If I were supreme overlord of DC I'd write a limited series on an "alternative earth" that started with anon's idea of Jason’s very bad no good mental slideshow of horrors, continued with your response of "batboys discuss their traumas & Bruce has a moment of "oh God what have I done??"" And ends with Bruce trying to retire the cowl & turn himself into GCPD as a serial child abuser because "he can't trust himself because he's lived long enough to become the very thing he's fighting against" but when he goes to tell the JL why exactly he's leaving Ollie beats the shit out of him and tells him that he doesn't deserve to give up, that all he's doing is failing his kids once again, and what he needs to do is try and be better, and respect their decisions etc. etc. Which ends in him confronting his kids, injecting himself with a truth serum (because he's still perpetually incapable of communicating with them), telling them that he loves them, they're not failures, he's failed them, he's sorry, etc. etc. And them having responses that vary from "I know you were trying to deal with your traumas and while you could have done a better job, I appreciate you acknowledging it now. I forgive you & you're still my dad." To "You fucked me up beyond repair, I'll never be the same, but for some god forsaken reason I still love you dad." To "Your traumas are no excuse for the way you've treated us. I don't think I can ever see you as my dad again, but maybe we can work towards being friends/colleagues/allies." And everything in between. That way we get acknowledgement of his sometimes shitty behavior while facing no long-term consequences to the Batman titles, it's an alt-earth story so others can brush it off, and we have a reason to return to the softer, more caring Batman we all know and love.
he can't trust himself because he's lived long enough to become the very thing he's fighting against
Anon…
Nonny (if I may)…
You either…*looks around*
You either die a hero…*nobody can stop me*
You either die a hero OR *I’ve immediately gone mad with power*
YOU EITHER DIE A HERO OR LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO SEE YOURSELF BECOME THE VILLAIN!!!!!
I HAD TO.
But anyway, see, this is the sort of out-of-continuity storyline that would justify the existence of “Black Label,” to me.
DC wants to do “Mature” stories…but the level of maturity is like “what if we showed Batman’s dick???” or idk whatever was going on in Three Jokers that meant it had to be published on Black Label. (Gore? Maybe??? Idk.)
And like…it doesn’t have to be “A Very Special Episode”! You could have the whole thing wrapped up in a mystery plot, or start in medias res with Bruce in Batjail or something…maybe Jason is in a Magical Coma and they go to get him out and, tah-dah! Sad stuff! And then mystery of Who Put Jason In A Coma And Why collides with Bruce Wayne Needs Some Personal Accountability.
(And thematically, the true mystery the batkids are trying to solve is their own lived experiences.)
Let’s throw Hugo Strange at them. He likes the mind games. (The phrase “sticky and hot” rolls through my mind like Thunder…uncontrollable. Impossible to contain.)
(iykyk.)
ANYWAY, the point is, I approve your Supreme Overlord plan, and I would like to be the High Chancellor of Clone Babies, and I would like DC to branch out more when it comes to what they can do with alternate lines/continuities/what have you.
(Okay and for my own angst-love, since I’m brainstorming for this story that doesn’t actually exist, Jason breaks Bruce out of Batjail because they NEED him out there…but as Jay and Bruce are out having a magical mystery tour it becomes clear that it’s less about “the case” needing Bruce and more about Jason needing his coping mechanisms reinforced, and eventually Bruce is like “oh…oh no…I see what’s happening here.”)

How Much Do Qatar Tour Packages Cost? Unveiling the Magic of Qatar on a Budget
Tumblr media
Qatar, a fascinating country with sparkling skyscrapers piercing a lively desert environment, entices visitors with its rich cultural heritage, world-class attractions, and opulent experiences. But, amidst the enticement, a common question arises: How much do Qatar vacation packages cost?
Fear not, adventurers! This guide from Joker Tourism, your trusted partner in creating unique Qatari trips, will reveal the mysteries of Qatar tour package pricing and assist you in finding the best fit for your budget.
Discovering the Factors That Affect Qatar Tour Package Costs
Understanding the primary factors that influence Qatar tour package rates is the first step towards organising your ideal holiday. Here is a breakdown of the essentials.
Duration of Your Stay: Qatar vacation packages often range from short weekend getaways to longer adventures. Longer stays with greater inclusions will, unsurprisingly, cost more.
Accommodation: Your choice of lodging, from opulent 5-star hotels overlooking the Doha skyline to cosy guesthouses set among traditional souqs, has a considerable impact on the overall package pricing.
Activities & Experiences: Do you like an adrenaline-pumping desert safari or a relaxing dhow cruise? The activities included in your bundle will impact the cost.
Travel Season: Peak tourist season (usually in the winter months) is sometimes associated with increased tour package rates. Consider visiting Qatar during the shoulder seasons (spring and fall) to find more reasonable accommodations.
Travel Style: Do you prefer a deluxe, all-inclusive vacation or a more affordable, self-guided adventure? Joker Tourism provides a selection of Qatar tour packages to suit different travel tastes and budgets.

Beyond the Package: Additional Costs to Consider

Flights: If your tour package does not include flights, calculate the cost of flying from your departure city.
Meals: Certain packages may only include breakfast. Budget for extra meals based on your tastes.
Visas: Check the visa requirements for your nationality and consider any associated charges.
Travel Insurance: Consider travel insurance to cover any unexpected events.
Souvenirs and Activities: Set aside funds for shopping, additional activities, and gratuities.

This day, lots of stuff happened, in music history….
September 15th
2019 - Ric Ocasek
Ric Ocasek the former lead singer with The Cars was found dead in his New York City apartment, he was 75. The Cars formed in Boston in the mid-1970s by Ocasek and band-mate Benjamin Orr after they met at high school. Their early hits included 'Just What I Needed', 'My Best Friend's Girl' and 'Good Times Roll'. Their 1984 ballad 'Drive' was used as background music for footage of the Ethiopian famine, and its re-release as a single after Live Aid helped raise money for the cause. After the band broke up in the late 1980s, Ocasek embarked on a solo career as well as working as a producer for artists including Weezer, Bad Religion and No Doubt.
2019 - AC/DC
The Cook Islands, a nation in the South Pacific, released two silver coins to honour two classic AC/DC albums. The band’s landmark 1981 album ‘For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)’ was honoured on a two dollar coin while 1990’s ‘The Razors Edge’ could be found on a ten dollar coin. Both feature a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the reverse side.
