I think one of my favorite stupid details the Twilight Guidebook gave me is the fact that the Volturi spread rumors and myths about vampires to keep people off of their tail... so that has to mean a conversation like this had to have happened:
Caius: Okay, so we need to perpetuate false myths about vampires to keep us hidden from humans. Who's got any ideas?
Chelsea: How about we need permission to enter a home?
Caius, writing it down: That's good. Who else?
Heidi: We have fangs.
Caius, still writing: Great, what else?
Jane: We don't have reflections and... we sleep during the day?
Caius: Perfect, and I'll say that holy symbols harm us.
Marcus: Wood stakes though our hearts kill us.
Caius: You know what, sure, on brand.
Aro: And we have a weakness to garlic.
Caius: ...what?
Aro: Weakness to garlic.
Everyone: ...
Aro: Write it down.
Caius, sighing: Fine.
Aro: And we can turn into bats.
Caius: ...
Caius: Aro are you drunk?

Hello again dearest Nathalie, I hope you are doing well. Some time ago I asked how the whole glittering in the sun worked and in your answer you mentioned that every vampire looks different in sunlight. You, for example, mentioned that Caius has a pearlescent look to him and now I've been wondering for a while what the other volturi would look like. Could you make like a list with pictures of what it would look like or if that is too much work (which I totally understand, so no pressure at all) just a list without pictures? I hope you have a good day/week/month :) <3
• — 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢 & 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐆𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐦
Ah yes, I remember this question quite fondly.
It was difficult for me to find pictures that truly spoke to how I imagine their glow, so for now I have decided to answer it in written form. Volterran-Wine does in fact own a large crystal selection she has studied to find the right answers.
Tumblr media
𝐀𝐫𝐨: The first you would see is a greenish hue, like oxidised copper. There would still be those hints of warmth however, with a discreet sheen of sparkle.
𝐂𝐚𝐢𝐮𝐬: He almost has a pearlescent finish to his skin and there’s a slight reddish hue when he enters certain types of light.
𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐮𝐬: They say he once shone more brightly in the sun, but now vampires compare this kings skin to dulled brass
𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚:  This queen shifts beautifully like the darkest garnet, with a glitter-like shift that leaves those around her spellbound when they see it.
𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐚: Many have compared her skin to the glint of steal, speckled with red like a bloodstone when the sun hits her just right.
𝐃𝐢𝐝𝐲𝐦𝐞: Once upon a time she resembled an opalite with a pinkish hue, now few remembers how vibrant of a sparkle Didyme once had.
𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢: Our resident tracker resembles a bronze statue in it's prime, almost bordering on a golden hue, not unlike the crystal tigers eye.
𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐱: The way Felix shines in the sunlight is the same way a great mountain glimmers in a bronzed and golden glow if there are copper minerals deep within the earth. It is warm and inviting.
𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞: Her glow is very particular, it is soft and almost has a translucent quality to it. The best way I can describe it is that Jane looks like living and breathing selenite.
𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐜: Seeing as though him and Jane share a lot of the same genetic makeup, they are quite similar. However, Alec has a slight blue-ish tint to his glow as well.
𝐇𝐞𝐢𝐝𝐢: This woman looks like an Opalite, come to life with a rosy hue beneath it all. Among the Volturi she is also one of the vampires who do in fact have a certain glitter to their skin.
𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐚: She is one of the few that partially glitter, though she gleams more if you ask those around her. If you look at Renata for too long it is like a duochrome of sienna and burnt orange.
𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧: Under the correct lighting Corin is like a pearl, but most of the time she looks like the iridescence you find inside of shells,
𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐚: She looks like a marble statue come to life, the softest glow you will ever see.
𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐨𝐧: Some say that Afton nearly looks like a silver statue when he moves under the sunlight, it is almost blinding with a soft blue-ish hue.
𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐨: He has this quality about his skin that is like smoky quartz, you expect it to be quite dark and dull-but the shifts in colorur is just out of this world. His tattoos almost seem to take up a life of their own when he steps under direct sunlight as well.

I loved your Demetri fanfic! it was so bittersweet and well-written.
your bio says your requests are open? could I perhaps request one for Felix? feel free to let your creative juices flow, but something sweet and fluffy between him and his fem!mate?
Thanks lovely! x
Respectful Humming (Felix x fem!Reader)
The reader's appearance is not specified. She is shorter than Felix, though.
A/N: I let my creative juices 😉 flow for this one. Thanks a lot for this wonderful request. I hope you enjoy it, dear Anonymous. Still, I want to emphasize that I do not write sexual content about characters who are underage. I received a few requests for stuff like that, and I must say that I do not feel comfortable with writing those fics.
“That was a rather tedious trial,” Demetri remarked, carrying himself elegantly through the halls of the Volturi’s castle and putting any décor to shame. He was the most ornate décor to have ever existed anyway. The halls and rooms were lucky to have him. He was a statue created by Michelangelo.
“Indeed,” Felix replied, treading softly on the stone floor. Despite his gigantic size, he appeared to be levitating.
“I cannot quite fathom why Aro prolonged the trial unnecessarily.” Demetri turned right, heading toward the library.
“He was in a particularly bad mood today,” Felix explained monotonously. “You know how he can be. It has happened before. He really wanted to see that poor excuse of a vampire suffer.”
Demetri shrugged nonchalantly. “It shall not concern me.” As he and Felix entered the library, he added, “At least Jane and Alec got their fun out of it.”
“Exactly.” Felix's eyes scanned the bookshelves and sitting areas worriedly for your form. You had promised you would be here to await him after the end of the trial. But you were nowhere in sight. “The twins are satisfied for now, and they are unlikely to cause mayhem. Although that is never a guarantee.”
Feeling a heavy weight on his chest, Felix stopped in his track. Standing in the middle of the library, he crossed his arms and used his sensitive ears to locate you. However, neither your heartbeat nor the even sound of your breath seemed to be dwelling in the castle. That was bad. Panic seized him. The world of vampires was wicked and cruel. Had a newborn taken you? Or worse, had one of his ancient enemies broken inside the castle and humannapped you?  For vampires, the worst possible punishment was to lose a mate.
A mate for a mate.
Keeping his composure, Felix looked at Demetri, who had sat down at a chess board opposite Heidi. They were flirting ferociously, and although they had been doing this for centuries, they always found new hollow phrases and sweet compliments to charm each other. Their friendship was real, but everyone knew where the two of them would end up. It was the reason why some wished for soundproof rooms. However, the Kings were against such an installment because to run the coven smoothly, their senses needed to have access everywhere at any given time. Traitors, raging newborns, enemies… None of them could have the opportunity to hurt the Volturi’s integrity.
“So, if I win, how about the whole night this time?” Demetri organized the chess pieces.
“First, honey, you have to win. Last time I beat you. And how about you start to become more creative. We have done that so many times already.” Heidi giggled sensually. Her flirting was always of the dominant kind. She never behaved submissively. Tilting her head to expose her neck was something she would never do. You had to accept her as the strong woman she was.
“Hey, Demetri,” Felix called out. “Do you know where (Y/N) is?”
The vampire shrugged. Clearly, he was uninterested. “I don’t know. If she is not here, she is somewhere else.” A cloud fell over the tracker’s face. “It is a pity that I cannot sense her tenor. But her immunity to gifts is the reason why Aro allowed you to keep her in the first place.”
A deep growl rumbled through Felix's chest. Demetri ignored his obvious anger, and the giant walked out of the room, seething. He hated the way Demetri and the others talked about you. Like you were a pet only kept for his amusement. Admittedly, vampires mainly see humans as food, and thus, it is most difficult to establish respectful relationships between humans and vampires. Still, Felix would not allow the others to look down on you. At least not in your presence. He ignored slighting remarks when you were not in the same room, knowing that those would be uttered behind his back anyway.
Anxiously, Felix hurried out of the castle. It was a cloudy day, and the sun was already setting. He didn’t need his cloak. After wandering around for a while and searching for your familiar heartbeat, he found you sitting on a low wall, overlooking the fields and trees expanding in the distance.
Relieved, Felix sighed. He felt like he was reborn into a human, only to be turned into a vampire again. He was so glad to see you were alright. He came to stand behind you and embraced you lovingly. Unperturbed, you continued to hum softly, dangling your legs in the air.
“I thought you wanted to meet in the library,” Felix whispered against the shell of your ear. He had to lean down to accomplish this feat of affection since you were shorter than him. Your head, although you were sitting on a raised wall, did not even reach his chin.
“I thought so, too. I had been in the library. But Chelsea and Renata came in, and they were not so kind.”
“What did they do? Did they say something hurtful?” Felix placed soft kisses on your head.
You shook your head. “That is between me and them. I won’t tell you. Also, as I have mentioned before, I can solve my own conflicts. If I want the others to respect me, I cannot let you fight my battles for me. Otherwise, they will not take me seriously.”
Oh, strong, cute you…
Felix picked you up bridal-style, turned you around, and sat you back down. Now you were facing him. His big hands caressed your shoulders. “I know. You have told me that a lot. More than you should have to.” He was obnoxiously protective of you. So much so that at the beginning of your life in Volterra, he tried to shelter you from the others, seeking out confrontations to solve your arguments. For him, this was not about protecting your pride or dignity or anything. Just that he could not allow others to pick a fight with you. However, it quickly turned out that you were the real menace. You did not back down from any conflicts, and if you were facing heavy provocations, you would unleash witty remarks of your own.
“By the way,” Felix began, “I love that you are not frightened anymore when I approach you.”
You laughed amusedly. “Right, if you had hugged me from behind two months ago, I would have jumped.” A cheeky grin was plastered on your face. You got up, standing on the wall. Felix grabbed you by your hips to stabilize you. Emotionally and physically, he gave you equanimity and equilibrium. “Look. I am taller than you are now.”
“Barely. I am not sure that counts.”
“Yes, it does. Even if it’s only a centimeter, Felix.” You rolled your eyes playfully. Then, your gaze became serious. “I was really afraid of you until we reached a certain level of trust. Now, it is like I can almost feel when you are around. I do not need to see you to have that feeling. A special kind of security shrouds my body and mind when you are near. Just now, as I was humming to myself, I felt that you were close and searching for me.”
Hmm… Was that an early manifestation of your gift? “You are wonderful. Do you know that?” Felix pulled you in by your waist.
“Of course, I do. You tell me every day.” With a big smile on your face, it was you this time who leant down to kiss him.

Alec Volturi x human!Reader: Anniversary Quilt
Warnings: little bit of angst, mostly fluff, non-canon aged Alec, sfw, use of y/n
I walked down the hall of the castle, heading for the library. I had finished the small stack of books in my room and wanted to return them to get some more. As I walked, I noticed Felix and Demetri headed my way. I waved at them and rushed over.
"Hey, guys. What are you doing?"
"We just got done giving our report to the Masters. Now, we have some free time until the next mission," Felix answered.
"What about you?" Demetri asked.
"I need some more books. I finished these ones already," I gestured to the stack in my hand.
"Wow, you go through books fast. Honestly, I'm surprised you haven't read everything in the library in the year you've been here." Demetri commented.
"Hey, to be fair, some of those books are in other languages," I defended myself. I paused as I processed his last words. "Wait, it's been a year already?"
Felix nodded. "Yeah, in two weeks if you want to be technical."
I shoved my books into Felix's hands. "Will you return these for me? I've got something I need to do!" I asked, turning on my heel and running to Heidi's room.
:
I dodged through the guards as I turned down the hall where Heidi's room was. Skidding to a stop in front of her door, I repeatedly banged on it. "Hurry up, hurry up!"
Finally Heidi opened her door, a confused look on her face. "Are you alright, (Y/N)?"
I shook my head. "I need your help and I need it now," I begged.
Heidi nodded and ushered me into her room. "Are you going to tell me what's going on?"
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. "In two weeks, I'll have been with you guys for a year. In two weeks, it'll have been a year since Alec and I found out we are mates. I want to do something special for him."
Heidi grinned. "So what do you need me to do?"
"I need you to help me sneak out of the castle so I can go shopping. I already have an idea in mind of what I want to do but first I need fabric. And quilt batting. And a sewing machine." I looked at Heidi. "Do we even have a sewing machine here?"
"Talk to Caius. He's the more artistic of the three. As for getting you out of the castle, that's going to be hard. You're still human so the Kings won't want to let you leave. Why don't you write me a list of the fabric and anything else you need and I'll grab it."
"Thank you, Heidi! I want this to be a surprise for Alec so please don't tell him."
"I promise I won't tell. Go write me your list and I'll try and get it while you talk to Caius."
I nodded and went to leave Heidi's room. "Thanks again. I'll bring it by shortly."
As I left her room, I bumped into Alec.
"Hi, love!" I smiled at him.
"Hi, darling. What were you doing with Heidi?" He asked, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.
"Nothing, just a bit of girl talk," I said as we started walking.
"Just girl talk? Because it seems to have your heart beating faster than normal."
I blushed, trying to think of something to throw him off. "Heidi was just telling me about her latest boy-toy. That's all. What are you up to?"
