After the fall of lotus pier JFM wakes up back in his younger body. He is the young heir of YMJ again. WCZ and CSSR already left, he lacks influence and his family starts suggesting marriage. But this time around he knows exactly what is to come and sets out to overcome the incoming struggle. He seeks out other cultivators and heirs to gain more influence for the future. To get ahead of Yu Clan persuasion he arranges to find another marriage match behind his family's back. And he succeeds. 1/6
Soon he becomes leader of the most thriving sect. He gains fame for aiding others before things get out of hand. He has more allies and connections than before, his relationship with Madam Jiang is full of mutual respect and Lotus Pier grows stronger under her care. His children are happy, well adjusted, don't doubt their parents' love, respect YMJ teachings and his advice. 2/6
He can't change everything. Despite the warnings, his friends perish again. This time their son finds a place in his family as a child of his sworn brother. There is no one doubting his faithfulness, his wife supports honoring his friend's memory with her whole heart. After this he puts even more work into his plans. He knows what will happen and when time comes he is going to be ready. The time comes too soon. 3/6
YZY would never settle lower than one of the great five sects. She marries into the Wen ruling family. Hearing about JFM's successful marriage brings out the worst in her. She spits hate about these that should be taken to heel, showed their place and taught a lesson about bowing to their betters. She questions how such a clan can put itself before those of better heritage. She fuels the gossip about Jiang striving to take Wen's rightful place in the cultivation world. 4/6
Strong and growing YMJ is a sore spot in the eye of WRH so he encourages her bloodthirst. YZY puts fear in whoever she can, threatens and leverages her clan connections whenever she can. All to spite JFM. She promises Jin’s submission to WRH for giving her free rein of his forces. She ensures through her closest friend Madam Jin, that Jins and smaller sects under them will not go against her plans. Then she brings the Wen army to the YMJ long before JFM expected.5/6
JFM stands again on the same battlefield, with the same woman, just like in the previous life. Only this time around with swords pointed at each other. 6/6

if you post an image in discord itll round the corners, but once you hit a certain smallness it rounds into a circle. so basically if you make an image that is 32x32 and you post it in discord itll go from this
Tumblr media
to this.
Tumblr media
so you basically can just draw a little face in mspaint or something and paste it into discord and itll look like a little emoji. you can potentially mess around with this a lot, its proportional to your image going smaller and it doesnt have to be a square either.

i HATE when people say it’s wrong to like a morally screwed up character. like dottore for example, i will punt him into a wall bc of what he did to our lil cauliflower, but i’m still a little intrigued to know why he’s the way he is.
it’s not like people are condoning it in irl situations (and if you are, we need to talk 😭) anyways, i digress and shall end off on a positive note:

seeing ppl go "lol jonathan why are you admitting you found them hot what will mina think of you when she reads it!!!" has me go "*shakes you* you are going against the thesis of the book!!!"
I know some of why is dependent on knowledge of future events, and so people new to Dracula Daily won't be aware of it. But to be honest, Jonathan admitting his attraction to the vampire ladies is so, so important to me. On several different character levels, even outside of the entire book proving over and over again that sharing knowledge is absolutely vital (and is also an expression of deep love/trust/support).
Let's just stick the quote in here for reference:
There was something about them that made me uneasy, some longing and at the same time some deadly fear. I felt in my heart a wicked, burning desire that they would kiss me with those red lips. It is not good to note this down, lest some day it should meet Mina's eyes and cause her pain; but it is the truth.
