person is right tho. blunt, but right. tumblr is the only site i can think of where jokes based in unreality become this popular this regularly. this isn't even close to the first time tumblr has created a meme out of something that doesn't actually exist. if seeing a meme about a fake movie sends you into a psychotic episode then tumblr is literally not a super safe place for you to be. like if i'm allergic to dogs i'm not gonna go to the dog park and tell everyone to get a fish instead for my benefit.
point and laugh at the anon bringing up a 2 day old post to cause drama

I'd like to preface this with that this is a screenshot of a post I saw a few days ago in the #welsh tag and that the OP has since deleted this post, but the sentiment is something I'd like to address since I see a lot of parallels with this kind of thinking in other contexts, such as in LGBTQIA+ rights conversations.
So, the most obvious elephant in the room is the idea that Welsh is super widely spoken in Wales now and that it isn't in as much danger as other Celtic languages. This idea is wishful thinking at best and erases the very real danger that Welsh is in and that it could be lost just as easily as Irish or Scottish Gaelic. Cornish (which is related to Welsh) actually did die out and has had to be revived. To make a metaphor out of this, we classify languages on a scale of non-threatened to endangered in a similar way to how we classify species.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are the statuses of Welsh and Irish as of 2010 (above) and the statuses of Lions and Tigers (below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On paper tigers are more 'in danger' than lions. But that does not mean that lions are suddenly not in danger at all. The little bracket above CR, EN and VU labels all of these classifications as threatened. It isn't (and definitely shouldn't) be a competition of 'who is most in danger' because you do not want the thing you care about (whether it be a species or a language) to be in danger.
Tumblr media
To come back to the original screenshot "they* [Welsh speakers] have always had the means and the ways because the English didn't beat or slaughter them for speaking it"- on the most basic of levels, this is just incorrect. The Welsh Not was a wooden token hung around schoolchildren's necks if they spoke Welsh in school. If someone else spoke Welsh the Not would be hung around their neck. At the end of the school day, whoever was wearing the Not would be beaten and caned by their teachers. I needn't go into much detail but there have been concerted efforts to beat Welsh out of schoolchildren. With the lions vs tigers metaphor, making the claim Welsh speakers have never been beaten for speaking Welsh because they always had the means and ways, while Irish speakers were beaten and never had the means or ways is like claiming poachers have never shot lions, only tigers. Bottom line is, lions and tigers are both victim to poaching and both species have suffered as a result. Similarly, Welsh and Irish have both suffered language loss and both need conservation efforts in order to survive.
(*sidenote- the consistent use of 'them' and 'they' in the original post is definitely indicative of a 'us vs them' sentiment which is a deeply unhelpful attitude to have when it comes to endangered languages and the Celtic languages in particular)
I see parallels with LGBTQIA+ rights in this situation. When equal marriage came in for gay and lesbian couples in the UK in 2014, many allies began to act like gay rights had now been achieved and that gay issues had been done, they're solved. Except, they really weren't (and aren't). Progress has been made in Wales and undeniably Welsh is doing the best out of the living Celtic languages. But that doesn't mean Welsh has been saved or that full equality for Welsh speakers has been achieved. It very much hasn't. The sentiment of the post in the screenshot is not conducive to helping Irish or Scottish Gaelic. Putting down Welsh speakers and erasing Welsh-language history will not save Irish or Scottish Gaelic. Pretending Welsh has had it easy in some kind of lap of luxury is a deeply harmful and bogus claim.
I'll address the tags under the cut as this post is getting long.
To address the tags, personal feelings ≠ an accurate reading of a situation. Nor is it praxis, for that matter. Why is pride in Welsh different/less good than pride in Irish? Is it the assumed proximity to England? If so, that's a terrible claim to make. Not only that, but Scotland is also next to England- does that make pride in Scottish Gaelic the same as pride in Welsh according to this metric? It's a ludicrous thing to say and deeply insensitive to the needs of Scottish Gaelic and Welsh speakers, who cannot help any current or former proximity to England.
Additionally, proximity to England ≠ worse. I know it's a popular internet joke to hate on England because of English attempts to eradicate the Celtic languages, but when the joke becomes praxis, it does not help. England ≠ a place devoid of Celtic languages either. Many English counties near the Welsh border actually have communities of Welsh speakers, such as Oswestry (Croesoswallt) in Shropshire. Cornwall is also home to many speakers of revived Cornish. It does a disservice to Celtic speakers in England to insinuate that proximity to England taints or corrupts them somehow. This is how ethnonationalism starts and we ain't about that.