Alec sighed. "The Masters are wanting me to stay back from missions for the time being."
"Oh? Why?"
"They're talking about changing you soon. It's been almost a year, love."
"Right. Speaking of the Masters, I actually need to talk to Master Caius. I'll be back later, love." I pressed a kiss to his cheek and turned to run off. Before I could, Alec grabbed my arm.
"I'll be in the gardens, come find me when you're done."
I nodded and left.
I ran to the throne room and knocked on the doors.
"Come in," Aro's voice rang out.
I opened the doors and entered the room. I stopped just shy of the stairs where the Masters were.
"Ah, young (Y/N). What brings you here?" Aro asked.
"I wanted to talk about my changing. And I also had a question for Master Caius." I took a breath to calm my nerves. Being in the Masters presence was always intense.
"I would like to wait another 2 and a half weeks. I have something special I want to do for Alec since it's been a year since we found each other and I don't my changing to get in the way."
"That sounds reasonable. Alec is lucky to have met you, my dear," Marcus said, smiling.
"If Aro agrees, then I see no problem waiting a little bit longer. But you also had a question for me?" Caius asked.
"Yes." I turned to face him. "Do we have a sewing machine?"
"We do. It's been a minute since it's been used but it should work fine. Why do you need it?" Caius asked.
I grinned sheepishly. "I want to make Alec a quilt. I know you guys don't technically get cold and don't really have a reason for one, but I thought it'd be nice to hand-make Alec something rather than buying something premade."
Marcus let out a chuckle. "I'm sure he'll love it. Caius will show you where the machine is."
Caius stood from his throne and headed towards the doors. "Follow me."
I bowed to the other two kings and made my way towards the third.
"So I need her to get black fabric, dark green fabric, a queen sized black sheet, and extra large batting," I muttered to myself.
"What are you going on about?" Caius asked, not looking back at me.
I jumped, not expecting him to start talking to me. "Oh, Heidi said she'd help me get the stuff I need to make the quilt so I'm making a list."
We turned down a hallway and entered a room on the left. "The machine is in here. There should be some extra things laying around that you can use."
Caius walked in and lit the lanterns. "If that is all, I'll take my leave."
"Yes, thank you Master Caius." I turned and bowed.
Caius nodded and left.
I spotted some paper and a pen. I grabbed some and jotted down the list for Heidi. I took a quick look around, noting where the machine was and some extra fabric laying around. I quickly added a tape measure to my list and left.
I searched the castle for Heidi, wanting to find her before returning to Alec. I finally found her, walking with Demetri.
"Heidi!" I called out, running to her.
"Hey, that took a lot longer than I thought it would," she commented as I handed her the list.
"Sorry. I bumped into Alec once I left your room and I had to come up with something so he wouldn't find out what I'm planning so I said I had to talk to the masters. Then Caius said we did have a sewing machine and he showed me where it is and then I wrote the list and then I came and found you."
"(Y/N). Breathe." Demetri laughed. "So what are you planning? You left in a rush earlier."
"I want to make Alec a quilt for our anniversary," I whispered. I wasn't sure if Alec was still in the gardens and I didn't want to risk him hearing if he wasn't.
Demetri nodded. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Help keep Alec away while I work on it? It'll probably take the entire the two weeks with all the cutting and sewing and ironing I need to do."
"Got it. I'll help keep Alec distracted till it's done."
"Thank you!"
"I'll run to the store and get your things. I'll send Demetri to come find you when I have everything." Heidi said, walking off.
"Great. I will go find Alec then and try not spill anything." I smiled and waved goodbye to Demetri.
I found Alec sitting in the gazebo, reading a book. I came up behind him, wrapping my arms around his shoulders.
"Did things go well with the Masters?" He asked, closing his book.
I nodded against his shoulder. "Yeah, I wanted to wait another couple weeks before changing. They agreed."
"Really? Why wait?"
I slid onto the bench beside Alec. "No reason in particular," I lied.
Alec arched his brow. "Are you scared?"
I sighed. "Yeah, kinda. All I've heard since being told I'd have to be change is how much it's going to hurt."
Alec wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me into his side. "It will be painful but I promise I will be by your side through it all."
I smiled and kissed him. "Thank you."
TIMESKIP
It's been two days since Heidi got my fabric and other items and I've managed to get all the cutting done. Now it was onto creating the rows.
I sat on the floor of the sewing room trying to decide on a pattern. Heidi had grabbed some watercolor and marble pattern fabric instead of solid colors which I thought worked really well. "Well, since the queen sheet is black, I could use the green fabric for the outside and use the black to create a heart in the middle," I muttered to myself.
Deciding that was the best way to go, I carefully laid out the pieces on the floor, mapping out how the quilt was going to look. Some of the squares would need to be cut differently but that was going to be too hard.
I grabbed my scissors and started cutting the black and green fabrics that would outline the heart.
"Hey, (Y/N)? Alec is looking for you." Felix said, poking his head in the door.
"Can you distract him? I'm getting ready to sew the squares into rows and I want to finish that tonight," I asked, looking up from my cutting.
"Of course. Good luck." Felix closed the door and I turned back to the fabric.
The last square was cut and the quilt was mapped out once more. I grabbed the first row, sat at the sewing machine and started sewing.
DAY FIVE
The final row had been sewed and I could finally take a break longer than just grabbing something to eat and sleeping. I pushed myself away from the sewing table and stood up. My back and shoulders popped as I stretched, making me sigh in relief.
I left the room and headed to the kitchen. I was craving spaghetti and in the mood to actual cook. I grabbed a pot and a pan and put them on the stove.
I hummed quietly to myself as I grabbed everything I need to start cooking.
"I see someone's out of hiding."
I gasped and spun to face whoever spoke. "Alec! Hi!"
He was leaning against the doorway of the kitchen, looking annoyed.
"So when are you disappearing again?"
I frowned. "In a couple hours. I'm sorry."
Alec scoffed. "What are you even doing? Felix and Demetri won't tell me."
I put the pot of water I was holding on the stove and walked over to my boyfriend. "I promise you'll find out soon but not right now."
I leaned up to kiss his cheek but he pushed me away.
"Sure. I'll see you later. Or not."
I watched as Alec walked away, feeling my heart break. I looked back at the food I was starting to cook and decided to just put everything away.
I had to hurry and finish the quilt before I seriously ruined my relationship.
DAY TEN
It had been a couple days since I last left the sewing room. Felix, Demetri and Heidi had taken turns bringing me food and coaxing me to my room to sleep.
I had finished sewing the rows together yesterday and now it was onto cutting the batting to size.
I laid out the top of the quilt on the floor and rolled the batting on top of that. Grabbing my scissors, I carefully cut the batting to match the quilt top. Once that was done, I grabbed the sheet and laid it next to the rest of the quilt.
Then I placed the batting on top, making sure it was centered and then added the quilt top. I walked over to the sewing table and grabbed the tomato plush that held the pins and needles.
I put a pin in each corner of the blanket and across the outer edge. I was almost done and I couldn't wait to show Alec. He had started avoiding me whenever I left and I couldn't blame him. I could only hope he'd be able to forgive me.
DAY THIRTEEN
It was finally time to sew the border of the quilt. I rubbed my eyes and grabbed the quilt, taking it to the sewing table. The machines gentle purr as it sewed had become a comforting sound during the project. My hands and back ached from all the pinning and sewing and overall bad posture.
Finally. Finally the quilt was done. I carefully folded it and placed it on the table. I sat down on the couch Felix had brought in when I started spending a majority of my time in the room.
My eyes began to droop as I gave in to my exhaustion and I fell asleep.
Alec's POV:
I walked through the castle, wondering what was so important that (Y/N) no longer talked to me. I tried to just forget about it but they would lock themselves in the room for hours on end without saying anything.
Felix and Demetri, even Heidi, kept trying to tell me everything was ok but they wouldn't tell me what they were doing.
I scoffed as I saw Felix and Heidi rushing towards me.
"You need to come see (Y/N)," Heidi said, grabbing my arm.
"Why? If you haven't noticed, they've been avoiding me."
"You numbskull, they've been working on something for you. And now it's been like 36 hours since I've seen them leave that room." Heidi scolded.
My expression soften. "36 hours?"
Felix nodded. "They wanted to do something special for your anniversary tomorrow. I won't tell you what they did but you need to come with us and get her to eat a proper meal and get some sleep."
I nodded. "Lets go then."
I followed Heidi and Felix to the room (Y/N) had been holing themselves in.
When we got there, (Y/N) was asleep on the couch. I walked over and knelt beside them.
"Darling? It's time to wake up now."
(Y/N)'s POV:
I slowly opened my eyes, scared the voice I heard was just a dream. Once my eyes adjusted, I saw Alec kneeling beside me with Felix and Heidi standing behind him.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.
"I've come to get you. Heidi and Felix told me you've been in here the last three days."
Quickly, I sat up, realizing just what was going on. "No, no, no, you can't be in here! I haven't wrapped it yet."
Tears filled my eyes at the thought of ruining the surprise.
"Love, it's okay. I haven't looked around. I just came to get you. I've been worried," Alec said, trying to calm me down.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I've been avoiding you. I just wanted to do something special for you," I explained, wiping my eyes.
Alec moved to sit next to me on the couch. "I'm sorry too. I should have been more considerate towards you. I was hurt when you started avoiding me. I should have tried to talk to you instead of avoiding you as well."
I wrapped my arms around his waist and hugged him. "We both could've communicated better. We'll do better from now on."
I felt Alec lean down and kiss the top of my head. "We will."
"You're surprise is on the sewing table. If you still want it," I told him, pulling back.
"Of course I do, love. You made it for me after all."
I smiled at him and walked over to the table, grabbing the quilt. Walking back to him, I set it in his lap. "I made it in our favourite colors."
Alec stood up and let the blanket unfurl. There was messed up stitches and some rows were slightly off but it was finished. Alec dropped the blanket on the couch and grabbed me, twirling me in the air.
"I love it. Thank you."
I hugged him again, resting my head on his shoulder. "You're welcome. I'm glad you like it."
Alec set me down and pressed a kiss to my forehead. "It's perfect. I love you."
"I love you, too."
Bonus:
"Great! Now go get some proper food, (Y/N), and go to sleep in your own bed," Heidi exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air.
"Alright, alright, fine! You win! Let's get out of here," I said, laughing.
Alec grabbed his quilt in one hand and grabbed mine in the other. We followed Heidi and Felix out of the room, happy things were normal again.

When SMeyer says vampires need to feed every two weeks is that a “they’ll feel full and completely functional for two weeks after a meal” (like how humans usually feel full for 4-5 hours before desiring more food) or a “they can go up to two weeks without feeding but that does not mean they’ll be comfortable or fully functional” (like how humans can technically last up to 30 days without food)?
Because the implications of those things are drastically different and I tend to interpret it more as the latter.
Which means Volterra isn’t feeding every two weeks and my personal hc is that the tour is probably more of a weekly or even biweekly thing.

Note
Can you do a headcanon of the Volturi guards with a human mate that is chaos in human form. The littlest task get blown up into a big deal just cause their human was somehow involved.
You know that part from emperors new groove where he’s like “no touchy!”
Okay well this is me with headcanons “No humans!”
So because I said so, this will be someone who is very chaotic and makes things much more of a spectacle than necessary
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Alright so in these scenarios babygirl you cannot control your newborn strength or speed and, much to everyone’s shock, the clumsiest vampire to exist. They all thought it would calm down after the newborn years were over but it takes you decades and you still have problems every now and again
Alec
You are stressing the poor boy out
Like he’s really tempted to sedate you just so you slow down
Broke a door because you opened it too hard? After the third time he’s probably going to yell at you and the things he will say will be far from nice and understanding
Will probably make you cry and only then will he try and find a solution
Gets you to go on missions so you stop wrecking their home, does not want anyone else upset at you
Jane
You’re gonna learn quick that you better slow down and be careful or you will get shock collared by her gift
I want to say that she tries to be patient at first but she, like her brother is just not that
She will try and talk to you about it
And to be fair she said it would mainly feel like a tingle so it’s more of a warning that you’re starting to move too quick or you look like you’re about to break something
But you know when you’re talking and you get really excited about what you’re talking about and someone says, why are you talking so loud? So you get kinda quiet… Yeah it feels a lot like that
Demetri
Puts all of things that cannot be broken away
You are not allowed in the library, like seriously he will give you tests to make sure you won’t break anything
Tries to work out most of the extra energy and chaos by taking you out of the castle
Lots of nighttime activities, Felix is debating tearing his ears out himself, twins want to kill you both
Demetri tries to find things you can do well so you shouldn’t get into too much trouble but regardless you better hope you’re gifted because Aro is debating kicking you out
Felix
Probably the most patient as usual, he had trouble co trolling his own strength as well
But thanks to that he knows how to get you distracted and mostly out of trouble
You’re the training exercise Guinea pig now, respectfully
You tend to break things on accident so when you try and cause havoc you’re a force to be reckoned with so you keep everyone on their feet.

