“Incredible vision by Morgan Frost. And creativity. I mean, this is an old-world play by Frost. Use the walls… but watch this. I mean, right up the front, he knows that Walker’s off to the races. He picked him out earlier in the play. Backhand touch, [to] Walker, who’s always consistently up in the play for the Flyers, with a perfectly placed shot to the blocker side.”
March 6, 2024: Sean Walker is traded from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Colorado Avalanche along with a fifth-round selection in the 2026 draft for Ryan Johansen and a conditional first-round selection in the 2025 draft. (Conditional to a top-10 pick, in which case the first round selection will be moved to 2026.)
Walker had the best year of his career with the Flyers in 2023-24, and it won't be over in Colorado. With 6 goals and 16 assists for 22 points in 63 games played and a plus-9 rating on the season, he arrived in Philadelphia with little fanfare but will be exiting beloved. He was responsible for two of the shorthanded goals that helped Philadelphia's penalty kill rank second in the entire NHL, and stood stalwart on a highly-touted defensive pairing with Nick Seeler, who just signed for 4 more years with the Flyers.
We will miss Sean Walker in Philadelphia dearly, and wish him nothing but the best in Colorado.
