"how come you ship monodeku but you hate bakudeku? they are the same thing" NO THEY ARE NOOOOOTTTTTTTTTT SCREAMS AND RIPS MY HAIR OUT.
I've had to deal with the Monoma being viewed as some off brand Bakugo issue for so long now, it's time I complain about it.
the only reason people compare the two is because Monoma is blonde and mean. but they are so different from each other and its insane that people don't acknowledge that.
Monoma actually cares about and gets along well with his classmates. he is soley rude to 1-a BECAUSE of Bakugo. even though Bakugo is better in the more recent arcs about teamwork and such, he didn't get along with his class (because he didn't want to.) another thing is how Monoma is / was a victim of quirk discrimination while Bakugo WAS A QUIRK DISCRIMINATOR. Bakugo had no reason for the things he did / the way he acted, he was canonly spoiled as a child. meanwhile Monoma actually has issues linked to his behavior (ex: getting bullied).
and monodeku being "the same thing" as bakudeku is a stupid claim. Bakugo bullied and abused Izuku for a decade. Monoma just shits on 1-A.
Monoma is basically what the fandom THINKS Bakugo is. someone who got hurt as a child and now takes it out on others to feel better about themselves. because Monoma does not think he is better than 1-A. he doesn't think he is strong. he was told that he will always be stuck on the sidelines and even though he says different that feeling is still there.

Let's Talk About Izuku and Bakugou's Relationship
Happy New Year, everyone! Thought I'd kick 2024 off with a new post. I haven't written an in-depth analysis in a while, so I figured now was a good time.
So, I've touched on this before, many times in fact. If you've seen my other posts, you know that I think that the BKDK relationship is a clusterfuck of codependency, abuse, and toxicity. But I don't think I've ever analyzed it frame-by-frame, so here's an attempt.
Childhood
Tumblr media
The lake scene has the most focus than any other flashback in the series. It's meant to show us why Bakugou hated Izuku; he assumed Izuku looked down on him and saw him as weak. It's supposed to support the idea that Bakugou has an inferiority complex that's been present since he was a kid and that's why he lashes out at Izuku and wants to be rid of him. Because Izuku makes him feel weak.
But this isn't true. Or, it doesn't paint the whole picture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing the lake scene seems to gloss over is the fact that Bakugou was always mean to Izuku. Maybe he wasn't as harsh and could be written off as just a kid being a kid, but he still made fun of him. He still went out of his way to make him feel bad about himself and humiliate him. He called him "Deku" way before either of them were (or weren't) given a quirk.
And he only ever did this to Izuku, not the other kids part of his posse. He, even at such a young age, saw Izuku as an easy target, someone he could easily shove around because he knew Izuku wouldn't fight back (this would persist for the next ten years).
Tumblr media
It's important to note that there's only one instance where Bakugou's behavior towards Izuku turns violent. It's when Izuku defends a kid that Bakugou and his posse are picking on. This is the moment where Bakugou becomes physically aggressive; not when he found out Izuku was quirkless, during the lake, or any time before. It's here, when Izuku stops being the defenseless wimp who won't stand up to him. He doesn't like that Izuku stepped out of the mold he had confined him to (I'll come back to this later).
The truth of their childhood together is that Bakugou was always inherently awful to Izuku. It wasn't like he experienced one bad moment that flipped a switch, Bakugou liked picking on Izuku from day one.
Middle School
Tumblr media
There isn't much to say about their days at Aldera other than it's just a progression of escalation from their childhood. They've settled into their roles as abuser and victim. Bakugou knows he can say and do whatever he wants and Izuku won't defend himself because it's been the status quo for a decade.
Tumblr media
He revels in that power he has over him, likes to remind Izuku of his "place." And if he steps out of line, Bakugou exerts that power over him to shut him right down, stressing his inability to do anything about his situation. It's a cycle of abuse.
