so ranking stuff seems to be becoming more popular and because my hyperfixation on this amazing show is very slowly dying i wanted to send it off by ranking and reviewing all the seasons and episodes, the way im gonna do this is to review every half a season once every 3 days or so just so i can get some rest and that yall won't get completely spammed with this. of course since a lot of my fictional others are in this show im going to be biased but ill try my best not to be, emphasis on try. but before we start i just want to mention the box art for the middle, i just think they're very neat and the first two seasons have a reversible case which i love, the season 1 reversible box art even has bob on it with the hecks which only proves my point that he was going to be a main character but got extremely underutilized. enough gabbin, anyway onto half of season 1 under da cut.

pilot

very creative title, i know but for a pilot episode, it still holds up. of course, a lot of things are different from the rest of the series like the hecks having a different house and the music cues and just the music in general having a somewhat different vibe that i can't really describe, actually the whole episode has a somewhat different vibe from the rest of the series, like they put a brownish filter over everything, it's still a good vibe, just different. i love how straightforward mike is, how frankie befriends this girl for a bit just for her to leave frankie in the middle of nowhere and how they somewhat forshadow stuff for future episodes. all around, it's a good episode.

the cheerleader

i completely forgot that this was the episode where they sold their soul to frugal hoosier, i thought they always went their. anyway i love how axl moves in this episode, he moves like a cartoon character, it's amazing. this episode is really funny, a lot of iconic moments are from this episode, the jellybean car, sue trying on glasses, ehlert ranting, "no payments until 2009!", it's a great episode that i enjoy a lot, top of the list so far.

the floating anniversary

doris the dog suffers from secondhand smoking and sue tries to get attention from a cute boy at school while frankie gets stressed, that's the plot really. i love whenever one of the hecks leaves bob with something they always come back to him causing a fire. i also love how they referenced the previous episode by having ehlert notice bob's house plant on his desk and him ranting again, i don't know if it was even a reference of not but i love stuff like that, it rewards the viewer for watching. also just the ending is very sweet, bob has his own family for a bit and he info dumps all of them with a wife swap episode. i love this episode so ill put it below the cheerleader.

the trip

the kids forgetting sue's name while singing happy birthday to her and the "jesus wore sandals" from axl is probably a lot more funny to me than it should have been. sue did really deserve that trip which makes the reveal of frankie not mailing her thing even more shitty but at least frankie makes up for it cause she's so genuinely upset with herself and lets sue yell at her and doesn't yell back, she's actually happy sue is angry with her because sue finally finds her voice. also brick having to deal with olive is kinda how i feel about irl relationships. putting this below the floating anniversary.

the block party

i just realized how kinda depressed axl seems in season 1 like everything to him is lame and he seems to be never in the mood or at least his tone is very monotone. anyway, frankie is jelly that axl gave his old jersey to sophie instead of her but axl makes up for it by giving it to sue cause he felt bad for her not making ball girl and it's very sweet. again a very sweet ending, mike allowing himself to lose the lawn mower race just so he can take brick to a book signing. putting this below pilot.

the front door

ehlert threatens his employees with having to wear a fursuit outside if they don't make a sale by the end of the week so frankie and bob team up as good cop and good cop while axl destroys the front door with facts and logic. speaking of axl, just watching him being a smartass is so enjoyable and i feel a bit bad for laughing but all of sue's photos are absolute masterpieces. ill put this over the trip.

the scratch

ehlert wants to air an old commercial for ehlert motors but it's racist so bob tries to write a new one for him while the hecks panic about trash day causing brick to accidentally get hit by a beer bottle thrown by frankie which makes it look like he's been intentionally hit. i love how axl jokes around and just asks questions about how cool forster families are, he's such a little shit, i love it. im puttin this over the front door.

"in my old commercial i was beautiful, bob! what'd you do to me?"

and right after being asked, bob just runs away.

thanksgiving

after feeling unappreciated and stressed frankie cancels thanksgiving for the hecks, and bob also. this is the episode to introduce the canon homosexual himself, brad bottig and he's such a delight. i love how mike and frankie realize brad is definitely not into girls quicker than when brad realized. i really really enjoy the corn maze part with axl and brick and that creepy ghost dude, it shows us that axl actually cares about brick and id like to think that creepy ghost dude is axl's and sue's anxiety of losing brick, since he makes another appearance in a different episode. i always enjoy myself when i rewatch this episode so ill put it over the scratch.

"please help me find my brother. he's lost and im so scared."

"um, what's he wearing?"

