#I ship sheik link so hard

My headcanon is that every Link and every Zelda falls in love. But it gets a little more complicated than that because I don't think they get together every time. So... Here is how I would justify every Zelink in the Legend of Zelda franchise:
(please note that I'm not saying other ships aren't cool. I personally like a lot of them.)
Skyward Sword: This one is probably as canon as Zelink has gotten so far. I don't know anyone that says that they don't have feelings for each other. These two probably founded Hyrule together. Maybe as a kingdom, maybe just as a small village below the clouds. Either way, the Royal Family traces their lineage back to this couple.
Minish Cap: This Zelink is very cute. I think they dated, and maybe even married. From what I understand about the timeline, though, this Link abandons Hyrule and lives the rest of his life cursed by the mind-shattering properties of the Four Sword. So, it was a relationship for a while, but they didn't grow old together.
Four Swords: There actually isn't a lot of information about this Zelda, but I like to think that they got together after Link saves her. They're cute.
Ocarina of Time: The way Zelda looks at Link at the end of the game is full of remorse. She doesn't want to send Link away from her, but she knows it's the right thing to do for his sake and Hyrule's. Also, the way Sheik looks at Link can't go unnoticed. That ninja isn't good at hiding his feelings.
Majora's Mask: The same as Ocarina of Time, but it's much more brief. I don't think Link ever returns to Hyrule Castle, but it's possible. It's more likely that he founded Ordon with Malon. That means that Malon and Link end up together, but Link's true love was the princess he saved in another time.
Twilight Princess: Zelda and Link barely talk in the game, and when they interact, it's only because Midna put them together. But with Midna out of the picture, I think they would still bond. Ilia gets friendzoned. Sorry.
Four Swords Adventures: I think I'll have to put this one with Four Swords as well. These games are a little weird in that the Links are so affected by the Four Sword that it's hard to picture them in a situation without it. If anyone else has thoughts on this Zelink, please lmk.
Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass: Tetra and Link get together and found New Hyrule. This one is pretty self explanatory and difficult to argue against. Very cute and I love it.
Spirit Tracks: They were made for each other. They have so much of a connection because of their adventure together. Whether Link becomes an adventurer or an engineer, I think the princess has feelings for the Hero of Spirit.
A Link to the Past/Link's Awakening/Oracles: The cryptic uncle wants you to know that Zelda is your responsibility. Now that we've covered that, I think Link would have been with Zelda if it weren't for Marin. After Koholint, I don't think he really has it in him to have a relationship with anyone.
A Link Between Worlds/Tri Force Heroes: I think that after saving Hytopia, Link returns to Hyrule and asks for Zelda's hand. There's no reason why not to, and I don't think Link would have wanted to stay in Hytopia for the rest of his life. As cool as it is, it's a vacation spot. And Styla isn't the princess for Link.
Hyrule Fantasy/Adventure of Link: Two Zeldas, one Link. This one's kind of weird, but I think he'd rather be with the Zelda from his first adventure. Zelda the First only kisses him as a reward, probably the only reward she can give.
Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom: I mean, they live together. They hugged at the end of both games. What else do you want me to say?

CATCH UP 。*・♡;
tagged by @terendelev , fellow twins enjoyer 🍻
LAST SONG: "The End" by the Doors
CURRENTLY WATCHING: I'm partway through the season 1 finale of Made in Abyss bc my soul was crushed too hard to continue.
THREE SHIPS: rn it's D/Rogier. Eowyn/Faramir has been a constant. Idk if I have a third one I'm terribly invested in...
FAVORITE COLOR: green
CURRENTLY CONSUMING: Jellybeans bc its bean seasons
FIRST SHIP: Link/Sheik in OoT. When it'd just come out I hadn't gotten to the adult link part yet but knew about Sheik from the art in the guidebook my mom had and I thought they were a guy. I read loads of fic about them on library of nintendo lol
PLACE OF BIRTH: The dirty south
CURRENT LOCATION: Elsewhere
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Abattoiresque
LAST MOVIE: Damn I don't remember. I think Skinamarink back in October??
CURRENTLY WORKING ON: A postgame Elden Ring AU wherein the Tarnished chooses the Duskborn ending. Fia birthed a 'came back wrong' Godwyn baby and is basically the real power behind the Elden Lord. The world is full of the living dead and no one dies, they just become TWLID instead. Rogier immensely regrets helping her achieve this but is too mired in his own depression to do anything about it. Then he teams up with a very pissed off Devin, who, after Gurranq's death, joined up with Ranni so they could both achieve their singular common goal of ending Fia's reign. It's insane but I'm having fun...
tagging @no-braincells-inc @tarnussy @rococospade @c3rnunnos or whoever else would enjoy to do this