The Other Swan
Tumblr media
Word Count: 4,410 Demetri x OC Swan. Final Part. Warnings: Fluff,
Danni excelled at being a mother to Nicolai, her maternal instincts stronger and running deeper than she ever thought possible, but then everything vampires feel is on a much deeper level compared to their human counterparts. Danni would bake cakes and cookies with Nicolai, something that he loved as he got to eat their creations. Demetri would often watch his mate and son baking together, painting together and playing games together. Danni even taught him how play the different card and board games that she played as a child so he could join in with them. Nicolai liked to call this family game time and Demetri couldn’t help smiling as he got to experience the family life he never thought he would once he became immortal.
Caius and Athenodora were pleased to hear that Danni and Demetri agreed to nurture both his human and vampire sides as this meant he got to experience the best of both worlds. Athenodora offered to bake with Nicolai one cloudy Wednesday afternoon “Can you bake Nana?” “Not really sweetie but I can read and therefore can follow the recipes from your cookbooks” She replied smiling down at him “Ok, we’ll start with a simple Chocolate cake recipe” Nicolai responded with a smile of his own as he took his Nana’s hand and walked beside her to the kitchen.
Caius decided to see how his wife and grandson were getting on in the kitchen and walked in to find her blue dress covered in flour and a streak of flour on her cheek. Nicolai had some chocolate around his lips but they both looked happy as they decorated the cake. Caius chuckled low to himself but due to their vampire hearing Athenodora and Nicolai heard him and looked up. “Look Grandpa, we’re nearly finished with our cake” “I can see, it looks delicious” He replied “It’s a shame Nana and I can’t help you eat it” “I’ve told him he has to share the cake with the new Secretary Lori especially as we have some Chocolate chunk cookies in the oven” “Sounds like a good idea darling” Caius replied smiling and Nicolai nodded in agreement.
Around the end of July Aro received a wedding invitation from Alice Cullen announcing that Bella Swan and Edward Cullen were to be married on August 13th although Caius was not happy to hear the news as he knew this was the Cullen’s way of delaying Bella’s transformation further by having a wedding first. Aro on the other hand was excited to hear of the nuptials even if this was the Cullen’s way of announcing that Bella was to become one of them. “I’m going to guess that Danni hasn’t received an invitation or even been notified of the upcoming wedding” Marcus mused aloud “Seeing as they cut her out of their lives months ago, I doubt it” Caius replied “I think we should be the ones tell her” Aro said and his brothers nodded in agreement “I agree. I won’t have secrets kept from her” Caius replied, his protectiveness coming to the surface, knowing that the news would likely upset her.  “Can I be there when you tell her please?” Demetri asked as he and Felix were the only other vampires in the room “Of course my dear boy” Marcus replied “Thank you master. This news is likely to upset her, especially after being cut out of her family’s lives” Demetri replied.
Danni was quiet over the next few days and everyone knew why and didn’t question her about it, they just let her be. Danni kept Nicolai close during these few days too, choosing to spend time with him alone. During one their shopping trips, Nicolai finds a ‘World’s Best Daddy’ mug “Mummy can I get this for Daddy please?” He asked pointing to the mug. Danni smiled before answering “Of course you can sweetie, He’ll love it” “Thank you Mummy” Nicolai replied and hugged her legs.
Later that night after his shift ended, Demetri returned to his room and saw Danni and Nicolai waiting for him, a blue and silver gift bag sitting on the coffee table. “Hello mi amore…” He kissed Danni’s cheek “…Hi buddy” He kissed his son’s hair before taking a seat beside them on the sofa. “Hi Daddy, this is for you” Nicolai said with a big grin on his face, pointing to the gift bag. “Hi babe” Danni replied smiling as Demetri reached over and opened the gift bag to reveal the mug inside. Danni and Nicolai watched as a big smile appeared on Demetri’s face, his eyes becoming glassy with unshed tears “Thank you so much buddy. I love it and you very much” He lifted his son onto his lap and hugged him close, placing a kiss on his hair.
Danni and Demetri started making plans for their wedding as Danni wanted a Winter wedding at the castle. Aro offered to officiate at the ceremony and Danni and Demetri agreed, both surprised and pleased that he wanted to participate in their wedding this way. “It would be an honour Aro, thank you” Danni said as Caius rolled his eyes dramatically from his throne, Demetri tried not to laugh at Caius’ reaction.
Heidi, Chelsea, Jane were asked to be Danni’s Bridesmaids, Gianna taking on the role of Maid of Honour. Felix was chosen as Best Man with Alec and Santiago being groomsmen and Nicolai was given the role of Ring Bearer, something he was very excited about.
Danni asked Caius to accompany her on a walk of the North facing garden and he agreed as he enjoyed spending time with his adopted daughter. They took a seat on the bench in front of the fountain and Danni took an unneeded breath before speaking. “Caius, I have something important I would like to ask you…” Caius took her hand in his and nodded for her to continue “…I wondered if you would give me away at the wedding?” Caius’ face lit up “Of course I would my child. I’m honoured that you asked” He wrapped his arms around her in hug “Thank you, not just for agreeing to give me away but for making me feel like part of the family” “You are most welcome Danni. As far as I am concerned you are my daughter and I would do anything and everything to ensure you are happy and safe always” He pulled her in for another hug, Danni resting her head on his shoulder, feeling tears fill her eyes that will go unshed.
Athenodora told Demetri that she and Caius would pay for Danni’s bridal gown along with the Bridesmaid and Maid of Honour dresses. “You don’t need to do that Mi’ lady” He replied “I know we don’t have to but we want to. As you know we see Danni as our daughter and this is our gift to you both” Demetri nodded “Thank you very much for your offer. It’s greatly appreciated” “You are most welcome my dear” She replied before giving him a quick hug. Demetri has always been Athenodora’s favourite guard and she was very happy he would become her official son-in-law soon.
Danni and Demetri had decided on a Red and White colour scheme for their Winter wedding, deciding on having Poinsettias as the centre pieces as they are a Winter flower. Red and White Roses would make up the bridal bouquets.
Caius had the guards freshen up the ballroom’s décor as it was looking a little dull after years of not being used. The cream-coloured walls looked bright and fresh against the polished real wood flooring once finished.
Marcus arranged for ‘Midnight Fangs’ a vampire quartet to play at the wedding, having had them perform at the castle during previous balls and galas.
If only they knew that all of these plans were going to be put on hold…
It is early December when Irina enters Castillo Volterra and makes her way to the throne room. Santiago opens the doors and she enters, Demetri and Felix walking towards her, curious as to what she wants. “What a pleasant surprise” Aro says as Irina enters the throne room, Marcus looks fed up and closed his book softly. “What do you want?” Caius asks sounding a little irritated turning around to face her “Hmm” She pauses a moment before replying “I have to report a crime…the Cullens…they have done something…terrible.” A smirk appears on Caius’ face and Aro closes his book and flashes over to Irina “Allow me my dear” Aro says taking her hand in his and looking at her thoughts and memories regarding the Cullen’s ‘crime’ “Oh my” He says once he’s finished. “Brother what have they have done now?” Caius asks as he walks towards them “It would appear dear brother they have created an immortal child” Aro replies “WHAT?!!” Caius shouts “ARE YOU SURE?” “Irina saw the child herself, she was jumping in the air catching snowflakes” Aro replied “Then we send the guards now! They can destroy the child and the Cullens” Caius responds “No brother. I think we will take our time, gather some witnesses and pay them a visit ourselves along with the guards” Aro replies calmly, despite the anger simmering inside. “A public trial?” Caius smirks “Yes brother. A public trial…this way we can be sure that our kind are reminded that creating immortal children is still illegal” Aro replies “Thank you for letting us know my dear” Marcus said smiling “Santiago please show Irina to one of our guest rooms” Marcus says looking at the guard “Yes master” Santiago bows his head and leads her to a guest room on the second floor.
Later that day Aro calls Danni to the throne room and asks the guards to leave except for Demetri. “Thank you for coming Danni…we have something we need to discuss with you” Aro starts “Ok. Have I done something wrong?” She asks looking between the Kings and Demetri “No, Danni you have done nothing wrong” Aro replies with a warm smile and Danni instantly relaxes “However, someone you know well has done something wrong, illegal even…” He pauses for a moment “…It would seem that the Cullens have created an immortal child…” “You have to got to be kidding me? Like seriously? What the hell?” Danni cuts Aro off. The Kings and Demetri cannot help laughing a little at her reaction. “Well I hope you plan to deal with them accordingly Caius” She adds looking at him “Yes child we do. There will be a public trial in Forks with witnesses” He replies and she nods “You don’t object to that?” Marcus asks curiously “No, I don’t. Caius gave me a history lesson once whilst Demi was away and informed me of your laws and how you dealt with the immortal children problem when it arose centuries ago” “But Bella’s your sister” Marcus adds, his head tilted to the side slightly “Don’t remind me!...” Danni bites back and Demetri intertwined his fingers with hers, squeezing them gently “…She left me here nine months ago and hasn’t looked back, remember” The Kings all nod at her, sympathy shining in their ruby eyes at the memory of that day.
A moment of silence passed before Danni spoke again “Can I ask how you know about this?” “We had a visitor this afternoon and she told us about the child. In fact, the child was seen with your sister” Aro replied “Bella may not have been aware of immortal children and the law surrounding them but Carlisle would have known and I’m sure Edward would also have been aware. They have broken a law and need to face the consequences and let’s face it you’ve been lenient in the past with Bella and Edward and look how they’ve repaid you” She responds back “That was not the reaction I was expecting from you my dear but I will say I am impressed with the way you have handled the news” Aro tells her honestly “Thank you Aro. I do, however, have a request…regarding the trial and any subsequent punishment” “We’re listening my dear” Caius replies this time and steps closer to her “I do not want Demetri to have any involvement in the punishment of the Cullens, especially Bella and Edward. I am not sure if you are aware but last summer Edward and his brothers killed a vampire who tried to kill Bella and as a result the vampire’s mate sought revenge…she even tried to kill Bella. This took place after Edward left her…before we came here…” She paused to see the Kings reactions, they nodded for her to continue “…As selfish as this may seem I am asking that Demetri is not involved as I do not want any of the Cullens to come after me or him as revenge. I do not want to be looking over my shoulder or worrying about him when he is on missions, more than I do already. Also, I do not want our son to grow up with only one parent” She added looking up at Demetri to see that he was looking down at her lovingly. “I think we can all agree with that request my dear, after all you haven’t asked for anything since you arrived and you understand the situation we are in and have handled it better than we expected. I also have no desire to risk anything happening to my grandson or his parents” Caius answered her “Thank you Caius” She replied and gave him a quick hug “Yes thank you master for agreeing to Danni’s request” “You are both welcome. We do, however, ask that you both accompany us when we go to Forks” He replies “Of course master” Demetri replies and Danni nods in agreement.
The following day Irina was in the library reading along with Alec when Danni entered with Nicolai “What the...?” Irina says shocked when she notices the little boy who resembles Demetri but who clearly has a heartbeat “Irina this Danni, Demetri’s mate and their son Nicolai” Alec introduces them “It’s nice to meet you Irina” Danni smiles at her “Nice to meet you too” Irina replies “Nicolai…he has a-a heartbeat…but how?” Irina asks “I’m half-human, half-vampire” He replies “I had him whilst I was still human, Demetri changed me after he was born…about six months ago” Danni adds “But he-he looks like...” Irina trails off “His vampire side means he grows faster than his human counterparts and is quite smart for his age too” Danni tells her as she takes a seat on the sofa opposite her and Nicolai sits beside his mum. “I didn’t know that vampires could have children” Irina says looking at the boy “Neither did we. It was a surprise to us all to discover that male vampires can father children with human females” Alec responds. “I’m gifted too like mummy and daddy” Nicolai says proudly “Really? May I ask what your gift is Nicolai?” Irina asks, curiosity shining in her amber coloured eyes “I’m a shield like mummy and I am able to track people like daddy, but only those with shields. I fill in the gaps of daddy’s gift” He replies proudly “Wow” Irina breathed out, “I can’t believe how much he looks like Demetri” Irina says looking between Nicolai and Danni “I know, me too. He’s a mini version of his dad” Danni replies and Nicolai just smiles back at Irina.
A few days later Nicolai and Irina were walking in the South facing garden when he stopped walking and gently tugged on her hand to get her attention. “Irina, can I ask why you have amber coloured eyes seeing as you are a vampire?” Nicolai asked curiosity shining in his blue eyes “I have amber eyes because I am a vegetarian vampire…” “What’s a vegetarian vampire?” He asked, cutting her off “A vegetarian vampire survives on animal blood instead of human blood” She responded and watched as Nicolai tried to process this information and knew he would have more questions for her. “What animals do you eat and how do you find them?” “Where I live in Alaska, there is a very big forest surrounding our house and my family and I hunt the animals there. In the forest there are different animals, Bears, Moose, Wolves and Caribou to name a few” “Oh, that’s different. Why don’t you hunt humans like other vampires?” “My family and I used to hunt humans but after many years we decided to try surviving on animal blood and found that we could survive that way, although there are not many vegetarian vampires” “You are the first vegetarian vampire I have met” He said with a smile “You are the first vampire / human hybrid that I’ve met” She replied with a smile of her own. They resumed their walk around the garden and continued to talk about different topics. Irina was surprised at how ‘grown-up’ Nicolai was and sounded despite how young he was.
