Harry potter: A History through magic 1-4
Harry potter: A History through magic 1-4
From the British Library I read the books out of order. Did not realize they were numbered. Book 3 was read first, but it doesn’t matter what order you read them in. They are not a story that continues. I thought or maybe more hoped that they would be some sort of school text books. NO… but In a sense I guess so. I haven’t looked anything up mentioned in the books as to Authors of say the first…

Erda (894) ~ Past life recollection, South node energy, the ability to see into the past. This asteroid is similar to Urda (167).
Circe (34) ~ Your magickal gifts, Where/How you isolate yourself to practice your craft. Your striking, and special qaulities. (This can show working with plants, and herbs!; I have this in my 12H, and it sits to close to my ASC.)
Magion (2696) ~ The Magician/ Mystic; One who knows how to work with magic. Depending of the sign can show what type of magic you're skilled in. For those of you who practice any kind of magic consistently, I recommend checking the Persona Chart for this asteroid!
Celestia (10) ~ Heavenly one, connection to the cosmos / most high. Angel energy, and may have the gift of divine insight, and cosmic downloads. Keeper of cosmic wisdom. This asteroid somewhat reminds of the asteroid Akasha (5881).
Merlin (2598) ~ The Echantress/ Magician; Occcult Wisdom, Warrior energy, alchemy, majestic energies
Hypnos (14827) ~ The gift of dream sight, prophetic messages through dreams, the ability to Astral project. Dream magic/ Astral projection may be a very strong gift for you. If you have this in the 1st house please protect your energy. Most of the time these natives have very strong dreams. (I have this in my 1st house, and my dreams have always been very intense, and prophetic.)

Cassandra (114) ~ The Seer; This asteroid represents intuitive abilities, and the gift of foresight. The saying for this asteroid is literally, "The one who goes unheard". Cassandra was a Greek priestess who worked under the God "Apollo". She had the ability to provide prophetic messages. This was very useful in Greek history. If you have this in the 1st or 10th house this could manifest as you having very strong and potent prophetic abilities but people may not believe you until it happens.
Telephus (5264) ~ Telepathy, the gift to connect to others minds, and break into the subconscious or conscious mind of others. The ability to know what others are thinking. Gifts with telekinesis. This can be a very great gift to have!
Anubis (1912)~ Necromancer, this reminds me of the death card. The gift of possessing very ancient knowledge of alchemy, you could easily work with chaos or dark energy. Transmuter energy.

Future Plans
(18+, Explicit) Kinktober 2023 Day 8 Breeding
“I’m thinking these with the pork we just got would be good for dinner tonight,” Gale said over his shoulder as he held up an apple, rolling it over in his hand to inspect it.
Of course, it was then that he realized Tav wasn’t actually behind any longer, which would explain the odd look the merchant was giving him. He sighed heavily and turned to scan the area. She was easily found not far down the road, interestingly there was a small swarm of children standing around her watching as she tossed a ball in the air before catching it, where it then seemingly vanish.
It was an odd quirk of hers, collecting children as one might plants or stones. He’d noticed it not long after they met when she’d somehow befriended just about every Tiefling child in the grove. It continued on through every phase of their journey. He wasn’t sure what it was about her that drew children in, there were any number of admirable traits she possessed that were capable of that.
He made his way to her, apples forgotten.
As he approached, she caught his eye and grinned. With a bow, she pulled the ball out of wherever she’d hidden it. The children laughed, some clapped. When she handed the toy back to one of them a few made sad noises but otherwise didn’t interfere with her weaving her way out of the crowd she’d drawn.
A vision of her pregnant swam into Gale’s vision and left him with a strange sense of wistfulness.
“Sorry,” Tav told him, smiling.
“You do always seem to amaze the children,” Gale told her, this time catching her hand in his to prevent any further wandering.
“Of course,” she agreed, tugging on his hand so she could lean over and peer at one of the many vendors lining the road, “children love magic.”
“And I’m sure you’re aware that that isn’t-”
“Have you,” Tav said turning to Gale abruptly, reaching up to tap his nose with a finger, “considered being fun?”
Gale rolled his eyes but couldn’t fight the smile that pulled at his lips. “I am quite fun,” he argued.
Tav merely laughed at him.
It was an image he couldn’t shake, even days later. Gale found himself thinking of it, Tav pregnant, in the oddest moments. Found himself lingering inside her a while longer than normal after they made love. It was silly the way the thought of her becoming pregnant almost spurred him on for round two.
They’d talked about kids in the past and there would no doubt be at least one future Dekarios. The time was not now, though; their wedding wasn’t so far off, and they were busy planning the trip they’d take after. They both wanted an adventure, just the two of them, and with lower stakes than their initial one. So Tav getting pregnant right now would be poor timing all around.
So why did the idea stick with him?
“What is going on inside your head right now?” Tav asked from across the room. She was watching Gale through the mirror of her vanity as she got ready for bed.
Gale let the book he’d been meaning to read drop into his lap fully. “Not whatever this it,” he admitted and looked down to see exactly which book he’d dragged into their room. A Brief History of Undermountain. Well then, he didn’t feel so bad, this would only be the fourth time he’d read the book.
“But?” Tav prompted as she stood and made her way across the room. Instead of walking to her side she came and stood by him.
Gale peered up at her as he closed the forgotten book. She took it from his lap, peered down at the title, and discarded it on the dresser.
“You.” He said in half-truth.
Tav climbed onto him then, sitting so her knees were bracketing his hips and she was facing him. “As flattered as I am that’s not it.”
Gale sighed. “Children of all things,” he admitted.
“Changing your mind?” Tav asked, her eyes roaming over his face.
He shook his head. “No, just the thought that I would very much like to put our child in you.”
Tav smiled sweetly, her hand coming up to cup his cheek. “Gale…” she began
He pressed his own hand to hers. “I know, not now.” He agreed. “But you must admit it paints a stirring image. The merging of ourselves to create something entirely new.”
“Yes,” she agreed, “I, for one, cannot wait to deal with my own child summoning creatures into the house.”
Gale growled playfully and turned to nip at her palm. Tav laughed and tried to wrestle her hand away but he firmly caught it in his own. He licked a line up her palm, causing her to shriek and try to wiggle away.
Swiftly, he grabbed hold of her waist and flipped them. Tav was now laying on her back, blanket trapped between them. She blinked up at him in response to the sudden movement.
“Maybe it’s just the idea of all the sex we’ll have that you want,” her tone was teasing. She dragged her foot along his thigh before hooking her leg at his back.
Gale allowed himself to be pulled against her, dropping his head down to press a kiss to her throat. “I very much like the idea of filling you daily until we get our babe out of it,” he said against the skin of Tav’s neck.
“Oh,” she dragged out the word, not unaffected by the image Gale was painting.
“Every day, until we’re successful,” he pressed a kiss between every word as if to make a point.
Tav’s hips ground against his. “Sounds like a lot of work,” she breathed.
“Maybe we should practice,” Gale suggested and reached between them to pull the blanket out.
Tav laughed and shifted around to make his task easier. “I think that is a fine idea,” she said when he finally succeeded.