My Sheik spread dedicated to how much I love him! Also a little celebration post for getting to be a contributor in the Sheik zine (Harp in the Shadows) ^_^ Ngl this is just a massive ramble about Sheik lmao I did not plan what I was gonna say beforehand
The sticker is from MaridoodlesShop on Etsy! The Sheik letters are from a halloween sticker pack I found on clearance at Michaels
Typed text below! (plus a little extra writing)
My second favorite character right behind the Hero of Time. Sheik is the reason why I always knew I'd be a Zelda fan, and probably why OOT is my favorite Zelda game. My first introduction to him was in Super Smash Bros Brawl where he was my main. He was so well balanced in that game, I loved fighting with him. However, in Ultimate, they increased his speed and decreased his attack, so playing with him is so hard. Instead I became a Zelda (ALTTP/ALBW) main (also sometimes BOTW Link). One last thing about Brawl Sheik is that his design was updated for if he were in Twilight Princess which I absolutely love. When I got reintroduced to Sheik in Ocarina, he just became an incredible character in my eyes. The way Sheik and Link are able to communicate with just music is incredible. They share some of the most beautiful moments I've ever seen. Even though the music lasts for 30 seconds max, they have become some of my favorite tunes. I know others agree because they wrote full compositions for those songs. The intimacy between Link and Sheik is the reason why I do like OOT Zelink (more specifically Shink than Zelink bc I didn't know the ship name at that time lmao), but only in the adult timeline and if Zelda still treasures Sheik. I absolutely hated the manga implying Sheik was a personality due to a spell and that she will never be Sheik again. Sheik is so passionate about Impa's teachings and the Sheikah culture that no way in hell would Zelda toss that away. Zelda and Sheik are one, it just is up to Zelda for how she will present herself. I believe I also really love Sheik as this is a way for Zelda to express herself and live outside of being the princess. I have so much love for Ocarina of Time and Sheik, they defined the future of the TLOZ franchise especially with gender presentation. Sheik was definitely the shift of making the Zelda games devoid of hyper masculinity or femininity. All in all, Sheik is an amazing character who I absolutely love. I hope to see influences of him in upcoming games.
This is extra not written down but I'm also just such a fan of all the queer Sheik headcanons. Trans Sheik, genderfluid Sheik/Zelda, cis male Sheik who is a different character than Zelda, etc. I especially love characters like him and Tetra where Zelda just gets to live a life outside of the pressures of being the princess and really get to explore who she is. Those characters really just show SO much personality in Zelda and it makes me so happy. Sheik's such an important character to me I even commissioned my friend to crochet a little doll of him for me :,). He's also just a big inspiration for me beginning to journal and write as I get to express my feelings on certain topics, and he was the biggest topic I always want to talk about. So excited to be a part of the Sheik zine and I can't wait to share what I have been working on once the zine releases!

hello! ive been a fan of your shink work for a long time and i was wondering if you were going to continue sanctuary? im really sorry to bother you like this but i will patiently wait forever
thank you for this lovely message, anon! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed my shink work 🥺 you’re not bothering me AT ALL!!!
Sanctuary is a project I’ve really struggled to get back into. But I have a list of projects I want to finish and Sanctuary is at the top of it. I’ve written a little bit more since the last update, but not a full chapter’s worth.
Honestly, I think I’ve been feeling a bit uninspired because it seems the ship is mostly dead. In fact, when I’m in the “shink” or “link/sheik” tags these days on tumblr or ao3, I’ve been noticing it’s actually just zelink in disguise.
So I guess it’s been hard for me to get back into writing a male sheik/link AU piece because it feels like everyone has moved on. I get really inspired by seeing other creators making stuff for the ship so it’s been kinda hard to ignite that spark since.
This message does help a bit with that spark, so thank you! 🤧 And if the male!sheik community is still out there and has simply moved to a different place that I’m unaware of because I’m an old fart, please let me know! I miss seeing and reading the amazing shink content that seemed more prevalent in like 2014-2016ish. That rarepair life is tough 😮‍💨

Tagged by @arkon-z !!! Thank you!!
3 ships: Kohga and Sooga, OBVIOUSLY. They got me with the carefree and goofy but powerful leader and his fiercely stoic, loyal, and competent second in command. Come on, Master “except for me of course!” Kohga refusing to leave Sooga even after they just watched Astor pull the life out of all his other soldiers. Sooga’s “Then in that case, I’ll protect you even if it costs me my life.” COME ON!!!!!!
Revalink. Look, they work so well together. They complement each other. They have so much in common. They don’t know that about each other. They would change each other for the better. There is no way Revali just hates Link or is just jealous of him, he would NOT be out there trying So hard to get Link to acknowledge him.
We’ll do one non-zelda ship. As a treat.
Fuck it. It’s Bowuigi. They GOT ME okay, I like big monsters with tiny soft men!!!!!
First ship: Fuck. Good question. I remember kinda liking OoT link and zelda/link and sheik when I played as a kid??? It was mostly as friends, though. I wasn’t super into shipping when I was a kid. I think i shipped two of those creatures in drawn to life, though lmao
Last song: idk why but i havent listened to any music in daysss. all i can think of is Spillways
Last movie: Oh my god.........it was morbius
Currently reading: It has been a hot minute since ive read a real book 💀 the current fics im reading, though, are @/zariyari’s ghiralink fic Now Get Us Out of Here which i am enjoying a lot ehehe. I’m also in the middle of a Majima/Kiryu one. I’m eagerly awaiting more to @/ginneke’s revalink fic A Seed of Song, and, god damn it, soon I’m gonna start @/heleentje’s Moonlight fic.
Also special mentions to @/ghirahimbo’s fics Blind, But Now and Pinesong which i’ve been meaning to read forever now
Currently watching: I’m waiting for all my current favorite shows to make new episodes T__T so right now im trying to finally finish the new JoJo season
Currently consuming: A delicious udon dish
Tagging (if you feel like it, no pressure!!): I’ve not done one of these on this account before :0 so im not sure who likes participating in these types of things. But @jaybirdsdelight @insanespiders @theobergmynt @ginneke @heleentje @zariyari @chaozrael if any of yall would like to!