Firstly - he needs to keep an accurate record. This is his only place to speak freely, his only opportunity to be precise about what he is going through. It is vitally important for him to keep his sanity intact that he be clear and try to remain logical in this diary. We see him fact-checking again and again. We can extrapolate from other statements that he doesn't always mention everything he suspects unless he feels it relevant or possible to prove. For example, repeatedly noting Dracula himself doing things before ever getting around to voicing the theory that the Count has no servants (he collected evidence first, didn't speak his suspicions until they were proven). Or putting the crucifix above his bed and taking the opportunity to sleep elsewhere, thus pointing to feeling unsafe and possibly experiencing bad dreams in his own room (he mentioned what he does about it, but not the feeling on its own or whatever nightmares he may be having). Jonathan works very hard to keep his diary focused on a few things above all: what the Count/ladies are, what everyone does, what Jonathan observes or learns, his actionable plans. He of course expresses his fears and emotions at times in his diary, more than he can out loud, but never going all the way down the rabbithole of fear, hopelessness, etc. He tries to calm himself by sticking to facts (all the harder when something strange is happening), which is in itself a soothing process for him so that's helpful too. His goal is to make this diary useful to himself and to others, if he ever gets the chance to share it. There is a goal here.
And what that means, is that the things Jonathan writes in great detail are things that feel relevant to him. The entire encounter with the vampire ladies was extremely important. It revealed a ton of new information to him, as well as being a truly horrifying and traumatic thing to go through. Jonathan's feelings are as relevant as his observations/actions here, because both are directly affected by the presence of the vampire women. Jonathan can't move. He feels dreamy. He feels attracted to them. He cannot resist and in the moment a large part of him didn't even want to. These are all effects they are causing, at least to some extent. I know mileage can vary a lot on how much of Jonathan's attraction is just coming from him, but honestly, I can't agree with any version that doesn't have a natural attraction at the very least being exacerbated by supernatural vampire abilities somehow. If not caused or called forth by them in the first place. The way he narrates, with so much obvious fear and revulsion mixed in with the desire, makes that clear to me. He sounds like he doesn't fully understand his own feelings at the time, at least where they all came from or why they were so strong. It goes along with all the other symptoms he is experiencing, and the other abilities they demonstrate. And so, to keep his record accurate - it has to go in. He cannot leave it out. It might become very relevant later.
Secondly - Jonathan is honest with Mina, specifically. I love this about their relationship. I don't think it's so much 'I noticed they were attractive' that he fears might hurt her, because Mina isn't particularly shy herself about noticing both women and men as good-looking, and even admiring their looks while on a date with Jonathan (poor Pretty Girl in Piccadilly). He also called local women pretty in his first entry as well (though he did say "except when you got near them" so it felt a bit backhanded to me), so again it's not the noticing that's an issue either way. It's more that he felt actual desire to act on an attraction, or rather for them to act. This is unusual, this is a separate matter from noticing people are hot, this is something that comes much closer to cheating or at least wanting to, and he feels very guilty about it. There's no real sense that he is worried Mina will be angry at him, and there's no sense that he will ever outside of that one moment ever want to act on any attraction he feels for someone other than Mina (or someone Mina also approves of, varying depending on your polycula headcanons). I personally do kind of tend to view Jonathan as some form of demisexual so how much he even tends to feel attraction to other people is often a little wibbly to me, but that's kind of irrelevant for the point of this. We can also set aside the shared language of "kiss" between Jonathan and the vampire ladies, and how this may point to a desire to become available for being drunk from, rather than necessarily sexual desire specifically, even if that's the type of language used. With regards to Mina: he's not worried about being caught, because he is choosing not to hide. He feels bad talking about the attraction because it might hurt her feelings, but he'll admit to it regardless because it's more important to him to be honest with her. Jonathan hates hiding things from Mina. This actually becomes plot-relevant later on. Even when she herself expressly forbids him from telling her stuff, he feels anguished about it and is certain to ensure that records are kept which she can read later. He trusts her completely. Embarrassment, shame, bad behavior, or whatever else - he will still share that with her. The only times he doesn't confide in Mina are when he's trying to repress everything because he thinks he was crazy (and possibly may even have some PTSD-related memory loss as well), or when he and the other men are trying to make sure she isn't exposed to danger (which is wrong in several ways but this post isn't about that so I won't get into it), and of course when she tells him not to. Every single time he feels upset about it. So yeah, he's going to regret that she may feel hurt, but deliberately hiding things from her would be worse.
