it's so crazy to me- even in a meta sense you can feel the absence, because bad has been on the server off-stream from morning to night basically every day since the reset. like you would just see him meandering around the server, in the tablist, helping and trading and meeting with people early in the morning. and now he's not, and like qPhil right now, unless you know what happened you might not notice. But if you know you KNOW. he's not here. he's always here, and he's not here.

Bad, eternally awake, eternally dependable. If people needed something, they asked him. If eggs needed to be cared for and nobody else was available, he was there. And even after all that has happened, even if he's a trickster, a prankster, a liar, people KNEW he was dependable, especially with the eggs.

He was that background hum of a dependable appliance that you forget about until it goes silent, and you notice something's wrong, but you aren't quite able to figure out just what.

I can’t believe that people are still like no one in Space Seed knew who Khan Noonien Singh was; no one recognized him. I probably complained about this before, but now with quotes lol

Space Seed:

Kirk isn’t the type of a person who would immediately accuse someone of being XXX (see The Conscience of the King). He needs a proof.

KIRK: Would you estimate him to be a product of selective breeding? SPOCK: There is that possibility, Captain. His age would be correct. In 1993, a group of these young supermen did seize power simultaneously in over forty nations.

both of them suspected who Khan was before the dinner; we, as viewers, just aren’t told explicitly.

and then follows a scene where Khan visits McGivers who is in the middle of drawing the image of past Khan. As a ship’s historian, she also knew who he was because she heard the name Khan and made the connection.

Then the dinner happens and Kirk uses it to have Spock question Khan some more. He wants Khan to tell him who he is. And Khan slips.

And after the dinner, we get the scene in the briefing room, where Kirk finally says the full name: Khan Noonien Singh.

And McCoy and Scott both know their history and chime in.

That Khan later says: “Excellent. You identified me with your computer system, I imagine.” is just his assumption since he thinks Kirk is inferior to him. But ofc the computer helped.

In any case, Khan was known, and neither Spock or Kirk were ignorant.

Having a bestie.

What does the term bestie mean? Of course it means best friends and you can have more than one. You can have a whole planet of besties. The ones that stay year after year. You laugh, cry, have disagreements, but you always come back to each other, even after years apart sometimes. Having a bestie, near or far is coming home and the thrill that rushes through you knowing that you get to see them or talk to them, that sudden rush of such joy that they are there. they are the ones who will message you at 2 in the morning, but it's late or early for them and then apologise, but you don't care because they need you or want to send you best wishes on your birthday. Time zones be damned. They are the ones who will sit there watching as you type something to them, read it and offer better advice than any doctor or counsellor can ever do. They are the ones who ask "are you okay" when you go missing for more than five minutes because it feels like you have vanished off the face of the earth and that simply is not done. They are the ones who will sit and be happy for when you take up a new hobby, ask about your day, indulge in such random stuff and they get it, they really do and you feel validation in you life at being understood! They are the ones who will sit there with you, physically or not and will listen as your pour out your heart to them, vent to them about what is going on in the world and more importantly, your life and will offer hugs and distractions. They are the ones known as besties and I'm glad I have found mine. @vislokawitch
