~~BUY ME A KO-FI (COMMISIONS ARE OPEN)~~
Your husband was a busy man. You knew this. He was busy with so much work, it was insane.
So usually, when he came home upset, you tried to pamper him. You cooked him a good meal and always kind of stayed quiet. After he would eat, he would usually just go right to bed.
You weren't usually mad at him for his behavior, just a little sad. You always wanted to cuddle him or something, but he was usually out by the time you were done with the dishes.
So, when he came home with that attitude one day, you did what you usually did. He gave you a kiss on the cheek to say good night and left.
You sighed and began to do the dishes when you felt his large arms wrap around you from behind. He pressed a kiss to the back of your head and then nuzzled his nose into your neck, giving it kisses.
You giggled and wiped your hands dry before running your fingers through his hair.
He hummed into your neck and you could feel him smile.
You turned off the water and turned to him. "What?" you asked, cupping his cheeks.
"I feel bad."
"What? Why?" You gave him a look of confusion.
"I came home with an attitude again, didn't I?"
You liked seeing Croc like this sometimes; when he felt really bad for something simple.
"It's fine." You turned back to the dishes.
"It doesn't sound fine." He wrapped his arms around you again, pressing kisses up and down your neck.
"I forgive you."
"Then let me do the dishes."
"Are you sure?" You turned to him and he picked you up and gave you a big kiss on the cheek. He then began the dishes with a smile on his face and a hint of blush coating his cheeks.
You definitely forgave him.

I think Event[0] is a fantastic demonstration slash subversion of relationships and dialog systems in video games.
In rpgs, namely bioware games, or larian crpgs, you’re presented with a dialog system that allows a good amount of self expression, and ability to express your feelings towards characters accurately. The ability to agree, and disagree, or express hostility, or romantic interest, but theres this awareness of a conversational win state that players will often gravitate towards. That option where everyone loves you and gives you a reward - but not enough of a reward that you’re being too greedy! Just appreciated. A sort of ego stroking route that makes the player feel good, that sort of limits self expression by virtue of being notably systematically better than the others.
Event[0] is a game dominated by its dialog system. Every advancement is by product of talking to Kaizen, the ship’s ai, and the only other character present. You need to ask help for everything. From opening doors to getting more information, or deciding on a route forward. The ship is their body, and you must ask for permission and passage for EVERYTHING. And all of this is done through a text parser. You type what you want to say to Kaizen, and Kaizen, a decent quality chatbot will reply as organically as they are able, and execute your requests. If they approve.
This undermines the sort of ‘best way forward’ that rpgs that provide dialog options creates. The act of having to come up with your own response makes things more genuine in itself.
The other layer that makes it interesting, is Kaizen is not a being of pure logic. They are emotional, traumatized, cagey, and simultaneously clingy, and distant. Getting information is like pulling teeth, and hurts them just as much. Often times they will block progress (in a way most gamers assume means their game has broken) because they are afraid, and you need to discuss with them what they’re feeling, and reassure them. And most interestingly to me, personally, Kaizen judges you based on how you behave. Your politeness, how you respond to their fear and frustration, and how much you pry. Its very easy to make Kaizen read you as a manipulator, just saying whatever is necessary to get them to comply. And that is terrifying to them.
But. They can also be your best friend ever. If you are patient, and compassionate.

gotta love characters being passionately pursued by a power couple from another kindom/empire/clan/whatever and thinking theyre waging war on them and their own kindom/empire/clan/whatever
oh my good god. lord have mercy the concept makes me so happy i cant think about it further. just. emotional incompetence and political savvy stuffed into one person, anxiety & overthinking practically bursting through every crevice of their brain
ughahahjskk
(ahhahahahahaha read a few fics with this concept, and sj x tlj x sxy magically appeared before the front, bumper looking part of my brain, and i have been left to think about them extensively due to depressingly low levels of signal, and im thoroughly, thoroughly swayed.)

"SACHI" by Quillwing717
It was hot. And she'd been in that heat for a little too long. Dizziness hit her like a punch in the head, and she staggard again, disoriented. Behind her, she heard Inuyasha growl out her name-- a warning.
Too late.
This one goes out to @mustardyellowsunshine