"uh, he's got, like, a green jacket and a yellow hat, and- oh, my god, he's dressed like corn!"

siblings

i remember watching this episode when i was much younger and getting really annoyed when it showed axl, sue and brick watching the same shit on different tvs right in front of frankie. the realization on mike's face when he figures out aunt edie is starting to lose it and him genuinely thinking aunt edie had died at work is priceless. i love how axl, sue and brick start bonding as soon as it becomes kids vs adults when playing whatever sport they were playing, i dunno, im not a sport dude. again a nice, sweet and funny ending that i feel like almost everyone can relate to, laughing at something stupid their parent did. putting this over the trip.

christmas

brick becomes an atheist while everyone tries to convince him otherwise- wait wrong christmas episode. mike tries to handle christmas after shit talking how frankie does it but of course fails right at the end. bob crying to himself in choir because of how lonely he is, is so depressing, i feel so bad for him. brick making the mall santa depressed is so hilarious, the way he looks at brick, he looks like he's going cry. the hecks literally almost die twice in a row and that somehow makes brick not worry about death. the end with sue crying because she found brad with another boy smoking is really funny cuz get it? in some countries cigarettes are called fag- putting this over siblings

"my friends came by, called me a seaman."

the jeans

brick tries to look after doris while sue goes through her mood swings, brick constantly forgetting about doris only to get a "ohh" and him walking out of frame is hilarious. i absolutely love it when mike mimics axl, he can be so sassy sometimes, and him buying axl's car for less money than sue's jeans is also funny. also doris gives birth offscreen in this episode, then we literally never see her puppies again which im pretty sure the the sole purpose was because the actors just wanted to play with puppies for a bit. ill be putting this below pilot.

the neighbor

the episode where they introduced the glossners, frankie is so sexually intimidated by rita, she's her bisexual awakening. i love how sue and carly start dance fighting with two of the glossners, who just stand there, push them over and take her boombox. i adore brick just wanting to hang out with axl, they're both very cute, even if the whole reason why axl is spending time with brick is just so brick will do his homework for him. ill put this over the trip.

the ranking so far

so far this is a great season, even just the "low points" are still really good and always make me laugh and smile which it was why it was so difficult to rank and choose which ones i preferred but i tried my best with this..

Like many of you older metalheads out there, I have listened to GnR ever since the “Appetite for Destruction” album.  We jumped around playing air guitar to Slash’s solos, screamed with Axl, and mimed along to all the songs.

Some of us true GnR fans may even have attempted to replicate their look with bandanas, ripped jeans, and long hair – although the long hair was pretty common across all the 80s and 90s rock bands.

My hair was never suited as a heavy metal dude.  It is super thin and the slightest nylon carpet makes it electrically charged with static, so I look like a giant tesla glass ball.  So, I kept my hair fairly short most of my youth, donning the classic bowl cut.

I remember sitting in my friend’s room, painting figurines for Dungeons and Dragons.  We built these elaborate landscapes while listening to Axl’s iconic voice and the awesome riffs from Slash.  Man, those were the great times of my youth!

Seeing them in concert has always been on my bucket list, so when I got invited to see them live in October 2017, I of course couldn’t say no.  To be honest, a vendor invited me, and I probably replied within 27 seconds of receiving the invite.  I was giggling frantically as I typed up my reply “Hell Yes!“.

It is crazy it is already more than two years ago, since this amazing evening, seeing Guns ‘n Roses live at Madison Square Garden.  And, what better place to witness these ’80s and ’90s legends live on stage.

I was going to the gig with my colleague, or rather my boss, who is the same age as me.  Not wives.  No kids.  No family commitments that evening – just an evening with Axl and Slash … and the rest of the band who many don’t really know – sorry!

So many questions ran through my head as I was making my way to the Garden.

Will I have to show ID at the entrance?

Should I buy more than one T-shirt?

Will the GnR female fans look the same as in the 80s and 90s?

What time does the concert finish, as I have to get kids up early for school?

Will the guys wear the same shirts and waive the same hairs?

Will Axl and Slash burst into a fistfight on stage?

Will I see men my age headbang?

Will they play some of the hits?

Will I be forced to listen to some of their newer stuff?

I got the answers to all my questions that evening, and some were frightening to say the least, especially as I witnessed men my age attempting to dress as we did back when, showing off their amazing blond/brown/silver manes, with more bald patches than a hairless cat.  Most guys had developed a slight little beer-belly, stretching their GnR t-shirt a fair bit.

Many of the female supporters also decided to dress like they did 30 years earlier, except some of them might have grown a little all over.  Many went braless from the looks of it, as their boobs were closer to their bellybutton.

But heck, we don’t care.  This is the band we like.  Why not honor them with loyal fans, dressed in the best GnR gear and ready for an evening with plenty of rock.

