Hi! Just read your Marcus x reader fic where they get compared to Didyme.

I was thinking maybe a Poly! Volturi comparing Reader to their ex/late partners and Reader shuts down. They don't mention it, but it really hurts cause they've always been a replacement, so they leave Volterra. The Volturi don't realise for a while.

Feel free to ignore this if it's too repetitive or you've done one like it before.

It's not like you were the second choice

They had been adament that they wanted you, that you were their true mate

So why were they acting like this now?

After almost a year of being together, they were starting to fall out of the 'honeymoon phase'

Had it always just been a phase? Was this doomed from the get-go?

It started with little snippy comments about acting proper. You were human, not raised in the fine luxury and manners they were, and apparently that showed in your actions. And apparently the way you dress too.

It's like they were moulding you into their exes, it it was making you miserable

And it's not like you didn't try to tell them, you did. Only to be shut down. "Cara mia, I'm working. This is not an appropriate place to discuss this" Aro told you, despite being within the privacy of his study

Caius was no better, in no mood to 'entertain you' and your 'whims' as he put it, brushing you off with a sigh

Marcus, too, was no use, disregarding the emotion and making it perhaps worse by saying that didyme would have taken of the constructive criticism

So there you stood, looking at yourself in the mirror. The big dress, the light makeup, the haircut, even the fucking posture just want you.

And so you left.

Silently, seeing as communicating clearly wasn't an option

How long had it been when they realised you were gone? Three days at least

Honestly, Aro had assumed you were annoyed with them and wanted space, telling his brothers suck. It had never crossed his mind that you had left

I mean, the clothes you wore every day were still there, all the gowns and dresses still in place and -

Where were the clothes you brought with you?

The ones they insisted you wouldn't wear?

Caius walkers into your personal room with a huff, intending to talk some sense into this tantrum you've been throwing, and instead intruding on Aro's realisation

The grounds are searched and Mar3is informed

It is pure and utter panic

Chaos as they look for you

Demetri was called back from his mission early to search for you and you were in another country

Marcus was practically having heart palpitations, he can't lose another mate. "Why would she do this, Didyme would never scare me like this"

And he pauses

So does Aro

And so does Caius

And for the first time, they truly hear themselves

Caius is the first one to remember you bringing it up. "Did she talk to you about it too..." the proud kings' voice is for once delicate and quiet

"... I made her leave" Aro practically folds in half, having to grip over where his hear would be in his chest and lean over because of the burning sensation. It aches, it physically aches him to know he messed up this badly - he didn't give you the time of day

"... I told her I don't have time for this" Caius' fist is buried in his hair, gripping in stress and nearly ripping the strands out of his head. His hands are jittery, shaking, and his hair is tussled - a perfect relection of his inner turmoil

"... In the very moment she asked me not to compare her to Didyme anymore, I told her Didyme would take the criticism" is it possible for vampires to be sick? Because I think Marcus is about to be. His eyes sting and he makes a gagged choking noise like he's dry heaving. Like his fight or flight has chosen freeze and the rising anxiety makes his stomach churn

A knock on the door is what pulls them away

Instead of coming to the turbulent kings and taking them with him, it seems Demetri picked you up on his way back instead and brought you right to them.

There are bags under your eyes, and your skin is sickly. Your cheeks are stained with dried up tears and your eyes are bloodshot like you cried so hard you broke a vessel

They rush toward you and Demetri takes that as his cue to leave

Marcus ever so gently holds your face, eyes scanning you for any physical harm, and when he finds none he feels so much temporary relief he almost collapses into himself. "Thank goodness you're okay, I couldn't bare to lose you-"

"what, like you did Didyme?" you spit back with more venom in your voice than their combined fangs have ever produced in their millennias of life

"No, no" Caius' voice has never been so gentle, he takes your hand in his and places a kiss to the inside of your wrist

"Oh, so I'm gone for three days and suddenly it's about me and not your exes?" there is spite in your voice, but it still wavers with how upset you are

Exclaiming "three days?!" was a big mistake on Aro's part, but in that moment he was so full of concern he hadn't realised it would only worsen the situation

"... You didn't know?" and the look on your face is absolutely heart shattering

And they have no words, nothing to say. Because there is no words, and there are no excuses.