2014 - U2
Apple released a tool to remove U2's new album from its customers' iTunes accounts six days after giving away the music for free. Some users had complained about the fact that their latest album Songs of Innocence had automatically been downloaded to their devices without their permission.
1997 - U2
A 34 year old man was awarded more than £20,000 by a French court after he lost his hearing when he stood too close to loudspeakers at a U2 concert in 1993.
1990 - Steve Miller Band
The Steve Miller Band had a UK No.1 with 'The Joker' 16 years after it's first release. The song topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in early 1974. More than 16 years later, it reached No.1 in the UK Singles Chart after being used in "Great Deal", a Hugh Johnson-directed television advertisement for Levi's, thus holding the record for the longest gap between transatlantic chart-toppers.
1975 - Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd released their ninth studio album Wish You Were Here in the UK. The album which explores themes of absence, the music business, and former band-mate Syd Barrett's mental decline peaked at No.1 on both sides of the Atlantic and went on to spend a total of 84 weeks on the chart.
1970 - Spiro Agnew
US Vice-President Spiro Agnew said in a speech that the youth of America were being "brainwashed into a drug culture" by rock music, movies, books and underground newspapers.
1968 - The Doors
The Doors were forced to perform as a trio at a concert in Amsterdam after singer Jim Morrison collapsed while dancing during the Jefferson Airplane's performance.
1967 - The Beatles
Filming continued for The Beatles 'Magical Mystery Tour'. Lunch was at James and Amy Smedley's fish and chip shop in Taunton, Somerset with The Beatles being filmed and photographed eating their fish and chips.
1966 - Small Faces
The Small Faces were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'All Or Nothing', their only No.1 hit. According to Kay Marriott, Steve Marriott's mother, Steve wrote the song about his split with ex-fiancee Sue Oliver, though first wife Jenny Rylance states that Marriott told her he wrote the song for her as a result of her split with Rod Stewart.
1965 - Otis Redding
Otis Redding released his third studio album Otis Blue. The album mainly consists of cover songs by popular R&B and soul artists, and, bar one track, was recorded in a 24-hour period over July 9/10 1965 at the Stax Recording Studios in Memphis, Tennessee and includes the classic tracks 'Ole Man Trouble", 'Respect', and 'Down in the Valley'.
1965 - The Ford Motor Company
The Ford Motor Company became the first automaker to offer an 8-track tape player as an option for their entire line of vehicles on sale in the US. Tapes were initially only available at auto parts stores, as home 8-track equipment was still a year away.
1962 - The Four Seasons
The Four Seasons started a five week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Sherry', it made No.8 in the UK. They became the first American group to have three No.1's in succession.
1961 - The Pendletones
A group from Hawthorne, California called The Pendletones attend their first real recording session at Hite Morgan's studio in Los Angeles. The band recorded 'Surfin', a song that would help shape their career as The Beach Boys.
1956 - Elvis Presley
Elvis Presley started a five-week run at No.1 on the US charts with 'Don't Be Cruel'. The track went on to become Presley's biggest selling single, with sales over six million by 1961. This “double-sided hit” which had 'Hound Dog' on the B side, became the most successful on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. One side reached No.1 on the chart, the other No.2. The two titles spent a combined 55 weeks in the Top 100 in 1956-1957.

Batsis HC Compilation
1.     Being the Artist/ Sensitive Also Kinda Scary Wayne Daughter HC (lol):
Tumblr media
Warnings: Depression and anxiety mentions
·      You were the first biological child of Bruce Wayne
·      Well as far as you knew lol
·      You were younger than Jason, but a few months older than Tim
·      I suspect that if you were in the family business as long as Dick or so you’d have some issues
·      Those would include but not be limited to depression and possible anxiety
·      There would be happy days but it would still go downhill after a few days
·      On the days where it was worst, everyone would pile in for family movie night
·      Secretive person and would probably be quite and sarcastic
·      Since you were living at the manor your entire life, you would’ve lived to see Jason’s death and it really hurt
·      If you were a musician, I suspect that Alfred or Bruce would have walked in on you at the piano or something playing a terribly sad song about it or just emotions and they’d cry
·      Something like the song “Beautiful Scar” by Alicia Moffet (sad one btw like omg)
·      If you were a writer or an artist, just pieces describing everything symbolically
·      Going back to the musician, there is a music room in the manor in my mind so I suspect that there are times where Bruce or one of your older brothers will carry you into your bedroom if they find you asleep
·      You find it hard being a Wayne and all seeing as it’s like everyone around you is fake
·      That led you to hanging alone a lot which concerned Bruce
·      “Y/N, why don’t you go to the party you were invited to? It’s a beautiful day for one.” He said one day finding you reading in your bedroom.
You looked at him solemnly, “All my friends are fake and want me for money and clout.” “I don’t try to go out with them much if I don’t have to.” *Que protective batdad*
·      The library is your home as well as the gardens
·      Now public and patrol is a whole new story
·      Riddler is your favorite villain because he starts good conversations
·      Sometimes the villains have in fact questioned your health to your older brothers
·      Riddler: So, does it concern you that Y/S/H/N seems to openly hate life or is it just me?
Nightwing: We all hate life, she just does a little bit more
Riddler: ...okkayyyyyyy
·      You sometimes make very violent threats on patrol which lead to some interesting conversations in the vans back to jail
·      The paps are literally scared of you
·      You have given the famous Wayne glare but on level 1000, billions of times
·      Very sarcastic answers to some questions
·      When people on the internet come for anyone you love you shut them down asap
_______________________________________________________________________
2.     Being the Business Woman
Tumblr media
·      You showed interest in the business for a while but never really total want to take over WE
·      No, you wanted to leave that for Tim
·      The boy deserved it anyways
·      Instead you started taking extra courses in business and such in middle school and worked your way up
·      While you didn’t like galas, you did try and make connections
·      You went to either an Ivy Leauge or Oxford or something
·      Then Wharton
·      After that you were on your way
·      If you already had a business it was booming but now it’s “extra booming”? idk but you get the idea
·      HuGE
·      Bruce was very proud and made that clear in interviews
·      Your company works closely with WE
·      Asking B for advice
·      Paparazzi doubling down on coverage for you since now you’re bigger than ever
·      Hosting you own galas
·      You either have a big house and rooms for everyone or a penthouse with the same situation
_______________________________________________________________________
3.     Being Bruce’s Favorite
Tumblr media
·      You have the best relationship with Bruce out of everyone
·      He takes you out on father/ daughter lunch or dinner dates which is pretty fun
·      He would never openly admit that you’re his favorite
·      Taught you to drive
·      If you ever need advice you go straight to him
·      Best birthdays ever
·      You go and visit him at WE and he lets you hang in the office
·      There’s a secret fridge stocked with snacks
·      Dad/ daughter patrol
·      Read you stories as a child
·      Legit might still if you ask
·      You sit in his office to do homework
·      Has come home to you spinning in his office chair
·      Shopping sprees
·      Interviews
·      Very protective on patrol when it comes down to being in a ton of danger
_______________________________________________________________________
4.     Being the Metahuman
Tumblr media
·      I’m thinking that you would have gotten your powers from a mission gone wrong
·      It was probably involving magic or something and you were seriously injured
·      I think that it would be fitting to be able to control darkness and things like shadows
·      Everyone was freaked out including you
·      You begged not to be sent away knowing what he thought of metas
·      He promised that he wouldn’t and just had someone over that would help you
·      Lots of tests at first and you kinda just lived in the Batcave for some time just incase
·      After that you changed your costume a bit to fit to the power theme
·      The villains were straight confused
·      “Bats what happened to your kid? Why is she scarier now?” ...”it’s complicated”
·      You know how in Young Justice, Robin had that creepy laugh?