Thirdly - Jonathan admitting his attraction here is a huge comfort to Mina later on. I truly believe this. I've talked about it before actually, but let me try to rephrase a bit to keep it on the same post. By being open about his own attraction and experience with nearly being drunk from, he provides precedent for Mina's October 3rd trauma. It makes it easier (though obviously still not easy) for her to admit to the same kind of desire:
"I was bewildered, and, strangely enough, I did not want to hinder him. I suppose it is a part of the horrible curse that such is, when his touch is on his victim."
Mina never blamed Jonathan for expressing such thoughts. She wasn't concerned about the issue being another woman when she came to him in the hospital, and when she read his diary she never mentioned any hesitations or misgivings about this scene at all. But even if she had secretly felt upset before (I personally don't see her thinking that way at all, but for the sake of argument), I think that experiencing something similar would make her grateful for Jonathan's candor. In a moment when she's already feeling deeply unclean and complicit, Jonathan's earlier honesty here relieves her from a little bit of the guilt she is feeling. It lets her recognize her own lack of desire to stop Dracula as something he did to her, just like Jonathan experienced with the vampire ladies when he couldn't/didn't want to move away. It's possible even that Mina felt more explicit desire for Dracula's 'red lips to kiss her' but didn't feel comfortable saying quite that much - even if so, again Jonathan's account would be a comfort.
And having that account written down long ago means she has already internalized this. If Jonathan had kept it hidden only to try and ease her mind later, well... first off, Mina too might have kept her reaction hidden out of guilt. And even if she didn't or he told her then, a confession at that time wouldn't mean nearly as much or carry the same kind of weight, I don't think. It would feel like he's making excuses for her, like he didn't trust her enough to tell her earlier, just... bad stuff mixed in, which are all avoided by having Jonathan be truthful from the start.

(Feel free to ignore this-! I’m just happy to hear someone’s deep takes on Zelda)
I really love your deep dives and interpretations/discussions on the Gerudo people and their history, influence and life in BOTW/TOTK (I totally agree with all you’ve said)
I just want to ask/Point out (after reading your imperialism post about TOTK) didn’t the Zora for many years like- not want to serve or be a part of the Hylian families army either? Like, even before Mipha’s death, weren’t the Zora very much against conforming to the Hylian’s rules and such? (In every game?) I’m a bit confused on how Hyrule is split up, the Zora’s having their own kingdom(s), the Rito and Goron’s having elder’s/their own leaders but still serving the royal family??
It’s always bothered me how these separate races all still have statues to the Goddess Hylia (Started in BOTW) and not their own deity’s to pray to or follow (Like the Zora praying to Nayru makes sense, or even something like Jabu Jabu to bring back- or the Rito could’ve prayed to Valoo, a great dragon or something.)
It just feels like Nintendo COULD’VE put so much care into all their races stories and histories! But oops no this game will be for Kids(TM) and we can’t put anything too deep or serious. Makes me sad :( I wanted to see them in a deeper context.
Oh yeah, it's very weird that they just put zero effort into explaining some of the worldbuilding. I mean, in BOTW it makes perfect sense to have the races be off doing their own things! It's post apocalypse, Hyrule does not exist anymore, these different communities have no real reason to interact with each other! And I really liked that BOTW outright showed that there was no particular effort for diplomacy, but people still got along as individuals - I liked that we saw different races hanging around each other. I loved that there were Gerudo in Goron Town to trade for their gems, I loved that Goron were allowed into Gerudo Town because they're a race of rock people that legitimately don't have any real need for gender and just use masculine terms by their own choice, and the Gerudo understood that. And I loved the whole Tarrey Town sidequest, because it actually felt really satisfying to build up a new town that had inhabitants from all the races, not for any particular reason, but just because they were people that wanted to live there and work together. They didn't need a big central government to make it a whole Thing; they were just getting by.
