc I’m broke af!!!

7. What au (alternate universe) would best suit your characters?

*nervous laughter* In one of my books, half of the plot was my OCs travelling through AUs to try and find their home universe after Vé sent them through a series of wormholes to try and buy time for experimenting on an experiment on Will di Siva with dubious morals and zero ethical consideration (it’s a long story).

THERE ARE SO MANY THAT I SHOULD’VE DONE THAT I DIDN’T DO!!!

But I’ve just gone through a huge list of AUs and... I’ve narrowed it down to three (I’M BAD AT DECIDING THINGS, I’M SORRY). In no particular order:

1. Youtuber AU (they just all have such good personalities??? like I can SEE Zara and May doing makeup tutorials, while Enzo is more the psychic “clear your mind I’m gonna read it here are my tarot cards” type, and Benedict would do self-defence tutorials and bring in his husband Fred to practice on and might work with Natalia in episodes more focused towards female self-defence and she’d take great joy in beating him up)

2. High School AU (generic? yes. amazing? yes. because I know what each of them would be like at school and it’s iconic. Zael is the Theatre Pan who flirts with everyone and is the star of the football team. Thomas is the senior everyone is scared of but he’s actually really nice and kind of a dork once you get to know him. Natalia isn’t exactly a bully, but... you don’t want to get on her bad side. Zara is the nice popular girl, Enzo would probably get bullied but is a total sweetheart, Sam would tutor struggling kids... I’m living for this AU rn.)

3. Angel/Demon/Human AU (OKAY BUT I CAN SEE WHO WOULD BE DEMONS—Loki, Will, Thomas, Amarjar, Natalia—AND WHO WOULD BE ANGELS—Zara, Enzo, May, Ginelle—AND WHO WOULD BE HUMANS LEADING THE REST OF THEIR CIVILISATION/REBELLION—Fred, Benny, Andrea, Nicole, Sam—AND IT’S REALLY COOL AND I’M LIVING FOR IT BC WOW THIS IS SUCH A COOL AU)

8. If you could travel back in time back to any event in history/pre-history, what would it be?

Probably watching a gladiator battle at the Colosseum in Ancient Roman times. I think it’d be fun :) then I’d yeet back to the present because I can’t survive for too long without wifi. rip.

9. On the same note, which historical figure would you like to meet most?

*squeals* SIR MANSFIELD CUMMINGS!

He was the founder of MI6 (or MI5) and when he used to interview potential spies he’s stab his wooden leg super casually and not react. Not many people knew he had a wooden leg. If they freaked out like a NORMAL HUMAN BEING he’d be like “they ain’t for the job” and if they were like “oh okay” and continued the conversation without being bothered by it Mansfield would be like “...you. i like you. welcome to mi6″ and i just think he’s iconic, ya know?

My second person would be Napoleon Bonaparte because for want of a better term he’s my problematic fave but I don’t speak much french and when I have to speak french I get stressed and blurt “DANS MON KIT DE SURVIE IL Y A UNE BÂTON DES COLLE” and idk if that’s spelled correctly (?) but it basically means “in my survival kit there is a gluestick” and I think he’d be really weirded out by that so... yeah. Sir Mansfield “Wooden Leg Stabber” Cummings.

10. Cats or dogs? Both? Neither?

I prefer cats. They just kinda do their own thing and sometimes they let you touch them and they’re sO CUTE and also I’m mildly afraid of dogs because ~we have history~ but I like them from a distance

for the ask game, here are three random words! cat, magic, and family

OKAY OKAY OKAY WOW I CAN ACTUALLY ANSWER THIS ONE PRETTY WELL!!!

1. Cat

Okay there’s a whole plotline about the OG Squad™ (Kat, Sam, Nicole, Liz, Dutta, Natalia, May, and Vanessa) + some supporting characters (Zara, Artemis, Loki, and Apollo) going to all these alternate universes. In one alternate universe, Liz finds a black cat (who she decides to call Frank) and makes it her mission to adopt him by taking him with her back to her original universe. 

Zara (Liz’s girlfriend) loves Frank, as does Guinevere de Vetere (Enzo de Vetere’s eight-year-old sister), and even Loki has a soft spot for Frank (Loki sighed, picking Frank up by the scruff of his neck, and poked him in his little round belly. “Now listen to me, young man. Let me get these shoes off, and then you can play with the laces as much as you want.”). 

Bonus: Natalia, deadly assassin who has a steadily fading moral code and very few fucks left to give, is allergic to cats. Will finds it hilarious and makes sure to film her sneezes because “they sound like a middle-aged rich white suburban man with two over-achieving children”. He has narrowly avoided being stabbed by her numerous times for laughing at her odd sneeze.

Natalia Creed (her mortal parents were hosting the spirits of Nyx and Erebus, and those powers were passed on to their daughter, she’s ~unprecedented~ but classifies herself as an Olympian because it’s hard to explain)