·      It was like that now but then shadows came out of the wall
·      Everyone is pretty sure you made a few street criminals and Black Mask’s goon pee their pants
·      Best Halloween fun on patrol now
·      You scared Joker once
·      The powers do sometimes take a darker turn and you had to learn to control that since it did come from a maliciously used magic
·      “I can smell the fear off of you, clown.” You smiled and walked around him, shadows in the room, darkening your presence.  “Uhhh Batsy, I don’t like this one anymore.”
·      Hanging out with more Metas
·      You and Duke are like best friends
·      Gotta figure it out with someone am I right?
_______________________________________________________________________
5.     Being the Author
Tumblr media
·      Your father does have presence everywhere, but you don’t like to think that that is the reason for your success
·      I could imagine you being a true crime or just mystery writer
·      Maybe even fantasy/fiction
·      Jason helps you write them if you ever get stuck
·      All of them go to your book signings and sometimes it’s embarrassing but also funny
·      You love that they support you
·      Care packages from Alfred when you’re on book tours
·      There are typically also some more things tucked inside from everyone
·      Staying up with Timbers
·      Your room is probably really aesthetic just sayin
·      Gardens and library is the beesstttttt
·      Sometimes for books, you take your time on patrol and as a superhero even if you still do it as inspiration
·      Everyone is like HoW Do ThEY COmE uP WiTh ThIS
·      Hehe
·      If you’re moved out I can imagine you have a really cool apartment or house
·      Cozy and open
·      *aesthetic*
·      One time, Damian did a book cover for you and so since he actually wouldn’t let you pay him, you took him on tour with you
·      You helped him make that his side hustle lol
·      Alfred has all of your books in the library

“I’m super bummed about the yurt,” Myka says.
“It is rather unfortunate," Helena says. "Perhaps internet rentals are unreliable?”
“That’s how everything’s done these days. And it’s not their fault, the pump died, and no water means it’s a no-go. But I still want that river view.”
“And the solitude. Plus the solar-powered generator.”
“You were super into that,” Myka says. “But this place…” She pushes at the cards scattered in front of her. “They just left stuff lying around. Such a dump.”
“It was rather last minute. Merely a stop-gap; a place to rest our weary heads after nights under the stars.”
“And backs on the hard ground,” Myka grumbles. “Where’d you find this?” She twirls a yellow flower between her thumb and forefinger.
“In the garden behind the shed. Though ‘garden’ and 'shed’ are generous terms.”
“Thanks for picking it. And thanks for being so upbeat about this,” Myka says, cracking a small smile.
“Thank you for humoring my curiosity.” Helena gathers the cards within her reach and piles them into a neat stack.
“It’s given us a destination, which we needed.” Myka pushes more cards towards Helena. “You’re sure none of the sites we saw are what you remember?”
“From the stereographs? No.” Helena fans the cards out and begins to arrange them in suits.
“Could you…could it be you don’t remember it as well as you thought?
"Stereographs were the virtual reality of my day. They immersed one in places inherently foreign to our own. The take-away memories were vivid. I was hoping…”
“Hoping what?” Myka says, scooting closer, joining in organizing the cards.
“That the physicality of the ruins would trigger an emotional response. I viewed the images at one of Charles’s parties not long before I was bronzed. My reaction was quite visceral; I’d felt life flowing through the structures, even though they were long abandoned.”
Helena stares at the card in her hand.
“Then again, I wasn’t exactly in my right mind. Perhaps it’s a ridiculous quest.” She lays the card, a joker, on the table.
“Hey, we’ll keep looking,” Myka says, laying her hand over Helena’s. “We’ll regroup in Vegas, then go north and hit Mesa Verde. It’s pretty magical.”
“You’ve been before?”
“Girl Scout trip. Long, miserable bus ride. But even as a kid, the cliff dwellings felt magical.”
“Perhaps they’re the site I’m looking for!” Helena says, perking up. “And, perhaps we met there in the past. Star-crossed lovers, throughout time and space.”
“Past lives? You believe in that?”
“Not in a grand sense,” Helena says, aligning the gazes of the queen of hearts and queen of spades to face each other. “But I do appreciate that these days, one can mention such trivial mythologies without repercussions.”
“What do you mean?”
“In my day, as a woman, there was little room for flippant musing. Christian values dictated our every move, while Spiritualism promoted the fanatic embrace of communing with the dead. Not to mention the base-level assumption women were of a lesser intellect.”
“So you’d never say it out loud.”
“Never. In fact, I’d blocked it out. Hard science was my escape but at the expense of my sanity.”
“I suppose we all need a sense that something out there's guiding us,” Myka says, plucking the two other queens from the spread and aligning them as Helena did. “It’s kind of romantic to think our connection’s lasted hundreds of years.”
“But you’re not sold.”
“Nah.” Myka slips the cards on top of each other and slides them back into the pile.
“Perhaps my bronzing was the universe’s way of aligning our presence.”
“Sounds like a story you might write. Or one you already did.”
“So pragmatic, Myka Bering.”
“You’re the romantic,” Myka says, bumping Helena’s shoulder.
“I’m a woman of science!” Helena quips playfully.
“Hm, yeah,” Myka mumbles, turning to look towards the other side of the trailer. “Come with me, 'woman of science.’ Let’s test out this awful looking bed.”
