Just came across the artificially intelligent rapper FN Meka. No. Hell no. Absolutely the fuck not.
They typed in a bunch of rap or black culture random words and uploaded a bunch of random rap images and this is the shit it churned out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's made by a bunch of white and non-black people of color. What made them think rap is the genre of music their computer program should be making? There are a million other genres they could've chosen.
It says the n-word. A robot that's racially ambiguous says the n-word! They purposefully made it white enough for the white kids that will eat this up but just dark enough so when black people call it out, rightfully so, for its cultural appropriative-ness and stereotyping they can say it's black.
It's very black-fishy. They clearly modeled it off of those stank lookin' skittle rappers who are mostly not black. So why the fuck would they allow the N-WORD to be apart of its lexicon. That's sign number one they shouldn't have made this. You, a group of white people thought it was perfectly fine to let the n-word come out of its digital mouth. Are you serious?
It's a trap rapper. So did it at some point trap?
It speaks nigganese. The voice keeps changing because I know that the white creators are trying to figure out how "black" it can sound with out being offensive. It's not an AI generated voice. They get a black dude to do the raps and a white guy for the speaking voice. Which is even more offensive.
His name is FN Meka. The FN is clearly inspired by rappers like NBA YoungBoy, NLE Choppa, ASAP Rocky, etc. So what does FN stand for? Because for all the rappers with 'tags' in their name those tags have meanings. Is it that they just thought it sounded cool so they went with it? Yes.
A computer software that gets arrested and beaten by the police.
Tumblr media
It's giving minstrel show.
These white folks is sick.
What's next? He eats fried chicken and watermelon with a grape pop? He fucks a tiny white woman while her small dick white husband watches.
They've clearly bought it's following to make it seem more popular. I've never heard of this thing until today but it's got 10 million followers? I call bull shit. They are talented animators who lied to the record label and got a deal.
Capitol Records that signed FN Meka has dropped him after the backlash. Now they are going to try and make it look like it was just an oversight and they were trying to get in on the ground floor of a "new" and "innovative" space, when in reality this had to go through so many people before a rough draft of a rough draft contract was even drawn up. They just didn't care. And calling them out on this is screaming into the void. I hate it here.

Experimental/Healing Tank 101
Experimental/Healing Tank 101:
The person changes into spandex shorts (M/F/NB), a strapless spandex top (F/NBBF*), and spandex cuffs for their ankles & wrists. (*-Non-Binary born female)
The person straps an oxygen tank to their back, and puts a breathing mask on their face. (The mask's appearance is usually a full face mask, sometimes with an attached regulator.) Sometimes, ear communicators are put inside their ears in order to communicate with anyone outside of the tank.
They get onto a special platform that raises them higher until they're above the tank, and then they're submerged into the tank.
After the submerging, the platform goes back to its default area below the tank & back to its main position. Then, the tank is closed, and oxygen is delivered to the person.
Long tube-like cords emerge from the bottom area of the tank, and then via way of micro-needles (not seen in my perspective due to my IRL fear of them), they attach themselves to the person's body.
The person moves around for a bit in the tank for the first couple of minutes as recovery chemicals are inserted into their body via the cords.
At some point, the person is sedated via an anesthesia-like chemical so the recovery chemicals can do more work, though the person is still able to breathe. An hour or so later, the person wakes up and breathes normally while moving around in the tank again.
When the process is over, the cords disconnect themselves from the person and go back in the tank, and also, the platform goes back to where the person is.
The tank opens, and they are taken out of the tank emerging from it while on the platform.
After the platform lands on its default area outside the tank, the person then dries off (either via a drying station or is given towels), and is fully recovered.
Experimental/healing tanks play a major role in my SXT (Scenario X-Type) stories, mainly my Tokyo Ghoul and Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth/Survive ones. This info also proves useful for anyone into this kinda "tank stuff" like me. 😉👍🏻❤️

Today’s PSA: If you don’t really know AAE, please stop trying to write it into Sam’s dialogue (Spoiler: you don’t really know AAE). You would think it would be impossible to make an African-American sound like someone pretending to be an African-American, but a lot of y’all are doing it effortlessly.
It’s not a “vernacular”, it’s not a “dialect”, it’s not “bad grammar”, it’s a goddamn language. With its own goddamn grammatical rules (not just Standard English with “ain’t” thrown around willy-nilly). So treat it like one, so at least this one ADOS can stop having her brain make the train brake noise when Sam starts talking in your otherwise adorbs story.

What I don't think white people understand about AAE/AAVE, is that it is another language. African American English is not slang. It is not your trendy tiktok sayings. It is not lyrics from your favorite songs to repeat. It is a language, and it is not for you.
AAE has different grammatical rules than English. It is not broken English. AAE has different rotic and vowel pronunciations than English. It is not 'uneducated'. This language is our cultural heritage. Let me say that again. This language is OUR cultural heritage passed down to us by our West African ancestors who were kidnapped and enslaved here. It is not for you.
Why is it okay to learn other languages and speak those? Because you don't call someone an uneducated thug because they speak French. Do you. But if they speak AAE, you have something to say. Because the theft and bastardization of black culture in America is far-reaching and unceasing. How many tiktok stars say 'deadass' and 'on god' and 'simp' and dozens of other phrases that they don't have the background to understand? When whites do it, it's trendy. But when we do it, it's not cute anymore huh. It's ghetto, suddenly. You steal the language, remove the meaning, and forget that this language is not for you.
I'm done listening to this shit. I'm not okay with it, I'm just not. This is our heritage, my heritage, my fucking birthright, and you're turning it into a meme. Stop. I'm saying it, I'm demanding it. Stop. White people need to stop taking what is NOT on offer. Because you come with no respect, no understanding. Just taking taking taking. Always taking. From now on, I'm calling it out when I see it. AAE is a language, it is MY language, the language of my community and my ancestors, my history.
And it is not for you.
White people are encouraged to reblog, but watch yourselves in the comments. No need to recenter the conversation to be about you. Just boost black voices and move forward.

