Hawkeye (Part I)
Tumblr media
Summary: Six days before Christmas, a four-month pregnant (Y/N) accompanies Sam and Bucky to a performance of Rogers: The Musical while Steve and Carina stay home, and any hope of a quiet Christmas for the growing Rogers-(Y/L/N) family is dashed when the married couple catches a shocking news report that threatens to expose their friend as the world’s most prolific vigilante.
Pairing: Steve Rogers X Fem!Reader
Word Count: 2.7k
Warnings/Disclaimers: None
A/N: Hi there and welcome to the 4-part series centering around Hawkeye and the Christmas of 2024! This is such an underrated and underappreciated show, and I always knew that I wanted to write (Y/N), Steve and their growing family into it (and give a little extra love to Clint, ‘cause he deserves it!). This’ll be very faithful to the show, but expect a few surprises along the way lol thank you for reading, and I hope you all enjoy!
Hawkeye (Part I) December 19th, 2024 The Home of (Y/N) (Y/L/N) and Steve Rogers, Brooklyn (Previous One-Shot)
With Christmas only a week away, the Rogers-(Y/L/N) house was filled to the brim with festive cheer. Their beautifully adorned tree stood tall in the living room beside their grand piano and throughout the rest of the house, they’d set out their plethora of holiday decorations; thanks to Steve’s growing proficiency at baking, the air was laced with the mouthwatering aroma of peppermint, gingerbread and vanilla. The only thing that could improve their cheerful home was the laughter of close friends inspired by the greatly anticipated opening of Broadway’s newest hit show, Rogers: The Musical.
“I’m tellin’ you, Steve, you missed out on one hell of a show!” Sam twisted the cap off his beer and smirked as he took a long sip. “I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but watchin’ these two trying their damndest to keep their cool was way more entertaining than watchin’ Nick Fury sing.”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes at her best friend’s exaggeration, taking off her jewelry piece by piece and looking through the living room mirror that she was stood before at her highly-amused husband seated behind her. “Don’t listen to Birdbrain, sweetheart, he’s embellishing the truth yet again; as long as you ignore all the blatant historical inaccuracies, it’s a perfectly enjoyable musical.”
“That’s easy for you to say, doll, they didn’t have you doin’ a corny tap dance number to somehow symbolize the hell of war,” Bucky grumbled under his breath, still miffed by his out-of-character portrayal in the musical and Sam’s overly-enthusiastic reaction whenever ‘Sergeant Bucky Barnes’ had appeared onstage to sing or dance. “Trust me, buddy, you saved yourself a whole heap of annoyance and justifiable indignation by staying home.”
“Well, I figured that my brief brush with showbiz back in ’43 was plenty enough for one lifetime,” Steve replied with a grin, patting his best friend’s shoulder as he got up from the couch and crossed the living room to help (Y/N) undo the clasp of her necklace. “Even one as long as mine. But hey, I had a stack of unfinished sketches and my little angel to keep me company here at home, and I didn’t have to watch the guy playing me sing a power ballad to a giant poster of Uncle Sam.”
When the necklace’s chain loosened, (Y/N) turned around and pressed her lips against her husband’s in a brief but sweet kiss of thanks. “I should count myself lucky; the rest of the world has to buy a ticket to a hit Broadway show to hear Steve Rogers belt out a power ballad, but all I have to do is listen in on him whenever he takes a shower.”
Sam and Bucky laughed at that and after a chuckling Steve retaliated by tickling the sensitive skin of her neck and stealing another kiss from her, (Y/N) headed upstairs to change out of her black cocktail dress and into her pajamas. She breathed a sigh of relief when she kicked off her black kitten heels and after peeling off her dress, she hung it over the back of her vanity’s chair and smoothed a hand over the satin slip that covered the slight swell of her four-month-pregnant belly. “Thanks for being so cooperative in there tonight, gumball. I had a really fun time with your Uncle Sam and your Uncle Bucky.”
Unfortunately, (Y/N)’s second pregnancy was almost the polar opposite of her first; where she hadn’t begun to show until her second trimester and she never once experienced morning sickness, she was already transitioning into maternity wear and she’d been plagued with intense nausea for over a month straight that was only just beginning to ease up. Their night on the town served as both an enjoyable evening with friends at a so-bad-it’s-good musical adaptation of her husband’s life, and a test to see how well she’d do during her latest book promotion tour in January.
It seemed as though she’d be able to physically handle all the interviews, press conferences and book signing, but she was still working on preparing herself mentally to discuss the chapter of her life that had brought her the greatest joys and largest despairs. While Assemble: The Unabridged History of the Avengers was the definitive chronicle of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, it wasn’t quite as unabridged as one would expect; the remaining Avengers had agreed on what details should be kept from the public – namely, their utilization of Pym Particles to achieve time travel, the entirety of the time heist and Clint’s five-year-long stint as the vengeful Ronin – so not only would she be tasked with discussing the deaths of her friends and allies, she’d also have to carefully work to keep those certain details a secret. Not an easy feat when you’re already experiencing pregnancy brain, she thought to herself with an inward sigh, slipping into her satin nightgown and tugging her robe on as she crept across the hall into Carina’s dimly-lit nursery.
Predictably, her fifteen-month old daughter was fast asleep in her crib, curled up under her colorful Wakandan-made blanket and clutching her stuffed white wolf; Indy, their senior German Shepard rescue, was nestled in his dog bed at the foot of the crib and when (Y/N) quietly entered, his head snapped up at attention but he immediately relaxed when she scratched behind his ears and the thick fur of his neck. Once their protective family dog was placated with scratches, she leaned over the crib and took a moment to observe her peaceful daughter; as energetic as the half super-soldier was throughout the day, she absolutely loved to sleep and hardly ever complained when they put her down for her two daily naps. Greg and Mara warned her that her daughter’s mild-mannered attitude could always fade away once she entered her ‘Terrible Two’s,’ but (Y/N) had a gut-feeling that Carina’s early adventures through space and all the battles against un-dead Asgardians and Thanos’ bloodthirsty army that she’d been present for gave her a resilience that most grown adults would never come to possess.
“Sweet dreams, my little lemon drop,” (Y/N) murmured, her fingers gently brushing her (Y/H/C) locks out of her face before she leaned down and pressed a feather-light kiss onto her forehead. “I love you.”
After tucking the blanket around her daughter’s sleeping form, (Y/N) gave her one last smile and turned away from her crib, unsurprised to see Steve leaning against the nursery’s door frame with a content smile playing on his lips. “Sam and Buck already turned in for the night, so I thought I’d check in and see how my three lovely ladies were doing.”
“Two, sweetheart; you know as well as I do that we haven’t found out the sex of the baby yet.” She quietly closed the nursery door and looked at her husband with playful suspicion as they strolled hand-in-hand into their bedroom. “Unless you called up Dr. Prince behind my back.”
“Nope, just some good old-fashioned fatherly intuition.” Steve chuckled, bending down to press a kiss onto her small bump before they went about getting ready for bed, with him changing into his pajamas while she removed her makeup and applied her nighttime skincare in their room’s adjoining bathroom. “The guys mentioned that Barton and his kids were there, too.”
(Y/N)’s fingers momentarily stopped massaging moisturizer into the skin of her face as she recalled the grief etched into the archer’s face when Natasha’s character first twirled onto the stage. “Yeah, they were kicking off their Barton Family Christmas with a little trip to the city to see the show. They left about halfway through; Clint texted me later saying that it was because the kids were a little restless and they wanted to go out for Chinese food before it got too late, but…but I think it had something to do with Nat.”
Steve sighed but remained silent; when (Y/N) finished her nighttime routine and walked back into the bedroom, he was already sitting on his side of the bed with a downcast expression on his face. “He still blames himself for what happened on Vormir.”
“I think so, but I also think he knows that nothing he could’ve done would’ve stopped Nat from making that call…” With a sad sort of smile, she slipped out of her robe and climbed into bed beside her husband, adjusting the comforter over their laps and meeting his saddened azure eyes. “Most of all, I think he just misses her.” And I know exactly how he feels, she thought to herself as her throat burned and she tried her hardest not to imagine the faces of those she still grieved over.
Not a day went by when (Y/N) didn’t think about all the friends they’d lost over the past several years: Tony, Natasha, Vision, Loki and most recently, T’Challa; just as suddenly as they’d lost their four friends and teammates in the battle against Thanos, the King of Wakanda had passed away after a private battle with illness over two months ago. It seemed that with each blessing that appeared in their life, there was an equally devastating blow waiting just around the corner for them and as each one was dealt, (Y/N) started to truly comprehend the all-consuming grief that had followed Clint like a shadow since Thanos’ Snap in 2018.
Being with Steve and Carina and knowing that there was a new baby on the way certainly helped, as did sharing memories of those they’d lost with her husband and their two best friends and focusing her attention on her upcoming book tour. Steve, understanding all too well the emotions that were brewing within her, brought a hand up to cradle her cheek and drew his thumb across her cheekbone as his eyes softened with empathy. “When Cari dumped her entire bowl of spaghetti onto her head the other night and we had to give her an emergency bath, one of the first things that went through my mind was that Nat would get a kick out of hearing that story. It took me a second to remember that she…” Steve’s voice cracked and he swallowed thickly before continuing. “I’ve fought gods and monsters, I’ve traveled through space and time and I’ve lived long enough to believe that in this universe, anything is possible. She knows, sunshine…they all do.”
With tears in her eyes, (Y/N) let out a watery laugh and accepted the tissue that he offered her. “You sure you’re not the New York Times best-selling author in this family?”
“Nah, it’s just easier to land an emotional speech when your wife’s hormones are constantly being thrown for a loop by a four month old fetus,” Steve replied with a lopsided grin while she shook her head in playful exasperation and dabbed at her tear-filled eyes. “We should probably get some sleep; Sam and Buck have an early flight to New Orleans tomorrow, and we’ve still gotta take Cari to the mall for her picture with Santa.”