You ship the oot Zelink too???
Oh you don’t know the half of it.
Story time!
Waaaay back in the day when the only zelda content I had consumed was playable Link in Mario kart and the zelda levels in NES remix, my dad realized I was garnering quite the interest in this Legend of Zelda thing.
So, next time we went to the library, he grabbed the oracle of seasons manga, thinking I’d like it. (He was right XD) I was embarrassed at first that he’d noticed so easily, and it was hard for me to get the hang of reading backwards, but once I did, I was caught hook line and sinker. I reread that manga so many times I think it’s permanently etched into my brain a bit, and the next time we went to the library I grabbed what was apparently the first in the manga series, Ocarina of Time.
And that’s when I got pulled into oot zelink whohoHOA.
He cared for her so much!! They spend the day together as kids and he goes to save her later and even when she was Sheik a part of him knew who it was I think and then they go through the desert temple together and they go in for the hug and then GANONDORF KIDNAPS HER and Link goes after him and then they defeat him BUT SHE SENDS HIM BACK but then he goes to the castle and she turns and looks at him and dgghksajsjgdghshk the whole thing made my brain implode a bit.
It was because of that that ocarina of time (3D) was my first zelda game, notably marking itself as one of the few video game endings that has actually made me cry (still does). And while I do like Malon/Link as a couple, (And with TP I honestly think it’s got a little more canon-ness to it), oot zelink is just a ship I’ll always love no matter what

🕹️🗡️🧚😤 :D
:D
🕹️(What's the first Zelda game you ever played?)
Breath of the Wild! A friend recommended it to me, and I fell into LU pretty quickly after it.
🗡️ (Favorite version of Link)
This one is hard ghdsh botw Link is obviously up there as my first loz game. I love tp Link's story with all the people and support he had through his whole adventure. And of course oot/mm Link is a classic fav
🧚(Favorite Zelda companion)
I'm not as familiar with all the companions... I do like Midna's arc and character in tp, so probably her? Sheik is also very cool for obvious reasons, but im not sure how much he counts as a companion versus side character?
😤(Any Zelda-related pet peeves)
Hmm not really? I've got a few small pet peeves on fandom interpretation/treatment of some characters, have opinions on ships, etc. etc. Nothing super out there that isn't just part of being active with a fandom.

My own Links meeting AU’s main characterizing focus is what the Links do after they’re done being heroes, and as someone who hasn’t played all the games it’s hard to pinpoint some of them but I also think it would be neat to talk to other people about.
So far I have that HW Link rose to the rank of general and is still in the military,
SkSw Link is the newly first king of Hyrule and that was not his fault and he’s trying his best,
OoT Link fades into obscurity and started working at LonLon ranch but sometimes is recruited by Queen Zelda/ King Sheik to help take out monsters and stuff,
WW Link co-captains Tetras ship and is a fully fledged pirate but by the time they find new Hyrule they’ve accepted that they’re going to be the new king and queen and are enjoying being pirates for as long as they can,
TP Link is a wandering monster hunter that kills things for money and is also heavily rumored to be an unnatural shadowy wolf,
BotW Link is a bit of a hermit who lives out in nature with his Zelda and after revolutionizing the potion making industry, they travel for elixir ingredients and sell them to help people,
and last of all AoC Link is courting his Zelda and kind of training to become king and he’s only partially on board with this.
If anyone has any more ideas for them I would love to talk about it! (Preferably through asks or this posts comments/ reblogs)