She grabs Helena’s hand and tugs her across the room. They tumble in tandem onto the full-size futon.
------------
Bering and Wells On the Road ("Warehouse 13" Season 5 replacement) Season 1: Episode 5 Title: Las Vegas: Hopes, Dreams, and a Little Bit of Crazy
Summary: Myka and Helena travel across the expanse of Texas toward the arid Southwest, tracking down a memory. A last-minute cancellation leads to less-than-ideal accommodations and musings on the universe. A stop in Vegas turns into an artifact hunt after a few nights on the town. While there, a less than supernatural mystery garners honest talk, revealing a sticking point that, for better or worse, is left hanging to be resolved down the line.

***BONUS SCENE***
Tumblr media
“What’s this?” Myka asks, holding a piece of paper found while tidying the room before checkout.
Helena turns from packing and squints at the page.
“It appears to be an advertisement for burlesque.”
“It’s a strip club.”
“There’s a distinction?”
“You’ve watched enough cop shows to know.”
“Touché,” Helena says with a smirk. “Were you considering attending?”
“It’s from your pocket! The stuff you took out to dry clean your coat after it got gooed.”
“I don’t recall saving that piece of ephemera.”
“Maybe you recall this?” Myka flips the paper over.
Helena steps closer and squints again.
“Do you need glasses?”
“I haven’t had proper tea yet,” Helena grumbles. “It appears to be writing.”
“It’s a name. And a number. Who's Giselle?”
“Ah…” A light bulb goes off behind Helena’s eyes. “The tall, blonde you were ogling at the bar.”
“Me? What blonde? Oh…” A dimmer bulb goes off behind Myka’s eyes. “I thought I recognized her from that show we saw, Zumanity.”
“And I’d thought she’d reminded you of a tall blonde from your past.”
“Sam was a man.”
“Gender is a construct–”
“I know! I don’t need another lecture–”
“–designed to control the masses, just like– ”
“Capitalism, religion, television….who knows what else,” Myka gruffs. “No more podcasts in the car for a while, OK?"
Helena crosses her arms over her chest and grunts dismissively. Myka's face pinches as she holds her ground.
"So you, what, went up to this woman when I took that call from the Warehouse?”
“As it happens, she spoke with me,” Helena says, puffing up like a bird on the defense.
“She came to our table?”
“I’d gone to the bar. I needed a top-up as you’d been gone for an immeasurable amount of time.”
“And she just happened to be there?”
“Coincidentally.”
“Coincidentally? And she 'coincidentally’ gave you her number?”
“We had a lovely conversation about the mechanics from the show. The hanging armatures, the chains, the silks, the water tank. And the athleticism that went into their provocative stunts.”
“Uh-huh. But she gave you her number. Why?”
“I believe there was a misunderstanding.”
“A misunderstanding?”
“Must you parrot me so?” Helena plants her hands on her hips.
“If you’d tell me what really happened, I wouldn’t have to.” Myka mirrors Helena’s pose.
“Fine. You seemed so enamored, I thought to ask questions–”
“I thought I recognized her, that’s all!”
“She was quite stunning. Did I mention statuesque?”
“Helena, why?” Myka waves the page in Helena’s direction.
“She offered us a backstage tour.”
“Us, or you?”
“I’d pointedly mentioned you, so us.”
“Oh.” Myka’s shoulders slump. “What does 'backstage tour’ mean?”
“I believe a peek behind the production.”
“Because you said there was a misunderstanding.”
“Due to her somewhat pointed overtures.”
“I knew it! She was hitting on you.” Myka smacks the desk with her hand.
Helena grimaces. “I believe she was 'fishing’”
“Do you even know what that is?”
“I do, as per the aforementioned police procedurals. In fact, it was….refreshing, being courted by a woman."
"I’m a woman!”
“Yes, but….in the wild, so to speak.”
“Did you…” Myka starts, then glances at the paper again. She sits on the edge of the bed and looks up at Helena. “Did you want to go out with her?"
"Again, I’d pointedly pointed out I was taken.”
“Then why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because we rushed off New York, New York the minute your call from the Warehouse finished.” Helena throws her hands in the air. “We then spent the majority of yesterday chasing an elusive King Kong around that scale model of the city.”
“We did. Stupid antiques convention.”
“I swear we spend more time on Warehouse business than our own.”
“Like once a month.”
“Every week.”
“Every other week. When they call us. Us getting whammied doesn’t count.”
“Mine was New Orleans. Yours Austin. But the others…”
Myka tallies missions on fingers until she hits ten. “You’re right. We’ve spent a lot of time on Warehouse stuff. I’m sorry.”
Helena shakes her head while breathing out a heavy sigh. She sits next to Myka and lays a hand on her thigh. “To answer your question, we’re off today anyway, so there was no point in mentioning it.”
Myka slips her hand over Helena’s. “I bet you actually wanted to see the mechanics backstage. That’s something people do on vacation.”
“Quite an improvement from Trouble Wit,” Helena says.
“I don’t know that that is.”
“Illusions with pleated paper. Parlor tricks, but they delighted Christina so.”
“See, I like hearing that stuff,” Myka says, squeezing Helena’s hand. “Would you have told me any of this if I hadn’t found the flyer cleaning up?’ She hands the paper to Helena.
"Why would it matter?” Helena crumples the paper and lobs it towards the garbage can. It bounces off and onto the floor.
“Because for this to work we need to talk to each other, tell each other how we feel.” Myka looks Helena in the eye. “I can’t read your mind.”
“Then, perhaps we were not destined to meet throughout time and space.”
“Hey, you can’t take it back. I like that idea now.” Myka threads her fingers through Helena's and flips their hands over. “You’re really annoyed about the work stuff?”
“I was hoping to have you all to myself.”
“You do.” Myka squeezes Helena’s hand again and lifts it up, kissing its back. “How much time do we have before checkout?”
Helena glances at her wristwatch. “Not nearly enough.”
“But it could be.” Myka threads a lock of hair behind Helena’s ear and guides their lips together. Their kiss leads to more-than-kissing in record time.
