My Kristanna Halloween/Fall Fics
The Grandfather Clock (T)
There's a demonic presence in the house Anna inherited from her parents, who died in unexplained circumstances. Determined to sell it and be rid of the burden, she enlists the help of her ex-husband Hans and Honeymaren's paranormal investigation team, but she finds herself relying on the local sheriff's expertise instead. (T)
Iduna's Apple (T)
Kristoff had been giving Anna baskets of his best apples for her Harvest Day pies for years, but he was always too shy to express his affection in any other way. Everything changed, though, when Anna got a goat named Sven with a taste for apples.
The Headless Horseman, a Chilling Tale (M)
One Halloween night, Anna finally left her violent and controlling husband Hans and fled through the dark hedges, which were said to be haunted by a headless horseman in search of blood and heads, to get to her sister Elsa. While the headless horseman was only a legend, Anna's cruel husband was real. Will the horrors of the forest be worse than than the husband she left behind?
The Jakku Lantern (E)
It’s Kristoff, his Mandalorian helmet, and Olaf the Pumpkin King, against Raggedy Anna and Elsa AKA Maleficent, in a pumpkin carving contest judged by Sandy Claws Sven. Will Mando get a happy ending, despite the helmet that just won't budge, in this alternate version of the charades scene from Frozen II?
Ginger Sweet Love (M)
Anna and Kristoff get a second chance to tell each other how they feel when Kristoff shows up unexpectedly at Anna’s Halloween/Friendsgiving party. Let's hope 17 years later isn't 17 years too late.
Seeing is Believing, Hearing is Deceiving (M)
Anna Oldenburg lives in a 19th century fantasy world of romance and ghosts and is dedicated to preserving the memories of the past, while her somewhat estranged sister Elsa Frost, an ice cream artist, does everything she can to focus on the here and now. Anna falls for Kristoff, the building conservator and maintenance technician at the Victorian mansion hotels owned by the Oldenburg family, but her over-protective father Agnarr keeps them apart. Their lives get turned upside down when Kristoff discovers a skeleton in the closet. Anna works with Kristoff to uncover the mystery of the skeleton, but she'll need her sister's help to learn the secrets of the past that are the keys to saving Elsa's son Olaf. [I have plans to rewrite this one but it keeps getting put off.]

Appetizers
Final day, and I picked the prompt “Still waters run deep”... I wasn’t thinking of turning the rowing AU into a kristanna slowburn when I started out, but here we are...
Kristoff arrived at the boathouse in the morning for the race that day. Since it was a local race, everyone was meeting up at the boathouse, and the free bagels were definitely extra motivation to get there on time.
The coxswains were all standing near Kristoff discussing the river conditions. Friday’s fog had cleared, though the air was very still on Saturday morning for the regatta, along with the water appearing flat as glass.
“Well, you know what they say,” Olaf said, “still waters run deep.”
“What are you talking about?” Kristoff butted in. “That river is maybe five feet deep.  Haven’t you ever fallen in? You just stand up.”
“It’s a saying, I just thought it sounded cool,” Olaf explained.
“Right, right. Sorry, being a bit literal.”
“When we were in high school, they still made us decontaminate when we fell in,” Anna laughed. “Remember that, Elsa?”
Elsa laughed. “Maybe I fell in once?”
“Right!” Olaf said. “Anna fell in a lot, I remember that.”
“You fell in?” Kristoff smirked. “How?”
“I wasn’t a coxswain in high school,” Anna explained, “I rowed. And in case it’s not obvious, I’m not very big, so I got knocked out of the boat a lot.”
Kristoff nodded thoughtfully, sipping on his coffee.
“What about you?” Anna asked. “You don’t look like you could get knocked out of a boat.”
“Nope,” Kristoff replied.  “But we had a floating dock in college, and once a speed boat went by when I was standing at the edge and I slipped in.”
“Oh!” Anna exclaimed.
“I’ll be sure to warn you if I see anything coming,” Elsa laughed. “On that note, I’m going to go check in with Coach Mattias.”
“I’ll be there in a sec!” Anna called after her sister. “Just one more bagel.”
Anna went to grab a bagel at the back of the table. Kristoff realized he was a little too aware of the spandex uniform on her as she grabbed the food and ran off, and stared very intently at his coffee.
“Good luck today, Kristoff!” Olaf said cheerfully as he went to join the other coxswains with Coach Mattias.
The regatta went well, and none of their boats came in last. Once all the boats had returned from the finish line and everyone was back inside, it was approaching dinner time.
“We should go out and celebrate!” Olaf declared after they were putting everything away.
“Nobody won,” Hans muttered. “I don’t see the point.”
“Fine, you don’t need to come,” Elsa told him. “Where does everyone else want to go? Applebee’s?”
Hans wrinkled his nose, packing up his bag and heading out.
“Applebee’s is fine with me,” Kristoff said, and several of the others agreed.
The restaurant was a short distance from the boathouse, and even though Kristoff had gotten going fairly quickly, Anna was already there when he arrived.
“Hey, how’d you get here so quickly?” Kristoff asked.
“Did I? I suppose I did. I actually left right after the four was put away, since our race was earlier. I was at the coffee shop next door and Elsa texted me that a few people were planning to meet here.”
“Did she tell you who wasn’t coming?” Kristoff smirked.
Anna frowned. “What are you talking about?”
“Oh, a certain member of our boat made a bit of a stink about not coming,” Kristoff snorted. “I thought Elsa might have mentioned it.”
Anna gave half a grin. “I think I know who you mean. And, no, Elsa didn’t mention that, but I certainly won’t miss him.”
“Well, that’s good to hear,” Kristoff said. “He told me about you himself, by the way.  When he was drunk in my bed.”
“Wait, what?” Anna asked.
“No, not like that-” Kristoff laughed. “No, I found him there. He was so drunk he went into the wrong room. I left the door latch to keep the door open because Olaf kept getting locked out.”
“Ahhh,” Anna giggled. “I won’t judge.”
“Anyhow…” Kristoff cleared his throat.
“Yeah, I’d rather not talk about him. I was avoiding this-” she waved her hand vaguely, “because I knew he’d be around. I’m glad I came back. And I think I’ve kept my emotions in check.”
“I wouldn’t have known if he hadn’t said something, so don’t worry,” Kristoff said.
“Well, that’s good.” Anna smiled.  “But, really, let’s go sit at the bar and look at the menu. What’s your favorite?”
“I really don’t eat out much,” Kristoff admitted.
“It’s Applebee’s, it’s not really eating out,” Anna insisted.
“What do you recommend?”
“Don’t laugh,” Anna said, “but the appletini.”
“What’s that?” Kristoff asked.
“It’s like a martini, but not really. It’s super sweet.”
“I wasn’t really thinking about getting a drink here,” Kristoff admitted.
“It’s almost five, why not?”
Kristoff considered it. “You know, I think I might. As long as you can recommend some actual food.”
“Oh, yeah, I bet you’re hungry,” Anna said.  “We should get some appetizers so we’re not starting without everyone else.  Nachos? Onion rings?”
“It all sounds good.”

Anna for the character analysis game?
Tumblr media
@castintodarkness @nerdasaurus1200
My overall opinion on the character
Anna is hands down the best Disney heroine to date. She's not a a character to be placed on a pedestal as a perfect example for people to follow - instead, she's human. She makes mistakes, and triumphs over those mistakes. Anna stands up for what she knows is right, is willing to make hard sacrifices, and is also strong enough to admit when she's wrong.
One virtue they have
Her unconditional love - as said by the writers, its her superpower. It's through Anna's love for her sister, Kristoff, and her kingdom that she continuously saves the day.
One flaw they have
Anna feeling like she's expendable. "It's just me" she's says in Frozen 1, while in Frozen 2 she literally disregards her personal safety.
Favorite moment from their arc
The Next Right Thing - This song is pretty much a culmination of everything Anna has feared across the franchise. Her fear of being alone, with Elsa and Olaf gone and Kristoff missing, is realized. There's no hint of hope, no character telling her to 'not give up' - in Anna's perspective, and everything she fought for is no longer around. Anna be the only character I know of being put into this position, and watching her still get up and try to do the right thing, is not only inspiring but heartbreaking. It's a testament to her strength, and the strength of Chris Buck and Kristen Bell, who based this off of their personal experiences.
Least favorite moment from their arc
Anna being over-protective. She's absolutely valid in her fears, but I just didn't like seeing that side of her. Not that I thought it was written badly, and I do like that Anna is made to be wrong (just as Elsa is) so she'll be a well-rounded and realistic character. I just don't like seeing my fave being ugly haha.
One relationship they have with another character
Iduna - judging from what we've seen, Anna and Iduna had a very loving relationship, and Iduna kept Anna's hope alive that she would see her sister again (if you count True Treasure as canon). Anna definitely got her determination and motherly nature from Iduna.
One relationship I’d like to see explored from this character
I would like to see more exploration with Agnarr. I saw that one concept art of Agnarr hanging out with Anna, and now I'm stuck on the idea of Anna getting inspiration from him from his ruling days, and also things she would learn from his flaws.
What I would have liked to see happen with them in the media
Anna as a mother to a magical child. What she learned to do and not to do from Iduna and Agnarr, how her experiences in Frozen 1 and 2 effect how she raises this child.

The Jakku Lantern
Kristanna Halloween Days 2022Pumpkin Patch
Fandom: Frozen
Pairing: Kristoff/Anna; background Sven/Olaf
Rating: E
Summary: It’s Kristoff, his Mandalorian helmet, and Olaf the Pumpkin King, against Raggedy Anna and Elsa AKA Maleficent, in a pumpkin carving contest judged by Sandy Claws Sven. Will Mando get a happy ending, despite his wardrobe malfunction, in this alternate version of the charades scene from Frozen II?
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
“Excuse me, sir!  Hasn’t anybody ever taught you any manners?”  She folds her arms and stamps her foot, and she looks into his visor, as though she needs to see what lies beneath.
Kristoff’s heart beats faster, and, remembering the advantage of wearing his helmet, says bravely, “Maybe I need someone to teach me.”
Her mouth drops open just a bit, but her eyes fill with fire.  He holds his breath, not believing that those words just came out of his mouth.  An apology drips from his tongue, though he doesn’t trust himself to utter another syllable so he freezes.
Neither of them backs away until her boyfriend, who, fortunately, hadn’t heard what he said, puts his hands on top of her shoulders and rubs.  “Pardon us, Mando, but I believe this lady is free to go.  No bounty on her.”

Conversation
Anna: What made you give up the life of royalty as Queen?
Elsa: [a ripple effect appears around Elsa as she looks off into the distance]
Kristoff: What’s she doing?
Olaf: That’s a ripple dissolve. She must be having a flashback.
Anna: Does she know we can’t see it? Should we give her some privacy? I don’t know the protocol for flashbacks.
Elsa: [the ripple effect stops]
Anna: Is she back? She’s back.
Anna: Well, judging by the time you spent staring off into space I’m guessing something pretty bad.

Maybe this is super childish. But how about being Annas and Christoffers daughter. Like bing their daughter would include?
There's no such thing as too childish Anon, don't worry, I don't judge haha!
Being Anna and Kristoff's Daughter Would Include...
Tumblr media
First of all you need to be prepared for a lot of weirdness happening around and in the castle all the time
Being a Princess of Arendelle is already a lot, but you also deal with a talking snowman, an adorable reindeer, a family of rock trolls and of course your ice powered aunt
And that's not even saying anything about your parents
Anna is a very doting mother, since she lost hers when she was young she makes sure you know how much she loves you every day
However she never makes you feel like you're bound to the castle, she doesn't want to restrict your freedom because she'd seen what isolation did to Elsa and to herself to an extent
She just wants you to be careful
Kristoff loves taking you ice harvesting with him
Despite being the king he is still an ice harvester at heart
One of your favorite getaways is when the three of you just go and spend a few days in nature along with Olaf and Sven
Elsa visits quite often, you adore her powers and she loves to show off sometimes
Of course she was very careful around you when you were younger and only after you got a bit older did you find out about what happened to your mom when her and Elsa were kids, so you understood why Elsa was a little hesitant around you sometimes
You got your own reindeer that you like to take out for a ride around Arendelle
Sometimes Anna and Kristoff let you sneak off during a really long formal party if you get bored
Like your parents you have a quite adventurous spirit and would love to spend a few years traveling and exploring the other kingdoms

Why I don’t consider myself “Elsa critical.”
Sometimes, I write posts on this blog that are critical of Elsa’s arc in F2 or at least, critical of how that arc was executed. But I’ve always distanced myself from the term “Elsa critical” because I’ve sometimes seen “Elsa-critical” attitudes that are just... excuses to be overly negative towards Elsa and say bad things about her.
Now once, in the past, I wrote a post criticizing one of Elsa’s actions in F2 and, since I was letting my emotions get the better of me, I directed my anger more at Elsa than at the writing - even though Elsa is a fictional character and I wanted to make a point about a moment in the film that had dubious and possibly unintended character consequences. But someone reblogged that post with the statement, “Elsa never apologizes because Elsa never believes she’s done anything wrong” and my post was reblogged by people who seemed to hold the opinion that Elsa never apologizes for anything in general, even though there are countless examples across the films and shorts of Elsa apologizing and being considerate of other people’s feelings.
I tried to clarify that, “No, that wasn’t what I said,” but the version of my post with that addition was the one that people kept reblogging.
A similar incident occurred when a completely different person reblogged a gifset I made of the deleted where Elsa showed Anna the memory of her parents saying that “her love could hold up the world.”
Tumblr media
I’ve described this commenter’s attitude in the past as being a kind of Kristanna version of Isa and I stand by that assessment.  Where Isa demeans any connection Anna might have outside of Elsa, this commenter demeans any connection Anna might have outside of Kristoff.
Since this commenter ships Kristanna and dislikes Elsa so much, I don’t doubt that they consider themselves diametrically opposed to someone like Isa, but they similarly distort canon to demonize other characters (saying that, “outside of Kristoff, Anna can count on everyone else using her, leaving her, and manipulating her” is not only unfair to Elsa, but to Olaf) and prop up their ship - or at least, Kristoff as a character.
Even though celebrating Kristoff doesn’t mean you have to throw Elsa and Olaf and other connections Anna has with people (Mattias, the Northuldra, etc.) under the bus.
Now, Isa, of course, is worse because this commenter isn’t being racist or harassing creators (though having this comment added to one of my posts and then reblogged in certain circles was wearying to me), but there are still striking similarities in the ways this person tears other characters down to prop their favorite characters up.
As I’ve said in the past, it’s a similar form of extremism, just from a Kristanna shipper this time.
I’ve seen other examples of undue negativity towards Elsa in the past, mostly from self-proclaimed Anna fans. Before F2 came out, there was a post going around quipping about the fact that Elsa ruins all of Anna’s parties and never allows Anna the chance to enjoy a party.
I felt this was a bit mean-spirited towards Elsa and brought up to a friend that they seemed to be judging Elsa too personally - since Elsa is, after all, a fictional character and so the negativity directed at Elsa herself seemed... misplaced, to me. If you want to critique the way Elsa is written, focus on the writing. Or if you want to critique Elsa’s behavior, maybe find more valid textual elements to critique. I mean, yes, Elsa fled the coronation ball and “ruined” Anna’s party, I guess, but... there were kind of other circumstances going on and Elsa’s powers were being revealed and the Duke was calling her a monster and - She didn’t “ruin the party” out of spite.
My friend told me that the post was “just a joke” and that I was taking it too seriously. And, besides, if Elsa was just a fictional character, then why was I being so sensitive about the way that post portrayed Elsa?
I was under a lot of stress that night and became scared that I was letting my love of Elsa get the better of me (maybe I was being too biased, you know?), so I held my tongue after that.
I know that it’s complicated because Elsa is an insanely popular character and Elsa gets way more love from Disney marketing and merchandise than Anna even though Anna is the protagonist. I know Anna always seems to get the short shrift a lot of the time - and that’s something that absolutely needs to be discussed. I love seeing that discussed.
I also know that Elsa deserves to be critiqued and reflected on in a critical way, especially when she tends to be idealized by the fandom. I love Elsa with all my heart and admit to doing some level of idealizing of her myself, but I also critique aspects of her arc in F2 that I feel were poorly written. The thing is, in those cases, I make sure to direct my critique at the writing and not Elsa personally. Even when I’m disagreeing with some of Elsa’s actions, I don’t mean to be too... personal.
And maybe that anxiety on my part about being too personal comes from the fear I’ll be accused of taking something too seriously again, or from my knowledge that I love Elsa dearly and have a deep personal connection to her and so that will color my thoughts. And I know it’s impossible to be completely objective because we all connect deeply to these characters and that connection is what inspires us to discuss them...
...but still, yeah, some of the negativity towards Elsa from some circles seems to come from such a... personal place... that sometimes I feel certain people are blind to how extreme their negativity can be.
Keep in mind, I’ve actually seen nuanced and reflective discussions from people who consider themselves “Elsa critical” as well, and I don’t mean to disregard these people.
But if you’re making hyperbolically negative statements about Elsa, maybe you should pause and reconsider how much of your perspective is backed up by the text and how much is just your own biases.

