the baffling thing is people are perfectly capable of noting that, say, Al-Qaeda was a bad and fucked up organization AND SIMULTANEOUSLY the circumstances that led to it being created and funded were fucked up and the fault of western interference in the area, why can't people extend that to hamas? hamas can be a horrendous thing that came from the horrendous treatment of palestinians, two things can be true

And really, the birth of both is parallel in themes! America funded, trained, and equipped Al-Queda during the Soviet-Afghan War because we were trying to undercut the power of Marxists in Russia. Israel allowed the Mujama Al-Islamiya to operate in the open in Palestine and even legally recognized it as a charity.

They did all of this because they were more preoccupied with fighting the Marxist party Fatah, which was very much in the vein of leftist guerrilla movements of the 70’s and 80’s, and they saw the inherent conflict between the secular, leftist Fatah and the religious extremism of Mujama Al-Islamiya, which later became Hamas.

Israel, much like the US, created their own monster because they were scared of Marxist boogeymen, and that monster has destroyed the lives of Palestinians just as much as Al-Queda has destroyed the lives of Afghanis.

Ecco arrivato il mese funesto, da diversi anni a questa parte è stato sdoganato quello che precedentemente era soltanto una pratica di chi aveva una visione della vita gotica, di quella sottocultura dei mostri e delle cose macabre in generale, della notte e degli animali con significati esoterici o demoniaci. In poche parole una rottura di coglioni che culmina con Halloween, festa pagana irlandese della fine dei raccolti, poi come funziona sempre da qualche anno si passa dagli scheletri e zucche alle decorazioni di natale in un batter di ciglia, come se niente fosse, sempre e comunque dentro quel consumismo becero che contraddistingue i tempi moderni, perché se non fosse per il commercio col cavolo che gli scheletri avrebbero fatto breccia nei cuori delle persone comuni. Poi c'è fortunatamente la natura a cui non frega niente delle nostre stronzate e inizia a prepararsi per l'inverno stendendo tappeti infiniti di foglie e che tende a regalarci prima del bianco totale un'altra esperienza cromatica fantastica, e non soltanto l'arancione e il nero come già da oggi si vede un pò ovunque, supermercati in testa. No per carità a me che me frega delle vostre stronzate, io a Ottobre ci sono nato (26 per l'esattezza) infatti sono io che ho dato il via al cambio dell'orario :D battutina.

Va bè, lasciando stare queste commerciali irritazioni, oggi ho passato un paio di ore con la Piccoletta a raccontarci cose e a ridere davanti un caffè e un pezzo di torta, normale amministrazione. Stamane leggendo le notizie sempre meno notizie e sempre più propaganda, ne ho vista una che diceva più o meno che gli stati uniti mollano l'ucraina perché hanno problemi economici interni, quindi sembra che li sosterranno solo moralmente, questo da parte governativa, mentre le aziende della guerra continueranno a vendergli le armi e quelle della ricostruzione sono pronte ad appaltare i ricavi di questa guerra che sembra in qualche modo andare a scemare in un sottile e lento declino. Non vedo niente di nuovo, gli yankee fanno sempre così, incassati i profitti ti salutano lasciandoti nella merda, chiedete agli afghani.

Saltiamo sopra a questa pozzanghera di sangue e merda a piè pari, tanto a noi dei piani bassi è toccato il meno peggio dei mali cioè la crisi economica che nessuno ha osato sbandierare che sia stata causata da una guerra che noi popolazioni europee non volevamo ma che i nostri governanti lecchini hanno subito appoggiato tagliandosi i coglioni, per chi li ha anzi li aveva, facendoci sfigurare per l'ennesima volta davanti al mondo intero, perché quella storiella dell'occidente è una bufala che vi raccontano, su 192 paesi al mondo solo 31 fanno parte della NATO a maggioranza europea, il resto non ci ha visto chiaro anzi alcuni proprio sono inorriditi per come l'Europa abbia reagito, a 90°, in questa situazione, che inizia come tutti oramai sappiamo nel 2014. Basta.

