Breathing into a paperbag thinking about the possibility of Elbaf digging the conflict from Water 7 back up again and maybe exploring some long-term repercussions of Luffy and Usopp’s fight that not even they themselves were aware of and and and and and-

LISTEN. the Water 7 Saga absolutely rewired the way I understood the crew and how each member views themselves and the roles they play. And it’s been some time since the Strawhat’s exploration of the New World has allowed them to really take time and consider themselves and each other like that again.

And Elbaf just sounds (MUAH) like such a wonderful opportunity to do exactly that, it sounds perfect, primarily in the way it ties all the way back to the Strawhat’s early days on the Grand Line. And when you look at the presence of the Giant Pirates in Little Garden and Enies Lobby, what they share is that both times the Giants Served the purpose mirroring the conflicts between the crewmates and highlighting the importance of loyalty and comradery. Shit writes itself. Come on Elbaf don’t let me down. Come on Usopp I know you can hit us with another world shattering arc just take the stage love.

#remember when Dorry and Brogy’s story served to introduce us to Zoro and Sanji’s rivalry #by showing that even though they fight constantly theyd break if they lost each other and deep down they are still crew #and now we have an unresolved death pact looming over the two of them #Remember when Kashi and Oimo taught Usopp that the cost of loyalty can b great and harrowing but it is beyond rewarding for the right perso #just when he was doubting wether he was truly strong enough to stand at Luffy’s side or at all capable of the bravery needed to be a pirate #and now he’s going to have to look these friends and allies in the eye and be the one to show them all that his decision to remain- #-a Strawhat has brought him #when asked to look at his journey so far and ask himself if he’s truly reached his ideals will he be able to smile wide and say yes? #or will the seeds of doubt and anxiety start planting themselves in his heart again? #hell you know what would be rlly cool for me. If throughout this arc EVERYONE began losing themselves to their own doubts BUT him #Like okay okay thats an exaggeration but do you get what I mean? #Usopp staying calm and collecting and making tough calls and getting back up again all without realizing- #-that he’s truly acting like the Captain he always wanted to be #thatd be so good. god i hope this upcoming arc hits harder than crack #one piece #elbaf #usopp #monkey d. luffy #strawhat pirates

Most likely like this^ Especially if they’re napping smooshed tg on the couch—note: there is plenty of room for them both to fit comfortably—but he was laying there first she came to snuggle while he read and now they’ve ended up like this 

For the most part she’s probably more or less on top of him—she likes to sleep on her tummy. And be all smooshed it’s comforting and a snake thing

3. "Everyone makes mistakes, it's okay."

"Hey, August, your dad said I'd find you..." Emma trails off, stopping halfway through the door as she takes in the scene before her. "...here. What are you guys doing?"

To Marco's credit, his son is, in fact, sitting in the shed just like the man had said. The only issue is that he's not alone - in fact, a swooping three of the kids in his care are crowded around him, typewriter pushed to the side as they peer at something taking center place on the table.

August looks up from it momentarily to shoot her a slight grin, which does nothing to soothe her confusion. "Scientific research."

"On a lamp? Thought that had been patented a while ago."

"Yes, but this is a monad lamp. We're trying to figure out if there's actually a cricket in here."

Emma's gaze moves to the object in question, eyebrows raised. "And that other guy's letting you? Isn't this literally attached to his hip most of the time?"

"We traded for the day!" The smallest of the puppets chirps excitedly, all but bouncing on August's knee. "Gina's showing him around, and we get to hang out with Gemini!"

"I see."

The problem with these kids, in Emma's mind, is that while they might have fairly contrasting personalities, there's something in them that betrays their connection even at first glance. Cedar's a sweet girl and the strange one with the metal arm is prone to brooding, and the two younger boys (she needs to find better nicknames to differentiate them than Big One and Little One, honestly - they bring to mind Tweedledee and Tweedledum, sometimes, but they'd probably take offense to that) are just unruly children like any other, and still they all share faint traces of past events that make her understand August a little bit more.

Right now, for example, the man has got a boy perched on his lap and Cedar leaning onto his shoulder, the other boy sitting on the tabletop with his ruined legs dangling over the edge, and yet they're all looking at her like they're about to tell her to take a leap of faith...or blow something up and ask her for help, at least, given Big Pinocchio's tendencies and those of the guy they call P. Emma should be backing away before it's too late, honestly.

"Doesn't that thing talk, anyway?" She hears herself asking instead, as if that were the most pressing matter. "Can't you just ask?"

"He's recharging," Cedar replies, ever the most helpful of them all. "That's why P left him at home. Grandfather said Gemini's not allowed to be around us unsupervised anymore, since the last time he tried to teach some nasty words to-"

"Hey!" The Pinocchio sitting on the table glares at her, a thunderous look on his face. "That's none of your business! Don't be a snitch!"

"It's not snitching if it's true! You only want to know because you've got a point to prove, anyway."

The boy sniffs haughtily, turning away. "I don't need to prove anything. I'm right. We've all got a cricket, so P should have one too."

"You're wrong. I never got a cricket, and Dad doesn't have one either-"

Emma can clearly see August barely stifling a laugh, the bastard. "Don't let Jiminy hear you say that, Cedar- I can assure you, he helped me quite a lot before he got a degree."

"I don't have a cricket," the little one says, beaming, seemingly unbothered by the squabble. "I just have Gina."

"Gina counts."

"Gina does not count, she's a duck." Cedar sighs, shaking her head of dark curls. "Why are you so worried about this, anyway? Your cricket isn't here, either."