Kairi’s Epic Journey: The Quest for Sora
Tumblr media
New to this fanfic? Click here to properly begin!
Chapter 21: Inferno in the Ice Palace
Arendelle
Towering before them was an immense palace made of ice attached to the side of the mountain.  A staircase made of ice lead up to the double doors which made up the front entrance.  The light of the sun shimmered off the crystals.
It was quite a sight that would be usually be considered beautiful.  But the beauty was marred by all the damage that was scattered all over.
The walls, once pristine, were now dotted with char marks, cracks and holes of various shapes and sizes.  Pieces of the railing on the staircase were missing and the steps themselves were now cracked and broken.  One could only imagine what the inside of the palace looked like.
Kairi couldn’t take her eyes off of it even as Marshmallow bent forward and allowed her, Anna and Olaf to slide off of him.  She walked over to Elsa who looked just as stunned to see her ice palace in such a state.
“I’m so sorry, Elsa.  It must’ve been so beautiful,” said Kairi sympathetically.
“My condolences as well, Your Majesty.  It is bad enough that those ruffians are squatters but they’re also vandals as well.,” said the Duke.
“How could anyone do something like this to a work of art?  This is a crime against ice,” asked Kristoff as Sven nodded in agreement.
“I don’t know, and I don’t care.  They’ve gone too far!  We should go in there right now, drag them back to Arendelle and throw them into the dungeon,” said Anna furiously as she attempted to stomp toward the palace before being held back by Elsa and Kairi.
“Take it easy, Anna,” said Elsa.
“I won’t take it easy, Elsa!  Mistreating Marshmallow was bad enough.  But now they’ve ruined one of the most beautiful things you’ve ever created with your powers.  We cannot let them get away with this,” shouted Anna.
“And we won’t.  But we can’t be reckless about this,” said Elsa.
“Your sister’s right, Anna.  We still have no idea about who or what we’re dealing with here,” said Kairi.  ‘For all we know, they could be the kind of people the Heartless would obey.’
“If there’s anybody even in there,” said Kristoff who was kneeling by a trail of tracks leading up to the staircase.
“What do you mean, Kristoff?” asked Kairi.
“Take a look at the tracks,” said the ice harvester beckoning everyone to come over to where he was.  Once everyone had gathered around him, he continued.
“When we stopped earlier, the tracks were all leading up here.  But now I’m also seeing some that are leading away from here,” said Kristoff pointing to several tracks that indeed looked like they were heading away from the ice palace.
“But how could we have missed them if they’ve already left?  We didn’t see any other trails besides the one we followed up here,” said Kairi.
“I have no idea, Kairi. And there’s another thing that’s baffling me.  If they wanted the ice palace for themselves, why would they damage it like this? Surely, they’d know by disrupting the integrity of the ice like this, they’d only be putting themselves in danger,” said Kristoff.
“Are you certain of that?” asked the Duke.
“Trust me, Your Grace. If there’s one thing I know best, it’s ice,” said Kristoff.
“This mystery is getting more mysterious every minute,” said Olaf with several of the others nodding in agreement.
Elsa gazed up to the ice palace’s doors.  “Well, one thing is for certain: we’re not going to get any answers unless we go in there.”
The queen then turned to the group.  “All right everybody.  Here’s what we’re going to do.  I’ll lead the way into the palace.  If there’s any damage to the floors, I can use my powers to fix them, so it’ll be safe for us to move around in there.  They’ll also protect us if there’s anyone still in there,” said Elsa.
“Don’t count Kairi out, Elsa.  She can help just like Sora!” exclaimed Olaf.
“What on earth is he talking about?  What kind of help can she offer?” asked the Duke.
“You’re just going to have to trust us on this, Your Grace.  Just know that if the situation calls for it, I’m ready to do all that I can to help,” said Kairi.
The Duke’s eyes gave a skeptical gaze for a brief moment.  “Hmm.  Very well. But what are we to do if those ruffians return and catch us by surprise from behind?” asked the Duke.
“That could be a job for Marshmallow.  He can stay out here and keep watch.  Will you, big guy?” asked Anna.
The giant snowman looked a little hesitant.  But he assented to Anna’s request with a nod and a grunt.
Kristoff noticed Marshmallow’s hesitance.  “I guess he’s still a little nervous.  Can’t say that I blame him.  I think after what happened earlier, he’s not looking forward to facing his attackers again.”
Kairi gave Marshmallow a pat on the hand.  “Don’t worry, Marshmallow.  We won’t let them hurt you again.”
“And to make you feel better, I’ll stay out here and keep watch with you, little brother,” said Olaf walking to the giant’s side.
“That’s probably a good idea, Olaf.  Is everyone else ready?” asked Elsa.
“As we’ll ever be, Elsa,” said Kairi with everyone nodding although the Duke’s nod was a little more reluctant.
“Good.  Then let’s go,” said Elsa as she turned to the staircase and waved her hands.  Her ice magic flowed over it and restored the staircase to its pristine condition.
Elsa then ascended the stairs.  Following her was Anna, Kristoff, the Duke, Kairi, Sven and Pluto.
Suddenly, just as the Duke stepped on the icy steps, his feet slid.  He quickly gripped the railing and gazed down at the abyss below. He gave a whimper of fright.
“Be careful on the steps, Mr. Weasel Town.  They can be pretty slippery,” called Olaf from the bottom of the stairs.
“Yes er thank you for telling me,” said the Duke as he regained his balance.
Olaf then looked up to Kairi.  “You doing okay yourself, Kairi?” he asked the Princess of Heart who was having a little trouble on the ice herself.
“I’ll be okay, Olaf. I’m just not used to walking on ice,” said Kairi.
Then, much to their dismay, Sven ended up slipping.  He fell down with a grunt and slid backwards.  He collided with Pluto and the two animals ended up in a heap at the bottom of the stairs.
Kristoff shook his head. “Looks like Sven still hasn’t gotten the hang of these stairs yet.”
Pluto gave a glare to the reindeer.  Sven gave a sheepish grin in response.
Shaking his head, Marshmallow reached downward and picked up the dog and the reindeer.  He set them down on their feet.
“Maybe it’s better that you stay down there, Sven.  You can help Olaf and Marshmallow keep watch,” said Kristoff.
“The same goes for you too, Pluto.  Don’t want you both to be slipping all over the place,” said Kairi.
The dog and the reindeer looked disappointed.  But they gave nods to show they conceded.
“We’ll come out for you all once we’re sure it’s safe,” said Kairi as she turned around to see Elsa had reached the door.
With a wave of the queen’s hand, the doors automatically opened.  She gasped in horror as she took in the state of the entry room of the palace.
The frozen fountain in the middle of the room was shattered to pieces.  The two staircases had several broken steps and railings. A huge piece of the wall was torn out revealing the sheer drop on the outside. There were holes in the floor that looked like they had either been put there by force or melted by fire.  The scene was reminiscent of the aftermath of a wild and destructive party.
“Be careful wherever you step, everyone.  Wait until I refreeze the floors and then only step where I step,” said Elsa as she entered with the others behind her.
As her sister used her powers to restore the floor’s strength, Anna took in all the damage done to her sister’s palace.  The more she saw, the more her rage grew.
Finally, she shouted in the loudest voice she could muster, “Listen to anyone in here!  This is the princess of Arendelle!  Whoever you are, I command you to show yourself and explain what you have done!”
Anna’s voice echoed throughout the palace.  The group waited to see if Anna’s demand would be responded to.  But the only response was silence.
“I don’t think that was going to work, Anna.  Judging from all this damage, it looks like they take great pride in destruction,” said Kairi.
“And I’m still thinking that for all we know, they could already be long gone by now,” said Kristoff.
“We should still investigate the rest of the palace just to be sure.  Even if no one is here anymore, we may be able to find some clues as to who was responsible for this,” said Elsa.
“But, Your Majesty, this place is quite immense.  Not to mention you’ve made it clear that we need to stay with you so you can keep the floors from collapsing.  So, how are we to do that?” asked the Duke.
“The Duke does have a point, Elsa.  This place is pretty big,” said Kairi.
“Actually, though it looks big on the outside, it really isn’t on the inside.  There’s really only one other room: the one upstairs,” said Anna pointing to the large double staircases leading upward.
Kairi was surprised. ‘Elsa builds a giant palace with only two rooms?  I guess that does make sense since she intended to live up here all alone when she ran away.  There’s really no need for too many rooms if you’re keeping yourself away from everyone.’
“Come on, everyone. Let’s head up to the top floor and see if anything or anybody is up there,” said Elsa as she made her way to one of the shorter staircases that lead up to a landing connected to the longer staircases.
After using her powers to repair the staircase, she led the group up onto the landing.  Then they made their way up the left staircase leading to the top floor.
The ascent up the stairs was not a pleasant one. Nearly everywhere on the surrounding walls were the same signs of damage that they had seen in the first room.
‘How could anyone be so heartless to do something like this to such a wonderful place?  It’s very heartbreaking,’ thought Kairi as she looked around at the various holes and cracks in the walls.
Then something caught the Princess of Heart’s eye. Actually, it was the lack of something that caught her eye.  “Everyone, there’s something very unusual about the stairs.”
“What do you mean, Kairi?” asked Anna.
“So far, everywhere we’ve been, there’s been damage all around on the walls and floors.  And Elsa’s had to fix the damage to the floors so we could walk on them,” stated Kairi.
“Go on,” said Elsa.
“So, why hasn’t she needed to fix these stairs? There’s no damage at all to them,” said Kairi.
Everyone then realized what Kairi was getting at. On this long ascent, Elsa had yet to use her powers to fix anything they had walked on like she had earlier.
“You’re right, Kairi.  After everything we saw downstairs, seeing something completely undamaged is strange,” said Anna.
“But they smashed up the stairs leading into the palace and the smaller staircases in the first room.  Why didn’t they do any damage to these ones?” asked Kristoff.
“I don’t know, but…” Kairi stopped midsentence as she sniffed.
“Hey, can you all smell that?” she asked causing everyone to sniff the air themselves.
“You appear to be right, young lady.  There does appear to be a peculiar odor in the air.  In fact, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say it almost smelled like something was on…” began the Duke.
“Fire!” interrupted Anna pointing upward where a thick cloud of smoke had gathered.  Everyone gasped in horror.
“How is this even possible?  How can something that’s made out of ice catch on fire?” asked the Duke.
“There’s no time to wonder about that!” exclaimed Elsa as she ran upstairs towards the smoke.
“Elsa, no!  You can’t breathe in that smoke!” exclaimed her sister.
Elsa stopped just as she entered the cloud.  She gave a few coughs before backing out of it.  ‘Anna’s right.  I could suffocate in this smoke.  But how am I going to get to that fire to extinguish it?’
Fortunately for Elsa, her answer came very soon as Kairi stepped up to her, summoned Destiny’s Embrace and pointed it at the smoke.  “Wind!” she cried.
At Kairi’s command, a gust of wind burst out from the tip of her Keyblade.  It pushed the smoke upward, clearing the path for them.
Elsa smiled at Kairi gratefully before turning back to her sister and the others.  “Anna, you stay behind with Kristoff and the Duke. Stay out of the smoke no matter what. Kairi and I will deal with that fire,” she said as she continued her ascent up the stairs.
“But…” began Anna.
“Don’t worry, Anna. I won’t let anything happen to her or this palace.  We’ll call for you when the fire’s out,” said Kairi as she followed after Elsa.
Anna was about to follow after them.  But before she could, Kristoff held her back.
“They’ll take care of it, Anna.  Trust them,” he said assuredly.
The Duke, in the meantime, was completely taken aback by what he had just witnessed.  “Was that…a giant key?  She has magic too?!” he exclaimed.
“Yes, Your Grace. Kairi does have powers of her own though they are a little different from Elsa’s,” said Kristoff.
“And you can take it from us that like my sister, there is no reason to assume the worst of Kairi,” said Anna with a hint of warning in her voice.
The Duke said nothing more.  But he nodded to let Anna know that he understood her point.
Anna then gazed up the staircase where her sister and her new friend had gone.  “Elsa, Kairi, be careful,” she whispered.
________________________________________________________________
Further up the staircase, Kairi and Elsa continued their ascent to the top floor.  Kairi kept up with casting Aero spells to push back the smoke.
It wasn’t too long before the staircase came to an end and they entered a hallway.  Midway through it, there was a doorway from which a bright orange glow could be seen.
The two of them made their way to the doorway and as soon as they got there, they had to shield their eyes from the glow.  When they uncovered them, they beheld a horrific sight.
In the center of the room of ice, a large pile of wood had been erected and set ablaze.  Water dripped from the ceiling and the chandelier as the heat from the fire melted it.
The queen was horrified to see a blazing inferno set in the middle of the room she considered to be the heart of the palace. “Kairi, I don’t know if my powers are strong enough to extinguish a fire this big!”
“We have to try, Elsa.  While you use your ice magic, I’ll cast some Water spells with my Keyblade.  Hopefully, that’ll be enough to put it out as well as soak the wood and stop it from catching fire again.  Ready?” asked Kairi causing Elsa to nod in agreement.
The two of them approached the fire. Fortunately for them, the holes in the ceiling allowed the smoke to escape so it was not as thick as it was coming up.  Kairi pointed Destiny’s Embrace at the burning wood while Elsa held out her hands, palms forward.
“Stream!” cried Kairi as she unleashed a blast of water from her Keyblade while simultaneously, Elsa conjured blasts of her ice magic.
The two of them cast many magical attacks on the fire and appeared to succeed in extinguishing the flames where they struck. But, much to their dismay, it turned out to only be temporary.  Apparently, the fire’s temperature was so intense that it was able to overcome the dampness and reignite.
“Kairi, it’s not working!” exclaimed Elsa.
Then, they heard what appeared to be the sound of cracking.  It could only mean one thing: the floor on the verge of collapsing.  If the fire wasn’t extinguished, the burning wood would fall through and put the rest of the ice palace in danger of destruction.
Elsa stopped casting her magic on the fire and fell to her knees.  Placing her hands on the floor, she channeled her magic into keeping it from falling apart.  She pored all her strength into it.  “Kairi! I don’t know if we can stop it!”
“We can, Elsa! Just keep the floor up for now!  I have an idea!” shouted Kairi as she stepped in front of the queen.
Then, to Elsa’s surprise, Kairi continued to cast Water spells on the fire as she had been doing before.   Even though it had been clear that it was futile, she kept on using the same magic.
“What are you trying to do, Kairi?  We already know that’s not going to work,” said Elsa.
“Trust me!  It shouldn’t be long now!  Just be prepared to use your powers on my signal!” cried Kairi.
Elsa’s confusion remained.  But seeing no other way, she decided to put her full trust in the Princess of Heart.
As Kairi continued to bombard the fire with apparently ineffectual Water magic, she thought, ‘I really hope this works.  Grand Magic is our only hope of stopping this fire!’
Finally, after a couple more Water spells, Kairi felt the power of the now ready Grand Magic coursing through her.  She pointed Destiny’s Embrace at the fire and shouted, “Waterza!”
The biggest blast of water so far burst out from her Keyblade.  At the same moment, Kairi stepped to the side and shouted, “Now, Elsa!  Freeze it!”
Elsa raised her hands and pointed them at the fire. Summoning all her strength, she unleashed a powerful wave of her magic.
The Waterza spell hit the fire splashing all over it.  In less than a second, Elsa’s power hit it as well.  The combination of the two magical attacks caused the pile of wood to be completely coated in ice, causing the fire to finally be extinguished.
Kairi let out a big sigh as she fell to her knees beside the queen.  Her Keyblade vanished into thin air.  She looked over to Elsa and gave a smile of relief.  “We did it.  It’s out.”
“That was a great idea as well as some amazing magic, Kairi,” Elsa said in between deep breaths.
“Thanks.  I’m just glad I was able to pull it off in time.  Truth be told, I’ve actually never done that level of magic outside of training before and certainly not in a situation like this,” said Kairi.
“You meant you couldn’t have done it right from the start?” asked Elsa.
“No.  It doesn’t work like that for me.  To perform Grand Magic with a Keyblade, you have to build up the power for it by casting the weaker spells repeatedly first,” explained the Princess of Heart.
“I guess one kind of magic isn’t quite the same as another.  But anyway, thank you so much, Kairi,” said Elsa.
Then, from the direction of the staircase, they heard Anna’s voice call out, “Elsa?  Kairi?”
“It’s okay, Anna!  The fire’s out now!  You can all come up!” Elsa called back.
The sound of running footsteps were heard and it wasn’t long before Anna came into view.  Kristoff and Duke trailed not far behind her.
Anna immediately rushed up to them and placed a hand on each of their shoulders.  “Are you both okay?  I was so worried for you both.”
“We’re fine, Anna. The palace is saved,” said Kairi.
“I know you both were doing what you had to do to save it.  But that didn’t make it any less scary.  Promise me you won’t run into fire ever again?” asked Anna.
Elsa chuckled.  “I promise.  I actually hope it’ll never come to me doing that again.”
Anna laughed too.  But her laughter ceased when she gazed at the frozen remains of the bonfire, the melted chandelier and the various holes in the ceiling. Kristoff and the Duke were equally stunned.
“My word.  From the looks of this, the blaze must’ve been immense,” said the Duke.
“It was, Your Grace.  The fire was so powerful that my magic wasn’t enough to stop it.  The whole palace would’ve melted right off the mountain if it weren’t for Kairi and her own magic,” said Elsa smiling at the Princess of Heart.
Anna gazed at the frozen woodpile with anger in her eyes.  “This is definitely the last straw.  It’s bad enough they chased Marshmallow out of his home and smashed up everything downstairs.  But they tried to outright destroy this place!  They’re going to pay!” she roared.
“Calm down, Anna.  As much as we’d all like to see that, truthfully, I don’t think it’s going to happen,” said Kristoff.
“But Kristoff…” began Anna before Kairi interjected.
“Kristoff’s right, Anna.  Think about it.  If whoever was responsible for this went as far as to set a fire this big to destroy the palace, I don’t think they were planning on sticking around.”
“But we didn’t see any trace of anyone leaving coming up here.  They couldn’t have gotten by us.  Where could they have gone?” asked Anna.
“I don’t know, Anna.  It doesn’t look like we’re going to get any answers anytime soon if at all.  I think the only thing we can do right now is make repairs to the palace and then head back to Arendelle,” said Elsa.
“But Elsa, what if they come back?  What if Marshmallow won’t be so lucky to get away next time?” asked Anna.
“I think we can assume that if they believe their fire succeeded in destroying the palace, they’re not likely to return,” said Elsa.
Anna sighed.  “I guess that’s a fair assumption.  All right.  I guess there really isn’t anything we can do now other than start fixing this place up.”
“Anyone have any ideas on how we’re going to get this out?” Kristoff asked pointing the frozen woodpile.
“Good thing we have a giant snowman who’s the right person for that job.  Speaking of which, someone ought to go and tell Olaf, Marshmallow, Sven and Pluto what’s going on and that it’s safe to come in,” said Kairi.
“I’ll take care of that,” said Anna as she made her way out of the room.
But just before she could leave, the Duke ran up to her.  “Your Majesty, allow me to go and notify the snowmen and the animals of the current predicament.”
“That won’t be necessary, Your Grace,” said Anna.
“Please.  I came up here hoping I could help convince the scoundrels responsible for this of their error.  But since that appears to be no longer possible, I wish to be of service to you and your sister in any way I can,” said the Duke in tone that sounded almost like begging.
Anna gave a roll of her eyes before she said, “Okay. You can go and tell them what’s happened if you insist on making yourself useful.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty,” said the Duke with a bow as he left the room and headed for the stairs.
Anna turned around and once again, gazed at the frozen remains of the bonfire.  She let out a heavy sigh.
Kairi rose to her feet and walked up to the princess’ side.  “Anna? You okay?”
“I will be, Kairi.  It just doesn’t feel right knowing that the people who did this will probably never answer for it,” said Anna.
“I know what you mean,” said Kairi as her thoughts turned to how little Xehanort paid for all the suffering he caused.  ‘Although, I guess being utterly defeated by Sora, Donald and Goofy despite having the χ-blade must’ve been quite humiliating for him.  Still, after everything he did to me and my friends, I would’ve preferred that he got a lot more comeuppance than that.’
Then Anna smiled.  “But I guess there is a bright side to having this all resolved now. Once we get this place back to the way it was, we can focus on finding something to help you find Sora.  And since you’ve helped save Elsa’s palace, it’s now more important that we do that.”
Kairi smiled.  “I appreciate that, Anna.  But don’t feel like you have to help me to settle a debt.  Like I told you before, Sora would have done the same thing.”
“Well, he certainly would’ve been proud of what you did here today,” said Elsa who had come to Kairi’s side.
In spite of Elsa’s praise, Kairi’s spirits dropped a little.  ‘I hope he would be.  But I really hope he’ll be even prouder of me when I succeed in finding him and make up for failing to keep him safe.’
Then the three of them noticed Kristoff had been walking around the room and looking over every detail.  An expression of concern was on his face.
“Kristoff?  Is something the matter?” asked Anna.
“Something doesn’t seem right here.  After looking over the room and from what I know about ice, I’m thinking that this fire may not have been burning for too long,” said the ice harvester causing shock to the three girls.
“What makes you say that?” asked Kairi.
Kristoff pointed to the ceiling.  “Look at the holes.  They don’t look too big.  If this fire had been burning longer, they would have been a lot bigger.”
“But Kristoff, Kairi and I heard the floor cracking. I had to use my powers to keep it from collapsing.  Wouldn’t that be a sign that this fire was burning for awhile?” asked Elsa.
“Being directly under the fire, the floor had not only the heat affecting it but also the weight of the wood. That would have caused it to melt faster,” said Kristoff.
Kairi then realized something herself.  “And we didn’t see any smoke coming from the palace when we were outside!”
“So, that means that the fire was probably set sometime after we stepped into the palace!” exclaimed Anna.
Then, from behind them, the sound of slow clapping was heard followed by an unfamiliar female voice saying, “Congratulations, Your Majesty, for figuring out our ploy.  Unfortunately, it will do you little good since you have put yourselves right where we want you.”
All of them turned around and gasped.  They were no longer alone.
Standing behind them was company of seven strangers all dressed in the same crimson colored cloaks with stylized flames around the hems and sleeves.  On their chests was an emblem of what appeared to be a light blue reptilian creature baring a fierce expression with a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth and its body surrounded by violet flames.  They were all wearing black gloves and boots.  They had hoods over their heads and their faces were wrapped in dark red strips of cloth with only their eyes uncovered.
Upon seeing these strangers and their almost familiar garb, horrible memories flowed through Kairi.  Memories of Xehanort and his Organization approaching her, Sora, Riku, Mickey, Axel, Aqua and Ven in the prelude to the battle that would leave her with many scars.
Then they noticed that two of the strangers on the far left had the Duke of Weselton in their clutches.  They held him with his arms behind his body with one hand each while holding their other hands over his mouth as he struggled to get free.
The Duke managed to get his mouth uncovered and he frantically shouted, “They were waiting in the entry room!  They somehow got past…”
“Keep him quiet!” shouted the stranger in the center who appeared to be the owner of the female voice who had spoken earlier. At her command, the ones holding the Duke put their hands back over his mouth.
The woman then stepped forward.  It appeared that she was the leader of this mysterious group.
Now that she was closer, Kairi and the others could see that her left eye was covered by a black eyepatch.  Her remaining green eye stared at them venomously.
Anna stomped toward the leader with a look of pure anger on her face.  “So, you’re the ones responsible for all this!  Why are you doing this?  What gives you the right to come in here and…”
Before Anna could finish her angry inquiries, the leader raised her hand as if she was making a signal. In response, the two strangers on either side of her made fast throwing motions toward the floor right in front of the princess.
Whatever they threw moved too quickly for anyone to see what it was other than giving off a bright orange glow.  But whatever they were, the spot on the floor they struck suddenly burst into a small flame.
Anna stopped in her tracks as the rest of their group stared in shock.  A couple of the strangers let out evil chuckles as the fire burned for a few moments before going out.
“Did they just…” began Kristoff.
“…throw fire?” finished Kairi.
The leader scraped her fingertips over her right palm and produced a small fire in her hand.  “Oh, we can do a lot more than that.  In fact, our power over fire enables us to do the most incredible feats much like a certain queen’s ice magic.”
Elsa stepped forward while trying to remain calm despite the tense situation.  “Who are you?  What is it that you want?”
“I am Eimyrja and we are the Order of the Flame,” said the leader as she gestured to the others behind her.
Then she pointed accusingly at Elsa with her free hand.  “And what we seek is justice for your crimes, Queen Elsa of Arendelle.”

