Shah Rukh Khan awards a Kerala girl with the ‘Shah Rukh Khan La Trobe University Ph.D. Scholarship’
Shahrukh Khan honored a Kerala researcher, Gopika Kottantharayil Bhasi with the ‘Shah Rukh Khan La Trobe University Ph.D. Scholarship’ at an event in Mumbai earlier this week.
The Kerala researcher, Gopika Kotthantharayil Bhasi from Thrissur(Kerala) has been constantly working on farming practices through animal science, ecology, and molecular studies. Gopika was the chosen one from over 800 other competitors and was awarded the four-year scholarship at a ceremony in Mumbai.
This award even comes before the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne will enter its eleventh year. The prelude event was held in Mumbai before the main event in Melbourne. In 2019, superstar Shahrukh Khan was awarded an Honorary PHD at the La Trobe University and a special PhD scholarship was named after the actor.
Apart from the Phd at La Trobe University, Shahrukh Khan has been awarded several other honorary doctorates for his contributions. Shahrukh Khan has time and again emphasised and spoken on his beliefs on education.

MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Wednesday said it’s with constant education that a country, a family can move forward as there is never an end to learning.
In December last year, when the actor visited the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, the La Trobe University announced the ‘Shah Rukh Khan La Trobe University PhD Scholarship’.
At the event to announce the recipient of the scholarship here on Wednesday, Shah Rukh said it was his honour to lend his name or be attached to the scholarship.
“I am a big believer in education. I truly believe that the way forward for any country, any family, city, state is by educating itself more and more. There is never an end to education. I’ve come to realise the more I know, I figure out, the less I understand. It’s very important to keep educating ourselves for the rest of our lives.
“I’ve always believed education in India and elsewhere in the world, is the most important step forward for any nation,” he said.
The scholarship was dedicated to Gopika Kottantharayil Bhasi, a female researcher from Thrissur, Kerala.
Gopika, who chosen from over 800 women, is working on farming practices through animal science, ecology and molecular studies.
Shah Rukh, 54, said what also will help taking the world move ahead is educating women.
“Related to the fact, is of course, education of women, empowering women, to look after themselves to look after their families…
“If you are able to empower them with education, the world goes even further forward,” the actor added.

Well, this gesture of the actor caught everyone’s attention. While one user wrote, “The way he helped her wth her hair (lovestruck emoji).” Another one commented, “Manners are everything! Ugh.” One female fan also pointed out how SRK is a gentleman in the truest sense. She commented, “Yes that’s shahrukh khan for you guys he knows how to touch your heart.”
The King Khan was all praise for Gopika at the event. He said,“The evening is about Gopika and her family. She has been doing research on, broadly put about on elephants here in India and now she is shifting over to bees. I should not even try to understand what she is doing, what is important is that she is doing a PhD. I wish you the best and hope people get this opportunity.”

Chosen from over 800 Indian women, Gopika Kottantharayil Bhasi from Thrissur, Kerala is working on farming practices through animal science, ecology and molecular studies. Congratulating Gopika, Shah Rukh said that he admires her dedication and determination. He added that the scholarship will enable her to travel to La Trobe in Melbourne, Australia where she will pursue her dreams of helping to improve India’s agricultural sector.
Shah Rukh said that he is a staunch believer in education. According to him, it is a way forward for everyone and there is never an end to education. He also added that education of women and empowerment of women to look after themselves and that women are more conscientious then men and if one is able to empower them with education, the world goes further forward.
The event was oraganised by the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne as a prelude event to its eleventh edition which will take place in August this year.
The much-acclaimed film festival celebrated its 10 year anniversary last year with Shah Rukh Khan as the chief guest of the event.