Gale leaned up and captured her lips with his. She was eager to return the kiss, hands moving to his shoulders simply to hold him there. He rolled his hips against hers and she gasped. He took advantage of the moment and licked his way into her mouth, hips rocking against her all the while.
He ran his hand down her thigh moving the fabric of her nightgown out of the way as he did. Gale laughed, breaking their kiss to press a series of smaller kisses against the side of her mouth. There was nothing more between them then the thin material of her nightgown and he own clothes.
“Hoping for something?” He teased, scraping the blunt edges of his nails against the flesh of Tav’s exposed hip.
She grinned. “A girl can hope.”
It was easy enough to slide the rest of the material up, pooling it around her middle, leaving Tav blissfully naked from the waist down.
Gale sat up on his knees, her leg falling back to the bed, to admire the sight for a moment. She was beautiful beneath him. Tav was always beautiful to him he had to admit. He’d loved her in the heat of battle and he loved her now in the soft quiet of their bedroom. Gale watched her a few moments longer until she squirmed and looked away from him.
“I am beyond lucky,” He murmured and worked to remove his clothes, the final barriers between them.
Once Gale was naked, he laid back down between her legs. Tav turned her head back and looked up at him. She then pressed up for a kiss as he leaned over her, one he willingly gave.
A small shift and he slotted himself between her folds. Gale was normally one to pull at least one orgasm from his partner before getting to the main event, so to speak. Tonight was different though, he needed to be inside of her. Soon, preferably.
Tav seemed to sense his need and drew her leg around him, encouraging him.
Ever happy to oblige Gale slowly pressed himself into her. He happily realized she was wet enough that there was no need to disentangle themselves to add oil. Tav was urging him forward, gently squeezing her leg against his thighs. Gale had no desire to rush, simply pushing forward until he bottomed out and then not moving. He showered soft kisses across Tav’s jaw, trailing down as far as he could comfortably go until reaching her collarbone.
Only once she was squirming did he slowly pull out again, until just the tip of his cock was left buried in her. Only to just slowly begin the same movements over again.
In a testament to Tav’s patience she allowed him to repeat this same excruciatingly slow roll twice more before growling in frustration. Gale hung in head in an effort to hide the grin he wore at the situation but the way her heel dug into his backside told him she knew.
Swiftly she pushed on his shoulders and twisted her hips to roll them over. Gale allowed himself to be moved onto his back, managing to keep from pulling out of her throughout the whole movement. Once she was seated comfortably atop him, Tav smiled down, pleased with herself. His hands came to rest on her hips.
Despite her previous frustrations, the roll of Tav’s hips started slow. He was happy to watch and allow her to do whatever she wished. Gradually, she began moving earnestly. Picking up speed and lifting herself up just enough to slip back down. Gale waited for her to find a rhythm before beginning to roll himself up to her.
It wouldn’t be enough for him, and likely she knew that. Gale didn’t try and change her movements at all. Sweet little moans were punched from Tav’s lips each time she allowed him to bottom out inside of her. Her head was tilted back, a flush dragging down her neck to her chest. He loved watching her chase after her pleasure and would have been content to lie there for hours letting her use him like that.
Tav leaned forward, one hand braced on his chest and tried to spread her thighs impossibly more. Gale knew what she wanted and allowed his hand to travel to where they joined. Gently he slid his thumb to her clit, Tav cried out at the first brush against it. Her cries devolved into low moans as he continued to rub circles against the bundle of nerves.
Gale braced his heels against the bed, free hand holding Tav’s hip firmer, and began thrusting up into her. Her nails raked against his chest as she flexed her hand in and out of a fist, seemingly unaware of the red scratches she was carving into him. He didn’t mind, welcomed it even.
“Gale,” she whined.
Nothing further followed but he knew what she needed. He circled his thumb faster on her clit, hips thrusting in time to meet every drop of hers. He felt her cunt begin to flutter around him as she cried out again.
Gale quickly rolled them so Tav was on her back again. His thrust were sporadic lacking any kind of finess as he fucked her through her orgasm. She was gripping his shoulders, nails digging in as she writhed against him. Greedily he began chasing his own release.
It didn’t take long, Tav’s sweet noises and the feel of her aftershocks squeezing around him pushing Gale over the edge not long after her. He pinned their hips together as he spilled deep inside of her, unable to keep from doing that even now. She rolled languidly against him.
“I love you,” Gale murmured and pressed a kiss against her shoulder.
He sat up, slowly allowing himself to pull from inside of her.
“And I love you,” Tav answered, watching him from beneath heavily lidded eyes.
Gale glanced down and watched as a small amount of cum slowly began leaking from inside of her. He didn’t think, mere pressed his thumb against it and slowly pressed it back into Tav.
She snorted. “I think there may be something wrong with you,” her tone was light and he took no offense.
Instead Gale pressed the pad of his thumb into her further, keeping anymore of his spend from leaking out.

i never realised just how much tgb had changed how i thought about the characters (mostly vee) until yesterday when i was re-looking over my toh fan-art. You wrote them so well that i forgot that it wasnt all in the show. like how vee and gus weren't shown to being best friends, vee never got to be angry/shocked by hunter or just willow still holding a little grudge against amity. They are just cool details and im so clad they were added! ps your great
Thank you! Wow that's very flattering! I'm glad you are enjoying it!
Tumblr media
I really like Vee, and the more I think about the gang's time in the human-realm, the more I sit back in my chair and think "Ah man, these arcs are really necessary and interesting though.."
Vee also holds a lot of plot, as a basilisk. We can speculate what the reason is that they were extinct, for example (grimwalkers were extinct too).
Wat I really enjoy about TOH's characters are how easily and smoothly they weave into each other's themes and arcs. Their personalities and histories makes them all perfect friends to both build them up and break them down. It's a chefs kiss.
Vee is no different! The set-up for her character was perfectly slotted in to what the other characters needed for their time in the human-realm. And the theme I think the human-realm was supposed to embody.
The demon-realm arc for Luz was a hero's journey, but because of the foil of the trope, and that the point was that: there is no hero/chosen one actually, and the rebels didn't make it in time like in the books, and just because it's a different realm it didn't mean Luz could escape - escapism is temporary.
Dana has said grief and hope are core elements of the story, and she chose to tell it through a foiled trope of being chosen/hero's journey, layered with a religious trauma lens.
To me, looking at Luz as the main character, means looking at her as a nerdy girl in need of escapism, wanting to find purpose, and avoiding her emotions about her dad's passing.
The return to human-realm would be, for Luz, a turning point where TOH turns from being about a hero's journey and a journey about the steps of grief and healing - at the end of it, she will find the light.
Vee, to me, is kind of like a new take on the guide character. She is not a guide, in the sense that she has all the answers, but rather all the truths.
She was right when she told Luz she had everything and still chose to run away. They're not the same. Vee is also a lot better than Luz at being normal and fitting in, something Luz has been playing off and avoiding facing. Luz sees herself as being different as a bad thing, she tried to run away to a place where "weird" was normal and that didn't work out. Now she's back home and feels that it's all her fault bad things happened, because she is herself. And the person she is is different. And different didn't mean special, just different. Of course she's depressed.