Next Scene: Running late to checkout…

NOTES: The quote, “Las Vegas is a city built on hopes, dreams and a little bit of crazy,” is by Eleanor Goggin. If you haven’t seen a well-shot stereograph in a viewer, you are missing out. Their mock-3D spaces from bygone eras can be mind-blowing.Myka with the flyer is from a season four episode where she and Pete go to Las Vegas. The show Zumanity is a racy offshoot of Cirque du Soleil and just closed after a seventeen-year run in Vegas. I started reading a fascinating dissertation about why middle- and upper-class Victorian women embraced Spiritualism. In a nutshell, it gave them autonomy and a sense of power within the rigid confines of what was expected of them as women while they remained safe within the construct of home. H.G. would have bristled at that, because she wanted more. But I’m certain she would have been fascinated by Hilma af Klint’s amazing drawings and paintings, even though they were based in Spiritualism and Theosophy. Oh and here's on of the stereographs. (H.G. would have seen it later than 1898.) Also, the title font/design is from the first edition of the book you are thinking of but the content is not related.

Humor & Pop Culture: Non-Fiction Book Recs
Live Like a Vulcan, Love Like a Wookiee, Laugh Like a Hobbit: Life Lessons from Pop Culture by Robb Pearlman, Jason Kayser (Illustrations)
Much like a dragon-guarded mountain filled with stolen dwarf gold, Pop Culture is far more than just a side quest or afternoon's entertainment: it contains a veritable treasure trove overflowing with life lessons. If there's one takeaway from more than 40 years of Scooby-Doo mysteries, it's that the vast majority of life's villains are old white men using literal scare tactics to hold on to whatever privilege they have; Stranger Things taught us that any group of bike-riding kids are either running from or toward a vast governmental conspiracy; The Wizard of Oz proved that fashion can only take you so far; The Lord of the Rings showed us not only about the power of statement jewelry but that gifts come with strings attached; and Jaws was evidence that no matter how prepared you think you are, you should always expect the unexpected. This modern-day fable takes the best elements of My Dinner With Andre, The Big Bang Theory, and How to Make Friends and Influence People, to tell the story of three cosplaying friends sharing what they have learned from their favorite (and hated) movies, series, and games in a cafe after a day of walking the halls of a convention center. Live Like a Vulcan, Love Like a Wookiee, Laugh Like a Hobbit invites readers to a never-before-seen and slightly skewed look at the most memorable moments in films, shows, books, comic books, graphic novels, and video games. By the end of this pop-culture tour, fans of all ages will be given more inside knowledge than could ever be gotten at a comic convention, more self-help tools than can fit into any utility belt, more treasures than can be found in a cave of wonders, and more smiles than can be seen on any joker's face.
Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman by Lindy West
Coming of age in a culture that demands women be as small, quiet, and compliant as possible--like a porcelain dove that will also have sex with you--writer and humorist Lindy West quickly discovered that she was anything but. From a painfully shy childhood in which she tried, unsuccessfully, to hide her big body and even bigger opinions; to her public war with stand-up comedians over rape jokes; to her struggle to convince herself, and then the world, that fat people have value; to her accidental activism and never-ending battle royale with Internet trolls, Lindy narrates her life with a blend of humor and pathos that manages to make a trip to the abortion clinic funny and wring tears out of a story about diarrhea. With inimitable good humor, vulnerability, and boundless charm, Lindy boldly shares how to survive in a world where not all stories are created equal and not all bodies are treated with equal respect, and how to weather hatred, loneliness, harassment, and loss--and walk away laughing. Shrill provocatively dissects what it means to become self-aware the hard way, to go from wanting to be silent and invisible to earning a living defending the silenced in all caps.
The Witches Are Coming by Lindy West
In this wickedly funny cultural critique, the author of the critically acclaimed memoir and Hulu series Shrill exposes misogyny in the #MeToo era. THIS IS A WITCH HUNT. WE’RE WITCHES, AND WE’RE HUNTING YOU. From the moment powerful men started falling to the #MeToo movement, the lamentations began: this is feminism gone too far, this is injustice, this is a witch hunt. In The Witches Are Coming, firebrand author of the New York Times bestselling memoir and now critically acclaimed Hulu TV series Shrill, Lindy West, turns that refrain on its head. You think this is a witch hunt? Fine. You’ve got one. In a laugh-out-loud, incisive cultural critique, West extolls the world-changing magic of truth, urging readers to reckon with dark lies in the heart of the American mythos, and unpacking the complicated, and sometimes tragic, politics of not being a white man in the twenty-first century. She tracks the misogyny and propaganda hidden (or not so hidden) in the media she and her peers devoured growing up, a buffet of distortions, delusions, prejudice, and outright bullsh*t that has allowed white male mediocrity to maintain a death grip on American culture and politics-and that delivered us to this precarious, disorienting moment in history. West writes, “We were just a hair’s breadth from electing America’s first female president to succeed America’s first black president. We weren’t done, but we were doing it. And then, true to form—like the Balrog’s whip catching Gandalf by his little gray bootie, like the husband in a Lifetime movie hissing, ‘If I can’t have you, no one can’—white American voters shoved an incompetent, racist con man into the White House.” We cannot understand how we got here-how the land of the free became Trump’s America—without examining the chasm between who we are and who we think we are, without fact—checking the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves and each other. The truth can transform us; there is witchcraft in it. Lindy West turns on the light.
Sh*t Rough Drafts: Pop Culture's Favorite Books, Movies, and TV Shows as They Might Have Been by Paul Laudiero
Sh*t Rough Drafts collects imagined misguided early drafts of classic books, screenplays, and contemporary literature, creating visions of alternate works that would exist had the authors not come to their senses. What if F. Scott Fitzgerald had gone with the title The Coolest Gatsby? How would The Hunger Games change if Peeta were armed only with blueberry muffins? If the Man of Steel's S stood for Sexyman? MacBeth, Moby Dick, Harry Potter, Sense and Sensibility, The Lord of the Rings, and many more are each presented as if they were the actual typed or handwritten pages by the authors themselves, revealing the funny and frightful works they might have been with a little less capable judgment.

Cast A Spell On You
As a witch, demon, and even for heritage Raven worshiped Halloween. It was the most powerful day of the year for Raven, and she loved it. She didn’t do the slutty costumes, or the trick-or-treating, or the parties even, at least not normally.
This year was different.
It was the Hex Girls Curse Tour, it was the first Samhain on a Saturday with a full moon since 2001 on the first blue moon since 1944 with an extra hour long because of daylight savings, amidst a global pandemic. So, her favorite band, the Hex Girls, were throwing a ‘Cursed Tour’ with the standards for social distancing, and magically enforced thanks to their newest band and act member, Zachary Zatanna.
And in accordance to the Hex Girl Curse Tour, Raven was going with her husband dressed in costume.