And we also saw the less good side of these things, like that one guy in Hateno that greeted you at the gate, and decided Link was trustworthy specifically because he was Hylian, making it clear that xenophobia still existed. I like that Kass was kind of thrown by Link asking if he was a giant bird, and the implication that Link was being kinda insensitive there and Kass was choosing not to be offended. I liked that there was a Hylian couple on their honeymoon in Rito village because the guy genuinely loved the town and its culture, while his new wife looked down on the Rito and hated being around them. And I liked that the older Zora still held a grudge against Hyrule for many things, up to and including the fact that Mipha died defending it, and the older generation would rather risk everyone's wellbeing than accept help from a Hylian that had been involved. And I like that you can run into other Hylian's near Zora's domain that outright tell you Zora have been trying to recruit them to do something important, but they all refused to get involved because they don't think that those weird fish people could have anything serious going on and it all seemed really sketchy.
My point is, BOTW really did feel like it'd been a hundred years since the end of the world, and everyone was just trying to get by and live their lives. You saw people being open minded and accepting other races for no other reason than the fact that they were all people, and you saw people being petty and bigoted just because they didn't trust people that looked and acted differently from them, but for the most part people were all just getting by and doing their own thing. BOTW gave the impression that Hyrule had been an equal alliance between the Hylian's, Zora, Goron, Rito and Gerudo (and with the Sheikah having a considerably less equal role, specifically built on the Sheikah having been forced to submit to cultural genocide to save their own lives, and the Yiga clan being the survivors that fought back instead), with Hyrule acting as sort of the core of the alliance, if only due to literally being in the geographic middle.
I mean fuck, the existence of the Divine Beasts suggests that things are equal! Yeah, Hyrule has a royal family with holy powers due to literally being the descendants of a Goddess, and they're the ones that always get the reincarnation of the Hero that's the only one who can wield the bullshit OP magic sword... but they don't get a Divine Beast (Link's dinky little DLC motorcycle doesn't count). The Divine Beasts were specifically made to be weapons of mass destruction, and they were specifically made for the non-Hylian races. That really does suggest an active effort being taken to balance the scales, that the ancient people saw that only Hylian's were granted divine favour, and so if the gods wouldn't give that power to other races, they'd fucking make it themselves. The existence of the Divine Beasts feels like a promise to keep everyone on equal footing, and say what you will about pre-Calamity Hyrule, but they didn't even question keeping that promise.
...And then in TOTK, all of that's just gone. The Sheikah aren't their own people with a complicated relationship to the throne, now they're just Hylian's with a different aesthetic. The 'alliance' between the races turns out to be built on Hyrule's first King and Queen pointing their stockpile of magical nukes at everyone and asking them politely to become their subjects, and pretending not to notice the implied threat that they'd magically nuke anyone who refused. In BOTW the Sheikah race being sworn servants of the Hylian royal family was acknowledged as a fucked up situation, and that power imbalance being horribly abused in the past was what created the Yiga clan. In TOTK, we're outright told that Rito, Goron, Zora and Gerudo all exist for the sole purpose of serving the Hylian royal family, and that is framed as a good thing and the proper way of the world; the first sign of Ganondorf being evil is that he refuses to submit.
And even putting all that super gross ancient past stuff aside, the present day is equally fucked. Hyrule has been gone for a century. In BOTW, few people even remembered that Zelda had ever existed, and of those people not many of them cared. Nobody was really interested in having a central government, they were all getting by just fine on their own. And again, it was made pretty clear that the pre-calamity situation had been an actively maintained collective alliance between independent nations. There was a reason that people were predicting that Hyrule's monarchy would be abolished in TOTK, and that's because we all saw that there was literally no reason for anyone other than the Sheikah to respect Zelda's authority as a ruler - the Zora were the only other people to still remember her, and they were completely done with the Hylian royal family anyways. If Zelda rolled up declaring herself the Queen of Hyrule anywhere else, she'd be laughed out of town, because that's the standard response to a random teenager showing up and informing you she was actually the highest authority in the land. Zelda had no inherent authority left at the end of BOTW, if she wanted to be in charge, she'd need to earn it. That's the state of the world that we were shown.