(Y/N), recalling her best friend Greg and his wife Mara’s many horror stories of taking their little Abbie to see Santa, bit her lip and replied, “Our daughter spent the first month of her life surrounded by Sakaarians, un-dead Asgardians and Chitauri soldiers, so I’m sure that a picture with a complete stranger dressed as Santa Claus’ll be a piece of cake.”
“Of course…” The longer her husband thought it over, though, the more hesitant he appeared. “But maybe we should pack her stuffed wolf just in case-?”
“Oh, absolutely.”
Ever the true gentleman, Steve discarded her tissue for her and switched off their bedside lamp before burrowing under the bedcovers beside her, leaning over to brush his lips against her brow while she slipped her arm over his torso. “I also have to text Scott; when we were finishing up my interview for his book last week, he made me promise to give him a review of the musical. I think he wants to take Hope and Cassie when the touring company comes to San Francisco in the spring.”
Steve chuckled and carefully wound his arm around her to hold her closer. “He’ll be happy to know that they decided to add him to the Battle of New York. Speaking as one of the six people who was there, though, I’m not too sure what the presence of Ant-Man’s meant to add to one of Earth’s first alien invasions.”
“That’s the beauty of historical fiction: you can play fast and loose with dates, times and events for the sake of dramatic purposes while still portraying a person’s real-life story. In this case, adding one of the most popular Avengers to one of the most famous Avengers battles doesn’t change the fact that you – the main character – really were there.” (Y/N)’s eyes drifted closed and she could feel her body relaxing against Steve’s as sleep began to take hold. “With that being said, I just know he’s never ever gonna stop talking about it…”
Their tired laughs were suddenly interrupted by a sharp rap on their closed bedroom door and before either of them could say anything, the door opened and the light flickered on to reveal Sam and Bucky entering their room with matching frowns on their faces. “Sorry for barging in, guys, but you’re gonna wanna see this.” While Sam crossed over to retrieve the television remote from (Y/N)’s nightstand, she and Steve exchanged a look of confusion as they sat up and Bucky sat himself down on the edge of their bed as Sam switched their television on to NY1.
“…following a breaking news story, a high society gala rocked by an explosion when it went off at Park Avenue and 68th Street tonight. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but witnesses captured cell phone footage of a masked assailant fleeing the scene.” The news anchor’s face was replaced with an unsteady video of a bustling 68th Street; a masked figure dressed from head to toe in black vaulted over a speeding car and scooped a matted Golden Retriever up into their arms, both sliding out of the busy traffic just in the nick of time. The amateur footage paused on a close-up of the masked figure, and (Y/N)’s heart leapt into her throat when she recognized the imposing black and gold leather suit. “Authorities believe the assailant could be-”
“The Ronin,” (Y/N) breathed, and the implications of the infamous suit’s reappearance were not lost on her or the other three men in the room.
“-Who once terrorized organized crime here in New York and around the world for five brutal years. This is the first potential sighting of the Ronin in years, and his identity continues to remain a mystery to this day. We will continue to follow this breaking news story and report on any developments as they come in-”
Sam muted the television and turned to face them with a troubled expression written across his face. “That sure as hell wasn’t Barton in that video.”
“Which means one of two possibilities: either somebody with a sick sense of humor’s running around New York in a handmade Ronin suit and playing out their little fantasy of being a vigilante…” The fingers of Bucky’s vibranium hand traced along the raised lettering of his old dog tags as his brows furrowed, his earlier pleasant mood long gone and replaced with a dark trepidation. “Or someone found the real suit in the wreckage of the Avengers Facility.”
His features drawn with a solemnity reminiscent of his days as Captain America, Steve carded his hand through his rumpled blonde hair and stared at the muted footage of the imposter. “Either way, Barton and his kids are in danger; if they manage to find out the Ronin’s true identity, then every single member of the city’s criminal underworld is gonna go after him for revenge.”
(Y/N) let out a weary sigh and reached for her cell phone that was charging on her nightstand. “So much for that Barton Family Christmas…”

I've been having a bit of writer's block lately, everything I write I don't like and delete almost right away, so I'm here to ask anyone who wants to, to give me ideas, requests, suggestions, concepts, whatever. Even if you have a fic you'd like to see written out, I'm willing to do even personalised fics with your name and details you want, really just anything to get me writing something I won't hate!
I mostly do Bucky, but it can be any other Avenger or even non-marvel related character, as long as I know the character so I can give you the best story possible.
It can be any kind of trope, au and pairing, I'm open to anything except incest. I've never done smut, but with the right idea I could try it out.
Feel free to message me or use the ask button anytime you want!

"You don't know how much it means to me that you're doing this."
For a moment, T'Challa didn't reply, though his fingers flexed on the controls of the Quinjet for a split second. Then, "It is nothing."
"But it is. What you're offering - what you're asking to do-" Steve's words caught in his throat, and he looked down at his fidgeting hands in his lap, blood caked under his filthy nails. His entire body throbbed with bruises, but still he only had one thing on his mind.
"I almost caused more hurt to someone who has already been through so much pain. The least I can offer as an apology is a place of refuge and safety, where we have resources that may help your friend's...unique situation," T'Challa explained, turning to Steve with a gentle, sympathetic smile. "If I cannot at least try...I have failed him just as so many others have."
Steve was surprised when his eyes stung suddenly with tears. He snapped his head forward, staring at the vast expanse of blue sky and lush forest, the sun just starting to lower to the horizon on his left, as he tried to frantically blink them back.
It had been a long, tiring, emotional, exhausting few days.
"Ever since I found out Bucky was still alive, all I've ever wanted to do was keep him safe. To repay all the times he did the same for me when we were growing up. Now that I can, now that he doesn't have to fuss over me anymore. And after Hydra..."
He let his thoughts trail off. Steve didn't know why he was telling T'Challa this; he barely knew the man. But since he was taking a huge personal and political risk for them, he figured he owed him some honesty.
T'Challa's nostrils flared almost imperceptibly, and Steve saw a brief flash of anger on his otherwise calm and composed face. "I have read a little about what that organization of monsters masquerading as human beings did to your friend. I can assure you, in my country, they will never touch him again."
"That's all I want," Steve said. "That's all I ever wanted to do. It's the only thing I have to do."
Steve turned to the front again, watching the sky as it slowly turned from blue to orange and red, azure bleeding out into tangerines and crimsons. It was the kind of sight he'd have loved to draw, if he were in a different situation, pencil and oil pastels capturing the way the colours changed as the sun sank lower and lower in the sky.
"We'll cross the border before nightfall," T'Challa informed him, disturbing Steve from his thoughts. "Perhaps you should wake Sergeant Barnes. He may wish to enjoy the view as we reach the entrance to Wakanda. It really is quite extraordinary, as biased as I am in favour of my home country." The king smiled, and Steve found himself smiling back.
As Steve nodded and rose, heading towards the back of the Quinjet to the medical bay, where Bucky remained fast asleep on a hospital-style cot, a thick-knit blanket pulled over him that was decorated with a riotously colourful pattern of lines and shapes, the enormity of the situation dawned on him all at once.
What he'd told T'Challa was true. He'd do anything, go anywhere, to keep Bucky safe.
But the road they were going down was a dangerous one; blinded by his emotions, tired and desperate, it was however the only road he could see in front of him.
Because that's what you did when you loved somebody like he loved Bucky.
You'd do anything you could to save them.

T’Challa’s Birthday (T’Challa x Barnes!Reader)
Okay! Two posts in two days! I am warning y’all now that over the next couple days I am not going to be active at all. I’m going away with my family and will not be able to check tumblr until I get back. But, to make up for it, I have my T’Challa’s birthday post, finally. According to Google, T’Challa’s birthday is May 21st, so once again, I’m a bit late.
Warnings: Barnes!Reader is Bucky’s sister, mentions of CA:CW, it’s Nomad!Steve but not mentioned, T’Challa x Reader, Shuri probably needs a warning too.
Word Count: 2051
Summary: While waiting for Bucky to finish cryo, T’Challa was never as nice to you as he was to Steve. Now that Bucky’s awake, will things change?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You had no idea what was happening. At all. You weren’t even from Wakanda. You were just supposed to be checking on Bucky, since he was in cryo-freeze to be deprogrammed from the Winter Soldier. And don’t get me wrong, Bucky was attractive and women had always been all over him. But you were always the reason they left quickly, since you were Bucky’s priority, his big sister. You could hold your own in a fight, a point that you would make to both Steve and Bucky many times over the years, all of them. When you found out your baby brother had been drafted, you immediately enlisted as a nurse. You quickly became the personal nurse for the Howling Commandos, getting into trouble with all of them as you had growing up with your brother and his best friend. Whom you had gone down on the plane with after your brother had fallen off the train.
And now, 70 some-odd years later, you are flying into a hidden country that is globally known as very poor, but is actually thriving and has the most advanced technology you’ve ever seen. And oh God, the king? Oh, the king. King T’Challa was literally the nicest person ever, after he discovered Bucky didn’t actually kill his father. Yeah, you definitely went with Steve during the Civil War, much to Tony’s dismay. But T’Challa, he was just so… you couldn’t even find the words for it, but Steve was always the poet anyway.
T’Challa had never treated you badly, but he was not as warm to you as he was to Steve, or even Bucky, and yet you had completely fallen for him. To the point where you actually dreaded coming to Wakanda to check on Bucky because you always made a fool of yourself. Every. Single. Time.
“Ms. Barnes, Captain Rogers, you are back.” T’Challa said suddenly, surprising you. “I assume you’re here for Sergeant Barnes?”
