kinda want to put ianthe and abigail pent in a jar together and shake them around a little. something about the afforded eccentricity when you have a secure position of power but are not (or no longer are) the next in line to rule.

I have a lot of (mostly negative) thoughts about Wattpad, but everything that's happening over there w/r/t another fandom purge is why AO3 exists in the first place. It's sad to watch another cycle of queer and sexual art get removed because of Corporate Values, regardless of my personal opinions.
Everyone unfamiliar should do their Fanlore homework on Purges, starting with the infamous FFN purges.

I was looking at all the Pietro della Vigna conversation illustrations the other day and felt compelled to draw a whole bunch of lines because this canto has been rattling around in my head for 10 years now and oh man, Gustave Doré knows how to make an illustration that'll set my brain on fire

It's ok to write 'cringey' fanfiction. It's what makes fandom/fanfiction charming and fun.
An attempt at a gentle reminder that it's ok for you yourself to write something that is imperfect and something others don't/won't vibe with.
And anything you yourself make is 1000 more in the spirit of fanfiction than if you have a AI write a fanfiction for you.
The same goes for AI art but that's a slightly different topic. At the end of it: writing and drawing both take practice, and we all start at our own levels, but we will only improve through getting our own hands a little dirty with practice.
Part of the fun of creating fandom content is the growth we see in the artists creations; so to emphasize again, it's ok if things you personally made aren't perfect because it's all part of the experience of fandom.

Imagine you are at an open mic night. and imagine you are performing a monologue about some sort of personal experience, or are telling a story, or are making an argument. And imagine that as you do this, you make some sort of analogy. Say, "Tensions erupted like volcanoes." And now imagine someone in the audience, maybe someone you know, maybe someone you don't, yells out "hey did you know that volcanoes frequently form at tectonic rifts and some examples of volcanic archipelagoes are the Hawaiian Islands, the Philippines, and Indonesia?"
When you add tangential lore facts to a meta post this is what you are doing. You are turning in a math problem set but we're in literature class. You aren't wrong on the technical facts; you are so, so wrong about the context.