"I was gone for three days, and you didn't care enough to notice?!?" your angry now. And you have every right to be. But they have no idea how to fix what they've done

Hello!

Goncharov is one of my dads favorite movies and he showed me when I was maybe a bit too young. But I do love it!

I’ve spoken extensively about the way that everything from literary classics like Wuthering Heights to music like My Chemical Romance inspired my work. However, I’ve always shied away from publicly talking about Goncharov because it means so much to me, but some of the themes in The Twilight Saga — especially the bits set in Volterra in New Moon with the clock tower — were loosely inspired by Goncharov. Scorsese is a genius and I hope that when you go back and look at The Twilight Saga you can see the little Easter eggs and various ways I’ve been inspired by that masterpiece.

I did do a fic like this here, but I am trying to start rewriting my old work in hopes to make them better 🤞

I think at the beginning he is going try and hate you. If his sister dislikes you it must be for a good reason. It will be in fact solely due to the fact that the volturi took you in almost instantly due to your own gift (anything mental, asphyxiation, matter manipulation, literally anything)

In fact he will be straight up cruel to you, and if he is extremely attracted or interested he will ignore you entirely

You have to offer no reaction or they will think they are in the right.

He would definitely not admit to Jane that he likes you in any way

He’s listening to your conversations, waiting for anything to prove you couldn’t possibly be as amazing as everyone seems to think.

But as he waits and waits he doesn’t see anything that would give him an actual reason to hate you

So he slowly starts to be in the same areas, at first he only speaks to the others. He finds he’s annoyed you aren’t speaking to him, but soon Jane comes and throws more vitriol your way and he sees why you would be wary.

He hates that when he goes near you you leave if there’s no one around, and he hates even more that you’re all he thinks about when he’s alone.

He eventually decides to at least try and be cordial when he is around you and see if anything changes

You only offer short responses, why would trust anything he says right now. You try to not let his hurt expression get to you, neither of them has been shy about threatening to use their abilities on you. They were lucky you didn’t use your own gifts on them for all the shit talking they did

Unfortunately one of these curt responses is caught by Jane, “I suggest you be more respectful to my brother.”

You roll your eyes and continue about your business, you’re surprised when you hear Alex speak up, “sister please. Everything is fine.”

“I don’t need you to fight my battles.” You start to walk away but then the pain wracks your body somewhere you hear a voice

“Jane. Enough.” Alec fails to hide the urgency in his voice. Jane stops immediately and while she knew some of the others would check on her Alec being the first next to her, the concern on his eyes infuriated her. She believed you were a poison. First the leaders and now her brother

Unfortunately for Jane this is probably when you’ve had enough and you give her a taste of her own medicine and when Alex says nothing to this well… the only reason she doesn’t try to kill you is because of the leaders fr

After that Alex apologizes for his part in what happened, and you decide to try and let him in, after all maybe he can help you not have Jane hate your guts

He starts putting more of an effort and as much as you’re wary he can be very charming and you can “fix” him

Then as for dating it’s mostly this once he is comfortable

Jane doesn’t try anything as long as Alec is there besides glare at you but Alec is hardly ever not with you and he knows he to have an arm around you and glares back. Jane is tempted to use her gift on him a few times but she knows better

The siblings have several arguments but at the end of the day you’re off limits now. He does try and get her to apologize but for awhile the best you’re going to get is indifference from her.

You’re going to have to save Alec’s life before she considers you a person so sorry, but while Alec still loves his sister he’s been waiting for and dreaming of a connection like this his whole life

He never thought anyone would see him as anything more than a witch twin and he is obsessed with you

A/N: It took me a hot minute to figure this one out. Special thanks to @alecvolturi for all your help!!

I had been studying in Italy when the invitation arrived. A beautiful creamy white envelope, with an intricate V embossed on the back, and my name scrolled in looping calligraphy on the front. It was a curious thing. I was in university for the study of history and symbols, and I had never come across this one before.