“Your Highness. I am, yes. I’m just wondering how Bucky’s doing.” You said, reiterating what he said. You closed your eyes and shook your head softly.
Steve placed his hand on your back. “It’s okay, N/N. Could we see him?”
“Of course you can. Shuri has almost finished deprogramming Sergeant Barnes, and we should be pulling him out of the ice tomorrow, if all goes well. You’re welcome to stay and be here.” T’Challa started leading you to the room Bucky was being kept in cryo in. Although you all knew he didn’t need to due to the amount of times you and Steve had visited Bucky, both separately and together.
“Stevie? Sissy?” Bucky said, sitting up in a hospital bed. T’Challa raised an eyebrow in Shuri’s direction at this new development, she only shrugged. “You guys are okay?”
“Buck.” Steve breathed out, fighting the urge to go and wrap him in the world’s biggest bear hug. You were not having the same issue, running over to Bucky and doing exactly what Steve wanted to.
“Kiddo. Buddy. Buck, you can’t ever do anything like that again, okay? We were all supposed to go home together, buddy, and all of a sudden you weren’t coming home, and then Steve and I weren’t going home either. But now we can go home. Please, Bucky, say you’ll never go again?” You were crying at this point, having missed your baby brother so much yet not having found the words to say it before, since Steve had the exact same feeling.
Bucky pulled you into his chest, kissing the top of your head. “I’m not going anywhere, dumbass. Gotta protect you and Stevie. Lord knows Steve can’t protect my big sister right. Speaking of, get your ass over here, punk. What are you waiting for?”
Steve came over to the two of you and also wrapped Bucky in a hug, kissing the top of his head. “I missed you, Buck.”
“I know you did. I missed you both too.”
“Given a few months of recovery, most of your memories should return, Sergeant.” Shuri interrupted the moment the three of you were having, but none of you minded. “The brain is a funny thing, so I cannot be sure when or if it will happen, I just have to hope that it will.”
T’Challa was standing there silently, shell-shocked. Bucky was your brother?! Your baby brother?! “I’m sorry, wait, you two are related?” He asked.
You looked at Bucky, and then you both burst out laughing. “Yes!” He said.
“I was there when you were born, I think I was either second or third to hold you, but I don’t quite remember that far back. I was young, two or three, and Daddy was off at war still.” You said, stroking Bucky’s cheek with your thumb. He nuzzled into your hand as he always did. “I remember sitting with Momma, in her hospital bed, and with her arms wrapped around my arms wrapped around you. I’m sure I wasn’t actually holding you, but that’s my first clear memory. There are little snippets from before and after, and the memory has faded over time, but I remember the first time I got to hold you. And now you’re bigger than I am.” You smiled, tears slipped down your cheeks at that memory resurfacing. It had been so long since you had had time to remember your childhood without your sisters.
“Oh, N/N.” Steve said, rubbing your back.
Bucky pulled you back into his chest. “You’d never told me that before. I didn’t know you were there.”
You heard Shuri laugh at something T’Challa had said in their whispered argument. “Would either of you care to tell us what’s so funny about our touching reunion?” You said, muffled by Bucky’s red Henley.
Shuri, still giggling, explained. “Your last name is Barnes, so my darling brother thought you were married to the Sergeant.”
“That’s a new one.” Steve said, chuckling softly.
“I know we look nothing alike, but that is new.” You added.
Bucky was full-on giggling, which was nice to see after the events of the Civil War. “We’ve never been mistaken for being married before.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After T’Challa found out you weren’t married to Bucky, and you only shared a last name because you were his sister, he was much nicer to you. In fact, you could almost say he treated you like he was going to make you his queen. You and Steve had decided to stay in Wakanda for a few weeks to help Bucky with his memory, the new metal arm Shuri made for him, and it gave you both a break from being on the run.
Unfortunately, the entire time you had been in Wakanda, all anyone could talk about was the big birthday party they were throwing for the King. It was no surprise to him, of course, you were sure he was part of the planning committee. But it just bugged you, spending weeks talking about a fancy party that half of them weren’t even going to go to due to family issues, political reasons, or fighting with the other tribes. Bucky was going, of course, to repay T’Challa and Shuri for their kindness. So Steve was going to keep him out of trouble, and you were going to keep Steve out of trouble.
‘I had him on the ropes.’ Sure you did, Stevie. Sure you did. Steve Rogers, never one to start a fight he could actually finish. Although Steve was always picked on, he made sure he treated everyone well. He never let anyone mistreat a woman, and there were multiple times he stood up for you, even though you were closer to the guys’ height than he was.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You glanced at T’Challa from across the room, sipping at your drink of choice. Happy birthday to him, you thought, bitterly. He gets fancy drinks, and women in nice dresses flaunting themselves, no, throwing themselves at him. They probably don’t even want to be with him, they just want the money and title. He deserves so much better. You sighed softly, making both Bucky and Steve look at you.
“Something wrong, doll?” Steve asked.
“No, no. I’m fine. I’m just a little tired.” You replied, faking a yawn to accentuate your point.
“You sure about that?” Bucky asked, wiggling his eyebrows and sticking out his tongue a little. “If looks could kill, N/N, the women swarming T’Challa would be dead.”
You rolled your eyes. “No idea what you’re talking about, brother dearest.”
He smirked. “That’s what you told me when you were in 11th grade and ‘didn’t like Tommy’. Busted.” He told you, properly using air quotes. He was catching on much quicker than you and Steve had.
“Just don’t say anything. I’m sure it’ll go away in a couple of months. It’s nothing.”
“It’s not nothing if you’re asking them not to say anything about it.” Shuri said, sitting down next to you. “Now spill the tea.” The three of you blinked in confusion. “Tell me the drama, what’s going on?” She clarified. Wow, the new generation really does have a term for everything. You looked between your brother and best friend, silently begging them not to say anything, much like when the three of you were in trouble as teenagers.
Steve, ever the snitch, broke first. “N/N likes T’Challa!” You were just happy the music didn’t stop, although suddenly if a pin dropped, anyone would hear it. The air felt thick and you felt like you were suffocating. You stood up, left the party, and walked back towards Bucky’s quarters, deciding the fresh air on the balcony near there would do you some good.
Once you got to the balcony, you sat down, put your feet up, took your heels off, and looked up at the stars. You had sat there for what felt like forever, entranced by the stars when you heard the door open behind you. “Stevie, have you ever kept a secret for longer than a minute?” You asked, assuming he was the one that followed you, probably to apologize, knowing Steve.
“Sorry to disappoint, Miss Barnes, but I am not Captain Rogers.” T’Challa said from behind you.
“Oh, Your Majesty.” You said, standing. “I’m so sor-”
T’Challa put his hand up to stop you. “Please don’t apologize, Miss Barnes. Your feelings are requited. That is why I was not as warm to you as I was to the Captain and the Sergeant. The most gorgeous lady I have ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on. Married to Sergeant Barnes? Impossible. I was overjoyed when I discovered the two of you were merely siblings.”
“Bucky’s a good-looking dude, Your Highness. It’s not that hard to believe, other than the fact that he’s been in love with Steve since he was.. 13. Those two are idiots in love, especially since Steve’s been in love with Bucky from the first time they met.”
“How did you manage to miss the entire point I was trying to make?” He asked, chuckling and shaking his head. You sat back down, looking up at the stars.
“It just doesn’t seem real. A king falling for an army nurse out of her time?” You said, tracing the constellations Bucky had told you about as a teenager with your index finger.
T’Challa recognized it, “Ursa Major?”
You nodded. “I had the unfortunate pleasure of babysitting Bucky while doing my homework. He was obsessed with the stars, I had to take him to the library every week to get a new book about them. He learned about all the constellations, I would help him find the ones we could. I don’t know if more have been found, or if he even remembers, but I do. The stars helped me find him.”
“That’s lovely.” He said, sitting next to you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hours later, T’Challa had finally asked if he could kiss you. You allowed it.
“May I take you to bed, my queen?”
“Of course, my king.”
He treated you like a queen that night, and you became his queen almost 2 years later, with Bucky walking you down the aisle. Steve waiting next to T’Challa, and Shuri waiting on your side. After T’Challa’s birthday, you were treated like a queen for the rest of your life.

Summary: The time the world went quiet only started a new chaos.

Warnings: Angst
Words 2160
With the world we are born into, it is chosen how we might see it. Things that happen in our lives, the things that are told to us give us a piece that we can use to make sense of what is going on around us. Make our own assumptions about the tragedies that go on in the world that we may or may not have control over. It is unpredictable.
It was exactly that that your father loved about it.
He was a strange man your father, Steve Rogers. He wasn’t closed off per se, but he didn’t let on what he did in his spare time when he was away from you and your mother. But whenever he was around, sharing a drink with you, he would speak wisely. Teach you without directly teaching you. It was strange the relationship you had with him. How he would hint at something deeper- an underlying reasoning for the conversations he might start up. At the time, you were merely a child and didn’t understand. As time went on though, you pieced it all together.
The only confirmation of your father’s true job was when you woke up in the middle of the night in March. Wind howling and pellets of rain beating against your window, obscuring the scene you watched from your window. You had seen the lights of two vehicles pull up outside of the barn not too far from the mansion your father had owned before you were even born. But you saw your father pull a man out from the back of a car, bag over his head before being kicked and shoved towards the barn doors.
It felt like ages before you had seen the muzzle flash of a gun go off from the cracks of the wooden structure. That had been the night where you realized your father wasn’t the man you thought him to be. But you didn’t hold it against him or see him any differently. He was family and you could only make assumptions and give false reasonings for what you had seen that night. Deep down, you did know what happened but were too afraid to admit to yourself that your dad was a cold-blooded murderer.