No kids.
No responsibilities.
No family obligations.
Mary-Beth was in charge of any magic issues tonight with Billy and Jessica; Alice was not thrilled about that because she was ready to pitch Merlin out of her guest room but Jack had been supervising. Alina, Tommy, Terry, Helena, Lian, Mar'i, Amistad, Matt, B Jr., Thomas, and Jake were all under Dick’s custody, which meant she and Jason were home free. Luci was going to an orgy of some sort with Maze (Raven didn’t want to know, so she didn’t ask) but they were taking Constantine with them! Bats were busy with Gotham, which was the only place in the world she knew wasn’t concerned about satanism but banned clown outfits, much to her mother’s disappointment, Ivy and Harley were instead going to be dressed as Wonder Woman and a Dragon Fly Catcher. And Victor had the football game set up to watch. So Raven was certain no one would bother her and her husband.
Rae had selected her best Samhain costume too.
She was going as a magician bombshell, fishnet stockings with garters, a small, vintage, strapless, bright blue one-piece bathing suit, it clung to her every curve and even made her look like she had cleavage! She also had a small… frumpy thing that she could wrap around the back of her hips, and then there was a cloak she would normally wear, it wrapped around her with bare shoulders. There were also bright blue opera gloves she could wear, and small gold ruby broaches, two to hold up her frumpy thing, and one to clasp her cloak. She had also done up her hair, using a small glamor spell to do her bangs and curls up. She also let her eyes be red this time.
“Whoa, sexy little bombshell,” her husband whistled lowly as she finished her hair.
“Very… mobster,” she chuckled turning to look at her husband who was dressed in a three piece charcoal suit with a vibrant red silk shirt and a black tie. There was also a black pea coat hanging off his shoulders, with his red mask wrapped around the lower half of his face. It was what she had long since termed his Hannibal Lector mask. It didn’t hide the scar he had gotten across his face and eye, but it hid the J Joker had seared into his face. His curly hair was stunning with the windswept look and she could tell he was smiling behind his mask.
“Seems fitting if I’m having a bombshell hanging off my arm,” he chuckled. “One thing though,” he produced a head band then. “Rather be there with the demon,” he said as he slid them on her head.
“How do I look?”
“Like you could put a spell on me,” he chuckled and offered her his arm.
“Oh I’d need a lot more than looks to do that,” she mused.
“I don’t know, you’re a demon,” he mused as they walked through the portal. She flicked her hand to give herself a mask over her ruby red lips as they walked through the gates.
“I’m so excited!” she mused and bounce on her round toe pumps.
“I can’t believe Mystery Inc. was willing to give me the tickets!” Jason said as he walked with her.
“Best friends we ever made, plus Fred Jones’ books are epic,” she decided.
“Of course,” he chuckled.
“And I get to meet Thorn, Dusk and Luna!” she leapt up and wrapped her arms around his neck. “You’re the most amazing husband ever,” she assured him.
“And if I wasn’t wearing this Hannibal Lector mask, you’d totally kiss me senseless,” he decided as he swung her around to land on her feet.
“Oh please, I’d kiss you even with the mask for this!” she smiled as she slipped her mask off and pressed her lips to his mask before yanking it back on and they wound their way to their spot.
“You know that reunion tour was sort of underwhelming to their Curse Tour,” Jason observed.
“Of course, Gomez Addams is a very enthusiastic manager and he’s thrilled for our magic culture to have a popular face,” she stated.
“I thought you guys liked the shadows,” he chuckled as he slid behind her and his hands moved over her stomach.
“Mmm, we do, but we also can’t stay there forever, best we put a positive face forward,” she smiled.
“Smart,” he chuckled. Raven turned in his arms suddenly as her eyes moved over the crowd.
“What is it?” he asked.
“I thought… never mind,” she dismissed.
~~~*~*~*~~~
She watched the daughter of Trigon move with her selected mate. This would be easier than he was anticipating. All she needed was to make her move, and she was feeling like tonight would be a good night for such a thing. Especially with how these weaklings left themselves exposed.
One good little tap, that was all that was going to be needed.
She would destroy the Gem of Scath and claim her title as the most powerful celestial ever created. As an Amazon there was no way she would lose to such a soft creature. Life had made this demoness soft.
Grail would gladly crush her.
🤍📖 Prettygalsread presents: 5 Anticipated reads for 2021! 🤍📖
2020 has been a stressful, and chaotic year. One thing has kept my spirits up are the amount of fanstic books that were released and some amazing reveals for books that will be released in 2021! I’ve decided to pick 5 (even though there are wayyyy more than that haha) books that I am really excited for that will be released in 2021.
🤍🔥A Court of Silver Flames - Sarah J Maas: It’s no secret that I am a huge Sarah J Maas fan. A Court of Thorns and Roses is my all time favorite series. I won’t spoil anything for the people who haven’t read the series yet, but I will say I have been waiting for Nesta and Cassian’s book for years! I can’t begin to describe how excited I was when Sarah released a title and official release date back in June. Now we just wait for a cover reveal *squeals* A Court of Silver Flames will be released on January 26, 2021 and is now available for preorder. Below I have added the official synopsis from Bloomsbury.
“Nesta Archeron has always been prickly – proud, swift to anger and slow to forgive. And since the war – since being made High Fae against her will – she's struggled to forget the horrors she endured and find a place for herself within the strange and deadly Night Court. The person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred, winged warrior who is there at Nesta's every turn. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. And when they are forced to train in battle together, sparks become flame.As the threat of war casts its shadow over them once again, Nesta and Cassian must fight monsters from within and without if they are to stand a chance of halting the enemies of their court. But the ultimate risk will be searching for acceptance – and healing – in each other's arms.”
💙🎪 When Night Breaks - Janella Angeles: Back I’m January I was approved for an Advanced Readers Copy of Where Dreams Descend. I adore books about carnivals, circuses, etc. The world setting, the romance and the mystery of certain events sucked me in and I finished the book in one day! I was immediately ready for the next book. Recently Janella revealed the cover and title of book two and I was estatic! When Night Breaks will be released on June 8, 2021! Below I have added the official synopsis from Wednesday Books.