When talking to people about the ice boat scene from different corners of the fandom, I found it fascinating that both the Elsanna shippers I’ve talked to and the Kristanna shippers I’ve talked to are incredibly pained and devastated by it.
The Elsanna shippers I’ve talked to describe a sense of pain and heartbreak that Elsa would push Anna away again. I’ve talked with people who’ve described watching the scene in horror, in grief, because, “Elsa, what are you doing? You promised Anna you’d do this together! Don’t push her away again! Elsa, please, don’t do this!”
I know that I, as an Elsanna shipper, felt that devastation in my heart. Watching the ice boat scene feels crushing to me because it feels like a betrayal. The sisters were able to heal Arendelle in the first film because they came together, because Elsa finally let her heart feel what her heart had been yearning for, for years, and let Anna in. All those years in the first film, trusting the prescripts of others instead of your own heart, and you’re able to help heal the land when you stop putting p walls against your sister. Their love, their faith in each other, gives them both strength in the first film and saves the land.
Elsanna shippers feel hurt because the ice boat scene feels like Elsa putting up those walls again. And many Elsanna shippers sympathize deeply with Anna’s position in Frozen 2. They sympathize deeply with Anna. Anna, who has been talking good sense this whole movie: “Elsa, don’t be reckless. Don’t be rash. Don’t run into fire. You don’t have to go this alone. We’re stronger together,” while Elsa hasn’t been listening. It’s heartbreaking for them to watch, especially as the movie emphasizes Anna having to learn things (apologizing for leaving Kristoff behind because she was just so desperate to protect Elsa) when it seems like, Anna doesn’t have to learn anything. Anna is in the right. Anna is in the right. And yet the film frames it as her having to come to terms with change and her sister operating out of her sphere when really, the conflict rests on trust.
There’s a definite sense from Elsanna shippers (myself included) that Elsa should be better than this - that she shouldn’t have pushed Anna and Olaf away. There were other ways, ways that were more rooted in actually “doing this together” - in making a mission plan together even if it meant Elsa going on alone. And there’s also a sense that - even if Elsa isn’t better than this because it logically makes sense that she’s in a traumatic situation and does not want her loved ones to die - she should have more clearly apologized for her actions.
It does genuinely feel out-of-character for Elsa to me - at least to a degree. I’m not one of those people who claims, “Elsa was completely rewritten in F2!” In fact, seeing Elsa relapse into bad choices that were ingrained in her from childhood seems very in-character for Elsa during a crisis. People don’t outgrow things like that easily - and having Elsa completely outgrow that conditioning would be unrealistic. But it feels off to me that Elsa wouldn’t apologize immediately upon reunion with Anna and Olaf. And, I know, the filmmakers wanted Elsa to be less apologetic in this movie. But they also wrote her doing something that they wanted to stress was so intense that they had Olaf get angry about it. Elsa apologizing for her actions in this one scene wouldn’t be like the times she’s apologized for existing.
(On that note, to the people who used the post about the ice boat scene I wrote on my other blog to claim that “Elsa never apologizes because Elsa never feels she’s done something wrong,” your assessment of Elsa is factually incorrect. Elsa feels she does things wrong constantly, sometimes to a crippling degree. Elsa has apologized multiple times throughout the franchise and that anxiety and pain on Elsa’s part is why the filmmaker’s desire for her to be less apologetic makes a certain degree of sense. It doesn’t make sense in the context of the ice boat scene and its aftermath, however, because of the specific way the filmmakers frame the moment for Anna and Olaf... meaning that we as the audience want Anna and Olaf to get closure and then... the film doesn’t give it to them.
And that’s the thing: the sentiment of pain, grief, and anger from Elsanna shippers over the ice boat scene isn’t irrational. In fact, it’s very rational because the film itself frames the moment as a kind of betrayal. The film wants the moment to be a gut-punch. That’s why it goes so far to have Olaf, the most innocent of characters, express anger at Elsa’s actions. So Elsanna shippers aren’t just angry because our headcanons/hopes of the sisters genuinely working together were dashed. We’re feeling what the film explicitly wants us to feel and conditions us to feel.
And the fact that Olaf’s anger and Anna’s anger never gets brought up again? That’s a legitimate flaw in the film. I know I’ve seen people’s defenses of it saying, “It makes sense in-universe that Anna would be too relieved to be angry at that moment, and they must have talked it over at a later time,” but that’s an excuse for a dangling plot thread, not a resolution to the plot thread. It’s headcanon.
So Elsanna shippers have to sit back and watch, while agreeing with the sensible things Anna is saying, and suffer through the film trying to teach Anna a lesson when Anna’s protectiveness of Elsa (Elsa, who is doing increasingly reckless things without consulting her family much at all) makes the most sense onscreen.
Meanwhile, Kristanna shippers can be incredibly devastated by the ice boat scene as well. (I’m specifically referring to a specific number of Anna fans, most of whom ship KA, hence my initially describing them by ship and not just calling them “Anna fans” - because there are Anna fans who ship Elsanna too and I don’t want to be needlessly confusing.)
And, interestingly, these KA shippers’ frustrations often mirror the EA shippers’ frustrations in key ways. They relate to Anna’s pain deeply. Like the grieving Elsanna shippers, they also feel, Anna is in the right, Anna is in the right and I’ve talked to people in this circle who feel the most agonizing thing about F2 is watching Anna try to hold her family together while being torn apart at the seams. And I sympathize with that deeply. It also stings me to see Anna leaving Kristoff behind.
But, where the EA shippers tend to feel, “Elsa should be better than this,” there’s sometimes a tendency among these KA shippers to be like, “Elsa should be better than this - and, because she isn’t, that proves that Elsa is a horrible person and Anna needs to break free of her.”
Where the EA shippers see Elsa’s actions as out-of-character (or, at least, in-character but a character flaw that needs resolution by the film’s end... which the film doesn’t give), this group seems to see Elsa’s actions as validation of something they’ve been arguing since before F2 - that there are unhealthy aspects to the sisters’ dynamic and/or awkward elements in the way the franchise writes that dynamic. And, judging from F2, there are uncomfortable and negative aspects to the sisters’ dynamic (which the film doesn’t really give any firm closure on - yes, they’re in different places now, but did they talk about what happened with the ice boat? Did anyone get closure on that, and what does that say about both of them?) And, yes, the franchise can sometimes idealize Elsa at the expense of Anna. These are valid critiques.
Still, as someone who remembers cracks about “Elsa never letting Anna enjoy a party” before F2 came out, I feel that some of the negativity towards Elsa is born of these people’s own biases. (For those unfamiliar, there was a post going around before F2 came out “joking” about how Elsa never lets Anna enjoy a party. First she flees the coronation ball and Anna has to go after her. Then she gets sick in Frozen Fever and Anna has to be stressed about her all the time. Then she shuts the door on Anna in OFA. Of these examples in the “joke,” I feel the first two are very much unfounded. Elsa’s powers were revealed at the coronation ball and she was fleeing for her life; she didn’t “ruin the party” out of spite. Also, how dare Elsa... get sick and still want to give Anna a happy experience on her birthday? However, I don’t like the moment in OFA either, myself, especially considering the visible pain on Anna’s face seeing that door close again. Regarding the “Elsa never lets Anna enjoy a party” comments, I mentioned to a friend that I found them mean-spirited. She told me they were “just a joke” and I was overreacting.)
EDIT: A friend came to me, frustrated that I was bringing up the “Elsa never lets Anna enjoy a party post from years ago - even though I made clear that the post was from years ago by saying that it was from before F2 came out. I realize that it is unfair to equate the negativity towards Elsa in that post with the negativity I have seen in recent weeks towards Elsa. So I want to make clear again that I didn’t mean to EQUATE that negativity with the anti-Elsa negativity I’ve seen from certain people recently.
I mean, I tried to make that clear by making a deliberate distinction between people who are critical of Elsa for valid reasons and extreme people - and by “extreme people,” I mean people who put things like this in their bios:
Tumblr media
I didn’t want to bring up this individual, even though they ship KA, because I didn’t want people to feel I was generalizing all KA shippers as being like this person. I know all KA shippers are NOT like this person, that’s why I describe people like this person as “extremists” and “people on the other extreme.”
I brought up the party meme, not to dredge up old wounds, but because the party meme was a lesser example of negativity towards Elsa that didn’t feel as incendiary as bringing this person up.
I’ll also admit, I was trying to convey a sense of the history of negativity towards Elsa by bringing up a time before F2 and all of its controversial choices came out, when people were still making what I felt to be unfair statements about Elsa that are contradicted by looking back at the actual text of the franchise.
I’m sorry to those that felt hurt by me mentioning this again. I’m sorry that I still feel that the old joke was in poor taste and distorted and twisted canon for the sake of snark.
I do feel, though, that the extremist negativity towards Elsa that is around today doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It didn’t just emerge fully formed out of the blue - and citing something from the past can highlight that. it can prove that there was undue negativity towards Elsa in certain circles even before F2 came out.
And I know it was just a joke and I don’t mean to rain on your fun years later, but I still feel it’s a joke rooted in a deliberate misreading of the text.  If people years ago said, “Elsa was being hurtful to Anna by fleeing for her life” and “Elsa was being hurtful to Anna by trying to make her birthday a happy one even at the expense of Elsa’s own health,” then that’s a deliberate misreading of the text, especially in the first instance, even if it was just a joke, a lark (jokes can still be in poor taste, or based on falseness, however old they may be) - and such misreadings of the text have only gotten worse in the intervening years.
But I NEVER meant to equate the joke from years ago with the “Elsa should have been killed off” attitude.
And I apologize - because I know all too well what it’s like to be lumped in with extremists. People do it to Elsanna shippers all the time. Again, that’s why, across the post, I made distinctions between the beliefs of extremists and the beliefs of people who have genuine frustrations based on the franchise’s flaws.
Forgive me, I meant for this post to highlight connections between disparate groups of people - and I went out of my way to express sympathy and solidarity with KA shippers who have valid critiques. The purpose of this post was meant to be connective, not disruptive - and I’m sorry I failed in that.
END OF EDIT
I don’t believe the filmmakers intended to make Elsa a horrible person. I also don’t believe the filmmakers meant to portray the sisters’ bond as inherently toxic.
But, like the EA shippers, these KA shippers are reacting to legitimate flaws in the text, loose ends that the film doesn’t return to. If the ice boat scene was important enough for there to be a visible turning of Olaf’s emotions, something that is so notable that even the film takes note of it, then the fact that the scene is brushed aside later in the movie feels... off. Like we’re not getting resolution or conclusion. Besides the sentiment, “It makes sense that no one would bring it up at the end because that would kill the mood (even though it seems emotionally important for all involved) and of course it was all resolved offscreen somewhere more fully instead of being resolved onscreen.”  And I can sympathize with that, even if I fundamentally disagree with those that overly-demonize Elsa.
Interestingly, when I wrote my old post about the ice boat scene on my other blog, Isa of all people reblogged it (as did several KA shippers) - but I get the feeling her take on the ice boat scene is probably something like, “Yes, it’s out of character for Elsa... but that means the filmmakers hate Elsa and want to prop up Anna.” Which is wrong. Like, really wrong.  Isa’s tone can also be surprisingly callous towards Anna - which is why I didn’t include her in my discussion of EA shippers whose heartbreak about the scene stems mainly from their empathizing with Anna. Her racist rhetoric and her fury is corrosive to everyone.
Likewise, the people on the other extreme who feel that Elsa is abusive and that the filmmakers hate Anna and love Elsa are wrong. (Note: I am not equating people’s Bad Takes on Elsa with racism. But the Bad Elsa takes are still wrong.)
I think extremists need to shake the idea that filmmakers “hate” their characters. Sometimes, bad writing is just bad writing.
Sometimes, bad ramifications can come from good intentions.
Like, I’ve spent a great deal of this post criticizing the ice boat scene - and especially criticizing the way the aftermath is handled onscreen. But the scene itself also has many merits. It’s complicated. It’s a moment of crisis. And both sisters are partly right and partly wrong. In and of itself, the scene actually displays good writing. But the fact the film later brushes aside the complicated themes it introduces in that moment, undermines the good in the scene taken alone. It leaves that aspect of the narrative feeling emotionally unsatisfying.
Sometimes, the flaws in a film are complicated.
And sometimes, people can agree on certain things without even realizing it. Because I’ve referenced ways that two groups of people with opposite ships actually have similar frustrations about the scene.
And I know, I’m not “on the outside looking in” when it comes to any of this. I ship EA and KA, so I’m in the thick of it and I’m not trying to portray myself as a neutral third party. That’s why I wrote about my own grief and frustrations with the scene.
And to everyone who was aggrieved that my post about the ice boat scene from ages ago furthered anti-Elsa sentiment because it was reblogged by negative people, that was never my intention. And I hope this post comes across as more neutral and well-argued.
Thank you.