Except nope, nevermind, Zelda's the almighty God Princess of the world and literally everyone mindlessly accepts her ultimate authority. She can order people to strip naked and walk into a monster den to die for her amusement, and they would immediately do it without asking any questions (yes I know the underwear thing was a misunderstanding, but the fact that everyone jumped to follow the misheard order without a single question is horrifying). And the imposter Zelda arc just hammers home the point that Zelda is in a completely unearned, lifelong position as dictator of the world, and literally nobody cares if she abuses that power. Zelda brainwashed Yunobo and forced him to ruin his own business and nearly destroy his own people? He's just worried she'll be angry that the mask keeping him brainwashed was destroyed. Zelda summons a giant monster to attack Yunobo and Link then walks away? Oh my god, the giant monster Zelda just summoned to kill us might hurt her, we have to save Zelda from it! Zelda literally openly attacks King Dorephan and tries to murder him? He'd rather go missing in the middle of a crisis and suffer alone in hiding than let anyone know that Zelda just tried to kill him. I don't understand why they bothered with the fake Zelda arc, because literally nothing the fake Zelda does is allowed to have consequences.
It just doesn't make any goddamn sense. Nobody feels real anymore, there's no politics between the races, there's no reason for anything being the way it is now. The entire world of Hyrule has been reduced to just Zelda's Fanclub, and nobody would ever consider doubting her for a second. I don't understand why the fake Zelda arc is in the game, because it's never actually allowed to be part of the story. Nobody actually cares about 'Zelda' tormenting people, and so we're told that there is literally nothing that can possibly happen to make Zelda lose her authority. There's no stakes. We're not supposed to care about anyone who isn't Zelda, we're not given any real reason to care about Zelda herself, and so why the fuck are we still here?
...I've distracted myself a lot here lmaoo, I'm not really sure where I was going with all of this beyond just rambling about shitty writing and bad continuity. The point is, BOTW had some really good writing and worldbuilding. That Hyrule felt like a real place inhabited by actual people, and the different races were their own, independent people. When they worked together, it was a sign of them putting time and effort into reaching out to each other and meet on the same level. Meanwhile TOTK feels like it's made of fucking cardboard most of the time.
(Also for the record I agree that the Goddess statues being Literally Everywhere was kinda fucked, BUT I'm willing to let it slide as a matter of just game design; that's where you go to trade spirit orbs for upgrades, so you want a spot to do that in every major town for player convenience. And using different deities in different areas wouldn't work, because the players are introduced to the mechanic with a goddess statue; they're not gonna naturally assume that the statue of a giant fish can do that too, so most of them would assume the statue is scenery and just ignore it. I thought it was at least a nice touch that the goddess statues had different decorations in some towns, and that some towns put the statues away from the main areas; it gave the impression that while everyone while worshipping Hylia was widespread, everyone was doing it differently, and in some places it wasn't very popular - just look at the Kakariko statue being in the middle of town with a well maintained pond surrounding it and torches to draw more attention to it, then compare that to the Gerudo Town statue being down a side street on the edge of town, away from the main gate, with nothing of any real importance nearby, and nothing to get people's attention. It really works with the Sheikah's culture being built on their devotion to the Goddess, while the Gerudo's history with Hylia and her followers is a lot more complicated, and so their statue's location implies that worship of Hylia is pretty unpopular among the Gerudo.)