“The competition has come to a disastrous end, and Daron Demarco’s fall from grace is now front page news. But little matters to him beyond Kallia, the contestant he fell for who is now lost to this world and in the hands of a dangerous magician. Daron is willing to do whatever it takes to find her. Even if it means embarking on a dark and treacherous journey, risking more than just his life, with no promise of return. After awaking in darkness, Kallia has never felt more lost. Especially with Jack by her side, the magician with who has the answers but cannot be trusted. Together, they must navigate a dazzling world where mirrors show memories and illusions shadow every corner, one ruled by a powerful game master who could all too easily destroy the world she left behind -- and the boy she can’t seem to forget. With time running out, Kallia must embrace her role in a darker destiny, or lose everyone she loves, forever.”
🧡🐺 Rule of Wolves - Leigh Bardugo: The Grishaverse is one of the most creative and uniquely written book worlds I’ve read. The Six of Crows duology and King of Scars both have a special place in my heart. A few weeks ago, I attended Leigh’s virtual book tour where she announced the the release date, title and cover reveal for book 2 of King of Scars. Rule of Wolves will be released March 30, 2021! Below I’ve added the official synopsis from Goodreads.
“The Demon King. As Fjerda’s massive army prepares to invade, Nikolai Lantsov will summon every bit of his ingenuity and charm—and even the monster within—to win this fight. But a dark threat looms that cannot be defeated by a young king’s gift for the impossible. The Stormwitch. Zoya Nazyalensky has lost too much to war. She saw her mentor die and her worst enemy resurrected, and she refuses to bury another friend. Now duty demands she embrace her powers to become the weapon her country needs. No matter the cost. The Queen of Mourning. Deep undercover, Nina Zenik risks discovery and death as she wages war on Fjerda from inside its capital. But her desire for revenge may cost her country its chance at freedom and Nina the chance to heal her grieving heart.King. General. Spy. Together they must find a way to forge a future in the darkness. Or watch a nation fall.”
❤️⛵️Namesake - Adrienne Young: In March I received an ARC of Fable and I fell in love with it. I had never read anything by this author before and I totally questioned myself as to why that was once I was done with the book! Book 2 already has a released date and book cover and I’m hoping to read it very soon! This book will have you feeling as mf joker actually on the sea. Namesake will be released on March 16, 2021! Below I’ve added the official synopsis from Barnes and Noble.
“Trader. Fighter. Survivor. With the Marigold ship free of her father, Fable and its crew were set to start over. That freedom is short-lived when she becomes a pawn in a notorious thug’s scheme. In order to get to her intended destination she must help him to secure a partnership with Holland, a powerful gem trader who is more than she seems. As Fable descends deeper into a world of betrayal and deception she learns that her mother was keeping secrets, and those secrets are now putting the people Fable cares about in danger. If Fable is going to save them then she must risk everything, including the boy she loves and the home she has finally found.”
🤎🧝🏽‍♀️Witches Steeped in Gold - Ciannon Smart: Ok, I am sooo ready to have this book in my hands. A book about Jamaican Witches? YES PLEASE! Not only is the cover beautiful but the synopsis sounds amazing and I have no doubt this will be one of my favorites series. Witches Steeped in Gold will be released on April 20, 2021! I have added the official synopsis from Google books below.
“Trust no witch . . . Iraya Adair has spent her life in a cell. Heir of an overthrown and magically-gifted dynasty, she was exiled from her home on the island nation of Aiyca when she was just a child. But every day brings her closer to freedom - and vengeance. Jazmyne Cariot grew up dressed in gold, with stolen magic at her fingertips. Daughter of the self-crowned doyenne, her existence is a threat to her mother's rule. But unlike her sister, Jazmyne has no intention of dying to strengthen her mother's power. Sworn enemies, the two witches enter a deadly alliance to take down the woman who threatens both their worlds. But revenge is a bloody pursuit, and nothing is certain - except the lengths Iraya and Jazmyne will go to win this game. Two witches. One motive. And a very untrustworthy alliance.”
—————
There are soooo many more books I’m highly anticipating and I’ll probably do more of these posts in the upcoming weeks! My waiting for release and TBR (to be read) lists are overflowing but I can’t complain haha. What book releases are you guys most excited for? @highqueenofelfhame
So......Are you ready for the encore?
Taffy’s Take: Dark Nights Death Metal #1
Written by: Scott “Hallowed Be Thy Name” Snyder
Pencils by: Greg “Panikiller” Capullo
Inks by: Jonathan “Motorbreath” Glapion
Colors by: FCO “Fixxxer” Plascencia
So....it has all finally come to this. The finale. The ultimatum in a long saga of stories that started in the original Dark Nights, began showing its hand in No Justice, and was fully fleshed out with Snyder’s Justice League run. And it opens with a resounding boom that rivets your attention straight to the story and won’t let go until the pages run out.
We open with Sergeant Rock, preparing himself and an unknown audience for a conflict to come. When or where this is set is somewhat unknown, but the massive futuristic assault rifle he levels to emphasis his last line says that Rock is somewhere in the modern day.
After the credits page, featuring a map of the current world of the DCU and a message that calls Death Metal an “Anti-Crisis”, we cut to Wonder Woman, hard at work deconstructing the invisible jet with a buzzsaw-like device in the literal depths of hell (Originally Themyscira) when someone interrupts her over approaching people. Said person is the flaming, green-covered skeleton that Swamp Thing has become in this world and he says that someone is coming with prisoners. And as Diana walks through her prison to meet these people, we get to see the absolute myriad of villains entombed in the place, including Joker. Once they reach the quartet, we get to meet Batmage, a red-suited Batman, a cloaked figure, and.....Bat-Tyrannosaurus. After some very terse banter, Diana is forced to throw this unknown prisoner into the pits of Tartarus. But before he is cast into the depths, he mutters something to Diana that makes her recognize the person for a moment.
After that, we are shown Castle Bat and given a backstory of a specific field within that area and the rebels who died within the tunnels underneath it before pulling back to a panel of a castle, with The Batman Who Laughs’ twisted Robins and Joker dragons dominating the structure. And then we meet The Batman Who Laughs’ League, composed of pairings of heros and Dark Multiverse Batmen. We have Harley Quinn and Dr Arkham, Aquaman and Bathomet, Wonder Woman and Batmage, and Mister Miracle and Darkfather. With each of them, we get a small question about their current work, with the most noteworthy being Mister Miracle revealing that Superman has almost succumbed to the Anti-Life Equation. Content with their briefings, The Batman Who Laughs begins to explain how Perpetua, the god who created their multiverse, has destroyed another of their universe, leaving only 8 before The Batman Who Laughs and Perpetua can remake the multiverse however they desire. Before we can hear more, we’re dragged into Diana’s perspective as the true Batman engages in a psychic link with her, trying to advocate for a small victory rather than the sweeping final win that Diana desires. As her thoughts turn towards what happened to result in the current state of the universe and her lack of memory about what caused it, The Batman Who Laughs interrupts her as he can tell that she is hiding something.