No, that wasn't entirely true. It took me a moment to remember.

I had seen it printed in a book once, a book on vampires to be exact. But the book had disappeared when I went back to the university archives to find it. And when I asked the receptionist, she said that the book was going to be auctioned the next month.

I had scoured the various auction sites that I knew of, and it never popped up. I had assumed that it had been sold at a private auction. It was sad, but ultimately I moved on, only coming back to it every now and again out of curiosity. I was never able to find anything.

But there it was on the back of this letter, extending an invitation for a private tour of the castle of Volterra. I had dived into research after that. There was barely anything known about the castle itself, it was off-limits to tourists unless invited. What were its connections to the V symbol, and why had I been invited?

My curiosity had gotten the best of me, and here I was, smushed in-between at least 20 or so tourists. Seeing the size of the group I didn't feel particularly special anymore. If anything I felt wary. You would think that the amount of people with me would make me feel better. But my mind kept going back to the book, the one that connected the symbol with vampires. And that's all I could think about.

"Right this way."

The woman's voice was melodic and it made me shiver. She was unearthly beautiful, to the point where it set me on edge.

What was her name again? Heidi?

The uncomfortable feeling only continued to grow and grow until my skin was stuck somewhere between numbness and prickling. Why had I ever agreed to this?

'Because you're a curious little shit.'

The woman strode forward, arms extending to push the double doors open wide. They swung open to reveal a stunning round room, black and white marble with tiled floors. I didn't have much time to really take it in before noticing something interesting. There was a drain. Directly in the center of the room.

My eyebrows furrowed. Was that normal in architecture from the period it was built? I couldn't remember.

"Welcome!" A man's voice rang out as he clapped his hands together happily. "Welcome to Volterra! We hoped you enjoyed your brief tour!"

What? There hadn't even been a tour at all. That's when I took in the other people who had already been in the room as we arrived. They were all stunningly beautiful. So beautiful that it hurt to look, but drew you in at the same time. I looked in between them and the drain in the floor, the blood draining from my face.

Vampires.

"Time for dinner." Heidi grinned.

Chaos erupted. Screaming and blood everywhere. So much blood. I could taste the metallic tang in the air, mixed with my tears. I was sure I would die of a heart attack any minute, which would be way more preferable to what awaited me. I crouched down in an attempt to curl up inside myself, but that was futile. It wasn't long before I felt a hand around my neck, pulling me up and over until I was on the ground, looking up at my attacker's face.

Warmth bloomed in my chest.

She was gorgeous. More gorgeous than the Heidi woman who had lured us in. Normally I would have considered red eyes to be alarming, but hers were like deep garnets, and had you asked me what my favorite color was at the moment, I would have said crimson. Her blonde hair was swept back into a neat chignon, and her black clothes accentuated the paleness of her skin. Her lips were full and pink, stained with just the tiniest bit of blood.

Well, if this was they way I was gonna go, I was okay with that.

But she just hovered there, eyes wide in disbelief and mouth slightly agape.

"Well? Are you going to kill me?" I whispered.

She shook her head in a daze, before slowly leaning in and placing her lips to mine. I gasped and deepened the kiss, my hands grabbing her arms as she wove her hands into my hair. She then pulled back a moment, taking in my face before licking away my tears and returning to my mouth.

I couldn't help but let out a small, confused moan.

That seemed to shake the girl from her daze. She suddenly disappeared, only to reappear on the other side of the room, looking angry and hissing at me. I sat up, completely disheveled and panting, doing my best to process what the hell was going on. And also, what the hell was wrong with me?

I realized then that the room was silent. There was no one else left alive. And now all the other vampires were looking at me, shocked.

"It seems as though Jane has finally found her mate."

It was an older-looking vampire who spoke, his tone bored.

'What??'

There was another hiss from the girl, Jane. My mate. And then she was gone, a door slamming from somewhere in the room.

"Don't worry." It was a dark haired boy who stood off to the side, a smirk tugging at his lips. "My sister will be fine. She just hates humans."

'Well, that's just great for me isn't it?'