Defenestration of the Patriarchy

If you originate from immigrants like most in this country, you come to understand just how crucial community is for individuals & families striving to make a home in a new land. My family, leaving with nothing but the clothes on their backs to escape the death, destruction & despair of the Great Game’s consequences was no exception. There is not a single “Afghan” who was spared the grief of burying a loved one as the result of two far away empires poising and posturing to carve up what remained of their watan (homeland). Growing up, holiday season was always hard for me; already feeling like the odd one out in nearly every situation; seeing all these kids excited for what Santa was going to bring them, I was green with envy. My mother maintained that Christmas was for the others. We believed in something else & worshipped a different God. We were different. It is this inherent human obsession to draw lines in the sand that would go on to ignite my fury and engender my disdain for the way things certainly do not have to be. To quote one of my favorite minds, “Clearly some sort of mistake had been made.” I was put on this earth in its darkest hour to hopefully contribute to the solution, the revolution of thought itself.

It was the mid-90s, and after a holy month of fasting, discipline & reflection, my brother & I finally got to experience our answer to red & green festivities and wrapped gifts under trees, Eid-al-Fitr. We packed our bags and got on the road for a weekend of fun with our cousins at Grandma’s—but first, worship at a Masjid. It was nearly a three-hour trip to the new house of worship as the father drives. It didn’t need to be, but at the time Fremont, or “Little Kabul,” had the only Afghani Masjid west of the Mississippi. We arrived and did as always, split off from my mother and took our shoes off to enter the men's section for prayer. This wasn't our first rodeo, and though we could hardly attest to what was being proclaimed in the verses, there were opportunities to pick up every 5th word or so of Farsi during the sermons at this place, compared to the few Arabic Mosques attended for Eid prayers once or twice a year prior. We would go through a series of yoga-like configurations while reciting millennia old chants in a language we had no chance of understanding let alone believing. The end would be signaled by looking right and left, then shaking the hands of our neighbors who would more than likely reek of either Drakkar Noir or cumin, coriander & turmeric. Following that, we would sit on our heels with our palms up as if reading the miracle of God, doing our equivalent of a cross and our fun day would finally begin.

Today would be different. After the initial series of rakats, the Mullah began to introduce a guest speaker who would go on to lead the Eid prayer sermon. Already the energy in the room wavered a bit. In the next few moments. I would experience the most intense, emotionally charged & memorable exhibition of human indecency in my short 7 years on the planet. The heavily bearded man without a mustache, who looked very much like an ape, began his tirade with a righteousness that even I, with my entry level fluency could sense was inappropriate. A disturbance was bubbling in one corner of the hall near the exit. The Mullah from overseas continued his angry sounding monologue despite the rising commotion and more and more attention of the pious men before him diverted to the growing rabble now pushing its way to the stage where he droned on. A circle of men, of which not one I could recognize forced its way to the podium. One of the men grabbed the microphone from the bewildered man's hands to the gasps of an incredulous crowd of believers. The microphone was handed to someone obscured from the vision of a child on the floor of God's house.

It wasn’t until she spoke amidst premature cries of outrage with a voice I had never heard before that I realized the person surrounded by strange men was my own mother. She introduced herself to the thousands of people listening, first and last name. She told the worshippers where she came from, hours away, past a dozen different Mosques, for the sole purpose that her children could pray and experience their faith, their heritage, among their own culture, their own people. Her voice cracked with emotions that still blurs my vision to this day when I remember that moment. She went on to say that she did not however, bring her kids to be subjected to the lies and filth & evil that this now seething with rage turban-sporting zealot was espousing. With every sentence she got out, she was met with more outcry and denial. A disgusting scene of call and response, where each plea to the humanity of her fellow brothers & sisters was returned with male demands for her death.

The people who this man foaming at the mouth represented had just recently made news in our diaspora’s circle by massacring an entire Hazara/Shiite village. Their list of crimes & atrocities was already something to be condemned unilaterally but obviously they had support in America, or he would not have been afforded the opportunity to spread their hatred. As much as I’d like to believe that her words of truth would have reached even their staunchest allies, half the people who were now on their feet pushing their way towards the stage to murder my mother were enraged and motivated by the simple fact that she, a woman, dared to enter to men’s section, dared to speak among them like an equal. It goes without saying, most of what she was coaxing out of her obviously bleeding heart went over my head. I could only hear the loss in her words, her disappointment, her outrage, the profound sense of injustice and perversion of divinity she was trying to illuminate. Her voice was growing hoarse with the undeniable emotion she was barely holding back.

