Me: I haven’t worked on any writing in a while. Maybe I should go do that.
Also Me: That pillow over there is looking a little too comfortable...

Alright, I’m putting a pause on my actual writing because I realize that posting on tumblr is inefficient. So instead, I came up with a couple short stories that are in the same universe as “Heavenly Conspiracy”.
The first one I’m currently working on is called “The Child’s Doll”. Basically deals with how the government deals with the Angel crisis. (Something that will be explained later). I’m dividing it into three parts which will be posted in order. Along with that, I will be working on a prologue for “Heavenly Conspiracy” after this short story. Thank you to those who have supported and encouraged this process!

I’m an idiot.
I keep saying I’ll finish my writing but I never do. So I’m moving to Wattpad to write for now. I apologize to no one.

The Child’s Doll (part 2)
“Excuse me?” asked Collin.
“You heard me. You’re her brother. Now don’t interrupt me again. We try no to upset her if we can help it”.
“I don’t even know your name, and you’re gonna just tell me that I have a sibling that I didn’t know about!?”
The girl turned towards the two of them and spoke in the same raspy voice.
“What’s his name?”
Apparently, she was surprised by this too, or at least had no idea of Collin’s existence either.
“His name is Collin”.
The girl closed her eyes and frowned.
She turned back to her corner and sat down facing the wall. She placed her hands on he wall and stilled.
Collin had had enough.
“Hey, can I get an explanation as to what is going on?”
“No, not now”, he turned towards one of the researchers. “Has that happened before?”
“N-No, sir, that’s the first verbal contact we-we’ve had,” the man stuttered.
“Well,” the man in front of Collin turned towards him again. “It looks like we have something special going on. Arrange for him to enter the cell”.
“W-What!? It’s too early for that. We have no idea how she would react, or the safety-“ exclaimed the researcher.
Collin had to say something.
“SOMEBODY EXPLAIN SOMETHING TO ME PLEASE!!!” To have this much thrown at him in under the span of five minutes was too much.
Everyone turned to look at him.
“Sorry. Look, I’ll run your tests and be part of whatever you’re doing here, but I want somebody to explain what it is exactly what you intend to do with that girl and me as well!”
The man turned towards another researcher.
“Does that sound fair? Should we tell Collin what is going on?”
The researcher smiled.
“That sounds fair. We need them to speak to each other right? Let her explain”.
The man smiled back and without warning, Collin got a close up of a fist rushing in to meet him.