And "#it feels a little.... blehhhhh you were seen as sophisticated and english enough and you assimilated however the Irish and the Scots? #brutish animals that need to be culled". So, this is arguably one of the worst things to say about a Celtic language- or any threatened language in general. First of all, the 'you were seen as' - 'you' is very telling. The switch from 'them', 'they' to 'you' indicates that this sentiment is aimed at Welsh speakers directly. This was likely a subconscious thing that OP wasn't thinking about when they wrote this. But it does indicate unhealthy feelings of jealousy and bitterness unfairly directed at Welsh speakers, who are also struggling. This righteous anger at the decline of Irish and Scottish Gaelic would be better directed at efforts to help promote those languages- some useful things to get involved with are LearnGaelic, similar to DysguCymraeg but for Scottish Gaelic or supporting channels such as Irish channel TG4 by watching their programmes.
The idea that Welsh speakers were or are 'sophisticated and english enough' is insulting and carries with it a lot of baggage of how any of these assumptions came about. Welsh speakers were definitely not seen as sophisticated. Where Welsh was 'tolerated', it was treated as a curiosity, a relic of a bygone age. Classic museification which all Celtic languages and cultures suffer from as well. Welsh was not tolerated in any legal sense since 1535- with English becoming the only valid administrative language and the language of Welsh courts after England annexed Wales into its Kingdom. Monolingual Welsh speakers suddenly had no access to any legal representation, unless they learned English. This is no voluntary assimilation- it is an act of survival for many speakers of minoritised languages to 'assimilate' into the dominant culture, or else risk losing access to legal security and other kinds of infrastructure. You need only ask any non-native English speaker living in an Anglophone country what that process is like. Welsh people did not see English incursion as an opportunity to become 'sophisticated and english enough', they had to assimilate in order to survive.
The "Irish and the Scots? #brutish animals that need to be culled" is also painfully misrepresenting a very complex social and political process that unfolded over the span of hundreds of years. The phrasing itself of 'brutish animals that need to be culled' speaks to righteous anger at the damage done to these languages and cultures, but it reinforces negative stereotypes about the Irish and Scots themselves. It also is more complicated than a simple English hatred of anything non-Anglo, since the English conception of particularly the Irish changed a lot over the centuries. It was (and still is) rarely consistent with itself. See: the enemy is both strong and weak. The very earliest Celticists were by and large, Anglos or French.
Ernest Renan (1823-1892) for example, was an early French Celticist who published La Poésie des races celtiques (Poetry of the Celtic Races- English translation) in which he says:
"... we must search for the explanation of the chief features of the Celtic character. It has all the failings, and all the good qualities, of the solitary man; at once proud and timid, strong in feeling and feeble in action, at home free and unreserved, to the outside world awkward and embarrassed. It distrusts the foreigner, because it sees in him a being more refined than itself, who abuses its simplicity. Indifferent to the admiration of others, it asks only one thing, that it should be left to itself. It is before all else a domestic race, fitted for family life and fireside joys. In no other race has the bond of blood been stronger, or has it created more duties, or attached man to his fellow with so much breadth and depth"
Yeah. This guy (unsurprisingly) was a white supremacist. Note that this sentiment is being applied to all people considered Celtic by Renan- Irish, Welsh, Breton, Scottish, Cornish, Manx etc. None unscathed by the celtophobia of the day. In this period, Celticity was romanticised (yet disparaged at the same time). It is less 'brutish animals' and more 'archaic, time-frozen peoples' in this period. Of course, 'brutish animals' attitudes towards Celticity did still exist, but it is disingenuous to act as if it was this attitude alone which drove English celtophobia. Like many things, it is always more complicated and never clear cut as it might seem.
I'll bring this to a close shortly, but returning to OP's suggestion that the Welsh assimilated and the Scots and Irish did not, is also incorrect in that some Scots did have to assimilate to survive as well. The Statutes of Iona (1609) required Scottish Gaelic speaking Highland chiefs to send their sons away to be educated in Scots and/or English in Protestant schools. Many did as the statutes required, which led to further language loss in the Highlands of Scottish Gaelic. These are acts of survival- and not ones always taken willingly.
