Nova & Star-Lord being two different flavors of tragic veterans under Abnett & Lanning really sticks with me.
Pete’s been serving for so long that all the hard stuff is commonplace, but he’s tired and desperate for an ending. Rich had enough really bad shellshocks and was forced to change so fast it isolated him from almost everyone he knew.
Both of them only find community amongst their fellow soldiers against Annihilation.

How would you describe earth’s position in the galactic landscape in marvel? Budding galactic power? Well connected and influential city state? Important crossroads? An upstart filled with dangerously overpowered individuals? All of the above? I know the recent Krakoa saga has done a lot to develop sol’s position in the Galaxy , leapfrogging earth by developing Arrako mars
Tumblr media
I would say Earth is seen as something of a puzzle - this puny, technologically backwards planet that somehow has managed to defeat the most powerful space empires, now leads the Kree-Skull Alliance, and has forced the Devourer of Worlds to turn back time and again. At various times, Earth has been a leading force in galactic politics - organizing resistance to universal threats like the Builders or Thanos or the Annihilation Wave - and a total isolationist who bans aliens from their planet.
And yes, in recent years, the rise of Krakoa and Arrako has changed the position of Earth to being a somewhat secondary constituent of the Sol System - which is a significant motivation for quite a bit of ORCHIS, such as Feilong and Abigail Brand.

I bought the Guardians of the Galaxy game a while back (WAY before the Marvel strike was issued) and I’m finally playing it now.
I’m not finished, but here’s my thoughts thus far: not only is it actually really fun to play, so far it’s a better version of the movies (admittedly I haven’t seen the 3rd one).
The characters are frankly just written better: Star-Lord’s not annoying, Drax is taken seriously, Gamora has a personality… it’s awesome.
It utilizes Marvel’s cosmic side way better, where space feels HUGE and there’s crazy shit everywhere. And as a huge fan of Marvel’s cosmic comics, the existing lore they’ve utilized so far is refit in ways I find more compelling.
HIGHLY recommend this game.
