A/N: Oh look at me, naming a one shot after the song that gave me the inspiration how original. Originally I was supposed to collab on this with danhowellimaginefics but since she is no longer writing, I decided to post it anyways, because I am quite proud with how it turned out. Enjoy!! <3

Blood was trickling down my nose, sneaking inside my mouth through the cracks and crevices on my lips. My eye was just starting to swell and it felt dull and painful. My hair was tangled and all over the place, another dull ache throbbing in the back of my head. My ribs felt almost shattered, the blue-ish bruises already forming on top of my skin. Holding the cloth in my shaking hands, I ran it under the hot, streaming water. I looked at myself in the mirror and saw the reminders of our love. All the little pains and aches and twitches I felt, I saw them all written on my body like a story was written on paper.
It was how me and Dan are. We are both so passionate and extreme in both our emotions and the way we let them out. There is a constant battle, a constant race between us. It's always love and war. There is never an in between. There is never a golden medium. That's not us. It's either we fight to blood or we love to blood. There was always blood. But I liked it that way. And he did too. It was just our nature, how we naturally were. Strong, untamed, forceful and fierce. And so was our love.
I took the cloth to my nose and winced at the pain, but I loved it in a way. I gently started to brush away the blood from my face and my body.
He never took care of me after scenes like the one that just happened, and neither did I take care of him. We both took care of our bruises and wounds on our own. Compassion? No that was not us. Passion - that was us. But passion does not take care. Passion is not gentle, nor is it caring. Passion is violent and abusive, and explosive. It's anything but tender-hearted and merciful. And when the blaze in his eyes is out and withering away, he is not there to soothe you or ease you, or hold you in the warmth of the charcoals left, from the fires that were there not so long before. And neither am I there for him.
Most people think it's a strange kind of love, if they even dare call it that. But people are wrong. It is love. We both feel it burning inside. A painful, powerful burn, but the yearning for the physical sensation is present ever so strongly in both of us.
Society would label it messed up. Maybe it is, but it's a mess we both chose to live in. And we're comfortable with it. The same way a kid chooses to live in a messy room, and when their mother tells them they need to clean it. But the kid knows where everything is, and even though nothing is in it's right place, it's still ordered, because it's not a mess if you know where to find your stuff. The mother doesn't understand, she has her own ideas of what a "clean" room is. It looks vile to her, with all the clothes on chairs and all the possessions scattered around. But the kid would feel out of place in a tidy room, it just has a different idea of order. It's the same with me and Dan. Our love is misunderstood, it scares them. But it's love. In it's most raw, animalistic form.
I finish cleaning myself up and get dressed in something new. I look at the ripped and dirty t-shirt and smile in the corner of my mouth, then throw it in the bin with a soft sigh. The amount of clothes we both throw away because of our passion is incredible. I've learned not to grow attached to clothes. They come and go so fast.
My bones ache, my muscles feel strained. The throbbing after-taste of pain is what I am addicted to. I feel it, in every distant corner of my body. And it makes me feel alive. I hope Dan feels the same. I hope his bruises burn and ache the same way mine do.
I brush my tangled hair smooth, and my pulsating teeth clean. I splash some cold water on my face, just to perk it up a little. I don't bother with make-up, as that would be covering up the beautiful story painted all over my body. How would I and him be able to marvel at our work, if I was to cover it up? My stomach growls and it reminds me of the dinner we were supposed to have before the storm happened.
A smile re-appears at the memory of how little was needed to create a spark, that quickly turns into a blazing fire, burning down everything it touches. We'll need a new lamp. Again. And a new tablecloth. A giggle escapes my mouth. It's good we both are able to make a decent living off our jobs, because we would not be able to to buy a new piece of furniture every other day or week if we weren't.
I smooth myself down and sigh, then turn to grab the doorknob of my bathroom. I say mine, because it is strictly my bathroom, the way Dan has his own. You know what they say, two separate bathrooms makes a happy relationship. It's our private place to go to and recover for a little bit after a fight. And we respect that.
I get out and turn the lights off, then head for the dining table downstairs, to finish where I left off with my meal.