Notes: HAPPY CORONATION DAY! I've been hanging onto this since I posted chapter 5 both because I wanted to make sure it was just right, and I thought it deserved to be released on an important day in the fandom's history: the date Elsa was crowned Queen of Arendelle in 1844. (We know this thanks to some smart cookies on Reddit haha)
So I know this should technically be from Elsa's POV if I continued to follow the convention I set up for myself, but I decided to keep writing it as Anna. It's been her story from the beginning and it should end as her story. Plus it's an epilogue, so it doesn't have to follow the rest of the fic's format! So there! AHAHAHAHA… I don't know, I'm tired.
And YES, this is the end. No sequels, no Epilogues-To-Epilogues; the MSB grand finale. I know a lot of you may have not seen my mention of an epilogue in the notes for last chapter, so hopefully you'll see this! If any of you want to continue Elsa and Anna's story in your own spinoff fanfics, be my guest (but please credit me); otherwise, I consider MSB to be at its natural ending. Hope you all enjoy the last slice!
In all seriousness, thanks to everyone who has waited this long for what is essentially a one-off smutty fic about D*sney sisters to be finished. I owe so much to this story; it changed my life in a very literal, very unexpected way. Elsa and Anna's true love thawed my jaded heart and encouraged me to keep writing, even when I was sank deep in the darkness of a miserable life, and to explore who I am in ways I never felt brave enough to do. I'm in such a better place now than when this began. It's been a pleasure being part of this fandom, and hopefully I will continue to enjoy it for a long time to come.
Until we meet again,
Jessex