The same is true for all the other characters. Vee gets to reflect their truths too, simply by being crafted, narratively, into being the guide.
Hunter gets to face his actions as the GG, come to terms with the nuances of his bad actions, whatever reason he committed what he did. Find forgiveness not just from Vee but himself too. He gets to start over, just like her. She shows him it's possible.
Gus gets someone to share his dream with, his love and enthusiasm for the human realm. A place that Vee feels is more home than where she came from. Gus gets to grow as a person, both morally and intelligently. As does Vee, she gets somebody who shows her that she doesn't just have to be a refugee, she can have a purpose here. She can be an ambassador.
Willow was set up to have an arc where she mistook her newfound magical and physical strengths (she is working out a lot in canon after she changed track), for inner strengths. Willow is a sensitive girl, and a bit of a berserk (I mean she was willing to burn her own mind just to hurt Amity). Willow having to face Vee, who isn't physically stronger than her but is significantly further down the road of being internally strong, is something Willow can learn from. Perhaps even have conflict with! (but more so a conflict with herself than with Vee, really.)
With Amity, Vee has a simpler role. I think to Amity it's more so showing that it's possible to live in the human realm, and giving her hope that going back and forth is a future for everyone who wishes to do so. Creatively speaking, I think Amity and Vee more so to bounce off one another for the plot, rather than character growth or decline.
Camila, I think, is the most interesting. Because she has now spent approximately a year with Vee, half of it thinking she was Luz and having feelings about her daughter having changed so much, the line "I'm glad youre still creative" comes to mind. As well as the terror of losing Luz again. But also, because she has had her own unseen arc and development with Vee, and them having bonded into a foster family that we never got to see glimpses of, it goes without saying that Camila has already done the internal work to take on more kids if that's necessary. I think she saw these kids by her door and thought "yep. They're mine now too." Vee, I think, is interesting to toss into the family dynamic between Luz and Camila, who seemingly are misunderstanding one another significantly. Vee sees them both, and can be a voice of reason when it comes to it. Or if it would come to it.
ANYWAY MY RANTS ARE LONG. IM DONE. THANKS FOR READING.

My Opinion on the LU Boys DND Classes
Tumblr media
as a DM of 3 years and a enjoyer of dnd for MUCH LONGER, i have so sososos many thoughts on what classes the boys would be. This will also include subclasses CAUSE ITS MY POST AND IMMA DO WHAT I WANT! /LH SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG!!!!
Time -> Fighter, Eldritch Knight
Twilight -> Barbarian, Path of the Ancestral Guardian
Warriors -> Fighter, Battle Master
Sky -> Paladin, Oath of Devotion
Wild -> Ranger, Gloomstalker
Legend -> Wizard, Bladesinging
Hyrule -> Warlock, The Celestial
Four -> Fighter, Echo Knight
Wind -> Rogue, Swashbuckler
Taglist cause I know somepeople were interested! @catreginae @next-hero-in-line @unexpectedstormy @nancyheart11 @majorproblems77 @ladye-zelda @ajscico @mishwanders @violetregrets1837 @1dragon-mustard1
Under the cut will be explanations as to why i picked these classes! (as well as the official descriptions of the subclasses for context)
Time, The Eldritch Knight
Subclass Description; They focus their study on two of the eight schools of magic: abjuration and evocation. Abjuration spells grant an Eldritch Knight additional protection in battle, and evocation spells deal damage to many foes at once, extending the fighter's reach in combat. These knights learn a comparatively small number of spells, committing them to memory instead of keeping them in a spellbook.
--
Fighter is a go to for all the boys, but I think Time is a perfect fit for the class as he is shown time and time again to be a frontline fighter. He's quick to draw his sword and quicker to swing it.
Though Time is not a heavy magic user in the LU comics, he is known to have quite a few spells/magical abilities in his games and comics! Many of these abilities are defensive or to deal with large 'groups' of enemies at once, which is what Abjuration and Evocation spells are used for -respectively. The Class is still heavily rooted in melee rather than magic -like Time- but the magic they do use is to add a extra kick to their punch.
There are also abilities that make the Eldritch knight much harder (if not impossible) to disarm!
In higher levels, the subclasses allows the user to be more effective and quick with their spell casting who their actions are free for melee attacks, which would be a perfect fit for the quick and preciseness Time uses in battle.
Twilight, The Barbarian of Ancestral Guardians
Subclass description; Some barbarians hail from cultures that revere their ancestors. These tribes teach that the warriors of the past linger in the world as mighty spirits, who can guide and protect the living. When a barbarian who follows this path rages, the barbarian contacts the spirit world and calls on these guardian spirits for aid.
--
Barbarian is a common pick for Twilight as it is the most strength based class and while I agree with it always never quite sat right with me due to the violence the class is stereotyped to lean towards.
The subclass itself was picked because I connected it with not only the Hero's Shade but also the light spirits that Twilight encounters on his journey. Its very much a spirit heavy class that deals with a lot of themes regarding 'guardian' like figures which fit perfectly for the 'guardian' spirits Twilight runs into -and is trained by- during his adventure. I also choose this one because of how defensive it is, especially when it comes to protecting others!
Twilight is a protector, in the LU comics, in his games, in his manga, he is shown time and time again to protect others so to have a subclass to reflect his protective nature is a perfect match for his character!
Warriors, the Battle Master
Subclass Description; Those who emulate the archetypal Battle Master employ martial techniques passed down through generations. To a Battle Master, combat is an academic field, sometimes including subjects beyond battle such as weaponsmithing and calligraphy. Not every fighter absorbs the lessons of history, theory, and artistry that are reflected in the Battle Master archetype, but those who do are well-rounded fighters of great skill and knowledge.
--
Another fighter! Like I said for Time, this class is very much a 'go-to' class for any and all of the LU boys! But warriors fits so well for this class, a undeterred and seemingly never ending energy in a fight, Fighter fits perfectly!
I think that we all can agree that Warriors is one of the top 3 swordsmen in the group, his way with his sword is unlike the others as he holds an elegance and swiftness that can be rivalled by very few. The Battle Master subclass is built upon the idea of 'Yeah, you can try to hit me but get ready for your shit to get rocked.' It is about countering, using the enemies weaknesses to your gain and getting your hits in whenever you can.
A Captain in a war would be a battle master without a doubt!
Sky, Paladin of Devotion
Subclass description; --They hold themselves to the highest standards of conduct, and some, for better or worse, hold the rest of the world to the same standards. Many who swear this oath are devoted to gods of law and good and use their gods' tenets as the measure of their devotion. They hold angels – the perfect servants of good – as their ideals, and incorporate images of angelic wings into their helmets or coats of arms.
--
Is...Is this a surprise to anyone? A little cliche yes, but how can you blame me when it suits him so well!
