this took SO LONG to knit! in retrospect, i'm not entirely sure why. my most recent jumper (very nearly finished) has taken 1/3 of the time, if that

i love this jumper(/sweater) because it's easily the best i've ever made and because, come on, it's a cockatoo! i got the pattern from this knitting book full of australia-themed jumpers and they're basically all winners. the pattern was super easy once i'd got my head around fair isle, and it's one that i'm going to use as a base in future knitting projects--as in, how many stitches to cast on, rib, how to do the sleeves, while creating new images to go on it. though i've discovered on my current jumper the perils of using different wool/yarn on the same pattern. i didn't think it would matter that much because none of the wool/yarn that the book suggests you use is in production anymore, but it turns out that all that tension bullshit might just be relevant

Nothing pains me more than seeing non-Australians entirely missing the point of Round The Twist. I don't actually know what the specific point is, but I know they're missing it.

Like, noooo, Round The Twist was a beloved childhood show, and it's not yours to act like you "discovered" and that you can rip to shreds. Like yeah, the show was quite insane at times, but I don't wanna hear any "Why would anyone show their kids this?" because it was just a bit of fun. No one was watching Round The Twist for a good example of what to teach their children.

It wasn't a show that fussed itself with having a moral of each episode, because we knew growing up that everything would be fine if the family had each other; It was more of an overarching moral, like in Gravity Falls. And if people can get pissed about someone saying "Why would anyone show their kids this?" about Gravity Falls, can we please get pissed when people say it about Round The Twist?

Cos Round The Twist was a massive part of my childhood, and I dunno. It kinda sucks to see people undermine how much it meant to a lot of Australian kids.