Whilst the Kings and the four Elite guards were away from the castle to gather some witnesses of their own for the upcoming Cullen trial, Danni found that Nicolai’s shielding ability had developed. “Look Mummy…” Danni looked up from her book to see a faint shimmering glow circling her son, giving him the appearance of being inside a protective bubble. Danni smiled, feeling proud of her son and his growing ability. “That’s amazing sweetie” She praised him and he smiled back at her. She wondered if she could get her shield do the same or something similar at the very least. ‘It’d be nice to be able to protect the ones I love, as well as myself’ She thought to herself and decided to ask Santiago and Heidi for their help in Demetri’s absence.
Danni and Nicolai met with Santiago and Heidi the following morning in the south-facing garden as they had agreed to help them develop their shielding abilities. Nicolai asked to train with Santiago as he knew that Demetri had trained Santiago when he joined the guard and still spars with him regularly. Danni and Heidi worked together to see how her shield worked and if she could shield someone other than herself.
With a lot of hard work, Danni was able to shield multiple people as she had practised constantly, pushing her shield to its max. Her shield looked different to her son’s as hers looked almost like it was an extension of her, a faint shimmering was the only hint that her shield was in use to protect the ones she loved.
Upon Demetri’s return to the castle Danni and Nicolai updated him on the development of their gifts. Nicolai was able to shield not only himself but one other person easily. “I hope I can shield more people when I’m older” He said looking up at his dad “You’re doing just fine as you are buddy” Demetri replied proudly, as he looked down at his son as they both stood inside Nicolai’s ‘protective bubble.’
Caius, Aro and Marcus stood watching Danni and Nicolai with proud smiles on their faces. “At least we can keep Edward from reading our thoughts now” Caius said proudly and nudged Aro slightly “Yes, and it’ll be a good surprise for the damned law breaker too” Aro replied with a smile.
December 31st – Confrontation –
Once it had been declared that Renesmee was not an immortal child, Irina was ripped apart and burned for providing a false allegation against the Cullens. “That’s a shame mummy, I liked her” Nicolai said low so only his parents heard him and she nodded in response.
Alice and Jasper made their way back to the Cullens and their witnesses but before anyone could leave Vladimir shouts out “TRAITOR” and looks directly at Danni “Excuse me?” She asks “You are on the wrong side my dear, should you not be over here supporting your sister?” He replies “Supporting my sister, why would I want to do that after what she and her precious Edward did?” “You mean have a child together?” Stefan replies “No. I’m talking about the fact that they left me in Volterra nine months ago and haven’t been in touch since. In fact, I received one letter from Esme telling me that once Edward and Bella landed back here, they told my dad I had died in an accident and that a memorial was held for me. Edward made that decision on the flight back from Volterra thus, ensuring I could never come home to see my dad, never have the chance to introduce him to my mate. They took away my chance to say goodbye” She replied and noticed the shocked looks on the faces of the Cullen’s witnesses “Oh…you all look surprised. Did they not tell you that part? Did they also tell you that they never invited me to their wedding? I only found out about the wedding from Aro after they sent an invitation to him to let him know it was taking place. It was their way of announcing Bella’s transformation.” She added and Demetri squeezed her hand gently. Caius moved closer to Danni, a scowl settling on his face.
“I notice you have a child of your own” Tanya says looking at Nicolai “Yes, I do. My son was born six months ago and my fiancée changed me after he was delivered, we didn’t want to risk another pregnancy as there was no guarantee I would handle another one so well” She responded and noticed Carlisle looked a little confused. “Danni drank human blood regularly once we discovered she was pregnant, this allowed her to meet the baby’s needs and she was able to keep certain foods down too” Caius advised him proudly and Carlisle nodded, clearly impressed as it sounded like Danni had an easier pregnancy than her sister.
“Why did you not tell me I had a nephew?” Bella asked “Why would I? You cut me out of your life, cut me out of my own family. I have a new family now and I couldn’t be happier” Danni replies smiling.
“You have a chance to reconnect with one another, especially as you both have children now” Esme replies softly “Esme as much as I like you and Carlisle, we’re all aware that if it wasn’t for this ‘situation’ we wouldn’t even be talking. I mean none of you got in touch to advise me of the wedding or that my niece was born three months ago” Danni replied. “You can’t take the high ground Danni, your mate would have killed us if there had been a fight today” Edward called out “That is where you are wrong Eddie. The Kings agreed to my request of keeping Demetri out of any executions involving you Cullens as I didn’t want any of you coming after me or my mate as revenge. I protected my family unlike you. I mean look what happened after you killed James, his mate went after Bella to avenge him and you weren’t even here to protect her. So, I have every reason to take the high ground as you put it as I have done nothing to any of you” She replied. Edward went to speak but Caius cut him off “I would consider your next words to Danni very carefully Cullen or you’ll find yourself joining Irina in becoming a pile of ash” “Why do you care what he says to her?” Bella asked “I care because Danni is my daughter and no one, and I do mean no one will disrespect a member of my family” Caius replies and Demetri smirks at the Cullens as surprise registers on their faces.
“What?…how…?” Bella struggled to speak, too shocked at Caius’ news. “My wife and I always wanted to have a daughter and once we met and got to know Danni, things fell into place and we came to care for her as though she was our daughter…” Caius spoke looking directly at Bella “And I came to care about Caius and Dora as my parents in return” Danni finished Caius’ sentence with a warm smile. Everyone watched as Athenodora stepped forward and slipped her hand into her husband’s as she spoke “We were there for Danni when she needed love and support as she navigated her way through a new relationship, whilst she settled into her new life and her new home...” Bella looked as though she wanted to say something but Athenodora didn’t give her chance. “…You abandoned your sister without a second thought when she needed you, needed your support to navigate her way through a new relationship, a relationship with a vampire no less and everything that came with that, seeing as you had experience with this but you chose Edward instead.” Danni nodded and felt so loved in that moment hearing her adoptive parents speak this way about her.
“Just so we are clear Bella, you will not be receiving an invitation to our wedding as it’s for our family and friends only” Demetri adds and Danni nods in agreement before adding “We had to postpone our special day because of you and your ‘antics.’”
Silence filled the air as no one spoke, as they tried to process everything they’ve just heard. “Danni and the Volturi are telling the truth about everything…” Maggie says looking around at the Cullen’s witnesses “…And Bella and Edward haven’t even bothered to apologise or make amends for their actions” Maggie continued, distaste clear in her voice.
“Our apologies Danni for calling you a traitor. It appears we were not told the truth regarding yours and Demetri’s situation” Vladimir called out and she and Demetri nodded. “That’s quite alright. I don’t blame Demetri for keeping me by his side that day. If I’m being honest, I’m glad he did as our relationship developed naturally and I got to have a son with the man I love. I am looking forward to spending an eternity with my family and that doesn’t include any of you” She replied looking at Bella and the Cullens, before turning to face her mate. “Let’s go home mi amore” Demetri smiled down at her and looked at Marcus who just smiled and nodded. The Cullens and their witnesses watched as Demetri and Danni left the field with their son and didn’t look back.

I hope this doesn't come across as a headcanon request, and if it does, feel free to ignore it. I just saw that "Volturi and Taylor Swift lyrics" post you made and I was wondering if you think any of the Volturi are Swifties?

Spider Lilies and the Sun (Alec x Reader)
A Twilight fanfiction
Author's note: Check out my blog. I take requests <3
Tumblr media
Carefully, you tried to draw the spider lilies that were lying on the wooden table in front of you. Your pencil drew a line here and there, deepening the shadows or adding a new leaf. It was difficult for you to capture the lightning appropriately on the thick parchment that you studied for a moment, drawing your head back to create some distance. To some extent you were satisfied with what you have produced so far. You have never been especially good at drawing, but somehow you have a hand for illustrating the beauty of flowers just enough to distinguish yourself from a beginner. But if you would ever reach the skills of a professional artist was hard to say… Only time could tell.
While you drew, you listened to the conversation between Heidi, Chelsea, and Corin. The three vampires were sitting on the sofas that were situated in the middle of the drawing room of the Volturi’s castle. Soft sunlight shone through the windows, and you had opened one in the corner you had isolated yourself in. The temperate late summer breeze smelled wonderful, tickling your nostrils and helping you relax.
“Have you heard that the coven in France tried to trick the Kings?” asked Heidi in her enticing voice, playing with her dark hair as her legs were swung over the armrest of the armchair that she was lounging in. Her short skirt had hiked up dangerously, but Heidi knew how to be classy without coming off as cheap. Her legs were pressed together, revealing nothing inappropriate.
Chelsea nodded vigorously, not looking up from the book she was reading. “Of course, we have heard,” she remarked. Her tone was stoic and cold, but she didn’t mean it. You had learned that she was generally nice and didn’t have any mean intentions. But that was all. You would never expect a selfless act from her. Not from any of the vampires living in Volterra. “The French coven was the reason why Aro sent the twins, Demetri, and Felix to investigate. After all, the coven’s leader claimed that they have created a newborn with extraordinary abilities. The rumor spread like wildfire and eventually reached us, the Volturi. How could it not?”
Corin snorted and shook her head in disbelief. “Turned out the coven leader boasted a little too much.”
“Right,” chimed in Heidi, chuckling. “Apparently, they wanted to bargain with the Kings and offer the newborn for a price. But said newborn didn’t possess any special abilities at all. When Demetri and Felix called to inform the Kings, they mentioned that Alec was absolutely livid.” With a knowing grin, she looked at you and caught your eye. Quickly you looked back down at your sheet, acting like that strange and yet familiar name hadn’t caught your attention. Heidi’s voice sounded insinuating when she added, “We all know that lately he has no room for unnecessary distractions that could lead him astray from the castle.”
Heat rose to your cheeks, and you couldn’t say why. Only that Alec, even just the mention of his name, induced you with extreme nervousness. And a giddiness that you had tried to suppress by distracting yourself and drinking lots of water to drown the butterflies in your stomach. Alec. He was mesmerizing, absolutely enchanting. And also the reason why you, as a human, found yourself among vampire royalty. One day you decided to take a walk and breathe fresh air. While you were walking through the forest, looking defeated at your feet because the pressure that came with your studies really got to you that day, a pair of polished, expensive shoes came into view. Surprised, you looked up, staring into the beautiful red eyes of a young man who towered over you. Considering his insatiable stare, you probably should have been afraid, but you weren’t. There was something oddly calming about the way he gazed at you and how the wheels in his head seemed to turn before they finally clicked, and his hungry stare was replaced with a deep softness. Then, black mist enveloped you, and after many hours of traveling, you found yourself in Volterra.
You had been living with the vampires for a little over three months and found it hard to adjust to your new life. You hadn’t been told why Alec brought you to Volterra, but the Kings had informed you that one day when the time was ripe, you would become one of them. You had no clue when the time would be ripe, but for now, that was unimportant.
You were glad that everyone realized that you needed a lot of space and time alone. You had your own room and designated corners – like the one in the drawing room – that were solely reserved for you. Whenever you decided to take refuge in these places, everyone knew you wanted to be left alone. Fortunately, everyone was patient with you and answered your questions whenever you had any. The vampires learned to respect your boundaries, or rather, they had known how to do that all along since they were territorial beings. In turn, you learned to respect their limits and expectations. For example, you had to stay in your chamber when they fed in the throne room or when trials were being held. During these times, the vampires were especially busy, and no one could keep an eye on you to make sure you were not becoming a snack for the lower guard.
As for Alec... you got along fine. There were moments when he seemed like he wanted to open up to you, but then he would withdraw suddenly, sitting down somewhere and watching you with a wistful expression while you read or drew. He kept you at arms-length: close enough but not too close. He didn’t want to give you away either. If anything, he was strangely possessive, and at the same time, aloof. He would be attentive one day, and the next he would pretend like you didn’t exist. It drove you insane.
Well, at the beginning it did… After some frustrating nights, when you couldn’t sleep because of his behavior, you decided it was not worth spending the energy you needed on overthinking. You would just do you, stick to yourself, and be nice to Alec when he approached you. But you would refuse to seek him out. Your pride and self-respect put you first in this confusing connection with the vampire. You had never been in love, always waiting for the right one. Of course, you met men and thought that they might be your forever person only to end up disappointed because it turned out they were only being nice to you for sexual fun. Something you never gave them. Now, Alec was a classy guy. He was the type to court respectfully, and if he wanted some fun, he would be straightforward. Nonetheless, his intentions were anything but clear to you. So, you sought stability in yourself; if he had something to say, he could always do it, but you wouldn’t run after him.