This has been a long post but it's one which I felt I wanted to address. There's no need for infighting between speakers of Celtic languages over who has it worse. There isn't any answer to that question, nor is it a good use of time or energy. All in all, the Celtic languages have suffered greatly over the years and its only just now that some of them are turning a corner. If you care about these languages, put your energy into something good. Only through active work will these languages be saved for generations to come.

addressing the drama (with receipts)
I wanted to have my ducks in a row before speaking out instead of just responding; I’m not doing this to change anyone’s opinions - it’s really not possible change someone’s perception of me even if it’s based on falsehoods - but I need to do this so I know I’ve said and shown what needs to be shown, and people can do with it what they please.
To the readers and writers who have blocked me, unfollowed me, and mutuals who have stopped talking to me over this - I’m really, really sad you didn’t come to me first and give me the opportunity to explain what was going on. I understand if you wanted to distance yourself from drama but I also need you to understand that this was not discourse-drama I willingly got myself into. This was a month of frequent harassment and slander that eventually turned into bullying by a group of people using false info, hiding behind side blogs and anons, and I hoped it would blow over but it never seemed to stop. With anons turned off for most of the last two months, people have gone to my friends’ inboxes instead to harass them about me (and insult them in the process), and I can’t do this anymore.
I feel so alienated and disliked in this community that I can’t go on the dash without feeling like I shouldn’t interact with anyone out of fear that they’ll get uncomfortable seeing me in their notifs. People keep saying they want the community to get better and then they jump on the bandwagon of vague posting and RBing without taking a second to verify the claims, clearly not realizing how much hurt it causes to perpetuate it. If you’re reading this, I  hope your name isn't the next one they pull out of the hat when they want someone new to push off the platform.
Explanations, timelines and receipts below.
-
For anyone waiting for an explanation regarding the posts and anons about me that have circulated for weeks, or waiting for receipts proving or disproving that I’m a mean girl who spends my time talking shit, here you go. I am so beyond hurt, I don’t even know what to say. I’m floored, I’m so disappointed in this community and I’m so sad. In the last two weeks, I stayed up until 4am one night receiving screenshots of posts and anons about me, I cried, I tried to understand why this has happened to me, and I have sat here day after day with no answers.
If you think I’m being melodramatic, try losing a quarter of your mutuals and having a bunch of people block you when you’ve had either no interaction with them or they’ve all been positive, and see how that feels, on top of constant rumors about you being a terrible person when you know you’ve barely had any negative interactions with anyone on the platform. I can’t be on tumblr any longer without exonerating myself and putting it out there that all of this has been one gigantic mess based on lies about me, seemingly compounded by grievances people have against Gracie (some one whose personal conversations have nothing to do with me). Either I do this, or I log out forever and only post on ao3, cause I feel like the fucking grim reaper here. Posts about me being an awful person are still circulating, despite the original post being deleted and the follow up stating that the OP has talked to me and they have apologized.
I’m not naming names in this. I will be using person A/B/C/D to make it less confusing. I’ve removed identifying information from the screenshots because even though I’m hurt by these people, I know that they will get dogpiled and harassed if I identify them, and I want it all to stop. Several have apologized to me and I have accepted.
Sometime in December, rumors started circulating that there was a “big/elite writers discord” where they talked shit about small writers (I’m not in any discords specifically for writers and I have never heard of such a server). At about the same time, person A - someone who was very active in my own, now-deleted discord server, started frequently vagueposting about me, calling me a mean girl and, intentionally or not, made it seem like I was part of this “elite group of writers”. This is someone who I have never had a negative interaction with and who seemingly out of nowhere decided that I call myself elite and I’m a terrible person.
Person B had some grievances with myself, Iris, and Gracie it seemed, so they went to person C and accused us of talking shit in our voice chats. I assume person A and B have talked about me at some point and validated each other’s claims, but I can't know that for sure. Person B messaged me from a burner account and apologized, then seemingly deleted the account after I responded.
Gracie frequently posted about us three chatting, and although I understand this might have felt alienating to some, many writers are open about having group chats with each other. All we did was write, edit, and Gracie sometimes made memes. We talked about non-fic stuff often, and when Gracie had an issue with other writers and she was upset, we talked about it. That’s what friends do. She knows that I believe those situations were handled poorly. One of those situations came to light recently - I had a very pleasant conversation with the writer involved, and we are still in touch.