And for a time, you tried to ignore it, continue to make up false justifications for a man you were slowly finding unrecognizable. When the time came that you did confront him, he didn’t move or say a word. He just stared at you, calculating every movement you made, and every emotion that swam in your eyes. Then, and only then, he divulged the secrets he’d kept from you. Telling you of how he came into money, how he and your mother hadn’t been the angelic humans you thought them to be, and that no matter what you did, you would be just like them. Whether you liked it or not.
You don’t know what it was. Perhaps it was him finally telling you, seizing the growing insanity you felt from witnessing what you did that night. Or it might’ve been that it had finally come to be the time you were welcomed into the family business. Whatever it was, you had accepted it with grace. A rather unpredictable feeling you never expected to feel after discovering your parents were murderers- mobsters for an underground empire that had been controlling judges, businesses, and even governmental officials.
But the one thing he did tell you was, “If I was ever killed, it wasn’t under natural circumstances. Nobody dies normally in this business.”
And here he was, lying in his casket with a bundle of roses in his clasped hands. Truthfully, you never thought the day would come when you would have to witness a sight. Being in the business, you thought that you would be the one to go. Be used as some sort of leverage against your father and killed the moment the person got what they wanted. You didn’t think you would have to listen to your mother sob in your arms, begging aloud for someone to bring him back.
Yet, here you were.
No tears were shed from you though. There was no use in crying when it wouldn’t bring the person you had begun to admire, back. How could you when you know your dad would berate you for doing so? Because, in some weird way, you could see your day possibly enjoying the way he went. It was unpredictable. But now thinking about it, the one thing he loved about this world was exactly what killed him. God, how the world loved to twist and just fuck with your head, huh?
Nonetheless, you did place a hand on his cheek, jaw clenched as you stared at the wound in the center of his forehead. The coroner had stitched it up to the best of their ability so it wouldn’t be a closed casket. Giving you one final chance to get a good look at his face before he would be gone, officially, forever.
Swallow the cement in your throat, you exhaled deeply. “Goodbye, Dad.” Your nails brushed through his grizzly beard, brushing over his suit before you turned and walked back to your seat.
The church had rows of people- some you recognized from your childhood and your dad’s business, and others you had yet to know. But at the moment, none of them exactly mattered as you sat down with your mother. Glancing to your right, finding your Uncle Bucky with pursed lips, eyes brimming with tears. Placing a hand on his forearm, you looked away before he could catch your eyes. Deciding this be your one final act of kindness in these tragic times.
When you’d gotten the news, it felt like the world went quiet. London had gone silent from the loss of a man they could only see as a good man from his charities and other good deeds. Steve had been a good man, despite his wrongdoings, he did try and do some good for the unfortunate. So, as much as you and many others were feeling his loss, London felt it just as much. Bucky, being his right-hand man, must’ve been feeling this worse than them all. Even your mother, Peggy.
Throughout the service, the priest blabbered on and on whilst you sat, staring intently at your father’s corpse. And even when you stood in that rain, watching his body be lowered into his grave, you held no direct emotion for others to see. But you did feel rage. One that could only compare to the outbursts your father had when something didn’t go his way. You could feel it in the way your hands trembled, fingers twitching as you felt the need to do something- Anything to release that rage on someone or something.
But with a deep inhale, you turned away from the grave and started making your way up to the car. Eyes spotting your mother and Bucky talking to a woman as others made their leave. The conversation with the trio seemed heated judging by the way your Uncle’s shoulder rose and fell with each breath he took. As well as the way the woman spat back comments to the man as Peggy tried to cool the argument building in tension.
Despite all of that, you stared intently at the mysterious woman. Her long red hair was damp from the rain and lack of an umbrella. She hadn’t been there throughout the service and even the burial. You would have noticed someone as beautiful as her. Her green eyes seemed darker than you would’ve expected. Either from anger or some form of sorrow, she must’ve felt. Why show up at a funeral if you didn’t know the person being buried six feet in the ground?
Removing your gaze, you continued a slow pace to the car. Hands in your black trench coat as an attempt to hide the emotions you were holding on a leash. But before you could even get inside the black Sedan, someone called out for you. “Y/n!” Turning, you found T’Challa jogging over, and for the first time today, you smiled.
Since you came into the business, T’Challa and you hit off instantly. Perhaps it was the fact that you two were around the same age or that you two related in the fact that both your parents were the head of powerful families in London. But you two seemed to clique and could go out on a night, shoot the shits, and not regret a thing the next day. Every day you spent with the man seemed like a brand new adventure.
“T’Challa.” You smiled, opening your arms as the man engulfed you in a hug.
“I’m sorry about your loss,” he whispered. “I can’t imagine how you are feeling.”
You sighed, softly pulling away and scratching your right brow with a soft chuckle. “Yeah, um, I don’t know what to feel, honestly.” Rage. “It's taking me a bit to get a grasp on it, but I think I should manage.”
“If there’s anything you need, you let me know, alright?” T’Challa, being the comforting man you knew him to be, showed a face of worry. One that he always seemed to display anytime you didn’t seem to have that bright smile on your face. But more than ever, he felt the need to be there for you. Something you appreciated when you didn’t have many friends nowadays.
Before assurance can be given to the man, his father, T’Chaka comes over. “Y/n, I am sorry for your lost, my dear.”
You smile and nod in thanks. “Thank you, King T’Chaka. I-”
“Your father was a good man, Y/n.” Your brows knitted together, upper lip twitching as you stared at the man. “Always the mastermind behind our schemes he and I did. Who will be taking his position now?”
The question came out of left field, one that T’Challa didn’t even seem prepared for. And if you weren’t wrong or misreading your friend, he seemed just as frustrated and furious as you. Shifting the weight of your feet, you squinted your eyes at the older man. “Why would that matter?”
T’Chaka sighed, glancing at his son before motioning for you to follow. Glancing at T’Challa, he seemed just as confused as you. Nonetheless, you followed the older man towards the grave of your father. Stopping just at the edge as T’Chaka stared down into the grave.
“Someone chose to kill, Steven Rogers,” T’Chaka began. “And today, we mourn the loss of a good man.” Turning to you, T’Chaka sighed. “But tomorrow will be business as usual. Someone will have to take his place, Y/n. Either you or Peggy.”
His words strung a deep chord within you. He was saying all of this in front of your father's grave? Speaking of loss, yet, still having time to discuss business in front of a dead man? Something about it didn’t sit right with you. Albeit, your emotions and anxiety had been at an all-time high since you had gotten the news. But this, this fucked with you a little too much. It dug too deep into your current unfulfilled rage that left you on the verge of bursting from your seams.
“Hmm.” You hummed, nodding to yourself as you glanced down at the casket. A rosewood stain covers the exterior with gold handles along the sides. A luxurious coffin made for only a true king. Looking up at T’Chaka, you shook your head. “No. It all stops. Every shipment, every pound of coke, heroin- all of it stops. Until I find the person responsible for killing my father.”
Stepping towards the man, you glared at him. “And if that is a problem, then move the fuck over! If you have a question about leadership, I suggest keeping your mouth fucking shut!” Smiling faintly, you leaned in towards the man’s ear. “If you think me taking my father’s place would keep things the same, you are sadly mistaken, King.”
Pulling away, you stared at the older man’s hardened features. Patting him lightly on the shoulder before moving back to your vehicle. Nodding to T’Challa, who returned it as you passed him and got into the Sedan where your mother was sat quietly. And the moment you were seated, the vehicle started moving.
But you could sense the tension, an undeniable set of emotions that swirled through the interior of the vehicle. The source came from your mother who wiped her cheeks, hoping to hide the newly developed tears that had appeared.
So, you grabbed her hand and squeezed it softly. Peggy let out a shaky breath, eyes staring blankly ahead of her as she shook her head. “There was a time no one dared to touch this family.”
Gripping her hand tightly, you clenched your jaw. “I’ll make things right, Mum.”
And that was a promise.

Chapter Ten One Week Later… (Previous Chapter)
The funeral was held on a beautiful autumn afternoon, on the banks of the lake bordering the Stark family’s eco-compound. There were only thirty-eight people in attendance, as per Pepper’s insistence; she only trusted the small number of people who knew Tony best to be around Morgan, who was understandably distraught and confused by the sudden loss of her father. Following the instructions given to her by Natasha, (Y/N) reached out to her best friend’s adoptive family and informed them of her death, but Alexei and Melina informed her that they wouldn’t come without Yelena, who was inconsolable with grief and unable to face her sister’s funeral. All across the world, people were celebrating the return of their loved ones and mourning the loss of Iron Man and Black Widow but there on the secluded eco-compound, friends, teammates and allies came together to mourn Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff.
While the other funeral attendees stood outside in the crisp October sunshine and distracted themselves with stilted small talk, a small gathering was taking place inside the farmhouse. Thor was leaning a shoulder against one of the living room support columns, Bruce was hunched over near the kitchen to avoid hitting his head on the low ceiling and (Y/N) stood between Steve and Clint while Pepper, Morgan, Happy and Rhodes were seated around the coffee table, upon which an Iron Man helmet sat and projected a recorded hologram of its inventor; before the time heist, Tony had seemingly taken the same precaution that Natasha had and recorded a final message to his family and close friends, and Pepper wanted to wait and watch it until they were all gathered together.
(Y/N)’s eyes welled with tears as Tony’s message began to play. She still couldn’t quite believe that she’d never hear her friend call her ‘Austen’ again, the silly but inexplicably heartwarming nickname he’d bestowed upon her the moment they first met, or have a chance to fully reconnect with him in the wake of Siberia and Thanos’ Snap. With that being said, the brief time she’d known the billionaire was time that she’d treasure and never forget, and she was truly honored to have known the man behind the hero.