Trill AU: Fi’s Hosts
Link's first life was Ashei.  She was brusk, but quiet.  She was a fierce warrior, but also strategic.  As their first host, Fi didn't bring much personality to the picture, but Ashei was honored to be the founding personality.
Fi's second host is a combo of the Fierce Deity and Skeleton Link that's OoT Link from Twilight Princess.  He doesn't have a name yet, so I'm calling him Oni  (Ehh) until I think of something better yet still obvious.  Anyway, he's a badass and everyone agrees that he was the GOAT.  During this host's life, he fell in love with Sheik, who was also a badass and bonded to Hylia.  They were a power couple and their love is legendary.
Fi's third host was Ravio.  Ravio was more of a trickster God type dude, but he was charismatic and did everything with gusto, even if that was running away (which he admittedly did do often, but he did it with style, so no one cares, right?).  During this life he met Tetra, who was Hylia's current host.  They fell for each other hard, and decided "Screw it!  Let's get banished and be together forever!  (Or until the end of this life when we can't find hosts for our symbionts because banished."  They were banished from the Trill homeworld, and traveled the galaxy for a while, before finding other banished Trills.  They formed their own little society on a small moon, building a city inside and above a waterfall.  The homeworld super didn't like that, and when they found out, they came after them.  The city held for a while thanks to the defense grid that Tetra and Ravio installed, but then Ravio vanished, and three days later, the defense grid fell.
Fi woke up in their fourth host, Pipin, on a mining colony on an out-of-the-way asteroid.  Not only did they have no idea how they got there, but Pipit was unprepared to handle having a symbiont, especially after such traumatic goings on.  Pipit was a hot mess with memory problems, but eventually managed to get off the asteroid.  He had no idea where he was going and ended up passed around from rag-tag crew to rag-tag crew until someone "maybe knew a Trill guy" and dropped him off at a monastery.
There, a monk named Makar took him in.  Makar had taken a vow of silence, and communicated mostly by playing the cello.  Makar tried to sooth him and nurse him back to health, but Pipit was flagging.  When he was on death's door, he grabbed Makar's arm and frantically said that he was joined.  Makar believed in the sanctity of life and took the symbiont himself.  During his time with Fi, he sorted through a lot of the memories that were jumbled together and made little sense.  He did a lot of mediation and came up with a bunch of mental coping mechanisms.  He also made peace that he would be Fi's final host.
That is, until some raiders showed up.  Makar made them a big meal, because he was peaceful and welcoming. He offered them whatever he had, even though the raiders were going to take it anyway.  With them was an Orion woman, who was boggled by the cello playing and by...Makar's whole shtick.  He showed her his art and his music.  He was coughing really bad by then, and she asked, “What, are you gonna die all alone here on this moon?” and he shrugged, and she scowled.  The raiders took everything when they left, including all his art.  Three weeks later, she shows back up alone in a ship she bought with his art.  She announced that she was kidnapping him, and then dropped him off on Orion, because she knew there were some Trills there.  Makar lived out the rest of his life there.
Fi's next host was Illia, who lived in Terry Town on Orion in the same neighborhood as Makar.  They spent a lot of time together leading up to Makar's death, because Makar wanted to impress upon her how messed up Fi was.  Illia bonded with the symbiont anyway and had horrible memory seep.  She never really left Orion because it was so bad, but she gradually used the methods Makar had invented to make it bearable.
After that was Anju, who was removed enough and had enough practice that the memory seep was better.  She was a geologist and assisted with several terraforming projects.
And then there was Link.