I have spoken to person C, who posted the most “popular” smear post about me and some of my friends. They retracted their statements and profusely apologized to us, admitting it was based on stuff they heard from person B, showing me screenshots of the conversation. However, their original posts are still circulating through reblogs despite being deleted from their account.
Person D also posted about me and my friends, however their post was sort of ridiculous, accusing me of spending more time replying to anons than writing. I found this funny, but the way they slut shamed my friend was absolutely not humorous, and dragging a random writer in to criticize them was a strange attempt at adding fuel to the fire.
-
And for the receipts,
I blocked person A after seeing a handful of vague posts clearly about me, and after they interacted with every single rude anon posted about me that I saw. I think that’s reasonable, no? I’m not gonna post screenshots of their posts cause I honestly just don’t want to look at them again, they make me feel kind of sick if I'm honest, but if anyone doesn’t believe me, they are welcome to DM me and I will send.
Person B messaged me, admitted to partaking in this mess, and apologized. This is part of a LONG message:
Tumblr media
Person C apologized over message and called me on discord. We had a conversation clearing things up, they deleted their posts and wrote a public apology.
If you need any proof that person B’s claims were, in fact, baseless, look at this exchange between person B and person C after person C had cleared things up with me.
Tumblr media
Person D honestly just creeps me out, cause what the fuck is this? Fine if you don’t like me based on my writing or my persona on here but… Why the witch hunt?
ETA: Person C asked person D to take down their post and they never responded. This was sent prior to that, I know the full context, I just thought this specific part was worth sharing to show how vile some people allow themselves to be behind burner accounts.
Tumblr media
What kind of behavior is this? This was from a sideblog, and I don't know what their main account is. It creeps me the fuck out knowing this person is lurking somewhere in the community.
I have hated every moment of this. None of this has been fun for me. This has completely fucked up my motivation to write and my enjoyment of it, it has made me anxious, it has messed with my self esteem, and it has made me want to log out of Tumblr and not come back.
Please, I beg, if you have an issue with me, just come to me and I promise I will have a conversation with you. You can’t tell people’s tone over anon and I don’t think that’s a good way to have a conversation, especially one about something that should be solved in private, so they remain off, but my DM’s are open.
I'm so sick of seeing vagueposts and trying to decipher if they're about me. Having to do that a bunch of times messes with your head.
I'm not sure what to do moving forward, but I needed to say my piece. I don't want to talk about this again, I want to put this behind me. I seriously hope this doesn't wreck my last remaining want to share my writing on here.
Thanks again to everywhere who has supported me in my DMs and comments, you mean the world to me 🤍🤍🤍 And if you found yourself duped by all this but change your opinion on me now or eventually, I won't hold a grudge, and I'm happy to speak again and pick up where we left off.

Just wondering what posts exactly got your blog Big?
I followed you because of interesting Wales stuff, which I doubt is why most people followed you if your follower base is indeed big enough for it to cause you problems.
Well, it all started with a walrus, and then it was the Clowns in Power and their illegal tea parties. I solidly pick up chunks of followers each time I make certain specific posts - when I posted about my terrible Skyrim potions, for example, I got a few hundred, and I pick up a hundred or so each Christmas as the Mari Lwyd does the rounds. But the thousands and thousands came from the walrus and the clown show
Generally I don't think it's my actual followers that cause the problems, per se (although I imagine some do, there are so many!) I think it's more that my reach these days is much wider. Bad faith actors who don't know at all who I am are much more likely to see stuff I write now, because any given post spreads further. It's not so bad though, I have no fear of the block and delete buttons and if a post is extremely not sparking joy in its responses I turn off reblogs.
Not even extremely, actually - I asked that question the day before yesterday about US universities and got a lot of responses, which was great! But no one checks the notes of posts like that to see if the answer has already been given. So now the responses have long since become the same lengthy explanation with the same info and it's clogging up my notes (hilariously I did reply to it saying "Thank you everyone, this has now been answered", and it actually increased the number of people giving me that same lengthy answer. This is because humans like sharing their personal experiences. No shade at all, it's just inconvenient when you're the OP lol.) So, I'll probably turn off reblogs for that one today.