That was my last fucked up thought before I passed out.

So I'm having trouble understanding the vultri (I think that's how you spell it) and all their personalities, could you explain them to me?

Because we don't see a whole lot of the Volturi, you'll find that people have a lot of different headcanons, but here are the basic, canon personalities.

The actual Volturi coven consists of Aro, Marcus, Caius, Sulpicia (Aro's wife) and Athenodora (Caius' wife). Marcus had a wife, Didyme, who was also Aro's sister. Marcus and Didyme wanted to leave the Volturi but Aro wanted to keep Marcus' power, so he secretly killed Didyme. Marcus stayed with the Volturi but became a shell of his former self, severely apathetic and depressed. Sulpicia and Athenodora were put in the tower under heavy guard to protect them.

Aro is the defacto leader, although he, Marcus and Caius seemingly rule as a triumvirate. Aro is outwardly cheerful and enthusiastic, seemingly benevolent, but is shrewd and calculating underneath the friendly exterior. He is extremely curious about anything new and loves to 'collect' vampires with gifts. He has a gift to read every single thought a person has ever had just by touching them.

Marcus is depressed and apathetic after the loss of his wife. He barely cares about any of their trials and generally just wants to get it over with. He has a gift to see relationships and the strength of them. It's useful to Aro in battle, to see how armies are tied to their leaders, for example, who would die for someone else, whose ties aren't as strong and could maybe be lured away, etc.

Caius is usually angry and aggressive. Whereas Aro can be merciful when it suits him, Caius is the one who wants to punish everyone to the full extent of the law. He doesn't have a supernatural gift, which might be part of his whole deal; maybe he feels inferior or worries that he could be replaced.

In canon we don't really know much about Sulpicia and Athenodora other than that they live in the tower and rarely leave. Personally I think it's less about their safety and more about Aro realizing he wields more power as 1 of 3 rulers than he would as 1 of 5. Athenodora and Caius were a couple before joining up with Marcus and Aro. Sulpicia was a human Aro sought out to change and be his wife. There is a vampire named Corin who has the gift of addictive contentment, and she keeps them happy with their situation.

Didyme was Aro's biological sister. He went back to turn her into a vampire because he thought maybe gifts ran in families. She did have a gift, an aura of happiness, which was not as useful as he had hoped. She and Marcus fell in love and we so happy they stopped caring about the Volturi's mission and were going to leave until Aro secretly killed her.

The rest of the Volturi are technically the Volturi Guard and not really part of the coven, but people lump them together.

Jane and Alec are the most feared because of their gifts (Janes makes you feel incredible pain, Alec can rob you of all your senses). They are twins and devoted to one another, and Jane has something of a teacher's pet attitude with Aro and is jealous of anyone else he praises.

Chelsea is perhaps the most important because her gifts allows her to create bonds between people, and she's made everyone loyal to the Volturi. She has a mate named Afton who can make himself invisible to a degree but it's not that great of a power and Aro just keeps him around to keep Chelsea happy.

There's Demetri, a debonair, charming tracker, and Felix, who doesn't have a power but is super strong. He's kind of the Volturi's Emmett. The seem to be sent on missions together.

Heidi is beautiful and alluring and her gifts makes people follow her; she brings human victims for the Volturi to feed on using elaborate schemes to get them to Volterra.

Renata is Aro's bodyguard, she has a shield like Bella but hers repels physical attacks rather than mental ones.

There's also Santiago but we don't know much about him but he seems to be like Felix, with no special power.

How they would react after your first publishing

Edward Cullen:

• Edward knew that writing your own stories were a hobby of yours for quite sometime, he had the idea that you might publish for the first time one day, he just didn’t know when

• When he found out from your former classmates that you were in the process of doing just that, you were a little bummed out because you wanted it to be a surprise for everyone and this had you regretting ever telling a soul about your project

• Thankfully, Edward was good at delivering promises like that, and you had no problem or hesitation to entrust him with your goals

• It was during night hours you would work on making final edits to your book, he would come by to find you on your laptop typing away what your thoughts were speaking of and he would eventually turn out to be your co editor