Honestly, you were glad when you heard that he would go on a mission to France. His name was playing on repeat in your head like a prayer whether he was present or not, and you did need some time to yourself to get that foolish heart of yours, which sometimes beat like you were love-struck, in check again. And so far, it had worked wondrously. In the past few days, you had barely thought about him at all.
“So,” began Corin, resuming the conversation about the French coven, “what happened to the coven? Did Alec act on his anger? Lately, he has been inclined to do so. His emotions are running high. Higher than usual.”
Heidi giggled excitedly. “Well, luckily, Felix and Demetri could talk him out of it. The coven got away with a warning. The twins, the giant, and the tracker should return today.”
Your throat constricted. You didn’t know if you really wanted to see Alec. Hopefully, he would just ignore you. But your hopes were crushed. Two hours later the door to the drawing room opened, and Alec came inside. The girls stopped talking abruptly, looking between you and the elite guard. Alec’s posture was imposing, and with one narrowed glance and a barely noticeable tilt of his head, he commanded them to leave. Sighing and voicing their discontent, Heidi, Corin, and Chelsea left. The thud of the door when it closed sounded too foreboding. You focused on your drawing - you had begun with another one, not quite satisfied with your first try.
You hoped that Alec would just sit on the sofa, but unfortunately, he drew up a chair opposite you, and you focused on the movement of your pencil, not looking up.
His voice was deep and warm when it rang out. “How have you been? Are you well?”
“I’m good,” you replied stubbornly, making it clear that you didn’t want to talk to him. But Alec did not defer. He picked up your first drawing. That was when you gazed up anxiously at him. You didn’t want him to see your art. Why? Because in a way, you depended on his validation. What if he didn’t think of your drawing as good enough? Then you would suck it up and live with it. You wouldn’t let it affect your motivation for your artistic nature though.
The corners of Alec’s mouth were raised slightly when he saw your anxious expression, knowing he got to you. But if he hadn’t been sitting so close to you, you would have thought he was wearing his typical inscrutable expression. He leaned back in his chair, crossing his legs, holding your crafted spider lily up with one hand while he examined it, and gripping the armrest with his other hand. He wasn’t wearing gloves. That was unusual… The hand on the armrest glittered as it caught the sunlight. It was the only body part of his that was exposed to the sun. He didn’t like to shine in the sunlight. When you first saw how his skin reacted to the sun, he became angry. Not with you. But with the sun, you think. You were taking a stroll through the garden together, and when you reached up to touch his cheek as it began to glow, he pushed you away and told you to leave. That hurt.
“Hmmm…” Alec hummed, nodding. “You are improving. You have a talent for drawing.” With care, he placed the paper down on the desk.
Your body betrayed you when your heart rate picked up and your cheeks flushed pink. You were beyond happy. Somehow you managed to suppress the reply – “Do you really think so?” – that was beginning to form. You bit your tongue hard.
“How was France?” you asked instead.
“I have been there many times. It was worthwhile. As always.”
“Good to hear.”
“I would like to visit it with you someday. I have been there so often that it has become a little… boring and stale. But I feel like your presence would make the atmosphere special again.”
Suspiciously, you narrowed your eyes. Here we go again with the ambiguous meanings… “What do you mean? Alec, sorry, but you have not been exactly welcoming towards me. One moment you are hot, and the other you are cold and don’t let me in. I still don’t know why you brought me to this shit hole in which I’m supposed to spend eternity. You owe me a lot of explanations.”
His eyes studied you. He contemplated long, his red orbs wandering down to your collarbone and noting how well your cropped cardigan and your high-waisted jeans fitted you. Your body was bliss to him. Your personality meant salvation. He had to come forward. He knew he was being unfair, and how could he be unjust to someone he loved?
Without warning, he pushed back his chair, creating a scraping sound, and stood up. He walked towards you, grabbing the backrest of your stool and turning it around. You were now looking up at him, and your heart stuttered as he lowered his torso, placing his hands on the armrests, caging you. His brown, thick locks fell in front of his forehead, and his red orbs bored holes into the core of your soul. You nervously played with your hands in your lap, biting your lips.
“Don’t do that,” he spoke softly, his breath fanning your face.
“What?”
“Biting your lip. You always do it when you are nervous or stressed. You have been doing it while I was gone.” He used his thumb to smooth your lips. You swallowed hard at the skin contact. “I can see little wounds.” Was that why he decided to not wear gloves? Had he been planning to initiate physical contact?
You pushed his hand away. “What do you want?”
“Fine,” he grunted, straightening himself up. “I will be blunt about it.”
“Naturally.”
“You are my mate,” he admitted. Carefully, he studied your reserved features. But you felt anything but reserved. You were elated. Finally, you found the love you had always wished for. You had envied the connection Afton and Chelsea shared, how they gazed at each other with unprecedented adoration. Often, you had watched them interacting, wondering when you could not only be loved like Afton loved Chelsea but when you could finally look as ardently at someone the way Chelsea stared at Afton. You wanted to love, too. Not just be loved. What you and Alec could have… maybe that would rival their connection and put them to shame.
“What do you think?” Alec asked, testing the waters.
“Only that it all makes sense now. My palpitating heart when you are near or how I can’t get your name out of my head.” Contemplatively, you looked up at Alec. “That’s why you brought me to Volterra. When we met in the forest, you sensed that I was your mate.”
“I did.”
You stood up, bringing your hands to his cheeks. He brought your foreheads together, and you enjoyed the coldness of his touch. On a warm summer day, there was no one you wanted to bury yourself in more passionately than Alec.
“You fear this connection as much as I do,” you whispered. “That’s why you are sometimes so aloof. You are afraid of getting hurt. So am I. And honestly, in your presence, I find it hard to think straight. It is like my emotions don’t belong to me but to you.”
“Yes. They spiral out of control, and only you, as my counterpart, can reach them. Tame them.”
“Then I will cherish them and hold them close. You have nothing to fear, Alec.”
Tentatively Alec closed the gap between the two of you, tasting your lips in a reassuring kiss. It seemed that you had nothing to fear either.

Yandere Volturi Guards Reactions To You Attempting To Escape:
WARNINGS: Yandere, running away, torture, angst, mature language, blackmail, manipulation, toxic relationship, seduction, etc.
SUMMARY: You tried to run away from your kidnapper lover but your attempt failed and now you have to face the consequences of your actions. Problem is, how will your beloved yandere react to it and what are the punishments that lie ahead for you?
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Honestly, I wanted to make this have more than just Felix, Jane, Alec, Heidi and Demetri but I don't know the entire background and personalities of the other Volturi guards, so perhaps next time when i have more information about them. I imagine Elizabeth Gillies as Heidi, but it's fine if you imagine her as someone else! Also, Felix's and Alec's actions are similar to each other but they are not exactly the same.
MASTERLIST: Feel free to check out my other works! :)
-----
FELIX VOLTURI AKA THE EXECUTIONER
Tumblr media
Felix tries to be understanding of your actions but he ends up being sad since he has done everything he could to make you happy and you still wanted to leave him after all this time. Demetri was the one to find you attempting to escape and managed to get you back to Volterra, but for some reasons, Demetri being the one to catch you trying to escape actually makes Felix feel worse than if he was the one to catch you himself. Felix just gave you space at first, only watching you from a distance, before he started giving you gifts and do small things that he knows you would appreciate. He was doing everything he could to make you stay. It was all geniune and you could see that as well. You probably end up feeling guilty in the end and agreed to continue to stay with him. However, to ensure that you wouldn't try to run away anymore, Felix would be stricter with security measures and made sure that there's a guard who's always secretly watching you from a distance at all times.
DEMETRI VOLTURI AKA THE CASANOVA
Tumblr media
You tried to get away from Demetri Volturi? The best tracker in the whole fucking world? You must have been really bloody insane, confident or just quite desperate. There's nothing else left to be said. This man can literally track you anywhere and everywhere. He knows where you are at all times, not just because of his tracking gift, but also because of his vampire senses. And even if you did try to escape him while he's on a mission, he will always know how to find you and get you back in his arms again. He usually doesn't take your escapes seriously and almost think of it as a game of hide and seek or a challenge of some sort but at times when he does take it seriously, he gets a bit stricter with you afterwards and made sure that a guard is with you all the time.
ALEC VOLTURI AKA THE "NUMB" WITCH TWIN
Tumblr media
You would usually try to escape while Alec is on a mission far away from Volterra, so it was always another guard who catches you trying to escape or even sneak out to just have some relaxation, most of the time it's Demetri or Felix. At first, Alec only stayed silent the whole time while he's always near you, before he starts giving you gifts and do small but sweet gestures that he knows you would appreciate, similar to Felix. However, unlike Felix, Alec's gifts and sweet gestures aren't geniune at all. They are all just part of his scheme to guilt trip you into staying with him. He would indirectly make you think that you are the one at fault. But if manipulation doesn't work with you, then he knows a few other extreme ways that does.
JANE VOLTURI AKA THE "PAIN" WITCH TWIN
Tumblr media
Jane is furious. Very fucking furious. It certainly didn't make it any better that she was the one who had caught you trying to run away. Jane's solution to deal with your behaviour is through torture, but she would most likely not use her gift on you. Most likely. It depends on the situation entirely and Jane's mood as well. However, Jane will definitely force you into isolation in your room for weeks, perhaps even months if you continue to go against her. She would not allow anyone to go near your room, not even to deliver your meals. Jane will be the only one to do everything that's related to you. Not even his brother, Alec, has visited you once during your isolation. You will either break or kneel to her, it is all up to you. On a side note: she would probably force you into isolation a little longer than she had planned merely for fun, even if you were already begging her to let you out.
HEIDI VOLTURI AKA THE SEDUCTRESS
Tumblr media
Heidi would be furious and annoyed as well if her darling mate tried to escape her. She was the one to catch you trying to escape when she noticed your scent lingering a little in the group of tourists she was leading in. She left to investigate and saw you hurrying into town. Heidi was a little more furious than she would be if you had attempted to escape on a regular day. Why? Well, you interrupted her during her fucking job, that's why. It will take a bit of time for her to forgive you but when she does, she will use her gift on you and attempt to seduce you. You will have a hard time resisting her, but if you somehow manage to resist her, then Heidi will have no other choice than to get help from Corrin. She will get her to mend the relationship between the both of you and Corrin will also make you forget about any doubts you have of Heidi throughout the relationship.
ALEC VOLTURI & JANE VOLTURI AKA THE WITCH TWINS
Tumblr media
You had a yandere Alec or a yandere Jane, now imagine having a yandere Alec and a yandere Jane and trying to run away from them. Well, no one can help you now from their wrath, perhaps not even the masters, not like they would be paying much attention to the well being of the humans in their castle though. Alec is more "merciful" than his sister and will persuade her to give you a slightly lesser torturing punishment, but it's a little hard for her to do, especially since she was always the one to catch you doing things that the twins had forbidden you to do. Eventually, Jane settled on using your loved ones to blackmail you into staying with them. You were bloody terrified and agreed to stay, while Alec would be trying to "make up" to you for their actions afterwards by doing grand things that you would be completely in love with, whether it's to make sure your loved ones stays in a luxurious new home or anything that makes you momentarily forget about what they had done.

Drunk (Alec Volturi x reader)
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Description: Before being changed you really want to go out one last time.
1780 words
„Isn’t that dress a little short?“, Alec looked at your form critically and an unhappy frown made its way onto his face. „No love, that’s what people wear these days at parties“, you giggled and let him pull you into his arms. „I don’t like it“, he grumbled under his breath, his fingers tracing the end of your dress just under your butt. „So you’re telling me you don’t think I look pretty?“, you pouted and his eyes snapped from your low neckline to your eyes. You were sure if he could blush he would’ve. „No, you look absolutely ravishing, but I’m surely not the only one to notice“, he said with an edge in his voice. „You’re the only one who gets to take it off of me though“, you blushed a little at your own boldness, making him smile, „and don’t worry, Heidi and Renata are with me.“
„Just be careful alright?“, Alec softly stroked your cheek and you smiled at him innocently. „Of course, I love you!“, you reassured him and kissed him goodbye before he could change his mind. You were only going to be human for a few more months and you wanted to go out clubbing one last time before being turned. After pestering Alec for days he finally agreed, Heidi and Renata quickly volunteering to go with you. You had asked Jane too, but she just looked at you as if you’d grown a second head.
So you got ready, put on your favorite dress and now you were out the door to meet the other two at the door. What Alec didn’t know (but the girls did) was that you were planning to get drunk one last time too, making this a real and memorable last party night. Not that you were planning on getting blackout drunk, just a little buzz.
————————
You stumbled over your own feet a little when you made your way to Renata who was sitting at the bar. Heidi was still dancing, but you needed a break. You were a little worried that the two of them wouldn’t like the music or something, but they fit right in and seemed to have fun. You were definitely having fun, especially after the Tequilas and Margeritas you already had. You really forgot how exciting it is to go out clubbing with your friends.
A few hours later (it was already about four in the morning) and you three finally had enough, so you made your way home. The club was about twenty minutes away from the castle, so you strolled through the empty dark streets of Volterra, occasionally stumbling over other people on their way home.
