The quiet racism of the DC Comics letters page in 1968
The first letter full on suggests giving the main character a neanderthal as a pet.
The third letter lists prehistoric humans as Neanderthal, white, and American Indian.

Solitary pleasures will always exist, but for most human beings, the most pleasurable activities almost always involve sharing something: music, food, liquor, drugs, gossip, drama, beds.

ive seen people praying to technoblade and making shrines for him and rituals associated with him and whatnot and i’m actually interested in whether this would be considered (in a very simplified and informal way) the formation of a “god” so to speak

*this is just about having medical needs that would have meant death without modern medicine, so no ‘I’d probably die from not being able to distinguish the blur as a lion’ we have a healthy caveman squad who cares for each other, we just also dont have, yknow, penicilin. etcetera.
pls reblog for sample size etc
follow for more occasional useless polls :)

ANCESTORAL VALUES
If I were an anthropological visiting this organization for the first time, I would use the worksheet to start a methodical investigation of its culture. This hypothetical evaluation was created using the prompts:
Tumblr media
HEROES & LEGENDS :
Explicit Heroes: The organization may publicly recognize and celebrate leaders or teams who have achieved notable success.
Implicit Heroes: Informal conversations and narratives may reveal individuals or groups who, though not officially acknowledged, are admired and seen as legends within the organization.
Tumblr media
SAYINGS AND LANGUAGES :
It's common to hear the phrase "Teamwork Makes the Dream Work." This indicates that they truly like it when others collaborate to accomplish goals.
2. Another proverb that expresses their concern for fresh concept and their desire for everyone to be imaginative and adaptable is "Innovate or Stagnate."
Tumblr media
CUSTOMS:
The Monthly BIZ Cafe, a relaxed gathering where employees from different departments share ideas over coffee, fostering cross-functional relationships.
Tumblr media
VALUES AND BELIEFS:
Values:
Explicit Values: The organization may officially state values such as customer satisfaction, innovation, or efficiency.
Implicit Values: Through observation, I might notice an unspoken emphasis on speed, adaptability, or a particular approach to risk-taking that is not explicitly outlined in official documents.
Tumblr media
ARTIFACTS:
Official Artifacts: Physical objects like awards, branded items, or a signature coffee mug might hold official significance.
Unofficial Artifacts: Personal decorations, desk setups, or even the layout of the workspace can be symbolic artifacts that reflect the organization's culture. For instance, a prominently placed espresso machine could signify a commitment to quick decision-making. Completing this worksheet individually allows me to immerse myself in the organization's culture, recognizing both the explicit and implicit elements that contribute to its unique identity. The information gathered can be crucial for understanding the deeper aspects of the organization's culture and informing future strategies or interventions.

Listen if the study of ancient humans doesn’t make you at least a little bit emotional idk what to say.
I started crying today at the museum because they had reconstructed the shoes of Otzi the iceman.
Tumblr media
Either he or someone he knew who cared about him made these shoes out of grass and bear skin and twine and he was wearing them when he died over five thousand years ago.
And a Czech researcher and his students did reconstructions of these shoes and wore them to the same place where he died to test them out and they were like yep! These shoes are really cozy and comfy and didn’t give us blisters while hiking!
Is that not just the coolest shit ever????

you want a new kind of guy, fine, i raise you: the lady i was briefly roommates with in college who once smoked a blunt at a party and then spent an hour confessing earnestly to me that she genuinely preferred reading detailed episode recaps over actually watching the tv show in question

playing fallout new vegas and having to listen to caesar complaining about travelling and getting to study the languages of various communities living in the wasteland and calling it a waste of time while irl the humanities are constantly disregarded and getting a higher education and opportunities to study anthropology hands-on costs tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars and requires so many connections and he was just getting that FOR FREE from the followers but that wasnt cool enough for him so he decided to use the education he was given to start his little fascist larper group and enslave people

"The myth that female reproductive capabilities somehow render them incapable of gathering any food products beyond those that cannot run away does more than just underestimate Paleolithic women. It feeds into narratives that the contemporary social roles of women and men are inherent and define our evolution. Our Paleolithic ancestors lived in a world where everyone in the band pulled their own weight, performing multiple tasks. It was not a utopia, but it was not a patriarchy."