I do miss the small follower count though. It was a less stressful experience. My reach was limited to people who didn't intentionally misread me and weren't fucking unhinged, so I could say things like "I think dark purple text on a black background is not very readable for my eyes" and not get told I have covid-induced brain damage or told to fuck off by three thousand people in the tags, you know? Good times. I need to find the digital equivalent of rent-lowering gunshots

Hi! So i have a question how do i make a long distance relationship work. I just got a girlfriend last night and she’s states away from me and I feel like we aren’t really connecting? Because i don’t really know much about her but I’m trying to get to know her more but it’s hard because it’s just over text messages. I connect more in person so I was wondering how to connect and make this work out?
Also neither of us have dated before so we’re going in blind and our families aren’t accepting either.
I’ve had two long term long distance relationships, so I definitely know the struggle.
Some things you can do to help connect with each other:
• Communication is suuuuuper important. It’s important in normal relationships, but even more so in long distance.
• text each other throughout the day, telling each other random things you’ve been doing.
• find fun little questionnaires you can ask each other on call.
• watch movies together over video call
• have little dates. E.g. my ex girlfriend and I sometimes had ‘paint dated’ where we each had our painting things with us and just painted together and spoke while we did.
• calling fairly regularly is a must, even if it’s a two minute call to check in. My current partner calls me to check in and it makes my day.
• if you’re able, maybe send each other something through the post (it doesn’t have to be obviously romantic, especially since your parents aren’t accepting). My current partner and I send each other things through post (like a cap that you know they’ll like, or a necklace you thought would look pretty on them).
• there are fun little trivia videos on YouTube that you can do together over call. Just send each other the link and start the video at the same time :)
• being really flirty over text can also help with really making it feel more like a relationship and not just a close friendship
• be open with each other, especially as you become closer.
• make a concerted effort to talk to one another and spend time together online/on the phone or video call. Of all the points I’ve made, this one’s probably one of the most important.
Wishing you and your girlfriend the best, anon ❤️

1/4: in a deleted comment on the AMA Ben said that while he was being scoped by doctors and trying to recover his voice he developed a vocal cord infection to top everything off. But the comment also included him complaining about people at the closing and someone assumed he was sh*t talking Sarah Brightman so he deleted it.
2/4: As someone who works in PR (and has judged Phantom for their terrible PR for years) the possible options look messy and make the production look worse than Ben. Either it was obvious from the start Ben would not be recovered from his vocal injury in time and so they told him he wouldn’t go on but they delayed announcing any cast changes to try and make it seem like it was last minute and illness-related and brushed everything under the rug.
3/4: Or Ben was trying to heal from his vocal strain in time and spent two weeks hoping he would be able to go on and mid-week closing week they had to scrap together a plan. Either way, the drama could have been avoided if on April 2 they said that because of doctor’s orders Ben was on vocal rest indefinitely and if he could not do it a secret Phan Favorite would take over. It’s just baffling because it would have been really easy to advertise Laird as a veteran from Phantom Broadway with advance notice while still doing a little segment at the curtain call to thank Ben and do a photo op with Laird.
4/4: As for Ben’s PR right now, it’s not a great look but he’s not going to be blacklisted for being messy on a small Reddit thread when known abusers still get cast in the industry. It seems like he’s hurt from missing out on getting closure the way he imagined plus not getting the limelight after being the lead for 3+ years, which is why Greg and Laird made sure to post about him closing night since the production didn’t.
Oh, I SAW that comment. I was at work scrolling while on the phone with a client (who had been complaining uninterrupted for the past 15 minutes) when I saw Ben's answer and I nearly CHOKED. That whole reply thread quickly spiraled out of control (just WHY was that commenter so convinced that Nick Lloyd Webber was the son of ALW and Sarah Brightman??).
I completely agree with your take. I don't think the AMA was a good idea, especially considering how emotionally fraught this whole situation is. Ben is (understandably) hurt and frustrated by the entire situation and the Phantom management team should have handled this better. I'm rewatching the remarks made after the final performance, and I wish the prepared remarks highlighted Ben's contribution to the legacy of Phantom. I know his portrayal can be divisive amongst phans (and lord knows I've had plenty to say about him) but he's played the role for 3 1/2 years. He deserves some respect on his name.

I hope I don’t come off as rude, but how come you post every request you won’t be writing for while explaining the reason/s? At this point most of them just amount to ‘anon not realizing yanderes are inherently abusive’/‘darling being too op’/‘darling being too much of a terrible person’.