BAE do you write for eddie vedder because i’m having thoughts about your first time with eddie and i’m dying ‼️
SAW THIS IN MY NOTIFS AND NEARLY SCREAMED YES YES YES I DO WRITE FOR EDDIE. IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. anyway. first time with THIS eddie w a younger reader and he’s so much more experienced than you….. woah.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like bearded older!eddie does something to me my ovaries are crying. COUGH. anyway.
the two of you have been together for a few months now. the two of you haven’t done anything besides some heavy petting so far, as you established you wanted to take things slow with him. eddie of course was fine with whatever you wanted from him. nights with him would end with you falling asleep on top of him on yours or his couch, him waking you up just to take you to bed. tonight however, was different.
you’d been psyching yourself up all night, you felt like you were ready to take things to the next level with him. eddie had been so patient with you so far… so loving. you trusted him.
fast forward to your current position, eddie leaning over you on your couch after your usual friday night movie. one hand leaning on the armrest while the other cups your cheek, kissing you deep and slow. youre making these pretty noises into the kiss that are driving him wild, and then suddenly you move your legs to wrap around his waist, pulling his pelvis to yours to grind against him. eddie makes a surprised, punched out noise before pulling back. you look up at him, eyes wide and boring into his.
“what do you want from me, honey?” he asks so sweetly, you might melt.
“wanna go all the way with you tonight, eds,” you say just above a whisper.
“yeah, baby? you trust me?” he’s still panting hard from your kisses, smile spreading across his face. you nod enthusiastically, and eddie excitedly scoops you up off the couch, making you squeal in surprise. he carries you bridal style into his bedroom. planting sweet kisses on your lips as he moves through his apartment. he lays you down on his bed so gently, crawling over you and kissing you again.
“how do you want it?”
“don’t care, i just want you.”
“i like the sound of that. lift your arms for me, baby. wanna see those pretty tits.” you have no bra underneath the t-shirt you’re wearing. you lift your arms and eddie’s eyes go to the size of saucers when he gets a good look at you. “fuck…” he immediately brings his mouth down to one of your nipples, licking and sucking until you’re writhing under him, rubbing your legs together to get the littlest bit of stimulation. eddie moves down your body, pulling your pants down and helping you kick them off, leaving you in your lacy panties.
“expecting something tonight?” eddie shoots you a sly smile and your face heats up, giving a small nod. “awh honey, i’m flattered. look so beautiful. can i take them off, though? wanna make you cum.” you respond by reaching down to shimmy your underwear down your legs. eddie aiding in the process once again before looking down at you and licking his lips like he’s a dog looking at his meal.
he leans down, pressing a light kiss to your clit, and you throw your head back. you had only been with one other person before, and it hadn’t been like this. no, definitely not like this: so full of love and affection. you groan as eddie licks a broad stripe up your slit before parting your lips with his tongue, dipping into your hole before he leans back up to your clit again. you guide your hands down to his hair, pulling hard when he swirls his tongue in a way that makes your head spin, beard rubbing against you so deliciously. he moans into you. gripping your thigh with one hand and pushing two fingers into you with the other, making you yank his hair harder and let out a silent scream.
once eddie deems you ready for him, he removes himself from you to remove his own clothes. he pulls down his pants and underwear and… woah. okay. that’s a lot. he eyes you gawking at him.
“i’ll go slow with you. don’t worry. you’re gonna feel good,” eddie would never make you uncomfortable. you know that he’s focused on your pleasure tonight. he leans back over you and rubs his cock up against your hole, the tip sliding over your clit before he presses in, slowly inching until he reaches the hilt. his mouth drops open, the feeling of you so tight around him intoxicating. he leans down until his entire body is pressed into yours, slowly inching his hips in little circles to get you used to him, until you bring your legs up around his waist and pull him down, urging him to move more.
“fuck, been waiting for this for so long. wanted to have you like this for so long. look at you…. fuck you’re so beautiful. making me feel so good. atta girl.. keep squeezing me like that.” the mantra of praises and dirty talk doesn’t stop. you’re crazy for it, moaning into his mouth when he kisses you. he lets out his own moans and groans into your ear. cradling your neck so your face is buried in his shoulder as his is in yours. you’re both reduced to incoherent messes, caught up in each other and reaching your highs.