First, Divine smite? PERFECT for the Skyward Strike, without a doubt and I don't think theres anything that could fit it so well! A mighty strike blessed with divine power and -depending on what spell/ability- can shed a great amount of light and cause lightning/thunder to burst from the strike! There is also abilities with the subclass that makes your weapon a beacon of light for a short period of time
Sky is devoted to many things. But its obvious hes devoted to his Zelda -the reincarnation of Hyila, a goddess- so much so that before he knew of her divine spirit he was willing to head into a world unknown just to look for her. He is so devoted to her and Skyloft that he fought a GOD to keep everyone he loved safe and sound.
Wild, The Gloom Stalker
Subclass description; Gloom stalkers are at home in the darkest places: deep under the earth, in gloomy alleyways, in primeval forests, and wherever else the light dims. Most folk enter such places with trepidation, but a gloom stalker ventures boldly into the darkness, seeking to ambush threats before they can reach the broader world.--
--
Since TOTK I feel like this would be fitting for the hero to be proficient in fighting in the darken places of the world. The name of the subclass is also suits him considering a huge part of the game -The Gloom- is apart of this class in a way.
Ranger is a great class for Wild, it is the definition of a hunter, an explorer, one that finds there own path in the wildness. Wild, though seen to get lost in the comics, has a great understanding of his Hyrule and its geographic locations and terrain, both surface and depths. He is also a great archer, and a even better hunter!
The hero is a survivor of the wilds, and Rangers are the best suited to do such a thing
Legend, The BladeSinger
Subclass Description: Bladesingers master a tradition of wizardry that incorporates swordplay and dance. In combat, a bladesinger uses a series of intricate, elegant maneuvers that fend off harm and allow the bladesinger to channel magic into devastating attacks and a cunning defense.
----
Legend is one of the more magically inclined Heros, and though thats mostly through his artifacts and magic items that doesn’t take away the fact that the hero has a broad knowledge when it came to magic.
I picked bladesinging specifically because while it’s main focus is magic it still uses the sword and it’s connection to ones-self. Legend is still a fighter at heart so i don’t think he would toss away those skills in this situation. He is shown in a few panels to have some sort of connection/bond to the mastersword and likely his own weapon, so it was important for me to somehow intertwine his two biggest skills together.
And a bit selfishly, i think he would look very very cool dancing around with his sword-
Hyrule, The Holy Warlock
Subclass description: Your patron is a powerful being of the Upper Planes. You have bound yourself to an ancient empyrean, solar, ki-rin, unicorn, or other entity that resides in the planes of everlasting bliss.
---
I know most people would make Hyrule either a wizard or nature based magic user but in all fairness, I dont think Hyrule is one to learn magic by the traditional means (reading/studying it). This isn’t to say the kid isn’t capable of doing so, but with the whole “hero of Hyila,” you’d think there would be a bit more a divine connection there.
Warlocks make deals, pacts, with some sort of higher being for their magic intentionally or not and Hyila ,a holy celestial, being fits perfectly to be his patron. The magic granted to a celestial warlock is based on a clerics abilities, healing, protecting from the undead and fiends, lighting a path etc. Warlocks also are also a little more focused on melee/combat and if picking the right pact boon, can have a special relationship/connect to their sword!
Four, The Echo Knight
Subclass description: Echo knights harness fading shades of unrealized timelines, pulling a shadowy duplicate of themself called an "echo" to fight by their side. The echoes are somewhat fragile, but the echo knight can summon another at any time.
--
Okayokayokay— HEAR ME OUT ON THIS ONE!!!
One of the echo knight’s main abilities is being able to make shadowy versions of themselves to fight alongside them in a battle. These shadows or ‘echoes’ are an extension of the person’s form/soul and are able to communicate and aid the original knight. They are able to project their consciousness into these shadows to get the information they have seen/witness and collects it all once they all fuse back together.
TELL ME THAT AINT PERFECT FOR FOUR!!!
Wind, The Swashbuckler
Subclass Description: You focus your training on the art of the blade, relying on speed, elegance, and charm in equal parts. While some warriors are brutes clad in heavy armor, your method of fighting looks almost like a performance. Duelists and pirates typically belong to this archetype. A Swashbuckler excels in single combat, and can fight with two weapons while safely darting away from an opponent.
--
….i feel like this is pretty straightforward as to why i picked this for Wind.
Wind, shown to be quite a sneaky Link in his games, is probably the most rogue like in the Chain. He’s a strong kid, but he specializes in quick strikes and keeping his opponents on their toes and unexpecting. He is also, very clearly, a pirate! So it isn’t surprising for the hero to have one of (if not the only) pirate theme-d subclass! The class is very agile, but the subclass specifically is focused on disarming, ‘backstabbing’ and overall being sneaky in plain sight!
And thought i do think this is a great fit for the hero, i could also see him as a Storm sorcerer, which was my second pick!
UHHHH! YEAH THATS IS! if you're reading this, thank you so much for listening to me ramble and if you have any ideas/thoughts of your own i would LOVE to hear them!!!

How to Write Sci-Fi Fantasy Books: Short Guide For Writers
Writing sci-fi fantasy books is an exciting journey into the world of imagination. It offers the author an opportunity to create new worlds, explore futuristic technologies, and delve into the complexities of magical systems. This blog post will guide you through the process of writing a compelling sci-fi fantasy book and help you avoid common pitfalls along the way.
Establish Your World
Your world is the stage on which your story unfolds. It needs to be richly detailed and logically consistent to make your readers believe in its existence. Start by defining the physical characteristics of your world, its history, culture, and societal norms. You can build your world from scratch or you can base it on existing real-world or fictional cultures. Remember, the world you create should serve your story and not the other way around.
Develop Your Characters
Characters are the heart of your story. They are the ones who make your readers care about what happens in your world. Your characters should be well-rounded, with their own strengths, weaknesses, hopes, and fears. You should know your characters inside out, including their backstories, even if it's not all revealed in the book. Also, remember that your characters don't have to be human. They can be aliens, magical beings, or sentient robots, to name a few.
Craft Your Plot
Your plot is the sequence of events that make up your story. It should be engaging, with conflicts and resolutions that keep your readers on the edge of their seats. Your plot should also be tightly woven with your world and characters. For instance, the challenges your characters face should be a direct result of the world you've created, and their actions and decisions should drive the plot forward. Also, don't forget to incorporate elements unique to the sci-fi and fantasy genres, such as advanced technology or magic.
Writing a sci-fi fantasy book is no easy task, but with careful planning and execution, it can be a rewarding experience. Remember to establish a solid world, develop compelling characters, and craft an engaging plot. Allow your imagination to soar, but also keep the rules of your world consistent. Lastly, enjoy the process and take pride in the unique world you've created. Happy writing!

Let's talk about writing fantasy.
Fantasy is one of my favourite genres, to read and to write. But the worldbuilding required and the existing tropes can make it difficult to craft a unique, compelling novel. There are a number of less-discussed nuances that might not always be at the forefront of writing discussions. Here are some tips to help you out:
Ground it in reality: Even though fantasy allows for boundless imagination, grounding your world in elements familiar to readers can make it more relatable and believable. Making it too otherworldly can make it difficult to understand or follow, and will likely make it much more difficult to interweave the explanation of your world and its society into the text seamlessly.