My eyes welled up for her, but those tears quickly disappeared when nearby, a white-haired man over ten times my age shouted “Bukoshesh! (Kill her!)” I shouted every curse word in every language I knew at this foul waste of life next to me & moved to kick him in his shins, positively murderous, a feeling no child should have to hold within them. My father grabbed my brother and I as we slowly made our way to the closest exit amidst the near fully formed mobs of men. Half were fighting to get their godless hands on her, and the rest were putting their safety on the line to protect her, a stranger, and the truth that everyone needed to hear. Perhaps its retrospective bias, but I’d like to remember that even then—before their organization’s unspeakable crimes against humanity became a worldwide historical precedent—that the chorus of “Raast megah! (She’s speaking the truth!)” had more souls in their camp.

The hall was in an uproar, calling it a riot is not an exaggeration. The men around my mother were arranged in a tightly knit circle with interlocking arms. Others surrounded them fending and kicking off the furious forms of mediocrity fighting their way onto the stage to do my mother harm. Their circle was getting pushed further back, with the cries and screams and declarations making it impossible to hear her words shaming the people who brought this antithesis of a Muslim before them on their holiest of days through the PA system. The guest speaking Mullah was ousted, along with the circle of righteous. By some miracle, my family was whole again as her protectors held off the descending mob in the parking lot and we tore out of there, never looking back. I would later learn the image of the Masjid never recovered and they never held another service again.

I was already a socially anxious child, unbeknownst to me at the time. This nightmare only furthered my distrust of people in large groups. I have since never felt safe or comfortable in crowds, physically, mentally, in the sense of flesh or of mind. Carlin’s nuanced distinction between individuals & people is the most accessible explanation I can highlight. This moment that I seem to have left a part of myself behind in, has stayed with me over the years as a reminder of the essence of human nature. I not only lost much of my innocence, I lost my faith in people, & in God. Despite being one of the greatest examples of social & geo-political experimentation of a tired, old yet effective methodology of divide & conquer, during the last quarter century fate had bound all the various ethnicities of the region under a single banner: devastation.

Perhaps it’s pointless to pose the question to a collective of traumatized people hounded by decades of unending loss, warfare & desperation, why they would choose to act in such a manner so far divorced from piety. Give me three Trumpers and I’ll show you the Commie among them. There will never be two humans on earth who will agree with each other on every single thing. The inextricable tendency to discern, compartmentalize & categorize, the most human trait we possess, is also the greatest threat to survival, peace & existence. Our scripture, like many others decries that we are all brothers and sisters. I saw far too little love in that hall. I will always be grateful to those men who protected my mother, to those who fought on the right side of a line that should have never been drawn. The performative piousness one encounters nowadays is enough to make my stomach turn. The ideals of all religions have been perverted and politicized to the extent that nothing seems sacred anymore.

This day that I look back on more often as the repercussions of unfettered fascism make themselves increasingly known, is not only the moment I couldn’t be prouder to be my mother’s son, but also the first to rouse me from the childish dream too soon. The veil would be removed completely on September 11th, 2001, when the world decided to single my people out and persecute us with a sense of hubris, hate & hypocrisy unrivaled in this modern, hardly civilized age. A couple days after the richest most powerful individuals in the Anglosphere pulled off the greatest false flag operation in the entirety of history, I was watching the coverage, when my mother piped up, “That’s the guy we threw out of the Masjid.” I looked at the ape-like man beaming like The Grinch behind sunglasses and his credentials, a Taliban minister going on about something inane or other.