Another Age of Calamity 2
*Sometime after the battle to rescue the champions, in a secure location somewhere in Akkala Citadel …*
BotW Zelda: I can’t believe this is all really happening. Not only did we save all the champions and recover the divine beasts, but now I get to speak with one of my ancestors face to face!
Smash Zelda: Believe it girl! It’s all real.
Smash Zelda: I mean *cough* by deciding to interfere we may have inadvertently created yet another offshoot timeline.
Smash Zelda: But it’s all definitely REAL.
BotW Zelda: Um, this is a bit awkward, but can I ask who this woman is upon whose lap you are sitting?
Smash Zelda: Oh this is my girl, Eve! Yes, I know what you’re thinking, she is technically Dark Samus but I promise she’s completely harmless.
BotW Zelda: Forgive my apprehension, it’s just that in our legends “dark” copies of heroes tend to be creations of Ganon himself.
Smash Zelda: No, I get it. But I swear there’s nothing to be afraid of. She may come off as intense, but she’s actually a complete sweetheart. Isn’t that right, honey?
Eve: If anyone here harms one hair on your head I swear I will raze this kingdom to the ground until they are found and I can personally eviscerate their still-living body before their eyes.
Smash Zelda: D'aawww! <3
BotW Zelda: Yes … um, very … sweet?
——————–
*Meanwhile, in the Citadel’s war room …*
Impa: It’s great that we managed to thwart the Calamity’s attempt to overtake the Divine Beasts, but that’s far from the end of our problems.
Urbosa: Indeed, the enemy still has the guardians under their control, and what seems like a neverending swarm of monsters.
Impa: But our biggest problem is the meddling of the Yiga clan. They’re numerous and also tricky. It’s difficult to know what they’re planning.
Marth: Don’t worry guys, we already have our best spy on the case.
*Transition to the Yiga hideout, where Sheik is disguised in Yiga gear amongst a few other Yiga footsoldiers.*
Sheik (thinking): Alright, where would be the best place to find some juicy information…
Sooga, entering the room: Alright men, listen up. The Seer thinks there may possibly be a spy in our midst. So I need you guys to- … yes?
Sheik, with her hand raised: Yeah, are you guys lovers?
Sooga: What?!
Sheik: You and Master Kohga. Do you, like, make out and stuff?
Sooga: What is this? This is so ridiculous…
Sheik: It’s okay if you do. We’re totally cool with it, right guys?
Yiga Footsoldier 1: I mean, Kohga’s not really my cup of tea, but to each his own happiness.
Yiga Footsoldier 2: Omigods is my 235 page fanfiction actually coming true before my eyes?!
Sooga, somehow clearly blushing despite the mask: Okay you guys are clearly too stupid to be spies. I have to go … do something … elsewhere … *disappears into smoke*
Sheik (thinking): Yessss! Juicy gossip acquired!
——————–
*Meanwhile, under a bridge somewhere in Hyrule, Wolf is waiting alone.*
Isabelle, ducking under the bridge: Wolf! It’s me! I got your note.
Wolf: Isabelle. I’m not happy to see you here. You realize this is a war, right? This isn’t fun and games. People are dying here.
Isabelle: But I want to help! Besides, you don’t have to worry about me, they just have me helping out at the lab. Robbie and Purah may be brilliant but they’re horribly disorganized. I’m as far out of danger as you can get.
Wolf: Hmph.
Isabelle: Besides, what about you? What are you doing here?
Wolf: Ganondorf has me keeping tabs on this Astor guy. Dude is kind of an idiot though.
Wolf: What is up with that? First Zant, and then Ghirahim, and now this guy. Why are all of Ganon’s followers complete idiots?
Isabelle: *stare*
Wolf: I- I mean not us obviously!
Isabelle: *raised eyebrow*
Wolf: I mean yes, Bowser isn’t that bright, and K. Rool is a moron … Dedede is incompetent but he barely counts … and Ridley is supposed to be “cunning” but all he cares about is murder … and Wario’s obsessive greed makes him easy to manipulate … and Gruntilda couldn’t witch her way out of a paper bag …
Wolf: *pause*
Wolf: Holy shit, are we all actually idiots?!
Isabelle: Yes, but you’re my adorable idiot. <3
——————–
*Meanwhile somewhere else in Hyrule, one could find the scattered remains of a once army of bokoblins, moblins, and lynels, now nothing more than piles of corpses. On a hilltop overlooking their hard work sits two heroes having a peaceful victory picnic.*
Samus: This is nice.
Link: Yeah, the view from here is pretty great.
Samus: Well, yes, that too, but I was actually referring to getting to help you save Hyrule.
Samus: I’m so used to isolated missions. Doing it for the bounty or to keep pirates from abusing my adoptive family’s legacy. It’s nice to do something that helps people in immediate need, getting to see the smiling faces of the people for whom you’ve come to their aid. I’m genuinely glad that we decided to come help here.
Link: Wow, I didn’t realize how therapeutic this was for you.
Link: But, err … speaking of deciding to intervene, we’re not going to get in trouble for abusing the Mansion’s space-and-time thingy, are we? I feel like that might have been a big no-no.
Samus: I’m hoping by the time Master Hand notices it will be too late.
Link: Isn’t he going to notice that a bunch of us are missing?
Samus: I’m not worried about it. The assist trophy crew offered to run distractions for us.
*Meanwhile, in the Smash Mansion*
Master Hand: Where the heck is everybody? We have Smash matches to run here, people! Young Link and Daisy are supposed to be fighting in like five minutes!
Skull Kid, in a tunic: Yes sir! Young Link, that’s me! Best buddy any guy could have in the whole world! See, I have a sock on my head and everything.
Master Hand: Uh… huh… sure, whatever. Dare I ask about Daisy?
Skull Kid:
Oh she’s right here, see?
*drags somebody into the room*
Shadow, in a dress: I don’t know how you convinced me to do this but know that I will be ending all of you later.
Skull Kid: See? I’m sure she says that all the time.
——————–
*Much later, back at Akkala Citadel*
Sheik: So, what do you think?
Marth: Sheik, you were supposed to be gathering intel on the Yiga’s plans. What you gave me is a shipping chart of everyone in Hyrule.
Sheik: But it’s good, right?
Marth: SHEIK.
Sheik: Okay relax I’m just playing with you. The truth is, though, the Yiga don’t really have any plans. They just wait for this Astor guy to have a vision or something and then do what he says. And he’s obviously being set up by Ganon. Very dumb.
Marth: Alright, I guess you’ll have to keep and eye on that guy for us then. Good work.
Sheik: Oh and it’s probably worth mentioning I saw a suspiciously DK-shaped Yiga member.
Marth: Donkey Kong dressed as a Yiga? But why?
Sheik: Either he’s joining them for free bananas or he’s plotting to steal all their bananas for himself.
Sheik: Either way it’s going to end hilariously bad for them. I can’t wait.

I get what you mean, when I was younger, I shipped link with Malon, while adoring the idea of Link and Zelda as platonic soulmates.
If you don’t mind, I’d love to hear some of your headcanons about Link! (Also if you do ship him with anyone else? If you don’t mind of course :)
oh anon, you are after my heart with these asks
my first zelda game was twilight princess (also first game i ever finished) and i think having midna as my first companion really affected the way i saw and still see zelda as a character and romantic interest. i'm all about childhood friends to lovers, it makes my demiromantic heart sing, so it’s easier for me to like ZeLink together in games like skyward sword and minish cap
NOW FOR SHIPS prefacing this with i think the only link to be full-on cis is minish and link's adventure? (i know nothing about the mobile games) soooo here we go
Link/Midna | Link/Sidon | Link/Revali | Link/Sheik (esp if Sheik is a separate entity from Zelda, but I’ve also read some fantastic poly takes) | i do like Link/Marin in a puppy love sort of way | Link/Fado (oh my fuck this is so niche and very recent for me but @sabertoothwalrus got me feeling some type of way)
I can’t think of any more off the top of my head, but i really only look at fandom content for Sidon, Revali, and Sheik.
for some headcanons, i see Link as selectively mute in every single game except link between worlds. i dunno, the way they handled his dialogue in that one just made him seem more vocal to me? i think he’s fully mute in twilight princess, and hard of hearing in wind waker.
this boy is gnc as FUCK
i think breath of the wild actually handled his selective mutism quite well, with the implication of him speaking more after losing his memories, and the way zelda writes about him in her journals. but also like. give me sign language. stop being cowards. just do it. (i have an unfinished work for botw just rotting on my old ao3 where i explore sign in hyrule quite a lot)
skull kid absolutely had a puppy crush/gender-envy thing goin on with majora's mask link and nobody will convince me otherwise
link is the weird horse girl in absolutely every iteration