„So you need to explain to me tomorrow why exactly it is fun for humans to get drunk“, Heidi laughed after you stumbled over the cobblestone yet again. „It’s…I don’t know, you just let loose and you’re not as…hey look, there’s a cat!“, you squealed the end and walked over to the cat that was sitting on the small wall infront of a house.
After about five minutes Renata and Heidi were finally able to convince you to go home, eventhough the cat was clearly enjoying all the attention so you didn’t really understand why. „Do you think Alec will let me get a cat?“, you wondered as you three rounded the last corner before arriving at the castle. „You should ask him“, Renata told you while Heidi opened the door and you walked in.
„Come one, we’ll go to your room so you can ask him right away!“, Heidi grinned and led you up the stairs. Halfway through the second floor corridor you encountered Felix and Demetri. „Oh, if it isn’t our party group“, Demetri laughed and Felix couldn’t help the grin making its way onto his face.
„Oh I’m so glad we met you! In need your opinion: Do you think Alec will let me get a cat?“, you whispered and stumbled forward, Demetri catching you before you could fall. „Woah there, dancing wasn’t the only thing you were doing tonight hm?“, he completely ignored your question. „You let the little human get drunk?“, Felix laughed loudly this time, „Oh this it too good!“
„Hey!“, you pouted at him, „I’m not that drunk!“ „Ah come on, we had to let her have some fun tonight, once she’s turned she can’t get drunk anymore“, Heidi dismissed them and pulled you along. „Good luck explaining that to Alec!“, Demetri called from behind you and you could hear them laughing even when you entered the staircase.
You entered the third floor where yours and Alec’s room was located and you just passed Janes door when it happened. You were distracted by the spiderweb on the ceiling and tripped over the end of the carpet, Heidi and Renata too surprised to catch you and so you fell right onto the stonefloor of the castle. Knees first. Before you could fall over and additionally scratch your hands Heidi reacted and caught you.
„Oh shit“, was the only thing Renata said, but you brushed Heidi off and got up. It didn’t even hurt that bad. „It’s alright, doesn’t even hurt don’t worry“, you tried to calm them down, not really grasping why they looked so horrified. „Why the hell are you bleeding?“, came a deep voice from behind you, which you immediately recognized as Alec.
„I’m not-“, you started to protest but looked down at your knees to see that you actually were bleeding a little. „Oh“, you added unintelligently and looked up to see the fear in Heidi and Renatas faces. „It’s not that bad, I just…uhm I stumbled over the carpet I think“, your drunk self wasn’t really helping right now.
„Are you…are you drunk?“, Jane was standing next to Heidi and Renata now and had to suppress an amused grin. „Uh…no“, you said, and god damn why couldn’t your brain speed it up a little. Alec was now standing next to you looking you up and down. „Why is she drunk?“, he asked, clearly addressing Renata and Heidi but not taking his gaze of your knees. Before they could answer your brain seemed to finally be able to think again.
„Alec it’s not their fault, I just wanted to have a last real night out before changing“, you softly told him, your hand on his shoulder but his stern look didn’t really fade. Before you could react he picked you up bridal style and sped into your room, slamming the door. „Oh please don’t do this“, you whined your hand clawing at his shoulder, „you’re going to make me throw up.“
Alec just gave you the silent treatment and sat you down on the vanity in the bathroom, cleaning out the small wounds on your knees and putting Band-Aids on. „Don’t be mad“, you whispered stroking his hair when he put the second one on. „Why would you do that?! Imagine if you fell on the lower guard floor where some of the younger vampires live! Heidi and Renata couldn’t have held them all back!“, Alec’s anger was practically tangible in the air.
You shrank back a little, your drunk self feeling emotions even more than your normal one. „I’m sorry“, you whispered and your eyes started to water involuntarily. At the sight of your wet eyes Alec just sighed, head tilting back and eyes closing for a moment. He seemed to gather himself before stepping up to you again, your legs spreading a little when he stepped between them.
„It’s just…I could have lost you“, he said quietly gripping your thighs. „It’s alright, I’m sorry“, you sighed, your hands making their way around his neck. After a few moments of you two silently enjoying her others presence, Alec picked you up, your legs automatically crossing behind his back. „We should get you to bed“, he said, letting you down on the bed and pulling out some pajamas. „I never told you that, but you picking me up like that is so hot“, you whispered but knew that he could hear you. „I’ll use that information to my advantage“, he grinned as he came over again with your clothes.
—————————
Waking up the next day, you remembered why alcohol wasn’t always that fun. Your head was thumping with the worst headache and your stomach felt a little sensitive even if you hadn’t moved yet. You carefully turned around hoping to find some water, your mouth feeling like sandpaper. „Good morning love“, Alecs voice came from your right. „Not so loud“, you whispered holding your head and slowly sitting up.
You carefully opened your eyes and immediately grabbed the water bottle on your nightstand. „Do we have any pain killers?“, you asked after drinking some of the water and Alec seemed to have been ready for that question, because he handed you some right away. „Thanks“, you whispered still not really present.
„I have to go in a few minutes there’s a trial do you think you’ll be okay?“, he asked and at least had a sympathetic smile on his face at the sight of you discomfort. „Yeah sure I’ll sleep a little longer“, you tried to smile and squeezed his hand before laying back down and turning over.
A few hours later you woke up a second time already feeling a bit better. Alec was still not back so you downed the rest of your water bottle and decided you have to get something to eat now. After brushing your teeth and skincare, you threw on a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie and made your way to the kitchen. You were really hoping you wouldn’t encounter anybody, you were sure they would find great amusement in your suffering.
Your hopes were shattered though, because just before you could enter the kitchen on the second floor, you heard Demetri’s voice behind you. „Ah my ears weren’t deceiving me, it is our favorite little human“, he smirked standing next to you, „how are you feeling?“ „Okay“, you rolled your eyes, entering the kitchen.
He sat down at the table and as if on cue Heidi entered too. „Good Morning“, she grinned, „or should I say good afternoon?“ Both her and Demetri had to laugh at that. „Ha ha“, was your only reaction, their laughs making your headache flare up again. „So did you ask Alec about the cat?“, a third voice asked while you poured milk into your cereal. Cat?
„I don’t think she remembers that“, Heidi laughed, Renata and Demetri joining her. „Could you three keep it down please?“ you muttered, sitting down at the table too. That only made them laugh even louder.

The test of a vampire : A Beauty and the Beast re-telling Part Six-Finale
Tumblr media
The test of a vampire : A Beauty and the Beast re-telling
Marcus dei Volturi x female OC
Caterina still wants to go home, even though her time with Marcus has become pleasant enough. Her friend, Felix, proved to be a godsend, listening to her when she needs someone to talk with. In the end, will it be Marcus who gets his wish, or will Caterina get hers? Perhaps both will find their wishes fulfilled.
Chapter Six - Finale (so it's longer than previous chapters)
The Redemption
oooooooooooooooooooo
As the days passed, Caterina found she was enjoying the evenings spent with Marcus while he read to her. The timbre of his voice always relaxed her just before she was supposed to go to bed. She would finish her chores for the day, then have her supper. Afterwards, Felix would take her to Marcus' chambers, something she finally questioned him about while they were walking there.
"Felix, why must you always deliver me to Marcus? I do know the way," Caterina remarked.
"Sometimes, as you're well aware, he wants me to stay until your visit is over. Standing guard, as it were," Felix answered, careful not to say too much.
"Why does he require you stand guard anyway? Guard against what?"
"The castle is old and large, where one could easily get lost and end up in a dangerous area. Please don't question him or his orders, Caterina. It's for your own protection," Felix pleaded, unable to explain further. He knew not all vampires within the castle walls were trustworthy, and this human had to be kept safe at all costs.
"All right, I won't say a word, for both our sakes," Caterina said, not wanting her friend to get into trouble because of her. She gave the tall guard a smile and waited outside Marcus' doors.
Felix smiled down at her, thinking that this human knew nothing about the Volturi, yet she worried about him being punished by Master Marcus. He wished she knew the truth so he wouldn't have to hide his innate traits. For now, he would have to wait to see if Master Master revealed their secret. Hopefully, Masters Aro and Caius would not kill her for having that knowledge.
When Marcus opened the doors, he offered a welcoming smile to the woman who could prove to be his savior...and possibly more. He wondered if she thought differently of him, or was he still nothing more than her employer, the man forcing her to be here against her will. His need for her to love him was being superceded by his own growing realization that he was beginning to love her. He looked forward to their time together, having missed being close with someone for so very long.
Marcus allowed Caterina in and nodded to Felix. He then shut the doors after she had entered the ante-room. The fire was already blazing, Marcus knowing she loved its warmth.
Caterina had brought the book they'd last been reading. Her employer was almost done with it, and she was already looking forward to the next one. She sat on the sofa after handing Marcus the book.
"Did you have a satisfactory supper, my dear?" He asked, walking over to the sofa, carrying a carafe of red wine and a crystal goblet. He placed them on a small table next to the sofa. "Would you care for a drink?"
"I would like that, Marcus, thank you. Supper was amazing, as always. The chef is quite creative and there is always enough for seconds. I will miss his cooking when I go home."
Go home, she had said. Marcus was saddened that she still had the assumption he would release her, but what else could he expect. Each time she spoke with her father, he heard the joy in her voice, and he became jealous that her father inspired the happiness he wanted to bring about in her.
Caterina took her glass of wine, and made herself comfortable lying on her side by the fire. Marcus sat on the floor, using the sofa to brace his back. He extended his legs, crossing them at the ankle, and began reading.
While Marcus read, he experienced an ease he had not felt in so long. Was it her presence, or just the fact he had something to do that did not involve the other Volturi. He feared if he willfully forced the woman to stay, she would come to hate him. He needed her to be willing to stay of her own accord.
Caterina was feeling at odds with herself as well. She found herself admiring and liking Marcus more each day, but she missed her home. Even though she felt excitement at the idea of going back, she also felt some sadness at leaving the man who now seemed to be bending over backwards, in small ways, to please her.
While she listened to his deep voice reading the words from the book, Caterina had a brief image of her straddling his bare feet and climbing over his legs to his torso. These nights they spent together, Marcus dressed more casually in a pair of black slacks with a smoking jacket loosely tied closed. She imagined herself opening the satin jacket to kiss his neck while her hands caressed his hairless chest. Blinking her eyes, Caterina knew the wine was affecting her judgment.
When Marcus finished the book, he set it down on the floor beside him. He determined he would choose something more romantic for his next reading. He hoped to inspire something within Caterina that would bring her interest around to him.
Both moved to sit on the sofa, enjoying the last warmth of the dying fire. The wine was nearly gone, and Caterina was glad. It threatened her inhibitions, causing her mind to go places she needed to stay away from. She stifled a yawn, something not unnoticed by Marcus. He didn't want to let her go yet. His need for her was beyond sexual. He would be content to hold her in his arms while she slept, but he tamped down that thought, knowing he was jumping ahead of himself.
"You are sleepy, my dear. I can have Felix return you to your room." He hated parting from her, but he knew she would never agree to remain here in his chambers, let alone in his bed.
Caterina was tired, but was reluctant to leave. Marcus always had stories to tell that she found interesting. His knowledge of history was vast and unexplainable. He would often speak as if he had witnessed events firsthand. Realizing she couldn't keep her eyes open any longer, she said, "Yes, I think I'd better go, Marcus. I'm sorry I don't have the stamina you do. You never seem to tire." She stood and let Marcus guide her to the doors.
With one hand holding the small of her back, Marcus suddenly leaned in and kissed her. It was a gentle kiss that held much promise, but Caterina pulled away. She looked up at her employer, then took a step back, forcing Marcus to remove his hand from her.
"I have to go," she said, and turned to head for the doors. She pulled them open while Marcus watched, dumbfounded. "Felix, take me back to my room." Then she was gone.
Marcus now knew she was not ready for this. He wanted to kick himself for the rashness of his action, but what was the point. The damage to their burgeoning relationship had already been done. Stupid stupid! Now what was he going to do? He closed the doors and retreated to his bedroom.
Caterina arrived at her room, entering with Felix in tow, then shut the door hard. She fell back on her bed, hands over her eyes, and huffing loudly.
Felix sat beside her, seeing something had happened to upset his friend, but what. "So, are you going to tell me, or do I have to guess?" he asked grimly.
Caterina sighed, sat up and turned to the tall guard. "He kissed me, Felix. Marcus kissed me!"
"And?"
"I didn't come here to find love, Felix. I came to work off my father's debt, and when I'm done, I'm going home." He looked down at her hands, tightly clasped together and lying on her lap.
"Was it so bad, Caterina?"
"No, it wasn't bad. It was actually quite nice, but I am not staying here, Felix. I can't! I won't."
"Do you like Master Marcus?" the tall guard asked, wondering what, if anything, she felt for him.
"Yes, of course. After he flipped out on me, well, we got past that, and he's been very kind to me since."