                                                 EPILOGUE
                              Min Søsters Bursdagsmadrass: Anna
                                         ~ Five Months Later ~
Okay, okay, not quite five months have passed since we saved our kingdom from my sister's magic. Closer to four-and-a-half. But the time has flown by so much that it feels more like a week.
Kristoff and Sven came galloping up to the gates just as we were exiting. The ice boy was a lot less shocked that I was arm-in-arm with Elsa than I expected; probably because he pretty much already caught us in flagrante delicto before. He tried to offer congratulations, and I gave him a big hug to cut through all that awkwardness.
Olaf showed up not long after. Well, we came across a puddle that used to be Olaf; I'd know that carrot nose anywhere. Before I could start sobbing, Elsa calmly created a little ice-flurry and rebuilt him as easy as if she were breathing; he was disoriented, but didn't take long to be back to his cheerful self, hugging us and congratulating us on figuring out that we belonged together. That made sense the more I thought about it. Seriously, why wouldn't our snow-baby always know his parents should stay together?
Naturally, there were a few people who came to the levee that didn't condone our love. I wish I could say differently. Most of them were either too afraid to speak out against us — probably because my sister was some kind of ice witch, that tends to make even the bravest of men need a change of underwear — or they were genuinely happy we were happy, and summer was back. But one or two tried to shame us. Didn't go well, considering we were the monarchy and surrounded by supporters. More insisted we needed a king, at the very least for the purpose of heirs. I tried to tell them that Olaf was our heir, which got a lot of weird looks, but Elsa insisted that it was our decision if and when we crossed that bridge. I guess that's why she's the queen, right? I mean, can you imagine me as the queen of Arendelle? No way!
Hans was tried and convicted of treason against the kingdom. I didn't even go; I didn't want to look at him again if I could help it. But I watched from the castle walls with my sister as they led him away to a ship bound for the Southern Isles. We figured his family would make sure the sentence was severe if they wanted to maintain a good trade partnership with Arendelle. Plus, we wouldn't have to deal with him still being in our home. Win-win.
We also shipped old Weaseltown out. He can peacock-strut and backstab on his own turf.
Everything flew by a lot faster after those first few days. Kristoff was our new icemaster general — totally a real title, thank you — and Olaf's cheery presence got everyone used to the idea of magic. The people slowly grew to accept that their queen had a queen of her own. At first, we tried not to be too open with our relationship, but even though everybody thinks of me as the free spirit, it was Elsa who decided we should begin taking walks through the kingdom, hand-in-hand. At first, we got a few stinkeyes, but little by little, they saw we were happy, and not hurting anyone with our taboo love, and… it just became normal, I guess.
Which is fantastic! I mean, if they didn't I would have bought a whole collection of lutes to start smacking them with, but that didn't turn out to be necessary. Good thing; a co-queen shouldn't brawl with her subjects. Looks kinda bad.
As we hit the middle of December and the weather was turning colder without my sister's influence, I started scheming. We had enjoyed four wonderful months of getting to know each other all over again. Even though I'm basically a big ball of libido, somehow Elsa convinced me that we shouldn't just start banging each other's brains out every day. How dare she! But I have to admit, having that sex-free courtship time was somehow a magic all its own.
Because we were behind. By thirteen years. I found out just how well-read my sister was, since she had ploughed through book after book when she wasn't trying to practice controlling her magic. That was something we had in common, since I was often equally bored; it turned out we had read a lot of the same books, and we could compare our thoughts and feelings about them over many, many cups of tea. She never did start talking to paintings like I did, but when I introduced them to her, at least she was bemusedly giggling behind her hand instead of openly mocking me, or telling me I needed medical attention. And we went horseback riding, and swimming, ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner together. Started going through our parents' things at last, painful though it was. Learned about the kind of adults we had become since we last knew each other as children.
And kissed, sure. Just because we didn't start rolling around in the bed sheets right away didn't mean I was going to let us be complete prudes.
However… my sister's birthday was fast approaching, and I knew I had to do something big. Maybe in a literal sense. So the scheming turned to plotting, and the plotting turned to planning. And then the plans got put in motion leading up to her big day.
                                                      ~ o ~
"Alright, alright, Olaf! I'm going!"
"Sorry, Elsa, but there's no time to waste!" I could hear him replying to her from the other side of the door. I could just barely see her slippered feet and his snow stumps through the crack underneath. So weird doing that from the inside this time… "I guess. I've never had a birthday, but Anna told me this is your biggest one yet, and we got a schedule to keep!"
"Okay, little guy," she laughed at him easily. Even though I couldn't see, I could just picture her petting over his head. "Thank you."
"Yep! And oh, I was supposed to do something else, it was… yeeeessss! Anna told me I should 'get lost for the rest of the day'. So I guess my question is, does that mean until sundown? Or midnight? And how lost do I have to get? I can get lost just in this castle, it's so big, but she was pointing at the gates when she said it…"
"Tell you what. Why don't you go pay Kristoff and Sven a visit? That should be far enough."
"But I won't be lost if I know where I'm going," he told her in a patient tone, as if she were the one who was missing something instead.
"My mistake," she laughed fondly. "Just have a little adventure outside of the castle and we will see you in the morning."
"Okie-dokie! Have fun, don't do anything I wouldn't do! Or do, because you're not me, so you should be doing things I wouldn't do? Maybe? Especially if I'm going to be getting lost and you don't need to be lost. I don't know if that's exactly…"
He was still talking by the time his voice started to fade around the corner. The rest of the sentence was cut off by Elsa knocking on my door.
"Go away, Elsa," I called back at her in an exaggeratedly pouty tone.
"Anna," she sighed. "Yes, I know I was the one saying that to you for a decade of our lives, but this joke is starting to get a little old now."
"Whaaaaaat? No, I don't think so."
"It's officially old as of today. Now, may I come in, or will you be coming out?"
"Think we both already did that last part," I giggled. "Did you, um, prepare?"
"For the love of- yes! Though I don't know why, I let Gerda bathe me thoroughly, and now I am standing outside your door, scrubbed raw and regretting that I listened to her, because you are being a pain in the-"
She didn't finish that thought because I unlocked the door just then. But I didn't open it for her. I was too busy scampering across the floor of my chambers to stand by the bed, grinning from ear-to-ear like a loon. And don't judge, okay? I'd been planning this for a long time.
"Um…" The door creaked open, and one of her baby blues peered around the inside of the darkened room. The sun had already set, so it was only the moonlight and the single candle on my bedside table providing illumination. "A-Anna?"
"Please enter," I said in a pretentiously royal tone.
"Oh, your robe is like mine," she said with a small smile as she eased the door shut behind her.
"Yep! Silk, from the East! I mean, you fill yours out a little better — especially up top. But that's one of the gifts. And I figured, hey, might as well get one for me, too!"
Barely glancing down at the blue silk covering her sizable assets, she shook her head with a small laugh. "It's very nice, thank you. But I thought I told you I didn't want you to make a big deal about my birthday; we should be focused on the Yule festivities for the kingdo-"
"No, no, no," I teased her with a wave of my index finger, bouncing on my heels excitedly. "This is the first time in thirteen years I have been able to celebrate this with you. Give me this one, okay?"
"When can we stop saying the number thirteen and start really enjoying our lives again?"
"When it's been fourteen years. Now… can you take that robe off and hop up on the bed for me?"
Oh, that shrewd little smirk that blossomed on my sister's face. It was both breathtakingly beautiful and super sexy. She was all the time, anyway, but there were moments that it stood out a lot more. "Ahhhh. So that's what all this is about, is it? You think tonight we are going to break our courtship."
"Mmmmaybe. But even if we don't, I still want more with you tonight. If that's okay," I added hastily, fidgeting with my hands behind my back.
"I see." Elsa stepped forward to smooth her hands up and down the green silk covering my chest, teasing her fingernails over my neck. Definitely not making it any easier to stop my lady parts from launching a hostile takeover of my brain, I can tell you! "And… this is very important to you, isn't it?"
"Y-yeah." Clearing my throat, I said, "And I understand why courting was important to you. And it's been great! Really, I loved getting to know you all over again, and we have been having so much fun. But… maybe just a little playing tonight? Please?"
As she glared across into my eyes, I brought my thumb and forefinger up between our faces, half an inch apart. That was all it took to make her burst out laughing.
"That little, hmm?" she finally chuckled as my cheeks burned. "Okay. I assume once I am in position, you will tackle me on this bed?"
"Yeah. Well, not 'tackle', but I'll join you. I just want you to feel how soft it is first."
That got Elsa's eyebrows raising in slight surprise. "Soft, hm? Did you get yourself a new bed for my birthday?"
"I dunno, did I?" I gasped. Hoping my acting skills were at least good enough to hide how excited I was.
Not quite. But at least Elsa hadn't fully figured out my cunning scheme. She pointed at my face and hissed under her breath, "There had better not be anyone hiding in here."
"Hiding? Wait, why would I stick anybody else in here and then tell you to take off your clothes?"
"How should I know? Sometimes you have a really strange sense of humour, Anna."
"Not that strange! Surprise creepy people sounds plain old mean!" But before she could say anything else, I placed a hand over my heart and raised the other one. "I do hereby solemnly pledge that nobody is going to jump out of the wardrobe at you. Or anything else like that."
"Fine, I believe you," she laughed as she stepped from her slippers and let the silk fall from her shoulders, exposing her smooth, pale back. Even now that we had been going for walks and rides, she was still white as alabaster, despite the alternating tans and sunburns I had.
"Mmm…"
"Again, my birthday seems to be full of gifts for you," she accused playfully with a little glance over her shoulder at me as she approached the bed, moving to climb atop it. "Little pervAAAHHH?!"
SPLAT.
Nope, I definitely couldn't hold back anymore. I wrapped my arms around my middle and burst out into gales of laughter, shaking all over and trying my best not to fall down. "ELSA! Your face — you should see your face!"
"I'm- what is- ANNA!" my poor sister finally burst out as she slipped and slid everywhere, defiling all my hard work. "What is the meaning of this?! What IS this, where did- is this CAKE?!"
Cackling and bouncing up and down as I clapped my hands, I finally crowed, "YES! Isn't it incredible?! Doesn't it look just like my bed? I mean, it did before you jumped on it, but even still, the rest of it!"
God, she looked hilarious. I was laughing, but was doing my best not to actually point at Elsa while I did it. And anyone would have laughed; her face covered in so much chocolate and frosting, a huge chunk falling from her chin to splash onto her right breast even while she blinked at me in wonder. Never had our regal queen looked so un-regal.
"You… made… a bed-sized cake… just to play this prank on me." She scraped some of the frosting from her eyelids and flicked it away, turning slightly so she could kneel on the layers of confection. That only made me laugh so hard I snorted like a pig. "This is… I have no words. I literally have no words, I could never have anticipated this."
"Aww, don't be grumpy," I teased breathlessly as I got rid of my own robe, dropping it right next to hers. "Just because I got you good this time! You freaked out, it was the most amazing thing I've watched in my whole life!"
"Yes, well, the show is ov- Anna, what are you doing now? Don't tell me- are you going to jump into this cake with me?! That's insane!"
I hesitated. "Well… I was before you called it 'insane'…" But then I approached the edge of the bed, hands on my hips. No way was I going to chicken out that easily. "This wasn't just a prank. I really wanted to do this for you."
That finally got her to laugh, and when she started she found it hard to stop. I laughed with her, watching her slap her caked thigh a few times. But before I could join her on the bed, she suddenly breathed, "Insane… but beautiful. I've never seen a woman more lovely in the entire world."
My heart skipped over a beat, and I hoped she couldn't tell how hard my nipples were in the low light. "Ahhhhh, now you're just lying. We both know you own a mirror."
"Nice try," she laughed, biting her sugar-coated lip for a moment to weather my counter-compliment. Then she tilted her head slightly while asking, "Why? This is the strangest surprise I have ever received — and that includes that certain birthday of yours. But I can tell it means a lot to you, so could you help me…?"
Great. Now I had to actually face the music, and it was going to take a lot of exposing of feelings. So I took a deep breath before throwing my inhibitions to the wind... and letting my knees sink into the cake.
"That is so wrong," I groaned, feeling one of my eyes twitch.
"I know. But once you get used to it, it's… still wrong, but interesting." She was leaning slightly on one arm, moving her legs out to one side. Always so ladylike, even in a big mound of baked sweetness.
"So here it is," I sighed. "You and me, even when we were really little… chocolate was our soft spot. We could never resist it. And especially after my birthday, when we bonded over it again… I knew your birthday had to be something big, since I could finally celebrate it with you. Something that mattered to both of us. And fun! I thought fun was really important, too. Took me a while to figure out just how I wanted to do this, but once I had this idea, I just… I knew. This was the only thing that would be good enough."
Though she had been listening with a small smile, my last sentence wiped it away. Why? What did I say wrong? Her cake-slicked hand lifted to caress my cheek.
"Anna, anything would have been good enough. Even if this had turned out to be a normal bed, I would have been so happy. How much you spend, how much you plan these gifts, it's sweet but you don't have to go to so much trouble. Don't you know my favourite gift is you?"
My lips only got the chance to part very slightly — when she booped me. She booped my nose with frosting on that finger. The Queen of Arendelle, everybody.
"You little stinker." But her words kept me from retaliating. "You… you mean that, huh? That I'm enough?"
"I do." Her lips pecked mine. "You always have been. I'm just sorry I wasn't able to show you until these past few months. But now, I get to make up for lost time."
Sliding closer, I whispered, "Same here."
And that was as far as I could get before I was attacking her mouth. Elsa welcomed me gratefully, humming as she pulled my body closer. I knew she was getting cake all over me, but I had kind of resigned myself to that when I concocted this whole crazy scheme. Literally concocted.
Which was what she asked about next. "How long did this take to bake?"
"Oh, a couple of days. The trick was keeping the parts we already made fresh so they wouldn't spoil before we finished the rest of it. Kristoff helped me with that, grabbed me a few blocks of ice; normally I would ask you to do it with a little magic, but I mean, since it was a surprise for you that would have been pretty stupid."
"Yes, I suppose so," she giggled, rubbing her fingertips against each other experimentally. "Smooth frosting… buttercream?"
"Of course! And I wanted to add a bunch of berries, but then it wouldn't have looked like my bed, because I don't normally have a bunch of berries on it." While Elsa laughed again, I slipped my arms around her waist. "And yeah, I know you still think it's weird I wanted to be in a cake like this. Plus it's a big waste of food. But for just this one birthday, the first one since we reunited, I wanted to give you something so big it was literally all around us. Like we're part of the cake instead of just the other way around."
Her voice was so gentle and warm when she responded, "I believed you the first time, Anna. But thank you for elaborating. I love knowing how you think, how your mind works. My amazing, clever sister."
Again, we kissed, deeper and longer and with no inhibitions. We tried to restrain ourselves when we were out in public, of course, but alone in my room? Nobody looking over our shoulders? Free as wild horses.
By the time we came up for air, I was no longer the clean one because we had been rolling around in the cake-bed. Sure, I still felt guilty for putting the castle cooks through so much work just so we could wreck it, but at least Kristoff and I gave them a hand — and I gave them the day off once they were through. Anyway, basically the only places where chocolate and frosting hadn't accumulated multiple layers was our faces, because they were so close to each other that nothing could get in between them.
"Are we supposed to be eating any of this?" Elsa laughed, running her finger through some on my shoulder.
"Well, yeah. I wouldn't have done this if it was just for show; this might as well have been a big frosted mud pie." Then I held up…
"Anna, where could you possibly have been hiding that?!"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Elsa merely blinked at me for a few seconds until I caved. "Okay, I had it in my butt."
"What- that sounds incredibly painful!"
"No, no, I was just clenching my cheeks on the handle. Obviously! Like I used the handle outside your door that first time. Come on, do you really think anybody would stick the pointy part into anywhere that sensitive?"
"Well, it is you," she laughed as she reached for the fork. Our fork. "Though I suppose I admire the control you have over your muscles back there." Then she hesitated, her brow furrowing. I could figure out what was holding her back.
"I also took one of Gerda's very thorough baths," I informed her to put her fears at ease. Which made her finally take it with a slight shake of her head. "Oh — and I helped one of the servants mop the floor before we got started in here. Trust me, when I say you can eat off the floor, I really mean it this time."
"You really have thought of everything; such attention to detail. It's almost a little scary."
"Love makes you a little scary sometimes, I guess."
"I guess." Then she slid the fork through some of the cake that we hadn't already rolled in, bringing it up to my lips. "After you."
"Oh! Wait… you first, it's your birthday."
"Diving into it counted as me going first," she chuckled. "Besides, I tasted a little on your lips once they caught some from my lips. Go on." And since I had no argument against that, and she was looking at me with those bemused, insistent eyes, I took the bite into my mouth.
"Ohmyghob, ibzo goob!"
"Anna, manners." Which I could appreciate the irony, since there were very little manners involved in rolling around in a giant cake. Probably. Maybe they do that more often in Corona…
"You have GOT to try this," I gushed once I had swallowed, grabbing the fork and scooping up another big bite for my sister.
"Can't I have a different fork?" But I wasn't budging. And she knew how important that particular utensil was to the both of us. "Gerda bathed you the same way she bathed me, didn't she?"
"It was like standing in a geyser."
"Fine." She accepted her first proper bite. Her blue eyes slid closed in ecstasy as she hummed her approval, eventually nodding after she had chewed for a moment.
"Amazing, right?" All she did was nod, raising a hand to give the okay symbol. So I helped myself to another bite, clutching my hand to my chest as tears welled up in my eyes.
Seriously, it was that good. Best cake I ever had in my life, up to and including the one with my sister's extra frosting.
"Okay," Elsa panted a couple minutes later when we had eaten our fill for the moment. "I was teasing you before, but I take it all back; I do want to live here and sleep here."
"Surrounded by layers of chocolatey goodness?" I giggled as I flopped onto my back, spread eagle in piles of sweet perfection. It was like Heaven, or Valhalla or whatever you believe is the good afterlife.
"Exactly. Fun and function." I glanced over to see she was lying on her side, propped up on one elbow so she could look down at me with a smile full of so much affection that my heart skipped a beat. "So very you."
At first all I did was chuckle a little and smile up at her. But then when she leaned down to kiss my chest, I let my eyes fall closed as a little sigh escaped my lips. "Mmm…"
"You were after something like this, I believe?"
Opening my eyes again, I was just in time to see her tongue slide across the meat of my right breast, the one closest to her. The track of freckled skin she revealed by cutting through the chocolate confection gleamed from her saliva, and it was somehow both offensive and arousing at the same time.
"Y-yeah. Something like that." I cleared my throat and caressed along her back, through cake and hair. "But you don't have to. If that whole courting thing is so-"
"We can take a break," she interrupted with an impish smile. "One night, for both Yule and my birthday. And for you, because I know how hard it has been to keep your hands off me."
A blast of air exploded from my lungs as she licked again. "HAH! W-wow, somebody's conceited in here, and I think her name rhymes with… with, uh…"
"With what? Jelsa?"
"No, that's not a thing."
I was still trying to think of a rhyme for her name when she found my nipple, and my squeal blasted every thought out of both of our minds. My chest was a feast for my sister for the moment as my conscious thoughts faded, simply letting her enjoy me. Because I enjoyed it just as much. A few times, she hit the nerves just right that I twitched, digging my nails briefly into her back and making her hiss in response. Some extra added fun.
Then she started moving down my stomach. I knew where she was going; this wasn't our first time trying this particular activity. But the butterflies were as fresh as ever, and my thighs tried to trap her head there.
"Oh, not tonight?" she purred.
"Reflex," I panted shortly, trying not to laugh at the cake all over her face now. Because even though it was funny, it also wasn't… since she was about to go to town on me.
Oh, she did. She really, really did — and it blew my mind so much more this time, somehow. Maybe it was because for the past few months, I only had that fork handle for company in my bed. Being pent up and needy tends to make the release ten times stronger, you know.
"Elsa!" I whined after a few hours. Okay, it was probably a minute or two, but it felt like so long! "You're really… how did you… get this good?!"
By the time she came up for air to answer me, she was gripping my ass cheeks to hold my pelvis closer to her face. "You're worth trying my best for, Anna. And… I may have practiced on an ice-replica." When I laughed at that, a frosting-smeared eyebrow arched. "Ooh…"
"What?"
"Oh, nothing. Your backside is so firm, and I felt it flexing in my hands. Powerful."
"Y-yeah, I exercise a lot. Could probably pick up a gold coin with it."
"Really?" I felt her poking around back there, and I clenched — again, reflex. "Wow. Do you think… you could squeeze this?"
Before I had any chance to ask a question or protest, I felt a finger sliding between my cheeks. What in the fjord was Elsa doing?! It felt wrong, and disturbing… and hot? Was it hot somehow?! Maybe, but only because it was her, and she had already been going down on me, I'm pretty sure; if anybody else had tried that, especially when I wasn't already chomping at the bit to get off, their hand would be kindling for the fireplace in the corner.
So don't let anybody tell you Elsa is a prude who would never do anything like that. That whole regal facade is just a smoke screen. She can get just as wild as me.
"Wow, your muscles really are strong," Elsa breathed in honest surprise, not just teasing me. "I'm impressed."
Freya, I tried so hard to hold it together. To control my reaction. But as she dragged her finger back from my crack, brushing the little forbidden spot that I had been trying not to think about, I shivered and let out a little moan. Dooming myself.
"Anna?"
"Yes! I m-mean, hello, yeah, you can… you can start back in on the goods now! Remember my goods? Right there in front of you?"
"No, wait. Did you enjoy…?" Probably trying to spare me some embarrassment, she didn't finish the sentence. Instead, she raised her frosting-covered finger and flexed it in my field of vision.
"Oh, did I really get cake in there, too? Sheeze, we've really been going crazy!"
My nervous laughter made it way too obvious I was just trying to distract my sister. Why was I so bad at that sometimes? She looked at me suspiciously for a moment, then glanced at the finger, then back at me.
"Anna-"
"Please, can we not-"
"Anna, it's okay. If you want me to leave that alone, I will; I was only asking how you felt about it. That's all."
Though her words didn't dial back my embarrassment, it soothed away the anxiety spike. "Oh. Well… no, I didn't mind that much. Not really. It's just because… like, after all you've been doing to my clit and tits, I'm kind of sensitive… everywhere. So it was pretty interesting, but I would never ask you to do it again! That's too big a favour!"
Elsa thought that over for a moment, and I finally started to relax. Then she kissed my inner thigh. "Just relax, my love. My Lord Anna." I groaned, thinking back to the coronation ball. Even though it all worked out okay. "I'll take care of you. And all you have to do is ask, and I will stop or change what I am doing. You can always talk to me, alright?"
"Okay," I said, completely relieved. My queen was so sweet to me, always taking care of me as much as she could. Making me feel safe.
Well, I did feel a little less safe when she started kissing closer to my behind. And then when I felt two thumbs pulling the cheeks apart, I wriggled all over and gasped out, "WHOA! Elsa, are you- you're not gonna-"
"Just going to try to get the cake in here," she laughed softly. "Unless you have objections."
Did I? The whole thing was too weird to have any objections. And while I was still trying to come up with one, I felt that wriggling tongue press somewhere I had never wanted or needed it to go. Was Elsa really doing this? She really didn't mind? We did enough wrong and taboo things already that this just seemed like one step too far! But the way she was going at my ass suggested she didn't agree.
And it was… different. Not good, not bad; just unsettling even while it was stimulating. When she was still at it a minute later with no signs of stopping, one of my hands started trailing the handle of that trusty fork down my stomach. Maybe, if I could take care of the main attraction, a little sideshow in the back room wouldn't be so bad.
"Mm?" she hummed, tongue still sliding over my taut skin. She must have seen my fingers moving, because she drew back with a chuckle. "Oh, did you need me to move along?"
"Y-yeah, Elsa, I… we could try that again later, but right now I'm…"
With a solemn nod, she went right back to going down on me. Who could complain about a girlfriend like that? Just takes care of my needs without any complaint. What an angel.
"Oh ffff- MMM!" Yeah, I had to scream into my hand to let out some of my energy. Luckily, it wasn't the one holding the fork or I might have stabbed myself in the face. A minute later, I gasped, "Elsa! I'm almost there! Almost there!"
My sister did not slow down until I actually was there. It felt like she had six tongues instead of two — which she might actually have been able to pull off if she used her ice powers, but I didn't feel her mouth get any colder. I came so hard and shook all over, and the whole time Elsa just held onto my hips and devoured me like I was the best cake she had ever tried. Which was probably how she felt.
Once my heat faded, she lowered me into the cake again and smirked. "That happened awfully quickly for someone who didn't like me playing with her a little lower than usual."
"Y-yeah! Well… you… let me get pent up for multiple months!"
"That is fair. I hope my apology was satisfactory."
Pretending to think real hard about it, I screwed up my face and tapped my chin. Elsa laughed. "Weeeeeelllllllllll… on one condition."
"What condition?" She started when I moved to pin her to the bed. "Oh!"
"This one." My chosen target was her neck. She shivered a little when I ran my tongue along it, enjoying the rich chocolate mixing with the light purity of her skin. I wanted to eat Elsa whole.
"Anna… you… make it hard to breathe."
"Elsa…"
"N-no, I… I'm really-!"
With a shock, I realized she meant the way my hand was pushing into the middle of her abdomen. "OH! Shit, Elsa, I'm sorry, I didn't mean-" As she took a deep breath, I caressed her side. "Better? Man, I am just really dumb sometimes…"
Elsa pulled me down into her embrace. "We already covered that. You are not dumb. You have never been dumb."
"You sure? I mean, not that I'm trying to argue with you, but you keep saying that and then I keep doing dumb things."
"Because you're excited. I am, too; I've just had a lot more practice... controlling myself."
For good reason. But since she wasn't judging me, I pushed myself back up to begin devouring the cake covering her ribs and stomach. She giggled a couple of times, and I smiled at the way her abdominal muscles flexed under my lips, bumping up against my nose. I could have kept eating off her and exploring her for hours and never got bored. Not once.
"Mmhhh, this really is so good," I sighed as I got closer and closer to the finish line. "The cake, you… who could ask for more?"
"I'm glad you… approve." But I could tell she was nervous. Why? It's not like this was the first time we had done anything like this; just the first in a little while.
"Elsa?" She didn't answer right away. Watching her bite her lip and look anxious was cute, but I still prompted her, "Hey. You okay?"
"What? Oh… yes, I'm fine." My face must have looked extra unconvinced, because a second later, she relented. "I'm still a little afraid of losing control of my powers when I…"
"When you what? Oh, wait, you're- right, got it, you don't need to explain. But hey, even when you've done that before, all you did was give me a little extra blast of snow. I don't mind a cold cake."
Tittering the slightest amount, despite the fear in her eyes, she reached down to run her fingers through my sugar-matted fringe. "Neither of us do. And I know you're probably right, but I can't help but worry I will hurt you for a third time. I don't think I could take that."
"Me, either. But you won't. I hear you, I do, but I know you have a handle on this now. You've been doing so good! Nobody in Arendelle is scared of you anymore. So just… let me do the magic this time."
That was that. Even though she was still biting her lip, her brow still creased, she didn't protest further as I kissed the inside of her thigh, devouring the frosting I found there. But I still didn't like that she was wound up so tight. So I figured hey, why not try to loosen her up?
"So, if I get a couple of fingers in you and really start going to town… does that make this pound-cake?"
Oh, now she looked mad. I barely had enough time to register the movement before her foot was pushing into my face, trying to shove me off the bed entirely.
"Hey, whoa whoa, Elsa! Come on, I'm sorry!"
"Why don't I believe you?" she demanded in a would-be stern voice. The answer might have been because I was laughing up a storm. But I caught sight of her smile, which told me she was just trying to mess around with me. One of the many things I had been missing over the past thirteen years.
"Truce! I'll keep my corny jokes to myself if you don't shove me the rest of the way off this bed!" Really, I already had to whip one leg back and brace against the floor to keep from falling as it was. But she slowly began to relent. "Thank you."
"I ought to put my finger back in your 'fork holder' for that one," she grunted.
"It was one time! I don't go around carrying forks back there all the time, you know!"
"Actually, no, I don't know that. Because I never inspect the back of your dress when you are casually walking down the halls."
"You could, though…" As she just shook her head at me, I decided to get a little more playful.
"AH! Not my feet — don't bite my feet, you know how ticklish iyyyahahahhaaaa!"
Too late. My teeth were nibbling all over her chocolatey toes in retaliation for almost being knocked on my butt. The way she began kicking was extremely dangerous, but at least now my childhood memories were intact; I remembered learning by watching our father that you had to hold her leg steady when you tickled her, or you were asking for an eyeful of flailing heel.
"STOP!" she cackled. "I'm- I am about to ruin this cake! Anna!"
Right away, I broke off with a laugh. No matter how much fun I was having, it wasn't worth ruining an entire cake-bed by making her wet herself. "Okay, okay. Yellow frosting is as bad as yellow snow, I guess."
"You… monster!" But she was still laughing a little, cheeks flushed, chest rising and falling in an attempt to regain her breath. Which looked like she had been doing something else.
Flawless. I was head over heels, alright.
"Sorry. But do you know how cute you are when you get tickled?"
Clearing her throat, she pushed up onto her elbows before answering me. "That is… because I didn't get to run around outside the way you did. Not after my ninth birthday. So my feet are…"
Oh. Well that was a sad reason for them to be extra sensitive. But I decided to simply kiss the one I had been attacking and say, "Perfect. You were gonna say 'perfect' right? Because that's the only answer I'm accepting right now."
Shaking her head a little at me, she let out an exasperated sigh that was followed by a small smile. "You're too kind to me."
"Nah. Just know you deserve the best."
Again, I kissed, and she hummed as her smile grew. When my lips parted to let my tongue slide between two of her toes, she rolled her eyes and pulled her foot away. "Fine, I get it, you love every inch of me."
"Glad we got that straightened out. Now, I have my eye on a couple of pastries… one sec."
Her hand raised up to rest on the back of my head when I attacked her chest. I figured she would probably appreciate having some time to recover before I went back between her thighs. The sounds floating out of her lungs were every bit as enthralling as if I had gone straight for the crux of her thighs, of course, but at least this way I could enjoy my cake a little longer.
"You are… so persistent." I switched to the other peak, my hand wrapping around the mountain below and kneading just enough to add pressure and pleasure without causing pain. "Mmmhh, and I almost want to ask if you have been practicing on someone else!"
"Maybe I made an ice-replica," I shot at her as I moved back down. Her grin was so huge. "Okay, I'm ready. Let's do this."
"You make it sound like you're about to go cliff-diving!" she laughed.
"Oh, I am. I'm about to dive down deep into your sound."
Elsa's lips parted, probably to reprimand me for another corny line. But all that came out was a moan when I pressed my mouth tightly against her soft folds through the frosting and chocolate. And I intended to clean every speck of that from her by the time I was finished.
My Elsa. My queen of snow and ice, grace and beauty and power. The only woman in the world. My mind and heart were full of desire for the goddess I was making writhe with my every teasing touch. And it wasn't just that she was the most beautiful girl in Arendelle, not that she had given me an orgasm so recently. This was about way more than repaying a debt or physical beauty; it was my sister. The one person who had always been a part of me, and who always will.
"A-Anna!" she gasped — well, she had been doing that for a couple of minutes, but this one was louder and stronger. Somehow, I just knew what she meant. "I'm… I'm still scared! I love you!"
I loved her, too. But I wanted to show her in some way besides slowing down to tell her with words. So I moved one hand from her hip to push our fork into hers, which had been clutching uselessly at another pile of birthday cake. And wow, did she respond! My hand was caught with the fork between our fingers, and it was such a tight grip that I felt like she would never let me go again.
Which did as much for me as I might have been doing for her.
There was more snow this time. Somehow, I had kind of expected that; I mean, when you tell an ice witch that she shouldn't hold back with her power, you're going to get more power. Makes sense, right? But even while I was still feeling her flesh pulse against my lips and tongue, her juices running down my chin, tiny pinpricks of cold were dusting my back in the spots that weren't covered by chocolate.
"Oh," I panted when I finally came up for air, satisfied that she no longer needed little licks for little aftershocks. "Snow! See? I told you everything would be fine. And this isn't even that bad!"
Though of course, we were both looking around at the winter wonderland filling the room. It was only a couple of inches deep, but spread over that large an area it still added up to a decent amount.
"It's… a lot," she panted. "But at least there aren't any… nothing dangerous."
Scoffing, I crawled up to lay my head on her shoulder, curling my entire body around hers as tightly as I could. Needing to be that close to her now. "Dangerous? You? Come on, you're a big pussycat."
"We both know… that's… a stretch." Finally, she cleared her throat and simply took in a couple of deep breaths so she wouldn't be so winded. Then she turned to look into my eyes with a smile full of afterglow and affection. "Thank you. For that, for all of this; for my perfect birthday night."
"Yeah. You got it. I'm always going to show you how much I love you, no matter how big I have to go to get the point across."
"Anna, you don't have to. I already know." We shared a firm kiss. Then she crinkled her nose. "Oh, that's… did you really enjoy me adding that to your cake? It's so strange."
"Maybe I wouldn't have if I didn't know what it was," I admitted with a giggle. "But knowing? Oh yeah. Totally hot."
"If you say so." Then she suddenly looked horrified. "Oh no — my lips have- you were kissing-"
"All I tasted was Sister-Queen and cake," I headed her off before she actually said it out loud. "Don't have to make it even more gross. Seriously, you didn't run away from my butt? I thought that would be a fate worse than death!"
"No, no," she reassured me, completely contented now that we had both enjoyed ourselves and could relax. "I wasn't lying for your benefit; it wasn't that bad. Especially when mixed with chocolate cake. Though I agree with you about my essence on this subject; probably wouldn't have enjoyed it not knowing what it is, or by itself. Well…"
Running my index fingertip in small circles on her stomach, I prompted, "Well?"
"I could try it by itself. Maybe. Someday."
"Go ahead. I won't… well, I might judge a little, but since we're already sisters who knock boots, it's not gonna hold a lot of water."
"Mmhmm. I suppose that's a valid point."
"Ohhhhh, I just wanna lay here forever!" I burst out as I curled even harder around Elsa, and she laughed again, nuzzling into my hair. "Though I do have another bath ready in the next chamber. I'm no doctor, but it's probably not the best idea for us to leave cake in some of the places we have cake right now."
Nodding, she whispered, "In a minute. This is so comfortable. Actually, I'm surprised we're not sinking all the way down to the floor."
"Oh — yeah, that's because we took a bed-sized wooden box and made the cake on top of that. Like, it's pretty much a bunch of little cakes smushed together in a grid pattern to make one huge sheet cake, and then we just put the icing all over it and down the sides with the right colours and patterns. So it looked like a real bed, with a quilt and all."
"Clever," she chuckled, scratching at my rib cage just enough to prompt a giggle from me before she stopped. "Really, I was flabbergasted at first, but now I really admire all the work you did for this. Because it turned out to be a lot of fun."
Her praise made my heart glow. "It did, didn't it? Chocolate cake slumber party. Go me."
We both fell into the kind of comfortable silence you can only have with family. Lover, sister, friend… Elsa was all of those things to me. And we had beaten all the odds and found our way back to each other, and we were alive, and our lives were wonderful. There wasn't much else I could ask for.
"I love you, my Anna," she breathed into my hair before rolling over to prop herself up on her elbow and look at me. I mirrored the gesture, gazing into her eyes.
"Love you, too, Majesty. And I always will."
Elsa kissed me hard and long, and held me close for such a long time that time itself ceased to hold meaning. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill anniversary of being born, but I finally knew: what we had? Different-good. The best kind of different a princess could ask for.

