Starting to think that the bots in the second trailer actually contain dead BBs, either in their abdominal cavities (since the light emitted from them is reminiscent to BB pods) or in the coffin-shaped containers on their backs because when you see one of the bots deploy that dog robot, the humanoid bot’s head turns into the shape of an odradek—which also shares the same shape as the robot samurai’s head—but also when Sam aims his gun at one of them his odradek starts spinning as well which in the first game indicates the presence of BTs, and we already saw Lou get killed and turn into what is probably a BT, so the bots are likely controlled by BB BTs. Maybe they’re the sacrificial BBs that Bridges used to connect each city, as is mentioned when we get to Edge Knot. Also since the first game focused more on bodies without souls (e.g. Amelie/Bridget, Deadman, Mama), I think the second game might focus on souls without bodies, and I think these souls will be anchored to the world of the living through artificial bodies, such as the puppet, the robots, and probably Higgs’ new body as well. One more thing with the odradeks, but during the fight with Higgs and the robot samurai in the closeup shot where their weapons cross we see the robot’s odradek-head start flapping which is what happened when BTs where in the area in the first game, so again thinking that Higgs’ soul has been placed in that new body and his real body is somewhere else.

I've always thought they were an interesting pairing, and drawing them has been on my drafts for a while! if Higgs is the masked character, my headcanons are:

He worships Amelie so much that he decided to start a religion around her

He thinks he can be Amelie but better

Higgs was "seduced by her powers", but he could've been seduced by her in general. She's beautiful and powerful, and also happens to be blonde. (If Higgs and Fragile dated briefly, we see her old hairstyle is similar to Amelie's)

His powers are triggered by death, while Amelie can be interpreted as death/extinction personified. So it makes sense that he would idolize and/or be drawn to her. This is why I drew her in color and gave her a golden halo, like in religious paintings.

I've wanted to draw this gorgeous statue for a ship ever since I saw a picture of it:

I also hc that under their fatalism and talk of extinction, they both long for connections and companionship still.

I'm so excited for DS2! I don't know their ship name but maybe GoldenEntity for now?

I'm wondering if DS2 might have a "whale fall" motif. Since whale falls are such monnumental moments in the life of a sea ecosystem, and Amelie, the most powerful being of the ecosystem, so to speak, has "died"... BTs in DS1 looked distinctly marine life-like, squids, dolphins, a whale, jellyfish, the only exception was Higgs' lion-thing, but even then its "true" face kinda looked like a barnacle underneath. We only saw one BT up close for now, but it kinda looks like a mixture of a hand and a hermit crab, don't it? I wonder if other new BTs will have that "human body part mixed with a marine creature" vibe, I think that it would be cool. The only other BT we saw is the flying one in the shot where the moon is so close, but it's too far to say anything about what it's based on. I see a bit of a flying fish in it? But it's difficult to say.

And I'm sticking with my theory that Higgs' back-arm looks a bit like a hagfish, a type of primitive fish that feeds on carrion and is often seen after a whale fall.