Spirituality or religion often forms the foundation of an individual’s morals and ethics and overall belief system. It will always be a touchy and potentially polarizing subject. My problem is with that exact polarity. Unless we’re talking about fundamental laws of physics and by extension, chemistry & biology, polarity has no place in the human experience. The world isn’t binary, so why should thinking be? This story, like many others of my past and origins, help fuel my tireless journey to do the right thing, to be a voice of reason. To love is to save the world with kindness. Understanding this & breeding empathy to leave a chance for the next generations to get right what the accumulative human experience thus far struggled to completely understand is the best I can muster. We are one organism, and any deviation from such an undeniable fact only ends in annihilation. We can do better. It’s those moments of beauty in between the horrors that solidify this belief into our psyches and keep us trudging forward through the darkness.

Breve biografia

Adel Sayyid nasce il 16 novembre 1990 da genitori afghani musulmani sunniti di origini somale nella città di Kandahar.

Nel 2014, al seguito della propaganda del califfo Ibrahim al-Badri si unisce alla organizzazione terroristica Stato Islamico e venne addestrato come militante e sicario.

Nel 2019, Adel si sposa con Aafia Khorasani con la quale ebbe un figlio nel 2020 il giorno 7 settembre con il nome Ramzi Sayyid.

Nel 2023, si infiltra in Libia dove fa un attacco terroristico contro il politico libico Felix Foster per ordini del califfo Juma al-Badri e il generale Omar Soudani ferendolo all'adome e riuscì a sfuggire dalla polizia libica.

Il 7 marzo, Adel si rifugia nella città di Waymart in Pennsylvania e si infiltra nel FBI iniziando a lavorare come agente speciale facendo attenzione a non farsi scoprire che è un criminale e nel frattempo sta iniziando ad avere attrazione anche per il genere maschile diventando bisessuale.

Il 12 marzo, Adel si trasferisce a Berlino in Germania seguendo il suo collega Amir al-Mawli rimanendo tuttavia un agente speciale del FBI.

Il 16 marzo, Adel lascia il FBI senza farsi scoprire e si infiltra nella polizia di Berlino per rubare le informazioni.

Nello stesso giorno, Adel festeggia la vittoria dello Stato Islamico nel nord Iraq.

Il 3 agosto, Jalal condanna l'uccisione del suo alleato Ayman al-Zawahiri nel giorno 31 luglio da parte degli Stati Uniti condannandolo come un attacco che hanno violato gli accordi di Doha ma allo stesso lui decise di non attaccare gli Stati Uniti e accettò il premio dal FBI di 40 millioni di dollari per non causare tensioni sebbene lui iniziò a sospettare che alcuni membri talebani abbiano dato informazioni agli Stati Uniti dove si trovava Ayman al-Zawahiri e rimase in allerta.

Successivamente si rivela che la persona morta non era Ayman al-Zawahiri ma erano morti in realtà 10 civili e che la persona seppellita di recente era uno dei civili morti nel raid della CIA statunitense.

Il 13 agosto, Jalal smise di negare l'uccisione di Ayman al-Zawahiri non avendo altre scelte e fece sparare le proteste femminili poi fece congratulazioni a Yasser El-Sayed per essere diventato il nuovo leader di al-Qaeda.

Il 3 ottobre, Jalal per non rischiare di spaccare il movimento talebano continuò ad accosentire ai talebani ultraconservativi violentare e reprimere le donne afghane, il ministro dell'educazione si dimette a causa del fatto che non era d'accordo escludere le donne dall'educazione e fu messo invece un ministro più ignorante e che non riesce né leggere né scrivere ma solo parlare senza nemmeno comprendere quello che dice mentre il precedente ministro talebano dell'educazione è stato nominato capo della città di Dar al-Afta.

I talebani più moderati furono molto infelici ed estremamente delusi che ancora una volta i talebani ultraconservativi hanno avuto il sopravvento sulla leadership talebana e che le donne afghane sono state escluse.

Jalal si aspetta nel frattempo che l'intero Afghanistan collassa economicamente avendo ancora sanzioni dagli Stati Uniti da parte del presidente statunitense James Sawyer.

Lo stesso giorno, Jalal fece nominare un ex detenuto di Guantanamo-bay, Jafar al-Iraqi come comandante per un'unità militare talebana.