ur babe, sheik :3
Sexuality HC: they don't really define it. it gets confusing when mixed with their gender, but they are attracted to everyone
Favorite ship(s): sheik/link
Brotp: sheik & ruto
Notp: sheik/ganon; oot zelgan is creepy yall that age difference is really uncomfortable and sheik is lik 16/17 at the end of the game while ganon is a fully grown man
Happy HC: sheik researched the kokiri dialect of hylian sign language after meeting link. being raised royal, they spoke many languages, including hylian sign language, but didn't recognize link's dialect. they struggled to learn for seven years (finding information was HARD) so when link woke up they could communicate on the same page
Angsty HC: they see themselves as 100% responsible for ganon getting in the silent realm and sees what happened to hyule as almost purely their fault
Random HC: once the day is saved and they are reviled to be zelda they decide to continue presenting masc, both for gender reasons but also bc of the trauma that comes with the zelda identity. also, while i default to they/them for them, they use all pronouns

Botw sheik q6 cute hc about link and/or sheik pls pls pls (idk if this AU is romantic or platonic but this ask isn’t meant to be shippy )
Okay so TBH this is the first au where shipping WASNT on my mind. I typically always shoot for Sidlink or Revalink in my personal botw stories (I really don't think my brain knows how to write anything else). Besides, this au is supposed to be semi centered around Sheik (because he's a great character and we should've gotten more of him in OoT?? Like idk if you guys heard, but Sheik passed Ruto's vibe check do you know how hard that is to do?).
With that said, I actually don't know how to give some hcs about him without giving away major plot points (I say like I'm ever going to actually write it as a story anyway-)
And Link is pretty much the same as he is in regular Botw (granted that as I've stated earlier, most botw Link aus are centered around Power of the Champions Link, so Sheik will have a hand in helping Link in that regard)

Ask answers below! Some are heckin’ old. As always, I sometimes forget which ones I’ve already answered, so if I missed any, please feel free to send me a reminder poke!
Anonymous said: Do you still like dirkhal? And are you still planning on putting out a sequel to endangered?
I tell you what, DirkHal is my Homestuck perma-ship. I think every fandom I’ve ever had comes with that one ship I will forever love. I’ve been a Link/Sheik shipper since childhood. ANYways yes the sequel, which is basically a bridge to the actual novel-length sequel, will happen one way or another. If not a VN then as a text adventure thing, because it wasn’t designed to be a fic, if that makes sense. Like I’ve mentioned before, if I ever give up on it, you’ll see me post a synopsis of the plot.
Anonymous said: Read Endangered and honestly my mind is blown! It fun to read stories like this one that was so vastly interesting and stand out. I really hope to read more of your work in the future.
Oh wow, it blows my mind that folks are still reading it for the first time! :0c Thank you!!
Anonymous said: Hi. Thank you for sharing your amazing writing with us, they are providing me with needed distraction right now. Good luck with your program :)
Thank you v much =u= honestly it’s been super rough lately and I’m barely keeping my life together atm, but I realized that taking a hiatus from fandom stuff wasn’t doing me any favors. If all goes well I’ll be graduating at the end of the year tho!
Anonymous said: Hey, weird question but do you know what happened to RedLament? They were one of the more active DirkDave artists for awhile and I come back to tumblr and they're gone?
Ooh that username looked familiar and then I looked up their art and I THINK they actually moved to pillowfort. Looks like the site is down r/n tho, but if you remind me later and/or message me off anon I can try to get that link for you. They might be on twitter too but I’ve recently repurposed mine into a mostly non-fandom nsfw space.
bloominghearts said: Sorry to add to the message count, but it's good to hear from you. ♡ I'm working through my thesis atm as well and it's pretty rough and time consuming, so I totally get that. Take care, Mort! 🤘🏻
Ahh thank you, yeah I’m in that final year and it’s a real beast. Gotta keep remembering that I chose this / did this to myself. :’)
cryptid-with-no-forest said: Hey man you do what you gotta do Hope life is goin well Ngl i did miss ya
Ngl I missed y’all too ;-; thank u for the kind message.
Anonymous said: I may or may not have made fanart of Endangered fairly recently but I think Tumblr is hiding it from you :y
Oooh I’ll look for it, yeah occasionally things just don’t show up in my searched tags / notifications, tumblr is a rotten old potato sometimes.
Anonymous said: im so happy to hear youre still working on the endangered vn, kudos for sticking it out!! i dont think ive ever finished a vn before lol. you and a couple other ao3 writers are whats kept me in the fandom this long, and endangered is genuinely one of my favorite fanworks of all time (i love murderbots So Much.) are you still using renpy for the vn? pls send help if so its hard to get the hang of ;n;
Hhh thank you ;u; oof YEAH there was a big learning curve with renpy, I think I spent most of the first month in the forums trying to troubleshoot and figure out how to do stuff. The functions are so complicated I don’t know what 75% of the code does now, despite writing it myself. orz But if I can do it, anyone can do it! I had never touched a line of code in my life before learning the basics of renpy which is like code lite but still!

