Damian Wayne Gets New DC Black Label Comic Series

Damian Wayne is taking center stage in a new DC Black Label (for mature readers) comic book series. Damian will be joined by previous Robins in the new 5-issue series. The Boy Wonder hails from writer and artist Juni Ba, letterer Aditya Bidikar, and colorist Chris O'Halloran.

DC Comics Announces Publication Date for "The Strange Case of Harleen and Harley and "Bad Dream: A Dreamer Story"

DC Comic's young adult original graphic novels The Strange Case of Harleen and Harley and Bad Dream: A Dreamer Story will publish in 2024.

The Strange Case of Harleen and Harley from author Melissa Marr, artist Jenn St-Onge, colorist Jeremy Lawson, and letterer Lucas Gattoni will go in sale on September 3, 2024.

Harleen and her girlfriend Pamelia sign up to participate in a clinical research trial. For Harleen it sounds like a good way to make some extra cash and maybe help control her anxiety. Instead, Harleen end s up with "increasingly larger gaps in her memory and stolen mementos from some guy named Jack. Soon Harleen discovers she’s sharing her life with Harley—a take-no-prisoners, who-cares-about-attendance, maybe-we-oughta-save-the-bunnies kind of girl. She is the opposite of Harleen in every way. Iwájú Trailer

In futuristic Lagos, Nigeria, Tol is a young girl from the wealthy island and Kole, a self-taught tech expert, is her best friend. The two discover the secrets and dangers hidden in their quite different worlds.

Kugali and Walt Disney Animation's Iwájú is directed by Olufikayo Ziki Adeola from a screenplay by Adeola and Halima Hudson. Hamid Ibrahim serves as production designer on the series and Toluwalakin Olowofoyeku serves as cultural consultant. Iwájú stars the voice talents of Simisola Gbadamosi (Tola), Siji Soetan (Kole), Dayo Okeniyi, Femi Branch, and Weruche Opia.

Iwájú drops on Disney+ on February 28, 2024.

DC Comics Announces Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle Young Adult Graphic Novels

DC Comics has announced two new young adult graphic novels: Wonder Woman: The Adventures of Young Diana and This Land s Our Land: A Blue Beetle Story.

Wonder Woman: The Adventures of Young Diana hails from Jordie Bellaire and Paulina Ganucheau. The graphic novel is a collection of stories about young Diana originally published in Wonder Woman #770-#779 and #785-#796 and the Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular.

"The world may know her as Wonder Woman, but once upon a time she was Diana, the young princess of Themyscira. Back then, she struggled to find her place on an island deemed paradise by many, but which was, to her, a prison. Trapped in her role as a royal and shielded from the harsh realities of Man’s World, Diana yearns for adventure, or at least a purpose. So when ancient texts portraying her home’s history go missing, she gets both. How far will our hero go to find the texts and the truths they’re hiding?" (DC Comics)

Wonder Woman: The Adventures of Young Diana goes on sale on August 6, 2024.

This Land s Our Land: A Blue Beetle Story hails from Julio Anta, Jacoby Salcedo, and Francesco Segala. The story follows a high school aged Jaime Reyes, who lives in El Paso, Texas. TJaime loves his family, culture, and home. "But lately he’s begun to realize that he and his border community are being used as pawns in an increasingly toxic immigration debate.

The last few months have seen armed troops deployed along the U.S. and Mexico border, manufactured crackdowns at official border crossings, and now, at the community level, a mounting resentment amongst a disaffected and reactionary group who believe they’re being “replaced” by El Paso’s growing immigrant population. And to make matters worse, one of Jaime’s oldest friends, Riley, has bought into the propaganda. In addition to DC Pride 2024, on sale May 28, 2024, DC Comics has announces a couple other DC Pride titles for 2024 - DC Pride: A Celebration of Rachel Pollack and DC Pride: Uncovered.

DC Pride: A Celebration of Rachel Pollack celebrated the life of works of writer Rachel Pollack. The 96-page one-shot comic book will reprint the debut of Kate Godwin / Coagula, DC's first transgender hero, from Doom Patrol #70, who was created by Pollack and pencilled by Scot Eaton. The comic will also reprint Pollack and artist Michael Allred's Vertigo Visons: The Geek. Finally, the one-shot will also feature a new Coagula short story from Pollack's friend and collaborator Joe Corallo and artist Rye Hickman.

DC Pride: A Celebration of Rachel Pollack #1 goes on sale on June 6, 2024.

DC Pride: Uncovered #1 is a collection of variant covers spotlighting DC's LGBTQIA+ characters across the DCU. The collection is scripted by Andrea Shea, DC editor and includes covers from Jen Bartel, Phil Jimenez, Jim Lee, Joshua “Sway” Swaby, David Talaski, Babs Tarr, Kris Anka, and more.

Black Widow Becomes Symbiote Hero in "Black Widow: Venomous"

Marvel Comics has announced a new one-shot following Black Widow and her new symbiote, which she received in Al Ewing and Torunn Grønbekk's 2023 Venom series. Black Widow: Venomous is written by Erica Schultz and drawn by Luciano Vecchio. The comic will set up Black Widow for Marvel Comics' upcoming "Venom War" event.

1987 Star Comic Defenders of the Earth miniseries is being collected into a paperback graphic novel from Mad Cave. The graphic novel will collect issues 1-4. Defenders of the Earth hailed from writers Stan Lee, Bob Harras, and Michael Higgins and artists Alex Saviuk and Fred Fredericks.
