"Haven't Slept In 2 Weeks" c.2001-2003, acrylic on gessoed cardboard. I've been an insomniac since at least my teens, a long time. At one point when I was 15 I spent the entire night before the first day of 10th grade awake in bed, and I went to school anyway. By early adulthood (when this was painted) it was happening all thee time, especially in summer. No, I wasn't partying, I was in bed, unable to sleep. I still can't go to bed earlier than midnight for some reason. It's a miserable feeling and isn't great for mental health. Speaking of which, finally got a hold of my psychiatrist today. Told him I was not feeling well as far as paranoia goes (everything feels very surreal lately, dreamlike) however I hadn't had any hallucinations or delusions. But I'm not feeling good, just a huge sense of impending doom with no real source. But I was scared about relapsing into psychosis. Still am. We decided to raise my antipsychotic meds (quetiapine) gradually but immediately and I'll check back in with Jim in a couple weeks. That's good enough for me. So that's where things are now. I'm hoping not to be too tired/sedated, we'll see. Kinda sucks when you take a thousand meds and they all have sedative properties 🤦‍♀️ That's life though, I've done this at least a zillion times, I can handle a zillion and one. At least I can finally calm the fuck down lol. Anyway, thanks for reading. We'll see how this goes. Probably fine.