Consistency is key: Fantasy worlds can be complex, with their own rules, magic systems, and histories. Ensure consistency in your worldbuilding, avoiding contradictions or sudden changes without explanation. I find it helpful to keep a world bible or notes to track details and maintain coherence throughout the story.
Character-driven plots: While epic battles and magical quests are exciting, don't forget that compelling characters drive the heart of any story. Develop multi-dimensional characters with strengths, weaknesses, and personal arcs that resonate with readers (see my post on character development for more).
Avoid clichés and stereotypes: Fantasy often draws from familiar tropes and archetypes, but try not to rely on them too heavily. Subvert expectations and breathe new life into old conventions by adding unique twists or exploring lesser-known mythologies and cultures. Make it your own!
Magic has consequences: Magic adds wonder to fantasy worlds, but it should also have limitations and consequences. Consider the societal, environmental, and personal impacts of magic on your world and characters. A well-defined magic system can enhance the depth and realism of your story.
Worldbuilding through storytelling: Instead of dumping large chunks of exposition, reveal your fantasy world gradually through character interactions, dialogue, and plot progression. Show, don't tell, and let readers piece together the intricacies of your world as they journey through your story (check out my previous post on worldbuilding for more tips).
Embrace diversity: Fantasy worlds should reflect the diversity of our own world. Include characters from various backgrounds, cultures, and identities, and explore themes of inclusivity and acceptance within your narrative.
Conflict beyond good vs. evil: While the battle between good and evil is a classic fantasy trope, consider adding layers of moral ambiguity and complexity to your conflicts. Explore themes of power, redemption, and the consequences of choices made in the face of adversity.
Research is essential: Even in a world of imagination, research plays a crucial role in grounding your story in reality. Whether it's drawing inspiration from historical events, cultural practices, or scientific principles, thorough research can enrich your worldbuilding and add depth to your narrative. Even fantasy worlds and elements require some sort of basis to make them more believable.
Revise: Like any genre, writing fantasy requires extensive revision and polishing. Be prepared to revise your manuscript multiple times, seeking feedback from beta readers or critique partners to strengthen your story, characters, and worldbuilding.
Happy writing!

Hob Gadling - A Queer Romantic?
I have been listening to The World's End chapters of The Sandman on Audible lately and just finished Hob's Leviathan. I didn't pay this story much attention when I first read the comic, as I tended to read through the stories quickly and put more focus into the stories where Dream had a larger role. But one of the reasons I like listening to the Audible book is because it allows me to absorb each story more thoroughly and take my time thinking about each one and the (usually multiple) meanings behind them.
Hob Gadling is a character that fandom has fallen in love with. I think this is clear to anyone that takes even a partial glance at Sandman fandom. This isn't a criticism - Ferdie's performance as Hob in the Netflix show has done wonders for Hob's character. He has made his version of Hob very easy to fall in love with!
But the truth is that in The Sandman comics, Hob is a minor character who we only get to know very little about. The story Hob's Leviathan appears in The Worlds End Sandman book. We only meet him twice before this, once in The Doll's House, where we are introduced to him in Men of Good Fortune, and again in Season of Mists when Dream comes to let him know that he may miss their next meeting. In both these issues, Hob is introduced via the narrator, and therefore I like to think that we are given a fairly honest representation of the kind of person he is. We watch him grow and learn throughout the centuries in MoGF, but one of the major takeaways from this I believe is that he tends to always be on the wrong side of history. He makes bad choices and can be a bit narrow minded. He is rude and selfish and also rather self-absorbed. I actually think that the performance of the voice actor who plays Hob in the Audible book emphasises these character flaws making him even more unlikeable in many ways, though I am aware that this could just be my own experience and opinion.
But Hob's Leviathan takes a different view of Hob. Literally. The narrator of this story is a young boy of 16 called Jim. Jim met Hob on a ship travelling from Bombay to Liverpool in 1914. Jim was working on the ship as a cabin boy and Hob had bought his passage back to England - though it is revealled at the end of the story that Hob actually owned the ship they were travelling on. It is clear that at this point in time, Hob is extremely wealthy.
Jim attends to Hob throughout the journey, and grows very fond of him. In Jim's tale, Hob is a good man, who is kind and thoughtful and cares about others. He saves the life of a stowaway (who turns out to be another immortal). He is shown to be patient, and funny, and very intelligent. Jim waxes poetic about how smart Hob is, and how much he impressed him. It is particularly clear in the Audible book that Jim is taken with Hob, to the point that it could arguably be a crush.
It is fascinating how much more likeable Hob is when narrated from the viewpoint of someone with a crush on him, whether this story is exaggerated through rose tinted glasses is of course something to consider. All the tales in World's End are just that, tales. There is a constant undercurrent of exaggeration and make believe to them where even the other patrons of the inn question elements to each of the stories. We are not supposed to take these stories as absolute fact, rather they are supposed to reveal to us more about the narrators as well as their own experiences existing in this magical and strange world.
When it is revealled that Jim is actually a girl called Peggy in disguise so they can get work on the ships, the quite obvious crush makes more sense to a heteronormative audience, but what I particularly like about this story is its queer potential. See in the comic, it isn't really clarified if Jim goes by Jim because they feel more themselves as a boy, rather than a girl, or if they are disguising themself as a boy just to get work as a means to an end. I would argue that the latter is the more obvious interpretation. Jim tells the other World's End patrons that they are getting too old to keep up the disguise and will eventually have to stop working in shipping, and that when that happens, they will take on a new name, a new identity and do something else, but that for now, the patrons can keep calling them Jim.
*for a lack of clarity around the point in the comic, I am going to use gender neutral pronouns for Jim going forward*
Now from Hob's POV, he figured out that Jim was a girl, and they talk about it briefly along with the sea serpent they saw. I think that at this point, Hob is impressively progressive compared to the previous times we have met him. Now whether or not this is biased storytelling from someone who has a crush on him remains to be seen, but if we take Jim's word as truth, not only is 1914 Hob a fair and honest man who is willing to pay the way of a stowaway and fully respect the secrets of a young girl disguised as a boy so they can work on ships, but he's also totally comfortable flirting with them.
Tumblr media
I like that he calls Jim the "handsome cabin boy". I like that this version of Hob, whether real or an exaggeration skewed by Jim's feelings for him, respects Jim's identity. Jim may be a girl in disguise, but Hob doesnt call her pretty, he calls him handsome.
It's all just a bit subtly queer and I like that for Hob (But then I would do, I'm a Dreamling shipper HA)
When Jim finishes their story, they state that they didn't see Hob again after that, but the comics later do give us a possible outcome to Jim's story...
We next see Hob in The Kindly Ones where he is mourning the death of his girlfriend Audrey. He briefly reveals that Audrey was the first person he had loved since Peggy, who was his lover until her death during the Blitz. Whilst it isn't made clear that Hob's lover Peggy is the same Jim that we meet in World's End, it is a bit too much of a coincidence. The timing adds up. If Jim was 16 in 1914, they'd be in their early 40s during the Blitz. Hob remains forever in his early 30s so I'd say its a safe bet that Jim eventually found Hob again and they were together. Hob loved them enough that he wasn't with anyone again until Audrey in the 80s. That's 50 years worth of mourning. A long time not to be with anyone, even for an immortal.