Ranting anon. I have a lot. I’ll try and split this into pieces. I wouldn’t say that Lotor was my absolute favorite character, but he was an enjoyable and interesting one. He was a more refined antagonist (not necessarily a villain) who had every capacity of being a great ally and friend. I won’t lie, I liked the idea of Allura and Lotor together, (1/?)
As a parallel to Zarkon and Honerva by being a Galra/Altean power couple that fought for good instead of evil. Lotor is clever and diplomatic and poised, so I honestly thought that he could help Allura cool down her impulsive nature and rash temper and help her become a good leader through example. (2/?)
But in the end, all we got was Lotor giving her an ego boost that in the end didn’t even matter because she dropped him like a hot potato in what feels like a forced “girl power!!” Moment. And I feel like that’s a big problem with how Allura’s character was handled. (3/?)
She’s meant to be this wise, kind, but fierce leader lady, but unlike say, Zelda (another warrior princess,) she doesn’t display the patience or level-headedness that Zelda does, despite people making numerous comparisons between the two. The argument that she’s inexperienced falls through halfway through the series at the very least. Allura never takes any steps to curb her temper or his pushy nature. (4/?)
And somehow no one calls her out on it! A big red flag for me was her reaction when Keith was revealed to be half galra and she just…turned fucking mean for no reason. And while Keith felt guilty for something he shouldn’t have felt guilty for, everyone else was…taking her side? (6/?)
And basically the matter is resolved by him mostly apologizing and her kind of mumbling a half-assed sorry. She was literally being racist to someone she called a friend right until she found out about his heritage. Despite him having done absolutely nothing to her. And no one called her out on it. That pissed me off. It feels like the paladins personalities suffered in order to make Allura look good. Like their moralities and personalities got tossed out the window to revolve around her. (8/8)
Tumblr media
A forewarning to Lotura shippers, I never liked the ship in the first place, so if you are looking for validation about Lotura or even Allura herself, this rant is not for you. Allow me to pitch in my own two cents about myself, Allura, the Paladins, and the comparison referring to Zelda.
Anon, let me just say this first, I adore reading the asks you sent because all of it was basically the biggest problem I had with Allura the second she was revealed in Voltron. And the main reason for that? Was how she introduced herself by being a glaringly-obvious Princess-brat trope that does not think before she decides to speak. This was her first rash and impulsive act as a “royal” Princess.
This is why I have a hard time believing those who say Allura’s racism towards the Galra is valid because, I do not know about you, but being cryogenically frozen during the heat of war then waking up and thinking the main important thing to do is call someone’s ears hideous? What happened to “the war is still fresh in her mind”? And no, suddenly opening up a journal to remember “Oh, yeah, the war! Zarkon evil! I should be angry!” does not fly with me.
I am not saying her trauma is not real, only her reaction to it is slightly misplaced.
In any case, let us move on to the comparison of Allura and I being similar to Honerva and Zarkon. Oddly enough, I did not see this clicking at all in the show. Mostly because, in terms of what happened between them story-wise, Allura and I are more like Alfor and Zarkon. And this is just based off their relationship. Maybe I am a man who strives more for platonic relationships in shows aimed towards children, but I really did not feel the romance at all in Lotura.
Not even with the sickening way she suddenly started pining after me at the realization that I am half-Altean.
And this is the big point in the show. Zarkon and Honerva loved each other not because of their race, but because they just do. Alfor and Zarkon? They both use their power as royals to achieve a greater good. Except, in the case of Allura, she chose to commit unspeakable acts of betrayal based on feelings. Sounds oddly familiar to Alfor, no? Sacrificing all of Altea to ensure she lives? Because he is such a good father, pure of heart who must protect his daughter at the expense of not one, but two entire planets.
He loves her so much, he sacrificed his own people for her. That is why Allura is more like her father in that aspect. Both rulers let their feelings control their actions. Throughout the entire 8 seasons of Voltron, Allura has constantly gone either completely irrational or completely poised for the public, never in between. She does her self-sacrificing bit way too many times and, when she coincidentally lives afterwards, she puts herself on a pedestal as if she was right in her self-indulgent martyr actions.
Which she most certainly is not, because it is common knowledge that if you want to help people, you should be actively staying alive to do so. It is as though once she believed all “her” people died, she has no real purpose to stay around after her grand plan of eradicating all the “evil” Galra from space gets completed. I am sorry to say, or perhaps not, but she really does remind me of a terrible Mary Sue who can do no wrong. Alive or dead.
And this shit? Gets brushed aside or ignored by a majority of the Paladins. I will go ahead and blame it that most of them are all very, very young and lack the experience to speak out against those in charge. In fact, the only two who spoke against her in any sense were Shiro and Keith, even Pidge for family reasons. Shiro when he wanted to support putting myself on the throne and Keith? Well, that is a bit more complicated.
Anyone remember the scene where Keith kept telling Allura that he does not want to hear a lecture from her, and she does it anyways because she is just looking out for Voltron and emotionally guilting him is the best way to go about it? No? Oh, right, maybe it was because she acted like a mother admonishing him for “shirking” his responsibilities. I do not even need to go on about how much I heavily dislike one of the two female members mothering her teammates.