Deku vs Kacchan Part 1
Tumblr media
I've already talked about this scene before, but this is also another example as to what I was alluding to above.
As @delawaredetroit pointed out in a post from a while ago, Bakugou isn't feeling betrayed here. He himself has said time and time again that he and Izuku weren't friends. He cares about the fact that his victim now has power of his own.
All their lives, Bakugou had the power and Izuku was powerless. That was the dynamic they were used to and the one that Bakugou was aware and repeatedly took advantage of. But now, Izuku isn't powerless or defenseless. He no longer fits the mold that Bakugou had tied him to since childhood. That's why Bakugou is so upset; not because Izuku kept something from him but because the power imbalance between was shifting.
And it's why he tries to use guilt-tripping here. He wants Izuku to feel bad, wants to reestablish some of the control over him he just lost. And it works, because Izuku tells him he inherited his quirk completely unprompted after the fact. Bakugou knows he has the power in their relationship and has no issues abusing that power.
Sports Festival
Tumblr media
I don't have much to say here, but I would like to point out something very inconsistent concerning Bakugou's interpretation of his relationship with Izuku. He claims that Izuku kept following him around and that he couldn't get rid of him, which attributed to his dislike. But even if that was true when they were 5, it's actually the opposite at least from middle school on.
Bakugou went out of his way to target Izuku in the first chapter/episode. He also tracked him down after the Sludge Villain incident. He's initiated every one of their confrontations in UA. And here, he deliberately eavesdropped on Izuku's conversation with Todoroki.
I don't know whether to call it hypocrisy or ignorance, but Izuku was content to leave Bakugou alone. Bakugou's the one who's constantly harassing and obsessing over him.
Final Exams
Tumblr media
Izuku daring to display confidence and competence invokes immediate physical violence in Bakugou. He doesn't like that Izuku is talking to him like he's an equal, he doesn't like that Izuku dares to step outside of his role as a victim. Bakugou wants Izuku to act like he's below him and gets agitated when he doesn't do that. He, in this moment, cared more about putting Izuku in his place than his own grade.
Deku vs Kacchan Part 2
Tumblr media
I mentioned that BKDK is codependent in the beginning of the post. This is what I mean.
Bakugou can't cope with the fact that he isn't the best and takes it out on the only target he has. Izuku had nothing to do with his shortcomings, but he still felt the need to establish superiority over him; a grasp for some measure of control.
Like I said above, he's well aware of the power he has over Izuku. Do you think he would have tried this with Todoroki? Or Tokoyami? Or Iida? No, because he knows that none of them would have even dignified him with a response. But he knows he can control Izuku in a way he can't with other people. He feels comfortable treating only Izuku as his emotional and physical punching bag.
The Apology
Tumblr media
It's interesting that prior to apologizing for treating him badly, Bakugou proceeds to treat Izuku badly.
This interaction is important because it's their first major conflict after Bakugou's "redemption." We're supposed to be at the point where he's changed. But he still resorts to insults and goading. His first instinct is still to put Izuku down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've said most of what I needed to about the apology. But I do want to mention that coming from Bakugou's mouth, it grossly understates what happened during those ten years. Because the abuser is the one telling the story, his transgressions don't seem that bad. He's the one controlling the narrative, so his classmates- Izuku's friends- don't know the full story. They don't know what Bakugou put Izuku through. Bakugou comes off looking sympathetic to their peers by speaking "his truth."
Was this his intention? Probably not as Bakugou doesn't really care what others think about him. But it does raise the point that this is the extent as to how Bakugou sees his past self; as a stubborn, overzealous child and not the abuser that he was