It's funny because we know so little about Hob, but one thing that I have seen commented on here a lot is that comic Hob is deemed to be as Straight as an arrow. Now I admit that the voice actor in the Audible book plays him very straight, but that is still only one interpretation.
All this is to say that I am fascinated with how the Netflix show will adapt this, since Hob in the show already comes across much kinder and more selfless than his comic counterpart. He already has an entire fandom viewing him as queer, and the comics certainly don't outright shut down such interpretations. There are moments in the comics that you have to wonder on. He does call Jim handsome rather than pretty, and when he talks to Audrey's grave he mentions his wives and loves as separate groups. He talks about finding it easy to get sex if you want it, and he talks about it in generally gender neutral terms. In Sunday Mourning Gwen reveals that she thought he was gay when she first met him, though her reasonings were that he knew so many dead people (a dark reminder that these comics were published at the height of the Aids epidemic). He reacts very badly to the news of Morpheus' death. He states on several occassions just how much he liked Morpheus, and he is one of the few people to wake up from the Wake with tears running down his cheeks. I would arguably state that its between Hob and Matthew as to who had the worst reaction to Morpheus' death, showing just how much both Hob and Matthew cared about him, and placing Hob on par with Matthew in the comics is a big deal. He seriously considers accepting Death's gift when she offers it, simply because Morpheus is dead. He doesn't, because at the end of the day, its just not in his nature to do so, and given he then dreams of Morpheus, I like to think that it was a test, that he passed.
When it comes to how the show will adapt all this, I genuinely think it will take a new approach with Jim/Peggy. I think they will be either a trans man, or at least non binary. But I think having Jim be a trans man is the better option. In the comics, Jim's tale is only very subtly queer, Jim clearly likes being Jim, but it seems like its a means to an end, a convenience in order to get work on the ships, rather than being something that is core to Jim's feelings on their gender. Besides, if we assume that Jim is indeed the Peggy Hob talks about in The Kindly Ones, then we know that Jim goes back to being Peggy when they get older and apparently continues living as a woman whilst they are with Hob, otherwise I doubt Hob would have referred to one of his greatest loves by a name they themselves rejected and only used she/her pronouns when talking about them. Nevertheless there is no reason for the show to take this approach, and if they DO decide that Jim should be a trans man, then their relationship with Hob is canonically a queer one. Trans men are men and if one of Hob's greatest loves is a trans man, then Hob is a queer man himself. I genuinely believe the show will take this route and I can't wait to see it.
Going back to my point about narrators bias, if MoGF, SoM, tKO, and TW are all narrated by a neutral third party, then this must be the true Hob. A not overly likeable rather selfish man. He has his good points, and he has certainly grown and changed over the centuries, and carries a lot of guilt for his past mistakes, but he is still quite self absorbed. Jim paints a picture of a rose tinted Hob that is far more the dreamy romantic older gentleman that took a young person under his wing. Which is fair enough.
The show is of course its own adaptation, with changes from the comics as it sees fit, but I do feel it's my duty to remind you that the show also has a narrator guiding the audience through its many stories. Dream of the Endless, Lord Morpheus, King of Nightmares and Prince of Stories himself. Take from that whatever you will.

“To the biggest motherfucking return in WWE history! The brightest star is back, bitches!!!”
Glasses clinked together in a toast to celebrate Naomi returning to WWE; the section erupting in cheers and applause for their friend. Kennedy took a swig from whatever fruity cocktail was placed in front of her before throwing her arms around Trinity. “I'm so happy you're back! I missed you so much.” She gushed, almost squeezing the life out of her best friend. “And I'm glad to be back here with all of y'all. Don't get me wrong, the people over at TNA are cool, but this is home.” Anyone tuned into their conversation let out an ‘awww’ and reciprocated the sentiment. Naomi's return was trending #1 on every social media outlet after the Royal Rumble. All the superstars decided to hit the club as a welcome back celebration for Trinity.
Jon was taking advantage of the time he was finally getting with his wife after being apart for so long. Leaning closer to the couple, Ken brushed his arm off of Trin’s shoulder playfully to catch his attention. “MY other half is back and it's time to feel the glow!” She made sure she spoke loud enough for the twin to hear just for him to suck his teeth in response.``Man watch out. This is MY wife, okay?”, he scoffed, giving a dramatic eye roll like they were on a reality show. “If you miss me, just say that.” She let out a cackle at his over the top nature before getting up to give him a hug. “Yeah yeah yeah. Long time no see, Juice. I miss you or whatever.”
“Mhm i see you over there on the red side doing ya thing. I think you should've won that championship.” “Me too, but I'm just getting started! Damage Ctrl better keep their head on a swivel.” The smaller group agreed with an ‘I’ll drink to that’ thrown in their personal toast.
Back when they all got called up to the main roster from NXT, life was so lit. The four of them would travel together, room together, train together - do everything together. How many superstars could say the company favored them through injuries, drafts and creative uncertainty. When Trin married Jon, she gained an entire family she never knew she needed and being so far from home, Kennedy was grateful to not be alone.
Ken was from New Jersey but when her parents split up in middle school, she moved to Orlando with her father for a fresh start. Any kid would hate being the new girl, but when she met Trinity, it seemed like life just fell into place. They were on the dance team together, they graduated and danced for the Orlando Magic together, they joined FCW together and made it to WWE together.
Kennedy snapped out of her daze from the warmth enveloping her body which she wasn't sure if it was because of the liquor, or the reminiscing. The girls were catching up on all the tea they didn't get to share being on different brands when the air in the room shifted. It was stiff and humid like those stifling hot summer days that fucked up the freshest silk presses.
Joshua had finally made his appearance after doing press with Cody after his big victory for a second year in a row. He dapped up his twin then gave his sister in law a warm embrace but before he could entertain any interaction with Kennedy, she had gotten up to get another round of drinks.
When she got out of the section, she sucked in a breath so deep her lungs almost burst. She shuffled through the grinding bodies to get to the bar and ordered them another round of cocktails since everyone was keeping it light with them having to travel to the next city for RAW the following day. With a promise to have the drinks sent over to their section, she sulked back to the group and plopped down next to her bestie. Of course her big mouth husband couldn't just enjoy the moment with his nosey ass.
“Aye I know me and Trin ain't around like we used to be but at least you got the next best thing!” Jon patted his brother's chest as he laughed at his own jokey joke but she couldn't even spare a glance in that direction without feeling sick so replied with a low ‘mhm’ then chugged the rest of her lemon drop. Josh visibly stiffened at the comment making Jon's eyebrows furrow in confusion at the mood change. Before the couple in the middle could question the tense reaction, Shake Sumn blasted through the speakers. Kennedy hopped up with an excited squeal, pulling Trinity towards the dance floor. “I'm not leaving without a dance! Let's go!”
