Johto League, Episode 13 - Blissey, the Blissful Nurse
Ash discovers a new, relatively minor element of the Gen 2 upgrade: The Nurse Joy NPCs have been upgraded to have a partner Blissey rather than a partner Chansey. He also learns the hard way that all the proper medical knowledge is in the Joy, not the Blissey. Left to their own devices, Blissey manages to inflict a great deal of physical trauma on Ash by "helping".
Inevitably Team Rocket shows up, but then things take a turn. Jessie actually knows this Blissey! Jessie wanted to become a nurse when she was a kid. Pretty much a hopeless endeavor since it's a field exclusive to Joy NPCs and partner Chansey/Blisseys, no exception. It's like filling out an application to become a Matrix Agent.
But Jessie's kinda dumb so she enrolled to be trained as a partner Chansey. Shockingly, they actually let her do it. This episode is amazing.
Jessie studied hard and learned a lot about medical care. She also befriended our idiot Blissey from the present when they were still just a Chansey, and helped cover their mistakes. Chansey was able to graduate in part because of Jessie covering for them. But Jessie herself hit a wall when she couldn't perform the Sing move to lull a patient to sleep.
In a genuinely tragic and moving farewell, Chansey and Jessie split an amulet to remember each other by. And then Chansey went off to become a terrible nurse, while Jessie went off to become an equally terrible criminal.
Back in the present, Blissey realizes that Team Rocket's starving and fucking robs the hospital's food storage for them. Takes everything. Every last scrap. And gives it all to the Rockets.
It's nice and all, but Blissey gets caught almost immediately. Fearful for Blissey's fate, Jessie hatches a plan: Get caught with the food and then "reveal" that the Rockets forced Blissey to do it. That's plausible. Everyone will believe it.
Though Blissey struggles to understand why Jessie's doing this for them, the plan ultimately succeeds. Jessie takes the fall for Blissey, the food is returned to the hospital, and Blissey's career remains intact. It's sweet and heartwarming and tragic all at once, and I cried a little. This episode was the best.
Un Blissey gentile gli offre aiuto. Cleffa e Clefairy stanno tentando di lanciare una nuova moda che superi in popolarità le corone di cristallo: la coda di cavallo coi fiori!
In other words, be mindful of the tone of your thoughts(rather than negative, self-loathing thoughts 2 positive, self-affirming ones); because your life today is what you make of it.
Wishing you all a wonderful, successful, trouble-free Monday ahead!