Il 16 novembre, Jalal fece installare la legge della sharia in Afghanistan e fece anche bannare le donne dalle palestre e bagni pubblici.

Il 15 dicembre, Jalal fece ospitare Walid Bin Attash a Kabul in Afghanistan sperando che sia collaborativo a fermare ISKP dell'Afghanistan prima che sia troppo tardi.

Nello stesso giorno, Jalal assiste alla nascita del suo primo figlio Omar Haqqani avuto da sua moglie Nadia Alizadeh.

Il 18 dicembre, Jalal fece inviare forze speciali talebane nella locazione appena trovata dove abita l'emiro dell'ISKP, Musa Abdullah Ghani e quest'ultimo viene ucciso.

Il 21 dicembre, Jalal fece ospitare Salman Kolbani a Kabul in Afghanistan  e fece bannare le donne dalle università permettendo l'istruzione solo agli uomini afghani e bambini maschi.

Il 20 febbraio, Jalal fece trasformare le ex basi militari straniere in zone speciali economiche.

Afghanistan, l’apartheid delle donne di Daniela Hamaui

Provate ad immaginare di arrivare in un Paese dove la metà delle persone vive al buio sia di giorno che di notte. In quelle case le finestre sono oscurate da drappi pesanti e all’interno si aggirano dei fantasmi a cui non è consentito fare quasi nulla. Sono perennemente avvolti nelle tenebre, senza sogni e senza futuro se non quello di essere rinchiusi nell’oscurità.

Non si tratta però di un film di fantascienza o di una pellicola horror ma della quotidianità delle donne afghane a cui è vietato praticamente tutto.

Amnesty International ha stilato un elenco delle cose che le ragazze e le donne afghane non possono fare: andare a scuola dopo gli 11 anni (ma in molte province l’età è scesa a 8), frequentare l’università, passeggiare nei parchi pubblici, fare sport, apparire nei programmi tv, viaggiare oltre 72 km senza il permesso di un tutore.

Ma quest’elenco, già di per sé simile a una vera e propria apartheid, si allunga di giorno in giorno.

Alle donne non è più consentito di lavorare per le Ong straniere e l’effetto di questa decisione si riflette sulle ragazze sole e le vedove a cui nessuno consegna gli aiuti umanitari perché solo gli uomini hanno diritto di ritirarli.

Le donne non hanno più accesso ai contraccettivi, non possono comprare una sim né andare in un salone di bellezza perché ormai sono chiusi.

E l’ultimo divieto, forse il più assurdo e crudele, è che non è consentito loro di farsi curare da un dottore di sesso maschile, e dato che le donne non possono più accedere all’università e diventare dottoresse, il risultato è che è ormai impossibile per le afghane avere un’assistenza sanitaria.

Il problema è che la luce l’hanno spenta non solo gli americani, che due anni fa hanno abbandonato l’Afghanistan in mano ai talebani, l’abbiamo spenta anche noi, dimenticandoci di loro, pensando che la cosa non ci riguardi, che sono questioni interne senza riflessi sul resto del mondo.

Errore gravissimo perché le ideologie sono come il vento che quando inizia a soffiare non sai mai in che direzione andrà, quali incendi propagherà e cosa si porterà dietro.

L’integralismo dei talebani però oramai lo conosciamo bene e sappiamo quanto la loro misoginia e l’accanimento contro la vita delle donne possano essere un modello pericoloso e una tentazione per molti regimi autoritari.

Le donne afghane sono state spesso definite eroine per la loro forza e resilienza ma alcune cominciano purtroppo a crollare. Le bambine non capiscono perché a loro sono precluse alcune attività che ai fratelli maschi sono consentite.

Alberto Cairo, che lavora lì per Nove Onlus, ha raccontato su Repubblica di un padre disperato che per consolare le figlie così depresse da piangere tutto il giorno si è visto costretto ad indebitarsi per portarle qualche giorno in vacanza e regalare loro un minimo di speranza.