Because I've made it a principle to answer every ask I get in some shape or form, even if it takes me some time. It has happened all too often to me that I've sent an ask in, only to never get an answer and that is something that I don't want to do to the people sending asks in my inbox.
Personally, I find it a lot better to say "No, this isn't something I write about" than to ignore the ask, and delete it sometime in the far future. If the person doing the asking send it in non-anon, then I answer it privately to them. However, that isn't something I can do with anon asks, so I answer them publicly.
Aside from that, it gives the other people following me, reading my stuff an idea of the stuff I don't write.

Btw I am NOT low support needs. I am mid to high support needs due to both autism and my other disabilities. I can't do basic household tasks and struggle with basic hygiene tasks. Sometimes I happen to be able to read and write using academic language, but sometimes I can't even understand simple language, as I have fluctuating cognitive disabilities.
I will also say: stop misapproppriating social justice language. I have listened to people with ID. I do still disagree that a slur I was hurt by is not mine to reclaim. "Listen to the people most affected by this" is not a way to shut down anyone else affected by it. "You can't have an opinion about this because you don't have ID and you don't have ID so your opinion that people without ID can have an opinion is worthless" is fucking circular logic.
Privilege within marginalized communities is also not absolute. People treat privilege like race, anyone who has it in any way is as good as white or white passing and anyone who doesn't is a POC. It doesn't work that way with most other marginalized people. Privilege within communities doesn't translate outside of them. Abled people don't actually listen to me because I don't have an ID. I can sometimes mask and they still don't listen to me ABOUT neurodivergence.
Lateral ableism is still possible between ANY disabled people. I have been told what my experiences are, why they happened, been called low support needs (I am mid to high support needs, quite honestly I question whether not calling myself high support needs is internalized ableism or not).
They claimed that I'm blocking everyone with an ID that disagrees (ONE person - to my knowledge - with an ID, who does not speak for everyone with IDs, responded, the rest were all people WITHOUT IDs - just like a bunch of self-proclaimed TME people tagged the original post transmisogyny. Anyway, I already had that person blocked for a completely different reason, unrelated to disability at ALL. I only even saw it because someone else reblogged that addition.)
I have also been told how I use a slur that I explicitly previously stated I did not personally reclaim. Also, as someone with a cognitive disability (ID is specifically lifelong and has strict diagnostic criteria), I absolutely do have the right to reclaim it if it's about "low intellect", because while my IQ (a terrible measure of anything) is not low, my intellect itself varies MASSIVELY and sometimes I can't do what are at other times the most basic of tasks. Yeah, I have absolutely been called st*pid and similar for that.
To be clear, having ID does NOT make you incapable of being ableist to disabled/ND people without ID. An obvious example, ironically, would be calling someone a slur they didn't consent to, which is ableism no matter who does it. But microaggressions and erasing someone's actual lived experiences are still also ableist. Calling someone low support needs who explicitly considers themself mid to high support needs is ableist.
To address some other related comments people left on the OP: I am not one of the people that says no one can use the puzzle piece. I will not comment on reclaiming racial slurs because racism is a unique kind of bigotry that ableism and any other kind do not map to well. Again, I am not low support needs, the only thing I can do is SOMETIMES mask to some extent. I was diagnosed before levels, and masking can make me appear for short periods as level 1, with consequences. But I am MINIMALLY level 2 based on my actual abilities and support needs. I also, having decided I will actually reclaim it, do not use it as an insult, but in the sense of "I am deserving of decency and having my worth recognized regardless of my intellectual ability".
The solution to slur discourse is not actually "decide which identities are ontologically able to reclaim these, and police the shit out of anyone else who dares have an opinion on a word that's been weaponized against them. It's, let people reclaim whatever words they feel they have been significantly affected by (outside of racial/ethnic slurs). It's, kill the cop in your head and as long as someone is not insulting themself and only using slur on THEMSELF, assuming good faith.
(Yes, if they are using it as an insult as the person responding claimed, that is still ableism and should be called out by everyone.)
It's also NOT taking the word of exactly ONE person who is "allowed" to speak on the matter, and calling everyone who disagrees an ableist who is speaking over people with ID while also not having ID and ignoring that not everyone with ID even agrees. (Or tagging the post of an intersex transfemmasc as "transmisogyny" simply because she ... said that trans women can reclaim the f slur. -_-) Talk about tokenizing!
