Julian:

a peaceful smile. his face relaxes, the tension around his mouth smoothens, and the look in his eyes has a rare stillness, as though the anxious energy permeating his brain has finally found a moment of rest. it's a small smile. his lips are slightly parted, his blinks are slower and heavier, and the world stands still for a moment to breathe

Asra:

a vulnerable smile. their guard is down, the carefully maintained relaxed energy of their poker face disappears, and they become more expressive than you could have imagined. he meets your eyes with unimaginable levels of trust as emotions flicker across his face like pages turning, and responds to your safety with a wobbly grin

Nadia:

a grateful smile. still elegant, still dignified, but the cold edges of her regal bearing thaw just enough to let her eyes soften in your direction as she mouths a "thank you" after you've helped her. for someone who hates accepting help, she finds she enjoys depending on you more than she thought possible and loves to share that joy with you

Muriel:

a laughing smile. he does laugh more often with you around, but it's usually something pulled from him begrudgingly in the form of a brief snort. this is the smile of a belly laugh, his head tossed back and oh-so-briefly carefree, shoulders relaxing enough to shake with chortles as his eyes crinkle shut with laughter. it's a sight for you and you only

Portia:

a sad smile. for someone as comfortable with her emotions as she is, she doesn't like people seeing her sad unless she mixes it with anger, or jealousy, or concern. but you get to see the wobbly midnight smile, sent your way after she's gazed into the fireplace next to you and spoken about all the things she's missed with tears on her cheeks

Lucio:

a thoughtful smile. it's no secret that, for all of his smart instincts, he doesn't like spending any more time thinking than he has to. you, though - you make him want to think, about the future, about who he is, about what he's lost and gained, about fixing mistakes. never for more than five minutes, but the contemplative smile is beautiful

Mini Hc for the M6's reactions to Mc returning from a market trip and handing them a can of non-toxic 'gender fluid'

The Arcana Mini-HCs: MC gives M6 a drink called "gender fluid"

Julian - still fairly skeptical about what exactly "non-toxic" means, quickly changes his mind when he sees the caffeine content

Asra - downs the entire thing without thinking, then reads over the packaging with increasingly hyper giggles before searching for more

Nadia - not very interested in tasting it, would much rather chuckle over the labeling and then put it on a shelf to admire occasionally

Muriel - doesn't realize it's a gift and assumes you're just showing it to him. will look it over with a small smirk before handing it back

Portia - more interested in where you found it and who came up with it than she is in actually tasting it. will drink it at some point, though

Lucio - thinks you've just given him an energy drink, doesn't look at the label until he notices it tastes different. might ask you to explain

Asra has seen so many things and experienced so much grief for people that came back into his life one at a time.

First he lost his parents who were locked away by the devil for the simple crime helping Lucio and protecting their son.

Then Muriel ( which I think a lot of people forget). I don’t think Muriel would have been able to make himself go back to Asra after he’d been hurt badly in a fight. I truly don’t think Muriel would be able to do that to the bright-eyed, lively, poofy-haired kid that made him remember what life was worth.

Then you and as I mentioned before, he wasn’t even there, he had begged and pleaded with you to come with him but you wanted to stay, you wanted to help those who had been doomed by the plague. And he wasn’t even there to hold your hand or take care of you as you died, and it ripped him apart.

The first to come back was Muriel, who had helped in Asra’s plan to bring you back. Muriel was the first person who came back, the first part of his family he’d seen in years.

Next was you. He gave up half of his own heart to bring you back. To hold you in his arms again. But you didn’t know who he was. You didn’t know who you were. You didn’t know anything or anyone, and I think it would have destroyed him a second time. He taught you how to be yourself again, how to be a person, a magician, a soul, you. And you gave him everything he could ask for in return.

You helped him to find his parents again, you helped him save them and their familiars. You brought them home.

Asra’s route and life held so much grief and so much joy at the same time. He held so much inside of him and still managed to be good. That’s why I admire him. He had so many emotions so many clashing feeling and he still stayed kind. He still chose to be himself. He chose to stay the bright-eyed, poofy-haired, marvel that he is.