Self rec fic
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💜
Thanks @annaofthenorthernlights for tagging me!
1. Pretty Please (Kristanna, E) This is my very favorite fic ever. Anna and Kristoff have this super intense relationship based on love and trust. And yeah, maybe Kristoff likes to wear lace panties and be told he's pretty. I wrote it for @99goosebumps for the 2023 BDSM exchange, but I know it's not for everyone. More than anything, though, I wrote it for me.
“Show me how bad you want it, Kristoff. Show me how bad you want me to spank you.” “You think I only want to sink my tongue into your $!@# so you’ll spank me?” His smile made her heart flutter as much as his words, but she tested him anyway. “Pretty men say pretty please.’” “You think I’m pretty?” he asked, each word punctuated by a sloppy, wet kiss on her thigh, "when I wear my lace panties?" When she didn't answer, he looked at her with lifted brows and puppy dog eyes. She cupped his cheeks and said, “You're not pretty, Kristoff; you're very pretty."
2. The Chaise (Gaston/Adam, E) It's seduction via flattery. This one sort of happened in a fever. The idea just kind of snowballed, and I'm still extremely tickled by the fic. Adam knows how vain Gaston is and that Gaston just can't keep his clothes on when someone wants to admire his muscles. I still go back and reread it and giggle out loud.
Adam debates buying a small chaise longue at his local antique shop until he finds out it comes with an extra large delivery man.
3. The Jakku Lantern (Kristanna, E) I wrote this as a birthday present to a friend that's deep into the Mando fandom. (And for Kristanna Halloween 2022). I wanted to combine our favorites. Kristoff's Mando helmet is stuck! Kristoff makes the most of this protection against his social anxiety to woo Anna in a way he wouldn't have been able to otherwise. It was so fun combining fandoms like this. Plus it's a Halloween fic, so it's extra fun.
4. Boom, Clap! (Kristanna, E) I wrote this one for Frozen Smut Week 2023. It started out as just another S&M fic, but turned into the story of a war-injured vet who discovered the answer to his pain was more pain. And he didn't expect his heart to be mended in the process. It became something much more meaningful the more I learned about some of the things soldiers face at war and the things they face when they come back home.
Boom, clap! A sharp pain sears across Kristoff’s face from the force of Anna’s hand slapping him to the present. Stars twinkle just inside his field of vision as he rubs his cheek, and his heart beats faster in excitement. He hasn’t felt this good in years. Until an irate voice says, “What the fuck?” Anna stands in front of him, angrier than ever, and he smiles a little more. “You think that’s funny?” she asks. The correct answer is no, of course, but the right answer is that he’s elated. He looks down to hide the smile he couldn’t make go away. That’s when he sees his brace and remembers his injured leg. The only pain he feels, though, is on his cheek. “I had it handled,” she says and shows him the red rhinestone-encrusted mace attached to her keychain, which her thumb sits on top of. He grins, and says, more bravely than he would have had he not been floating on Cloud 9, “Or you could just slap me again.” Her red lips slowly curve into a cat-like smile. She folds her arms and coolly leans against the wall. Her eyes glitter with mischief, and she purrs, “Well, now you’ve got my attention.”
5. The Refugees (Kristanna, M) This is my baby. I've done some really hardcore world-building and created this really intense love story about soul mates who overcome immense obstacles to be together. I wrote this for the people who, unfortunately, knew after chapter 3 where this was going. Honestly, though, I last updated in April and I've been working up the courage to continue with it.
Kristoff, a refugee of the Northuldran genocide, and Anna, an Arendellian immigrant with a hole in her heart, fall in love and have a complicated and intense relationship.
I'm gonna tag: @99goosebumps @true--north @dei2dei @nonamemanga @jessi-skylark and anyone else who wants to show off their stuff!