“Everybody wants a happy ending, right? But it doesn’t always roll that way…maybe this time. I’m hoping if you play this back, it’s in celebration. I hope families are reunited-” (Y/N)’s eyes briefly flicked over to Carina, napping peacefully near the window in her floating pram. “-I hope we get it back, and something of a normal version of the planet is restored. If there ever was such a thing…” The hologram of Tony shook his head in amazement and smiled. “God, what a world. Universe, now. If you told me ten years ago that we weren’t alone, let alone, you know, to this extent? I mean, I wouldn’t have been surprised, but come on, you know? The epic forces of darkness and light that have come to play…and, for better or worse, that’s the reality Morgan’s gonna have to find a way to grow up in. So, I thought I’d probably better record a little greeting in the case of an untimely death – on my part – I mean, not that death at any time isn’t untimely. This time travel thing that we’re gonna try and pull off tomorrow, it’s got me scratching my head about the survivability of it all. That’s the thing. Then again, that’s the hero gig; part of the journey is the end.” He scoffed at himself before standing from his chair and moving towards the camera. “What am I even trippin’ for? Everything’s gonna work out exactly the way it’s supposed to.” The hologram of Tony leaned down to stop the recording, his sudden smile seemingly aimed at his red-eyed daughter cuddled up to his wife’s side. “I love you 3,000.”
The message suddenly ended and the hologram faded away into nothing as the farmhouse full of mourners took a moment to wipe their tears away and compose themselves. (Y/N) took a steadying breath before turning towards Steve and adjusting the crooked knot of his black tie for him, murmuring under her breath so that only he could hear her words. “Are you okay, Steve?”
Her husband nodded but remained silent, wiping away some of the tears that managed to escape his eyes while she gently smoothed out the nonexistent wrinkles of his suit’s lapels. (Y/N) witnessed Steve mourn far too many losses over the years, but the loss of Tony and Natasha seemed to affect him on an entirely different level; she wondered if it was because they were among the first people he’d befriended after coming out of the ice into an unrecognizable world, or if it was because he somehow found a way to blame himself for their loss, but it was clear to her that he wasn’t ready to talk about it yet. Distractions helped – the super-soldier was more than busy organizing the secure clean-up of the Avengers Facility wreckage and spending his spare time finally bonding with their infant daughter – but Tony and Natasha’s losses remained constant on his mind. Hopefully today will bring him a sense of closure, (Y/N) thought as she slipped her hand into his and gave it a comforting squeeze, will bring us all a sense of closure.
“Pepper’s ready to begin.” She turned to see Clint, who was holding the wreath they’d worked on together in Natasha’s memory; it was an arrangement made from the wildflowers that grew in the field behind the Barton’s barn, and at its center were the spy’s crossed batons they’d retrieved from the battlefield. The archer’s eyes were rimmed in red but he mustered up a small smile for them both as he offered her the wreath. “I know I said I’d lay it with you, (Y/L/N), but I…I-I just…”
(Y/N) nodded in understanding and accepted the wreath with her free hand. “It’s okay, Clint. I’ll do it for the both of us.” He swallowed thickly, giving her a chaste kiss on the forehead and exiting the farmhouse to stand with his family outside. As Rhodes and Happy followed Pepper and Morgan out onto the wraparound porch, (Y/N) brought hers and Steve’s joined hands up and gave his knuckles a reassuring kiss before following after them.
Walking down the porch steps and along the path that led to the dock, (Y/N) took the opportunity to study the impressive gathering of heroes around her. Clint and Laura Barton’s arms were wrapped around Cooper and Lila’s shoulders, and Laura’s fingers soothingly carded through little Nathaniel’s shaggy brown hair; Peter Parker’s eyes were red with grief and he was trying in vain not to cry as his Aunt May rested a consoling hand on his arm; Stephen Strange and Wong stood together, but the doctor’s gaze was diligently trained on his polished dress shoes and there was something almost akin to guilt written across his face; Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne stood alongside their daughter Hope and Scott, the former rival of Howard Stark putting aside their personal history to pay respect to his fallen son; the Guardians of the Galaxy looked slightly out of place amongst the other attendees, but they – particularly Rocket and Nebula – appeared genuinely sorrowful for the loss of Tony and Natasha; T’Challa, Shuri and Okoye watched their procession with saddened eyes, the three of them all too familiar with the pain of loss; Sam and Wanda stood beside Bucky, who only came after (Y/N) and Steve convinced him that he deserved to attend despite what the Winter Soldier had done to Tony’s parents; a teenage boy around Peter’s age hovered near the back of the gathering – according to Pepper, Tony had been his mentor from a young age and even provided him with a scholarship so he could attend MIT – and behind him stood Carol, the captain’s hands clasped together as she gave the procession a nod of respect; Secretary Ross, Maria Hill and Nick Fury stood the farthest away, with the Secretary of State avoiding the pointed glares that the other two were giving him.
The attendees gathered along the grassy shore of the lake and watched as (Y/N) and Steve followed Pepper and Morgan onto the dock. When they reached its end, the older woman crouched down beside her daughter and they both gently placed their wildflower wreath onto the calm water; the first iteration of Tony’s arc reactor was affixed to its center and the sun reflected off its metal, which was etched with the playful words ‘Proof That Tony Stark Has A Heart.’ With Steve’s assistance, (Y/N) lowered herself and – ignoring the twinges of pain caused by the pull on her many stitches – laid Natasha’s wreath onto the water beside Tony’s. The four of them stood at the end of the dock and watched the wreaths slowly drift away and as (Y/N)’s free hand fiddled with the black fabric of her dress, a random memory of Natasha forcing her to wear her Boyz II Men shirt to the U.N. instead of her mourning dress came to mind and she couldn’t help but smile fondly to herself. Her eyes remained trained on the two floating wreaths as she quietly hummed one of the R&B group’s more emotional ballads under her breath and thought about all those they’d lost in the years-long fight against Thanos.
“How do I say goodbye to what we had? The good times that made us laugh outweigh the bad…”
When they first met, Tony welcomed her into the Avengers Tower with open arms and from then on, he always treated her as a friend, even during the complicated events revolving around the Sokovia Accords. His laughter was infectious, his constant jokes and nicknames were accepted with loving exasperation, and his loyalty to his friends and family was something that (Y/N) always admired greatly about the self-proclaimed genius-billionaire-playboy-philanthropist.
“I thought we’d get to see forever, but forever’s gone away. It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday…”
Vision was a gentle soul and while the other Avengers found it difficult to converse with the thoughtful android, (Y/N) loved hearing his thoughts on history and literature. They bonded over their shared worry for Steve and Wanda whenever they’d embark on missions together, and Vision trusted her enough to begin asking her about how human emotions – specifically, the ones centering around romance – worked. He was brave in the face of overwhelming danger, his capacity for kindness was second to none, and (Y/N) hated that Wanda was suffering under the loss of such a wonderful person.
“I don’t know where this road is going to lead. All I know is where we’ve been and what we’ve been through…”
(Y/N)’s friendship with Loki was as unexpected as it was exceptional. Not only had they been forced to work together to survive on a hostile alien planet, but the God of Mischief helped her give birth to Carina and protected them both from harm, showing (Y/N) a softer side of him that few others had ever had the privilege of seeing. Beneath the dark façade he used to scare others away, he was truly heroic and for as long as she lived, she would never forget how he saved her daughter’s life and lost his own in a desperate but brave attempt to save the universe from a threat he knew all too well.
“And if we get to see tomorrow, I hope it’s worth all the wait. It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday…”
Although she’d never had the opportunity to meet Gamora, (Y/N) knew enough about the Daughter of Thanos from Rocket and Nebula’s stories to form an understanding of her. Gamora’s life before joining the Guardians of the Galaxy was filled with trauma and pain, but she proved that she possessed an empathetic heart when she abandoned her adoptive father and devoted her life to protecting the universe from him, a life that she’d come to lose in exchange for the Soul Stone. By a trick of fate, however, 2014 Gamora was with Thanos when he transported his army through their Quantum Tunnel and she was seen fleeing the battlefield shortly after helping them defeat Thanos for good; nothing could ever replace what Nebula and the other Guardians lost that day on Vormir, but (Y/N) hoped that finding that version of Gamora would help them cope.
“And I’ll take with me the memories, to be my sunshine after the rain. It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday…”
To (Y/N), losing Natasha was like losing a sister and she knew that for the rest of her life, she’d never stop missing the spy. But because Natasha wouldn’t want her to wallow in grief, she focused on all the happy memories they shared, from the first time they met in the National Mall and she smirked as (Y/N) teased Sam to the last smile they shared before embarking on the time heist. The night before the funeral, as she cuddled up to Steve and was soothed to sleep by his warm embrace, she decided that the best way she could honor Natasha – and everyone else who died in the fight against Thanos – was to put her skills as a writer to good use and write a book; people deserved to know the woman who sacrificed her life to save the world, and (Y/N) needed to ensure that her name would never be forgotten.
“And I’ll take with me the memories, to be my sunshine after the rain. It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday…”
As they watched the wreaths glide atop the lake’s steady water, (Y/N) closed her tear-filled eyes and sadly smiled.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The funeral was followed by a quiet outdoor reception and while the others chatted amongst themselves as they sampled hors d’oevres, (Y/N) sat on the porch and waited for her Tylenol pill to start kicking in; as a result of the Battle of Earth, she needed twelve stitches for the gash along her stomach, eight stitches to close the cut along her collar and two for the small wound on her right temple, and she was becoming increasingly annoyed by her slow-healing body and how weak her injuries made her feel. She kept her mind off her injuries by watching Steve interact with Morgan, Nathaniel and Lila; the super-soldier was feeding Carina her bottle and smiling as all three children fawned over the infant, and (Y/N) was pleased to see Morgan crack a tiny smile for the first time that day when their daughter’s tiny fingers wrapped around one of hers.
