Before the blinding white light of the entrance hall and emptiness, it was the dim yellow lights of a bar bathroom and panic and terror. And now he didn’t feel any of that.

He didn’t feel anything. It couldn’t be described as apathy, only emptiness. It was an absence of all feelings and emotions. He took a scan of the area. It was so typical. There were tall strong white marble columns everywhere. They towered over and seemingly went on forever. Seth then found his feet moving towards the front where a long desk stood stretching. Not infinitely so as the columns seemed too. Seth was brought out of his thoughts when a kind voice spoke to him.

“Bryan Seth Gordon Jr.? Welcome to the afterlife, this is the Front Deskth.” Seth’s attention snapped to the man who was wearing a turtleneck and a golden star of David.

Sculpture of my DnD character, AFG (Apprentice Fairy Godmother.) Bio under cut.

TW: Child abuse, child neglect

In Faerûn, there's a group known as the Fairy Godparents who function as a non-government affiliated Child Protective Services. They help care for children whose parents are either unable or unwilling to give proper care.

In cases where parents are simply unable, they show themselves to the parents while offering help and financial assistance. But they keep their existence a secret from abusive parents to prevent worsening the situation. Fairy Godparents sometimes take children away and either adopt them or find homes for them if the abuse becomes extreme or there's no hope for the parents to improve.

AFG was one of those cases. She was the child of a rural baron who feared for her because of her uncontrollable magic. Her mother abused her behind her father's back, and treated her like a servant. Her older sisters took a cue from their mother and tormented her. Her father ignored her and the abuse entirely, along with the rest of his family. Petunia Foxglove was assigned to her case soon after a servant reported her family to the Fairy Godparents.

Instead of standing by until AFG wanted to attend a royal ball and romance a young royal or something, AFG's Fairy Godmother regularly visited her to help her cope with and distract her from her daily life while monitoring her situation. She took her away to raise as her own when the abuse escalated.

AFG was grateful to her Fairy Godmother and was inspired to become one herself to pay it forward in the future. So her Fairy Godmother started apprenticing her, and now she needs to gain practical magical experience before becoming a full fledged Fairy Godmother. AFG is actually her title (Apprentice Fairy Godmother), which she's using as a placeholder name until she choses one for herself.

AFG loves glitter, fairytale-like clothes, and her friends (aka everyone in her vicinity unless they've earned her hate.) She has a cheerful demeanor, even when it's not appropriate for the situation, and pretty… odd morals. AFG compulsively picks up anything she can grab, even harvesting corpses to provide materials for her necromancer cousin. She's naïve and doesn't read the mood either out because she's genuinely oblivious or forcibly ignores it. This makes her extremely accepting towards others, she's happy to strike up a conversation even with shady, creepy people.

Most of the morally-questionable things she does are for the people she loves, whether she's known them for most of her life or she literally just met them. The rest are done because she just wants to steal pretty thing or to get knitting materials.