You know what would have been a great development here? If she supported him instead of “disciplining” him as if he stayed out past midnight. Maybe not even support him! Just be like “Okay, I know this is important for you, so tell us what we need to do to help you. We’re a team and as a team we will help you however we can.”
In this sense, Shiro was trusting Keith and doing the right thing by giving him the space he needed to find himself. Allura, on the other hand, was pushy and ultimately did not care at all for him as a person, but him as a useful Paladin tool. If he was so revered as the Black Paladin, then should she not be, I do not know, following his orders by the T? Or is her role as a royal, Altean Princess whose spirit is connected to Voltron more important?
And even before all this, she believes her and Keith are supposedly buddies now since she gave a half-assed apology for being a racist cunt to him. No one, I guarantee you, no one forgets racist comments, regardless of repaired friendships. Especially when her cold-shoulder and outright blatant ignorance is being seen as “Oh, it’s okay for her to feel like this! What do we know, we’re just humans from Earth who have apparently never read a history book.”
Before I get into the nitty-gritty details about why comparing Zelda and Allura are the same people, let me just say this concerning Allura’s hot-headed temper and unchecked racism involving a relationship with myself. That shit does not work and Allura should have taken the time to sort herself out before mixing in a “loving” relationship with an Altean and Galran man. I am all for equal support in a couple, but she did nothing to support myself as a person because she never saw both sides of my heritage.
Allura only saw Altean blood and hyperfixated on that alone. Which, do I even need to spell out how terrible it is to judge someone based on their appearance? Based on their race? Whether in a good or bad light, she once again goes from “I will not have some quiznaking Galra on my ship” to “Your mother was Honerva? You’re Altean!” mode. It is fine to be prideful, but she should have already known the dangers of being too prideful of one’s race.
Considering she is a royal, considering she was raised with political knowledge, considering her father and the Emperor of the Galra Empire worked together, Allura should have been aware of her Achilles Heel and understand her responsibilities.
Okay, now, Allura being like Zelda?
Tumblr media
Alright, I only played a handful of LoZ games, but even I know that Allura is absolutely nothing like Zelda, even with both of them having the Princess title.
We already established that Allura is way too rash and irrational when under any duress. Even when shit is not going down, her way of thinking is very straight forward and linear, disregarding the bigger picture as a whole for her own closeted judgements. Allura has even ignored her royal advisor’s advice too many times to count, excusing her reasoning as “It’s the only way, Coran. I must do this.”
Zelda? Zelda does not, at all, follow Allura’s way of thinking. In fact, OoT has a similar plot to Allura and myself. Link skips 7 years of his life, wakes up to Hyrule being controlled by Ganondorf, and the Princess is MIA. Though, if any of you have played the game, then you know that the Princess was actively trying to save the kingdom. Not just Hylians, but Zoras and Gorons as well.
And the way she accomplished this was by disguising herself as Sheik. Not because she was a coward, but because she knew the importance that came with being a Princess, the next heir to rule, and the one who has the Triforce of Wisdom under her control. Key word here: WISDOM. Something Allura did not display at all in the show.
If we are comparing Zelda to any character, she is more like the exiled Prince than Allura herself. Both Zelda and myself have the wisdom and first-hand experience of suffering under active war. Both actively saved, or tried to save, those they came across. And both understood the political discourse that hurt everyone, not just one specific race. Everyone.
But if that is the case, then Link would be similar to Allura in the sense that they both woke up to disaster. The big difference between Link and Allura? Link would not have killed Sheik once he revealed himself to be Zelda. Not even because Sheik was being deceiving. Link would understand why Zelda had to hide for her own safety, because she was vital to the plan to restore balance to Hyrule.
Even if Link was miffed about Zelda not being truthful? He knows that, under no circumstances, can they chance the risk to kill her over his own personal feelings.
“But that doesn’t mean Zelda never curbed her temper!”
In Twilight Princess, when the kingdom was already starting to fall under evil clutches, Zelda teams up with Midna, an exiled Princess of the Twilight world. I can not imagine how helpless Zelda felt in the face of Zant overthrowing the kingdom, but did she go off and leave the citizens to suffer for all of eternity? No. She accepted aid from those who were willing, even the Princess of the other world.
And, on top of that, Zelda understood that Midna’s world and her own were like two sides of a coin. They must coexist with each other to achieve peace. In fact, I vaguely remember Zelda sacrificing herself to help Midna. Imagine that. Using your powers to help the “enemy” for the greater good. Tell me when Allura helped the Galra out of her own free will? Her own understanding that the Galra need her help just like every other race in the universe?
No, the BoM does not count. Not with her attitude shining through after her “Zarkon is in power because you guys are cowards!” spiel. Not when she begrudgingly helped save Warlord Lahn while simultaneously profiling him out of spite with “Did you buy those weapons or steal them?” And no, not when she built Sincline with myself with the intention to harvest unlimited quintessence then immediately turn around and aid in murdering me, the Emperor of the Galra Empire, over a weak accusation.
Overall, Allura really is the type of person to barge into other people’s problems, claim “I am here to help you all!”, then throw a hissy fit when people ask for specific aid rather than follow her “My way or the highway” attitude. Terrible writing or not, she was always like this since the very beginning. It is kind of like…she had many chances to improve, but she just made her own situation worse and refused to stop to reflect upon herself.
