Hi everybody, I’ve been thinking about lucky items recently. Do you have an item, article of clothing, or trinket that has brought you good luck? Do you wear/keep it in your pocket to an almost religious extent? How did you get it? How has it been lucky for you? If you want, re-blog with your photos and stories. I’ll go first:
This is my lucky hat. It is a Tilly hat. My grandfather gave it to my father, who then left it in the closet for almost 10 years. I found it and took it because he seems to not have any use for it. I now wear it whenever I go hiking. Not only is it great protection from sunburns, but I find that I have better luck birdwatching when I wear it . It also makes me very confident.
The hellsite is eating my posts again. We'll see what gets through.
Edit: this one made it! You've asked for a house tour, I hope this isn't boring. There's some rooms that I don't include because I'm working on stuff and don't want to show the mess. This is still not that tidy but it's... tolerable mess. The audio is just Clair de Lune, no narration. I can answer questions if you have them; I'm always happy to talk about my million hobbies and the house is...definitely one of them.
I could also do a photo post for anyone who doesn't want to watch the whole thing.
as a 16th century clergyman what does machete think of the printing press
I think by the time he was born the printing press had been around for almost a century and a half, so I'd reckon the society as a whole was largely past it's initial novelty and controversy. Machete himself is bookish and nerdy, he's very invested in gathering knowledge about various topics and trying to piece together a good picture of how the world works. Getting access to reading material would be a lot harder if every book was still copied individually by hand. His standards are pretty high though, there's a lot of poorly translated, shoddily printed and flimsily bound books around and he's prone to scrunching his nose at them.
aro culture is getting so fucking tired of people using the fact that there's a queer romance in something as a reason you should watch it. like haven't allos had enough of romance? queer or otherwise? I'm not saying queer representation is bad, of course, I'm just fed up with asking what a book is about and in response all I get is "oh it has queer people in it" cool! what is it about? having queer representation is not the be all end all of media can we please have ONE thing without romance in it. please.
Did you know that I think in ultra sun and moon that lusamine and gladion see mohn earlier than this, at least according to what I think is this story's timeline as it has lusamine meet mohn and decide not to remind him instead of gladion. Still a good story, just curious.
I saw that secret ending and while I think letting him go was a good choice, I'm just not a big fan of how they executed it. Overall there were a lot of writing choices in USUM I had a problem with, while other moments I appreciated. It's a shame how they tried to downplay Lusamine as a villain and an manipulative, abusive parent and instead made her a "sympathetic anti-hero".
I like that they added interactions between Hau and Guzma, but Hau having to "grow up" by becoming more serious instead of just enjoying battles I'm also not a hUGE fan of in its execution, because I think Hau should be able to be both. Serious when he needs to be but otherwise upbeat and lighthearted like he used to be. I think just having FUN battling is OKAY and Hau's optimism and joy is in my opinion one of his greatest strengths as a character. He lights up the room! :D
This is why I continue to stick to the original Sun and Moon storyline and don't include anything introduced in USUM, except for maybe some of the additional Pokemon some characters get.