Bakugou's quirk makes zero sense
A lot of this has to do with Horikoshi giving Bakugou ridiculous upgrades so he can "keep up" with a quirk that has been growing exponentially over generations, which should not even be attempted. It just makes One for All seem less impressive.
In the battle trials, Bakugou used his support gauntlets to create an explosion that was around the same size as the one he pulled out of nowhere in the sports festival. After he'd fought earlier, literally winning with the fact that quirks gets tired over time. His quirk drawbacks are rarely used and only used to make him look better. It just feels cheap.
Again with the sports festival, if his quirk is based on palm sweat, how did he have anything to explode when Shoto iced him???
Do Bakugou's explosions create or dispell smoke? It's always the same chemical reaction, so that shouldn't change at all. Make up your mind, Hori.
He uses it to fly by having the force push him in the opposite direction. So why does that never happen when he's using it otherwise???
Not to mention how dumb it is that he can apparently change how much light vs sound it produces.
It's just annoying when Horikoshi changes the rules of his quirk constantly to push the rivalry that doesn't even exist.
(Seriously, the save to win vs win to save thing when Izuku literally does both anyway and it's just Bakugou that needs work is so annoying)
I could go deeper into this but I don't have the energy.

She SERIOUSLY still believes that bakugou is inside ofa, that he and izuku will proclaim their love for each other in the vestige world and beat tomura together as a romantic couple, completly ignoring the fact that its not izukus wish to beat tomura in the first place but to STOP and SAFE him, that bakugou already was given the "honour" to kill the actual main villain (which was utter bullshit!) and so its izukus moment to shine now, that while izuku is losing the ofa vestiges he is literally gaining the afo quirk in the same moment (holes in his hands), because he is fucking afos son and he doesnt even NEED fucking bakugous help in the vestige world and that this is about IZUKU and TOMURA!!!
She even confirmed she knows nothing about tomura to even memorize anything about his character and calls the vestiges, people who care for izuku and always tried to help him "creepy old people", despite that SHE is the one shipping an ABUSER with his victim and having fantasies about two minor teenage boys fucking each other! Why you wonder? Because she already said in the past she doesnt read the chapters bakugou is not in and only reads the spoilers. HOW can people be so blinded by a ship and actually FOLLOW someone like her on xitter, believing the bullshit she is spreading! She will have a VERY BAD awakening very soon and I cant wait for her shitstorm as soon as the manga is finished and that whole bkdk nonsense can finally be put to rest. And you can bet she will blame hori for trolling bkdk shippers instead of just accepting the fact that she COMPLETLY misunderstands izukus and bakugous relationship by not really properly reading the manga in the first place (only chapters with bakugou in it!)
If I were a bkdk shipper I would feel so much second hand embarrassment reading her posts! Huge respect to all the sane bkdk shippers who actually call her out on her delusions!

Your stupid Gary Stu of a character had his moment of the fanbase being heartbroken and sad for him. Either give Izuku the respect he deserves or STFU. LET THE MC BE ACKNOWLEDGED IN THE STORY ABOUT HIM AND STOP MAKING EVERYTHING ABOUT IZUKU ALSO ABOUT THE SHITSTAIN, STAGNANT, OVERRATED AUTHOR’S PET!

"I wish we could have been friends. That's all what I wanted the most. But ever since your Quirk manifested, you began to bully me. You abused me, you harassed me, and you made me feel unsafe whenever you were around. You made my life a living hell. All because I was diagnosed as Quirkless. But I'm not angry with you. I thought I would be. And I was. But then I realized that it would only make me unhappy. And after being unhappy whenever I'm with you for so long, I would never choose to feel that way again. I've accepted that we aren't friends, and that we never will be. I've also accepted that I cannot forget those years that you were cruel to me. I forgive you, Bakugō. I'm not angry with you; if anything, I pity you. You can't know happiness if your life is built around anger. For your sake, I hope your heart changes."

(NGL, I feel like this is something Izuku would say if he recognizes their toxic/unhealthy relationship & made the decision to completely cut off ties with Bakugō)
Gosh this would have been so satisfying to read in canon if it happened after ‘bk vs izu 2’, especially if AM was listening in and he realised that they truly are not friends or ‘rivals’.
Shame that canon didn’t go like that, we’ll always have fanfics though…
(Not so subtle *hint hint, nudge nudge*)

I was talking with @bebaiscool132 and I brought up something I wanted to share.
There is a common theme in fanfics to make Bakugou this desirable being who is rich, smart and powerful. It's very common in BakuDeku fics where everyone wants Bakugou and look down on Izuku for being poor, plain or whatever. Especially in stories where Ochako is a gold-digging woman. Each time I find this just frustrating. Not just because I don’t like Bakugou, but because of how people treat Izuku.
He's always this just... Plain person who only is found beautiful by Bakugou and who is so sad or whatever all the time. He's treated badly by the narrative as people insist Bakugou is dating down. I can't stand it because like… if you all hate Izuku that much why are you reading the manga or writing the story?
It's frustrating and that's why one of my fav personal tropes I keep playing with in various shorts is the idea Bakugou thinks this is true but in reality everyone wants Izuku. I did a poll recently about the whole ‘toxic relationship’ stuff and mentioned the ‘open relationship’ thing we often see where someone insists on opening the relationship but gets nothing while their partner is dating multiple people. And the more I think on it the more I go: I find this so real.
But anyway: the constant upraising of Bakugou over Izuku even when people ship them is ridiculous. Plus when you use Gold Digging Ochako. He's not that rich, if she was a gold digger she’d go for Shouto or Momo or Iida. Not this guy.