The cool thing about being invited is that you often end up in a VIP box.  No need to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with hard dancing sweaty guys, getting a whiff of their body odors as they raise their arms to salute these rock gods.

We were standing in a small little booth, with plenty of room, fully stocked with beers, snacks, and a buffet of snack food … and our own toilet in the suite.  There was an excellent view of the stage and we could hear everything perfectly.

The Garden filled up quickly as we neared the grand start of the concert, and the anticipation grew by the minute.  I was giggling like a teenager, and so was the rest of the business suit dressed guys in the VIP suite.

Suddenly, the light dimmed, the voices from the crowds below grew and the revving of a muscle-car filled the arena.  People know something amazing was going to happen.  The shouts became louder, revving wilder, and suddenly the drums started to join in.

The crowd went bananas.  The iconic metal hand gestures flew into the air, across the arena, even in the VIP boxes, as we all hailed the rock gods about to jump on stage.  We worshipping these lords of foul language, bad hair, and skinny feckers.

We were ready to be rocked of our socks!

Then, just like magic, Axl’s voice filled the arena, and he kicked off the concert with an avalanche of lights, guitar riffs, drums, and more screaming.  This was absolutely amazing, and we all sucked it up and it filled our hearts with metal energy!

I’m sorry, I’m not going to describe every song, mood, and the entire experience.  But, needless to say, it was an amazing evening.

There was no warm-up band.  There was no break.  Just three hours (yes, THREE hours) of Guns n Roses playing for the masses.

Slash was impressing all with his iconic stance, his heavy riffs that no-one can imitate, and of course his rather strange hair-cut and hat.

I wish that I had a better camera, but it is a lasting memory in my mind and you can never capture the true experience through a lense.

Axl had changed a little.  He used to be this scrawny pale dude, running around on stage, screaming and bringing the energy.  Most of that was still there, but he had also developed a healthy beer belly.  But that did not stop him from entertaining the fans, and many of us beer belly dudes were inspired when we saw it was possible to run around topless, and women were still admiring you.

Axl had embrased the dad-bod, and enabled us to be worshipped – it is awesome to have a little belly!

They played all their great and not so great hits.  It was absolutely amazing to hear ALL the songs that I’ve listened too for decades now; Paradise City, November Rain, Welcome to the Jungle, Civil War, Sweet Child ‘o Mine, You’re Crazy, Patience, Don’t Cry, Sympathy for the Devil, and Get in the Ring.

Basically every song from Appetite for Destruction and Use Your Illusion I+II … and of course their newer materials from Chinese Democrazy.

The boys really knew how to entertain.  It was pretty clear that this is what they were born to do, and have been doing for decades.  They have a huge following, and it grows steadily with younger fans joining the masses.

Even my kids love many of the GnR tracks, and it makes my heart melt when I see my offspring embracing the music I grew up with, and I realize that they like good ol’ rock music over this strange new pop music.  I have been a good rock educator and given them a solid rock foundation.

Thank you, Axl, Slash and the other dudes on stage.  You made my night and decade.  You gave us a 3 hour plus concert, with non-stop songs and entertainment.

We thank you from the bottom of our rock hearts!