AAVE and misogynoir
an ongoing reflection of my class and my final project
I've been taking a really cool linguistics class abt the history and grammar of AAVE (African American Vernacular English) and I noticed this interesting detail abt past academic analyses of AAVE-- when researchers first started analyzing AAVE, the demographic that they initially studied were young Black people in urban spaces, especially Black, working class men. This focus had the unintentional consequences of making it seem to the general public that Black men were primarily the ones using AAVE, although this is clearly not true.
Now obviously, Black women also use AAVE in their daily lives; hell, there are several papers that have focused on the linguistic habits of Black women. However, I think that when many people talk about AAVE in regular conversations, the image that comes to the mind of many is of young Black men; particularly, young and DANGEROUS Black men. With this being said, it really made me think hard about how we always see people on Twitter misusing AAVE (or how "gen z slang" is often just AAVE, once again being taken out of context). I also really think that much of the AAVE being misused online has primarily come from the language of Black women, as opposed to that of Black men, so it's something I've really been thinking about recently-- I feel like there's definitely some misogynoir tied to this phenomenon but idrk how to articulate it. If anyone sees this, tell me what you think, for my final project I typed this post up to see what having a discussion like this outside of class might be like!

AI more likely to recommend death sentence when defendant writes in African American English
Hmmmm... I wonder why AI trained on human texts etc. from an "equal" society would ever exhibit racism... Not a clue...

AAE and the topic of race in African American movies
Language in African American Movies (meaning movies made specifically by/for that audience).
Content warning, topics of racism, and potential spoilers for some of these films.
Throughout all the African American movies I watched so far, they all had a few binding features relating to language. 1. AAE was in the movie, often used by most of the cast, 2. The language was played with, either through humor, or to make a specific point. The most interesting to me though was 3. The topic of race and language played a role in the movie itself. Either as a struggle the character goes through, a point of comedy to make light, or the movie itself was a commentary on it. This does not apply to every film made for this audience, but a large portion of the ones I’ve seen.
“Black Dynamite” is a great example of a movie containing all 3 of these traits. The most obvious is that it’s a satiric version of what’s called a blacksploitation (often called Blaxploitation) film, and is directly jabbing at the movies “Shaft,” “Superfly,” and “Dolemite” (a blacksploitation film is exactly what it sounds like, a film exploiting African Americans, typically with the villain and protagonist being black themselves). It pokes fun of this type of movie any chance it could get. Throughout the entire film an older version AAE was present, and often exaggerated to reflect how the blacksploitation films would portray the main cast.

(Black Dynamite)
This article by Ed Guerrero called “The Rise and Fall of Blaxploitation” (2011) is a neat inside into this type of film.
This sort of direct conversation about how race impacts daily life found its way into most of these films.
The conversation in almost every movie made for an African American audience I’ve watched brings up the topic of race. This isn’t a criticism of this practice, as just a bleak observation. Because of the issues they deal with on a relatively daily basis, it makes sense that this topic would come up in the frequency it does, and the language plays a large role in it. The topic is at the forefront of their minds.
In the movie “Get Out” AAE was used as a tool (in the best possible way). This first clip is of a character at the beginning of the movie, in which he's using AAE , and the second is the same character/actor (the one in the straw hat). The lack of AAE with the second clip was to show a changed that happened to the character. The character was stripped of his identity, and his language along with it.
Code-switching is present in quite a few of these movies, the most notable and perhaps the most famous is “Get Out” where code-switching plays a large role for the character, and he uses it as a tool to get by in his telemarketing job.
youtube
This is all in stark contrast to the movies made to fit the mainstream. Largely the topic of race is untouched, and the characters that are not white are made to seem like that it is not an issue that arises. When it is spoken about, it is often done flippantly as well, or solely for humor. Sometimes it can be done well, but having that character being around solely to joke about they way the use AAE or how they are black is never a pleasant thing to see.
Tumblr media
(Happy Gilmore)
After not being exposed to these movies, watching several in quick succession gave me some neat perspectives that I think a lot more people should have. It provided broader insight into struggles coming straight from the people that these struggles affect.
Tumblr media
Conclusion
Because of the struggles that come with being black in America, race is something that POC people are often forced to think about. Due to this, race is an integral part to identity, and the language spoken right along with it. This is reflected in the films created by and for this audience. Not only were these movies a blast to watch, they give a neat look into the different ways AAE is used. AAE is untethered compared to way it is in mainstream movies. It is the main form of English throughout the movies, and is often a force to be played with.