Elsanna Week
Ao3
***KRISTOFF NEVER EXISTED***
Day 6: Chivalry
Anna had left Arendelle due to the kingdom knowing that she and her sister, Elsa, loved each other romantically. Elsa is visiting her in the Enchanted Forest and they have just finished lunch and are napping.
Anna woke up, feeling comfortable for the first time in a while. She quickly observed her surroundings and remembered what happened before she slept. A smile formed on her face and she got up, bringing Elsa’s head to her lap.
Anna stroked her hair, and a moment later, Elsa’s eyes started fluttering. “Hello sleepyhead,” Anna greeted in a sweet and soft tone and looked down at her sister’s eyes. Elsa giggled, “Well hello.”
“I’m back!” Olaf suddenly shouted, making the sisters jump. He stopped in front of them, “The forest is so beautiful! However, I think we should go, the sun is setting.” “Ah, yes,” Elsa said, looking up, “Come on, Anna.” She stood up and held out a hand which Anna gladly took.
The triad all went back to the beach. Once they got there, they saw that Nøkk Junior was there too. “Ah,” Anna nodded, “so you’ll be sitting alone this time?” Elsa quickly used her eyes to tell Olaf to get on, so he did. “No,” Elsa replied simply, “you’re coming too.” Before she could do anything Anna was sitting on the water spirit with her sister. He quickly galloped away from shore with his mini version not far behind.
“Elsa!” Anna shouted. She didn’t reply for a moment because they were going pretty fast, but when Nøkk slowed down, she asked, “Yeah?” “Why. Am. I. Here!?” Anna accompanied every word with a shake on Elsa’s shoulder. “Because,” she stretched out, “we’re going back to Arendelle. Me, you, and Olaf.” “Yeah. Why?” Anna questioned, slamming her face to Elsa’s back. She got a hum in reply, and nothing else.
Once they got back to Arendelle, there were whispers going on between the merchants that were there. However, they know better than to actually go against the queen.
“Elsa,” Anna muttered, trying not to move her lips, “they’re staring.” “Let them,” Elsa answered just above a whisper, but facing the opposite direction to get Nøkk back in the water. Anna chewed on her lips and looked down, waiting for her sister lead the way.
“Are you nervous?” Elsa whispered, standing next to her sister. Anna shook her head and whispered back, “Nope. Not at all.” “Anna,” Elsa sighed, brushing her lips against her sister’s, “it’s okay, anyone who doesn’t want to accept us can leave.”
Elsa held her right hand down out of habit and Olaf went to grab it. With her other hand, she grabbed Anna’s hand and stroked it. They walked pass many citizens on the way to the castle, but the royals paid no mind.
The first person they see in the castle is Gerda, so Elsa told her, “Tell the council to make being in a relationship with someone with your own blood legal. If you need help, ask Kai.” “Yes, your majesty,” she immediately answered, bowing her head.
Elsa didn’t bother to remind her that she didn’t need to use her title, but instead went to the direction of her study. “Olaf, you can go now,” Elsa confirmed when he stopped and look up. He waddled somewhere, Elsa didn’t bother to try and remember where.
Elsa, still holding onto Anna’s hand, brought her to the castle’s bell made to be used only for an emergency. She rung it, and already saw people gathering below. The queen and the princess ran down and out of the castle together.
When Anna was out, there were whispers between the citizens. The royals ignored them and went on the higher part of the area. “People of Arendelle,” Elsa shouted, silencing everyone. It was so quiet that it seemed like everything stopped moving, the wind stopped blowing, everyone stopped breathing, the universe was frozen in time.
The queen took a deep breath and continued, albeit a bit more quiet, the loudest she can speak without shouting, “As you can see, I brought Princess Anna back here. You are also aware of our relationship. Arendelle will allow every kind of relationship, and I say every. However weird you think they are, it’s still allowed. You can live with Anna and my relationship, you don’t have to accept it, or if you plan to do something bad to us, you will immediately get banished from Arendelle. Do I make myself clear?”
There were muttering of the citizens saying, “Yes, your majesty.” “Now, we—,” Elsa started, but got cut of. “Excuse me,” said a meek voice. The queen looked down and saw a child, no older than ten. He had brown hair and was wearing a red t-shirt with jeans. However, Elsa don’t judge people by how they look. “Do you wish to oppose Anna and me?” she asked, her voice a tad louder than usual.
“N-no,” he answered, “I- I just want to- congratulate you… and Princess Anna.” There were a few gasps from the crowd. Elsa was taken aback, eyes wide. The child chewed on his lips, “I- I’m sorry, I said too much.”
Elsa shook her head, “No, come up here.” He looked up with curious eyes and stepped up. Elsa glanced at her sister and they both were thinking the same thing. At the same time, the sisters knelt down and hugged him. The child stayed frozen for a second, but soon hugged them back. He closed his eyes and smiled.
“Thank you,” Elsa whispered. Anna continued, “So much.” When they pulled apart, the boy was grinning. “Go August!” someone yelled. Then, there was silence. The triad on the stage watched the crowd in curiosity. Suddenly, someone whistled. Then clapping occurred. Then cheering. Everyone was cheering.