Felix held in his laughter. So Master Marcus had "flipped out"? He'd love to have seen that. Marcus' expressions of any kind of emotion were few and far between.
Caterina looked up at Felix. "I like Marcus a lot, but I don't love him."
Felix understood. He also knew what that news would do to Master Marcus. "Oh," was all he could say. He saw Caterina try to remove the bracelet Marcus had given her, but he placed his hand on hers, stopping her.
"Caterina, do you really want to hurt him?" He knew Marcus would notice the bracelet's absence if she removed it.
Letting her fingers fall away from her wrist, she whispered, "No, of course not."
She looked down at his gift, remembering when he had given it to her. She had come to his chambers one evening, when he had asked her if she'd like to take a walk instead of reading. It was dark out, but Caterina inexplicably felt completely safe with Marcus at her side. They strolled the square which was now quiet. The marketplace was devoid of tourists and locals, the stalls empty of their wares. Tomorrow morning, it would be bustling again, but for now, all was calm.
He had stopped her when they came to the square's small fountain, and pulled a square velvet box from his jacket pocket. "I found this earlier today, and wanted to give it to you, Caterina."
She opened the box and gasped to see a gold bracelet set with several sapphires. "Oh, Marcus, it's too much. I can't..."
"Please accept it. A thank you for your company." He took out the bracelet and locked the clasp once he wound it around her wrist.
"It...it's beautiful, Marcus." She'd stood on tiptoe and kissed his cheek.
The memory was one that made her smile, but still, she did not want to stay here.
Leaning against Felix's shoulder, Caterina sighed. "Surely you have heard the rumours people spread about this place. How people enter...and never leave."
Felix frowned, knowing she could not see his face from her current position. "Do you believe those stories?" he asked, curious if she assumed the worst, which was the truth.
"I have never met anyone here, besides you, Marcus, and Demetri. There must be others. It's all very strange. All I know is I want to finish up my obligation and leave. I miss my home. I miss my father. I miss my own bed!"
Felix felt bad for Caterina, knowing Master Marcus wanted her to stay in order to break the witch's spell. But if she wasn't absolutely in love with him, what did it matter. "It will be all right."
Caterina sat up and sighed. "I'm hungry, my friend. Want to walk me to the kitchen? Just for a snack?"
"I thought you were sleepy," Felix said.
"How did you know that?" she asked. "You must have great hearing."
"It's late and I guessed." Felix stood, holding out his hand. "Come along then. I need to find Demetri anyway."
The pair left her room and walked the corridor to the kitchen.
"Want to have something with me?" she asked her friend while she rooted around the refrigerator.
Felix shook his head. "I'm not hungry," he replied.
"You never are," Caterina said with a wink and smile. "It must be those work outs. You probably drink a lot of protein shakes made up of green stuff."
Felix laughed, hoping he hadn't slipped up in any way that would clue her to their true nature. "Enjoy your evening, Caterina. I'll see you tomorrow." With that, the tall guard left her alone in the kitchen, since the short path from the kitchen to her bedroom was safe.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
The next day, Caterina had finished her chores and was in her room, reading through one book that was in Italian. It was a travel diary from someone who had visited North America, a place she'd love to visit one day. It detailed various locations in both Canada and America. She fantasized visiting places like New York City and Niagara Falls. Her musings were interrupted when she heard a knock on her door. She set the book down and went to open it, surprised to see Marcus standing before her.
"Good afternoon, Caterina. I was wondering if you would come to have a private supper with me in my rooms this evening. Something a little fancier than what you're used to when eating with the staff. Just the two of us."
"Oh...that would be nice, Marcus, but I don't have anything really nice to wear," Caterina said, wondering if he expected the experience to be like a date. He did seem to perk up when she expressed interest in his suggestion.
"I will get you something to wear, my dear. We have people who can help you." His eyes seemed to light up while talking with her.
Inside, Marcus was more than pleased. He wanted to offer her a fine meal, and perhaps coerce her to dance. He had a device ready with a few musical pieces he hoped would delight her enough to inspire her to want to dance with him. She hadn't mentioned the kiss, so maybe she was not as upset as he'd feared. "Heidi and Chelsea you haven't met yet. They will be around later this evening, so look for them. As for now, I will leave you alone until later."
"Thank you, Marcus. I look forward to it." Caterina felt excited at the invitation. It would be different than their usual get togethers. She closed the door and went into the bathroom to shower and dry her hair until the two women Marcus had mentioned arrived.
Hearing a knock on the door a few hours later, Caterina met Heidi and Chelsea for the first time. Both women were beautiful, with flawless skin and violet-coloured eyes. They introduced themselves, the woman named Chelsea holding up a dress bag, before unzipping it to reveal a lovely full-length blue gown made of lace and chiffon fabrics dotted with sparkles that looked like stars. Once Caterina had donned the dress, Heidi did her make-up while Chelsea later pulled her hair into a loose top knot.
Both women did what they could to encourage Caterina to consider Marcus' favour.
When they finished their work, they smiled at her. "You look perfect. Master Marcus will be so impressed," Chelsea said, Heidi nodding in agreement.
She was given a velvet box containing a pair of sapphire drop earrings that matched the bracelet Marcus had given her. "Are these from Marcus too?" she asked.
Both women looked at one another, then at Caterina, nodding. "He is being very generous with you because he likes you. You are aware of that, aren't you?" Heidi said.
Of course she was aware, but to what extent did he care for her, she wondered while she slipped on the earrings.
Lastly, Caterina stepped into matching blue heels, which fit perfectly. Obviously they had done very well in choosing the right size and style for her. She looked in the full length mirror that sat in the corner of the room, feeling like a princess in such expensive clothing.

"Is this really necessary?" she asked Heidi. "I will never have use for a dress like this at home."
"Master Marcus wants tonight to be special," Chelsea replied.
"Like we're on a date?" Caterina asked, looking behind her in the mirror. She saw Chelsea and Heidi glance at one another again, and knew she was right. This was a date.
There was a knock at the door. Chelsea opened it, stepping aside so Felix could enter the bedroom. She and Heidi gave Caterina encouraging smiles and quietly left.
Felix walked up to the human and took her hands in his. He spread her arms open and gazed at her. Then he spun her around. "You are a vision, Caterina. Master Marcus will think so as well. He's waiting now, so are you ready?" He let her hands go and stepped back, giving her a respectful bow.
"Oh, stop, Felix. You're embarrassing me, but thank you for the compliment. I guess we should leave now."
The guard looped her arm in his, and escorted Caterina to Marcus' rooms, knocking on arrival. Marcus answered and let in the human woman, while telling Felix he didn't have to wait tonight, that he would take his guest back to her room himself.
While Marcus was speaking with Felix, Caterina looked around the ante room, seeing a table beautifully set, complete with lit candles. A cart sat next to the table, where she saw several covered dishes and a bottle of champagne chilling.
She then turned to peek at her host. He was attired in what looked like old-fashioned dress, with black slacks, a white shirt with white ruffles around the neck, and a blue satin waistcoat. The ever-present pendant she'd noticed when she'd first arrived hung around his neck to sit on his chest atop the ruffles. He wore over the shirt a navy blue velvet coat with gold embroidery, making him appear like someone out of an old painting.
Caterina looked down at her gown, realizing anything less elegant would have been inappropriate. Marcus must have known her dress was blue, so dressed accordingly. She bent her head and smiled. Then for effect, she curtsied low before him.
Marcus took her hand and lifted her up from her position on the floor. He felt satisfaction in seeing her smile, cherishing each and every one of them. He had hoped this evening would please her, and he would be able to show her a different side of himself.
Marcus gazed at Caterina, appreciating the choice in dress made by Chelsea and Heidi. The woman looked positively ethereal in the star-lit gown. He noticed she was wearing the sapphire earrings he had ordered for her as well. He thought they suited her well.
He led her to the dining table he had ordered set up in the ante room. "I hope you enjoy tonight, Caterina. The chef has prepared several dishes just for the occasion. Champagne?" Marcus opened the bottle after he pulled her chair out and waited for her to get comfortable. Then he poured a glass of the sparkling liquid. He removed the lids from the food, showing Caterina her menu.
"Pepper Roast with baby potatoes, and green peas with mushrooms." He began to serve her, filling her plate while ignoring his own.
When he sat himself opposite his guest, she spoke. "It all smells so good. Will you be having any?"
"Not tonight. Forgive me, but my constitution means I can't always eat rich foods. But please, have as much as you wish."
Caterina nodded slowly, not surprised. Why, she didn't know. She cut a bit of the beef, and was amazed at the tenderness of the meat. "The chef is so talented. This is wonderful! It's so easy to overcook beef." She took a sip of the champagne, finding it perfectly chilled.
While she ate. the pair discussed the history of the city of Volterra, including how the Volturi came to be here in the first place. By the time she had indulged in more champagne and her dessert of tiramisu, Caterina was feeling both full and in a relaxed humour.
Marcus mentioned that he had found some music, turning on his laptop. He set the saved file he hoped she would be willing to dance to with him. "Would you make me the happiest of men and do me the honour?" He held out his hand to her, feeling her warm hand being placed on his open palm. Leading her to the center of the room, they waited for the music to begin.
"I'm not an expert dancer, Marcus, so you will have to lead well," Caterina cautioned, looking up at the taller man.
"Rest easy, my dear. I'm a long-time expert," he replied, his free arm wrapping around her.
When the music began, Marcus spun Caterina around the room, twirling her beneath his arm, then drawing her against him. He so wanted to kiss her at that moment, but feared her pulling away from him as she had before. They danced as the music carried both from the lives they lived apart to this moment together. Her warmth seeped into his flesh through the fabric of his coat, so sensitive to their physical differences as he was.
Caterina looked up into Marcus' eyes, feeling drawn to him. Her lips parted, her top teeth biting gently into her lower lip. She leaned into his cool body, her heart beating faster.
Marcus not only heard but felt each beat against his chest. He took a gamble and lowered his head, then pressed his lips gently on hers. When she did not pull back, he pressed harder, his lips parting. He tasted her, his arms wrapping more tightly around her trim body. When he finally released her, Marcus stepped back.
"I am sorry, Caterina." He did not continue when two fingers rested on his mouth, silencing him.
"It's alright, Marcus. I'm not offended." She held her body close to his, happy when she felt his arms encircle her, again pulling her against him. His mouth captured hers, drawing in her breath through parted lips.
They continued dancing for almost an hour while talking and laughing together. The music finally stopped, leaving Marcus and Caterina in the middle of the room, staring at one another in silence. That is, until Marcus pulled her to him, embracing her in his arms. He gave her a chaste kiss in her forehead, then when she moved her cheek to his, he lowered his head to kiss her neck with a meaning that was not so chaste. At last, his lips moved to hers once more.
Caterina sighed, the pleasure of his kiss stronger than she had ever felt with anyone, not that there had been that many men in her life.
She lay her head against his chest. "Thank you for this evening," she murmured against his coat. She felt she had to end this now. "I had so much fun. But it is late, and I am a bit tired."
"Of course. Let me return you to your room." Marcus held Caterina's hand and led her from his chambers to her room. He kissed her hand before watching her open her door and turn to look up at him.
"Again, thank you. I had a truly marvelous time, Marcus. I'll see you tomorrow." She stepped back and shut her door.
Marcus felt had his heart been able to beat, it would have been beating fast and hard. Not in centuries had he felt so happy to be with one person. He returned to his rooms, hoping she felt as he did.
Once Caterina had undressed and showered, she hung the beautiful gown up in the wardrobe, and put on her nightgown. She then climbed into bed. A smile unconsciously formed on her face when she thought about the evening. The smile vanished when she considered what she was falling into.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
It was days later when Caterina was wiping down Marcus' desk and she looked out to the window to see it was snowing. She watched as the large flakes stuck to the grass in the garden. Excited, she quickly finished cleaning up Marcus' room, and after putting away her cleaning supplies, Caterina ran to get her coat to go out into the garden.
Marcus had returned to his room shortly after, and heard sounds of laughter coming from outside, and the garden below. He looked out the window to see Caterina spinning around, her arms wide as she danced in the falling snow. He smiled to himself, and decided to join her. Taking a coat for effect from his wardrobe, he strode the corridor to the garden door and went outside.
Caterina saw Marcus and waved him over. "Marcus, come join me. Isn't it beautiful?"
Marcus agreed in his mind, but he felt it was she who was beautiful, her cheeks pink and eyes shining with sheer joy.
"Have you ever had a snowball fight?" she asked him, attempting to sound innocent. She bent to gather snow in her hands, forming a ball.
When Marcus gave her a questioning look, he felt the unexpected smack of cold snow on his face. His entire body was as cold as the white stuff, but Caterina didn't know that. Marcus did something he had never done before in his existence. He bent down to gather snow in his hands and formed a snowball. He turned to Caterina just as another snowball hit him on the shoulder. He threw his at her, grinning when it hit her on the chest. Her ensuing laughter was like music to his ears.