I don't know how to dance but can lean And make the ghetto bitches put they hands on they knees Make the ghetto bitches put they hands on they knees  Make the ghetto bitches put they hands on they knees
Tumblr media
They rarely had the same days off - let alone being able to go out and let loose so when they did, it was a movie. Ass was bouncing up, down, left, right, in a circle - you name it. They were throwing that shit. Josh was trying to be discreet as he watched Kennedy; his cup held in front of his face with his eyes peering over to the dance floor. That old flicker of desire and possession crawled up his back but was snubbed out when they made brief eye contact and her face scrunched up in disgust. She turned away letting the cold shoulder fill his veins with icy guilt.
The dance mix had their shoes discarded as they danced on each other like they were auditioning for a music video. Before the two really scrub the ground, the DJ cut the music per someone's request to dedicate a song their lady and of course it had to be their song.
This is for you, you, my number one This is for you, you, my number one Oh, yeah, yeah-yeah This is for you, you, my number one
Jon mosied over to take Ken’s spot while she slipped her shoes on to give them their husband and wife time. This time when she straightened up, Joshua's eyes were boring straight into hers, his hand itching to have her wrapped around him again. The warmth simmering in her stomach spread to her brain making her feel lightheaded. She made a beeline to the bathroom in search of relief from the bile rising in her throat. But of course Kennedy was stopped short just a few feet away from the door when a hand grabbed her wrist.
“Kennedy.” She didn't need to turn around to know who was keeping her from getting herself together. “Get off me.” His tone told her everything he was already going to say and she ain't wanna hear none of that shit. “Look, i just wanna talk. You been ducking me since I got to RAW.” Her composure completely slipped- his presence sending her into a blind rage. “NOW YOU WANNA TALK, NIGGA?!! YOU AIN'T WANNA TALK WHEN I WOKE UP AND YOU WERE GONE. YOU AIN'T WANNA TALK WHEN YOU FUCKING BLOCKED ME. AND YOU DAMN SURE AIN'T WANNA TALK WHEN YOU SHOWED UP TO OUR MOTHERFUCKING JOB WITH THE SAME WOMAN YOU SAID YOU WERE DONE WITH.” If he wanted to talk, she wasn't going to pull her punches. He was gon shut the fuck up and listen. “I'm not avoiding shit! If i'm not in your face like some groupie bitch it's because looking at you makes me physically sick and i wanna punch you in the damn face.” Trying to count backwards in her head was not working but if she didn't calm down she was gonna lose her job.
“Ken, I know I fucked up and I'm sorry! I wanna make it right. Please, just let me explain.” His pleading only pissed her off more like she owed him something. She thought she got over what happened between them but looking at him broke her heart all over again. Her anger was dippinginto the overwhelming grief she fought to get out of two years ago. “Nah, you know  what? We cool. It was nothing. We were just going through some shit and used each other to feel better, right?” Turning to head back to the dance floor, she let her friends know she was gonna head out for the night under the guise of having to drive to Tampa the next day for RAW. Trinity thought they should leave too to make sure she got back to the hotel safe but she insisted they stay and enjoy their night together. After a quick round of hugs to their group partying in the VIP section, Ken flew out the club like a bat out of hell.
Her curls whipped wildly from the night breeze as she stood outside trying to get an Uber. A shiver wracked her curvy frame and she cursed herself for not wearing a jacket because the wind was tearing her little lace outfit up. Suddenly her mama's scolding of sacrificing being cold to look cute made her snicker. The heavy scent of leather filled her nostrils as a weight was set on her shoulders. “You shouldn't be out here by yourself, cariña.”
Turning around to face her savior, she gave him a sly smile. “Didn't think I'd see you here, Priest. This ain't a dive bar you know.” Her shot at him coaxed a surprised laugh to boom out of him. “You don't say? I must've gotten lost, but I'm glad I did. You look amazing,” The tall superstar slowly dragged his eyes from her white painted toes to her perfectly windswept hair, “But i can't imagine that net came with a coat.’’ Oh he was laying the charm on thick and she couldn't deny the turn of events was tantalizing. “Well I guess I should thank you for being such a gentleman, Senor Money In The Bank.” “How about you thank me by letting me give you a ride back to the hotel. It's late.” Who knew the leader of The Judgement Day would turn out be her knight in shining armor?
“Alright I'll take you up on that, but if you kidnap me it's going to look suspicious when we both don't show up tomorrow.” He chuckled again at her antics, shaking his head in disbelief before motioning her to his rental. “No funny business I promise, but trust me if I kidnapped you, you'd like it, muñeca.” Taken aback by the remark, she couldn't even think of anything to fire back, opting to climb her happy ass into his passenger seat. Their drive back to the hotel consisted of classic getting to know you banter. Favorite colors, taste in music, hometowns, dietary choices. It was a vibe - unexpected but welcomed. The chatter continued all the way up until the pair made it to her door just like he promised.
“This is me. Thanks again for rescuing me.” Kennedy leaned against her door to smile up at the mysterious Damian Priest. ”Anytime. Remind me to thank the gang for dragging me out.” She pulled his jacket from her shoulders then held it out to return back to him. “Oh I'll thank them at the show tomorrow. Gotta make sure I ruin your tough guy image." She teased as she unlocked her door only to be stopped for a second time that night. This touch was different. It was envigoraing.
“Do you think I could get your number? You know just in case there's an ax murderer in your room and you need saving again.” In a quick turn she leaned up on her tiptoes to press a lip gloss drenched kiss to his cheek. “I'll think about it. Goodnight.” She tossed a smirk over her shoulder as she retired to her room, leaving Damian in the hall anticipating their next encounter.

Mistakes and Misconceptions: Embracing the Learning Curve in Witchcraft
✨🔮🌙
Witchcraft is a profound journey, a tapestry woven with spells, rituals, and self-discovery. Yet, like any intricate art, it comes with its share of learning curves. In this blog post, let's explore the valuable lessons I've learned from my own mistakes and address common misconceptions about witchcraft, helping fellow practitioners navigate this magical path with wisdom.
🩷🩷🩷
1. Embrace Imperfection 🌿🌟
Mistake: Expecting perfection in every spell or ritual.
Lesson: Imperfection is the beauty of human experience. Spells might not always go as planned, but each mistake is a teacher. Embrace the learning process and grow through your craft.
2. Ethics First 🤝⚖️
Mistake: Neglecting ethical considerations in spellwork.
Lesson: Every action in witchcraft has consequences. Uphold ethical principles, ensuring your magic is a force for good. The Wiccan Rede, "An it harm none, do what ye will," is a compass for ethical practice.
3. Knowledge is Power 📚✨
Mistake: Relying solely on intuition without study.
Lesson: Intuition is potent, but a foundation of knowledge is crucial. Dive into the history, symbolism, and traditions of witchcraft. The more you understand, the richer your practice becomes.
4. Respect the Elements 🌬️🔥🌊🌎
Mistake: Disregarding the power of elemental balance.
Lesson: The elements are the cornerstone of magic. Respect their energies in your spells. Balance and harmony with the elements amplify the potency of your craft.
5. Patience in Spellwork 🕰️🕯️
Mistake: Rushing through spellcasting without patience.
Lesson: Spells require time and energy. Rushing compromises their effectiveness. Be patient, focus your intent, and allow the natural flow of magic to unfold.
