An update!
Here is a smaller background quickly produced in a couple of days. There are 2 versions of each background in this scene so that the light can flicker from the flame in the lamp.

Forgotten Guardians
None have worked in centuries, still I find their gaze disquieting.

I found this diner booth drawing I started two years ago and set about finishing it. (Stock photo model in there keeping Billy company for now. )
Then I did a background from a different angle, different diner. Threw a beat-up looking Billy in there for scale.
To be finished at some point.
It sat on my hard drive like this for years. I just bailed on it before even giving him arms. At least he's cheerful. An old-style Billyface with a canonically incorrect pointed nose and very uneven ears. Disgusting.
here's the original stock photo I was drawing from...
Those booths look nasty. Terrible upholstery . Weird dude skulking in the background and baffling vanishing points.
Second diner background modeled on this shot taken from a local news story of a couple visiting every diner in New Jersey

First finished background for my first animation project for college.
I'm really proud of this one, it was a bunch of work with the help of my bg design teacher. Hopefully all of them will be as good