“Pepper sent me up here to give you this, and she said to make sure you ate all of it,” Maria remarked as she walked up the porch steps and offered her a paper plate of cheddar and broccoli mini-quiche. “I think there was some talk of ‘by any means necessary,’ but I can’t be too sure.”
(Y/N) chuckled. “I guess it’s a good thing I’m hungry.” Thanking the agent, she took the plate of food and placed it on her lap. “In a few minutes, you’ll be able to report back to your boss that your mission was an overwhelming success.”
“And here I thought that I was your only boss.” Both women turned to see Nick Fury approaching them, his hands in his pockets and a pensive expression on his face. “You mind giving us a minute, Hill?” Maria nodded and patted (Y/N)’s shoulder before heading off to join Clint and Wanda standing near the dock. Fury took a seat in the empty wicker chair beside hers and while she nibbled on a quiche, he looked out at the glassy lake and sighed. “I can see why Stark moved his family up here. It’s peaceful…but one thing I’ve learned about certain kinds of people is that no matter how peaceful their surroundings are, they’ll never find satisfaction in it so long as there’s someone out there in trouble. Those are the real heroes; the ones in the position to fight the battles that most could never dream of fighting, the ones who choose to become something more…” The corner of his lips curved into a smile as he glanced sideways at her. “The ones who help save the world in any way they can and who don’t need anyone’s permission to do it.”
(Y/N) couldn’t help but snort in amusement as she recognized her own words being spoken back to her; she’d said the exact same thing to Fury over eight years earlier, right before he allowed her to join the Theta Protocol and travel to Sokovia to save its citizens from Ultron’s attack. “You’ve got a long memory, I’ll give you that. This isn’t some sort of recruitment speech, is it? Because I have to say, this is kind of an inappropriate place for one…although, you did once try and recruit me in the middle of a cemetery, so this is sort of on-par for us.”
“I’m sorry to disappoint you, Mrs. (Y/L/N), but today’s my day off.” Fury’s chuckles died off and his expression shifted into a more somber emotion. “To tell you the truth, my days of recruiting heroes might already be behind me; I always thought that finding them is the hard part, but today’s shown me that losing them for good is even harder.” (Y/N) pursed her lips and nodded as the former director watched Steve cradle a giggling Carina in his arms. “No, I’m here to offer you and Rogers the same set-up I offered the Barton’s when they decided to get married and settle down.”
Her brows shot up in surprise. “You want to give us a farm so we could live off the grid?”
“Doesn’t have to be a farm and it doesn’t have to be off the grid, just someplace far away from prying eyes where you can raise your daughter together in peace.” Reaching into his pocket, Fury withdrew a business card and placed it on the arm of her chair and stood. “Take all the time you need to talk it over with Rogers, then give me a call with your answer. It was good to see you again, Mrs. (Y/L/N).”
Fury turned and started to walk away, but didn’t make it far until (Y/N) called out, “Did you know? When we first met in that hideout in D.C., did you know what was going to happen?”
He stopped and turned back around to face her, his eye twinkling with an unknown emotion as he smiled to himself. “Natasha asked me that same question once, so I’ll tell you what I told her: you never know, you hope for the best and make do with what you get. And that’s remained constant, for the most part, but in this specific instance? I may know a lot and see even more, but not even I could predict what an unpublished historical-fiction novelist would end up bringing to the table.”
With a final nod, the former director stepped off the porch and strode across the grassy bank towards Rhodes and Pepper, leaving (Y/N) alone with her thoughts. A quiet life with Steve and Carina sounded like a dream come true, but she couldn’t quite picture what that might entail for them; after all, she was an award-winning novelist and a college professor and he was still Captain America, the Star-Spangled-Man-With-A-Plan. A quiet life wouldn’t quite come as easy to them as it had Clint and Laura Barton. And that’s without considering what Steve might be picturing for our future as a family, she thought as she slowly finished her mini-quiche and stared off at the lake.
“I think someone might be missing you, sunshine.” (Y/N) tore her gaze away from the glistening water to see Steve settling himself onto the unoccupied wicker seat beside her; Carina was beginning to fuss in his arms and (Y/N)’s arms itched to hold her, but her stitches made it difficult and she didn’t want to risk accidentally dropping her. “See, angel? Your ma’s right here.”
(Y/N) adjusted her daughter’s blanket and gave her a smile as she began to calm down. “Aw, are you getting sleepy again, lemon drop?” Carina yawned, snuggling further into Steve’s arms while her parents shared a quiet chuckle. “Must be all the fresh air here. Back before we fought Hela and saved the Asgardians from Ragnarok, I promised Cari that the three of us would go someplace warm and sunny where she could see the sky. I started out feeling terrible that she’d spent the first month of her life trapped on a literal garbage planet, but then we were in space and on Asgard and then Thanos…well, you know the rest. All that matters now is that we’re finally together as a family again.”
Steve nodded in agreement and jutted his chin out towards the business card resting on the arm of her chair. “Is that Fury’s phone number?”
“He offered us a similar set-up to Clint and Laura’s.” (Y/N)’s fingertips thoughtfully caressed her daughter’s soft cheek as she continued. “He wants us to give him a call once we’ve decided where we want to go from here.”
The super-soldier was silent for several moments, and it wasn’t until Carina had fallen back asleep that he finally spoke. “Yeah, I’ve been giving that a lot of thought lately, since even before the time heist. But it wasn’t until Tony and I traveled to 1970 and I saw Peggy again that I finally knew what I wanted.” (Y/N) quickly looked up at him as he took a deep breath and reluctantly met her gaze. “(Y/N), there’s something I need to tell you…”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following week was filled with tearful goodbyes and promises to keep in touch. Thor was set to make a brief visit to New Asgard before departing Earth with the Guardians of the Galaxy; (Y/N) understood the Asgardian’s desire for change and wished him luck on his search to find himself, tearfully reminding her friend that if he needed anything at all, their door would always be open for him. Rocket and Nebula surprised her when they presented her with her own Volkswagen Bug, miraculously and inexplicably restored to its former glory; she suspected that the mechanical geniuses might’ve obtained some replacement parts through illegal means but she kept her thoughts to herself and accepted their thoughtful gift, giving the normally-reserved pair large hugs and standing alongside Steve as they watched the Benatar take to the skies.
Clint, Laura and their three children returned to their farm; the Barton’s were kind enough to offer Wanda a place to stay, but the younger woman politely declined their invitation and claimed that she had something to take care of. (Y/N), who suspected that Wanda would try to track down Vision’s body and demand its return from whichever federal agency claimed it after the Snap, hugged her tight and wished her luck. The loss of yet another person in Wanda’s life was obviously hitting her hard, and (Y/N) silently hoped that she would reach out to her old friends and teammates for help or support if she needed it. Rhodes was reinstated by Secretary Ross – albeit reluctantly – as an officer within the Air Force, while Happy continued his work as head of security for Stark Industries and Pepper returned as its CEO.
Scott traveled back to San Francisco with the Pym-Van Dyne family, eagerly looking forward to reconnecting with his daughter Cassie and catching up on the five years he’d lost while trapped in the Quantum Realm. Stephen Strange returned to the New York Sanctum Sanctorum and resumed his post as its protector while Wong, the new Sorcerer Supreme, moved into Kamar-Taj to continue training the young sorcerers who lived there. Peter Parker was re-enrolled in his old high school, with his aunt and friends there to support him as he tried to return to some semblance of normalcy. And T’Challa, Shuri and Okoye returned to Wakanda, with the Black Panther resuming his rule as the King of Wakanda and working out how his nation could provide relief to the millions of displaced and struggling people scattered across the world.
While construction crews worked to remove rubble and debris from the former site of the Avengers Facility, Bruce built a new Quantum Tunnel in the woods near the lake and the day after it was completed, the few remaining Avengers gathered for one final mission: to return the Infinity Stones back to their original timelines. But this time, it was a mission that Steve and Steve alone would be embarking on, and no amount of arguments from Sam and Bucky could convince him otherwise.
“Now, remember, you have to return the stones to the exact moment you got them,” Bruce explained, opening the locked case resting on his makeshift desk to reveal the stones resting in their own individual settings. “Or else you’re gonna open up a bunch of nasty alternative realities.”
Steve nodded and closed its lid before activating the locking mechanism. “Don’t worry, Bruce. Clip all the branches.”
The scientist watched him take the case before averting his saddened gaze. “You know, I tried. When I had the gauntlet, I really tried to bring her back.” (Y/N) and Sam exchanged a saddened look, and her hand slipped into her pocket to touch the red hourglass-shaped buckle she’d carried with her since Natasha’s death. “I miss her, man.”
“Me, too.” Steve gave Bruce’s uninjured forearm a comforting pat and fell into step between (Y/N) and Sam as they walked towards the illuminated Quantum Tunnel.
“You know, it’s not too late for me to come with you.” Sam offered the super-soldier a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Seriously, Steve, my wings are in the trunk. Just say the word and I’ll go put ‘em on.”
“You’re a good man, Sam,” Steve grinned but shook his head. “This one’s on me, though.”
While Bruce continued to make last-minute adjustments to his equipment, Steve approached Bucky, who was standing guard beside Carina’s floating pram and letting her hold onto the index finger of his vibranium hand. “Don’t do anything stupid ‘till I get back.”
“How can I? You’re takin’ all the stupid with you.” Both men shared matching smirks of amusement before hugging; Bucky’s eyes briefly met (Y/N)’s over Steve’s shoulder and she gave him a reassuring smile, understanding exactly why he was so worried for his old friend. She and Steve only told him of his plan the night before, after all, so it was a miracle that the super-soldier was handling the news as well as he was. They separated after a moment, and Bucky gave him a forced smile. “Gonna miss you, buddy.”