They played like this for a while before the snow started coming down harder, and Marcus was afraid Caterina would become too chilled. He ordered her inside, and took her to the kitchen for some hot tea. She practically glowed from within while she thanked him for the fun while sipping her tea. He had never seen her so happy, and he hoped she felt it was due to his presence in her life.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
Days later, Caterina was cleaning in Marcus' rooms. Once she had finished up, she went up to his desk where Marcus was sitting and working on some papers.
"Marcus, may I call Papa before I leave?" she asked hesitantly.
"Of course, my dear." He fetched the phone from his desk drawer and handed it to her. He went to sit on the sofa to wait for her to finish.
Caterina went to sit on the sofa and dialed her home number. Hearing the line pick up, she said, "Hello, Papa! Oh, Signora Rossi. What? Wait, what did you say? Is he badly off? I'll try. Thank you for staying with him. Good bye." She handed Marcus the phone, a frantic look on her face.
Marcus stood, taking her hands in his. "What is it, Caterina? Is something wrong?"
"It's Papa. He's sick. He had been outside too long in the snow trying to get the last of the seasonal crop harvested and he caught a bad cold. One of our neighbors, Signora Rossi, went to take him some eggs from her hens and found him very ill. She said she has been caring for him, but he's asking for me. Please, please, Marcus, may I go home to take care of him?"
Marcus didn't want to let her leave him, but the look in her eyes compelled him to. She would be too worried if he forced her to stay. What would she feel for him if her father died. "Felix can drive you home, my dear."
"Thank you, Marcus," she replied with gratitude in her voice.
"Will you be coming back?" Marcus asked, but she was gone without having heard the question. He hoped she would return, but he determined that if she did not, he would let her know he was allowing her to stay home for good. He felt she had served her time and cleared her father's debt. His love for her enabled him to free her even as he sacrificed his own hopes for redemption.
Felix came to his friend's room to find her packed and waiting. Fortunately, most of the snow had melted by now, and the road was clear at least.
Caterina begged Felix to go faster, but he told her, "There are people in the road, my friend. Don't worry. I will get you home as quickly as possible."
Once they reached her house, pulling into the driveway, she jumped out of the car and headed for the front door. When she opened the door, Felix set her bags just inside the entrance. Caterina thanked him, giving him a quick hug. Once he saw she had safely entered the house, he drove away.
"Papa! Papa, I'm home!" she shouted, dropping her coat on a nearby chair.
"Shhh, child, he's sleeping," an older woman whispered, appearing from the kitchen.
"Signora Rossi, how is he?"
"He's better, my dear." She explained what the doctor had said, and gave Caterina instructions for the medicine she was to give her father. "Now you get re-settled. Since you're here, I'll leave, but do call me if you need anything."
"Thank you, Signora Rossi, for everything," Caterina said, letting the woman out.
She went to her father's bedroom to see him lying in bed, sleeping peacefully. She felt his forehead, finding it only slightly warm to the touch. She took the small pitcher of water to the kitchen to refill it with fresh water, and waited for him to wake up.
When he did awaken, he was overjoyed to see his daughter sitting on a chair next to the bed.
"Caterina, daughter, you've returned," he said, taking ahold of her hands.
"Yes, Papa. Marcus let me leave when I found out from Signora Rossi you were sick. I'm home to take care of you."
And she did, making him porridge for breakfast and soup for later in the day. She told him all about her time at the castle, and how things had slowly changed between her and Marcus. She had left so quickly, she had forgotten the dress, shoes, and jewelry he had given her.
"Have you feelings for the man, daughter?"
"I don't know, Papa. I know I care about him, and he was kinder to me the longer I was there. It changed things, you understand."
"Caterina, Guiseppe had been here, asking about you. He was not happy that you were staying at the castle. I only hoped he didn't make trouble for you."
"I never saw him, Papa. I pray he does not go there. The people who live there are...they're strange. Not that I was afraid of them, but there is something...well, I hope he stays away. I'm home now, so he has no reason to go there." She patted her father's hand and rose from the chair. "I'm going to get you some soup now."
While she ladled the hot meal into a bowl, Caterina wondered if she should warn Marcus. No, Guiseppe would not be so foolish, surely not.
After a few days of care, Mario Cassiani recovered from his illness and was eager to be up and about. He pulled himself out of bed and walked to the kitchen. Still a bit weak, he took his time and entered the kitchen to see Caterina cutting up vegetables for supper.
When Caterina saw her father, she frowned. "Papa, you need to stay in bed..."
"Child, I am fine and going crazy. You'll see. I'll take a quick shower and dress. By the way, Guiseppe doesn't know you're home. He wanted to go to the castle to retrieve you. If he goes there with others, who knows what will happen. Perhaps you should call him."
Setting down the knife, Caterina looked at her father. "I'm not ready to talk with Guiseppe, Papa. Did he say he would go there?"
"Call him, Caterina."
Sighing, she picked up the receiver and dialed his number. When he answered, she said, "Guiseppe, this is Caterina, I..." A man's voice spoke.
"Caterina, this is Guiseppe's father. He is on his way to the Palazzo dei Priori with some of the other villagers. They're planning to..."
"No! They can't do that!" Hanging up, she turned to her father.
"Papa, that fool is on his way to the castle. I have to stop him. They might hurt Marcus."
"Take the truck. The back way is faster on the county road."
"Yes, yes, and it leads to the garden gate behind the castle. I can get in through the garden gate, and find Marcus without the crowd seeing me." She gave her father a kiss and turned to leave. "I'll be back as soon as I can, Papa."
"Be careful, Caterina," her father called out as she left the house.
OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO
A small group of male villagers, led by Guiseppe, headed for the castle. Armed with rifles, guns, even farm equipment, they followed the man who was determinded to bring Caterina home with him, even if it meant killing the residents of the castle.
Driving over the speed limit, Caterina mumbled the entire way. "Idiots! How can you follow a man like Guiseppe. Stupid!"
When she came to the back gate that led to the garden, she prayed it wasn't locked, and sighed in relief when the gate swung open. She ran into the castle through the side door and headed to Marcus' rooms.
On arrival, she went from the ante-room to the bedroom and didn't find him. She left his rooms and was heading down the main corridor, when she heard shouting and the sounds of gunfire. In the large audience hall she rarely saw, she noticed a small crowd of men fighting what she assumed were Marcus' family. Then she saw Marcus himself, fighting Guiseppe.
Guiseppe was holding an axe. He aimed for Marcus' neck, swinging it hard until it hit flesh. The impact left cracks on Marcus' neck, but the vampire was able to knock aside the axe and grabbed the human by the throat. He opened his mouth and leaned in to bite Guiseppe in the throat, his teeth tearing into the warm flesh.
Caterina saw Guiseppe attack Marcus, shouted "No!", then gasped loud enough for Marcus to hear. He turned around to face the woman he loved, knowing she was finally seeing him for the monster he was. Blood was smeared on his mouth, and he let his human attacker fall to the floor.
Her eyes wide, Caterina ran to Marcus, kneeling beside him. "Are you hurt? Marcus, are you hurt in any way?"
"I'm sorry," he said to the young woman next to him. I'm fine, but I..." He felt warm arms move around him, hugging him ever as she searched him for wounds.
"Oh, Marcus, when I heard what was going on, I had to stop Guiseppe." She looked at the man who was her captor, her employer, her admirer. "I had to...I love you, Marcus. No matter what has happened, I do love you. I was so afraid you'd be hurt."
Standing, Marcus pulled Caterina up off the floor. "You see me for what I am, my dear heart. A killer. A vampire." He wiped his mouth with his sleeve while Caterina only stared at him. She noticed his eyes, now red, but how.
"I don't care." She meant it. If he was really a vampire, an honest to goodness creature of legend, she didn't care. He was safe. She looked around her, and saw several bodies lying in the room. She should be mourning them, but it was their choice to follow that brute Guiseppe. The other Volturi, a few she knew, others she didn't, stood around as if waiting for orders.
Caterina had seen the blood on Marcus' lips as it dripped down his chin. What he had told her was true. He really was a vampire, and he had killed Guiseppe. She saw two men walk down the steps leading from three throne-like chairs.
Just then, a bright light blazed briefly in the center of the room, before revealing a beautiful woman standing in the middle of the audience hall.
Aro and Caius frowned at the sudden intrusion, but Marcus recognized her instantly.
"Marcus dei Volturi, you fulfilled the requirement of your redemption," the witch said. She seemingly floated over to Marcus and Caterina. "Child, you love this man?"
Gazing at the beautiful woman, she frowned. "Of course I do. With all my heart." She felt Marcus' holding her hand tightly.
"Then Marcus dei Volturi, you may choose to regain your humanity, and be mortal again. Or you may remain a vampire, and change your beloved to become an immortal like you."
Marcus held Caterina by the shoulders as he gazed into her warm brown eyes. "It means aging. But it also means a home, family, children. Things you won't have here if you're a vampire." He gave Caterina a kiss, and sought the answer to his question in her eyes.
"No children?" If Marcus was letting her choose, the answer was simple. "Marcus, I want to be with you, in my world, in my life. We can live together and watch our family grow while we grow old, together."
Marcus glanced over at Aro and Caius. Aro knew Marcus hadn't been happy, but Caterina had changed that. He nodded at his brother.
The witch held her hands up and began to chant a spell. Marcus felt a sudden and excruciating pain in his entire body, and fell to the floor.
Caterina started to go to him, but Felix held her by the arms, saying, "Wait. This is something Master Marcus has to endure. Let's see what happens."
Marcus writhed on the floor, pain written on his face while he tried not to scream.
Caterina struggled against Felix's grip on her arms. "Let me go!" she demanded. Reluctantly, Felix complied, letting her loose. Once free, she ran to Marcus, dropping down next to him.
"Marcus, I'm here with you, my love. Please don't leave me now." She held his hand with both of hers, squeezing tightly. She was tempted to pull back when she saw a curtain of light form around Marcus, but she decided to hold on. With tears in her eyes, Caterina glanced up at the witch, who only smiled down at the pair.
When the glow receded, Marcus caught his breath. The pain had finally stopped. Caterina helped him to sit up, checking him over, but seeing no physical damage. She did notice the changes in his body immediately however.
"Marcus, your eyes, they're brown." She realized the hand she still held was warm to the touch. She reached out and caressed his cheek to find it was also warm. They were not pale either, but pick with the flush of blood in his veins. "If you're physical changes mean anything, you...you're human. It worked." She wiped the tears from her face and helped Marcus up off the floor, the pair turning to one another and hugging each other in joy.
Marcus cupped Caterina's cheek and kissed her deeply. He felt different and knew he was no longer a vampire. He was human again, after so many hundreds of years and it felt more than strange. He could feel his heart beating in his chest, the sensation foreign to him.
A bright light filled the room, and the witch vanished.
Caius ordered the guards to clean up the room and dispose of the bodies. He had some damage control to work on, and began that task.
Aro stood off to the side, but took several steps towards Marcus, placing his hand on the taller vampire's shoulder. "You will always be my brother...our brother. You may still stay here with Caterina. Or you may leave to travel the world. We leave that up to you both." When he saw the surprise on Marcus' face, he huffed. "I know, I know, the rules, but I can make exceptions when I want. And I'm making an exception now. I don't expect you will tell anyone about us, and as your mate, I can assume Caterina won't either." He smiled when he saw her shake her head vigorously.
"Aro, we will let you know. If we choose to leave and return later, it's good to know we will be welcome." He turned to his mate, for that was what she was now. "We will marry the old fashioned way, if that makes you happy, my love."
"Ah, a wedding. I do love weddings, so you must have it here at the castle," Aro said with excitement.
Caterina responded with a nod of acknowledgement, grateful for their attitude and now the offer of a wedding. This was Marcus' home and she didn't mind it becoming hers. She would be able to visit her father, who would not have to pay for the cost of her wedding. When she had mentioned that to Marcus, his eyes glowed with happiness as he laughed pleasantly.
Caterina decided as long as her human guests were guaranteed their safety, why not have it here. Perhaps it would help dispel the nasty rumours if her family and friends were allowed to attend. They would see there was nothing to fear from the castle's residents after all.
Later, Marcus led his bride-to-be out to the garden, where they stood in the gazebo, Caterina's hands holding onto Marcus' arm. He noticed she seemed relaxed, which shocked him the most, and not freaking out about what she had seen today.
"You truly surprised me, my dear. I never imagined you to be so strong, and here I was so worried about you." Marcus leaned over to give his mate a kiss on her forehead.
Caterina smiled, and nodded, replying, "I never imagined I would have to be. You don't have any other secrets, do you?"
"No, my heart, you know everything. From now on, I am only a mortal man who loves you." Marcus leaned into Caterina and kissed her deeply, his arms around her securely. Her warmth was less noticeable now that they were the same body temperature. "I love you," he said with emotion in his voice.
"And I love you, Marcus, for always." Caterina hugged her husband-to-be tightly, knowing their life together would never be boring.
A/N : Sorry it took so long to finish this particular story. Lately, I just haven't felt much like writing. I'll go back over it later to fix any errors. Thanks for your patience.