ICON 1965 Ford Crew Cab Reformer — 2017 SEMA Show

we’re here at the 2017 SEMA show where we caught up with Jonathan ward fromicon 4×4 because one of the standout vehicles to us is this reformer f250six-pack so Jonathan talked to me about the concept of what we have well I wantto build the most inefficient things I possibly can so this is part of thereformer lines you know we have the production fj’s and Broncos and thriftmasters and then once that standardized I hate to say it I like get a little bitbored and I love doing these one-offs because like constant discovery and youknow new challenges so this is a really good example of those it’s a 1965 f250crew cab and that’s factory build every one thinks that we mash it up and makeit wasn’t really factory that but they built them for like the railroads andthe military and stuff so they’re hard to find but all that remains of it isthe body shell the seat frames the door handles so the idea is with the reformerrevisit like everything I do classic design in a modern context so the ideais simply to make this a viable capable safe fast fun daily driver but likereally honor the the vintage style so it’s got the beautiful styling of a 65that will elaborate on that so like the plastic knobs it didn’t all kind ofmatch I’ll take some liberties pick my favorite one see and see it in stainlesscreate more continuity with the design then they just kind of geek out on everysingle to the tail it’s super fun so what’s under the hood so this one’srunning a five nine Cummins and then Gail banks has become a dear friend andwe’ve been working with her for years so we basically said to Gail just sendme whatever the heck you have for the five nine which you and I both know hehas kind of everything for it so it’s about probably 750 torque but totallymanageable daily driver and it just moves like a freight train and whosetransmission in fact so basically I cheatedI took a no seven Mega Cab 3,500 Dodge and built the truck upon that but it wasa client request because he doesn’t like the current generation Ford diesel buthas massive faith and experience and the Dodge so everything is dodge underneathaxles and suspension yeah I mean I did the core Fox off-road racing suspensionwe did ceramic coated stainless Gail banks exhaust upgraded the brakes andthe clutch but yes the primary architecture in fact even the referencethen the client if he needs to again we’re rolling to a Dodge dealer maybepiss them off confuse them a little bit but tell them hey it’s this all partnumber consistency can bus electronics obd2 everything is still consistent tothat VIN so we try and avoid the Johnny Cash specials you know where the clientdoesn’t know what to do where to get what and when you kind of use a wholeplatform you’re getting a lot of engineering and consistency by doingthat I know you’re all about the details so talk to me about the interior socustom leather buy more and she’ll she’s a common partner for me but I’m a majorleather geek hobbyist too so like why did the dye sample they made it for soit’s got this like funky red modded with black highlights the seat insertsI wanted to get something really durable and I like to go outside automotive soit’s actually Knoll which is like high-end architecturebut outside patio furniture so UV dry run of all that’s way better thanautomotive then like we had seat heaters we use tempur-pedic foam the steeringwheel is a vintage Ford wheel but from another app and then I hand-stitched andleather wrap did gauge shell looks stock so we kept the custom cab gauges andeven the exterior side trim they never did a custom cab crew cab butI used to own one and love them so then we Sheldon it’s all you know modern gutsbut with the vintage aesthetic hidden audio with Bluetoothyou know a/c and power windows but it looks like analog so like a little stuffman you know me I love that’s the last thing the bed itself that must havecreated some issues or problems what kind of solutions did you come up withwell when you’re doing these body swaps even with CAD control there’s thingsthat just kind of surprise you and give you new challenges so actually to getthe fitment right and the chassis balance correct because we don’t want toalter suspension or engine versus front axle center point we’ve actually cheatand raise that bed floor up so you’ll notice that when you drop the tailgateyou lost probably six inches of depth but that gave us better mechanicalengineering so we just let it have its very cool thank you for your time I knowyou’re running the show appreciate it thanks for the interest for more go topickup trucks comyou

2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class First Drive: Nothing but a G-Wagen Reinventing the icon The casting of the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen in 2015’s Jurassic World was appropriate for more reasons than just the vehicle’s ruggedness and suitability for shuttling Hollywood stars through mud. Introduced in 1979—and largely unchanged since—the G-wagen is a dinosaur. Fittingly, it appeared in the most fantastic installment yet of the sci-fi series, in which scientists created a new dinosaur. Because for the first time in almost 40 years, Mercedes-Benz has finally messed with the G-class’s DNA. Highs Vastly improved ride, much roomier interior, insane off-road ability. Lows Plenty of wind noise, still doesn’t love cornering, six-figure price tag. What’s New Looks Old Oh, don’t worry too much. Just look at the pictures. While the 2019 model is comprehensively reengineered—only the door handles, the spare-tire cover, the sun visors, the headlight-washer nozzles, and a bracket under the hood are shared with its predecessor—it still looks very much the same. The edges are softer now and the roof pillars are a bit thicker, but all of the important G cues are there: the awkward trim strips encircling the body, a spare tire hanging off a massive side-hinged rear portal, square-cut doors (now with rounded edges) with exposed hinges, a clamshell hood, and marker lights on top of the fenders. Without seeing the old and new side by side, most people will be hard-pressed to identify many differences. Heck, casual observers will go on thinking it’s unchanged. Although it wasn’t installed on any of the Europe-market vehicles we drove for this first exposure, the brush guard will still be standard in the United States. And in addition to the G’s Lego-brick silhouette, the most important mechanical parameters remain: There’s still a ladder frame, and the truck still has three locking differentials. But the front and rear differentials are a critical 1.6 inches farther apart now, and the front one resides in an independently suspended front axle, which is the primary reason for the G-wagen’s dramatically improved ride quality. Without a big log axle crashing around up front, Benz’s brick rides far more like a modern vehicle, soaking up bumps without making occupants feel like they’re doing the off-roading they almost certainly will never do. The boost from the electrically assisted power steering varies depending on the selected driving mode, but this model’s rack-and-pinion system is far more precise than the outgoing truck’s recirculating-ball setup. Overall length is up 2.1 inches, and the new G is a significant 2.5 inches wider. This changes the proportions dramatically. While 2.1 inches represents just a 1 percent increase in length, width balloons 7 percent.
