Hot take, but I think every new iteration of TMNT has something different to offer the fandom. One is not better than the other besides a fan’s personal preferences.

Like the fans of ‘87 turtles are always gushing about the pure comedic gold they had to offer.

2003 turtles gave us a darker, grittier view than had previously been in the cartoons, which is something you would’ve had to read in the comics before that.

2012 turtles combined the mood and tone of the 2003 show’s darker attitude for the villains, while maintaining a balance with the more ridiculous, comedic side of the cartoons.

Personally, I haven’t seen Rise! yet, but it’s on my to-do list, same with Mutant Mayhem.

However, from what I’ve seen on this site and in a few fan fictions, you guys seem to appreciate rottmnt’s commitment to a more modern cartoon style and tone without sacrificing the inherent voice of the characters, along with the role changes they gave to the turtles.

Fans of Mutant Mayhem seem to like the more teenager-y characterization of the turtles, having them be more relatable to the current generation of fans.

Correct me if I’m wrong on these analyses, but my general point still stands: each of these cartoons and every new version of the turtles brings something different to the table we fans feast at. Each new show brings in a new generation of fans, and each new fan brings new ideas into the fandom. That’s why TMNT as a whole had been able to keep going and producing more media for forty years now.

So instead of hating on each new version, as we are so wont to do as staunch supporters of our own personal favorite iteration, maybe we should try to find the thing that makes these new turtles so likable! What can they bring to the table that we haven’t seen before? What makes a whole new generation of fans fall in love with these turtles?

I dunno, I just think the fandom is always way too harsh with new fans and new shows (myself included, I wasn’t too happy when Rise! came out, but I’m over it now). We end up torturing ourselves over something useless, when we could be nurturing this new generation of fans to love all the turtles the same as we do.

there's just something about you writing his name on a piece of paper, it may sound stupid but being hopelessly in love with a person makes everything seem stupid because you tend to over think and analyse their whole existence. their view on their crush makes every single simple act they do seem significant compared to everyone else.

you would walk and you'd be seen as an angel for just getting up, you could fiddle with a pen and you'd be seen as flawless. but seeing any other person do the same? they're just there as pointless decoration compared to you.

brushing his finger across his name on the piece of paper makes him feel almost giddy about you simply knowing his full name, there's plenty of people that know his name and call out to him on a daily basis but you writing it down with your pen in your hand on your paper feels like he's far more acknowledged by you. and feeling acknowledged by a crush feels like growing wings.

you writing his name down means that you had thought of him, you don't write anyone's name down without thinking about them even for a split second. what did you think about him? do you think about him often? did you write his name and when he popped up in your head did you pause and continue thinking about him? did you think about him beforehand? did you say the syllables in his name carefully as your writing it?

when you wrote his name did you made sure to keep your hand writing neat? did you make sure to test out the pen beforehand to make sure the ink is flowing nicely?

all of these questions circled his mind, he was growing delusional over you, so much that it was making his crush on you to feel almost unmanageable. he even wished on framing that particular piece of paper, the frame would be gorgeous and in a colour/pattern that'd remind him of you.

He will just wrap his arms around in a bear hug, and set you on his lap. "What's wrong? Want to talk about it?"

Shinichiro

He will slightly panic but wrap you in a hug and not let you go until you look okay again. "I am here, we can hug all day, I will have Wakasa or someone open the shop."

Mikey

"COME'ERE YOU!" He will pick you up and spin you around before setting you down on the bed. It ends up with him, falling asleep on top of you instead of the other way around though.

Draken

He will wrap one arm around you, pulling you into his side. He won't really say much though, deciding to let you open when you are ready.

Baji

He won't hug you. "Are you hungry or something? Do I need to fight someone?"

Chifuyu

He will put in a movie or grab your favorite book, what would have been a simple hug turns into a cuddling date.

Wakasa

He will let you sit on his lap, your head against his chest. He will rub your back, scrolling on his phone.

Ran

"Yeah I do too, lets cuddle. I am tired." You aren't getting out of his hold until he wakes up.

Rindou

When you try and hug him, he may playfully push your head away with a finger as if he is disgusted. But if you look sad, he will pull you into his arms.

I...May or may not have been binging TMNT whilst working on projects. And uh. I got too many caps to count out of this

And...I may or may not have cut out Mikey in 5 mins to put him in any meme I want. (Done in PS and sized up x2 on the right, removed the blurryness via "sharp edges" filter, sorry I'm not a native English speaker, but that's approx what it was from German LOL)