“eddie… i’m gonna cum!”
“yeah? i can feel you squeezing me. you’re so close. want you to cum on my cock. wanna feel you squeezin’ me. know you can do it. give it to me.” you let out a high whine as you climax, eddie holding you close and grinding into you. letting you come down before he pulls out of you to cum all over your stomach with his own mantra of moans, “fuck, ohhhh fuck.. oh baby…” and then he’s gone as well, making even more of a mess of you.
his breathing syncs and evens with yours. his beard is still soaked in your juices, as is his pelvis. you’ll clean up later, though. now you wanna sleep. you beckon eddie to come to you, in which he does. sliding right into your arms like he was meant to be there his whole life.
“thanks for trusting me.”
“always trust you.” your eyes close, and you feel eddie press a kiss to the side of your neck.

In Untamed-verse, WWX collapses immediately after the death of WRH. Imagine if you will, that this is not just the exhaustion of wielding the Yin Tiger Seal, but because WRH has posted possessed him, and they are fighting for control of WWXs body. In Untamed-verse, WRH is also a powerful demonic cultivator who has just died a violent death, ripe for becoming a powerful resentful spirit. Imagine that 3 days later, the person who wakes up in control of WWXs body—and the Yin Tiger Seal, which is not loyal to any one master—is WRH, with WWX trapped as a helpless witness...

Wanted to mention the lyrics to the BSD 5 opening and their significance to a specific scene
Tumblr media
「立ち止まる事でしか見えない場所が」
A place that can only be seen by stopping [movement]
Tumblr media
「行けない場所がある」
There are places you can't go.
-
So when showing the rift between Atsushi and Akutagawa (life and death), the lyrics mention the afterlife. A place only Akutagawa can see, after death. Then, "there are places you can't go."
From Akutagawa's perspective, it would be "I am in a place only seen after death. You can't come to this place; you can't follow me."
From Atsushi's perspective, this would be "You are somewhere that I can't see, that I can't reach. You can't go there [you can't leave me]."
[Don't go where I can't follow]

putting these together because they're clearly related. i admit these have me a little bit stumped, but i'll take this in good faith and do my best! under the cut because of length.
topics include: physiological reactions to fiction, emotional reactions/empathy of creators, and finally addressing the unspoken question present in asks like this.
"is it normal to have a physiological reaction (heart beat, jitters, excitement, sadness, etc) to fiction"
absolutely! i cannot overstate how common it is to have reactions of any wide variety to fiction. the whole point of storytelling is to make you feel things! the reactions you have, their intensity, and the specific media or genre you'll have those reactions to will vary person to person. in regards to angst in particular, like i've said on this topic before: reactions will vary. some people might get excited, others might get sad, others might feel it like a gut punch but in a really good and cathartic way. none of these are better or worse or more normal or more abnormal than the other.
"do i as a creator have an emotional reaction to the work i'm creating?"
i personally do, sure. i was actually quite explicit in the tags of the comic that came right before this ask that i found it hard to draw, because seeing kirby so sad was emotionally pulverising to me. do all creators? no. do i feel a strong emotional reaction to all scenes? no. or all types of content creation? no. for me, prose is actually much easier to tackle than illustration; i can write trauma and suffering and psychological devastation until the cows come home, but drawing it is a different matter. consuming the work of others is different again. and this is different for everybody. am i somehow morally better or more empathetic than an artist that doesn't struggle to draw characters sad? hell no! being able to represent- in fiction- a strong emotion generally requires that you empathise with or at least understand that emotion. sometimes creators actually have to be able to turn this off to be able to create the content we make; the way we turn off strict adherence to reality in order to write fantasy. if we couldn't do this, content across the board- art, movies, novels- would be flattened to nothing but the cheeriest and most mediocre parts of our day to day lives. no fun monsters (because those aren't real). no challenges to rise above (because those make us sad). no characters who have different experiences to us (because how could we imagine or feel for that). and it would be okay for like... twenty minutes of all books containing 'the sun was shining and i woke up on time and had a yummy breakfast', but then it would suck, sorry. conflict and imagination are the root of content.