Like many have said, there is a clear disconnection between Izuku and 1-A, and he’s only really friends with like four of them (five counting Bakugo, unfortunately…). Everyone else is an acquaintance to him at best. Yet the Dark Hero arc wants us to think they are all close friends.
I just wish that the series focused more on Izuku’s positive friendships and gave him more, rather than just focusing on his toxic friendship with Bakugo, which has the consequence of reducing the other classmates’ screentime. We were robbed of so much (actual) character development.
You really hit the mark with this.
It's one thing that really gets on my nerves. The only meaningful relationship Izuku can have in the story is with his childhood bully who still takes every chance to insult and belittle him.
Barely any time with Iida and Todoroki who were the only ones concerned about him during Overhaul.
Barely any time with Uraraka who was his first friend.
Barely any time with Aoyama, who took it upon himself to offer empathy and friendship.
Barely any (one-on-one) time with his mentor/father figure.
Barely any time with Eri, who loves and admires him.
Barely any time with Mirio who cares for and supports him.
Izuku has so many relationships that could be explored. But the only one Hori cares about is shoehorning Bakugou into every arc and the only way he can do that is through Izuku. He needs Izuku as a tool for Bakugou's development.
And it's sad because I probably would have liked Bakugou's redemption a lot more if Izuku didn't have to suffer for it to happen

God, I wish. Unfortunately, our protagonist and the narrative would never let that happen. After all, they're rivals.

Hypocrisy
It's always frustrating when characters get mad at Izuku hurting himself with One for All but never get mad at Bakugou for hurting Izuku. And the characters that get mad at Izuku for hurting himself don't even offer any help! No, Aizawa, telling a kid to stop having quirk side effects does not help them learn to avoid them.
All Might may be bad at teaching, but at least he doesn't get mad at Izuku for not being able to control One for All perfectly like he could.
The teachers don't care if Bakugou punches Izuku in the face for no good reason, insults him constantly, drags him outside to beat him up, stabs him with pieces of his costume... but the minute Izuku gets hurt while using One for All they act like he failed in some way. It isn't necessarily wrong to say that he failed to keep himself whole, but you don't get to be upset at someone else for being in pain when you knew and did nothing to help prevent it.
This one is short because I should get back to writing what I'm supposed to be writing

Apologies for disturbing you, and I promise this won’t be a natural occurrence, but I just remember the post you said about how a “particular individual” doesn’t read the chapters that doesn’t have Bakugou, and is so wrapped in her own delusions with her favorite ship, that I just HAD to add more to the fact she really is so caught up in her own fantasy land that she had THIS tweet.
Tumblr media
Like…does she not remember what DEKU was? She is either the master of trolls, and is pulling us all for the ride, or she is so far gone and is a complete joke.
Oh dont worry, you are not disturbing me at all! 🤗
Oh my god I remember that post of hers and back then my reaction was a mix of this
Tumblr media
This
Tumblr media
And this
Tumblr media
And the most moronic thing about this is that not only does she ignore that the nickname "deku" bakugou gave izuku is like one of the cruelest insults you can give a person with a physical disability, she also ignores that it was OCHAKO who turned that horrible nickname into something positive which inspired izuku and that THIS is the reason why he IMMEDIATELY tells ochako that she can call him deku from now on (while clearly showing his huge crush on her), because NOW thanks to OCHAKO the name means something positiv, but when bakugou calls him by that nickname he has NOTHING positiv in mind!
She pretends that it was bakugou who gave the name "deku" that positiv meaning because in her delulu bakudeku fantasy world bakugou was always in love with izuku so he never meant the nickname as an insult despite the story CLEARLY pointing that out! And the saddest part is that her hivemind of a follwership on xitter actually buys all of that! Its already bad enough if you have one of them spreading all that nonsense, but even more if a few hundred people clearly show that their reading comprehension is also as non existent!

Midoriya better than me bc if some guy harassed me for 10+ years bc of something I had no control over (and due to the fact I'm a minority of several categories this has been the case☠️), all throughout elementary and middle school essentially telling me I was worthless and useless (as well as telling me to kill myself ☠️) and the teachers not doing jack shit, only to continue this aggressive behavior in HIGH SCHOOL where the teachers still don't do anything.
Not only that but a teacher and like 2 other students have beef with me bc I was "blessed" with a flashy quirk so therefore I must think I'm hotshit.
OH and it turns out the guy that's been harassing me since I was FIVE did it bc he was insecure and thought I was looking down on him :( I would've never accepted that bum ass apology, 10+ years and all I get is that shitty ass lil speech☠️?? Imma need an apology party with a cake, 5 presents MINIMUM, and I want that apology in written and song&dance form, then maybe, MAYBE, I'll CONSIDER forgiving you☠️