Collin woke with a start. He appeared to be stuck in a plain white padded room.
(Oh no...)
He sat up, and immediately crashed into the face of a young girl. Apparently she had been watching him.
She covered her face with both hands, but made no noise and slinked away to her corner.
“Hey, I’m sorry, I-“
She was smiling. Just sitting there, as the beginnings of a bloody nose we’re starting to show, she was smiling.
Collin could tell something was off. What was with this girl? She had to be what? 7? 8? A kid her age would have been crying their eyes out after being hit like that.
The girl was what he guessed to be the average height for a girl her age. She wore a white smock, that almost looked like a lab coat. It was obviously too large for her, almost comically so. She had shoulder length black hair, and large blue eyes. She stared at him with that same smile. It unnerved him that she was this happy in their situation.
The room was surely the cell Collin had seen earlier. One wall was completely covered by a metal sheet, and this appeared to be the same padded room as before.
Suddenly, a voice came over a speaker.
“Please try and refrain from striking the subject. Pain doesn’t lead to any results, and that is why you are here”.
Collin looked at the girl and found that she had covered her ears when the speaker came on.
So, these... people... had hurt her before? It scared Collin that after working with them for a year, he still didn’t know who they were or what they did.
“What have they been doing to you?”
Collin whispered.
Collin inspected the room and found that what he had seen earlier was correct. It seemed to be designed for a girl her age, with a table, crayons and paper being supplied. Besides that, this room was seriously lacking. There was no other furnitures besides the pile of blankets that the girl was resting on, and the table. The lights overhead were dim, so as not to hurt the eyes, but not to the point that they created shadows.
What kind of cell was this?
So many questions and no answers.
“What am I supposed to do?!”
This question was more aimed at himself than the speaker, but it got their attention.
“Results, we are looking for results.”
Results. What does that mean?
He guessed that they needed variables to be filled. It was the only thing he could think of doing at the moment. Did he need to talk to her? Get her to talk? He remembered that they said that she hadn’t spoken before.
Collin approached the girl. She looked at him hesitantly, bu started to smile again.
“What’s your name?”
She apparently understood the question, and stood up at a speed he couldn’t believe she could possess. She jumped and spun in midair and pointed to a word on the back of the coat she wore.
“Child. That can’t be your name”.
She nodded vigorously as she spun back around. She seemed a little to ecstatic for someone her age.
“Child? Really? Who named you?”
She pointed to herself smiled.
“Do you have parents? Relatives? Anyone at all?”
She pointed at Collin and he suddenly remembered.
“Oh... Oh that’s right. If he was telling the truth, then you’re my... sister”.
She looked at him blankly then abruptly turned away towards her table. She sat down on the small stool and grabbed several of the available crayons and began to... scribble furiously on a sheet of paper. When she had apparently finished, she held up the paper to Collin. Collin was astonished to find that what was on the paper was a perfectly drawn picture of him, almost to the likeness of a photograph.
“What the... How... How did you do that?!”
She smiled and began to work on another drawing.
“Hey... Child. How long have you been here?”
She paused and held up seven fingers, the shrugged. She hurriedly went back to drawing and when finished, showed Collin a picture of a man that perfectly resembled the man that had punched him.
“Do... Do you know who that is?”
She shook her head vigorously. She was gonna give herself a headache if she kept doing that.
“Hey, can I call you by a different name? I don’t exactly feel comfortable with calling you Child”.
Her expression immediately turned dark and she frowned at him.
“Ok, ok. Child is fine”.
Child got up from the stool and placed her two finished drawings in an empty tray on the table.
Collin kept having the thought come up, so he decided to ask one more question.
“Why are you here”.
With this question, Child spin around and gave Collin a blank look. This look turned into one of joy as, two, 10 ft. long wings sprouted from her back and flapped once.
Collin fell back against a wall in shock and fear. Wings? He had never seen anything like this before, but he felt like he knew he should be afraid.
“What the hell? Hey! Somebody, get me out of here!”
The speaker clicked on again.
“What is it, what are you seeing?”
“Can’t you see them? Wings! She has wings growing out of her back!”
“... This could be a problem. We can’t see what you see Collin. This is why we sent you in there, and not any other guard. We’ll have this resolved shortly”.
The speaker clicked and a high, piercing noise came through.
Child immediately covered her ears
and crumpled over.
Collin back crawled to a corner of the room opposite the girl. He did not move from that spot until sleep overcame him as his eyesight did not leave the girl for any moment.

Collin woke with a small headache. The lights in the cell had apparently been turned off, as the cell was near pitch black. Now, Collin wasn’t someone who was afraid of the dark, but after what he just saw, he wasn’t ready to stay there much longer.
“I’m sorry...” a voice whispered out of the darkness. It sounded as if the speaker was on the verge of tears.
“Is- Is that you, Child?”
Silence. Collin took that to mean a yes.
“Look, I’m sorry of how I reacted to... you. Please don’t cry”.
“You’re scared...” the voice came from his right. It definitely belonged to the young girl. Collin heard a sob.
“Hey, hey! I said I was sorry. I’m just... (sigh) I am scared. What the heck are you?”
Child burst into tears from somewhere to his left. When did she move? He hadn’t heard anything. Her sobs continued for what must have been an hour as Collin helplessly listened.
—————————————————
Child was finally asleep. He could hear her breathing growing even as the crying halted.
Collin felt terrible. Why did he react the way he did? Was he that scared of the unknown? It almost felt as if he knew the fear, but he obviously didn’t know what she was.
Collin felt as if he had a bond with her even though he barely knew her.
The weight of his actions weighed on him as he fell into yet another deep sleep.

Collin woke to a small hand shaking him awake. As soon as he was able to open his eyes, Collin was greeted by Child holding a small doll up to his eyes. Collin instinctively crawled along the wall away from her.
Child hesitated, and withdrew her outstretched hand.
“Ah, shoot. Hey, I’m tired of apologizing so much. I’m sorry. What’s that you got there?”
Child looked at him with a face that was impossible to read, but she approached and handed him the doll.
Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be made of straw, but it obviously wasn’t straw. It was gray, and had small indentions where the eyes should be and near the shoulder blades of the doll.
“Where did you get this?”
Child pointed towards the floor near the metal wall.
“You got it from there? From them?”
Child nodded. Her blank look revealed nothing of how she was feeling. Collin really hoped he hadn’t hurt her feelings that badly.
(Sorry if this was a little long. I had too much time on my hands, and nobody to talk to. I lacked in the editing department. I have no idea why I finished this faster than the other one. Also, this is a short story, so I’m only adding one more part to wrap this up. Thanks for the continued support!)
