It always hits me that Joel was just 36 when Sarah died. That would make him 22 by the time of her birth, right? He was so young. So terrifyingly young. So much so that, when Sarah died, he'd spent what? A third of his whole life with her? Or slightly more.

He was barely an adult when she was born - and I don't mean legally, I mean in the way where by 22 you're just starting to figure shit out. And by 36 years old, she made up the entirety of his adult life. He didn't even know an adult life without her in it. So much of present day Joel is defined by being a fatherTM and it makes you forget he was so, so horrifyingly young when it all went down.