• So you put both your names as the authors when it came time for your book to be published at last

• You have worked on it two years and you were thrilled with the process of taking time to get it just right and how you wanted it to be

• You don’t really know why, but Edward asked to have your autograph, but you couldn’t tell him no and signed a free copy of the book for him

• You treated the rest of his and yours family the same, other than the fact that Edward knew beforehand

Felix Volturi:

• You grew up to be quite adventurous, and for all the places you haven’t had been to yet, you wrote your own stories about them and would often ask Felix to read it while asking for his opinion

• Knowing this was your first publishing, he didn’t want to make you feel obligated to what you should write about and instead, would give nothing but nice things to say about it and what he liked about it

• You know he’s not being completely honest with you and after confronting him about it, he started to give you what he really thought and even after promising him you could take criticism, you couldn’t help but play a joke on him in front of the rest of the family

• After he managed to get the rest of the family to read it, he called you in to hear everyone’s opinion and they were honest with straight up front unlike Felix

• You took action in your joke: after listening to what they didn’t like about it, you out on a scowl and grumpy look on your face before saying, “Go to hell, all of you!”

• You playfully storm out and everyone is silent until you poke back in with that jokingly grin on your face saying, “Just kidding!”

• They got a laugh out of it once you were out sight and earshot

Jacob Black:

•Jacob was really excited for you, but no more than proud

• You had talked to him about wanting to publish someday and now it was finally happening

• Jacob is the only person and friend you have allowed to read the first chapter of the book you had saved on your laptop and he’d give you his honest opinion, but not in a rude way some might think

• You have always appreciated Jacob for being honest instead of saying anything that was nothing but a lie

• You knew a lot of people that would have done that to you and that’s why you turned to Jacob on this subject

• Jacob is one of the few most honest people you’ve come to know

• Jacob would be the first to receive a free copy of your book with your autographed signature on the first blank page

• You had even dedicated this book to him as well as some others that were honest

• Jacob would say this would be the best gift he’s ever received from anyone

Benjamin:

• Benjamin was one of the sweetest guys you’ve ever met

• Benjamin thought he knew everything about you, but that was until he had accidentally stumbled upon your diary one day which had partly contained what you would be putting into your book

• He wasn’t sure what to make of it at first, he tried not to allow himself to open it and invade your privacy like that, but the curiosity got the better of him

• While he was reading what you had down, he was really getting into it that he didn’t notice you walk in the room until you spoke, interrupting his thoughts from reading any further

• You ask him where he got that, he goes onto explain that he was returning some of your items he knew that you kept in your night table drawer and found it

• That one of the pages was marked and he opened it to that page

• He apologies for it and to his surprise, you don’t get upset, rather you ask him what he thought of it before telling him that you’re thinking of publishing it one day

• He was honest and encouraged you to achieve that goal of publishing

• You we’re glad you followed his advice and took his opinion seriously because now the whole world was reading your book and they loved it

• Even the Volturi have copies and quote enjoyed it for themselves

any fun thoughts you have on the Romanian coven?? Have they changed with the times? What're they up to these days? Do they try to fit into society? Thoughts on humans?

The Romanians are two of my favourite characters. They’re incredibly interesting and there’s a whole world in their pasts that could be explored. In the films they’re such fun characters but the books have them more creepy, sinister almost, and very out of place among modern vampire society. I view them more that way than the movie portrayal.

I think Vladimir and Stefan are very much set in the same way they were when Laurent encountered them - trying to be invisible. They’re forever wandering the world, never stopping, keeping out of the eye of the Volturi and waiting for the opportunity to get revenge for the loss of their empire and family. One day, when another coven takes the risk of creating a large army, and (hopefully for them) wounds the Volturi enough in battle, then Vladimir and Stefan will create their own once again and attempt to restore themselves to power and glory.

They don’t attempt to fit into society at all. Like many their clothes are stolen from prey, and they avoid cities. They roam countries with constant cloud, much like the Cullens, however unlike the Cullens preferring to avoid other vampires as much as possible as to avoid detection. They discourage others to follow them just as they told Laurent to stop.