Olaf's role in the Frozen Franchise.
Although most of the Frozen Fandom, on and off the internet and of any age, love and know how important Olaf is to the Frozen Franchise - there are still many people who are not absolutely obsessed with Frozen (I know, shocking right? Haha) who don't understand what Olaf's significance or purpose is in the Franchise. Many don't understand why he's there, and many find him very annoying and pointless.
Since I haven't really sat down to write out a full analysis on Olaf, I think it's about time I discuss why Olaf is important and what exactly he represents in the Franchise. Of course, there are many analysis blogs that talked about this, But I wanted to throw in my two cents and maybe refresh some old ideas!
~The Bond~
When we first 'unofficially' meet Olaf in Frozen, he was being built by the sisters. The funny thing is, is when Elsa was building Olaf, it seemed as though she was trying to actually build an Anna snowman, as Anna is seen making a funny face - as if to act as a model for Elsa to reference.
Tumblr media
Then, Elsa turns him around and says his name is Olaf, and Anna responds with a deceleration of love -
"I love you Olaf!"
-and a big hug. But then, she immediately looks at Elsa, as if what she really means is -
"I love you Elsa!"
Tumblr media
However, when the accident happens and Elsa starts to freeze the ballroom, we see that her magic destroys the first Olaf snowman. As if to say that all the happiness that the girls were experiencing is now coming to an end.
Tumblr media
Here, in the very first scene, we get a very clear picture of what this Snowman is meant to represent. As Jen Lee states in the Script notes interview, Olaf is meant to represent the sister's love for each other. As we see in these scenes, Elsa makes Olaf with Anna as a reference, Anna declares she loves him while looking at Elsa, and then the snowman is destroyed by uncontrolled magic.
This follows exactly how things turn out in the film itself, how the girls are close and love each other initially, but fear comes in and destroys their relationship.
Later on in the film, the first thing Elsa builts when she finally feels a sense of freedom is the Olaf we know and love. However, as a side note, he is still connected to this first snowman, as we see in Once Upon a Snowman (2020). He hears what the girls had said to that first Olaf and figures out his name and what he likes.
Elsa builts Olaf first because what she wants more than anything is the freedom to get to know and be around Anna, although she might not consciously know it at the time. If you count the Broadway and soft canon like I do, then we know this is very true from the song Dangerous to Dream.
And could I open up the door? And finally see you, face to face I guess the queen can change the rules But not the reasons they're in place.
I can't be what you expect of me And I'm not what I seem But I would love to know you Is it dangerous to dream?
Olaf's Frozen Adventure (2017) focuses heavily on the idea that Olaf represents Anna and Elsa's love for one another. Since Olaf represents that love, he is bound and determined to find a tradition that the two can have. Of course, we learn that Olaf himself is their tradition since they share drawings and crafts of him every Christmas.
The importance of this is that it shows that Anna and Elsa also recognize that he represents their love, as they used him to keep them connected over the years even though they were apart.
~Personalities~
Something that is very curious that also cements this idea is how Olaf actually has the personality traits of both sisters.
He is goofy and reckless like Anna, running immediately into things without giving it a second thought. He even is seen saying some of the same things she said as a child.
"The sky's awake!"
"Ahta-who-what?"
Olaf also shows Anna's unconditional and sometimes naive love. He immediately assumes Elsa is good even though he witnesses her ice spike going through him, much like how Anna immediately trusts Hans even though she barely knows him. He also lets himself into Elsa's palace without any caution, similar to how Anna tries to get close to Elsa during FTFTIF Reprise, even though she's surrounded by magic.
When it comes to Elsa, Olaf sometimes displays a certain sarcastic side that fans often attributed to Elsa. When he sees Kristoff talking to rocks, he immediately announces that he's crazy and is very judgmental. Much like how Elsa saw him in the ice palace and asks who he is before going back to her panic. Then, in Olaf's Frozen Adventure (2017), he immediately judges Kristoff again when he says -
"You're a princess. You don't have to settle."
This mirrors Elsa's overall disgust at Kristoff licking his sculpture and inviting them to the same.
Tumblr media
He also shares Elsa's curiosity - Elsa is shown to be a very curious person who wants to know more about herself, and later the Enchanted Forest. She wants to test the limits of her powers in Frozen, and then later wants to know where they come from in Frozen 2. In the book A Sister More Like Me, which I also consider soft canon, she is also shown to have an interest in learning, as we see her surrounded by books and learning geometry.
Tumblr media
This matches with Olaf's overall curious nature as well. As Soon as Olaf learns to read, he reads countless books and recites many facts. Of course, we know that in Forest of Shadows (2019), Anna also enjoys reading but becomes a bit more cautious with her curiosity in Frozen 2.
Also, like both Anna and Elsa, he has the same fear of change. He questions if anything is truly permanent and is always concerned with the inevitable. It's almost as if he evolved with the sisters and developed their same fears as he got 'older'.
Olaf also shares his selfless nature with both sisters, as he tells Anna that some people are worth melting for. Anna and Elsa both share this sentiment, as they both sacrifice themselves for people they care about.
Olaf being a bit of both sisters is supported by the Broadway as well, in the song A Little Bit of You.
Oh! So we'll build him back together Yes, together, that's the key 'Cause he's a little bit of you and me.

so in frozen 2 let’s assume our heros have a few quest to complete for.. I don’t know finding the ingradients for a spell sort of thing.
and at the begining of a particular difficult task Elsa feels sad and think it’s impossible to do the thing, so Anna starts to sing a very inspirational song about how together they can do anything. and it’s really motivational and empowering, and everybody is singing finding the strength in themselves. (the audience too).
And there there’s Hans watching with a raised eyebrow at first, then he dissappears.  A the end of the song the fohana turns and he stands there judging them because while they sang he actually did the thing.

Summary: Kristoff and Anna share a quiet moment alone during their first holiday season together. (Some canon-compliant fluff taking place directly after Olaf's Frozen Adventure!)
The moon lingered high in the sky as one by one the Arendellian citizens began to take their leave from the holiday festivities.
After the town search party found Olaf, everyone had stuck around for an impromptu holiday party of sorts. Elsa erected a beautiful Christmas tree, the castle staff and townsfolk brought out food and drinks to share, and everyone spent time enjoying the end to the first day of the holiday season.
Kristoff watched with rapt attention as Anna tended to the people of Arendelle. She offered them food, danced with the little ones, and checked in with each person, young or old. In truth, they could have left a while ago, and perhaps they should have. He saw the way she stifled a few yawns, the way she stumbled over her own feet. But Anna stayed. She stayed until the very last family bid their farewells. Only then did she turn to Kristoff with tired eyes and tell him she was ready to go home.
“Did you have fun?”
“Oh yes,” she said with a yawn. “The best Yule bell day ever.”
She leaned on his shoulder and looked up at him, eyes shimmering with the light of the stars above. Kristoff’s heart surged.

Elsa bid them farewell at the top of the staircase once they got back to the palace. Anna took her into a tight hug, and Kristoff gave her one as well before they took their leave to their respective sides of the hall. Kristoff smiled as Anna passed by her own room and continued on down the hall toward his.
“Can I-” She always asked. But the answer was always the same.
“Yes.”
They weren’t technically supposed to be sleeping in the same room, but after almost 5 months of Kristoff being around the castle and 4 of him having his own sleeping quarters, most everyone in the palace turned a blind eye to the matter, save for Elsa who would always tease them at dinner (to which Anna would kick her playfully and Elsa would laugh behind her hand). The only guards and maids who came by the sleeping quarters in the evenings or the early mornings were the most trusted and beloved. None of them would dare soil Anna’s reputation or happiness. Besides, she had been alone all those years.
“Best to let her make up for lost time,” he’d overheard Gerda saying one evening.
Countless nights spent together allowed them to settle comfortably into routine. Kristoff brushed his teeth and splashed his face with water before slipping into his palace pajamas (he loathed most of the stuffy clothes supplied to him by the palace staff, but the pajamas were to die for) and crawled into bed. He leaned back, watching Anna as she readied herself.
Her nightly routine had a lot more steps than his did, but he didn’t mind. It always gave him plenty of time to admire her while she stood by the bathroom sink.
“Help?”
She made her way to the side of the bed and stood there, beautiful shoulders and back turned to face him as she offered him the strings of her corset to untie.
It had taken him much longer than he cared to admit to learn how to work the intricate strings and knots that were her dresses and undergarments, especially as experienced as he was with rope, but he took pride in the fact that he could now help her so well. It meant that he could now undress her and re-dress her perfectly so that she could slip away to him midday and then return to her duties without raising suspicion. It had proven to be a particularly useful skill in that regard.
He kissed her shoulder as the undergarment slipped off of her and she let out a soft breath before moving to change into her nightgown.
It was rare he saw Anna in these moods. Normally she was bubbly and exuberant, filling spaces with excited rambles and stories. It was as if she had lived in silence for so long that she never wanted it to be quiet ever again. But tonight, she was still, letting thick contemplative silence fall between them.
Anna blew out the lamp and crawled in bed beside Kristoff, tucking herself delicately into his chest. She looked so small against him. So beautiful. So his.
“I love you,” he said. It felt like the best place to start.
“I love you too.” She nestled closer and breathed deeply. “I’m sleepy.”
“I can tell.” A soft, rumbling laugh left him at that. “You had fun though?”
“I did.”
“What was your favorite part?”
Anna hummed in consideration and cuddled closer into him. “Definitely watching Olaf put his star on the tree. What about yours?”
“I liked watching you dance. Especially with the kids.”
There was a time not so long ago when he may have refrained from admitting something so vulnerable or with such big implications. But they were at a point where absentminded talk of their future together was not uncommon.
“I didn’t know you were watching.”
“I couldn’t keep my eyes off of you.”
He could feel her sigh of contentment rumble against his chest and he had the urge to pull her impossibly closer until she was a part of him.
“I’m sorry we didn’t dance together.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I didn’t dance with you. I was so busy talking with everyone else and making sure that everyone was having a good time that I forgot to, I don’t know, do things that I wanted to do.”
“I’m sorry, Anna, I didn’t realize-”
“It’s okay. I had a good time, I just missed you I guess. I was trying to make it special for everyone else, and I forgot to make it special for us.” She traced circles on his chest with a delicate finger, and he watched as she bit at the inside of her cheek.
He hated watching her overanalyze herself or judge herself so harshly for things she hadn’t even done wrong.
“Alright, come on. Up.” He reached for her hand and sat up, motioning towards the floor.
“What are you doing?”
“Just for a second,” he reassured as he stood to his feet and brought her up with him.
He was lucky the moon was still streaming in through the window so that he could see her clearly.
They stood across from each other and Anna gazed at him inquisitively.
Before he felt too silly or could second guess what he was about to do, he extended a hand to her and watched as her cheeks flushed in the evening glow. “May I have this dance?”
A smile broke out onto her face and she eagerly took his hand, immediately pulling him into her and wrapping her arms around his waist. There she was. He loved when she took the lead. He swayed in time with her moves, dancing to the imagined music of her heart.
“What’s on your mind?” he asked after a moment when her swaying slowed and she pressed her head against his chest.
“Tonight was beautiful, it really was.”
Kristoff paused to let her continue. He knew that if he replied the moment would be lost, her worries pushed down only to reveal themselves another day. It was a gentle process of teaching each other to let go and be open, but it was one that he was happy to learn by her side.
“I just can’t stop thinking about how much time I lost here alone.”
His heart caught in his throat. She had lost 13 years to loneliness and confusion. 13 years of stolen time and missing moments. It was something that pained her often.
“I know.” He pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head.
“Did you have a good night?” she asked, her voice laced with the sudden worry that he hadn’t enjoyed himself.
It was as if she was afraid that if he hadn’t had a good time he would leave her. But he wouldn’t. And she knew that. She just needed to be reminded every now and again, something Kristoff was happy to do.
“I did, Anna. I always had my family during this time of year, but sometimes I still felt like an outsider. It was nice to be a part of something that was mine. This is the first Christmas in Arendelle where I felt like I belonged.”
She smiled up at him and placed a hand on his chest.
He continued, making sure she saw the earnesty in his eyes as he spoke.
“I know you feel like you need to make up for all of this lost time, and that all of these firsts need to be perfect, but tonight was ours. You were there, and Elsa was there, and Olaf, and Sven, and all of Arendelle, and that made it perfect. We were all together. And we get to do this every year for the rest of our lives.”
“You’re right.” She took a calming breath and let the tension leave her chest. “I love you.” Anna pulled him into a tight embrace, arms holding him close to her as she breathed deeply.
He felt her relax against him, his heart swimming with pride in the fact that he was able to comfort her. They had come so far together.
“I love you too.”
Her eyes flickered with their familiar, mischievous glow as she pulled back to look at him. “I’m hungry.”
Kristoff laughed. Of course she was. “Anna, it’s so late.”
“I know, but it’s that time of year,” she urged, poking at his sides and pulling another chuckle out of him.
“Okay, okay, feisty pants.”

They stole away to the kitchen, snickering as they tried to stay quiet while boiling milk and melting chocolate to blend together into a creamy, chocolatey drink. They brought their warm mugs filled to the brim with hot chocolate back to Kristoff’s room and sipped at them together on the floor. The dancing and the chocolate and the giggles took their tired eyes and traded them for ones alight with joy and lost in the possibilities of Christmases to come.
“Tell me your favorite holiday memory,” Anna said, stretching out her legs and resting back on the floor after a long sip of hot chocolate.
It didn’t take Kristoff long to think of one. It had stuck with him for as long as he could remember, and it was one of his favorites.
“This was my first Christmas with the Trolls. I think I had finally left the orphanage for good a few months before, so I had only been with them for a short while, and I remember I still felt guilty for being there.”
Anna sat up and rubbed his arm as he spoke of that time. He had told her how hard it had been, and whenever he recalled his darker days she always listened with close attention and a comforting hand rested somewhere on him to let him know that she was there. It kept him grounded, and he appreciated it more than she would probably ever know.
“I wasn’t expecting any gifts or to be involved in their celebration. I had never really been included in Christmas celebrations at the orphanage, so I was planning on heading out with Sven on Christmas and then coming back after everything was done. But on Christmas Eve, Bulda pulled me aside and told me she wanted to give me an early gift. It was this beautiful fire crystal, just like the ones that all the other trolls earn after doing something brave. She said it was mine for being so strong and for finding my way to them. She said that I was the bravest person she had ever known and that she loved me and that I had earned it.”
Kristoff felt Anna’s small hand wrap around his as he continued, fingers locking together and anchoring him to her.
“I felt awful because I hadn’t even gotten her anything in return, but she said that me finding my way to them and letting her care for me was the best gift of all.”
Kristoff wiped at a stray tear that threatened to fall as he recalled the memory.
“Sorry,” he murmured with a slight, self-conscious chuckle.
Anna wiped at his cheek with her finger, drying his tears and holding his face in her gentle hand. She hushed his apology and spoke to him in a soothing voice.
“Kristoff, that’s such a beautiful story.”
He nodded and met her eyes, suddenly unafraid to show her his that were glistening with the beginnings of happy tears.
“Do you have any favorite holiday memories?”
“Hmmm, let me think.”
She took a moment, face scrunched up in contemplation, before continuing.
“There was this one year when Elsa was the first to wake up on Christmas morning. I always woke up before her, so it was kind of a big deal and I teased her about it a bunch. But anyway, we went downstairs together, and there was this beautiful dollhouse left for us. It was so detailed. Elsa and I played with it all the time. I, uh, kicked it once in one of the first weeks Elsa went away because I was so upset. My mom got mad at me and took it away, so I don’t know where it is anymore. But I loved that thing. We both did. And that was such a beautiful Christmas, too. My dad sang for us by the fire and Elsa and I danced all night. I hope we can do things like that now that I have a family again.”
Anna squeezed Kristoff’s hand at the word family. He was family. He smiled, heart surging at the reminder that they had a lifetime of holiday memories to make together. He’d throw her a Christmas party every night if it meant filling her life with the light she had missed out on all those years.
“You’re never going to be alone again.” He said it like a promise, so soft and sure into the night.
Anna’s breath hitched at his words, and she placed a gentle kiss to his lips, stopping only to murmur against them. “What did I ever do to deserve you?”
Kristoff blushed. Despite all the time they had spent together, the smallest actions still gave him butterflies.
Anna yawned then as they parted, arms thrown up over her head in a stretch that told Kristoff the tiredness had finally caught back up to her.
“Alright, it’s bedtime.” Kristoff wasn’t sure what time it was, but he knew by the way her eyelids fluttered it was time for them to sleep. He put their empty mugs up on his desk and picked up Anna before she could protest, carrying her into his bed and placing her down gently before crawling in beside her.
“We’re going to see your family next week, right?” Anna asked as another yawn overtook her, and she resumed drawing tiny circles on Kristoff’s chest with an absentminded hand.
“Yes. They’re so excited to see you.”
“And we’re doing that thing at the orphanage, too, right?”
“Mmhmm.”
Anna had started lining up gifts for the kids at the orphanage weeks ago in preparation for their visit there. Another yawn overtook her, and Kristoff smiled as he watched the way her eyes closed and her mouth fell into a gentle smile. “Merry Christmas, Kristoff,” she said into his chest.
“Merry Christmas, Anna,” he replied as he held her closer and felt himself drifting to sleep right behind her.