Shabnam Nasimi, attivista afghana ed ex consulente del ministero inglese per il Reinsediamento e per quello dei Rifugiati, in un articolo per il Guardian mette in guardia dalla “sconcertante narrativa che suggerisce che i talebani siano forieri di sicurezza e stabilità”.

E racconta come il 31 luglio il Dipartimento di Stato americano ha rilasciato una dichiarazione su un incontro tra funzionari Usa e alti esponenti talebani riconoscendo che c’è stata una diminuzione degli attacchi terroristici su larga scala contro i civili afghani.

Ma se gli attentati nei mercati o nei centri delle città sono diminuiti, sono invece aumentate le gravi violazioni dei diritti umani contro le donne, le minoranze e chi si oppone al regime. E tutto sotto il nostro silenzio e la nostra indifferenza.

Nei mesi scorsi le ragazze iraniane che, dopo l’uccisione di Mahsa Amini, sfilavano nelle piazze sfidando il regime autoritario degli ayatollah, erano sulle prime pagine di tutti i giornali internazionali.

Ora non ne parla più nessuno, nel frattempo anche se il numero delle ragazze uccise è aumentato, sono tornate ad essere invisibili.

Ma fino a quando ci sarà anche solo un Paese del mondo dove le donne vengono discriminate, osteggiate e represse, il problema non può essere solo loro, è anche nostro!

Mentre noi di "Close Guantánamo" continuiamo la nostra serie di profili dei prigionieri ancora detenuti a Guantánamo - e in particolare, in questo momento, degli afgani ancora detenuti - il nostro ultimo profilo è quello di Abdul Ghani, uno sfortunato abitante della provincia di Kandahar, che coltivava melograni e si occupava di rottami metallici, che è stato sequestrato nel novembre 2002 ed è arrivato a Guantánamo nove anni fa.

È allarmante che Abdul Ghani sia stato uno dei prigionieri afghani insignificanti proposti per un processo da parte di una commissione militare sotto il presidente Bush nel 2008. Le autorità sostenevano che avesse partecipato ad attacchi e pianificato attentati nell'ambito dell'insurrezione contro le forze statunitensi, sebbene Ghani stesso e i suoi avvocati abbiano sempre contestato il suo presunto coinvolgimento.

Perché non rilasciare Abdul Ghani?

Abdul Ghani è nato intorno al gennaio 1972 a Khoshab, un piccolo villaggio nella provincia di Kandahar, in Afghanistan. Nel villaggio, che dista circa 45 minuti a piedi dall'aeroporto di Kandahar, vivono circa 400 persone.

Prima della sua cattura, Abdul coltivava e si arrangiava per sbarcare il lunario raccogliendo pomengranati e metalli da rivendere nei mercati locali. Parla il pashtu, la lingua nativa di tutta la provincia, e un po' di arabo, e ha due fratelli che sono attivi nella comunità locale. Uno è l'imam del villaggio.

Nel novembre 2002, Abdul Ghani è stato sequestrato dal suo villaggio e venduto alle forze statunitensi per una somma di denaro non specificata. Una volta in custodia degli Stati Uniti, ha trascorso quattro mesi in una prigione afghana, dove è stato costretto a subire un duro trattamento, prima di essere trasferito a Guantánamo Bay il 23 marzo 2003, dove rimane tuttora. È stato detenuto per nove anni senza processo e la scorsa settimana è trascorso il nono anniversario del suo arrivo a Guantánamo, senza che tutti se ne accorgessero, tranne la sua famiglia e i suoi avvocati.

The kingdom of Afghanistan was no different, and in January 1955, Aryana Airlines was established, with the government of Afghanistan owning a controlling interest. Ariana resumed international flights in 2002. However, in 2006, the EU banned Ariana from flying to Europe, citing maintenance and security concerns. As of this writing, the ban has yet to be lifted, and with Afghanistan’s continued political turmoil, Ariana’s future remains in doubt.  YA-LAS was delivered to Ariana in 1979 and flew with them until 1985, when it was sold to British Caledonian. It was converted to a cargo aircraft and started a new career with Centurion Air Cargo from 2004 to 2010, was retired, and was last known to be in storage at Opa-Locka Airport in 2016.