“It’s gonna be okay, Buck.” He clapped Bucky on the shoulder before bending down to kiss Carina on her forehead. “I’ll be back before you know it, okay? Be good for your mom, angel.” The infant babbled and wriggled around as Steve gave her another kiss and when he straightened, he turned to face (Y/N); his azure eyes were filled with determination but as they took her in, they softened and he gave her a tender smile. “I love you, (Y/N). I always have, and I always will.”
“I love you too, Steve.” Her husband’s hand cradled her cheek and their lips met in a gentle but passionate good-bye kiss. When they finally pulled away, she held his face between her hands and smiled up at him as she forced herself not to cry. “Go get ‘em, sweetheart, and come home safe.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Steve winked and gave her another kiss before ascending the steps and standing at the center of the new Quantum Tunnel.
Sam’s brow was furrowed in confusion as the super-soldier tapped his wrist to activate his Quantum suit into covering his red-white-and blue uniform. “Wait a sec, how long is this gonna take?”
“For him? As long as he needs. For us? Five seconds,” Bruce replied from his control booth, waiting until Steve picked up Mjolnir to hover a hand over a lever to continue. “Ready, Cap?” Steve took a deep breath and gave the scientist a nod, and Bucky’s hand slipped into (Y/N)’s and gave it a gentle squeeze. “All right. We’ll meet you back here, okay?”
“You bet.” The Quantum suit’s helmet enveloped his head and the machinery surrounding him began to hum.
(Y/N)’s hand gripped Bucky’s tight and she anxiously bit her lip as Bruce started his count-down. “Going Quantum in three…two…one!” In the blink of an eye, Steve shrank into nothing and the three of them watched the vacant platform with bated breath while Bruce began his next countdown. “And returning in five…four…three…two…one!”
There was a blinding flash of light and a figure appeared on the platform, hunching over as if catching their breath; the Quantum suit deactivated to reveal their small frame, old-fashioned clothing and a large circular leather case slung over his shoulders. Chaos erupted all around (Y/N), with Sam ordering the figure to stay still and protectively putting himself in front of her and Carina while Bruce frantically checked to make sure his equipment hadn’t malfunctioned, but all she could do was release a shaky breath and quickly sidestep her best friend to ascend the Quantum Tunnel’s steps.
“(Y/N), what the hell are you doing?!” Sam’s hand latched around her wrist to halt her. “We don’t know who the hell this guy is or-”
“Easy, Sam.” Bucky stepped forward and rested his flesh hand on Sam’s shoulder. “She knows what she’s doing.”
Giving the super-soldier a grateful look, (Y/N) turned and continued up the steps while one of her hands slipped into her pocket to grip a stun disc. “Steve?” Her husband, nearly a foot shorter and a hundred pounds lighter, raised his head and met her gaze; the instant his azure eyes found hers, she knew without a shadow of a doubt that it was her Steve standing before her but after 2014 Nebula’s effortless deception and the heavy price they’d paid for it, they agreed to take precautions on the off-chance that history would repeat itself. “Steve, what’s the special nickname you gave me when we first started dating? The one that you’ve never used unless we’re entirely alone?”
Steve’s lips curved into a wide smile. “Tiny Dancer, because you always reminded me of the woman that Elton John was singing about in the song.” (Y/N) surged forward and pulled him into a hug that he was eager to reciprocate. “God, I missed you, sunshine. Doctor Erskine worked as quickly as he could but all I could think about was getting back home to you and Carina, and I-”
“It’s okay, sweetheart, you did it, you made it back to us just like I knew you would.” They pulled away only for Steve to hold her face between his hands and soundly kiss her, sighing happily against her lips when she returned his passion-filled kiss. When they eventually separated, she couldn’t keep herself from smiling widely as she took in his altered appearance. “My handsome husband. I take it that there weren’t any complications?”
Before Steve could answer, the sound of a throat loudly clearing caused them both to look over at Sam, who was standing by the platform steps with his hands on his hips and a brow arched in shock. “Cap?”
“Hi, Sam.” With a sheepish expression on his face, Steve followed (Y/N) down the steps and stood before their two friends, his eyes briefly flicking over to Carina’s pram before turning his attention back to Sam.
A knowing smile began to play on Sam’s lips as he slowly pieced everything together. “So, did something go wrong, or did something go right?”
“Right, definitely right.” A loud sigh of relief escaped Bruce and he immediately stopped fiddling with the switches on his control booth, and Steve chuckled. “Sorry, Bruce. Before I volunteered to put the stones back, I thought that maybe I’ll try some of that life Tony was telling me to get. So, I paid a visit to an old friend and managed to have most of the serum’s enhancements reversed; I’m in mostly better health than I was in 1943, since a reversal of the serum can’t just un-cure medical conditions, but other than that, I’m still just a kid from Brooklyn.” Muscles and super-soldier serum or no muscles and super-soldier serum, (Y/N) silently agreed with her husband, recalling their frank conversation the week earlier right after the funeral…
“Yeah, I’ve been giving that a lot of thought lately, since even before the time heist. But it wasn’t until Tony and I traveled to 1970 and I saw Peggy again that I finally knew what I wanted.” (Y/N) quickly looked up at him as he took a deep breath and reluctantly met her gaze. “(Y/N), there’s something I need to tell you…”
“What is it, Steve?”
“Seeing the life that Peggy led after I went into the ice and that old photograph of me on her desk got me thinking, about what our future could look like depending on the choices we make now while we still can. It’s time for me to hang up the shield and finally live my life as Steve Rogers,” Steve explained, leaning forward in his wicker chair and adjusting his hold on Carina so that he could rest a hand on one of hers. “I never thought I’d feel guiltless at the idea of stopping, but I don’t. All that matters to me now is you and Carina, sunshine, and to make sure that it stays that way, I have an idea…”
Bruce walked over to their group and smiled. “Good for you, Steve. Tony, he…he’d really be proud of you.”
Sam nodded. “I’m happy for you. Truly.” Steve’s azure eyes shone with gratitude at their friends’ acceptance, but (Y/N) saw a flicker of sadness cross her best friend’s features. “Only thing bummin’ me out is the fact I have to live in a world without Captain America.”
“Oh, that reminds me…” With (Y/N)’s help, Steve shrugged off the leather case off his shoulders and leaned it against the steps before unzipping it to reveal an undamaged red-white-and blue vibranium shield. “Try it on.”
The smirk on Sam’s face vanished as the implications of Steve’s invitation settled in. He looked over at Bucky, who gave him a firm nod, and then at (Y/N), who beamed in happiness for him; the night before, Steve told her and Bucky what he was intending on doing with the mantle he’d carried for eighty years and while a part of her was wary of the pressure her best friend might feel, she knew in her heart that there was no one better suited to be Captain America than Sam Wilson.
Still looking a little uncertain, Sam picked up the shield and carefully slipped the leather straps onto his left arm; he stared down at the shield in silence, and (Y/N) and Bucky shared a smile as Steve quietly asked, “How does it feel?”
“…Like it’s someone else’s.”
Steve shook his head and waited until Sam met his gaze to speak. “It’s not.”
(Y/N)’s eyes prickled with unshed tears as she watched her best friend struggle to hold back his own; he took a deep breath and looked out through the trees at the nearby lake before looking back at Steve with an earnest smile on his face. “Thank you. I’ll do my best.”
“That’s why it’s yours,” Steve answered with a grin and both men shook hands, Sam’s large hand enveloping Steve’s newly-smaller one.
(Y/N), making sure to mind her stitches, practically launched herself into her best friend’s open arm and gave him the tightest hug she could manage. “I’m really proud of you, Sam. This doesn’t mean I’ll stop calling you ‘Birdbrain,’ though; that nickname’s for life and not even Captain America can change that.”
Sam laughed. “I read you loud and clear, Booksmart.” He kissed the top of her head and wiped a stray tear away as they pulled away. “So, what’re you three gonna do now? Settle down on a farm like the Barton’s and make a half dozen more of these cutie-pies?” Carina, who was now contentedly nestled in her father’s thin arms, giggled as Sam tickled the patch of skin under her chin.
“Steve Rogers living on a farm?” Bucky scoffed with a twinkle of amusement in his blue eyes. “This punk’s a born-and-raised Brooklynite; all that farm-fresh air might finally do him in.”
Steve rolled his eyes as he rocked Carina. “A hundred and six years old and still a mother hen.”
“Punk.”
“Jerk.”
“Are you gonna keep on writing, (Y/N), or are you gonna go back to teaching at Brooklyn College?” Bruce asked. “My fans absolutely love your books, and I hear that your students are really missing their favorite professor.”
With a mischievous smile, (Y/N) looped her arm around Steve’s narrow shoulders and shared a loving look with him before turning her attention back to the three men standing before her. “We have a plan that sort of includes a little of all of the above, actually. What’s say we explain it to you guys over some lunch at that diner down the road? Our treat.”
“Thanks, doll. I could really go for a cheeseburger.”
“Wait a sec, how do you know what a cheeseburger is?”
“Because I ate my first cheeseburger in 1935, Birdbrain, the same year that they were invented.”
Sam and Bucky continued bickering as they walked along the makeshift path to where they all parked and while an amused Bruce egged their argument on, (Y/N) and Steve trailed behind the boisterous trio, lost in their own little world and the long-awaited promise of a peaceful life together with their beloved daughter.

🌲 Sorry in advance if this is too long lol, here's the emoji 🧐
Fandoms; marvel, dc, stranger things, (and if possible Pedro Pascal characters)
Here's a bit about me :)
I'm almost 19, I have curly brown hair, blue and green eyes (heterochromia), I'm 5'-9", and I'm bi. I am pretty introverted, and it takes me a very long time to warm up to people irl. I sort of dress in whatever I feel comfy with, hoodies, leggings, sweats, t-shirts, and my black converse, or boots.
I love too many fandom and fictional character to count. I am like full-blown obsessed with some of them. In a perfect world, most of them would be real.