Their views on humans are only that they are prey, nothing more. It’s been so long since they were humans they no longer recall their human memories and they kept human (and likely vampire) slaves. They don’t hold much value towards others of their own species either; they’re so old they’ve seen the vast majority of those they’ve known all die, coming and going as seemingly quickly as the seasons; empires rising and falling; armies being created and destroyed. They exist as if they’re watching the world go by, particularly as they can no longer participate in it as to avoid execution by any means Aro might create. (As a side note I don’t think Aro will order their deaths unless they rebel again - as the population is mostly younger vampires who don’t remember the carnage and anarchy of the world before the Volturi, he keeps them alive as a warning to those who might seek to usurp him and recreate the world of empires, as they will tell anyone who’ll listen about how their castles were burnt, etc).

Methodically, he pounds into you, hands practically shaking at every clench you give to him and he can't help the gutteral moans that leave him.

He just can't hold back any more

Both of his hands fly to your hips and he uses them to move you with his thrusts, pulling you back as he surges forward so your ass bounces at the impact. Skin slapping against skin fills the room and venom pools in him mouth.

Uhm im going to go with a headcanon because I am really struggling to write more than a couple sentences a day, also theres only one way this is ending.

Im also definitely in the minority when j say I really dont find the actor for Caius very attractive and my headcanons sometines reflect who I like 😬

Caius is always ready for someone to break the rules it makes eternal life very entertaining

So when a coven is making themselves a bit too obvious in your city he’s ready to go and carry out some justice

As the guard is cleaning up the troublemakers a few get out and Demetri Felix and Caius go to find the escapees

Caius finds his about to unalive you and I’ll be honest he doesn’t care a out you he is just focusing on carrying out his job

Seriously he barely noticed you until you squeak out a thank you. His head snaps toward you and he was about to finish the other vampires job before but as he walks toward you he feels a pull

And he curses any entity thats listening, of course youre a human, ew

He debates just leaving you but he has to burn the vampire to get the job done so if he wants you to at least live he needs to get you out of there. He curses something archaic under his breath and sets the vampire ablaze. He scoops you up and drops you in a park nearby

Demetri catches up to him and the two try to figure out what to do.

The two disappear and youre left alone in the middle of the night. No one would believe you if you told them what happened and you just keep quiet. Caius is monitoring this btw

He talked to Aro and Marcus and they both agreed he needed to bring you to Volterra. Human or not was up to him

He chose not btw

He finds you and decides to tell you because you know what happened you have to be changed, he leaves out that theres a possible mate bond

Obviously youre going to hesitate a bit but Caius is, im sorry not going to be persuaded otherwise

He bites you and carries you away to the palace. When you wake up he continues to be distant.

It takes Marcus basically forcing him in a room for him to explain the mate bond/pull that youve begun to feel as well

You tell him he has to put in more of an effort or you will leave the palace and he agrees to try, reluctantly

to his effort he does start to try but it is painfully slow with him. He starts by just accompanying you every day for a little while and it takes probably a good two weeks before he actually tries to talk to you. But once he starts its hard to get him to stop.

Realize that if you want Caius’s attitude to change you also have to be a bit of a hard ass and not let him be a dick. He will like that you dont let anyone walk over you and it will honestly force his curiosity to be piqued

Getting him to open up will take just as long if not longer so you are also going to have to be patient.

The relationship will take a while to blossom but i cant imagine a more protective mate in the volturi (besides Felix)

Do you have any headcanons about funny things the Volturi away teams have to deal with while undercover?

Not really, I'm sure they go out of their way to avoid human contact. The only time they're really going to be undercover is when they're entering or leaving airports, hunting, or enforcing the law in a populated area.

They intimidating people who travel in groups, I doubt humans are going to be willing to approach them much if at all.

If anything it'll be Alec and Jane being asked, "Are you lost? Do you need help finding your parents?" a lot, especially at airports. And I can imagine if Jane travels alone with Demetri and Felix and some poor human sees a very beautiful child traveling with two terrifying-looking men, they may get pulled aside by security to answer about who they are and their relation to the child.