"it's just a question I had in mind".
a way to think about this might be; would you ask these questions about genres that aren't angst? would you ask "is it normal to be happy when these characters finally reunite" or "is it normal to feel resolution in response to a happy ending" or "is it normal to feel excitement when a character has their cool hero moment". perhaps it's because your reaction to angst is something you construe as negative, but if you wouldn't doubt your reactions to cheerful content, then there's no reason to doubt the reactions you have to angst either; these are just reactions! fiction is designed to make us feel things, but what you feel will be up to you. no one feeling or response is better or worse than any others.
lastly, i feel like there is an unspoken question here that i don't like.
and maybe you didn't intend it. i'm going to extend that grace to you, and because you seem to need reassurance about this (though i will not be reassuring about this further. i do not like reassurance seeking from strangers and this is a boundary i am setting right now), this is not an attack or even a criticism. your questions are fine if they are coming from a place of curiosity and- i simply assume- that these are new or difficult concepts to you that you have yet to have explored or explained.
but on the good faith assumption you didn't intend it, and wouldn't want to do this again (especially if you message other creators), i think you should be aware.
because it sounds like this: "do the people who make sad/angsty/dark content care at all or are you heartless to the suffering (of these characters). is angst/dark content made by bad people?" i felt it the previous time i got a question like this too when it explicitly stated "you seem like a nice person", as if being a nice person was in contrast with what i was creating.
please. we are just people. the relative light or darkness of the content you make says absolutely nothing about your morals, your real life attitudes, or your ability to be an empath.
someone making cute animal art could be a school yard bully. someone writing a complex sci-fi warhorror fic could be the most altruistic and compassionate soul in the world.
in my experience, creators are some of the most empathetic people i have ever met, and many of them know their craft intimately. these are people capable of stepping into the shoes of others as easily as breathing. of sitting down at their work station every day and finding inside themselves a way to answer "how would this really feel?" so clearly and honestly that they can put it onto the paper for you to feel it too.

cloud-based-and-rainpilled replied to your post "Don't know if it means anything but GT's post on…“
It reeks of vaguebooking to me, a la MS posting an “uwu i like a boy” twitter post after publically having a swooping dramatic hug with DT. the “awks” is prob a bit of self deprecating self awareness, but in a light way, but I wouldn’t put it past actors of all people to still vaguebook as fullass adults and not 12 year olds on livejournal circa 2007 lol
@cloud-based-and-rainpilled I am honestly floored at the number of people who responded to this post saying that it was just a joke/accusing me of having no sense of humor. At no point did I say that Georgia sharing that Insta story wasn't a joke or her being self-deprecating. I'm sure that it was, but to your point about it being vaguebooking, the "Awks" is ambiguous enough to where it could be read as either "Awks because David and I are happy and I post about him often but we're proof that this isn't true" or as "Awks because I post about him often and this actually is true." To me it felt like a version of that meme that shows multiple choice answers to a question with "I'm in this picture and I don't like it" checked off. Which is to say that yes, it was self-deprecating, but that doesn't mean it can't also be true.
Adding to the point about senses of humor and jokes not being readily apparent, I have posted previously on my blog about things Georgia has said/done that I thought were hilarious and enjoyed, because sometimes she is quite funny. So I am perplexed as to why I can readily acknowledge when Georgia is funny, but so many other folks seem hesitant or unwilling to acknowledge when she isn't? Echoing a comment left by @angelsadvocate96, there does seem to be a facet of British comedy that borders on cruel, but there is a marked difference between when that comedy comes at the expense of the person joking, or the expense of others. Again, in this case, Georgia was being self-deprecating, but some of her humor does come at the expense of others, and that is what I ultimately dislike. And for some reason that I don't fully understand, it seems so controversial to point out something very simple and obvious...