My likes: cats, snakes, chocolate, 80's music, pop, metal, rock and roll, Metallica, Fleetwood Mac, Selena Gomez, Ben Platt, Charlie Puth (just to name a few of my favs), singing, reading, writing fanfiction, reading fanfiction, art of any kind, plushies, pop figures, Red Guy from DHMIS, sharks, manga, anime, rocks, collecting rock, manga, pop figures, plushies, cute figures, pictures, and candles, and I love ice cream, strawberries, and Indian food.
My dislikes: heights, getting dirty, people, gossip, bullies, tap water, roller coasters, loud noises, (I hate marvel movies but I love most of the characters), death, liars, and I HATE the Loki Series.
Hope this is good lol!

Goddess Interrupted - Chapter 1
Warnings: Mentions of death, torture, blood, nightmares, and cursing.
Pairing: Bucky x Reader, Steve x Natasha, Tony x Pepper, Wanda x Vision, Bruce, Thor, Loki, and Sam
Word count: 1905
Chapter 1
‘What in Hel just happened?’ I think to myself. Snow softly floated around me as I turned over. I stand up and look around me, taking in the scenery. Snow, ice, foliage, and animal life. I can feel them starting to gather around me. However, I couldn’t care, my world has fallen apart. Everything that I had is now gone, everything that I was praying for gone. My home, my family, my people. How could He have done this to me? He promised to me that he would stand by my side not just as my King but as my father.
A creature that's small, fluffy, and brown is the first to approach me. She props herself up on a small rock that lies near me. I pet the beautiful creature as more approached. As they all settled down around me everything went dark.
“Y/N? Earth to Y/N?” Steve slapped the side on my foot. “Come on, I need your help.” I climbed out of the van and stood in front of him.
“What is it?” I stared into his eyes but then my eye was caught by something I thought I lost a long time ago. James Buchanan Barnes as I live and breathe. I look back at Steve, “How? When?” I start walking over to Bucky.
“Apparently I was what you needed all along,” Steve spoke with a smile on his face.
“Y/N? My memory of you is fussy and confusing,” Bucky spoke.
“That’s fine, I'll help you. Whatever you want to know.” I spoke happily, “I’m just glad that you're you again.” I ran my hand up his chest and to his hair. “I have missed seeing those beautiful eyes of yours.”
“Okay I want you guys to have a great meet up, but we have things to take care of.” Steve joked, “Starting with this.” Steve walked to the truck of the beaten-up car. He pulled out a long case and placed it on the trunk lid. “Y/N.” motioning to the case. I walked around to the case, the power radiating off of it felt familiar.
“Steve, is this what I think it is?” Steve shook his head in agreement. “Oh, my Valhalla!” I opened the case and there lied Dawn. My sword, the present my parents gave to me before my first battle. I removed her from the case as a tear slid down my cheek. “Oh, I’ve been looking for you for a century.”
“What’s so special about a sword?” Scott asked.
“This.” I spoke as a shimmer of gold flowed along my body. My Asgardian armor clinging to my body when the gold disappears. “I thought I’d never wear this again.”
“Wait, you’re Asgardian?” Scott and Sam asked simultaneously.
“Yes. My name is Y/N Odinsdottir. Not Y/N Watson. I’m sorry I lied to you, but I had too,” I apologize.
“Are you a god too?” Scott asked.
“Goddess,” I corrected. “But yes. Goddess of War and Battle.”
“Well now that we’ve wasted enough time, can we please get going?” Bucky moves towards me. “You look beautiful, Doll.” I smile in response.
“Y/N you stay with Bucky and Sam. Tony doesn’t know you’re coming; he wants you to stay out of this.”
“Of course, he did.”
“If things get too rough out there, can you? You know Change?” Steve asked.
“I can’t change back until my power is at full strength, so things would have to get catastrophic.” Steve shook his head in understanding.
Bucky, Sam and I started running apart from the group. We ran alongside some windows that overlooked the rest of the group fighting our friends. Then something broke through the window and took out Sam. Bucky threw a punch but the human in a red and blue suit caught the punch. “You have a metal arm. That is awesome dude,” a teenage boy said. I kicked him in the chest, sending him flying through a wall. I pushed Bucky to move and grabbed Sam’s hand pulling him to move as well. The boy got up and moved to start fighting again. I felt something grab my right foot and pull me back. I fell and was dragged back to the boy. Bucky quickly stopped and grabbed me. While Sam flew to the boy and picked him up flying about the airport fighting in midair. I ripped what looked like spider wedding off of my foot and stood up. Sam crashed against a beam that lined the ceiling. Sam got stable and the boy started crawling along the other beams. “What the hell is that thing?” Bucky asked while throwing a piece of walling at the boy.
“It's a teenage boy, I’m not sure what all he can do.” I spoke as the walling that Bucky threw was now being thrown at Sam. “Bucky?” He turned to face me. “I need you to get Sam and go.”
“What about you?”
“I’ll catch up. Just go.” I opened my wings and flew after the boy. The boy flings something white at Sam. I punch the boy across the face, and he hits the floor. I land next to him and grab him, but he grabs me and throws me into Sam and Bucky, sending us falling to the lower level. I land on Bucky as the kid throws another white fluid at Sam’s hands and mine as well. “Guys look I’d love to keep this up, but I only have one job here today. And I got to impress Mr. Stark.” ‘Fucking Tony’ I thought. “So, I’m really sorry but…” Red wing grabs hold of the boy. “What?” and sends him flying out the window. I turn to Sam.
“Really?” I speak with my Y/H/C hair hanging in my face.
“You couldn’t have done that earlier?” Bucky asks frustrated.
“I hate you,” Sam responded. I stood up and ripped the webbing from my hands. Then from Bucky’s arms. I walked over to Sam and ripped the webbing from his hands too. “Why does this stuff have to be so sticky?” I flung my hands around trying to get it off and out of frustration, “You know what,” I decided to burn it away. My hands lite on fire burning my slightly.
“Y/N calm down,” Sam requested. I took a deep breath and we started moving. We met up with the others fighting on the mat. We all lined up side by side facing the rest of the team. “What do we do Cap?”
“We fight,” Steve ordered as he started charging at our friends.
“This isn’t going to end well,” Natasha stated as her side charged as well. We continued going after them.
“They're not stopping,” spoke the teenage boy.
“And neither are we,” Tony was pissed I knew that. Even with the Iron man mask I knew seeing me he felt betrayed. We ran after each other and when we met the fight erupted. Sam and Wanda took to the sky just as Roddie, Vision and Tony did. I fought with Vision as everyone else took their own person to fight against. I tried to keep my eye on everyone throughout the fighting. But Vision was after all trained by me so of course he knows how to blind side me to get the landing punch. Wanda helped me keep an eye on Bucky, she knew how much he meant to me. She only asked that I don't hurt Vision too much in the process of fighting. I was flying past Bucky as he was fighting with T'Challa and just as I was about to land Wanda used her magic to grab T'Challa's hand and throw him into something. Vision was relentless trying to take me down. I had to use some Asgardian magic to confuse him for a bit. I made illusions of me that surrounded him while I landed and helped Bucky.
“How are you up there and down here?” He asked, glancing up at Vision and at me.
“I’ll tell you on the ship,” we started running to the ship. Tony after his fight with Scott started shooting at me and Bucky. I saw through his mind that he had his aim set on Bucky, he was powering up. I jumped into Bucky, sending him rolling into Steve as Tony shot me with his laser light. I hit a luggage cart, “Oh gods. That fucking hurt.” I layed on the ground for a second until Steve came across the comms, “We need something to distract them.”
“Something big,” Sam added.
“I’ve got something but I won’t be able to hold it for long. On my signal run like hell, and if I tear myself in half don’t come back for me,” Scott spoke. I got to my feet, and started running until Vision landed in front of me.
“Vision, please,” I started.
“You know I can’t let you go Y/N. He has to be taken into custody.” Vision walked up to me. I sighed. He knew that I wouldn’t stop either. Just as we are about to start fighting Scott grew into a huge form of himself. Vision took off after him, and I shrugged my shoulders and started running along Steve and Bucky. T'Challa is not far behind us, but our team distracts him.
“Gods couldn’t this plane be any closer?” I yelled. Steve and Bucky laughed. Depree from the fighting was crashing around us. We were about to the Hanger when the control tower started falling into the opening. Wanda and I held it as best we could as Steve and Bucky continued running. Then Wanda let go and the tower was far too much for me to handle when I'm so out of practice. Steve and Bucky just barely made it across as the tower fell. Vision ran to Wanda’s side. I looked for T’Challa but I couldn't find him. ‘He got through too.’ I started running to the entrance.
When I reached the entrance the plane flew out. The back door was open, “Y/N come on.” Bucky yelled over the comms. I opened my wings once again and took off after the plane. Roddie was behind me along with Sam. I reached the entrance and landed. As I turned I saw Sam about to get hit with something.
“Sam lookout!” Sam maneuvered away from the yellow light. But Roddie got hit. “RODDIE!” I went to go after him. But Bucky caught my arm. “I'll be right back I promise.” I flew after Roddie as he was plummeting to the Earth. I reached out as far as my magic could let me, I was only able to grab a part of him before he hit the ground. I landed next to him just like Tony. “He’s alive but badly injured. I have to go. I’m so sorry.” Tony just looked at me completely confused and betrayed. I flew back to Steve and Bucky, I landed a little rougher than normal.
“How is he?” Steve asked. I looked up at him and a tear fell down my face.
“Alive,” I stated. Bucky helped me to my feet. “He’s paralyzed.” I sat down on the table in the center of the room. “Are you guys okay? Any healing needed?” Bucky shook his head no and Steve responded with a ‘I’m fine Y/N/N’. I layed down on the table until we reached our destination.