We already made a post making our stance on both slur discourse and blocking in general clear. But to clarify: any slur that hurts you that is not a racial or ethnic slur, YOU can decide if you can reclaim it. The r slur demonizes neurodivergence as a whole, not just ID, considering people saw me excelling in school and then used it about my social ineptitude. It is used to punish ANY noncomformity from neurotypical hegemony, regardless of type. They fully saw me as intelligent, and used it anyway because they didn't care, they just saw someone who was different.
Respecting and listening to does not mean deifying. It does not mean never disagreeing or listening to what someone says and then still making a different decision based on your own experiences. Especially given that my cognitive issues, when they manifest, do so almost exactly the same as ID, the only difference being that they are temporary.
Either it's about intellectual inability and so anyone with cognitive or intellectual disability can reclaim it, or it's not actually just about that and the people affected by it can reclaim it. Which is it? Because bigots don't use slurs based on the diagnosis you have on paper, which means reclamation isn't actually about identity but about who has been affected and hurt by it in their actual lives.
And since I've changed my mind on reclamation: Yeah, I'm a retard, so what? My lack of cognitive ability sometimes, my neurodivergence, none of it makes me any less worthy of respect or decency. It's not bad to be cognitively or intellectually disabled, that's not an insult, and I'll bite anyone who says otherwise.
Reblogs and comments are both turned off for now because quite honestly, after how people responded, I am not capable of dealing with that.

you sound bitter bc the “art stealer” is getting more notes on posts than you. I know them irl. they also don’t claim the art as theirs, they’re just sharing it on this platform. the artwork they are posting is all over the internet, mainly Pinterest, without any indication who the artist is. they give credit when they know who the artist is. they literally changed the post to include credit as soon as you gave them the original artist’s instagram handle, despite you claiming that they did nothing.
Tumblr media
I am aware that I sound very bitter. I am allowed to. You're saying that I am not allowed to feel bad or bitter when I see someone steal, and get interactions on their stolen posts? And yes, in this case they have reached higher notes than most of mine. But when I called this out the first time, they didn't, the elmax art had just around 100 and this el one had 14 notes.
I have seen stolen art on the Byler tag before that got zero notes. ZERO. And that also made me want to call that person out. I didn't, but I still think about digging up that post and doing it. So I don't know what to tell you, art theft makes me mad every time, but yes, in this instance the amount of notes has a part in my actions. Because now it's not just about the op deleting the post, because that doesn't delete it from this platform completely. It will stay here as long as there are reblogs of it.
You're really trying to justify art theft? Art theft is never justified. Just because the art has been stolen several times already and is all over pinterest as you say, DOES NOT make it okay for more people to be spreading it around. I highly doubt any artist posts their art on pinterest, (my art has been posted there and it was terrible) so it is safe to assume that if you find art on pinterest it is already stolen.
And just like op you're trying to justify art theft by saying, they don't claim it as their own. They only wanted to share it to this platform, you say? And that isn't stealing? When it's still posted without the artist knowing or conseting? Interesting. Well, that's not cool. It's not right. It is not justified, and it's still stealing, no matter what you say.
And you also say there's no indication to who the artist is. (You're also using the exact wording as the op did in DMs. I'm not gonna say it but I'm thinking it) The elmax art had the artist handle right in the middle of it. You call that "no indication"?
Tumblr media
Also it took me about two minutes to figure out the original artists and to find the original posts. So it really is not that hard to find them. And if you can't, then don't post it. And even if you do, still don't repost other people's art because they aren't consenting to it. This is what the elmax art had in the description. Doesn't seem like your friend even checked out the artist after I told them who it is.
Tumblr media
And fine, I admit saying they did nothing is not completely true. I was going to bed and trying not to ramble in the tags of that post. I'm sorry that I spread misinformation like that. They did do something, they added the artist credit to the description. But as we already established, that artist doesn't allow reposts. And also, if you don't know how tumblr works editing the original post after there are reblogs, only edits the original post, not the reblogs. So now there are reblogs of that art with no credit floating around tumblr.
Honestly I know that reasoning with people who have stolen art never works. My art has been stolen on Instagram and for two years I have asked for it to be taken down(yes the repost has more likes then mine, I am allowed to feel bad about that). I just really wish it never happened in the first place but the world can't be that perfect now can it?