And at that moment, an explosive arrow fires out of the nearby woods and nearly vaporizes The Batman Who Laughs. Sacrificing one of his Robins, we soon see Bruce stride out to exchange threats with The Batman Who Laughs, who takes with some jest before ordering an entire squadron of Dark Multiverse Batmen to kill Bruce. While the enslaved Justice League does their best to take advantage of the distraction, their Dark Multiverse minders are quick to detain them from any rebellious actions. So Bruce is left alone, simply standing in this field to face down an army. And as The Batman Who Laughs monologues about how disappointed the brave men and women who died in this field would be at Bruce’s actions, he asks him what he would say to justify himself.
His answer?
One word.
“RISE.”
And so, with a BLACK LANTERN RING ON HIS FINGER, BRUCE WAYNE SUMMONS AN ARMY OF UNDEAD REBELS TO FIGHT THE DARK MULTIVERSE BATMEN JUST PURELY TO DEMONSTRATE WHAT HIS METHOD CAN DO TO DIANA BEFORE RIDING OFF ON A SKELETAL MOTORCYCLE AND LEAVING ZOMBIE JONAH HEX TO CONTINUE LEADING THE ASSAULT.
And now, as the audience both in the know about all of that and not in the know but hyped as hell because BRUCE WAYNE WENT FULL FUCKING NECROMANCER sits in the afterglow of that amazing moment, we cut to a single page depicting the planet Ossex as the Main Man, Lobo, unearths something from underneath the living bone of the planet.
Having made it back to Themyscira, Diana is quick to continue with the rebellion, setting off into Tartarus to see who this mystery prisoner is. And its...Wally West, with a Dr Manhattan-style hydrogen atom drawn into the forehead of his costume. And with Wally, we finally get an explanation of what the hell is going on. See, with the traditional multiverses, they are created using the positive energies that were explored in the Justice League run, things like the Speed Force, the Emotional Spectrum, Imagination. The inverse, stuff like chaos magic and the forces of doom that Perpetua wished to bring to power (and succeeded at doing) are what Wally calls Crisis Energy. And whereas the positive energies wish to create a strong united universe, Crisis Energies wish to simply make only one thing, one moment, one person important. And so, when Perpetua was trapped after her attempts to make a universe of war out of crisis energy, she did her best to instigate crises and came back empowered with all that energy. Meanwhile, the league, empowered by the slightly failed efforts of Dr Manhattan to ‘fix’ the multiverse, gathered all the positive energy they could and then, between the last issue of Justice League and Death Metal, the two forces clashed. Which, since they were basically smashing tow inverse forces together, resulted in both sides burning themselves out.
Now, that block of text could be extremely dry feeling, but it works really well in the two page spread, with the word balloons beginning to form an infinity symbol as images of past crises ranging from the original Crisis On Infinite Earths to Emerald Twilight to Dark Nights Metal in the background.
But back to the story. With that explanation done, Wonder Woman begins to theorize potentially going back to those crises and gathering this information for themselves in order to reshape the universe themselves. Resulting in....”The first Anti-Crisis” The Batman Who Laughs interrupts with, striding into Tartarus to cut his own deal with Wonder Woman to let him take control over Perpetua. If she helps him, she gets all the people Perpetua has trapped and their own planet. And after that, he emphasizes how she can’t out-plan him, how he’s already prepared for her to knock him out, use the invisible jet she was being forced to deconstruct and melt down to give her armor that would render her undetectable. Wonder Woman is quick to counter that despite all the knowledge The Batman Who Laughs says he has, that entire plan is what Bruce would do. So he is quick to counter, stating so then she’d make a weapon, some sort of sword?
But it seems The Batman Who Laughs didn’t account for two things. One, for Diana to have already made her weapon before he showed up. Two, she didn’t need to make a sword. And so, with a pull of its ripcord, THE CHAINSAW OF TRUTH CLEAVES ITS WAY THROUGH THE BATMAN WHO LAUGHS IN A SPLASH PAGE OF PURE ENERGY ERUPTING OUT OF THE DEMON WHERE THE CHAINSAW IS CUTTING THROUGH HIM!
The comic ends with two quick one panel stories. The first, with Batmage executing a final plan that The Batman Who Laughs had in place to unleash a final Bruce Wayne. Which only sounds mildly menacing, unti the art shows both a button with a watchmen-style frownie face and the final Bruce Wayne in silhouette, a glowing hydrogen atom on his forehead.
The other is a cut back to Sergeant Rock, still continuing with his tirade from the beginning of the comic before he is taken out of the moment by Batman coming to retrieve him for the big fight. And as Batman promises One last fight with everyone together, we get to see in silhouette that Sergeant Rock is missing his everything below his torso, revealing himself to likely be another resurrection from Bruce’s Black Lantern ring.
So, in summary, IM PUMPED TO SEE WHAT HEIGHTS THIS THING HITS! THE BIG MOMENTS WERE SO DAMNED COOL! THE ART IS STILL THE ABSOLUTE ALL KILLER NO FILLER THAT CAPULLO ROCKED OUT WITH IN THE LAST DARK NIGHTS METAL EVENT AND I CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT NEW SPORES OF MADNESS HE GETS TO CREATE FOR THIS STORY!
And while I’d like to be pure hype beast, that feels a little disingenuous when I do have some small moments that seem like they could be tweaked. Both of the long exposition scenes for the Dead Bats and the Positive Energy vs Crisis Energy could have potentially stood for another pass just to really tighten them up, but I will also admit that both those scenes kinda deserve to be long-winded. The Dead Bats to make sure that the setup for Batman with a Black Lantern Ring summoning an army at that point works and the Energy one because its explaining the entire setup for the rest of the event series and it helps lull things down so that the hype of Chainsaw of Truth can hit like it should.
So yeah, this thing is absolutely something any Scott Snyder fan, any DC fan, heck Id almost venture to say anyone interested in comics read. None of the story elements of the comic intrinsically need you to know the backstory behind them, but there are definitely rewards for knowing DC continuity in general and Scott Snyder’s previous works in this arcing story. So yeah, I am going to sit here, vibrating in anticipation as I await the next issue of Death Metal from the Cowboys From Hell on their encore tour.