6. Personalize Your Craft 🌈🌿
Mistake: Trying to fit into someone else's magical mold.
Lesson: Your journey is unique. Tailor your craft to resonate with your beliefs and experiences. The most potent magic comes from authenticity.
7. Openness to Adaptation 🔄🌌
Mistake: Sticking rigidly to one path or tradition.
Lesson: Witchcraft is ever-evolving. Be open to exploring different traditions and adapting your practice. The eclectic nature of witchcraft allows for flexibility and growth.
8. Mindfulness in Manifestation 🌟🧘
Mistake: Focusing solely on desires without mindfulness.
Lesson: Intentions should align with your highest good. Be mindful of what you wish for, ensuring it doesn't harm yourself or others. Positive, mindful manifestation is the key.
9. Embrace Setbacks as Growth 🌱🌑
Mistake: Seeing setbacks as failures.
Lesson: Setbacks are stepping stones to growth. Embrace them, learn from them, and recognize that they're an integral part of the magical journey.
10. Trust Your Intuition 🌠💖
Mistake: Ignoring your inner voice.
Lesson: Your intuition is your greatest guide. Trust it. If something doesn't feel right, explore why. Your instincts are powerful allies on your magical journey.
✨🔮🌙
Remember, dear witches, mistakes are not roadblocks but signposts on this enchanting journey. Embrace the learning curve, for it is in these twists and turns that the true magic of witchcraft unfolds. May your cauldron of wisdom brew with the lessons of your experiences, and may your magical path be illuminated with the light of understanding.

You know what I'd like? I'd like a Chinese fantasy show - standard historical fantasy sort of thing - about a group of martial artists/cultivators being sent on a journey to the utter West. Following some sort of prophecy or something.
Of they go, fast forward, they get as far as Constantinople at the height of its power (history? accuracy? bah!), and our intrepid group of cultivators run afoul of a group of Varangians (surprise co-production with Scandinavia y/y?). Not as in sworn enemies, just - they keep accidentally crossing paths in unfortunate ways, keep having cultural misunderstandings, and occasionally end up hanging out just because.
Both groups are hanging out at the same inn - and either somebody's singing a mournful song of home, prompting questions of "where did you hear our prophecy?", or somebody's reciting the prophecy, prompting "when did you ever visit Iceland?"
So, yeah, long story short the Varangians - who were about to head home anyway - agree to act as escorts/guides to our intrepid cultivators, who for mystical reasons need to get to Hekla.
Off the show goes, along the rivers through Rus to Scandinavia and then further North, beneath the Northern Lights to Iceland.
Of course, this is a artistic license fantasy show - so our Varangian/Norse friends? Turn out to have their own magic powers. Saga style magic powers. Maybe somebody gets replaced by a bear whenever he falls asleep. Maybe somebody's mother was a troll. That sort. And the Northern Europe of this show is definitely fantastic - there's probably a sea serpent somewhere.
They get to Iceland, they do whatever needs doing - turns out, our intrepid cultivators now need to rush home to finish the magic whatever back in China.
And, of course, now they and the Norse have bonded, especially one of the cultivators and one of the Norse (handsome fellows, naturally), and so of course their escort have to go escort them right back (besides, if there's really a city more glorious than Miklagard, they need to go see for themselves).
So, back to fantasy China we go...

Happilyfeatherafter’s ficrec Fridays
Good friday y'all. Welcome back to a new fortnight of fics that I’ve read and loved recently. I took my first holiday of the year and IMMEDIATELY caught a cold that knocked me out for the week but at least it meant I got reading done. Save me, destiel, save me.
If you want to find more you can see my previous rec lists here!
29 March 2024
virga(e) by @shineforthee (art by @neversleepuntilfive) has gone straight to the top of the favourite fics ever pile, oh my god you guys, please read it immediately and admire the art that inspired it as part of @deancasreversebang. This fic is a thing of beauty from start to finish. In one version of the story of Dean and Cas, we find Castiel perpetually waiting in the desert, when a 26 year old Dean stumbles upon him drawn to the location mid-hunt. They must learn to trust each other, to figure out what's causing the push and pull that bonds them. The poetry of this fic, run through with this yearning devastating emotion on their journey together, coupled with the incredibly evocatively descriptions and research into the setting, come together to make the most gorgeous picture, the desert a place that seems desolate but is teeming with life. Much like the slowburn romance that flourishes between them. It also links back to post-canon in a way that is seeded so carefully and cleverly, and made my heart explode. It's funny, romantic, devastating, emotional, moving....I can't do justice to this fic with such a short snapshot, please read it for yourselves and come yell at me about it. It's so beautiful. shineforthee also has a great 9x06 fanfic gap one shot and an ongoing wip now too and I can't wait to read that! (Somehow need any more convincing? Check out @bloodydeanwinchester's Virga(e) liveblog).
It's all very complex by artichokeflower okay that was all very serious, so let's turn to a short and sweet smut fic that had me giggling gleefully throughout. 'After walking in on Dean's private time, Cas decides to do a little research and experimentation of his own and gets magically trapped in a book about sexual fantasies. And if that means Dean has to go in after him, well what are buddies for, right?' The thing that is just GOLDEN about this fic aside from the hot smut is the dry sense of humour, borderline French Mistake parody level porn and dialogue between Dean and especially Cas which just gets them so well...the cowboy scenes in particular. Glorious: “I’m sorry, Dean. That’s the end of the erotic violence. Are you hurt?” “Is there going to be any sex in your sexy fantasies?” Dean wheezed. “Not that the whole shoot out wasn’t fun. I just wasn’t expecting as much plot is all.” He coughed. That had probably sounded too eager.
Just Being and Just Having by Englandwouldfall I have recced before but is now complete!! This the post-canon fic series delves so incredibly beautifully into Dean and Cas’ history of miscommunication and gives them the chance to truly talk things out, finding themselves falling more deeply in love as they do so and understand their own mistakes but also what makes them work so well together when they’re no longer under Chuck’s thumb. Each chapter feels like therapy and a brain and heart massage! It sticks the landing so well and I just love these boys so much.
Something Happening Somewhen by allthismusic (@folkbloodbaths, art by @eggchef) aaaahhh time travel young Dean brought to the future to meet older Dean and Cas fic trope my beloved. A @deancaspinefest fic, Allthismusic is a fan of the trope too and this fic is a gorgeous tribute to it and the fics that came before. Cas saves 24yo Dean from an accident and brings him to the future when he witnesses what his life will be. Will Cas have to remove his memories to stop a paradox? Sweet and heartfelt, a joy to read.
Books, Pies, and Roommates by @seidenapfel (art by @kitshay) is a @deancaspinefest two-person love hexagon, with some excellently farcical misdirection. Cas moves in to the spare room of Dean's house, but he doesn't meet him, he meets Sam, as Dean is busy working. Cas is professor but helps his cousin out as a barista and his favourite customer is Deano. Dean's intrigued by the barista but he's not his online penpal and best friend Angel. Lines blur, connections are made, and hearts are gonna get broken...or are they?
Tag list under the cut, let me know if you'd like to be added! Please reblog <3