One would expect Big Pinocchio to have a snappish retort for that, as well, and yet, none comes. Instead he seems to curl even further into himself, his glower even deeper, like a turtle tucking head and tail into its shell. "Yeah, but he was there," he mutters, much lower than before. "No one else could see him, so they thought I was making him up, but I wasn't. He was real, and I wasn't crazy."

The two adults exchange a look, the mood grown a tad more somber all of a sudden. This, perhaps, is the other thing these children have in common, and it's much less amusing than the first one - they have had some awful experiences already, for being so young, and sometimes they mention it in such an offhanded way, it sounds like everyday stuff, like making the bed or running errands.

Maybe it was everyday stuff for them, before. That doesn't make it more reassuring, either.

"That's okay." August sounds softer, too, as he leans closer to the boy and tries to meet his eyes. "We know you're not crazy. Those boys in your old school- they didn't have the full picture. Everyone makes mistakes, when they don't have the full picture."

And that, a smidge more teasing, once he has finally gotten Pinocchio to look up: "And I mean everyone. You know, Emma here, she didn't believe I was made of wood, in the beginning. Guess who proved her wrong later."

"Seriously?" Emma exhales heavily, relieved that her friend has been able to handle the situation so well and yet resigned to the fact that August continues to be, well, himself. "You only butt into this argument to throw me to the wolves?"

"You wouldn't want me to get in the way of a scientific debate, do you?"

If this were a normal conversation between the two of them, she would tell him to stop being so cheeky; but as it is, there are three more people in the room with them right now, people who have barely stopped looking wary and guarded before returning to their analysis of an otherworldly piece of machinery. There is little Emma can do beside playing along, distracting them from whatever effects the past still has on them all. She owes them that, at least.

"Alright," she says, dragging a spare stool closer and finding a spot near the table, mindless to how Cedar moves to lean on her instead, as is the nature of things.

"Let's crack this, then. I came over to ask something else, but you guys got to me. Show me what you've got, Gemini."

OC alphabet soup game for K?

He's the lady of the castle in all but gender. The household servants defer to him as they would the lord's wife and he is their lord's spouse, and he's very well beloved by them which is a feat considering the fact that he barged into the castle and tried to strangle Shapur all those years ago.

Hey, grief makes you do unwise things. He thought Shapur was involved w the attack that killed his sister and brother-in-law.

He was the one chosen by Rajendra for the Adikalania, the duel before the gods, because Rajendra perceived Kazai's magical abilities as being blessed by some gods and hey, better to pick someone who is favored by the gods for this duel before the gods thing, even if it's not your own gods, right? And since Kazai had already grown infamous for being favored by the divine and a monster on the battlefield (to the point someone who knew about clan history would say “No wonder they were called divine weapons of the gods.”) Gadhevi freaked out as in canon and picked Bahadur in response.

Kazai won.

By ripping out Bahadur's throat with his teeth.

Shapur, who thought he was going to lose Kazai to this duel (because Kazai was being a tad too cautious w his magic lest he be accused of cheating and didn't know Bahadur couldn't feel pain he got quite injured), embraced him as soon as he could, not caring about the stares or the blood on Kazai's body— and let Kazai nestle his face in his neck to which people were like “????? dude did you not see what he did to that other guy's throat??? why tf are you letting him put his face near your neck????”

Back when Shapur was still trying to get Ayunnen and Kashi and Kazai to come with him to his castle Kazai was the only one who was just a little bit interested instead of scared like the other two were. Also, I don't know if I've talked about this before but he was born to a concubine of Some Rich Dude which the main wife Did Not Like and tried to kill him and his mom was trying to protect him and things went to shit and ended up w the main wife dead. Charged w murder, some huge punishment was waiting ahead for both the mom and her two little kids (3yo Kashi and infant Kazai), maybe enslavement, maybe imprisonment, I don't know, but things were grim until a sympathetic guard slipped them out and so they were on the run— and at some unspecified point the mother dies and Kashi has to contend w protecting Kazai all alone at like, toddler age. Also they got picked up and raised by wolves so... yeah. Feral little babies! Until somebody from the clan found them and took them in. Kashi chilled out somewhat (still terrifying in battle though, more like concentrated and stockpiled until she sees fit to release it) but Kazai's Wildness™ is less contained. Though many in the castle kinda perceived him as some sort of wildcat, the full potential of his feralness came out after Arslan got horribly maimed. He's angry and it shows.

His original birth name was not Kazai as Kashi's wasn't Kashi, they were something else entirely, Parsian names, but they both discarded it as society discarded them. Kazai wishes he remembered their mother.

They both inherited their mother's black hair. Everything else is up in the air but that much I am certain.

In the first ever ArSen AU I wrote (RHoG) I made Elam go all starry-eyed at Kazai because of how he makes so many things more convenient in the domestic setting. I wonder if I should retain that.

Ok, so I'm not sure about the ability scores at the moment as whenever I've tried to put ones like Rod down to numbers he's...it just...the imp defies stats. HOWEVER, I can definitely do the alignments:

Rod- Chaotic Neutral Kashi- Lawful Neutral Alyssa- Chaotic Good Layla- Lawful Good Lyra- Chaotic Good Glidon- Lawful Evil (for now, I think. Might change. It's a story)

AND

I think all of them are a piece of me. Maybe not personality or mind, maybe more like a reflection of a circumstance or my perception of someone I know. But my world and the way I perceive people as I meet them or hear about them are all a reflection of me and vice-versa, so my characters are all a different aspect of my world as much as myself.

...

That being said, Rod and Lyra definitely are the closest OCs that share several core personality quirks with myself 😂😂
