Many, many, many, many, many hours later, my capstone project is complete: a mall full of my favorite guys!

Not gonna wax too poetic about my creative process because that's what the artist statement is for, but I will say that this was the most involved, ambitious, and creatively fulfilling piece I've ever gotten to do. OCs, cartoon characters, video game protagonists, DnD player characters, we've got it all here! Each of these characters is special to me in one way or another, and I had an absolute blast cramming them all into one canvas.

Tumblr got nowhere near displaying the full image so I had to condense the hell out of it to get the whole thing on there. If you want a closeup of any character in full resolution just sent me an ask! I would love to hold my little guys up to the camera for you :)

Electric core this ice core that firecore blah blah blah. All of these ideas are great but unoriginal. I propose a new idea:

Introducing New Life core

You may be asking, "What's a life core?"

Allow me to explain a life core allows its host to create. This could be anything from inanimate objects to something akin to poison ivy level (or a darker mad scientist Dr. Victor Frankenstein level)

So I propose a Fic in which Danny himself has a life core and uses it to be poison ivy without the Eco-terrorism or he fights someone with a life core I don't know this idea came to me randomly and I must write about it can we normalize the life core?

Also just imagine the confrontation between the bats and the birds and Danny, him having to explain that no he isn't a poison ivy clone and no he will not use his powers for Eco-terrorism please stop asking

Additionally King Danny turning pariah's haunt into something akin to pink diamonds garden and the Steven Universe movie covered wall to wall and pretty Vines and flowers that may or may not be fluorescent

Deadserious au due to summoning him, 15 yr old Danny meets up with Ra's and 8 yr old Damian. This displaces him in time though.

After showing off his immense power, Baby Damian immediately gets a fat crush on Danny, but when demanding professing his love Danny’s response is “until you grow taller then me brat”.

Danny afterwards leaves back to his time, immediately finding out that this change led to Danny being chased after by the Wayne’s youngest. And even worse the baby he met now towered over him despite still being older.

forever thinking about how this is romana's last conversation with the doctor

#* ◦ ❝ « 𝘰𝘰𝘤 . the poster's crusade . #of course in the latter years of her presidency she stumbles upon prior incarnations & alternate doctors from other gallifreys #(though for some reason in dark eyes 1 the lord president is some random time lord & romana isn't mentioned) #it's a premonition of things to come & a testament to romana's will & the values the doctor taught her #that she would never allow herself to be corrupted - not even by pandora nor the power of gallifrey's highest office #she only tires of the possibility #of gallifrey itself #& grows as weary of the time lords as the doctor was & had every right to be #could've been some neat foreshadowing towards romana's darker nature manifesting in an incarnation born for war #but that never came to pass in the audios & very briefly in the EDAs (romana iii is in a total of 3 books) #romana ii harbors enough darkness herself i get chills thinking about her enacting vengeance on the daleks in gallifrey (audio drama) 6 #lalla ward is great in the role truly i understand keeping her for the time war audios it's amazing how her performance evolves #even in neverland/zagreus she is hardly a starry eyed pupil anymore she's grown into a fierce leader #with the weight of the universe on her shoulders #telling rassilon to buzz off as he asks her to abdicate so that he may take over what a queen #what isn't featured here is her complementing leela & telling this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship (gay)

I don't wanna be wanky here but am I slightly perhaps just the tiniest bit put out that so many people are all "🤩I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see😍" about Luthen when Cassian Andor's other tall sandy-haired spymaster came in for so much flack over (checks notes) ordering a hit on the lead engineer for THE DEATH STAR? Maybe so

STAR WARS without the force just feels like WAR WARS to me but in this series im here for it bc of the ripe-for-picking political exploration of the universe which has been overdue bc the prequels were over 20 years ago! and little subtle nods to the Force like "The Eye" of aldhani... beautiful!!

a star wars story without a force presence truly is muted in darkness and andor does a great great job at displaying that both narratively and visually with its somber colors, mist, shadow, pallid light and stretches of silence...

all those spaces? that dullness? that's the absense of the force and the light. no color, no sound, no happiness, no life.

& moral ambiguity for all (as the sith/empire is at peak power) and suppressing the light. so well done and not outright stated or obvious.

i think when ppl watch this show and cheer that there's "no lightsabers" they are missing the point of that decision. that the down-to-earthness, the War Wars of it, feels that way because the magic is, literally, gone. the force is gone.

which also reflects our own world.

The things we leave behind are often thought of as irrelevant- it's not what we leave behind, but who. I would argue, however, that what we leave can say much about how we lived, which leads me onto my point: what did Jon and Martin leave behind?

By the end neither of them really had many belongings. Martin might've had a flat during season 4 but the chances of him keeping it or anything in it when moving to the safe house are quite slim. At the point of moving there they each had all they'd be able to carry on a train to Scotland, not leaving much space for sentimentality.

But when the apocalypse started how much of this would survive? The cabin was the epicentre of the change, would anything there really last in a meaningful way, return to normal? But of course they did take some things with them.

Martin jokes about the bandages turning into snakes, so clearly they've had issues with some of their own belongings changing based on domains, so even what was valuable enough to bring with them could have been discarded.

Everything that survived the journey with them would have ended up in their makeshift home of the tunnels under the institute. No doubt it ended up spread out through their shared space, a homely mess, but as we all know there was no chance that it would ever last.

As the institute crumbled and Jon bled in Martin's arms they were lost, evidence of their existence crushed and broken down to dust; but not all of it. Passed off to Basira, abandoned in a location that somehow survived.

One golden lighter with a spiderweb design, and one tape recorder loaded with the last conversation of Jonathan Sims and Martin Blackwood. Their remains.
